This is getting a bit long and emotional so i’m gonna put a cut in case you don’t wanna read all of it
tldr: i’m reflecting on my time on tumblr and thanking some people (DW IM NOT QUITTING, I JUST FEEL LIKE BEING NICE TODAY LOL)
i’ve always felt like i could always just be my true self here on tumblr ngl. like, i could be free to just post about whatever interest i had and then i wouldn’t get insulted or bullied for it 😭
i remember being super scared to even start posting about Yuurivoice in the beginning since i thought i would get teased for liking asmr, but i was pleasantly surprised with how kind and accepting everyone was!!
now that all this time has passed, i would like to say that i am really, really glad that i was able to make so many friends here, and i love how we all made such a great community 🫶🫶
i’m doing some individual shout outs now, i’m sorry if you weren’t included here, these are just the people that really made all the difference in my little tumblr journey
@tqnk and @milosirlgf i think i already said this in jay’s inbox before but no joke, you two were the reason i wanted to make a tumblr account and start posting here LMAO
i think i still remember both of your old urls (i believe they were hhawks and gay-jay?) and i also really enjoyed seeing both of your posts when i first started listening!!
you’re both really funny and amazing to talk to, and i’m glad i got the chance to be able to meet both of you personally!
@p0pp3t and @sweetangle8 I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCHHH Una you were also one of my first moots LOL Both of you always make me so happy when I see you <33
And Tallu, you were the entire reason i actually gained the courage to start tuning into calls on Discord + being able to form a closer bond with everyone else, so thank you so much for that! You and Una brighten my day every time I talk to you, and I love all the jokes we end up making, whether it’s about Redacted david specifically or OCs!!
@anunmarkedface You are honestly such an amazing person to talk with, especially about Redacted, OCs, and just general topics! I love how you care about everyone in our group, and how you always know the right thing to say to people when they need it. You are one of the best people I’ve met, and I’m glad to have you as my friend :D
@yourunderratedbix I love hearing your stories and interests on call so much! You’re a really sweet and funny person to talk to, and even if we don’t speak too much personally, it still makes me happy whenever we do have those times! (Btw I also loved seeing your outfit plans for theme parks)
@lunamoff You’re a really cool person to talk to in general! Even though we unfortunately don’t share many interests outside Redacted and Yuurivoice, it’s still interesting to see you talk about other things you like (even if it takes me some time to process it lol)
@sethsbooblicker (nice username) You make my day every time we talk LOL I love your art, and your personally is just as amazing!! You make everyone feel happier whenever you start talking in the GC or in the server and I enjoy reading our chats together
@eulogylullaby Aaaa I love it whenever we talk!! ^^ Whether it’s about Redacted or Limbus, I always end up feeling really happy inside whenever we speak! You’re such a kind person, and I always feel like it’s really easy for me to open up to you and just be myself, even if our interests are completely different
People who I also have a special place in my heart for (but just don’t know how to express my thoughts without repeating too many details from above snelsnwlsnw):
@sunfl0wer-h0ur @bunrubyy @oceanlue @outofthebluemoon @peacefullibrarian @rose-the-witch1 @emmaoftoomanyfandoms @4letteraroace @phantom-face @blissful-clown
thank you again for making all of these memories with me, i love you all so much <33

Furthermore, I have checked on your blog from pc view and the layout is such a beauty! (´>∀<`)♡
The grids, the fonts, the organization of each "window tab" or category is very neat (*゚ロ゚*)
Plus points for the Yae Miko chibi at the bottom right (which is actually Qiqi lol) + Raiden Shogun with dango chibi on the other side (ฅ¯ω¯ฅ )💓 IT'S SO CUTE! They look like stickers to accompany you while you scroll throughout your blog 😤
What I also LOVE is that the moving "Welcome to the Penpal Station!" sign near the navigation buttons.
All in all, it's a really aesthetic blog and easy to the eyes(Not sure for the ones with high brightness tho). I haven't actually gone through each and every link available in the pc layout (bc the signal is very very bad lmao) but I'm sure each will take me on a visually sweet surprise !!
I would also like to share my thoughts that I think your blog would be a mochi, if it were to be a food. I could feel the squishy, soft and round corners of it with just one look at your blog that is a mixture of complimenting purples and pinks (๑¯ㅁ¯๑)
*noms on your blog and im not leaving any leftovers*
>> I don't really wanna include this here in my blog appreciation post but I've been meaning to ask (and I might forget later that's why) on how do you fix your blog's layout on desktop customly? I'll probably just do this on another ask. I was curious as to how you are able to replace the feed tabs as "window tabs" and such 🤔 I'm a mobile user so it was really different for me HAHAHA <<
My asks always gets so long lmao I hope you don't mind. Tell me if you do mind. but at least I hope this could make your day better, especially when you're totally not having it today! :D
— Would definitely navigate the stars with you, 🍰.
im super super okay with long asks since i LIVE for these type of asks, you can make your asks as long as you like 😍😍😍
im relieved that my desktop theme is okay for you :DD it’s actually my first time doing custom layout (i felt like a boomer 💀💀) so its great to know that i did a good job on the theme <33 its kinda funny how you think my theme is like a mochi bcuz i was literally eating one while editing the desktop layout ✋✋✋
as for your question, i’ll try my best to make it sound easy to understand (because as a mobile user, i was absolutely confused with the whole thing back then until i explored it)
it’s a super easy thing to do: you just need to look for “edit html” and it’ll take you to where there’s a lot of codes displayed.
Tumblr media
and don’t worry - you don’t have to write anything on the codes because you can just copy paste ! there’s a lot of tumblr accounts here who makes free customized themes just for you. if a certain customized theme catches your eye, you can just go download it (aka lead you to a website where you can copy all of the codes) and paste it. be sure to remove all the original codes b4 you paste it tho !
once you pasted all the codes, just save it and voila, you have your new and customizable layout !! dw, you can edit the colors, fonts, size of posts, etc. (and even play music) :DDD
i hope this helps you comrade, if you’d like me to recommend you tumblr accounts with good themes, i suggest @/glenthemes / @/seyche / @/ricecodes / @/xuethms / @/mintrps :DDD

I can’t believe there are so many of you guys following this blog of mine!! Thank you all so much!!!! And to thank you, actually, I’ve decided to give you total power on my blog for a week!!
CHOOSE YOUR FIC!!
What the hell is that new crazy idea of yours, Carole?
Easy. To thank you for following my blog and supporting me, I’m going to let you choose the fics I’ll be writing for a whole week! During this week, I will be writing 5 one-shots, and update 2 series. You are to choose who the characters I write for will be and which series I should update!
How to participate?
Easy! You just have to vote! You can vote for 1 to 5 characters (as I’m writing five stories) along with 1 to 2 series you would like me to update. I will write a one-shot for the 5 characters and 2 series who got the highest number of votes! Of course, you can vote only once, so choose your series and characters wisely :) I’m counting on your fairplay if your fav is not selected by the others though, it’s a democratic vote!
You can vote either on anon or not, but please, send me an ask through my askbox, it’s easier for me to keep the count this way :)
The list of fics and characters you can vote for is under the cut :) Please, check it out before voting. Your vote will not be taken into account if you vote for a character who is not on the list (basically all the characters who are on my masterlist and for whom the requests are open; concerning the series, all the ones I write on my own).
When is this event gonna be?
The votes will be opened for four days : from tonight 30/08 to Tuesday 03/09.
I will then take a few days to write all the fics!! (I estimate it at two weeks, maybe a little more, We'll see, it depends too much on how much free time I get, it’s difficult to estimate).
Then, I’ll post a fic everyday for a week! First the five days, I’ll post the one-shots, then the two series.
I do need your participation for this event to work though, so please, vote!
Under the cut is the list in which you can make your choices :) Thank you again for reading my stories, and I hope you will enjoy the event!

The Birth of QAmom
Parenting influencers have embraced sex-trafficking conspiracy theories — and it’s taking QAnon from the internet into the streets
Rolling Stone   2020
by EJ Dickson
“… If somebody is brought into the QAnon orbit for a good cause, and they think this is a worthy narrative and it has this positive element to it, it’s not a far stretch to think that someone might be then convinced by additional Covid disinformation, or the really vile and vicious elements of the QAnon narrative, such as the anti-Semitism, that have nothing to do with saving the children,” Phillips says. “You have people entering into this world, thinking it’s about one thing, feeling good about connecting to it, and then it exposes them to all kinds of polluted information.”  Whitney Phillips, assistant professor of communication and rhetorical studies at Syracuse University.
“… It’s been thought of as this fringe conspiracy theory that only people super into 8chan and are sort of internet-savvy adhere to, but really it has a much broader appeal,” Khazarian says. “And that is sort of the danger of it — it can be something that’s very attractive to a suburban soccer mom.”  Zarine Khazarian, assistant editor at the Digital Forensic Research Lab.
What also makes child trafficking conspiracy theories so attractive to influencers, and so difficult to fight back against, is that, much like all other conspiracy theories, they are at least in part rooted in reality. Child trafficking is a legitimate and terrifying issue (albeit one rooted in statistics that are tenuous and arguably inflated); and there are extremely powerful people who have sexually abused children and not been held to account, as the Jeffrey Epstein case starkly demonstrated. “The tragedy is that these unfounded theories are damaging the actual cause,” says April Daniels Hussar, managing editor of the parenting website Romper.
While there is a tremendous chasm between acknowledging this reality and, say, embracing the belief that the star of Forrest Gump is harvesting adrenochrome from babies, it’s easy to see how the gap between these ideas can seem much smaller during unstable and frightening times; trusted influencers like Self promoting them makes it seem even more miniscule. And for mothers of small children trying to navigate the pandemic era, endlessly scrolling through pastel-pink versions of other, more contented lives, “it’s not a question of why would people believe such a crazy thing,” says Phillips. “It’s, why wouldn’t they?”

It took years for the cracks to emerge for Jadeja, who slowly started to realize that Q drops were laden with logical inconsistencies. A turning point for him was a follower asking Q to get Trump to say the term “tippy top” as proof of Trump’s knowledge of the conspiracy; when Trump did say the phrase during a 2018 Easter egg roll speech, Q believers rejoiced, believing it to be confirmation that Q was real. Jadeja did some research and saw that Trump had said the phrase many times before. “That’s when I realized this was all a very slick con,” he says.

Since you were recommending Dreamwidth, I decided to check it out. Is their anyway to look purely at art/fanfic without searching through someone's blog? What makes Tumblr so easy to use is that you can search through peoples tags quickly to find what you want, and I can't really find that on DW. Also, can you follow tags/interests on DW just like you do on Tumblr? It's a feature that allows me to keep up with my fandoms even when I'm not actively combing the tags and it's very helpful.
Hi anon, thanks for asking! Sorry for the delay.
Dreamwidth is constructed very differently from Tumblr, as you noticed. It was originally created as a fork of the Livejournal code, but has since developed in its own direction, as requests from the userbase came in.
To give you some parallels:
You can still follow individual users. In fact, you have a lot more control over how you follow users - you can adjust your following preferences to group users together into named dashes, for example. I have a dash for individual blogs and a separate one for communities (details below).
Most users do have a personal tagging system, and this generates an automatic list of their personal tags, available at the /tag URL for that user. So if I want to see all of the art that pentapus has ever posted (and I do, regularly), I just go to pentapus’s blog, glance at the taglist and pick the “art” tag. Voila, I have it all. No skipping stuff like Tumblr likes to do.
Now for what’s different:
DW doesn’t block your post for being “adult” or hide posts based on tags. Instead, you flag your individual posts or entire blog as adult, and if someone isn’t logged in, they get a warning before they see the material.
When I make a post on DW, I can literally control who can see it. I can either lock it to only my followers, to only a subset of my followers (groups I’ve put together privately, which my followers can’t see), or I can let everyone see it. I can choose my own tags for my own blog. I don’t have to worry about fighting over tags with another fandom I’ve never heard of, or strangers hopping into my blog and fighting with me over something they have no context for.
Where Dreamwidth is really different is in how it organizes what Tumblr does via general tags. DW does that via opt-in communities, which have mods and everything. When it comes to fannish content, I often won’t post that to my personal journal at all but to a community for that topic instead, or I’ll post it to my personal journal but I’ll post a notice about it at a relevant community. That way, I know that people who are interested in that topic can see the post. I also don’t spam my followers with 50 million Baze/Chirrut reblogs haha ha (still not apologizing).
I join and follow communities for topics I’m interested in. Those communities can show up on my dash/feed, mixed in with the individuals I follow, or I can separate them into their own dash/feed. I have the power!
I can lock my posts in communities to community members only, if I don’t want to tell the entire universe about my Baze/Chirrut feels but only want to talk to like-minded shippers. (Though really, I want to tell the entire universe.)
No need for sideblogs. Just post to communities related to that topic.
Functional cut tags.
Multiple icons on free accounts.
THREADED CONVERSATIONS IN CONTEXT, ALONG WITH EVERYONE ELSE’S COMMENTS ON THE SAME POST. ALSO, CONVERSATIONS WITHOUT REBLOGGING.
No ads.
No porn blog followers.
Community-run support, so you can literally see the support queue and usually get a helpful response within like 2-3 days at most, often faster for easy questions.
Help files? That tell you how to use the site? Linked from a button that says “Help”?
You can edit your posts, and there won’t be 500 copies of the version with the typo in it.
Screened comments that can be unscreened at will.
Long-form non-chat PM system.
Comment-tracking, even for posts you didn’t make.
Multiple icons, which allow you to mood theme your posts.
Polls, if you have a paying account.
Actual mood themes, if you have a paying account.
What does that mean?
No antis. Anti content is not posted to the communities, or if it is, mods remove it. Antis are allowed to form their own communities, and people who love the thing they hate just avoid those. (Most people don’t bother making anti comms and just occasionally mutter on their personal blogs. Overall anti noise level is much lower, comparatively speaking.)
No fighting over tags.
Better RP. Let’s be real, RPing on Tumblr is horrifying.
More control over what feeds I see and when.
More control over what other people see. I can post personal rl posts for my followers only, and they will never be seen by anyone who doesn’t follow me.
More personal connections among mutuals, as you’re able to talk either privately or in small groups about your personal life or interests without random people barging in, taking your sandwich, and kicking your shins.
Better privacy controls. Honestly, does Tumblr even have privacy?
But also, in the reverse, the ability to connect with most of the people who have a particular interest by posting in a community. Since communities are moderated, people don’t hide from them the way a lot of us hide from the tags on Tumblr. You also don’t have to call into the void for people to follow - you can literally just look at the community membership list and browse for cool people.
CONVERSATION.
Connection. Belonging to a community on DW is not like being on Tumblr. It’s much more personal and interconnected, with individual support. On the flip side, communities don’t have the kinds of requirements that Tumblr networks do. You don’t have to follow X or do Y and send in an application and give them your icon and description or any of that jazz. You click a button. There, you’ve joined. No submissions required. No mod has to trawl the tags for things to reblog - members just post their stuff directly to the community, or post to their personal blogs and post a link to the community.
None of this requires an xkit-style extension. All of these features are natively supported by the site itself.
The experience is very different, but it is very awesome. Much more interconnected, much less wank (not totally non-wanky, because fandom wanks, but the system is designed to make it harder to be a jerk and easier to be a friend).

sophy’s social media habits
After WisCon I like to make a post about how I use social media, but this is not just for fellow con-goers. It serves as a good update and reminder for anyone who wants to follow me on any of the many places today’s internet gives us to socialize.
If we met/chatted/interacted in some way at WisCon - please feel free to follow me on any of these sites, but also lmk who you are because I have memory/cognitive issues and don’t always automatically link people from in-person to online personas or might not recall who you are based just on your name and/or face so something like “we chatted about Thing after Panel on Day” is awesome. (or even we never got to chat but I saw you on X panel... which is why *I* often end up following ppl after WisCon - hi btw if you’re looking at this post because you’re wondering why I suddenly starting following you, this might be the answer!)
Because everyone does social media differently, here’s my basic deal:
I’m sophygurl everywhere but FB now, and my FB name is the one attached to my twitter account so I’m pretty easy to find under either name and honestly have no qualms about using my online and in-person names interchangeably so you can call me soph or sophy on FB and you call me Rose or Rosemary on tumblr, and you can call me any of those things in person and it’s all good with me.
Well, I’m still sophy on LJ but I’m really only on LJ anymore to comment on the accounts of my friends who aren’t switching over. The whole Russia and new TOS thing has me not wanting to add new content there and also I’ll likely delete my old content eventually, but the account itself will remain. SO. If you still use LJ actively in ways that are not linked to elsewhere - LMK and I’ll add you there and to the appropriate reading filters.
I’m sophygurl on DW and let me just say now - I don’t check in to read or post on either DW or LJ very often. I’d say it’s about once a month.
Also sophygurl on twitter, which finds it’s most active use around WisCon time and then around Big Brother season in the summer (it’s an obsession).
And sophygurl on tumblr, which is where I spend most of my online time. Not a ton of personal stuff goes there, as it’s mostly fandom related with some politics and silliness thrown in, but occasionally I make an original post about my actual life.
FB is where I’m most likely to post small personal snippets with DW being the place for longer more expansive (though more occasional) updates.
I’m never ever up to date on my reading on any of these sites and don’t expect anyone to be up to date on reading my stuff, either. That’s just how it goes these days. If there’s something you want to make sure I see - please do tag me!
I do have a blog reader which I get to around monthly, as well, so lmk if you have a blog I should be adding to that.
As a mostly homebound chick who is also an extrovert, I adore interaction of any kind - so pop me messages and while my energy levels might require that it take me some time to reply - I’ll be super happy to chat with you!
One of my most favorite things in the entire world is to give people TV show recs, so if you need an ice breaker or just really want some new shows to watch - I’m happy to discuss this at any time, really.
