“I swear I’m not starting this costume until after Anime Boston,” I said.
“I need to go up to Sewphisticated and Osgood’s before I’ll know what my options for fabric are so I should hold off on getting anything til then,” I said.
Well, we always knew that my will power wasn’t very good. Especially when it comes to Lucius. My hand slipped. I made the pendant Lucius wears in Heroes.
Rest of the costume to follow, haha. Not like I don’t have enough in the works to keep me busy for a solid year.
#Tei makes a thing#the crystal ended up much too matte I need to fix that#but my clearcoat has mysteriously run off#so it'll have to wait#outoftomes#(yes this is ALSO an offering to the RNG goddess)#(please bring me good luck!)

💀 - Do they think about death?
These days, it feels like death is all Wellson/Kestrel actually thinks about…
Backing up for a short overview:
About a year and a half ago, the guild of whom I had been part were made pawns by an organization of mercenaries in their plot to awake a slumbering demi-goddess by using an artifact tainted by blood magic and the Old Ones, as well as lift several individuals to the realm of shadow ascendency. Ultimately, the latter part of their plan failed, while the former part has now gone unresolved for a year and a half.
Fast forward six months or so. Wellson was shot. The RNG gods were not especially kind that evening, and – yes – he died for a few minutes. That is, he’s touched (and been behind) the veil. Unfortunately for him, the veil does not want to let go, and he’s living on borrowed time. Meanwhile, Wellson suffers from the pain of his body dying and wanting to be dead, and survives by infusing himself with natural products imbued with Shadow.
Tying that to the formerly-slumbering demi-goddess, during the Legion invasions last year, Wellson went on a pilgrimage of sorts with a vicar who heads a cult of shadow in the Church of the Holy Light. (Peeps who want cult play, if you’re serious and don’t mind the reality of character death, let’s do this.) With the Legion invasions raging, Wellson and the vicar went searching for the Binding Stone of Cær Darrow, the stone that had ‘locked’ the Rune Stone of Cær Darrow – the old, Quel’Dorei stone which Gul’dan had used to create the Altars of Storms – to this realm. Wellson and the vicar believed that by removing the tainted forgery that serves as the demi-goddess’s heart, and instilling her with her original heart (the binding stone), the demi-goddess could grant him a reprieve from dying so soon. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the binding stone had been pilfered prior to their arrival, and is still missing.
A quick aside about lore-abiding in these story arcs… Yes, the binding stone is an invention inspired by lore, just as is the demi-goddess, Rìona. While I will not say what she is (because spoilers), I will offer three possibilities. Chronicle, Vol. I lists the Wild Gods with the caveat of ‘Among the Listed Wild Gods were…’ (Chronicle, 40), so she may well be one of them; she could also be some sort of necromantic creation; or – just perhaps – she was willed into existence by her believers (think ‘Slender Man’ a la Azeroth).
All of which brings us to now – this is the very IC reason why Wellson and Quai have left the sloop: they are on the hunt for any scrap of information they may be able to find about the original Runestone – and how it had been bound to the corporeal realm. And so, they have set out into the Ghostlands on foot in order to infiltrate Farstrider Enclave and recover any pertinent information.
*whew*
In short… Yes. He thinks about death. A lot.
Thank you for the question (and patience for reply)!
