Marina Bay Sands

Sunday, Becca and I spent the afternoon being tourists with Heather, a Bangkok YoungLife Fellow and her parents.

The Marina Bay Sands is a giant hotel that opened in 2010. As usually, let me plug in a lil’ wiki-knowledge: “The complex is topped by a 340-metre-long (1,120 ft) SkyPark with a capacity of 3,900 people and a 150 m (490 ft) infinity swimming pool, set on top of the world's largest public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north tower by 67 m (220 ft).” Woah. 

To get the the top, there’s an entry fee of $22 bucks, but you can use that amount towards your food and drinks at C’est La Vie, the restaurant up top.

Funny story, we ended up getting a pretty great table, right on the edge so we had awesome views, but we ordered and 45 minutes later asked if we were ever going to get our drinks, only to find out our order never got submitted. So, another 15 minutes passed before we ever got our drinks. We weren’t too happy with the wait, although of course the atmosphere was enjoyable, so it wasn’t a waste of time, per se. We did, however, complain to management and were comped 6 free vouchers which we ended up using another night of the week- which was cool since I got to see the city from above lit up.
