Also, I just know Steb has that medic repertoire of 'The only thing that matters to me is the information that'll help me treat you; you can lie that's okay but just give me what I need to treat you' -him just so used to circumstances where it's 'i have to treat this stranger, knowing nothing about them or their full conditions' but taking little notes/getting information if he can & saving it for later just in case ('what color bandage do you want, that style makes them feel itchy so not that one') -when it came to people with shimmer/chems in their system he treated them with the same measures of anybody else 'they are people after all, just have chemicals kicking around that I need to be mindful about' and gentle about inquires with no lecturing or judgement

-thoughtful phrasing of his evaluating questions/some people he would stick with a more usual pain scale (1-10 like in real life) but usually tries to figure out it in their words+their own personal knowledge to weigh it better (some people have high pain tolerances, some people don't etc)
