Helloo!! Arcane is ending soon, so I was wondering if I could request the Arcane cast reacting to a reader who suspiciously seems to know everything thatâs gonna happen in the plot? They always appear where the action is, and they warn about dangers before they happen, trying to âsubtlyâ change the outcomes of horrible events. Tragedies are a core element of the story, so I feel that the narrative would create another disaster if one event got prevented, but the thought of these characters being safe and happy after all theyâve been through would be so healing :3 Itâs up to you which way you want to take it đđ Iâm fine with both platonic and romantic, but Iâd love to see Vi, Jinx and Caitlyn if thatâs ok :)
I love love love your writing, reading your HCâs before bed has become an important part of my day and itâs always a joy to see your work pop up in the tags <3 Thank you for letting us read your creations đ I canât wait to read the second part of your Caitlyn fic!!

You were always a mysterious figure to them. One that appeared at the right time in the right place whenever they needed you the most.
You never revealed a thing about yourself. You never even told them your name. But one thing they did know was that you had always looked out for them, like a guardian angel in a way.
And on one fateful day, after another evaded tragedy, they finally caught up to you just before you could leave again.
ăVI
"Who the hell are you?" She asked completely out of breath after having practically chased you down through the dense crowd of the undercity. She had seen you so many times before. So, so many times. And every time she did, you were somehow able to save her from certain death by subtly showing her the right way to survive.
It took her a while to piece together that you must've known the outcome of every situation she had ever been in beforehand. That was the only logical answer to the many questions around your existence she could come up with, but it wasn't enough to satiate her desperate curiosity. There were times she had chosen against your signs, and the consequences ended up being almost grave. So whoever you were, you must've had otherworldly knowledge about everything and everyone.
Because whilst she didn't know a thing about you, you certainly knew everything about her.
Raising your hooded head, you idly played with the pocket watch in your hand, piercing eyes meeting her own. "Does that matter?" You ask, and truthfully, it shouldn't. Who cared about your identity when she knew she could trust you? But that wasn't enough. "Yeah, it does to me. Now tell me who you are already. I... I've been seeing you everywhere for years now. You have always been there and I..." She trailed off, suddenly losing her confidence.
She had thought of this moment for years now, imagined exactly what she would say to you. And yet, ultimately, she found herself speechless in your presence that seemed to drown out everyone else around you two. "I see... but my apologies, we were not supposed to meet yet." You said calmly, seemingly undisturbed by her appearance. "Time and fate... they both are so tightly intertwined and yet also so far apart from each other... how odd that the timeline changed so suddenly again, no?" Your words made zero sense in her mind, but that just added to your mystery.
"What-" "-Are you happy with the way your life is going?" You ask, and that made the woman pause in thought. The answer was positive, of course, but only because you had a strong hand in it once she accepted your help. She thought of Powder back home, who was probably happily tinkering away with the young girl Isha they recently took in, and that made her finally nod. "Yes. All thanks to you." "Not at all. It was you who chose your fate. I only showed you the alternative paths."
You two stood there in silence for a moment before she shoved her hands into her pockets and looked over to a nearby bar she liked to frequent in-between missions. "Let's go grab a drink and talk. It's on me." Deciding to accept this new path the timelines had given you, you accept her invitation with a smile.
ăJINX
"You're terrible at your job." "Am I? I like to pride myself in my good work ethic, actually." Jinx was idly swinging her gun back and forth on her index finger whilst she rested up in the ceiling above you, clearly having followed you around secretly. But she knew that you already knew that from the start.
Scoffing at your words, she jumped down and landed in front of your indifferent figure as she pointed the gun right at you. "Pah! You're a funny one... so what are you? A time traveler?" "Ah, I like the title Timekeeper more." You were aggravating but at the same time a familiar face she had grown to appreciate deeply. You were the reason she was doing well in life now, even if she ignored you for a very, very long time. She thought she knew better despite all the odds pointing against her, especially you. Ultimately, she learned her lesson when she finally just listened to you.
"Ugh... whatever. Can't ya at least tell me your name?" "No." "Man, you're such a pain in the butt!" "Likewise." Rolling her eyes, she lowered her gun and lazily leaned against a wall, arms crossed tightly as she observed the crowds passing by from outside the abandoned building you were in. An admittedly comfortable silence fell between you two, one that relaxed her shoulders and made her sigh in defeat after a while. Your presence was always so comforting.
"So, you let me catch up to you this time. Finally tired of the cat and mouse game we've been playing?" You lowered your head at her question, a sly smile on your face that made her narrow her eyes in interest. "Perhaps. Or maybe I just wanted to ask you how you're doing?" What an odd question, considering the context of your meet-up. And yet, it was somehow fitting coming from you specifically. Wasn't your whole mysterious mission revolving around her well-being anyway?
"Shouldn't you know the answer to that, oh so esteemed 'Timekeeper'?" You found no offense in the mockery of your title. Just pure amusement. "I'm afraid that mind reading was not in the initial job listing." Jinx took a moment to think about your question carefully then, deciding to indulge you despite her better judgment. Things were good now, after all. She, Isha, and Vi were together again as a family, including Vander, even if they had yet to find a way to turn him back properly. But everything was happy otherwise... because you made sure that the end to her story wouldn't be a painfully tragic one.
"... I'm fine. Everything's fine." She muttered, and your smile widened at that answer. "So... I'm not terrible at my job, after all?" Pressing a playful hand to her chin, Jinx acted as though she was in deep thought. "Hmmm... I guess I'll need more convincing than all of this to decide." "Of course... then how about we start with running away before the Enforcers show up to raid this place in approximately... 2 minutes?"
Jinx rolled her eyes again with a grin but agreed to follow you, very much glad to have learned her lesson at your side throughout the years.
ăCAITLYN
She was ignorant towards your judgment from the start, especially as she was able to analyze very quickly that you weren't all you claimed you were. You were too smart, too fast, too aware of everything. It was clear that you already knew how her life story especially would come to an end. But that didn't mean that she'd always listen to you.
Caitlyn believed to know better, even going as far as to protest against your word, which she had learned to be fate itself. And sometimes she'd nearly get away with her life, and on others, you'd be the one to show up just in time to save her. It was embarrassing and at times even near humiliating, but you never judged her, just silently left every time she attempted to confront you.
And this time she had finally succeeded.
Now dressed in a formal uniform, she watched your still form stare out of a window in her estate, as though you weren't practically trespassing. But Caitlyn was used to that. "It's going to rain soon. I wonder if the construction workers will get done with the restoration on time today before the first drops fall." The navy haired woman came to stand next to you, ears finely tuned to your calming voice she had heard in her dreams and mind for so many years. It felt surreal to stand next to you at last.
"You already know the answer... but I think Mother will send out guards soon to retrieve them." Her mother, who had only narrowly escaped her death, if it wasn't for you. She had only gotten a little injured from falling debris, but that was all that happened. All of the councilors and people in the building had survived the Jinx attack. No grave injuries. All because you prevented it by throwing Jinx slightly off balance enough to make her shot not as precise.
"... Thank you." "For what?" The right answer would be absolutely everything, but she refrained, noting that you didn't seem keen on praise. You saw it as your job. As your duty to her for a reason unknown. "For saving my mother." That should do.
You nodded at her words in acknowledgment as your eyes spied Ambessa retreating with her troops in defeat. They were practicing chased away by the council since their help was unwelcome. Served them right for meddling with the business of other nations. You had exposed their ulterior motives in secret, and that's all it took for the tide to turn against them. "Just my duty." "I knew you'd say that... but I want to reward you for all you've done. If it wasn't for you... then I... I don't want to know what I would have become."
You glanced at her with an unreadable look in your eye, and that reconfirmed her suspicions regarding how deep she would have fallen otherwise. It's best not to think of it.
Humming to yourself in thought, you gave her a small smile. "Very well, if you insist... you can treat me to some fine tea and cookies." Caitlyn weakly mirrored your grin, relief filling her senses at you accepting her offer. She was worried you wouldn't. "Of course. Follow me." Linking your arms together carefully, you made your way through the dim halls.
A chuckle left your lips when it indeed began to rain.

Series Masterlist
Joel's hands gripped the steering wheel as he stared blankly at the faded brick building connected to the small, run down parking lot. He watched as the clock ticked down to six in the evening, and with each passing minute a new car parked nearby or someone walked through the double doors. He wasn't sure what he expected, but he was surprised to see people of all ages streaming inside.
Then he saw a young woman with two children, one in each hand, neither of which could have been over seven years old, walk inside with watery eyes and he dropped his gaze to his lap in shame.
Mia had been gone for nearly ten years. He had no business being there. His grief wasn't fresh. Over the years, he's learned to cope with it, to live alongside it. The people who were there that night needed the support.
Joel didn't need support. He was just lonely.
He reached for his key, still dangling in the ignition, when his phone rang. With a sigh, he patted down the front of his jeans until he located his phone, then lifted his hips off the worn seat with a grunt so he could fish it out.
"Yeah?"
"You better not be thinkin' 'bout leavin'."
Joel swiveled around in alarm, searching the parking lot for his brother's truck, but all he saw were the last few stragglers hurriedly walking up to the front doors, the anguish practically weighing them down as they moved.
"You watchin' me now?"
Tommy chuckled on the other end.
"Nah, I'm at home. I just know you."
Joel rolled his eyes as the clock ticked to 6:01 on the dash.
"This is stupid, Tommy."
"It ain't stupid. It's been almost ten years and you've never looked twice at another woman. You can tell me you've moved on or that you're fine, but I'm not buying your bullshit," Tommy said sternly on the other end. "I don't think you ever gave yourself a chance to process what happened and it's important you do that. For your mental health and all that."
"Maria tell you to say that?" Joel scoffed, but still unbuckled his seatbelt and opened the door.
"Maybe. Don't matter who said it, it's true."
"Fine. I'm walkin' in now, I'll call you later," Joel said, then hung up without waiting for a reply.
The building wasn't very big. From the lobby, Joel could hear a male's voice making what sounded like brief introductions as he strolled quickly down the hall. He rested his hand on the push bar and took a deep breath. Right as he was about to enter, he heard someone else's light footsteps jogging up behind him. He turned around as you approached, a little breathless and with a guilty smile.
"Oh, good, I'm not the only one who's late," you said, nodding towards the door.
"Uh, yeah," Joel said, clearing his throat softly, "we can share the heat," he joked, opening the door and stepping aside so you could walk through first. You shot him a grateful look and mouthed thank you before entering the room.
The group all turned their heads at the disruption, as expected, but the counselor waved them in with a warm smile.
"Welcome! Have a seat, we were just getting started."
Joel found the first empty chair he could, in the very last row closest to the door. You glanced around the room before sliding into the same row as him, just a few seats down.
"As I was saying, welcome to the grief and loss support group. I'm Dr. Harris, but please feel free to call me Ryan."
Ryan was young. Definitely under forty. Something about that irked Joel. He imagined this man going to school to learn how to be caring, how to listen and say all the right words at the right time so he could make a decent paycheck and call himself doctor while he went home to his wife and picket fence and his patients went home with a gaping hole in their hearts.
"There is no wrong way to grieve," Ryan was saying from the podium with a practiced look of solemnity. "All of you are here for different reasons. And while you may look around here and think nobody else could possibly understand what you are feeling, I am here to tell you that you are simply wrong." Ryan took a moment to let his words settle over the group before continuing. "We have all lost somebody in our lives. That is the common thread that weaves us all together. And I'm here to tell you to use it." Ryan clenched his fists for emphasis and Joel had to resist the urge to roll his eyes. "Lean on each other. Listen to one another. This is a safe space. Nobody will judge you here, no matter what you may think, everybody in this room is here for the same reason."
After what felt like an eternity, Ryan invited the people in the room to approach the podium to speak, no longer than ten minutes, he had said, reminding everyone that their time was limited and they always could speak again at the next meeting.
One by one, people trickled up to the front of the room. First it was an elderly woman who explained with tears in her eyes that her husband of forty years passed away a month ago.
"It sounds silly," she sniffled, "but it feels like I'm... untethered. Like I lost my connection to this world when he left and I'm scared I might just... float away."
Next was a man around Joel's age who visibly struggled to hold back his tears about his late sister.
"I just keep reminding myself I didn't cause it, I can't control it, can't undo it. I'm really mad at myself for not paying attention to the warning signs. She was struggling, y'know?" His glassy eyes addressed the group briefly before he cast his gaze back down. "The best thing I can do is try to rebuild. Don't let the anguish fester. Don't let it consume me. Because she wouldn't want that."
After that, a girl no older than twenty, arms and neck covered in tattoos walked to the front. "She was my best friend since we were eight. And I know it's my fault, I know it is," she choked out, tears slipping down her cheeks. "I gave her her first hit. I could see she was falling too deep into it and I didn't try to help her, I was too focused on my own shit and not seeing what was right in front of me. To this day, I can't look her mom in the eye-" the girl hung her head and took a moment to gather herself. Chairs squeaked as the group patiently waited for her to continue. "But I'm clean and sober almost six months now," she said with a watery smile. A small round of applause broke out amongst the group and she nodded her thanks. "I'm thinking about going to school for social work. Maybe I can honor her memory in some way."
Out of the corner of his eye he saw you cross and uncross your legs nervously but made no move to walk to the front.
Same as him.
When the clock on the wall ticked closer to seven, Ryan addressed the group one final time.
"I'll stick around in case anybody wants to have a talk after group. Just a reminder that I'm only here once a week, but my esteemed colleague, Grace, runs another group on Tuesdays, so please feel free to stop by one or both. I also left some cards in the back next to the coffee. My information is on there if you would like a one on one appointment and on the back is the crisis hotline. Please take one, you never know when you may need it."
The room collectively seemed to stand, a murmur rippling through the group as people began to softly speak again, reaching out to neighbors, either introducing themselves or catching up from the last session. Joel scratched at his chin and looked around the room as people continued to filter around. Some paired off to grab coffee, some went to talk to Ryan, but Joel just stood there. All alone.
He took a deep breath and headed for the back, then lingered at the small stack of business cards Ryan had mentioned. He picked one up and flipped it over, studying it, when he heard a soft voice behind him.
"Excuse me," you said, and he swiveled around in surprise.
"Oh, sorry," he replied, stepping to the side so you could reach the coffee. He pretended to look at the card but watched as you filled up a cup. He waited for you to add cream or sugar but you didn't. You lifted the cup to your lips and took a tentative sip before recoiling at the heat and doing it again.
"That, uh, any good?"
Your eyes locked onto his and you shrugged. "'Bout what you'd expect."
He smiled and looked around the room, fidgeting with the edge of the card before sliding it into his pocket. "This your first session, too?"
You shook your head and stepped aside, a little closer to him, so others could get to the coffee. "I've been coming here almost two months."
That surprised Joel. Based on the way the rest of the group seemed familiar with each other, he had suspected the two of you were both new.
"Two months? Wow," Joel said, "how's it workin' out for you, if you don't mind my askin'?"
You sighed and gave him a little smile.
"Some days are better than others. But I figure it doesn't hurt, so..." you trailed off and crossed your arms, your fingertips tapping against the paper cup. "My mom begged me to come, so I did. I think it makes her believe she's helping in some way by pushing it and I grew tired of feeling like an emotional burden."
Joel frowned. "I'm sure that ain't true. No parent thinks their kid is an emotional burden."
You chuckled and drained the rest of your cup. "You'd be surprised." You tossed the cup into the trash before giving him a brighter smile. Although expressing your emotions was the entire reason you were there, you still felt uncomfortable doing it. "So this was your first time? What did you think?"
"Jury's still out," Joel replied honestly. "Promised my brother I would give it a try, same as you. My daughter just went off to college last month and I think he and his wife are worried 'bout me bein' all alone for the first time in, well... forever, I suppose." His lips pursed in thought for a moment. "Feels kinda like I don't belong here. My wife passed almost ten years ago. I've learned to live with it by now. It ain't as raw as all that-" he gestured up to the podium, referencing all the individuals who poured their hearts out for the past hour. Then he realized he was rambling and chuckled. "Sorry. Can't seem to shut up." He looked at you sheepishly and you smiled back.
"That's good. That's what you're supposed to do here," you assured him, then took a deep breath. "I lost my fiancé a year ago, so I can relate... kind of."
"I'm sorry," he said, furrowing his brow and examining your face. "You're so young, you shouldn't know what that feels like at your age."
"Not that young. I'm thirty-one," you joked. He laughed and rubbed his chin.
"Well I got twenty years on you, seems pretty young to me."
"You're fifty-one?" you asked, and he nodded. "You look good, I wouldn't have guessed a day over..." you trailed off as you studied his face and he grinned.
"Go ahead, be honest."
"Forty-three," you decided, and Joel laughed. When was the last time he felt this lighthearted?
"Well that's the nicest thing I've heard all week," he replied. The room began to thin out and you shifted your weight.
"Well, I guess I should get going," you told him, almost sounding regretful. Then you pinched your eyebrows together. "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."
"Joel," he said, sticking an arm out to shake your hand. You gave him a warm smile before telling him your name, your hand getting dwarfed by his thick, rough fingers.
"Will I see you next week, Joel?"
"Yeah," he replied, walking out with you and holding open the door. "I'll give it another chance."
"Good. I mean, you know, I'm glad you're giving it another chance," you found yourself inexplicably stumbling over your words and before your face began to heat up you veered off towards your car with a quick wave.
Joel's eyes trailed after you for a minute before he opened the door to his truck and climbed inside. He absentmindedly rubbed his thumb against his lower lip, lost in thought while he stared straight ahead at the emptying parking lot. Then you drove by in a higher end white SUV and he watched as you took a right turn out of the lot and disappeared down the road. He sighed and started his truck, realizing he was one of the last cars in the lot, and decided to stop at a fast food drive thru on the way home.
"Uncle Tommy told me you went to a grief support group the other day, how did it go?" Sarah asked him over FaceTime. He pushed the lever on his recliner and leaned back into the chair with a grunt.
"S'alright," he mumbled.
"Did you share anything?"
"No."
"Well, why not?"
"'Cause, baby girl, these people just lost someone close to 'em. I can't get up there and talk 'bout your mama, it's been so long-"
"That doesn't matter," she said, interrupting him. He could hear other kids in the background laughing but she remained focused on her screen. "I don't think you've ever really processed Mom's death and it's important to me that you try. I worry about you, old man," she teased, and Joel grinned.
"No need to worry 'bout me, I'm stayin' busy."
"Yeah, doing what? And don't tell me you're eating frozen meals and watching baseball because it'll break my heart."
Joel's eyes drifted to the empty plastic tray on the coffee table.
"No," he said gruffly. "Ain't baseball season. I'm watchin' basketball."
Sarah rolled her eyes. "Dad," she whined, "what about your friends? The guys from work?"
He didn't have the heart to tell her they were busy with their families, with their wives, so he lied.
"Yeah, I'm gonna get together with Jimmy later this week. Gonna shoot some pool."
"That sounds great!" Sarah exclaimed, her face instantly brightening. Her eyes snapped up to someone behind her phone and she grinned, holding up one finger, then looked back at him. "Listen, Dad, I gotta run. I promised a few friends I would go to the football game with them."
"Oh, so you'll watch football with your friends and not me?" he teased, and she giggled. "Alright then, text me when you get back home safe."
"I will. I love you."
No matter how many times he heard it, those words always warmed his heart.
"Love you too, baby girl."
The call ended and he set his phone down with a sigh. Sarah was right. He couldn't waste away in his house all alone, waiting for her to come home to visit or for Tommy and Maria to come by for dinner. He needed to get a hobby. He glanced outside then looked at the time before turning off the television and pushing himself out of his recliner with a groan. He shuffled down the hall to his bedroom to change out of his old sweatpants and ratty tshirt, then snatched his keys off the kitchen counter and headed out to the driveway.
He drove aimlessly through town, his window down with his arm hanging out, soaking up the sun's rays. Kids were playing on the sidewalks and people were walking their dogs or pushing strollers. Everyone just seemed so... happy. Content.
Maybe he should get a dog.
Maybe he should start with a fish, first.
He jumped on the highway and cruised with one hand on the steering wheel. Hank Williams crooned from the radio and Joel took a deep, relaxing breath. He was coming up on the exit for the mall. Sarah loved dragging him to the mall. A smile played on his lips and he figured why not.
He veered off the highway and slowed when he approached the red light, the mall parking lot straight ahead. It didn't look terribly busy. With the weather as nice as it was, he imagined most people would be spending their time outside.
Joel found a good spot right out front. He shoved his hands deep in his pockets and walked inside through the Macy's. A blast of freezing cold air conditioning hit him like a ton of bricks, cooling the sweat that was collecting on the back of his neck. He managed to make his way through the maze of the department store and entered the mall itself. There were a few groups of girls around Sarah's age giggling and carrying shopping bags and the random couple here or there walking into William Sonoma or Brookstone.
When he passed by the food court, he saw a few solitary older men sipping coffee and reading the paper or people watching. Joel huffed under his breath, wondering who on earth would come to the mall just to read a paper until he realized he was no better.
Was he going to become just like them one day? Would he come to the mall to nurse a coffee just so he wouldn't feel so alone? The thought had his throat closing up.
He paused and leaned against a railing overlooking the bottom floor of the mall, pretending to be looking for someone when in reality he was struggling to breathe. His heart was fluttering too fast in his chest and his vision was narrowing.
"Shit," he whispered to himself, rubbing his eyes and trying to focus on taking deep breaths. It was like reality crashed down around him all at once: Sarah was moved out of the house. Tommy was happily married. And Joel was going to die all alone.
He gasped and blinked, trying to clear his head and mentally talk himself down, but it was no use. He leaned forward a bit to rest his forehead on the cool, stainless steel railing but his knees began to buckle. Just when he thought he would need to stop someone and beg them to call an ambulance, he heard someone say his name, temporarily snapping him out of his daze.
"Are you okay?" you asked, the smile slipping from your face when you noticed how flush he looked. He could only manage to shake his head. Without hesitating, you wrapped an arm around his shoulders and helped him stand, then glanced around. Spotting an empty bench, you led him over and helped him sit. You rubbed your palm over his upper back soothingly and sat next to him, reminding him to breathe deeply until his vision cleared and he felt his strength return.
"Christ," he mumbled. He sat up and leaned back so the back of his head rested on the bench and stretched his long legs out. "Thank you," he added, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers.
"No problem," you said, "is everything okay?"
"Yeah. Or, no. I don't know," he sighed, dropping his hand from his face. "I think it just hit me all at once."
You slid over on the bench to give him more room. "What hit you all at once?"
"That my little girl is growin' up and -" he stopped himself, the words and I'm all alone getting trapped in his throat. "And I just miss her, is all."
You slowly nodded and glanced around the mall. "What does she like?"
He smiled. "Clothes. Music. Makeup. Books."
"What kind of books?"
"The fantasy kind. Y'know, like Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter."
A huge grin spread across your face. "Follow me, I have an idea," you said, standing up and looking down at him before you realized you might have overstepped. "I mean, unless you're-"
"No, let's go," he replied, standing up and stretching out an arm for you to lead the way. He fell in step next to you as you led him down towards the other end of the mall and after a few minutes, he realized where you were leading him.
"The bookstore?"
"Yep," you said cheerily, shooting him a playful grin. "Trust me."
And he did.
"There's some really incredible series out there right now. Why don't we pick one out, you can read it and share it with her so you guys have something to do together from a distance? Do you know if she's read The Word of the Heir? That's by an incredibly talented author who actually got the idea when she was only seven years old," you told him excitedly, leading him deep into the bookstore, dodging tables and displays until you made it to the fantasy section. Joel slowed down and looked around, his panic attack slipping further and further from his mind.
"Uh, I ain't sure," he replied as you held up the book. You tucked it under your arm and began to look again.
"How about Empire of Kings? I haven't read that one but the author is relatively new and I've heard he's an extremely talented storyteller."
Joel shrugged, again unsure what Sarah may or may not have read. All of the titles sounded so foreign to him until his eyes landed on the spine of a thick, hardcover book.
"Oh, this one sounds familiar," he said, plucking it from the shelf. "The Crimson Stone. I think she wanted to read this but I don't think she ever finished it. It's a series-"
"Yeah, I know that one," you told him quietly. He glanced down at the book again and read the author's name.
"Daniel Davis, ain't this the guy who died in that bad wreck downtown?" Joel mumbled as he flipped the book over in his hands to read the back. You nodded. "Maybe I'll get this one."
"Don't waste your money, I can give it to you for free," you said, gently taking it from his hands. You ran your palm distractedly over the cover before flipping it open and looking at the tiny black and white photo of the author on the inside jacket. "This was my fiancé," you added, your voice thick. Joel's eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Shit," he mumbled. "I-I'm sorry, his name just sounded familiar, I remember it from the paper..." he trailed off, floundering for what to say to comfort you. Why couldn't he fucking think?
"It's okay," you told him, waving him off, but the guilt still laid heavy in his chest. "There's no way you would have known." You slowly closed the book, giving the picture one more glance, and handed it back to him. "But really, if you want to read them I have tons of copies just sitting around. He had a few other books outside of this series, as well, if you guys wanted them."
Joel's eyebrows knit together. "I don't wanna take your books. They gotta have sentimental value or somethin'."
"No, seriously, I have boxes of them just sitting there. He was in the middle of signing copies for readings he was supposed to do before-" you stopped yourself and cleared your throat. "Anyway. I can bring them to group next week or you can come by the house and look through them yourself if you like."
Joel nodded and nervously chewed the inside of his cheek. "Do you wanna talk 'bout it?"
You looked up at him then, all wide eyed and filled with so much sadness that it made his chest ache. No one so young and pretty should have to go through so much pain. Your eyes drifted over his face for a moment, quietly studying him before responding. "Yeah. I kind of do."
Joel looked over his shoulder and spotted the café across from the bookstore. "You wanna get a coffee and find a quiet bench or somethin'?"
"That sounds nice," you replied, so he put the books back on the shelf and walked out into the mall. He spotted a bench near an empty storefront and he told you to go have a seat with the promise of bringing you back something to drink. There wasn't a line at the counter. He couldn't imagine many people wanted coffee that late in the day, so it only took a few minutes before the barista slid the two cups of black coffee across the counter and he met you back at the bench.
"Black, right?"
You smiled and gingerly took the cup. "Yeah, how did you know?"
"From group the other day," he replied, then sat down with a grunt. You sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, each of you letting your coffees cool before you spoke.
"I usually don't talk about it. Every week I tell myself I'm gonna go up to that podium and pour my heart out and every week I chicken out."
Joel didn't say a word. He learned early on with Sarah when she was upset, she just wanted someone to listen to her. So that's exactly what he did. He sipped his coffee and just listened. And before you even realized it, you were telling him everything.
You began by telling him Daniel was from Austin but you met in Portland, where you grew up. For a while, the two of you tried doing a long-distance relationship, but once you were finished with school you took him up on the offer to move in with him in Texas. Shortly thereafter, he proposed and you had spent the last year of his life planning your dream wedding. The night of the accident, you had been touring a venue an hour outside the city. It was dark when you finished up and drove back home.
Daniel didn't do anything wrong. You insisted Joel knew that first.
A truck driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and ran a light, completely crushing the driver's side and killing Daniel instantly. Somehow, you had only come out of the accident with a small concussion and a badly bruised chest from the seatbelt.
"Jesus," Joel muttered when you exhaled a shaky breath. "I'm sorry, darlin'. That's some fucked up shit." His eyes widened and he straightened up in his seat. "Shit, sorry for cursin'... twice." He scratched the back of his head uncomfortably and a slow smile spread across your face. He nearly jumped out of his skin when you burst out laughing.
"Thank you," you said in between giggles. He grinned, confused but happy you were laughing and not crying. "I needed that. And you're right, it was some fucked up shit."
Joel chuckled and took a sip from his coffee. He heard his phone ring so he pulled it out of his pocket and glanced at the screen before silencing the call and putting his phone away.
"You can take it," you said, wiping a stray tear from your eye and jutting your chin towards his phone.
"Just my brother. I'll call him back later."
"Ah, the infamous brother that made you go to group?"
"The very same."
"Younger or older?"
"Younger, but the way he bosses me 'round you'd never know it," Joel said with a grin.
"He's probably just looking out for you."
"He knows I'm feelin' especially lonely without Sarah. Sarah's my daughter, by the way," he said, pulling his phone out and showing you his lock screen: it was a selfie of him and Sarah on the beach, Joel looked red as a lobster and Sarah's hair looked tangled from the wind but there was no denying the happiness in both their eyes.
"She's beautiful," you said warmly. He smiled and put his phone away.
"Got that from her mama."
"I don't know, I see a little bit of you in her smile," you teased, bumping up against his shoulder playfully. He rolled his eyes but didn't argue.
"What I'm tryin' to say is, I can relate a bit to what you're goin' through. Y'know, losin' a partner and feelin' like you got no one left," he said. You took a deep breath.
"Yeah, sounds like you do."
Joel nervously picked at his jeans, trying to figure out the right way to say what he wanted to say without sounding like an old creep, but before he could open his mouth, you spoke first.
"Maybe we can hang out together and keep each other company?" you offered. He turned his head and grinned.
"I was 'bout to suggest the same thing."
"Really?" you asked, looking as relieved as he felt. He nodded.
"Sounds like we both could use a friend."
Something in your expression shifted. It was too quick. He couldn't pinpoint it but whatever it was disappeared, leaving behind a genuine smile.
"I would really like that, Joel."
"What the hell? You couldn't call me back yesterday?" Tommy scolded when he marched into the small, messy office the following morning. Joel glanced up from behind his desk; papers, a calculator and a pencil scattered about in front of him. He took his reading glasses off with a sigh, abandoning his work. He hated doing the administrative part of his job. He always preferred to be on site or meeting with clients.
"I was busy."
"Busy?" Tommy repeated before collapsing in the worn out chair across from him.
"Yeah, busy. I was... with a friend," Joel mumbled, trying to sound nonchalant but Tommy's ears perked up.
"A friend? Who?"
Joel shrugged. "Someone I met at that group you made me go to."
Tommy's eyes lit up. "Hey, that's great. See? I knew it'd be good for you. What's his name?"
Joel pursed his lips before softly saying your name and Tommy raised an eyebrow.
"A woman? That's even better, Joel."
"It ain't like that-"
"'Course not," Tommy said, "I'm just sayin' it's a step in the right direction."
"She's too young," Joel said defensively, giving Tommy pause.
"Okay..."
"We're just friends. She ain't from 'round here, ain't got anyone in Texas."
Tommy frowned as he watched Joel shift uncomfortably in his chair, wondering what made his brother get so sensitive, so he chose to tread lightly.
"So you're keepin' each other company. That's nice."
"Yeah," Joel said, standing up with a grunt and rubbing his lower back before he snatched his coat from the wall. "Ready to go?"
"Sure," Tommy said, standing to follow Joel out of the office. While he locked the door behind him, Tommy couldn't help but ask, "How young is too young?"
"Thirty-one," Joel replied, fishing the keys out of his pocket.
Tommy shrugged, falling in step next to his brother as they walked towards the parking lot. "Sounds like an adult to me," he muttered, but Joel chose to ignore it. "When are you seein' her again?"
"End of the week," Joel replied before climbing into the truck.
"Friday?"
"Yeah, after work. We were gonna order some dinner and look through some books she's tryin' to get rid of."
The corner of Tommy's mouth twitched. "So, like a date?"
"It ain't a date," Joel said firmly, his jaw set as he pulled out of the parking lot and began to drive in the direction of the first worksite. "She's mourin' the loss of her husband, it's not a date."
"Husband?" Tommy repeated, then Joel shook his head, growing flustered.
"Fiancé. Not husband."
"When did he pass?"
Joel thought back to what you told him the night you first met. "A year ago."
Tommy hummed and looked out the window, tapping his fingers against the car door in rhythm with the beat from the radio. Joel side eyed him while they sat in silence for a few minutes before he rolled his eyes and sighed. "What?" Joel asked with an edge to his voice.
"A year's a long time, is all."
"She's in grief therapy, Tommy. She's in pain and tryin' to come to terms with it. Quit makin' it sound like somethin' it ain't."
"Just 'cause she's in grief therapy don't mean she ain't ready to move on-"
"Goddamnit, this is the last time I tell you anythin'," Joel grumbled as he made a left hand turn. Tommy hid a smile behind his hand and looked out the window.
"Alright, no need to get all defensive on me now."
Joel opened his mouth to argue but quickly snapped it shut. The more he pushed back just gave Tommy more ammunition. Besides, he knew the truth. You were looking for a friend, someone who could relate to what you were going through. There was absolutely no way you were interested in a man twenty years older than you. The thought was so absurd it almost made him laugh. You were young and beautiful and charming and you had your whole life ahead of you.
No, surely Tommy was wrong.
When Joel pulled up to your house, his eight year old truck the noisiest thing on the whole block, he let out a low whistle and threw it into park, deciding at the last second to keep his car on the street for fear of leaving an oil stain or something on your pristine concrete driveway. He sat in his truck for a moment, taking in the monumental Victorian house before him. He recognized it from his youth, but back then the siding was chipped and the windows were foggy, in desperate need of replacing. He always admired houses like yours and part of his heart broke whenever he saw one fall into such a state of disrepair that it was beyond saving, but not yours. No, at some point in the past ten years, the house was upgraded but managed to maintain the original charm.
There was fresh siding and new windows installed, the insides framed in what looked like delicate lace curtains, complimenting the style of the house. The roof looked like it had been replaced and the front door looked new, but the original architecture remained. He could easily tell whoever bought the house took great care with it, and the contractor in him breathed a sigh of relief that it didn't fall into the wrong hands, or god forbid, a flipper.
When he walked up your driveway towards the small stone path that led to your front door, he slowed to look at the garden that flourished in front of the wraparound porch. It was a beautiful mix of wildflowers and hedges, and while wildflowers had a tendency to look messy and unkept, you somehow managed to make it look neat and well put together. Fat, fuzzy bumblebees bounced drunkenly from flower to flower and as he climbed the wooden steps, a hummingbird buzzed past his ear, spooked by his presence.
He pressed the button to your doorbell, noting you chose not to install one of those camera doorbells and for some reason, that bothered him. Normally he wasn't a huge fan of technology, but you were all alone in this big house. You needed to be safe, to be careful. Your house was in a nice neighborhood, but that didn't necessarily mean anything.
The door swung open and you greeted him barefoot with a warm smile before stepping aside to let him in. You were wearing a loose tshirt that hung off one shoulder and he chastised himself when his eyes traveled down your tight fitting jeans to your ass as he followed you into your home.
He shrugged his reaction off to just typical male instinct and forced his focus onto the lovely foyer surrounding him as he slid off his boots. Polished cherry wainscoting lined the walls and his eyes widened when he noticed the small tiles in the shape of little octagons below his feet.
"Is this original?" he asked you in disbelief as he pointed to the ground. Your gaze followed his finger and you nodded.
"We tried to keep everything original, if we could," you explained.
"Wow," he breathed as he stepped forward into the hallway, his eyes unable to keep up with how fast his brain was operating. His gaze slid over the original hardwood floors of the hallway, fresh wallpaper, and wide, polished staircase with a plush carpet installed in the center of the steps. Much to his delight, you chose to furnish the house to match the style, as well. Antique fixtures hung from the ceiling and a real wood table was pushed against the wall. A small lamp sat on top with a stained glass Tiffany shade, and next to it was a pile of mail and a framed photograph he tried not to examine too closely out of respect.
"This way," you said over your shoulder, and he followed you blindly deeper into the house. You pushed open a swinging door that led into your kitchen, and for the first time since arriving, his nose was the first of his senses to respond instead of his eyes.
It smelled absolutely heavenly. He had no idea what you were cooking but his mouth instantly watered at the smell of garlic and salt and some kind of meat.
He swallowed and hoped his stomach wouldn't growl and embarrass him.
"Thought we were gonna order somethin'?" he asked as he watched you hurry over to the stove to stir something.
"Oh, I hope you don't mind, but I felt like cooking," you replied without looking. He glanced around the room, noticing you chose to update the counters and cabinets to look more modern, but kept the original flooring.
"Mind? Are you kiddin' me? Haven't had anythin' decent to eat since Sarah left for college."
Memories of fast food drive thrus and frozen dinners flashed before his eyes as he watched you turn off the burners on the stove. You opened a cupboard and stretched on your tiptoes to reach a bowl, the hem of your shirt riding up ever so slightly and revealing a small sliver of skin on your back and suddenly, his mouth was watering for an entirely different reason.
Stop it.
"Need some help?" he offered, and you fell back onto the flats of your feet, shooting him a nod and smile. He didn't mean to, but he reached up from behind you for the serving bowl, his front brushing gently against your back, and your shoulders tensed. Shit.
"Sorry, here ya go," he said, handing you the bowl and immediately giving you some space, not catching the glimmer of disappointment in your eyes.
"Thank you," you murmured shyly. He watched you spoon vegetables into the bowl for a moment, grabbing random jars of seasoning and sprinkling them on top before stirring it up, and he finally remembered his manners.
"Can I help?"
"No, no, I got it," you insisted, waving him toward a door on the other side of the kitchen. "Go sit down, I'll be right out."
He wandered over to the propped open door and entered your dining room. Pausing for a moment, he admired the chandelier above the table that looked old but the brass had been polished and the crystals cleaned. The drop ceiling was even remarkable: squares of textured patterns that repeated across the whole room, adding a whole other layer of elegance to the already impressive first floor. His eyes drifted to the dark wood table, where two spots were already set across from each other. He pulled out a chair and sat down, shifting his weight a bit and noting the chairs must have been recently reupholstered based on how firm the cushion was underneath him. You breezed in after him, hardly giving him enough time to take in the elaborate fireplace and mantle at the end of the room, and began to set down plates of food. His eyes bugged out of his head when he saw fresh, fried chicken and whipped mashed potatoes.
"You didn't have to go through all the trouble," he assured you, but you smirked at the way he stared at the chicken, the aroma from the breading overpowering his senses.
"It wasn't any trouble, I like to cook," you replied, disappearing into the kitchen to grab the vegetables and a basket of fresh rolls before finally joining him at the table.
Joel spread the cloth napkin over his lap, using every ounce of self control to stop himself from devouring everything in sight. He glanced up at you and you grinned.
"Go ahead, help yourself."
You watched with a small smile on your face as he loaded up his plate, then played with your own food until he took his first bite of chicken. He froze, his mouth full, and stared at you in awe before he dropped the chicken leg on his plate and leaned back, a deep, appreciative moan rumbling from his chest, making your thighs squeeze together under the table.
"Goddamn," he said once he swallowed. "That's the best fried chicken I've ever had in my entire life, darlin'."
You giggled and finally took a dainty bite of your own before nodding in agreement. "It's not bad."
Joel scoffed and took another bite. "Don't sell yourself short, now. I know what I'm talkin' 'bout. What'd you put in this?"
He listened, completely enraptured, as you explained how you soaked the chicken in buttermilk the day before and all of the seasonings you used in the breading.
"Oh! I almost forgot the lemonade," you said, standing back up and rushing into the kitchen, returning with two cold glasses and setting them down on the placemats. He nodded his thanks, mouth still full, and you giggled again.
You were already planning on packing up all the leftovers so he could take it home, but you still encouraged him to have as much as he wanted while it was warm and fresh.
"Did you make the rolls, too?" he asked after he took a bite.
You laughed and shook your head. "No, I'm not that good. I bought them this morning from a local bakery I like around the corner."
You had finished your meal long before he did, watching with your chin in your palm as he went back for seconds, reveling in the noises and compliments he made with practically each bite.
"Here, have some more," you told him, nudging the plate of chicken in his direction, but he leaned back in the chair and shook his head. "I can't, but everythin' was delicious. Thank you."
"You're welcome. I'm thrilled to cook for someone again," you replied with a sad smile before standing up and picking up your plate. He immediately stood and began to collect the rest, but you waved him back down.
"Sit, sit, I still have dessert," you told him, and based on the way he looked at you in that moment you would have put money down that he could be knocked over with a feather.
"Oh, darlin', you did too much," he replied, immediately flooding with guilt that he didn't even bring wine or flowers.
"Stop! I told you, I like doing it and I never get a chance to anymore, so please, sit down and I'll be right back."
Begrudgingly, he did as he was told and, while listening to you in the kitchen, peered out the back window at the meticulously kept grounds. Your house, like you, was absolutely beautiful. It felt like stumbling across an oasis in the middle of the desert.
You reappeared in the dining room with a bowl of diced, sugared strawberries and a plate of warm biscuits. He watched in stunned silence as you fixed him a plate, spooning the strawberries on top of a fresh shortcake, but told him to wait a moment before hurrying back into the kitchen and returning with a small bowl of homemade whipped cream.
Joel thought he died and went to heaven.
He could tell you didn't want to hear him complain that it was too much, so instead he lavished your baking with praise and thanks, both of which seemed to make your eyes shine bright and your lips remain curled into a smile the whole time.
"You're taking the leftovers home, too," you warned him once you finally allowed him to help bring things back into the kitchen. You were packing everything up nice and neat in matching Tupperware containers and stacking everything into a paper bag. As much as he wanted to decline, he really wanted your leftovers more, so he continued to thank you as he began to wash the dishes in your farmhouse sink. You had tried to fight him on it, but he finally wore you down and won. Stubborn little thing, he thought.
After dinner was cleaned up, you led him back down the hall and up the wide staircase, explaining that the books were all housed in a den at the top of the stairs, but when you opened the door to the room, den seemed like too small a word for it.
It was gorgeous, plain and simple. The cherry wainscoting continued in this room with a dark green wallpaper to accent the wood. All along the wall were antique sconces lighting up floor to ceiling bookcases stuffed full of literature. On the back wall was a large, heavy looking desk with a wingback velvet chair. The desk itself had books and papers scattered about, as if someone were in the middle of something and was rudely interrupted, but based on the layer of dust, he had to imagine nobody had sat there in some time.
And then it hit him: this was your fiancé's office.
A laptop sat open and turned off on the corner of the desk, along with a dusty printer behind the chair on the carpeted floor. He noticed what had to have been manuscripts of some kind based on the lack of coverings on the bound papers piling up next to the printer.
He was an author. This is where he worked.
That was when Joel realized you had been suspiciously quiet. He turned towards you, his eyes scanning your face, studying it. Your arms were wrapped around your middle as you stared blankly at the desk.
"We don't gotta do this today," he said softly, snapping you out of your reverie.
"No, it's okay," you replied, your voice so small it nearly broke his heart. You turned and walked toward the corner of the room, opposite the desk, where a small couch and coffee table sat. A few cardboard boxes were stacked nearby, two of which remained unopened, one recklessly torn into. You started with that one.
"Here," you said, pulling out a few books and handing them out. He stepped forward and took them, looking down at the covers and the beautiful artwork that adorned them. "These are the first trilogy, you should probably read them first before the next. They're different stories but they inevitably weave together so it'll make more sense if you-" you paused, your voice getting caught in your throat, and that's when he realized you had been fighting back tears.
"Hey, it's okay," he told you gently, putting the books down on the coffee table and carefully touching your shoulder, urging you to sit on the couch. After a moment's hesitation, you did, and he sat beside you. "This was too fast. I'll leave these here and maybe one day, when you're feelin' up to it, we can try again."
You looked up at him, eyes watering, and shook your head.
"No, take these now. I have more, I have tons, actually," you said, nodding towards the unopened boxes. "I just haven't come in here since he died and I didn't think it would be this hard." You wiped furiously at your cheeks, trying to hide your anguish.
Joel's heart thundered in his chest. He rubbed your back, trying to offer you a glimmer of comfort while he glanced around the room. "Maybe it was too soon," he offered again.
"No, it's been a year, Joel. I needed to do this." You took a deep breath and gave him a shaky smile. "Thank you. I know this is probably more than you expected-"
"Nah, hey, none of that, now," he cooed, mindlessly petting your hair. "If you needed someone to be here for this, I'm glad you picked me, okay?"
You sniffled and nodded, quietly thanking him again before taking another deep breath and exhaling with a nervous laugh as you looked around the room with him.
"Can I ask you something?"
"'Course," he replied.
"How long did it take for you to move on after your wife passed?"
He chewed the inside of his cheek as he thought about it, his fingers still playing with the ends of your soft hair as he slowly rubbed your back. "Well, hard to say. She was sick for a long time so I think I had time to come to terms with it before she died, y'know?" You nodded and listened to him, hanging on his every word and inadvertently leaning into his gentle touch. "Then I had Sarah to worry 'bout and, I don't know, time just... passed me by." He chuckled dryly for a moment before continuing. "My brother thinks I never got over it, Sarah thinks I never processed it, but they only think that 'cause I never dated anyone else."
Your eyes widened in surprise at his confession.
"Never?"
He shook his head and gave you a lopsided grin. "Been busy, I guess."
"But aren't you... lonely?"
He sucked in a sharp breath and cast his gaze to the floor. How did you manage to see right through him so quickly? Was it the common ground or something else?
"Wasn't too bad til Sarah left," he admitted, "but now... yeah. Yeah, it's lonely."
You scanned his face, watching the flicker of sadness in his eyes he tried to hide from you, and you inched a bit closer.
"I'm glad we found each other, Joel," you whispered. His eyes found yours again and he smiled.
"Me, too, sweetheart."
Then, without giving it another thought, you leaned forward and pressed a kiss against his lips. It was so tender and soft it felt like he was on the bus in fifth grade and Christine Murphy was giving him his fist kiss all over again while kids in nearby seats teased them with sing-song voices.
You pulled back and looked into his eyes, searching for any hesitation but all you must have seen was confusion because you leaned forward again, kissing him with a little more emotion, your small hand coming up to cup his greying, prickly jaw. You tasted like strawberries and lemonade and you smelled like vanilla and it was making every neuron in his brain fire all at the same time, to the point where his body had no idea what to do but remain frozen.
It was when your tongue first slipped past your lips and flicked nervously over the seam of his mouth that he finally came crashing down to earth. He sat back, breaking the kiss and holding you by the shoulders, staring deeply into your eyes. You were both panting slightly, probably from the excitement and adrenaline, as he tried to figure out what to say, what to do. You were in a fragile state, he decided. You made a mistake, the moment got away from you both and it didn't mean anything. It couldn't mean anything. You were too young and sweet and beautiful. You didn't really want anything to do with an old man like him. He just happened to be there when you were vulnerable and that was all.
The words never came. He couldn't form a coherent sentence. As the seconds dragged on, your face began to fall and embarrassment flooded your chest, the atmosphere in the room suddenly so thick that it was difficult to breathe. You cleared your throat and leaned back, his hands falling from your shoulders, and then you were the first to speak.
"Oh, no."

Share - Ollie Bearman
Words: 1,155 Summary: Ollie just wants to cling to his girlfriend after being away from her for weeks. Their nephew has a different idea. Note(s): Slightly NSFW, Clingy Ollie, Set After Jeddah 2025 (ik ik), oh and this is inspired by the vids of guys coming home and wanting to kiss their wife only for their son to be like, no, thatâs my mom!
Masterlist | Support Me!
Ollie lets out a sigh of relief as he closes the door to the apartment behind him.
He was finally home.
He knew he was going to be exhausted after his first ever triple header as a Formula 1 driver but then as if everything in 2024 hadnât been enough, more surprises and drama had cropped up just one race in and left him nearly scrambling for the final two.
But now he was home and would get to see his girlfriend after the last few grueling weeks.
âOllie?â
He smiles, âYeah, itâs me!â
Toeing off his shoes, he kicks them out of the way and steps out of the small entryway into the living room and the breath gets knocked out of him.
God, she was gorgeous.
He nearly runs to her, throwing himself onto the couch beside her and wrapping his arms around her.
âI missed you so much.â He mumbles.
Her fingers comb through his hair, âI missed you to bear.â
He pulls away a bit, lips already puckering up a bit when tiny hands are smacking against his side. He jerks away and then a small body is wiggling between him and his girlfriend, legs kicking at him.
âMine!â
âNoel!â
Ollie looks at the toddler in between them, surprised to see a glare on the normally happy three year old's face.
âHey buddy.â
He waits for the angry face to turn happy, for the exclamation of âUncle Ollieâ but it doesnât happen. Noel turns completely away from him, wrapping himself around her.
âWhat did I do?â
She gives him a sorry look, reaching out to hold his hand where conveniently Noel canât see. âHeâs decided that no one is allowed to touch me. He nearly screamed Joeâs ear off yesterday when Joe tried to hug me goodbye.â
âOof. Howâs Hil feeling about that?â
She rolls her eyes at the mention of Noelâs mom. âShe thinks it's great, which is why Iâve had him every day for the past week.â Seeing Ollieâs look, she nods. âYeah, Joe isnât happy about it. But they leave today and Joe is off for three days, so I will be off.â
âSo, Iâve got to share until bedtime?â
âNo share!â Noel chimes in and itâs cute, Ollie even gets it. He loves hugging his girlfriend, everyone and their mother calls him clingy, but he canât help but already feel tired of it and itâs barely been ten minutes.
He can share, he has shared his girlfriend's attention and affection, but he canât help but just want her full focus after three and a half weeks away. He hasnât even gotten a kiss yet and the thought makes him frown.
âNo cause papa is gonna be here early. I think I remember something about going out to eat and the park.â
Itâs funny to watch the way Noel seems both excited about it but also displeased, already knowing that his favorite and only aunt wonât be coming with.
âHey, Noel.â His voice is gentle and he pokes at his shoulder. âCould I get a hug from my favorite kid?â
He fully expects Noel to refuse with the way heâs managed to wiggle himself onto Y/Nâs lap, but he slowly moves off her lap and hugs him.
âHi buddy.â Ollie says, hugging him tight. âYou been having a fun time with Auntie?â
âMine.â
âI donât get to know what you guys have been up to? Have you played race car?â
Noelâs eyes light up and he shakes his head. âNo! I want to play!â
Ollie grins, easily standing up and picking him up. His neck aches a bit, but he ignores it as he puts Noel on his shoulders and begins to pace around the living room in laps.
Giggles fill the room and he canât help but smile, occasionally spinning or making a weird turn that makes Noel claps his hands together before asking him to go faster.
Itâs only when he starts to get dizzy that Ollie stops, moving him off his shoulders and holding him upside down.
âI hope he hasnât been like that long.â
âPapa!â Noel shouts and Ollie quickly rights him and puts him in Joeâs arms.
âOnly for a few minutes.â Ollie jokes.
Joe shakes his head with a laugh. âWell, as long as it was only a few minutes.â He looks over at Y/N. âHow was he?â
âGood, like always. Still clingy though. He told Ollie that I was his.â
Joe has to stifle a laugh, well aware that Ollie had probably hated that.
âI got to hug her for I think five seconds.â
âBetter than me, I got to for maybe a second yesterday before nearly losing an eardrum.â
Ollie sucks in a breath through his teeth. âTough luck, mate.â
âVery. Alright, bud say goodbye to Uncle Ollie and Aunt Y/N.â
Noel pouts a little and extends his arms out towards Y/N who is now standing.
âGoodbye Auntie.â
She hugs him, pressing a kiss to his cheek. âBye Noel. Iâll see you in a few weeks.â
âBye buddy.â
âBye, Uncle Ollie.â
As soon as the door shuts, Ollie whirls around and is tugging her close, their lips pressing together.
Itâs a frantic kiss, desperate, and Ollie canât help the way his hands slip under her shirt, pressing her closer as his fingers dig into her bare skin.
It doesnât stay a kiss for long. Clothes fall onto the floor and they barely manage to make it to the bedroom, the bed only a few steps away, but they end up on the floor, bodies pressed as close as they can get.
âFuck, Ollie.â She breathes later, laying on top of him.
He lets out a breathless laugh, kissing her sweaty brow. âI told you I missed you.â
âYou fucked me twice. Thereâs missing me and then thereâs that.â
âIs it bad I want to go again after dinner?â
âIf you donât go again after dinner, you're sleeping on the couch.â
He grins, pressing another kiss to her skin. âFantastic.â
His fingers trace shapes along her back as they both slowly get their breath back, hearts slowing to a better beat.
âYâknow,â She breaks the silence after a few moments. âYouâre going to have to share me.â
âI do share you. I just did with Noel.â
She laughs, kissing his chest. âYes, and Iâm so proud of my clingy bear. But I mean, if we ever have kids and we have a boy. Heâll probably be just like you.â
Ollie feels his heart speed up at the idea of them having kids. He can see it in a few years after theyâve been married and are in a house. âJust like me?â
âYeah, loves me to bits and never wants to be away from me. Your smile, hair, love for racing. Just a mini Ollie.â
âI guess if itâs our kids, I can learn to share you.â

Practice makes perfect | Leah Williamson x Reader
Where you and Leah practised kissing each other to prepare for kissing boys, but you quickly realise that after that you don't want to kiss anyone but her
Woso masterlist | Words: 2.5k
-----
As the only two girls on the boys' team growing up, you and Leah clicked right away. Football brought you together, but it was everything else about her that kept you close. Not many people had stuck around in your life the way Leah had. From meeting at six years old to now, a decade later, she was still your best friend.
The football dream was becoming reality for the both of you. The young Lionesses and Arsenal Academy were where you spend most of your time besides school or each otherâs houses. The two of you were inseparable and everyone knew it. Where you went Leah went, and visa versa.
âRemember when we were like twelve and we practised kissing?â Leah asks you out of nowhere while youâre sitting in her bed and playing video games. You think back to the moment.
It was a similar situation to this one, you were having a sleepover and had just finished watching a romcom. âHow do you know if youâre gonna be a good kisser if youâve never kissed someone before?â Leah asked with a voice filled with curiosity.Â
âI have no clue. Why donât they show those parts in the movies?â You turned off the tv and pulled the covers further over your body. âExactly! Like when I kiss a guy for the first time, I want to make sure that like I can kiss him properly, you know?âÂ
You nodded, understanding her concerns. âWhat if we practised kissing together? Then we can tell each other if weâre any good.â Leah loved your idea and instantly sat up in bed again. âYou are brilliant!âÂ
She made you sit up as well and once you did she double checked if it was okay. When you nodded in confirmation, she leaned in and pecked your lips. âHow did I do?â She instantly asked. âGood I think, what about me?â She smiled proudly, âNice, you as well.âÂ
You had practised a couple more times that night, and when you both liked boys, you had practised some more so that the first kisses you would have with them would be perfect.
âYeah, I remember.â In the meantime Leah had paused the game to fully focus on the conversation she wanted to have. âI was wondering if maybe we could practise something again.â
âWhat do you want to practise?â You asked to urge her to go on. âWell, I heard from some girls in our class that theyâve been making out with their boyfriends, and they talked about how it goes and everything, but even with that information I donât feel even remotely ready to just make out with a guy. So, I thought that maybe, if youâre up for it of course, we could practise like we did before?â
Even with the introduction Leah gave, her question still caught you off guard. Leahâs hopeful eyes were hard to ignore while you thought about her question. âJust so we donât totally embarrass ourselves when the time comes.â
"Yeah, exactly! I donât want to make things weird between us though, you can totally say no.â She quickly added. âItâs not weird.â you said shifting to sitting cross-legged, facing Leah, on her bed. âWeâre just practising.â
Leahâs face lit up with relief, âExactly, Just practising.â She turned to sit cross-legged as well. She told you how your classmates had described making out, so you were both on the same page.Â
âSo, eh,â you cleared your throat, âdo we just go for it?â Leah let out a nervous laugh, âI guess so?â You nodded, which Leah took as her sign to start leaning in. She inched closer slowly, until her lips brushed yours.Â
At first she just pecked your lips like you had practised before. Your heart started beating faster, but you didnât understand why. Her soft, warm lips on yours felt familiar, yet somehow different. âStill okay?â She asked to make sure you wanted to do this as well. âYeah.â
You leaned in this time and let your lips move in sync with hers. Your heart thudded loudly in your chest as Leah reached out her hand and cupped your cheek to pull you a little closer.Â
When she pulled back after a few moments, her eyes searched yours. âHow was that?âÂ
Your brain felt like it was running a million miles an hour, and you were scrambling to find words. âGood.â You managed finally. âWhat about me?â Leahâs lips quirked into that proud smile she had done last time, âGood too.âÂ
A feeling came over you that you had never felt before, you couldnât quite place it, but before you could overthink it, Leah was leaning in again. âPractice makes perfect, right?â she said softly, and when you didnât move away, her lips were on yours again.
That night while Leah slept soundly besides you, your mind wouldnât stop racing. Trying to make sense of what you were feeling.Â
It wasnât until a few weeks later when you saw Leah kiss a boy in your class, that you realised what was happening. The moment you saw the two of them together, you felt a pang of jealousy. All you knew in that moment was that you werenât jealous of Leah in that moment, but you were jealous of him.Â
You turned on your heels and got away from the situation as quickly as possible. Of course, you headed straight over to the football field. The one place where everything felt right. You mustâve spent hours kicking a ball around until your parentâs called asking when youâd be home. âNo Leah tonight?â Your mom had asked when you walked in, seemingly without the blonde by your side. You hadnât even thought about it, but usually Leah would join you on Fridays. âEh, no not tonight.â You say quickly. âDo I have time for a quick shower?â Your mom nodded and you rushed to your room.Â
You checked your phone and sure enough you had a bunch of messages from Leah. The last one read I hope everything is alright. Couldnât find you at school so I headed home. Please text me back!
You didnât text Leah back that night, or the next morning. It wasnât that you were mad at her, of course you werenât, you didnât think you ever could be, but you just didnât know what to say. Every time you thought about her, you saw that boyâs lips on hers. Every time you saw it play back in your mind, it made your chest ache.
But Leah was Leah. Persistent, stubborn, and your best friend. So, it didnât take her long to just show up at your house unannounced.Â
âYouâve been avoiding me.â She stated from your doorframe, after your dad had let her in. She found you laying on the floor with one of your textbooks in front of you, trying to bury yourself into your homework. âWhatâs going on?âÂ
You glanced at her and then quickly focused back on your textbook. âNothing.â Leah shook her head and stepped inside, closing the door behind her. âLiar.â She sighed, âDid I do something wrong?â
âNo!â You said a little too quickly and defensive for Leah to believe it. She crossed her arms and leaned against your door, studying you like she was trying to solve a puzzle. âI just need some space.â You said softly, unable to meet her eye.
âSince when do we do space?â Her voice softened. She walked further into your room and sat down on the edge of your bed. âCome on, talk to me.â
You wanted to. You wanted to tell her everything. You always told Leah everything, but how could you tell her about your feelings? How could you tell her that you were jealous of a guy she kissed? Talk about the way your heart raced when you made eye contact with her?Â
âIâm fine, Lee.â You forced a smile, but it didnât quite reach your eyes and Leah could tell. You saw that she was fighting her inner monologue to press further, her lips parting like she was about to. Before she could say anything, your mother yelled upstairs, âLeah, honey, are you staying for dinner?â
Leah turned to you, âDo you want me to go?â You shake your head, âNo, itâs okay. You can stay.â She opened the door and told your mom she would love to before turning back to you. âIâm gonna help her with dinner, you know, so you can have some more space.â This time you noticed her smile not fully reaching her eyes, but before you could say anything, she had already closed the door behind herself.
You stopped ignoring Leah, because you knew she would just find a way in, but that didnât mean that your interactions were any less awkward, well at least for you. From Leahâs side it seemed like nothing had happened, while you questioned every interaction you had with her.
When she laughed at your jokes, or let her hand linger on your arm or leg, everything made your skin feel like it was on fire.
A few weeks later Leah was picking out her prom outfit with her mom. She had tried on a bunch of dresses, but none of them seemed to be what she was looking for. Today was the last chance of finding something, since prom was literally tonight. So, Amanda was determined to spend the whole morning driving from store to store until they found something.
It was the third store of the morning where Leahâs eyes fell on a baby blue suit, and she knew instantly that that was going to be the one. Her mom encouraged her to put it on, and the smile on her daughterâs face was exactly the reason why she had.
âThis is going to be the one!â Leah said as she admired the suit in the mirror. âItâs lovely Leah Cathrine.â Leah smiled big, âThank you.â After paying for the clothes, the pair headed back to the car.
âOh mom, I wanted to ask if you could drive y/n and me tonight.â Her momâs brow furrowed. âDarling of course I would, but I thought y/n wasnât going?â Leah looks at her mom as if she was crazy. âWhat makes you think that?â
âOh well, because thatâs what she said yesterday. She said she wasnât really feeling up to going.â Leah didnât understand, you hadnât told her anything. âBut she was so excited about it and had her outfit picked out like months ago already. Do you know why she isnât going?â
Amanda shakes her head, âI donât know.â Leah was quick to respond. âYou didnât push further?â Amanda chuckles lightly, âNo, thatâs more your thing, darling.â
Leah sat back in the seat and crossed her arm, going over what she could do. âCan you drive me to her place tonight?â She nodded, âSure, darling.â
You were watching a movie in your sweats when you heard a knock on the door. When you opened the door, Leah stood in front of you with a small bouquet of flowers. âWhat are you doing here? Arenât you supposed to be at prom?â
âI could ask you the same thing.â Leah shoots back instantly. âIâm not going Lee, you should still go though. Iâm sure your boyfriend would like you to be there.â
âBoyfriend?â Leah steps inside and closes the door behind her. âWhat are you talking about? I donât have a boyfriend.â You shrug your shoulders, âI saw you and Steve kiss, figured you two were together.â
âOh no definitely not.â Leah said defensively, âHe kissed me, and I told him that I wasnât interested.â You searched her eyes for anything to prove what she was saying wrong, but she seemed sincere. âOh.â
âSo, come to prom with me?â Leah said, holding out the bouquet to you. âSorry, Lee, I canât.â She retracted the flowers reluctantly. âWhy not?â
Her question hung in the air. Again you wanted to tell her, but you just couldnât. âI just canât, please drop it.â But Leah was Leah and there wasnât any scenario in which she would drop this. âI wonât drop it. Youâve been excited about your outfit, the music, the pictures. Youâve been talking about prom non-stop for months and now youâre here in sweats not going. Please just tell me whatâs going on. If I did something, let me in and let me fix it.â Her plea sounded desperate.
âYou didnât do anything wrong, and there is nothing you can fix.â You sighed in frustration, wishing she would just drop it. âDid someone else do something? Please just tell me whatâs going on.â
âFine, okay, Iâll tell you.â Leah focussed on you instantly, not having expected you to break so soon. âI canât go to prom with you because ever since we practised making out, all I can think about is wanting to kiss you again.âÂ
Your eyes were looking anywhere but Leah, not ready to see the way she would react to that confession. âPlease look at me.â She slowly reached up her hand to your cheek to turn your head to face her. You expected anger, disgust, or even hurt in her eyes, but instead you were met with softness.Â
âYou know the reason I told Steve I wasnât interested?â You shook your head. âItâs because after he kissed me, I felt nothing. Which was a stark opposite to how I felt when we kissed. I swear it was just practise when I asked you, but I think that was exactly what I needed to realise my feelings for you.â Leah confessed.Â
You stare at her for a moment, taking in the confession. She liked you the same way that you liked her? The corners of your lips slowly rose as it was all coming together in your head. And then without hesitation, you lean in and kiss her for real this time. She kissed you back instantly, and pulled you closer like she had done last time. It felt even better than your time practising, now knowing your feelings for each other.
When Leah pulled away, she leaned her forehead against yours. âSo, prom?â Your smile grew. âYes, just let me get changed.âÂ
You rushed to your room and quickly got ready. âWow, you look amazing!â Leah said as you walked back downstairs. âSo do you!â You pecked her lips appreciatively. She took your hand and pulled you out the door where her mom was still waiting in the driveway. âReady to go to prom, girls?â She knew by your happy faces that whatever was going on between the two of you these past weeks, was resolved. âYeah, more than ready.â You said and Leah squeezed your hand. âYeah, letâs go.â

the sirius watermelon fic was SO CUTE I NEED A PART TWO OF THEM GETTING TOGETHER
watermelon pyjamas pt.2
sirius finally tells you how he feels. (the classic angry confession trope) part 1
words: 1.7k
genre: literally idiotsâą to lovers, roommate!sirius, hurt/comfort(?), confession, lil angst, ends with fluff.
a/n: guys this is like my first ask. eeeek! thanks for requesting and reading<3
.....
âIâm an idiotâ
âYou're gonna have to elaborate."
âJames, please."
Sirius wasn't sure if he would classify this as a bad day. Realising he's in love with you wasn't the worst thing that could happen to him, but hearing James gloat about how right he had been was.
He had managed to avoid you that evening, even the next day, internally panicking over what to do. But he was home in the evening, ignoring that stupid warm feeling in his chest when he saw your shoes in front of the door.
He entered the room, and sighed.
I'm fucked.
âDid you buy fruit themed pyjamas?" Sirius asked, his eyes moving over the cherry printed clothing. He was annoyed, not at you, mostly at himself. He couldn't find a single explanation why this affected him so much, but it did.
âI have watermelon, cherry, kiwi and peach.â You counted on your fingers.
âWear the peach one tomorrow." Sirius grimaced at his too quick of a response, thankfully his face wasn't visible. He wasn't very proud of himself right now.
"I meant like- as a suggestion, that sounds cute, you know." He tries to explain himself, cringing on his own words.
Your eyebrows raise in surprise, amused by his eagerness, âDo you want these? You seem to like them a lot." You asked cheekily.
Yeah, sure. That's exactly why I want you to wear these, Sirius though internally. His thoughts had involved you in his bed with the pants on, maybe off, but he kept that shamefully to himself.
The next couple of days felt torturous. Sirius felt like he had to physically restrain himself from reaching for you. Anytime you touch his shoulder, lean against him, huddle together on the couch, he overthought everything.
Every touch left him breathless, every look made it hard to breath. I need help.
.
You were distraught. For some reason, for the last few days, Sirius was acting weird. He had started pulling away from you, as if watching you from a distance. No ruffling your hair, no forehead kisses, no comfortable touches. It's not as if he owed you any affection, but he had stopped.
He knew.
He knew you had feelings for him. Even if he doesn't, which you desperately hope is the truth, he has a problem. You didn't know what to do. Everytime you thought to ask him something, he'd make up an excuse and leave. He definitely didn't want to talk to you.
Lily had suggested exactly as you predicted, the usual, you should talk to him, maybe he was just busy. And other times, she had been right, but not this time. All of this had led you to the inevitable decision, something you should have done long ago. Maybe if you had, this wouldn't have happened.
âŠâŠ
"I'm gonna move out, Lils.â You say into the phone,"What? Why?â Lily exclaimed, rather dramatically.
You sigh,"I can't live like this. He doesn't owe me anything. I shouldn't be expecting⊠things from him.â
There's a slight pause before you continue,"And I can't move on if I live with him. It's too painful, and too hard."
âHere's the real reason."
Lily felt like bashing her head against a wall. How can two people be so stupid at the same time? You two were perfect for each other, both too oblivious to see the obvious.
âListen, I really think you should just tell him, even if you move out. He wouldn't stop being your friend, honey."
You hum as she says, but part of you knows you can't say it. You don't have the guts. You hear the familiar click of the door, Sirius is home.
âLils, I've gotta go. I'll talk to you later." You hang up the phone, not listening to whatever she said at the end, too nervous to care.
Your hands are sweaty, and your hands are fidgeting constantly. Sirius comes in and can immediately sense your anxious energy,
âWhat happened, lovely?" He asks, his voice cooing as he moves over to you.
He's used to you busying yourself around the house, sometimes bobbing your head to music as you wash the dishes, or some other silly thing, he could go on.
âSirius, we need to talk." You say quickly, your words too rushed, dreading this conversation.
Sirius' heart feels like it's going to lurch out.
Oh no.
He thinks that you know, somehow. That he had⊠he'd stopped saying it at a point. The impossibility of it all was a painful reminder. Now you're going to confront him. He's fucked.
âOkayâŠâ He says, his voice too quiet now.
You rub your hands to pep yourself up, encouraging yourself to not lose track,
âI'm gonna move out."
The silence that takes over is one more overwhelming than any noise. Sirius is sure now, you definitely know. A dangerous dread spreads over his body, like a disease covering itself around him.
âIt's not because of you, it's because of me." Sirius has the urge to scoff at the cliched statement, but his body feels too stiff, his eyes stuck on you.
But Sirius needed closure. So, whatever your feelings were, Sirius needed to hear why you're leaving.
âWhy?" His voice is void of emotion. It breaks your heart.
A pitiful chuckle escaped you, âSirius, you've made it clear you don't want me here."
Don't confront him. This wasn't the plan.
It wasn't. It wasn't even the reason you were moving out. But he was still your friend, he had still hurt your feelings. You were still mad at him, even though you had no right to be.
âWhat the hell do you mean?" Sirius asks, incredulous. How could he ever not want you here?
âWe haven't talked properly in days. You answer me in singular words-"
Sirius cuts you off, feeling oddly defensive, even if what you were saying wasn't untrue,
âI've been busy-"
âOh you've been busy before, Sirius. You never did this," You wave him off, but meeting his eyes, you say, âIt's alright, I got the message, if you don't want me here-" Your voice rises despite your efforts as the conversation gets more heated,
"So what then? You're just gonna move out? Am I that terrible?â Sirius asks, sarcastically. Typical, you think. You pinch the bridge of your nose in frustration,
"Sirius, I told you, this isn't about you,â
Right now, he isn't keen on listening to your reasoning. In his mind, it's all his fault. It's his fault that you have to leave. He's scrambling for explanations,
"Look, I'm sorry that I'm in love with you, alright? I couldn't help myself. Hell,â He laughs, pity and amusement lacing his words, âI didn't even know until a few weeks ago.â
Sirius felt like his world was falling apart. His heart has dared to love someone, and it backfired. He doesn't regret that he loves you, he couldn't. He had no control over that, ever. He was always going to be in love with you.
He only regrets that you found out, somehow. But he supposed that was also inevitable, you weren't daft.
âThe point is,â His pleading eyes look at you, âItâs my problem to deal with, not yours.â His eyes are watching your face, you don't know what he might find, âPlease, don't leave.â
A few moments pass, and it's as if the world is coming back to you. And one sentence rings in your head, distinct from any other sentence he's said.
I'm sorry that I'm in love with you.
âYou what??â You ask, your voice full of incredulity. It feels like someone had hit you with a hammer, or pushed you off a cliff.
âI didn't want to be the guy who's your friend and then tells you he's in love with you, you know? I'm sorry that I love you, but you don't have to leave. If it matters, I will. You should stay here.â Sirius stammers out, his voice laced with pain and nervousness.
Your hands are wrapped under his, his hands clutching yours like they could stop you. They probably did stop you.
"You're in love with me?â You ask, your heart in your mouth, as if one word would be enough to tip you over.
âPlease don't make me say it again." Sirius pleads, his eyes slightly watery.
Your eyes flick back and forth to both of his, searching for any kind of hesitance on his face, but it's plain. He's said those words like they were casual, as if they didn't just break your brain. There's nothing to say, or there are no words coming to your brain which are enough to convey your emotions.
A smile spreads across your lips and you bite your lips to conceal it undoing your hands from his to cradle his face,
âYouâre in love with me.â
Sirius' pleading frown transforms to a confused one, and he nods, even if you hadn't asked it as a question this time.
You laugh, a watery laugh before you meet your lips to his, smiling too hard to kiss him properly.
Sirius feels like his body is on autopilot, his hands immediately cradling the back of your neck, his other one holding your wrist, his lips immediately responding to yours, as if it was all too natural.
In all his âforeseenâ outcomes, this hadn't been a possibility.
He smiles too, confusion still evident at the back of his mind, but he could only focus on the feeling of your lips on his, your hands holding his face.
His head tilts as he tries to get a better angle, desperate to know your tells and signs, his hand wrapping around your waist to pull you closer.
You smile again, breaking the kiss but his lips chase you which makes you laugh more, and he hides his face in your shoulder, laughing along with you.
âYou're in love with me," You say it quietly, as if you're confirming it to yourself, but he's too close by not to listen.
âAnd here I was, moving out because I wanted to get over you."
His head whips up, his face dumbstruck,
âWhat?"
âMhmm." You bite your lips, and Sirius has half a mind to kiss you again.
âYou're also inâŠ." He trails off, his expression confused but you know exactly what he's asking,
âSirius, I just kissed you."
âYeah, but what if you just took pity-" You shut him up again, and he melts, exactly as you intended, moulding his body to yours, trying to get as close as he can. If this was your way to shut him up, he could get used to it.
"Wait, so you're not moving out right? Because-" And his words are cut off again, the same way from before.
He smiles against your lips, again, ecstatic. Giddy, even. Sirius could get used to this. Sirius could get used to kissing you as he arrives home.
All this because of fucking watermelon pyjamas.

Deer in Headlights | Panic arrives at the office
Summary: Working as Sanzuâs secretary for a day wasn't so bad; he was rarely in his office, so you had to handle most of his paperwork and appointments. Where was he? Who knowsâŠ
Pairing: Bonten x F!Reader
Word count: 2.4k+
Content Warnings: Plot development, feelings with sprinkles of angst (eww), reverse harem, fluff, brief mention of violence and death. This is part of a series! Just adding that for new readers.
A.N: Finally freeing one of the old wips which I rewrote like five times because i couldnât remember what I was doing. Anyway! Enjoy more of this never-ending series of unfortunate events surrounding Doe and her harem. K bye đ
You asked Mikey if you could stay at their workplace longer since being at home was becoming duller and duller. He agreed, but as always when it comes to anything involving you, nothing happens in this household without a fight.
At first, Takeomi objected and would only allow this ridiculous idea if you were his assistant, then Kakucho added that he also needed help. But then backtracked. He remembered his position as an enforcer and didnât want you to see him like⊠thatâ so yeah, discarded.
Meanwhile, Kokonoi laughed in their faces. mentioning how he was the one who spent more time sitting down on his deskâ buried in paperworkâ and that's why you should be with him. The safest option, according to him.
Surprisingly, the infamous Bonten trio had been quiet the whole time. Ran, Rindou, and Sanzu seemed very uninterested in acquiring you for help. Such a reaction from your pack of hyperactive golden retrievers left you puzzled.
Your incertitude didnât last long. Later you found out that they didn't want you with them due to the nature of their jobs too, just like Kakucho earlier. The more gruesome parts of Bonten always fell on their shoulders as well.
Not soon after you heard Kokonoi explain their unusual silence, he also added a few extra details. Such details gave you the final push to decide who gets a new helping hand.
Kokonoi gave the longest speech youâve ever heard him say about Sanzu. The silver-haired individual went on and on about Sanzu never submitting reports on damage, expenses, casualties, and a whole bunch of other desk work.
Sanzu argued that it was utterly ridiculous and unnecessary since everything would be destroyed by the next day. Still, you watched them ping-pong about such⊠matters for a while.
That's the main reason why you decided to choose Sanzu. And that's what you are doing right now. Sitting outside the door to the pinknetteâs office in a new desk that Kokonoi insisted on arranging for you, even added a new desktop setup and all.
The whole morning was pretty calm. Kakucho came by and left some sweets for you, then Ran and Rindou took you out for lunch, and Mikey passed and snatched some of the sweets Kakucho gave you.
Everything seemed normal. it wasnât until a little after noontime when the scorching sun hit the blinds that a shadow fell over your desk. Looking up from your papers, there stood a tall manâa dangerous-looking man, you might add. A distinctive tattoo was peeking from the neck of his well-tailored suit, strikes of blue and white adorned his hair. The alarms in your head activated for the first time since you were with Bonten. Which meant that danger was imminent.
He greeted you, although his gaze was not on you but looking at his surroundings. Observing and analyzing.
âIâm here to see Bontenâs numbers two,â that was all he said, not sparing you a second glance.
Panic settled in your guts. Sanzu never told you about a scheduled meeting, nor that someone might be asking for him today. You felt that denying something to this individual was not a good answer and how you wished you had followed your instincts.
âIâm sorry, Sir, he's not here at the moment, but you can-â You were cut short when, out of nowhere, a hand hit on your desk, sending papers and pens flying everywhere.
âCall him, then,â now he did pay attention to you, yellow eyes scanning every inch of your features, âor not.â
he stepped closer to your desk, somehow, you felt he was about to break the wood and glass with his palm still there. He then proceeded to bend over, just a little, to have a closer look at you. And it was like recognition hit him and his eyes seemed to acquire a playful glint, âI donât think he would mind if his secretary keeps me company.â
You felt your breath hitch in your throat. You froze under his scrutinizing eyes. As still as you were, your fingers itched to bash the keyboard on his face. What was this slimy feeling covering you, overwhelming you? A sudden thought shot through your mind⊠you were no cheap whore.
Thatâs what you wanted to scream at him, at least. But you held backâ or more like, you were out of options. The fact that he was standing inside Bontenâs building unharmed and without an escort spoke volumes about the caliber of this individual.
Why was such a short interaction setting off all your distress signals? Why was your throat screaming for air even as you breathe? Cold fingertips and a racing heart were the least of your worries at the moment.
Damn, Sanzu and his unorganized schedule and his lack of communication and⊠you would have continued to mentally berate him if the previously mentioned individual hadnât stepped around your desk and offered you his hand.
âWhat do you say we take a walk?â As much of a question as it sounded like, your instinct told you that there was not really an option to decline.
âMy boss wouldnât like me leaving my positionâŠâ you articulated with gritted teeth. Against your best judgment, you tried to kindly refuse with an excuse involving Sanzu.
âIâm sure he would make an exception for me,â those were his last words before one of his hands steered you away from your just-acquired desk.
And thatâs how you were now walking away from your new desk and going to who knows where. Every step was a scream you swallowed. Again you wondered, what was your instinct detecting from him that your consciousness couldnât comprehend?
He mentioned his name was Taiju and that you should be careful working in such a precarious organization, such a feeble thing as yourself shouldnât be exposed to an all-male environment and he kept going on about it.
This⊠Taiju individual placed his hand on your lower back. Dangerously low. Too low for your liking. So much so that you even hurried your step to create some distance but it was futile.
As if they had heard your silent prayers, Rindou and Kokonoi arrived just in time to see your back being led away from your supposed workplace. Both men felt like cold buckets of water had been thrown at them, blood freezing as a picture they never imagined possible now rose in from of their very own eyes.
You heard your name being called, well, almost screamed. The big guy halted his steps and you followed soon after, both turning to the screaming duo at your backs.
âYou canât take her.â Rindou asserted with a very forced smile, hands already on their way to reach you and bolt if necessary.
âWhy is that?â The blue-haired individual inquired.
âBecause sheâsââ
âSheâs my girlfriend!â
Both Rindou and Kokonoi spoke at the same time respectively, the latter with more urgency than the other but the message was clear enough. You were not to be taken away just like that.
âOh? Congratulations! I never expected you to settle down, Hajime-kun. I thought you would be with Seiââ
âNonsense,â quickly replied the silver-haired man before moving beside you and hastily pulling you towards his body; avid fingers replaced the previous hand on your lower backâgripping your skin tightly.
âThen why is she with Pinky? Shouldnât you be taking better care of your women?â Taiju bellowed, eyes analyzing how his old acquaintance held you with so much affection and care. It was clear to anyone witnessing the two people in front of him, how Kokonoi was desperately but subtly in a hurry to erase any trace of Taijuâs touch from you.
âYeah, Koko, you should take better care of your woman,â Rindou added, internally biting his cheeks to stop himself from laughing at how unexpected of a reaction his colleague had. Forgotten was the panic no soon you were in his fellow memberâs arms. Now he decided to play along just for the laughs.
Meanwhile, you were face-pressed against a hard chest and an expensive button. You would have an imprint of Kokoâs button on your face, you thought as you silently groaned in frustration; but eternally grateful for their opportune interruption.
âI am,â Kokonoi sent death glares towards Rindou who seemed to forget where you had been a minute ago. He cursed his fellow memberâs fish brain. Sending a nod to his old acquaintance, Koko mumbled a hurried goodbye and disappeared with you in his arms.
The remaining two were left standing, watching silver locs wave like a cape.
âThatâs an⊠interesting character development, I must say.â
âHeâs pussy whipped,â the purple head commented, dismissively as he took Taiju toward his own office. Of course, the pot calling the kettle black. Well, Rindou talked from first-hand experience.
How does he tell you that he panicked? How does he tell you that you might not have been in danger, but his mind refused to understand? How does he explain his actions when they are not consistent with how he always treats you?
Kokonoi Hajime knows it doesnât make sense what he did or what heâs feeling. It had nothing to do with Taiju but everything to do with you.
He sat in silence with you on his lap, arms wrapped around you tightly as his mind circled over his latest silent outburst. Sanzuâs office wasnât the coziest place but it would have to work for now.
Air was something you certainly knew you needed in order to live. You hoped you didnât have to remind Koko of that fact as he kept tightening his grip as time passed.
Up and down, your eyes gazed over his side profile. The few details you could see from your perspectiveâface harshly compressed against himâseemed to suggest he was not here completely. The lost look he wore was new to you.
âKoko?â You mumbled curiosity and worry mixed together within you. After a while, the odd silence didnât quite sit well with you. âKoko?â You called out his name for a second time, squirming in his constricted grasp in an attempt to get his attention.
âHum?â He seemed lost as he hummed a response. Slowly blinking away whatever thoughts had captured him for the last several minutes.
You knew talking things with him was hard, you didnât wanna say the wrong things and make him lock you out. Thatâs why you had waited in place, letting him process whatever happened in the hall. It was so uncharacteristic of him to claim you in public or even touch you in front of others. You had expected Rindou to make a scene but never from Kokonoi.
After another prolonged silence, you went for the safest route. Asking for the only phrase that stuck with you. âSo Iâm your girlfriend?â
âOf course, you are, dummy,â he whispered with a dry chuckle; cradling your head against his chestânot once did his grip loosened. You felt words werenât needed at the moment, something told you just to be there for him.
Kokonoi wanted to reaffirm you were real, you were still there, you werenât a product of his mind⊠like his younger self used to imagine.
Maybe that was it? The image of you simply walking away; your back facing him tormented him now. He felt like his old self again, the one who lost so much and the little he was left with he kept it under a thousand locks. His mind and body remembered the devastating events and the pain⊠the pain of having something so dear to you again and how easy it was for life to take everything away in the blink of an eye.
Fear paralyzes. Thatâs when he realized he was afraid, but also⊠in love. Love doesnât make sense; itâs the only part of the equation he could never calculate accurately.
He was so in love, that he acted out of characterâvulnerable and raw. Only you had been able to bring that back out from the innumerable hard shells covering his heart.
âIâm not going anywhere.â You might not know that your words were just what he needed. Saying whatever was at the tip of your tongue has always been a talent of yours.
âThank you,â he said softly, unwavering. you both stayed intertwined in the coach until darkness fell.
Somewhere in Japan near an abandoned port.
âYou did this on purpose, did you not?â Mochi accused the pink-haired man after checking the message Rindou had sent to the group chat.
âDunno what you mean,â rebuked Sanzu.
ah, so feigning ignorance now, was it? Mochi sent him a questioning gaze. âSanzuâŠâ
âItâs a sign that she wasnât supposed to be there. Sheâs perfectly safe at our place and I donât need help with paperwork.â He nonchalantly told Mochi. âHey! Roll out the tarp! I donât want any mess here!â Sanzu bellowed at the henchmen around him.
âNah, I agree. You knew.â Ran taunted him, walking toward the now laid-out tarp. âYou knew at what time Koko was going to check on her with Rindou and Taiju just magically went straight to your office with no problem? Ha, right.â
Kakucho heard the conversation and nodded in agreement with Ran. Bontenâs enforcer would have engaged in the accusation party but three cold bodies rested at his feet and nobody else seemed to have his mind on the job at the moment. He barked orders to the footmen who were taking too long to move the deceased.
âNo, it was Takeomi.â
Every Bonten member perked up at the information their leader was providing them with. Takeomi froze in place as four pairs of eyes focused on him. Mikey on the other hand, sat a top of a wooden pallet tower; munching carelessly on some snacks.
âWell, now it makes sense. It was too much of a good plan to be yours.â Ran commented out loud with a laugh.
âExcuse me? I was part of the plan!â Argued Sanzu like a hissing kitten.
âDidnât you just say you didnât know?â
Sanzu looked at Mochi with exasperation as the sound of something heavy hitting the plastic tarp resonated in the background.
âYou approved, though,â mentioned Takeomi who was standing close to Mikey.
âSometimes itâs better to let a bird clash against the glass. It learns that sometimes no matter how clear the path looks, you canât always fly at your heartâs content.â Mikey said as he dusted off the remaining pieces of crackers from his dark shirt. âAnd eventually⊠it wonât fly in that direction ever again.â
âAnd Koko?â Mused Kakucho joined the two men conversing.
âHe needed a push in the right direction. Heâs as hardheaded as always.â Chuckled Takeomi before tasking a drag of his cigarette.

ââ .⊠QUIET DEVOTION
â PAIRING : Megumi Fushiguro x Black!femreader
â SYNOPSIS : After a long day, Megumi waits for someone important to return from a mission. As exhaustion meets quiet affection, the night unfolds with unspoken care and fleeting vulnerability.
â CW : fluff!, slight hurt/comfort tones, Mentions of fatigue.
â SIA HERE ! : Was bored so I wrote this Lol, I have nothing else to say đ
The dorm room was dimly lit, the soft glow of a desk lamp casting long shadows over the walls. Megumi sat at his desk, his eyes skimming over a book, though he wasnât really reading. His attention kept drifting to his phone, which heâd placed face-up on the table so he wouldnât miss any notifications.
âIâll come over after my mission, promise. It shouldnât be too long.â
He had read that text at least twenty times now.
That was hours ago. He wasnât worried about your safetyâhe knew you could handle yourself. It was more that a certain quiet anticipation had been eating at him all day. Heâd never admit it outright, but he had wanted to see you the moment the morning started. He even debated texting you to come over earlier, but he settled for waiting. Megumi was used to waiting.
When the soft knock finally came at the door, Megumi was quick to his feet. He opened it to find you standing there, looking utterly exhausted, but still managing to give him a tired smile.
âHey,â you greeted softly, stepping inside.
âYouâre late,â he said bluntly, though his tone lacked any real bite.
âYeah, well, missions donât exactly run on a schedule,â you shot back with a yawn, dropping your bag by the door and trudging toward his sofa. âMiss me?â
He rolled his eyes. âYou look half-dead.â
âAnd yet, Iâm still here,â you quipped, settling onto the sofa and stretching your legs out. âYouâve been waiting for me all day, havenât you?â
âI wasnât waiting.â
âSure you werenât,â you teased, smirking as you caught the faintest flicker of annoyance in his expression. âAnyway, Iâm here now. So, whatâs the plan?â
âThe plan,â he said, closing his book and standing, âwas for you to get some rest, but clearly, youâre too stubborn for that.â
You shook your head, forcing your heavy eyelids open. âNo way. I didnât come all the way here just to sleep. Weâre spending time together.â
âYou can barely keep your eyes open.â He shook his head and sat down at his desk again, watching as you tried to sit up straight, clearly fighting your fatigue. âI told you to take it easy if the mission ran late.â
âIâm fine.â You sat up straighter, as if to prove your point, but the movement only made you sway slightly before you caught yourself. âSee? Totally fine.â
Megumi sighed, crossing his arms as he leaned against the desk. âYouâre going to pass out in the next five minutes.â
âI am not,â you insisted, though your voice wavered with exhaustion.
He arched an eyebrow. âRight. Because falling asleep mid-sentence would really make for quality time.â
âMegumi,â you groaned, rubbing at your face to stay awake. âIâm serious. I really wanted to see you today.â
His gaze softened, but his expression remained impassive. âYouâre seeing me now. That doesnât mean you have to push yourself.â
âI said Iâd come over, and I meant it,â you said, your voice quieter now, as if the last of your energy was draining away. âI just⊠I missed you, okay?â
His arms uncrossed, his fingers twitching slightly as if he wasnât sure what to do with them. ââŠI missed you, too.â
You blinked at him, surprised by his honesty, and your lips curved into a sleepy smile. âSee? Thatâs why Iâm staying up. Who knows when Iâll get another confession like that out of you?â
He scoffed, walking over to the sofa and crouching down beside it. âIf you think this counts as a âconfession,â youâre more delirious than I thought.â
âIâm not delirious,â you murmured, though your voice was muffled now as your head lolled to the side. âmâ just⊠happy to be here.â
âSure you are.â
âMhm,â you hummed, your eyes fluttering shut despite your best efforts to keep them open.
It wasnât long before your head fell to the side, your breathing evening out. A faint snore escaped your lips, accompanied by a small trail of drool, your body finally giving in to exhaustion.
Megumi sighed quietly and stood, walking over to crouch beside the sofa. His dark eyes softened as he studied your face, taking in the way your features relaxed in sleep.
âYouâre impossible,â he muttered.
Megumi stayed crouched beside the sofa, his forearms resting on his knees as his eyes roamed over your sleeping face. Your features were soft in the dim light, peaceful in a way he rarely got to see. His gaze lingered on the curve of your cheek, the way your lips parted slightly as you breathed, the faint smudge of drool that had collected at the corner of your mouth. He reached out and carefully wiped the drool from the corner of your mouth, his fingers brushing lightly against your skin.
His eyes followed the strands of hair that had fallen over your forehead, Then, with the same cautious touch, he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear, his hand lingering for a moment. His fingertips brushed against your temple. The movement was slow, almost reverent, as if he feared waking you.
Megumiâs expression softened further as his gaze traced the small details of your faceâthe faint shadows beneath your eyes from exhaustion, the way your lashes fanned out against your cheeks, the subtle twitch of your lips as you murmured something incoherent in your sleep.
He exhaled quietly, leaning in just enough to notice how your breaths fell in time with his. His dark eyes searched your face as though trying to commit every detail to memory: the slope of your nose, the delicate curve of your jawline, the way your expression remained so utterly serene, even when your day had clearly drained you.
In that moment, Megumi felt something deep and unspoken settle in his chestâa quiet kind of gratitude that you were there, safe and close, even if you had worn yourself out trying to keep your promise to him.
The door suddenly creaked open, and Gojoâs unmistakable voice filled the room. âHey, Megumi, I saw y/n walk in here. I was just wonderingââ
Megumiâs glare was instant and cutting. He raised a finger to his lips in a silent demand for quiet, his expression making it very clear he was not interested in waking you up.
Gojoâs eyes flicked to you on the sofa and back to Megumi, a knowing grin spreading across his face. âOhhh, I see how it is. Iâll justââ
âQuiet.â
âGot it.â Gojo backed out of the room, shutting the door with exaggerated care.
Once the room was quiet again, Megumi sighed and slipped one arm beneath your knees and the other under your back, lifting you effortlessly. You stirred slightly, your head resting against his chest as he carried you to his bed.
âMegumiâŠâ you mumbled, your voice barely audible.
âShh,â he said softly, laying you down and pulling the blanket over you.
He slid in beside you, careful not to jostle you too much. For a moment, he simply lay there, watching your face in the dim light. Then, leaning down, he pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
âI love you,â he whispered, so quietly he wasnât even sure if heâd said it aloud.
You stirred again, a soft laugh escaping your lips. âI heard that.â
Megumi stiffened. âGo to sleep.â
âYou said it first,â you teased, turning to face him with a sleepy smile.
âFine,â he muttered, his voice laced with exasperation but not a hint of regret. âI said it first. I love you. Now go back to sleep.â
âI love you, too,â you murmured, closing your eyes and nestling closer to him.
Megumi sighed, a faint smile tugging at his lips as he closed his eyes. âGood. Now shut up and go back to sleep.â
The irony wasnât lost on him. For someone who carried himself with such practiced indifference, who rarely expressed his feelings in words, he had just uttered the most vulnerable confession without hesitation. He huffed quietly, half-annoyed at himself and half-amused by how natural it felt with you. Maybe thatâs what frustrated him mostâyou had a way of undoing all the walls he worked so hard to keep up.

â hanji
ây/nâŠâ han would say and youâd look at him with doe eyes as you always do that makes him melt. âyes baby?â you say, looking up from your phone. âumâŠâ
he would run his hand up your thigh whilst you wait patiently for him to speak. his eyes would be flitting between you and his hand SO nervously. (itâs so cute!)
âi think im uhh.. iâm.. readyâ he would say so hesitantly whilst refusing to even look at you from embarrassment. your eyes would actually light up from anticipation, questioning yourself if you even heard him correctly. the silence in the air whist you process what he just said would have him dying inside from embarrassment.
âreally hannie? are your sure?â you try your best not to sound elated just in case he felt pressured but omg how youâve been waiting for him to say that.
the way he would look into your eyes looking so nervous as you smile back at him trying to make him feel more at ease is so adorable!! âi think so. iâve been thinking about you a lot.. like.. sexuallyâ he would say and youâd chuckle adoringly at him âyeah i gathered that babyâ
he would lowkey be so scared to touch all over your body but hearing your blissful moans encourages him to do so. (imagine his hands all over you OMG) soon heâs kissing up and down your thighs getting closer and closer to your pussy and your breath would be jagged which he smirks at.
âcan i baby?â âPLEASE hannie please!â you. have. been. waiting. for. this. moment. your eyes would roll back into your head when you feel his tongue lick a strip up your cunt, shockwaves being sent to your clit omfggg. you would come so fucking hard and han is absolutely amazed at the sight.
âdo you wanna.. no pressure!â you would assure him that you were MORE than happy to do whatever heâs comfortable with as it is his first time. lots and lots of whines from hanji like omfg he wonât be quiet (and we love that for us!)
he would try so so hard not to come too fast for you but oh how euphoric you feel he just canât help it. the way you would both cuddle after you come back down is absolutely adorable omg you are both so cute AHH
(sorry for the ramble, the manâs my bias i canât stop thinking about lovely, cute, nervous hannie)
â felix
felix is definitely the type to get a boner when youâre both play fighting in the living room during the adverts of the series youâre both watching. (sns) but how youâd usually both just laugh it off, this time heâs like âyou can.. touch it if you want..â and youâd be so taken aback.
of course you want to JUMP at the opportunity but youâre still cautious. âare you sure lix? i donât wanna rush anyth-â âim ready y/nâ he would say and the look in his eyes of nervousness and desperation warm your heart. you wanna give your all to him.
slowly you would slide your hand under the band of his sweatpants, gently running your finger under the length of his cock and the slight stimulation has he whimpering. heâs NEVER felt any sensation like this before and heâs literally ascending. youâd run kisses all over his neck, only adding to the pleasure he would be feeling omg. (he is so desperate for you rn)
youâd look into his eyes for approval before removing his sweats and boxers and holy- he looks gorgeous! (iâm actually dead) heâd be shivering in anticipation. âplease y/n i need you babyâ and you would be more than happy to oblige. sooo slowly you would start riding him and his mouth would drop open letting out strings of moans and groans ahh.
youâd lean down to plant kisses all over his neck and cheeks, you just wanna worship him. (iâm gonna cry)
when he comes, he would grip both your cheeks, staring into your beautiful eyes and strings of curses would leave his mouth as you smile down at him.
âiâm so proud of you lixieâ
âi love you y/nâ
â seungmin
allll minnie wants to do is make you feel like the most adored girl in the world by him. youâd come home from such a shit day at work and find him on the sofa, tuck yourself in next to him and heâd plant a kiss on your head. âbad day baby?â he says. âveryâ youâd lift your head up for a kiss in which he would reciprocate but would then obviously turn into a make out session.
what you wouldnât expect though is the fact that he would be grabbing your hand and placing it on top of the rock hard tent in his jeans. clearly he wants you to take it slightly further? right? you would put a slight bit of pressure on top and start to rub your hand up and down which would elicit a BEAUTIFUL moan from him. âis this okay min?â âyes.. p- pleaseâ
he would undo his jeans (still making out with you duh) and you try your best to stop yourself from kicking your feet in happiness from the whole situation. âare you sure?â you say worried. âiâm 100% sureâ he assures and you smile into the kiss.
lotsss of foreplay whilst seungmin is working up the confidence to do this properly with you. you really didnât mind how this went, you were just so happy to finally be intimate with your favourite man.
youâd straddle his lap, his cock directly underneath your pussy and you give him a quick glance which he nods in response to. slowly, youd lower yourself onto him and he throws his head back in bliss against the couch. his hands would be roaming all over your thighs, torso, hips, ass (he CANNOT get enough of your body!)
âfuck baby- iâm sorry- iâm gonna cumâ he would grunt out, lowkey embarrassed afff but you wouldnât mind. itâs understandable. âgonna cu- ahâ.
âomg thatâs so embarrassingâ he would say covering his face. youâd move his hands away to see his gorgeous face âi really donât mind minnieâ
âwe will have to try again laterâŠâ
â jeongin
picture this: you and innie in your pjs watching a film after all the boys have left the apartment. (aww so cute BUT-) he leans over to place kisses on your collar bone whilst running his fingertips up your thigh. instantly you begin to feel yourself getting worked upâŠ
âinnie..â youâd say as your breath catches. âi wanna make you feel good babygirlâ he would say in reply. where has this suddenly come from? what does he mean by that? your eyes would widen in shock. does he mean what you think he means? âlift up babyâ and you do, he pulls your shorts and panties from underneath you soon finding your pussy and slowly sliding his fingertips inside your folds.
you would gasp and throw a hand over your mouth. innie has NEVER touched you like this before and you felt absolutely over the moon, the new sensations beginning to make you feel animalistic. âinnie are you sure youâre okay to-â he would disregard your worries with a kiss on your lips (omfg heâs so hot).
the way he would rub his fingertips around your clit has you writhing underneath him and you desperately try and get his cock out of his pj pants. he would moan down your ear at the feeling of your hands on him and that would only turn you on tenfold.
he would lean you to lay on your back on the couch and spread your legs slowly. âyouâre so fucking beautiful y/nâ (& thatâs facts, reader!) âplease innie i want you so badâ (also facts) and he would push into you slowly, his body shaking at the new incredible sensation.
whimpery. jeongin. !!!!
the way he would make out with you whilst heâs coming is so cute i could cry. (he loves you sm ahh)

Author's Notes: That marks the end of this series :( thank you guys so much for all the love and feedback! Iâm so proud of this series and I hope u guys love it as much as I do.
Masterlist: Here
It had been a year since the custody battle, since Rafe and you had found yourselves standing side by side, figuring out this whole "family" thing. A year since both of you issued a restraining order against Ward, and the judge granted it. A year since you stopped pretending you didnât feel something for him, and he stopped acting like he was too good for anyone, especially you. Now, the chaos of life had settled into a strange, beautiful rhythm. It wasnât perfectâfar from itâbut it was yours.
And, somehow, against all odds, the three of you had made it work.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, where you stood trying to assemble breakfast. You had learned, over time, that cooking for Willa was an Olympic sport. Every time you managed to whip together a simple meal, she somehow managed to flip the situation on its headâliterally.
"Willa, no!" you heard Rafe call out from the living room. You looked up just in time to see him frantically trying to stop her from scaling the couch like some sort of tiny, diaper-clad Spider-Man. âYou canât climb up there!â
But Willa was undeterred. She gave a small shriek of triumph, her baby legs scrabbling up the cushions like she was born to conquer furniture. You had to admit, you were impressed.
"I swear sheâs part monkey," you muttered under your breath, flipping pancakes with a practiced hand.
Rafe stumbled into the kitchen, his hair sticking out at odd angles, the look of a man who had given up on ever having a decent morning.
âYou say that like itâs a surprise,â he deadpanned, rubbing his face. âWeâve had this conversation a hundred times. No more couch climbing. Sheâs already an inch away from that giant coffee table, which, let me remind you, is made of solid oak. And do you know what happens when Willa decides gravity is optional?â
You snorted. âWe end up on the floor with her holding a half-empty juice box like sheâs just conquered the world, while you scramble to pick up the pieces of your dignity.â
He shot you a pointed look. âExactly.â
You set the pancakes aside and wandered over to rescue Willa, who was now attempting to climb up the back of the couch like a small, determined mountain goat. Scooping her up with one hand, you held her up in front of you. âYou know, kid, youâre lucky youâre so cute, because if I had to stop doing my work every time you decided to do a backflip off a chair, Iâd be in therapy by now.â
Willa gurgled, her eyes wide and innocent, as though she didnât have a single rebellious bone in her tiny body.
Rafe leaned against the doorframe, folding his arms. âIâm just saying, if sheâd stop doing that, maybe I could get ten minutes of peace. But no. We live in a house of chaos.â
You smirked, watching as Willa grabbed his shirt and yanked. âIf sheâs chaos, youâre the tornado that hits right after,â you teased, making Rafe roll his eyes dramatically. âJust admit itâyou love it.â
He groaned but couldnât hide the small smile tugging at his lips. âYeah, yeah, I love the chaos. But you have to admit itâs a lot of work. I mean, whoâs going to put together her tiny little rocking horse without accidentally breaking something?â
âNot me,â you said, raising an eyebrow. âIâm pretty sure I broke that rocking horse three times already.â
At that, Rafe laughed, running a hand through his hair. âAlright, Iâll take that as my cue to fix it. You keep trying to make breakfast, and Iâll figure out whatâs going on with the toy horse thatâs apparently haunted.â
Willa babbled in your arms, and you kissed the top of her head. âIâm not saying this to be dramatic, but Iâm pretty sure she is a secret agent in training. Iâve seen her figure out how to break into places sheâs not supposed to be like sheâs in a spy movie.â
Rafe raised an eyebrow. âSpy movie? Sheâs more like a tiny burglar who knows how to manipulate you with her big eyes and unstoppable giggle.â
You chuckled, nodding. âFair. But I still think she could make a killing in espionage. Maybe we should start saving for her college fund in case she ends up needing a fake passport.â
Rafe grinned, his mood visibly lightened by your banter. âIâm pretty sure weâre going to need therapy more than we need a college fund. But Iâll get started on that fake passport idea, just in case.â
You grinned back at him, feeling that familiar warmth settle in your chest. There was a timeâjust a year agoâwhen you had no idea what your future would look like. Now, here you were, a family, even if it didnât look like any family you had ever imagined.
âWell,â you said, turning back to the pancakes, âwe better get our act together before she eats all the syrup by herself.â
Rafe snorted and shot you a grin. âYou think sheâs not going to try that already?â
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
Later that day, after Willaâs nap (which, letâs be honest, was more of a battle than an actual nap), you and Rafe found yourselves in the backyard, taking a breather after the chaotic lunch youâd just survived. Willa was happily playing in her little sandbox, tossing sand like it was confetti at a New Yearâs party, while you and Rafe collapsed onto the porch swing, exhausted but content.
"How the hell did we get here?" you asked, your voice quiet, more to yourself than to him.
Rafe leaned back with a sigh, staring up at the sky. "Iâm pretty sure we got here because youâre too stubborn to admit you love me," he said with a grin.
You nudged him with your elbow. "Excuse me, but itâs not just me thatâs stubborn. Have you seen the way you try to resist her puppy-dog eyes? You canât even handle Willa when she does her sad little face, and you know it."
He groaned. âItâs my kryptonite. Iâm weak. Iâll admit it.â
âGood. Because that means youâre finally accepting that sheâs the boss around here. Weâre just along for the ride.â
Rafe chuckled, nudging you back. âIf thatâs true, then Iâm okay with it. Besides, she has the best team behind her, right?â
You smiled softly, watching Willa scoop up a handful of sand and drop it like a tiny little sandstorm. âRight. And weâre the best team for her.â
There was a pause, a quiet moment where both of you watched Willa. The future was still uncertainâlife always wasâbut for the first time in a long time, it didnât seem so scary.
âWell,â Rafe said, standing up and stretching, âI guess we better go make sure our future crime boss doesnât eat the sand. You know, for her health.â
You snorted, laughing as you stood too. âYou mean for the safety of our sanity?â
âThat too,â Rafe said, laughing as he grabbed your hand and pulled you into a warm hug.
It wasnât perfect, but it was real. And for once, that was enough.
âŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻâŻ
And so, life continued. Chaotic. Messy. Full of love. Your newfound family was far from conventional, but it was undeniably theirsâand somehow, that made it all the more beautiful.
Plus, Willa? Sheâd definitely grow up to be a world-class agent of chaos, and Rafe and you would have to learn to live with that.
But at least youâd be together.

íŹìčâ ïč đESIGNATED DRIVERâ ïč
ïčâ it seems like he doesn't like youâ âŠ
lee heeseung female reader âč fluff one shot ïč1658ïč . . . shelf ! not proofread
today, one of your friends organized a small reunion/sleepover, so you arrived on time with a bag on your shoulder, with some snacks and some clothes in there. and the one who opened the door was nothing more than lee heeseung, wearing black sweatpants and a white t-shirt, with his red bangs over his eyes as he was holding a joystick with his free hand.
âheyâ he didn't look at your eyes for more than a second, letting you some space to come in. you just greeted him the same way with a tiny smile.
after that, he seated again on the sofa to keep playing with sunoo on the tv. so after saying hi to the younger one, you made your way to the kitchen, where jay and jake were washing and drying some dishes. scaring them from behind, you also greet them, leaving your bag on some chair.
âokay, i need to ask you a favor..â jake begun to talk without turning to look at you. and you hummed, waiting for him to continue. âso, i thought i bought the tomato sauce to make the pizzas, but it seems like i didn't, so..â
âso, you want me to go buy itâ you sighed, piercing the back of his head. he smiled, knowing you couldn't look at him.
âi would go, but since i have this injury on my knee.. i can't driveâ jay says as he keeps washing. jake nodded in agree, now looking at you, trowing you his puppy eyes.
âand i'm helping him to dry this..â now jake says, excusing himself immediately.
something of all of this was kinda suspicious, but you didn't care so much, so you just nodded as you looked at both of them.
âyeah, but i can't drive, remember?â a wide smile appeared on jake's face.
âand thats why hee is gonna be your chofer. and before you ask, he don't know anything about cooking, so that's the reason i didn't tell him to goâ you looked over your shoulder and heeseung was invested on the tv, laughing about something with sunoo.
you get back your eyes to your friend, who was wide smiling. âall right then.â
âgreat, you're the best! now take the money from my wallet, that it's over thereâ he made a head movement, pointing you his wallet so you went grab it.
âheyâ you hear another voice from behind you, and after you can turn, you feel an open palm over your head, messing your hair a little.
âhey, rikiâ you smiled at the taller boy who was also smiling at you. then he greeted jake and jay before going to the sofa where heeseung and sunoo were.
after some minutes of chatting with the old ones, you remembered that you needed to go to buy what jake asked minutes ago.
you just accepted your destiny, which was to stay alone with heeseung. and you were so sure that he didn't like so much.
âokay, then we'll be back in a bit!â you started walking to the sofa, where niki and sunoo were now playing, as heeseung watched the screen.
you tap his shoulder from behind, and he raises up his face to look at you. âyou're my designated driver.â heesung looks at you with curious eyes, but he got up anyway, following you till the door.
âi wasn't aware of this..â he murmured as you two walked through the hallway to the elevator.
âah, you don't want to drive me?â you joked with a smile as you looked at him behind you over your shoulder. he slightly shakes his head.
âit's fine.â you nood in response as your two entered the elevator.
something seemed off each time you spoke with heeseung. he always is awkward around you, giving you fast and short responses, not looking at you and even putting a considerable distance between you two. even now that you were on a small elevator. at some point a few months ago, all that it kinda hurt you.
it was silent until you reached his car, entering and putting your seat belt. and heeseung made the same, after he put some music. thank god, or the trip would be more awkward.
you agreed with this, yeah, but how could you say no to jake?
âi heard that now you're the basketball captain, congratsâ you tried to make some conversation because you were about to die because of this situation. he just nodded, slightly curving his lips in an almost inexistent smile.
âyeah, it was the last year of my senior, so he recommended me as the captain.â
âwell thats great. it means you're good at itâ you said, watching from the corner of your eyes his side profile. he chuckled, and it was the first time you saw heeseung reaction in that away around you.
âi think soâ he shrugged his shoulders as he kept his eyes on the street.
after some seconds of silence, he asked, âyour never came to one of our games?â you were watching outside with your chin resting on your hand, so you look at him by the corner of your eye again.
ânop, sience jay and jake, play on the soccer team. i just go to watch themâ you simply respond without looking at him properly. âi don't go to the games if i don't have someone to go for.â
âand what about me?â his question took you by surprise, making you slowly turn your head in his direction. his eyes were fixed ahead and his lower lip between his teeth.
âwhat about you?â
âwhy you don't go to see me too?â his tone was lower. you almost believed that he was.. complaining?
âyeah? well, i thought that you didn't like meâ the words came out like an affirmation, making heeseung frown his eyebrows.
âwhat? why do you think that?â he turned the steering wheel, watching you from the corner of his eye. you two were almost at the parking of the supermarket.
âit's obvious, heeseung.. you barely speak to me. you avoid me like the plague. you don't even want to stand beside me.â now you look outside, preparing yourself to take off your seat belt.
it was so embarrassing to say that out loud. admitting that you cared about how he treated you, or well, doesn't treat you.
heesung finally parks, turning off the car. and when he was about to speak, you opened the door, walking to the supermarket. the red-haired boy just rushed to your side, walking a few steps away from you in silence.
the next 15 minutes, all it was between the two of you were silent and an awkward tension. so when you finally came out with the bottle of tomato sauce, you just entered the car in silence.
you put your seat belt again, waiting to heeseung to turn on the car, but all he do is stay in silence for a few seconds, like thinking about something. then he finally turns his body in your direction, meeting your eyes, making you feel nervous.
âit's not that i don't like youâ he sighed, lowering his eyes to his hands, âactually.. it's quite the oppositeâ you frown your eyebrows, trying to understand his words. âi like you, like really like you.â
the bottles of sausage clink on your arms as you blink a couple of times in his direction. his eyes meet yours one more time, and your heartbeat increases.
âi know that maybe you don't believe me because i do all what you said, but it's because i don't know how to act around you. i start to be completely useless. an idiot when you even talk to me.â he chuckles with suddenly shyness.
âheeseung i..â
âit's okay. you don't have to feel the same way. i just wanted to tell you this so you don't have to think that i hate you or something.â his big eyes were staring yours with such brightness that you never ever seen before, or you didn't notice.
âi know, but..â
âand don't worry. if you are uncomfortable after this, i can leave you some space or whatever you want.â he keeps interrupting you without even notice.
âheeseung!â you exclaim softly. he stares at you with his surprised bambi eyes, opening his mouth to speak, but you interrupt him. âif you like me, like you said.. then why didn't you notice that i feel the same way?â
âwhat?â
at this point, your heart was about to jump out of your chest. but you simply nood. âyeah, you dork. sience last year.â
âwhat?â he babbles still with his eyes widened.
âstop saying that..â you chuckle, carefully leaving the bottles on your lap, so you could face him properly.
âi'm sorry. it's just.. i thought you had a crush on jay or something.â you shake your head, holding your laugh.
âthat's impossible. he's like my older brotherâ you roll your eyes, and after thinking about it a couple of seconds, you reach his hands with yours.
âi like you since last year too..â he murmured, looking at your hands and grabbing his. âi feel like an idiot now.â
âthen we're two.â
he raised his face to look at you again, and a wide smile finally appeared on his lips, making you smile too. âthen i can take you out on a date?â
you pretend to think about it, making heeseung's heart stop, but seconds later you nood. âyeah, of course.â
âall right!â the two of you let go of each other's hands, sitting straight up in your seats.
heesung finally turns on the car after putting his seat belt. but after he started driving, he froze for a few instants, and you look at him with curiosity. his fits over the steeling wheel as he bite the inside of his cheek.
âwhat'sââ
he interrupted you with a short kiss on your lips. and after you can reciprocate, he is back to his place, starting to drive. you look at him with surprise as you blink.
then you start laughing when you see his side profile again, especially his ears. âhee, your ears are the same color as the tomato sauce. no, even brighter!â
âthey're not!â he replied, embarrassed.
âthey are!â you keep laughing and mocking him, finally making him smile too.

A3! Magazine Interview Translation - Bâs-LOG March 2024 [Cover Boys Interview]
The true faces of todayâs flourishing young actors
This monthâs cover features Hyodo Kumon & Izumida Azami. Azami didnât have any particular school he wanted to go to. So when Kumon invited over him to Tsukushi High School, the two became senior and junior. The two of them show close they are by walking to and from school and eating lunch on the rooftop together.
We bring you a newly written interview that provides a closer glimpse of their true faces.
*Please read disclaimer on blog
---
Q: Do you have anything thatâs been important to you since childhood?
Kumon: Since childhood, huh~? Ah! I thought of something!
Azami: What is it?
Kumon: A home run ball from my favourite baseball player! One day when I was little, I was watching a game at the stadium. While I was cheering as hard as I could, it flew right by me and I caught it.
Azami: Oh, thatâs pretty amazinâ. Thatâs not something you can get no matter how many times you go.
Kumon: Exactly! Do you have anything like that, Azami?
Azami: Iâve⊠always had a cheek brush with me. Itâs kinda like my good luck charm.
Kumon: Ooh, right. I know which one youâre talking about!
Azami: Yeah, Iâve used it on you before.
Q: Would you rather be called âcoolâ or âcuteâ?
Kumon: Iâd definitely be happier being called cool! Youâre the same right, Azami!?
Azami: If itâs between those two choices, then I guess it doesnât really matter what you call me. But I donât like it when people call me cute to tease me. I hope they'll quit doing that.
Kumon: Now that you mention it, Azuma-san calls you cute every now and then, right? Like itâs so cute and innocent how you immediately get embarrassed whenever you talk about love.
Azami: Thatâs why I keep tellinâ him to quit it.
Kumon: That doesnât make you happy?
Azami: Azuma-san is totally just makinâ fun of me.
Kumon: Eh~? I donât think heâs teasing you though. I think he genuinely means it.
Q: Tell us the truth. Are you actually a scaredy-cat?
Azami: Nah, not really.
Kumon: Me neither! Actually, Azami and I went to a haunted house together the other day!
Azami: Right, Kumon said he wanted to go to one outta nowhere.
Kumon: I thought itâd be interesting so I invited Azami and we went right away. That haunted house was loads of fun!
Azami: Well. I guess Iâm glad I went since I could use their makeup as reference.
Kumon: Maybe Iâll go with Summer troupe next time!? Ah, I wonder if theyâd come thoughâŠ
Azami: It wouldnât hurt to try invitinâ them. âŠI canât say for sure that all the members would go though.
Q: How would you confess? In-person, by phone, or by LIME?
Azami: H-HUH!? Who the hell would answer that!!
Kumon: Itâs fine, itâs fiiine! By the way, Iâd do it face-to-face for sure! Iâd like to see their face as I tell them and make sure I'm getting my feelings across properly.
Azami: âŠI see.
Kumon: Câmon, Azami. How about you?
Azami: Iâm not gonna say. Lay off me! Get to the next question already!
Kumon: I sure wonder when weâre gonna get to hear Azami talk about this stuff~.
Q: When youâre on a date⊠would you hold hands, link arms, or do something else?
Azami: Another question like this? You gotta be kidding me!
Kumon: Now, now. Chill out, Azami! Considering the distance with my girlfriend⊠I guess Iâd like to hold hands. But I bet both are out for Azami! So for him, itâd be âsomething elseâ?
Azami: Hey, whyâre you answering for me without askinâ?
Kumon: I knew you wouldnât answer so I figured Iâd say something for you!
Azami: This isnât somethinâ you talk about with other people!
Kumon: You werenât saying anything though. You gotta give an answer here! For the Azami in my mind, I don't think heâd be interested in doing PDA outsideâor rather, I donât think heâd be able to do it in the first place⊠Ah, you see, Azamiâs a serious guy! But Iâm sure thereâs someone out there whoâll say they like that about you!
Azami: Uh, why am I being encouraged right now
Kumon:: Anywho, what do you really think? Did my answer hit it out of the park?
Azami: Urk, donât fricken ask me! No comment!

Iâve seen people make excuses for the writing by mentioning itâs all just set up for spin offs and sequels but⊠I donât want that? Why on earth would I want to wait 3 years for a show to say âoh by the way these characters will get proper conclusions in the spin offsâ.
Just tl:dr Iâm over this series and donât plan on watching any of the sequels or spin offs. Maybe if they introduce a hot robot character Iâll check it out.
Thereâs not even a promise that every single character that has an inconclusive ending (which is all of them btw) will have spin offs and sequel shows. Iâm pretty sure theyâre likely going to just use a completely different cast since League has a lot of characters.
Iâve seen arguments that the season is bad because it has very few episodes and wasnât spaced out, and while I do agree the pacing is terrible I also⊠donât even think this show could have been salvaged if they gave it a full 4 seasons. Because either way, it was going to end with a lot of characters being badly written, sideline and having arcs unfinished so it can be explored in sequels and spin offs (if that even happen).
One thing I liked about arcane is that it avoided a lot of really bad tropes that Iâve seen modern queer media weirdly struggle with. Arcane avoided the pitfalls written female characters, female characters used to push male relationships and very clearly abusive couples that are dismissed just because theyâre gay.
Then season 2 happens and Mel becomes a disposable black woman trope, Sky only existed for male angst, Maddie is literally there for shock value and adds nothing to the narrative, Vi just⊠turned into that and Caitvi is toxic yuri in a way thatâs very unfun and frustrating. These two are seriously so incompatible for each other, but they make out and have sex a lot so Iâm sure this destructive relationship with warring idealogies will be fine. Please queer shows for the love of god stop assuming gay characters kissing and fucking makes up for their lack of communication and horrible behavior to each other.
Honestly Iâm really disappointed that all these things happened to Sky, Mel and Maddie because watching fans tear apart female characters for 4 years just for existing and getting in the way of ships only for them to be exactly that and for fans to cheer about their suffering pisses me off so bad like girl⊠what the hell happened did the writers have amnesia. How do you write this show right after season one and fuck up this bad.
Maybe we should stop making videos about how tv shows write female/queer characters well until theyâre actually done because this is getting ridiculous.
And yes I want to come back to the issue with how black characters were treated because I do find it pretty gross for Mel and Ekko to be absent for most of the show but then come back to basically save the day so fans donât complain about how they were obviously sidelined for the sake of other characters. I dont really care for Ekko/Jinx but I did enjoy their time together in the AU.
And another annoyance is that this show did such an incredible job at introducing moral greyness to the show but then got scared to really commit to giving these characters any consequences. And I donât mean like death or going to jail, but I mean holding grudges. I think Jinx is a very interesting and tragic character but sheâs also⊠a terrorist? She caused the death of their friends and father? Like sheâs a grown woman making these decisions. Having characters run around and risk their lives to save her felt a bit frustrating because yeah circumstances lead to this but half of these circumstances are also her fault. I really wish the entire season was about Vi choosing whether or not she was ready to forgive Jinx instead of basically accepting her back because Vander is back.
And VANDERâŠ. Actually I wonât say anything because the more I mention him the more it pisses me off.
I have more thoughts but I gotta draw some comics so Iâll just leave at that. Disappointing season that I think is a lot worse than fans insist it is. Itâs not one or two issues, itâs just compounding problems that wonât improve.
Thoughts on Arcane season 2
I didnât like this season
Itâs not bad, but I found it incredibly rushed, cramped and deeply unsatisfying
While season 1 had several protagonists it was also pretty obvious that Vi and Jinx were the emotional core of the entire show so why on earth was their dynamic barely explored here
Vi went from being my favorite character to a character I found deeply frustrating and annoying. What the hell is her personality of getting her sister back and fucking the hot lesbian. She has no consistency whatsoever and itâs something I donât think the show realizes how batshit the constant flip flopping in. What do you mean you sister tells you sheâs going to kill herself and then you start fucking your messy situationship
I donât really care for Jayvik but I found Jayceâs confession very sweet.
Mel my beautiful queen theyâre gonna call you a Mary Sue
What the fuck was with all that Witch shit and Ambessaâs death was incredibly unsatisfying
Victor fans who kept begging the team to not make him a hot buff robot so he can still be a skinny twink pisses me off so bad because now we have an inferior twink robot design. I know fans probably didnât influence this but I also need to complain about their lack of taste like what do you mean you didnât want to see a hot buff robot man.
Ekko feels like an incredibly unimportant character and Iâm pretty sure fans only like him because of what he can do for Jinx. A part of me wished he actually did hold a grudge just to see how fans reacted.
Season 1 was all about setting up emotional complexities and how nobody was truly evil and the show made it seem like there was no way for anyone to fully recovery from this but everyone is holding hands and singing kumbayaâs so alright nevermind then
This show was honestly a little too in love with Jinx. I did not enjoy her writing in acts 1 and 2.
The jokes were really bad this season
The songs oh my god the SONGS. I didnât mind them in season 1 but in season 2 it started to remind me of love is blind and anyone who has watched that show would know what a massive insult that is.
Caitvi lesbian sex scene and I couldnât even enjoy it because the writing was pissing me off
Caitlyn shouldâve continued her little fascist arc.
Melâs arc this season felt like weird fanfiction.
A bunch of random side characters die off unceremoniously after the show gave them so much unnecessary screen time
I hated Isha sorry. Iâve never seen a character more clearly made to die.
Jinx death means nothing to me because I know she isnât dead so why even do all that lol
I will never call this show sexist but it has done a massive disservice to its female characters.

Sweet Tooth (Joe Goldberg x gn reader x Love Quinn)
Summary: you're a big fan of the bakery, but Joe and Love are after something sweeter- you
Warnings: obsessive behavior from Love and Joe but that's about it
A/N: my mom made me a carrot cake recently and it inspired me to write this
Everyday you entered A Fresh Tart right after lunch, needing a little something to satiate your sweet tooth before heading back to work. Sometimes it was a cake, sometimes it was a cookie, sometimes a pie, but it was always delicious.
Love quickly caught on to your routine, always making sure she was free to assist you whenever you came in. If another customer needed help, they were just going to have to wait, because you were much more important.
The bell chimed above the door to signal that you'd arrived, prompting her to smooth out the front of her apron before putting on a bright smile. "Hey! I was wondering when you were going to come in."
"I had a meeting that ran a little late, so my lunch hour got pushed back some," you replied with a smile that mirrored hers. The unfortunate bags under your eyes didn't escape her, a sure sign that you were overworking yourself, but the faint dimples that formed on your cheeks quickly diverted her attention. How cute.
"Well, you're here now. So, what can I get for you?"
While you mulled over what kind of confection you wanted for the day, Joe peeked his head out from the back. So that's the person Love always raved about coming in just after noon. You were cute, he couldn't deny that.
"If you're having some trouble making a decision, why don't you try both and see which one you like better?" He heard his wife offer when you clearly became stuck on choosing between two different sweet treats.
"Oh, I can't do that," you began to protest before Love waved her hand dismissively at your words.
"Nonsense! It's my bakery, and I say you can have a sample if you wish," she insisted while cutting a small sliver of cake from the one in the glass display case before grabbing the second pastry you'd been eyeing, placing them both in a paper to go box. "Try both, and tomorrow you when you come in you can tell me which one you liked better."
"That's awfully kind of you. Are you sure I don't owe you anything?" You asked as she slid the box across the counter, already starting to pull out your wallet.
"Of course not! It's on the house."
Despite her words of reassurance and warm smile, you still felt as though she deserved something in return, so you took out a five dollar bill and stuck it in the tip jar. "I'll be back tomorrow at my usual time."
Her eyes twinkled with admiration at the small act of kindness. You were so much sweeter than any of the things she baked, that much was certain. "See you then."
Joe came out from the back as she was watching you leave, slightly amused at the exchange that just happened. Before he could speak, however, she beat him to it.
"I want them."
It wasn't a suggestion or a request, it was a demand, one that wasn't left open for any arguments. Love wanted you, and what she wanted she got. All she needed to do was get him on board, which shouldn't be too hard given just how irresistible you were.
The next day when you came in, Love wasn't there, having taken Henry to a doctor's appointment for a check-up, which meant the she'd left Joe in charge.
"Oh, hey," you greeted in a friendly manner despite never having met him before. "You must be Joe, right? Love told me that she ran the place with her husband."
Immediately he knew why she wanted you so much. Everything about you just screamed perfect, there was no doubt about that. "Uh, yeah, hi. She told me you were having some sort of difficulty choosing between two items yesterday," he casually mentioned, wanting you to think their marriage was much smoother than it really was. They couldn't lure you in successfully if all you saw were their problems.
"I did, you're right," you replied with a soft laugh, one that made his heart leap forward in his chest. God, no wonder Love always dropped everything just so she could see you whenever you came in. He suspected the only reason she'd offered to take Henry today was so he could officially meet you and become just as obsessed with you as she was.
"And were you able to make a decision?" He was curious about you already, curious about your personal taste, your likes and dislikes. He needed to know it all.
"Well, they were both amazing as usual, but I think I'm going to have to go with the cake. Everything about it was delicious, especially the icing," you fondly reminisced, almost beginning to salivate at the thought alone.
"Sure thing," he said while grabbing a knife to cut you a slice, unable to stop himself from thinking about just how sweet your lips must taste after every trip you made to the bakery. He'd have to try a piece of the cake himself a little later so he could imagine it properly.
Your eyes were wide with giddy delight as you observed his every move, clearly excited to be able to eat the cake when you got the chance. You were just about to pull out your wallet when he held up his hand to stop you. "Don't worry about it. Love told me to tell you it's on the house."
"You know, one of these days you're really going to have to let me repay you somehow," you commented while dropping aother five dollar bill into the tip jar, just like you did last time.
Joe was already thinking of ways for you to repay the both of them, but they were far too lewd for him to say out loud. "You have a nice day," was his response instead, giving you a small wave as you left.
Damn it, he was hooked. There was no way he could refuse Love's order, because now he wanted the exact same thing she did: you.
And they were going to have you, one way or the other, no matter what it took.
End notes: I loved writing this and I'd totally be up to making a part two if anyone wanted it <3

We got some cutie all ages fluff down here, folks!
"And that's when you go in for the kiss!"
Leo had a fist to his lip's and nodded as if this conversation was of the utmost importance.
The random man in question who had approached you while you were hanging out with your best friend was none the wiser. You weren't sure where he had come from, but had interjected himself into your conversation without warning. He had some ripe opinions on romance that apparently couldn't wait for people he knew. Instead of running, Leo had been prompting him for the sake of it and sending you more and more exaggerated looks each time the man looked away.
"What about consent?" Leo asked.
The man reared for a moment before he thought which part. "At which part? We haven't gotten past first base."
"You gotta ask if you're going to kiss someone." Leo spoke with a firmness that you read as genuine.
"The mood!"
"Don't start." Leo shook his head.
"It ruins the mood." The man insisted.
"It does not." Leo waved him off for the first time.
"It does! You think your lady friend is going to still wanna smooch after you interrupt leaning in to ask permission!? That's not manly!"
"Manly, huh?" Leo's mask quirked with his brow. "Also, just lady friends?"
He glanced at you.
You chewed your lip and glanced away to not laugh.
"Ah, man friend, lady friend. Whatever friend! It doesn't matter!" The man huffed. "It's all the same in the eyes of love."
"Consent is hot, that's all I'm saying." Leo shrugged.
"Ah!" The man grunted and turned. "You don't get it! Oh! I bet they do!"
You both watched as the man jogged off at the next unsuspecting group of people.
"Well then!" Leo put his hands on his hips. "I never!"
He held the haughty pose until a giggle finally broke free from you and he slumped to your side.
"That was something." You told him.
"You know I really like conversations like that." Leo stuck a leg out to walk.
You followed his lead with solider-like attention. "Yeah? Seemed a bit like you were teasing him."
"Me!?" He gaped sarcastically at you before his features went lackadaisical. "Making something a gag is second nature. I really do I swear."
You thought for moment. "Okay... Why?"
"Why?" He digested the question and looked up at the buildings. "Let's see. People are interesting. They've got all these opinions and they're wild! Everyone is so different and they'll try to ask these questions about you, but they don't really want to know, but I do. Like I already know me; I want to know about them!"
It gave you pause and you thought back. In all the time you had known Leo, he had been like that. If you ever asked him something as simple as his favorite color, he would somehow turn the conversation around on you until you were matching shades in some sun room that you were going to retire in.
He made you feel like the center of the world and you loved him for it. He was bright and whip smart, but he also had an undeniable loneliness. He never let it get to him, but it made you want to get closer. You pushed to get his number after meeting him. You made sure to text him if a little too much time had gone by. You made future plans with him always included.
You became the best of friends before you even knew it.
Leo said yes to pretty much everything, even when his schedule was packed. it was his eagerness of companionship and just that he was generally a good friend, even if you found yourself mortified around him often. His wit and penchant for a bit meant that if you said the slightest thing wrong that he would hone in on it. It was further sharpened to a knife having had three brothers and because of it you had built a repertoire of inside jokes.
He was special and even just taking a walk with him on a day like today would be a highlight of your week.
"I see it." You eventually said.
"What'dyou think?"
"About what?" You glanced at him and the way the sunlight played on his barely shielded green skin.
"His pitch! That love guru's plan of attack. How to woo your lady, not lady friend."
A smile played on your lips. "Set the mood. Sure, that's good, but when's a mood, right? That's always a question."
"Exacty!" Leo threw a demonstrating hand to you. "Like is it being alone. We're alone right now?"
"Not really a mood?" You looked around.
"Should it be dark? They say those steak houses have romantic lightening when you can't even tell which fork your grabbing."
You laughed knowing what he'd say next.
"I'm telling you!" He pressed with the same knowledge. "They do it so they can give you lower cuts! That's why I always bust out the ole phone flashlight!"
"They do not!"
"I swear I ordered a rib eye but they served me flank. Flank!"
"The horror!"
"But yeah, okay so not the lights."
"Because I totally confirmed that."
"Okay, come here then."
You did so without hesitation.
"Okay, let me just..." He reached behind him to tug his hoodie off.
You watched on.
His chin caught. "Hold on." He squirmed to pull one arm through. "Hold!" It got trapped against the points of his plastron. "Wait, Wait!" His head disappeared down into the hole and you watched the blue fabric writhe.
There was no way he could see you, but when your hand came up to help he immediately scolded.
"Don't you dare! I've got this!"
You weren't sure if it was a bit or not, but that was Leo and he was nothing if not amusing.
"I got it!" In one hands to the ceiling move, his hoodie came off. "Check it!"
He flexed in his average looking t-shirt. "Very attractive."
"Thank you!" He told you with a point of his beak. "Alright, now cloud cover..."
He waved you over to a wall and you followed.
He looked you over a few times before he caged you in so he could hold the hoodie above both of you to block the light.
You stared at his red stripes in their proximity.
"Dark, how are we feeling?"
"Not really a mood."
"It's not a mood!" He cracked a grin. "We're already at the next factor."
"Oh?"
"Closeness. He said that thing about how both people realize they're a little too close and kissing is inevitable."
"Cause if that was true we would have kissed a bunch of times."
"Right?!" Leo clucked. "The Twister incident? That time I hit you with that little trashcan. Oh, oh! When you were demonstrating the banana thing and actually fell."
"That middle one..." You narrowed your eyes.
"An accident, I swear." He looked dire.
"I still think the banana was cause of the floor."
"Sure." Leo drew out the word.
You pinched the tail end of one of his stripes which also happened to be his cheeks.
He smiled all the more. "Alright then. Is that it? We've eliminated everything. Total bunk. That guy doesn't knowing a thing about romance."
"Yeah! Moods? Like what even is that?"
"Like cuddling on the couch?" Leo gagged.
"Running through the rain?" You added.
"Yeah, because I totally want to make out when I'm soggy!" His eyes rolled.
"Your clothes stick together!"
"You have to peel apart!" He shuddered and the hoodie shook as your umbrella.
You reached up on instinct to steady it right as one of the sleeves fell.
"Nice catch."
"Call me champ."
"No, I'm champ."
"You're champion."
"Your champion?" His mask waggled with his brow ridge.
"You can't count that! It was a bet."
"Oh yeah, what was last week when I got you that ice cream?"
"I was trying to be nice to you."
"Only trying?"
"You make it so easy."
"I do. I'm a great guy. Amazing friend. Easy on the eyes."
"The face of disaster. Person I would vote least likely to make a typo in front of because he will never let you live it down."
"I give you my life and my time!" He bemoaned.
"And I appreciate it."
He gave you his best puppy dog eyes. "Do you? You're just saying that. You totally said you were just saying that."
"No, you're the light of my life."
"In that voice? Maybe I'm the light from one of those nightlights that are automatic, like the kind that turn off as soon as you turn the real lights on."
You squared yourself and looked straight into his eyes.
He startled and gave you owlish attention.
"Leonardo Hamato. You are the most important thing to me. You appeared in my life and I made sure you were part of it and at some point you became someone I can't live without."
"Oh." The vowel popped out dull.
You were flooded with a wave of worry.
Had that been too much?
It was true.
You cared about Leo.
He made you laugh.
He made you smile.
He made you a priority.
You did the same with him.
It must have been all the romance talk.
He might have misconstrued the whole thing.
Certainly none of that meant anything more.
With the steam still trapped in your cheeks you met his eye.
He was staring the same intensity.
You shared it a little coy before you decided to face it head on.
You set your jaw and returned the full brunt of your certainty in the matter.
He blinked a single time. "Wanna make out?"
Your eyes went as wide as they could.
"Wait, that came out wrong!"
"Are you kidding me!?" You squawked.
"I said it was wrong! Let me-!"
"That's your idea of consent?!" You tugged the hoodie down.
Since he had his own hold on the fabric it pulled his arm.
Which pulled his shoulder.
Which pulled him closer.
You were inches away. "That guy was right! It does ruin a mood! 'Wanna make out?' Leo, what-?!"
He dropped a little lower and your heart spasmed.
He dipped down so he could look up at you through his lashes.
His gaze liquefied your insides on contact.
He held your gaze for a few calculated moments before he leaned up enough that the heat of his breath warmed your lips.
"I'm sorry. I meant, may I have the pleasure in kissing you?"
You closed the gap.
The hoodie dropped down around you for privacy.
You lost your vision and for a moment it was just you and him.
A tiny version of the world that you didn't mind.
Then, you parted.
Within the confines you heard the smack and felt the way your mouths were both open and ready for another.
"Like..." Leo licked his lips audibly. "Like that. You do it like that."
"If you tell me that was a bit I'm never talking to you again." You whined without an ounce of heat.
"I swear... Kiss on it?"
You tugged him right back to you and he smirked against you.

hi! i'd like to talk about losing. you don't have to read this if you don't want to, but i wanted to write it, and guess what, it's my blog. i just like this team a lot and i'm feeling a little maudlin about my guys and a little sick to fucking death of the shit i'm seeing all over kingdom come from 'fans'. so here we are.
So You Became A Fan Of A Living Legend But The Hockey Team Is Bad: a commentary.
look. this is not the most fun i've ever had watching hockey, and i'm quite sure a lot of people feel the same way. the penguins are bad this season! they were bad last season too, but there's something very special about the extent to which they are shit right now. and those are not fun games to watch.
but here's the thing: who cares.
like, idk. there's so much god damn negativity surrounding this team and its performance right now, and i'm guilty of contributing to it as well, because yeah of course i'd rather watch a team win in decisive fashion most nights. of course i'd rather dream about may and june and the stanley cup. of course i want to watch that happen again for my favorite players. like, duh.
but. it's probably not going to. not if these players get what they want, which is to play together on this team until they're ready to retire.
and you know what? that's fine. if they're fine with it, who on earth am i to not be?
i think we all have the same reaction when we see idiots online saying things like 'sid doesn't deserve this trade him to a contender'. and that's because we are smarter and more refined fans who understand that what sidney crosby DESERVES is to select how and where and when his career ends. is it on a team that sucks? then that means being here is more important to him than getting that fourth cup. staying with geno and kris and the penguins as a whole, never putting on another NHL logo, is more significant to him personally than another victory. and isn't that special? isn't that worth celebrating?
of course we know all of that because we're better at being fans than the uncles online who are writing weird fanfic in their heads. but. guess what that comes with:
losing.
and losing badly, in the case of this season.
i am here to tell you that sitting and bitching about it helps no one. right now, what we have to watch and celebrate is our favorite players still playing at a high level. they're still doing cool stuff on the ice. and they're doing it TOGETHER. this is what they wanted. so your options are either to hate it and sit in negativity about it each and every game, OR readjust your mindset and learn to enjoy what we have while we have it.
we are watching myth-making happen live. we are watching living legends play hockey. this is a privilege and an honor and it's not something most fanbases get EVER. and we have two! can you believe it?
there are things i would have rather seen done differently over the last couple of years. as far back as 2019 there were moves i disagreed with and changes that could have been made that perhaps could have extended their window. and of course the 2022 series against the rangers, that was a very good team that got hit by injuries at the absolute worst possible time, and probably that was their last chance as a core to compete. it's frustrating to watch that stuff happen when you have no control over it.
the pittsburgh penguins were high-end competitors and contenders for seventeen years straight. that's insane and unheard of in this league. they're not anymore. and the price you pay for almost two decades of dominance is...being bad. when you're competing you trade prospects and draft picks for win-now players. sometimes those work out, most of the time they don't. with the amount of winning this team has done, even the trades that didn't work were worth it, because it meant they were trying.
there are no fanbases who are going to feel bad for penguins fans right now. that's also why we're getting so much attention from the national media. people aren't used to this team being as bad as it is, and people like watching downfalls. that's fine. most of those fans have never watched their team win, and most of them never will. so if their joy is coming from sidney crosby's team being bad....well, love and light, you know?
and we shouldn't feel bad for ourselves either. this is what happens. this is how it goes. this is the price for the band staying together.
i dunno, guys. this is a disjointed rant. it's just so effing hard to be kicked in the nuts everywhere you go with unrelenting negativity. it's on twitter it's in the articles and yes, it's here too. but if you can't be a fan of a team when they're bad, then i'm sorry but you're not a fan of the team (or certain players), you're a fan of winning. and NO team wins all the time every year. that's not how sports work.
we are lucky. at least, i feel lucky! don't you? gosh, sidney crosby scored his 600th career goal tonight. evgeni malkin is over 500 goals on his career. can you believe that? it's amazing to watch.
and it's going to be over in less than two years. do we really want to waste it by wishcasting something that's not going to happen instead of enjoying what we DO have?
if the media bums you out, don't listen. don't read the articles. don't go on twitter. dry your tears on the stanley cup banners that sid and geno hung upâthere are three to choose from!

A/N: BTW Iâm still very much stuck here so I decided to write a lil something about it. (Pardon me, I donât know the terms for what I should call this)
Sorry if this sucks, I did it while I had down time at work. Not proof read. Hope yâall like it.
Warnings; none, pure teeth rotting sweet fluff
*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Itâs had been a pretty good day so far, I was sitting next to Noah on one of the sofas in the creative studio where all of desigin for their merch took place.
All of the guys where gather together having a good time after a good day of work. We were drinking our favorite drinks cracking a joke here and there. If Iâm being honest I donât really bring much to the table when it comes to designing stuff but my favorite thing is to hang out with the boys especially Noah, he was one of my favorite people ever.
âSo Y/N, what do you think about the designs so far?â Davis asked, he was head of designs here so I appreciated that he even asked for my opinion.
âI really like them, fans are gonna go crazy over them, so cool that this time around you guys donât have limited quantities so everyone can really get what they wantâ, I said
âyeah thatâs a plus, Iâm really glad we where able to do that this time aroundâ Jolly chimed after he took a sip of his drink.
The conversation went on for a little while about random topics here and there . And somehow we ended up talking about true crime which is one of my most favorite subjects.
âOh yeah! I recently watched a documentary about serial killersâ I took a breath âsometimes I canât believe what a human being is capable of doing whatever the motive isâ
Folio looked at me âI donât know how you can watch all that stuff and not feel sick, youâre so braveâ
I chuckled a bit at the comment âmy family is big on horror so I grew up watching docs and horror moviesâ
âthat explains itâ Nick said laughing
As I went on to explain something else regarding the topic I noticed that Noah really wasnât involved in the conversation, he was just humming and looking directly at me. I turned my body so i could fully face him.
âhey big boy, whatâs got you thinking and smiling like that?â I said intrigued
âOh nothingâ he chuckled
âPlease tell meeeee!â I made my best puppy eyes at him, completely putting on second plain the conversation happening in the background. âAre you even paying attention?â I asked.
âFine Iâll tell you but you have to promise not to make fun of meâ he said looking quizzically at me.
âI canât promise anythingâ I said looking around to the others getting up from their seats and making their way around the room, but when I looked back and catched Noahâs brown eyes looking at right at me I couldnât resist âokay fine I promise I wonât make fun of youâ
He stared at me with a wide grin â Oh I was just thinking about how lucky I amâ
âLucky?â I questioned
âyes lucky, lucky to have you.â Noah mentioned
âsilly old me?â I said joking
âAbsolutely, Iâm gonna be honest I havenât heard anything you said in the last ten minutes but damn did I realize that I love watching you ramble on about your interestsâ he says laughing âI love looking at how you express yourself and how pretty that face of yours isâ he said grabbing my hand.
âim lucky to spend everyday i can with you, and even know the rest may not realize it; theyâre lucky to have you in their life as well, even if itâs just in little moments like these.â Noah said adjusting his position.
I didnât know what to say; heat rose to my cheeks.
âYouâre beautiful and Iâm so lucky youâre in my lifeâ he said leaving a small kiss on my temple .
I couldnât resist just giving him the biggest hug, but what he didnât know is that I was the lucky one to have him in my life.
