I’m guessing you’re from the US, so naproxen sodium (generic name) would be sound brand name wise as Aleve. It targets the actual hormone-like components that cause the cramps and the nausea and all that stuff, they might cause you to feel slightly lightheaded as the cramp causing hormones get suppressed. Ibuprofen also works, but not as affective, from both personal experience and research in my studies. I personally have killer cramps, and I take like 3-4 naproxen’s throughout the day, have never failed me.

If you get a headache during your periods too, combine some Tylenol with some Aleve, it’s more effective together for headache purposes, a double wammy.

See the thing about aleve (and I've talked about this before) is that I've been taking it for cramps since I was 12. I'm 26 soon to be 27 now so my body has definitely built up some sort of immunity to it. It's why I started branching out bc last time I took aleve, I needed like 5-6 just to not feel my cramps and cost wise, that's just ridiculous. A bottle would last me no time so I was like this can't continue 😭
