- Genderqueer cat. Any character based on the Cheshire Cat is genderqueer to me istg. Chenya is no exception.

- I kept most of her design the same but added in some heterochromia for funsies and used those colours for the hair clips and earrings. Xe is also Hispanic, idk it just felt right.

- Totally has ADHD. The impulsive thoughts are obvious with this one and I think that Neige serves as its impulse control. They made like, a pact of sorts (after their Headmage yelled at Chenya for doing something) that Chenya tells Neige whatever the impulsive thought is and Neige either tell Chenya 'No, you can't do that' or 'We can do this instead'.

- Broke asf. I dunno but I feel like Chenya has like the worst habit of impulse buying you've ever seen so they never carry money on they to try and avoid it at Trey and Riddle's recommendation. It's mostly worked as Neige buys anything Chenya needs when they go out anyways.

- Anyways, I was fighting my demons to not make him black and I lost. I dunno, we don't have enough sweet, cute black boys in media and that is a crime.

- I gave him some hairclips with cute lil charms on them and some of those silly little acne patches. Idk if he actually has acne, he totally could, but I think he'd wear them either way to like normalise not be ashamed of it, y'know?

- I gave him some cute little apple earrings which were a gift that Rook gave him after a concert with one of his letters lol. He wears most of the jewelry gifted to him at one point or another but he really likes the apple earrings.

- Has a crush on Vil. Idk how popular of a headcanon that is but as soon as they interacted, I felt like it made sense. I love the one-sided rivalry lmao with Vil hating his ass and he's just like, 'Omg, she's so pretty and cool and smart. Wow, I'm so glad we get to work together so much!' It's really funny ngl.k

- Loves to crochet, knit, and sew. All are kinda skills he picked up while caring for the dwarves but they're his favourite to do. He's made Chenya a few sets of mittens (because for some super mysterious reason, they always go missing) and a quilt at some point.

- Likes anything with apples in it, pies, drinks, you name it. Fall is his favourite season because of apple cider alone (otherwise it'd be spring).

- I kept his design also pretty on model, darken his skin a smidge and textured his hair to match Leona's. Smacked some dimples and birthmarks on as if he wasn't cute enough already.

- The gold eyeliner is like a royal thing, maybe be specific to the crown line or maybe Leona's just too fcking lazy, probably the later.

- He's actually really good at chess. He's played many games with Leona, even though he didn't get it at first, but now he can beat most people who play him (still not Leona lest he really screws up something). Most of his birthdays, he gets a new pretty chess set and he has a little display of them in his room.

Now for his dad! The only character here without a canon design (as far as I know... which I'm upset about).

I woulda also made a design for his wife but I don' think she even has a name?? So maybe in the future.

- I based him more on Leona, trying to make sure that Cheka didn't just get his trait lmao. I think that he got his piercing actually after Leona got his because the palace staff were criticising him for it so Farena went and got one.

- I dunno, he's giving bi wife energy. It helps that the women of Sunset Savannah are buff and cool and I'm so mad we never saw them 😭😭😭 I wanna see Leona's sister-in-law so bad ;^;.

- He's not as much into the intellectual side of things like Leona is, would rather defeat people with strength which is why the two really don't get along super well. Though I think it's only perceived on Leona's side, I don't think Farena realises how much hurt Leona's had throughout his life.

- Angst aside, he doesn't get much in the way of free time what with all his royal duties and such. His favourite activities are spoiling his family and getting used as a weight for his wife's daily exercise!

- I didn't change much here either, just added some red streaks to her hair and matched her palette to Jamil's.

- I don't know if her age is ever implied but I think she'd be younger than him by like a year. She went to a different school with Kalim's cousin (who they're like besties).

- I feel like Najima didn't get the same set of exceptions set on her growing up and so her relationship with the Al-Asims, while still not necessarily healthy, was nowhere near as damaging. I think that while Jamil definitely envies that, he'd rather die than make her go through the same thing as him.

a few WuWa thoughts! these are just my opinion, + they'll be under the cut cause it got kind of long.

I'll start with pros:

It's gorgeous like the character models, the landscape etc. It's genuinely so cool to look at. the colours are really calming on the eyes as well, like the muted tones

On that topic: all the character designs i've seen are amazing. love them sm

The enemy design is *chef's kiss* they are literally so cool im gonna cry. it kinda reminds me in a weird way of elden ring?? i refuse to elaborate but my brain is connecting dots.

I love the echo system. It's a little confusing (i'll talk about it later) but having them be an active part of the combat system is really really interesting + anything that lets me turn into a monster is so swag

The music is super calming i wanna listen to it forever. Especially the Jinzhou city theme. eating it rn

A few drawbacks:

It's been kind of buggy. Ik there's been a hotfix by the time of this post, but there were moments were textures wouldn't load, dialogue is mixed up etc etc. Personally, my game crashed twice in one playthrough and that's a bit Eh, y'know?

The music mixing is strange. In some cutscenes the background music is wayyy too loud, even though I set the volume to have the voices being the highest value. The Scar lamb cutscene is a good example cause i could barely hear what he was saying

I love the echo system, but it is very convoluted. From what i can tell (unless i missed something, in which case it's entierly on me), you get echoes from fighting overworld enemies, but the stats are still up to rng which feels Weird. It means that instead of having a set 'here you can farm these types of echoes here' you need to run around trying to find them. for some people this might be fine, but it feels a bit messy to me. EDIT: The Tacet Fields seem to be the 'echo' domain, so I may be stupid? Wouldn't be the first time lmao???

the story isn't the best? Ik it's early game and i have high hopes but for me, as someone who wants to experience a story, it's been kind of lackluster? Similarly, none of the characters i've met are particularly interesting to me? I want to think they'll grow on me.

This one is fully just a personal thing. I'm not saying WuWa needs to catar to me specifically: there is a clear gender bias. From the get-go, almost all the characters i've met in the story have been female. If i picked female rover, Mortefi + Jiyan would have been the only guys in the narrative so far. That's a little insane

60 waveplates for everything so far is Weird. like I feel as though the tacet fields should be 40?? is this just me that is weirded out by this???

I know everyone is saying this + i want to stress that this isn't a 'haha wuwa is a genshin clone genshin could never hahaha' cause like to me this is a two cakes situation. However: WuWa has taken quite a bit of inspiration from genshin and it shows. To me, that isn't a good thing? obviously these types of openworld gacha games have like the same functions but so far the UI - including how the dialogue looks, the main menu, how the PP is set out etc etc - is incredibly reminiscent of genshin/star rail.

i know it seems like there's more cons, but that's mostly cause i felt the need to explain myself jfsdnkj i'm still going to be playing, i'm excited to see what it does + the story.

He used to fall in love pretty quickly, but tends to be more guarded, both for his sake and his kids'. His taste in men is awful and he can't be bringing these guys back home. He's also incredibly shy, and private, but not as poker-faced as he wishes he was.

He's not good at ending relationships on his own. Usually his friends have to intervene and spell it out for him that the guy he's dating is bad. But I suppose someone being a dick to his kids would spur him into action.

He tries to be affectionate, but he's incredibly awkward. Especially with his foster kids, since he's also a very cringey dad and desperate for his kids to think he's cool. He also likes making things for people, either by knitting or occasionally whittling.

It's not easy at all for him to make friends. Not only is he painfully shy, he's nonverbal. He has a handful of friends he's collected over the years from work and gay community stuff, but he's not exactly social. He tries, though.

He's a fairly happy guy, just getting on with life. I suppose he'd like some peace and quiet when he's sad, maybe some time alone to knit or crochet.

He's really, really scared of anything happening to his kids, or then being taken away and him not being allowed to foster anymore. He's heard the horror stories and wants his kids to be safe with him. Not just in terms of abusive Foster parents, but he knows neurotypical, non-Saami, hearing and verbal parents just won't understand.

Less so, but he's also scared of large crowds, lots of people talking at the same time, doing new things etc

He can get jealous, but he keeps it to himself and just let's it burn away quietly until he can find an outlet privately. He knows jealousy is a normal emotion, as long as it doesn't affect his behaviour in toxic ways, but he still feels guilty about having human emotions.

📀 How easy is it to shock your OC? To confuse them? To lie to them, to manipulate them? How are they with feelings of trust? Can your OC be trusted?

Again, he knows he's quite trusting, so he has measures to make sure anyone he meets gets approval from his friends before they meet his kids. But sadly he's too trusting and has trouble standing up for himself.

Anything related to kid drama and problems can't shock him anymore, he's seen it all, but being in public can shock and scare him constantly

He represses his emotions so much. Just a blank face on the outside, complete turmoil on the inside.

Well, he's not with his shitty ex, so things are going better. And he's growing sliightly more confident with age. As a teenager and young man he was so, so shy and could barely talk.

He has really bad anxiety, and a lot of fear around relationships that's built into PTSD, but no specific triggers.

Him being very overwhelmed by everything. Lights and colours are too loud and noises physically hurt. He tries to not let it show, but he can't talk and can barely sign. If he can find someone to watch the kids, he'll stay in bed and try to calm down. If not, he'll try to carry on and make things worse.

He's fairly positive, and tries to be rational when he can.

His earliest memory was probably some nature hike or trip with his mums, just letting him run around and look at all the plants and explore. He probably has a lot of the toys his mums made him still around, I doubt he'd ever throw those away.

I don't actually know. I should give him childhood friends. He was shy, but I imagine some chatty kid took him under their wing

As a small child he was pretty wild, long hair no shoes, homemade clothes. If he didn't like a texture or doing something, he didn't have to do it. He was very loved, and his mums would take him to all sorts of places and events for the experience.

As a teen he kept his hair shorter, and was a tall, lanky, anxious, nerdy mess. His mums tried to sit him down and tell him it's okay if he wants to do drugs and have sex as long as he did it in the house. He absolutely Did Not and couldn't look them in the eye for days. Since then he's become a big fan of the latter and tells his kids the same sorta "it's okay as long as you do it in the house".

He's just as comfortable in band shirts, leather trousers and goth makeup, but that doesn't really scream "foster dad" so he doesn't get to wear it much.

He'd probably say his hair, and while others wouldn't disagree, they would say his unwavering kindness.

Yeah he has some sleeve tattoos of wolves and stuff because he's Metal and probably some on his chest but I haven't figured that out yet

Chapter 1

WOW!!!! this took a long-ass time, literally ive been working on it on and off for over a year now, and i have a lot more for it, but i wanted to post this on my biiirthdayyyy!!! Eveyone has to wish me a happy birthday or else im not making the upcoming chapters~

i dont know when im gonna get the rest of it posted, but this comic is the main reason why a couple wittb hiatuses happened lol

I'm gonna work on the next part of this little by little so that my attention is focused on wittb for now. i prob couldve gotten more of this done if i hadn't went on vaca but whhhatevaaa~ (or if i didnt have to work but i dont have control over that) besides, I'm sure if i had used that full time draw it, my hand would be attatched to my wrist with duct tape, a dream and a prayer. Even with what i have now, it look me about 51 hours to complete, crasy.

Most of the time I spent working on this went to figuring out angles of hats, pipes, background, and face angles. Bashing my head against a wall over those.

I'm takin it easy now however! i am bummed that i didn't get to The Goods in this post though.

The KagePro fandom wiki has clearer screenshots than what I can get from the Outer Science MV... I ripped the YouTube videos myself, but comparing the screenshots, they're lighter and clearer than the Original MV posted online...

The only thing that makes sense to me is if the people managing the Wiki (who are also the main scanners/archivers in the KagePro fandom) have access to the Mekakucity V's Blu-ray/DVD that contains the original KagePro Song MVs, and that the Blu-ray (BD) edition has colour corrections applied to it to make certain details easier to see

Like you can actually see the straps on his sleeves, the lines and colours, and the cracked glass texture that's overlayed on the entire MV, much better

The Original MV posted online is already in HD but I imagine it has to be compressed for web upload? It makes me so curious about the Blu-ray cuz the Blu-ray versions would definitely have them in the highest quality possible. Ultra HD.

It's lighter so you can actually see the lines/details better on his clothes (like you can see the lines of the straps on his sleeves) and the details are much clearer

I recently got my hands on Sidu's artbooks and the Mekakucity V's Blu-Ray through secondhand resellings, so I'm SO excited for when it finally arrives <3

I did a quick edit of OP's scans and edited Kuroha's clothes just for fun

I also edited out the note Sidu made that marked the height of Kido's older sister, Rin, who is 165 cm

Takane/Ene = 157 cm (5'1") Haruka, Konoha, and Kuroha/Saeru = 182 cm (6'0")

It was a manual edit I did using CSP's Copy Stamp tool

You can select an area and copy the pattern to do touch ups. It works great.

Depending on the art, Kuroha's either drawn with all black colours that are the same colour, or black outer clothes and a collar, inner shirt, and boots that are a darker black.

I personally prefer the 2nd (with the inner clothes and his collar and boots being darker) cuz it adds more visual contrast to his design, which uses mainly black, gray, and yellow colours.

KagePro Playing Cards: Upscaled Versions (My Edits)

Upon further inspection, I looked at the Kuroha Joker card PFP icons and saw that it must've been from the DMM image preview cuz there was still a bit of the grain/pixelated-ness, just blurred

So I think I know what they did. They upscaled the image so that it gets the image in higher resolution. It blurs the lines subtly, but it reduces noise (smooths out the grain/pixels on the image). It must be the same method that manga scanners use to upscale manga.

Speaking of big money polish- what are your thoughts on exo?

i thought on this question for a while because it's very open ended and honestly i wasn't sure what direction to come at it, because aside from the typical gripes about sm styling fuckups, i like exo a lot. i haven't followed them that closely in the past because they are so omnipresent that i didn't need to, but i like most of their discography and their power concept is silly and cute and they undoubtedly defined what kpop looked like in the mid 2010s.

but! you mentioned in that followup ask about how you still enjoy exo even though blackpink and bts make you uncomfortable, and i think there's a couple reasons for that. firstly is well. exo's music is better. secondly, exo doesn't have that same level of 'big money polish' as bts or blackpink. sm, for lack of any better way to phrase it, doesn't actually care about if their mvs look expensive. they are expensive, obviously, because mvs of this caliber always are, but sm whittles down as cheaply as they can go without totally compromising the quality of the mvs, because they care about profits, not about showing off their wealth. they're a big company that has literally shaped the industry, they don't have anything to prove, but for a company like hybe? their mvs look expensive specifically for the purpose of braggadocio.

here's an example from approximately the same time frame (2016):

blackpink's boombayah mv has at least three custom large studio sets and at least one physical location, all of which have been fairly rigourously set decced and rigged with lights. the video also has some pretty dramatic colour grading and editing.

bts' fire mv has between two and five extensively decorated location shots (i'm fairly certain all the interior shots are done in the same warehouse). there's a large amount of pyrotechnics including both a flaming car AND a flaming stunt performer. the 'exterior' shots are all filmed on a massive custom studio set. there's a significant use of boom crane shots to show just exactly how big the set is.

exo's monster mv has one custom medium sized studio set, some half-sets in a white box, and one location (the airport hanger + tarmac) that has no set dec.

post-2015 sm ironed out a formula for exo mvs that consequently has stuck around for most their group mvs now. they shoot primarly on the same standard lenses, the shots are generally structured the same, the locations are usually outdoors or in a mostly empty studio with very little surrounding decoration, they use a lot of 'texture' shots (small scale shots of specific objects/actions/environments), and they tend towards very simple and naturalistic colour grading/editing. even for some of the more 'experimental' ones like kokobop or even recently, shinee's atlantis, there's still a lot of visual blank space in sm mvs. and sm mvs tend to feel more 'authentic' because of immersion; the locations used feel very realistic because they are real spaces with very little is done to alter them, so although there's a level of surrealism to kpop in general, it's more understandable and easy for our eyes to see a more relatable and familiar location. there's more opportunity for the viewer to focus on the idols themselves rather than be overwhelmed with trying to parse where and what the surroundings are, which is what can happen with mvs filmed on a lot of big custom studio sets. call me baby is just a bunch of guys dancing in a garage, and you know what that is? greased lightning.

that's not to say that all mvs that go more for a more holistic design approach are doomed to look 'unrealistic' or fake. sm has produced some very good ones: married to the music, view, lucky one, power, love me right, most of red velvet's mvs, countless/good evening/i want you, heartbreak, bad love, thank u, maniac, peaches, taeyeon's new mv for can't control myself. but what makes a lot of these mvs more successful than most bts or blackpink mvs is that there's still a kernel of realism and consistency in the design. the thing that will happen with a constructed 'realistic' set is that it will often fall directly into the uncanny valley depending on how it's used, and that doesn't help anything if you aren't on purpose trying to create an actually surrealistic mv. bts mvs are particularly prone to this because in addition to building a lot of their sets, they shoot with a small focal point, really high depth of field, and tend to use low contrast colour grading, which makes the videos look like well posed instagram photos; very constructed and composed, but ultimately flat. versus with sm, where they rarely build a 'realistic' fake set without intending for it to be surrealistic in the first place. see: maniac, countless, bad love, lucky one, can't control myself. if they need to use a real place, they just use a real place. see: heartbreak, married to the music, view, love me right. they're not building whole exteriors of movie theatres and full diner studio sets for a single mv, like hybe did for boy with luv. also a lot of these sm mvs have specific concepts and/or storylines that are directly tied to the design and the design execution. if a comeback doesn't have as developed of a concept, it usually gets the standard treatment, but if there's a strong creative drive (either from the artist or from the creative team they've brought in) there's more cohesion.

i'm sorry this became only tangentally about exo, but i hope this maybe answers some of your questions about why exo doesn't feel the same as the other non-sm groups of its scale.

Honestly making jokes is like my only personality trait so it's hard to remember one 🤔 though I still haven't stopped thinking about the time I said Matsuo's (from mob psycho 100) ghost container has so many stickers it looks like a gay person's laptop.

I dress in alot of wide legged jeans and knitted sweaters/baggy t-shirts. Lots of earth tones. Though when I'm picking out clothes I usually am looking for interesting textures more than anything.

If I'm being honest, I'm not much of a history person. I guess any time before humans existed lmao.

Lily of the valleys are SO pretty and it's always a joy when I come across them. But I also really enjoy the black spruce (do trees count as plants??) because it has a really interesting symbiotic relationship with the entire boreal forest. Fascinating things.

Right now I'm absolutely fascinated with hares. They're so expressive. Though I have to say cats are my favourite. I have three so its only fitting.

I have so many thoughts about this it's not even funny.

- It started out as a hobby - going to museums and sketching out the fossils - but now it's a career?? And holy shit he loves it - He loved dinosaurs when he was little like most kids. Growing up in Santa Fe New Mexico, the Morrison Formation was right there. So yeah that contributed to him he really loving dinos - He has two different art styles, one a more cartoon-y version and the other full-on scientifically accurate - He really only draws in the cartoon-y style when it's just for himself or for a friend - Started out doing commissions to help scrape by and ended up getting pretty popular because wow this guy is good - This man loves drawing sauropods and you can't convince me otherwise - And he also loves drawing smaller dromaeosaurs - Because feathers. Pain in the ass but so much fun - Will still sit for HOURS in museums sketching the fossils and messing around with drawing different speculative colors/body structures/behaviors/etc - Literally cannot call birbs birbs. Only calls them dinosaurs. I swear that's relevant to this and not just a random thing about this AU- - Mostly does tradintional drawing but will sometimes do digital - Technology hates him so he only does digital if it's super special or super important - He has way too many sketchbooks and they're all for different families of dinosaurs

-i'm a firm believer in adhd jack and i'm imagining that dinosaurs were one of his first hyperfixation and he knows just about everything there is to know about them, and he takes that love and knowledge into afulthood

-the scientific art style is his favourite, but he draws more cartoon style dinos for Les and other young kids

-please he would probably do commissions through instagram or tumblr and he just spends hours on them. he puts so much effort into each one making sure it's perfect
