#these are not every instance#but the ones where we catch a glimpse of the words and read them outloud#but really… what makes a letter?#if a letter is just written communication from one person to another… could a letter be a sigil?#a token of good fortune?#the engraved words on a sword?#a man fallen victim to ragaid?— a (non)living declaration of war?#or does it have to spell out#word for word#the meaning#before committing itself to the recipient?#bbc merlin#also#my criteria for what fits the bill as a ‘letter’ here was:#1. it has words on it#2. it serves as a message btwn two (or more) people#(that’s why ragaid camelot’s seal ygraine’s sigil didn’t make the cut)
