I'm not usually a hanahaki person but Thacred Waters was made in a vat for hanahaki
#honestly my main problem with hanahaki is that you need a VERY specific tone to pull it off#and that tone is very hard to achieve esp in prose#i havent read the initial hanahaki manga but it makes sense it was a manga#also the framing of the whole thing is like...#it needs to be internal#it needs to be completely internal in many ways it isnt even about the other person#its about your inability to move on or move forward#about stewing in your own inability to communicate#drowning yourself#otherwise it just doesnt hit right#i personally very much like stories where a character is just#totally In their own feelings#unable to escape themselves#which is why hanahaki as a romance plot rather then hanahaki as character study doesnt appeal to me#(it is obviously always gonna have some kinda romantic air! but like...idk. i want the focus to be on like...)#(idk. im on mobile so i cant see the fill tag and i forgot what i just said as soon as i said it)#(thancred has communication issues and would rather die then ask for help.)#(end essay)
