#i was looking through the at*ez gif tag bc i am hvaing a moment and y'all#their name spellings are a Mess#like we have for example 정우영 and 정윤호 and they spell it jung in the first and jeong in the second and then young is the same vowel again!!#and i Guess it's bc of yun vs woo and they're differentiating jeong yun but what if he was yoonho what IF#i just think the different spelling for jeong/jung within one group is very funny to me personally#idek half the others' names but i'm so glad i can read hangul bc otherwise i would be Lost#....i do find it half annoying half funny when people assume every u in korean romanisation is like.. correctly systematically done#like if it were the current romanisation official thing then he would be jeong wuyeong and that Sucks#so it always pays to check the hangul is what i'm saying#names are quite often not spelled using standardised anything or they use different spellings from different times like choi vs chwe#(tbh i kinda like chwe as a way to write 최 but i Get why it is choi since the vowel is literally ㅗ and ㅣ#and the fact that 외 왜 웨 are practically identically pronounced (weh) and 위 is like wee feels like a linguistic crime)#anyway it's interesting idk i'm probs stopping learning korean this sem bc there isn't distance learning anymore and i cannot afford to mov#wait i had a thought would it be wuyeong or just uyeong bc the second is Cursed
