MacCready: Deacon will try to convince mayor MacCready that he’s just a really tall child. On top of that, he will forever call adult MacCready ‘mungo’ and make up countless different reasons for how he knows that term.

Little Lamplight: “Interesting set-up. I guess they’re pretty safe here from outside threats, except - you know - the gigantic green monsters next door.” (insert sarcasm)

MacCready: “Kid, you have no idea the kind of company I’ve had to deal with all these years. You wanna rile me up? Then stray away from your vanilla boring ass insults ‘cause I ain’t impressed.” 

Hancock:

Little Lamplight: “Huh, cozying up right next to a super mutant den? Either these kids are incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Probably an unhealthy mix of both.” 

MacCready: “So this is the origin story of our favorite mercenary? Hm, I’ll admit, almost as good as mine.” 

Longfellow:

Little Lamplight: Longfellow won’t say anything, but a profound sadness washes over him at the sight in front of him. If somewhere deep down he still had hope for the world, it was now for sure fully taken away.

MacCready: “Youngsters these days…” 

MacCready:

“Ahh the good old times.”

Little Lamplight: “I can’t tell if I’m more impressed by their tenacity, or more disappointed that they need it to survive.” 

MacCready: “Well, behind every hardened mercenary, there is some kind of tragic backstory, isn’t there?” He sighs. “Maybe I’ve been too hard on the kid.”

Little Lamplight: “Oh god… I’ve always known the Wasteland was hard but… these are children. They should be getting raised by two loving parents not living like… this.”

MacCready: Piper’s always known MacCready as a chill mercenary who tries a bit too hard to flirt with her. She’s never paid much attention to him, but seeing him as a child living in these circumstances, she suddenly finds herself looking at him in a completely different light. 

Preston:

Little Lamplight: “This is why we have to bring back the Minutemen! Children deserve to grow up in a safe place, not hiding out in a cave.”

MacCready: “Damn… With how chill he is, you’d never guess he had this kind of childhood. Certainly explains why he’s so good at his job though.” 

Strong:

Little Lamplight: “Not safe for small human! Brother smash small human!” 

MacCready: “Small human talk too much!”

it has been a while since i watched charmed or thought about it. but when i first started writing, at times, i would like to take bits and pieces from things i knew and imbue them into my ocs -- usually my fave characters -- particularly to help me find a voice. i don't really do this with my if/video game ocs bc i don't WRITE them. it is easier [but not simple lmao] to choose their actions bc i have traits in mind and i just pick the best choice that fits those traits/what i want to develop. [backstory you didn't ask for]

If I remember right, it was mainly Piper and parts of Paige [with teensy bits of Prue -- when I wanted to channel Kendis' bossiness/GirlBossTM vibes more].

Parts that of Piper that influenced Kendis:

Of course, the homemaker tendencies. The cooking, the fretting [particularly early seasons Piper], the sharp mind that understood how things were supposed to go.

The worry-wartness, as you saw. Kendis is very much a worry-wart, though they don't act like it. They're very over-protect, nosy, and a lowkey meddler [though they try to be good on the latter]. They both fixate on things and are perfectionists.

I also like how Piper was stuck as the middle between Prue and Phoebe; how she sort of had too ... not make due, but maybe keep things afloat while they're going through their shit. She is both big sister and little sister, especially in the early season. And I think I unconsciously put that in Kendis, because often in either RP or IF, I have Kendis the baby but there's a certain sense of .... desire for control people don't associate with younger sibs that Kendis has bc usually their older sibs are Going Through Shit. and though kendis definitely had a rebel streak, there was also the concern of being a Burden. that might be why she probably reads as an older sib to many who havent rp'd with them.

The yearning for normalacy. I think other than cooking the Biggest Thing Kendis got from Piper is the refusal to answer the call. The 'you're chosen' bs? Nah. 'Chosen' can be sent back to sender. And if it can't they are very okay with making it your [everyone's] problem and complaining about it .......................... but when push come to shove, they will step up.

Snarky and highly sarcastic, powers triggered by emotions [when I give Kendis powers] -- particularly anger ... bc not enough talk about how Piper was Angry lol, can be a jackass and a complainer but also optimistic.

Actually, for Kendis' creation I did pick from the other 'humors' but she tends to lean more choleric, which Piper is entirely.

Thank you for indulging me! This was so interesting to read! The part about being both the big and the little sister, especially. I can see how, if Kendis's older siblings have a rough time, it would lead them to fall more into the role of the older sibling, yeah.

And the cooking and the fretting, ahh, yes, that makes sense! Also the anger! We watched a few episodes a while ago, because my wife had never watched Charmed, and one of them was briefly after Prue's death, and it struck me how much anger Piper has there.

It was cool to read a little about yoru character creation process as well! Honestly, I'm always a bit in awe at how many OCs you have and how well-developed they are (do you have a spreadsheet to keep track of them? Because I know I already forget so many things about my OCs haha)

The Dance happening in the A House Full of Daughters universe is such an interesting take in my opinion. Like B&C happening and killing Elenar as he's the eldest son of Aegon (if we think that Jacaera and Aegon will have 3 children in total like Canon Helaena&Aegon). Jace depressed because her sister is dead (maybe she dies as Luke did in Storm's End) and her son is dead because of stupid ahh Aemond. Like I know you answered some questions about this topic, but I'm just curious what would happen in this AU?

But actually, I have thought a bit about this as part of the backstory for my Goblin kdrama/immortal Targbros fic idea that’s linked somewhere in my masterlist.

When you make a huge change in the story like turning Rhaenyra’s three sons into the Velargirls, it has a massive ripple effect and makes it difficult to keep things the same as in canon. But a scenario where Jace and her kids are the ones who experience B&C could be possible if, for example, Rhaenyra disinherits Jace for eloping with Aegon and Jace ends up living with the Greens in KL henceforth. That sets up Daemon to be willing to arrange B&C several years later, because he’s only known Jace for a few months and isn’t very attached to her.

Aemond, Luce, and Storm’s End is something I have more trouble envisioning as cleaving close to canon, because Aemond and Luce have a very different history in the AU. But I guess Aemond could be angry with her for different reasons, like getting betrothed to a Velaryon cousin, and then things happen and Aemond ends up super depressed for being a reckless idiot. 💀

Don’t worry, Joff and Daeron get to experience pain too! Probably something to do with Joff getting burned at the stake for witchcraft. 🙃

JJK 252 THOUGHTS

First thing I noticed was the art style on a number of pages. Last time this happened was when Maki fought the Zenin Clan and at the time I thought it was a stylistic choice. However, it was most likely due to Gege not having enough time illustrating all of it. Although I’d say this unintentional style is unironically too perfect given the chaos that is happening in Shinjuku.

Turns out Yuta didn’t actually get cooked. Still sustained heavy injuries, but was capable of letting out a signal for Maki to strike Sukuna from behind. And the fact has not disappeared suggests Yuta is still alive.

Ui Ui is working a 9-5 with every new casualty. Hopefully they could rejoin the battle later on.

Side note: Saw some “revival” theories yet again. Of all people who’ll most likely return to battle, I cannot see Gojo being one of them. As great as it would be, there’s no shot given the kind of sendoff he got. From a narrative perspective, it’s closer to wishful thinking.

Great to see that Soul Split Katana is lethal, making it harder for Sukuna to RCT his way out of this. A couple more direct hits and we’ll see heavy damages, perhaps even similar to what Yuji and Yuta were able to do within the domain.

Yuji is taking it rough 😭 Overexertion + relative novice to RCT healing doesn’t sound like a good mix at all. Also Choso’s alive??!! Turns out survived Sukuna’s piercing attack from many chapters ago!

Maki is holding up well against Sukuna. Way better than I thought, but I should expect no less from a fully realized Maki. Flipped his ass on his head. Ahh, great to see ☺️

Sukuna recognizes that Maki isn’t no bore of a sorcerer as she can see his technique better than the others. I’m curious to how this plays out and what more damages she’ll be able to inflict onto him.

She landed a direct hit through the heart and he’s not going down………….smh. The guy is just way too persistent.

POV SWITCH. Doesn’t seem like Gege is putting too much focus on Hakari vs Uraume. Just for the vicariously glazing Sukuna through Uraume. I’m maybe slightly interested as to how they’ll fair against Hakari’s barrage of attacks.

Like, what do you mean by “still not using his full power” ? What more could there be besides black box / Fuga? Sukuna’s backstory is still unknown and with every new ability under his sleeve, I begin to wonder how he attained it.

Realistically, how do they expect to win? It seems like most of Jujutsu High’s cards has been shown and they’re only running out of surprises. Hopefully they’ll be able to come out with something new to counter the King of Curses. From how It appears Sukuna has one more thing in store.

What if Luka expects Hyuna to come like she did in his round with Mizi and he is plotting something.He has the trust of aliens,the love of the public and no one would suspect him to do something outside the box,far from the image he created of himself.Hyuna made her appearence in round 5 when we didn't expected it. If the round isn't entirely dedicated to Ivan and Till,this may be an option.He may confront Mizi and Hyuna,they may not be able to rescue Ivan and Till and not make it in time. Luka may not appear at all.

Oohh. Luka appearing in ROUND 6 would honestly be insane. I thought about him making an appearance in the short teaser scene before credits, but if he actually confronted anyone himself that would be so interesting. Imagine all 6 of them in the same episode... the same room... no way... the Alien Stage would be real...

Luka attempting to sabotage Mizi and Hyuna is such an intriguing concept. I do think he's figured out that Hyuna will be returning, he grew up with her, after all. He's most likely aware of her penchant for protecting people. He probably expects Mizi to come back for the only friends she has left, too. He couldn't do anything the first time he saw Hyuna after ROUND 5, but he might be more eager to get his hands on her now. If we get our first adult Hyuna and Luka interaction during ROUND 6 I'd actually go insane. as much as I hope for it though, I'm not sure whether or not it will actually happen. ROUND 6 already has a lot going for it. A final confession of love already makes for a heavy episode, but with Till's newly revealed backstory added to the mix? Mizi and Hyuna's attempt at a jailbreak? The whole video would probably need an entire week to be processed and even comprehended, especially if they want to go into extensive detail on each aspect. Still, though, if Luka interfered... if Mizi and Hyuna were unable to save anyone and had to defeatedly return to the rebellion base carrying the weight of their failure, well, I DON'T THINK I'D BE REACHABLE FOR AT LEAST 10 BUSINESS DAYS I'd have to go into hiding in order to cope with that. But who knows! The fun part about VIVINOS videos is that they're always gonna leave you fucked up in one way or another!

day 6: past

back to casper. casper did not have a great childhood. in what little time ey spent with eir half-sister at her dads house, ey were often brushed off or called annoying any time ey weren't being almost ignored. it wasn't all bad, but it led to a lot of pain and angst down the line. they've both repaired their relationship now, but it took a lot to get there. bonus pic i did last year, long ramble about the two's past under the cut if that interests you :)

ahh AHHH sam and casper drive me CRAZY okay so. like i said it wasnt ALL bad casper and sam got along..fine..sometimes, casper especially liked sams at-the-time (and current but shh) high school sweetheart and thought he was cool :) BUT ANYWAYS

we have some aus where they're on better terms and its sweet but at the same time it can never be. perfect and ideal. bc casper's entire existence upset sam's life. when sam was like 3, their mom had an affair with some random dude and decided to keep the baby (casper) and split from her husband because of that. and for some FUCKING reason sam's mom+dad decide to keep this knowledge hidden from her because.. why? plot i guess.

sam still sees her mom and is on good terms with her until her dad comes clean about sam having a whole secret half-sibling. and it rocks her world in the way finding that out when you're 14 and mentally ill would upset you. and for a long time she takes it out on casper, really unfairly, because casper is overjoyed to have a big sister and loves going to her house (especially cause eir mom is uh.. not really doing great raising em).

sam (she/they btw) isn't a bad person by any means but like. being that young and finding that out your family has a secret really unpleasant side hidden from you for no reason would really really upset you. they were not a good sister to casper and by the time casper is like, 15, ey give up on trying to integrate into sam's side of the family and just. finishes high school and gets out of eir mom's house as fast as possible and begins trying to ghost hunt """professionally.""" sam has whole adventures too but they're not the focus rn hush

yea their relationship is better now but this is day PAST not day PRESENT/FUTURE. i could have done sam&casper for the relationship day but ehhh i wanted to draw the madoka meme with them LOL

to start with will. (in this au uses they/them) they are pretty similar to the oneshot except i made up backstory stuff because i can!! part of it is that they cant feel any pain and never have been able to, so theyve always been fascinated by the power pain has over people and what it can make them do, especially given they dont really know what it feels like. their backstory is similar to normal william wisp except theyre more power hungry and start to use their abilities to take the power from the creatures they and the unwitness protection program find. theyre ... not exactly chill w that and the group breaks up. will starts to withdraw themself more and more and listen to the voices in their head telling them they should totally just kill everyone and eventually theyre like "wow yeah i should kill everyone!!" so one day during church they use their powers we saw in the one shot which lets them make everyone have an insatiatble bloodlust and basically cause a slaughter and they run off. given they didnt exactly hide it very well theyre arrested when they arrive at rockfall and taken to the supermax

tldr: wills obsession with pain and power goes A Tad Bit Too Far and they end up in jail.

as for kota (she/her in this au) she has always been a bit feral. ill try and make this explanation shorter but basically every adult that shouldve taken care of her died and she took that as a sign that she just wasnt good enough for them, that they didnt want her. she went into the care system and saw kids who had powers always being chosen over her. she even begged ms g (who she later came to sort of blame for her parents death) to take her in and train her but ms g didnt take her seriously becuase she was only a kid with no powers and rejected her. in a kind way, but it still stung. due to this kota began to grow to hate superheroes and just the world in general, viewing herself as an outcast to the world. being about 8 years old she decided the logical thing to do is run away to the woods to be raised by wolves. however instead of wolves shes found by grandma cole (who is more evil in this au) and trains under her and master cole. being an edgy kid she calls him master kill which is where her name comes from. they treat her terribly but tell her that she needs them and they love her and noone will treat her better. when shes 18 grandma cole falls seriously ill and while kota is out getting firewood she dies. except not from the illness...(oo mystery mystery intrigue intrigue) kota runs to the nearby rockfall city and totally pushes that girl off that building on purpose. however when theyre found ppl still assume kota was trying to save her and she undergoes the same surgery. however the surgeon is also evil because everyone must be and also puts a whole demon in her as well as the heart. anyway she wakes up kills everyone leaves gets arrested and taken to Rockfall supermax.

(i said id make this one shorter but wow it really wasnt huh)

as for virion, (any prns in this au) hes the closest to canon. he alsp falls thru the portal and gets ppl in her head exvept this time doesn't just kill a theif but also a bunch of cops too and is taken to the supermax! wow that one was short and sweet

ashe (she/her) hates how powerless her upbringing has made her. she resents the world from afar and the only time shes entertained is when awful shit happens. the only time she has ever felt in control of her own life is when the trickster took her over and totally killed her mum! ironic because she wasnt even the 1 in control there lol. she loves the power the trickster gives her and begins to study it more and more. im sure that wont go badly.

when theyre in the supermax (ashe is the only one not there) they all become a sort of gang and meet tide, and they work together to escape. this is where ghostkicks starts except kota is too thick to realize she has some sort of feelings for them and william is scared of the potential feelings and pushes them down. kota basically becomes williams guard dog lol. kota doesnt like virion cuz she feels hes taking will away from her. after they escape they start to work under the lambert brothers (who are also all evil here) and also with ashe. they call themselves the "prime offenders" lol. they burn down the base of the prime defenders (who in this au is doug, cantrip and le frog) to try and capture wavelength

as for ghostknife, their dynamic is similar to in canon except william is somehow more weird about it. idk how better to explain it

pizzarat (virion and kota) is one sided (at first, anyway) because virions falls for kota after she beats him in physical combat which i feel is a very virion thing to do. kota continues to dislike them but xey keep trying to show how devoted they are to her and eventually kota starts to trust her more

- Thank you for finally giving Acheron’s full backstory to us. I feel so bad for her. I went to give her all the hugs. Please visit the Express. You deserve all the happiness babe

-I do like Firefly as a character don’t get me wrong but I’m not a huge fan of them pushing this faux ship between her and the trailblazer. Like it feels forced. I feel like we got attached to her way too quickly in 2.0 and now we’re acting like we’re basically dating. There was even the bridal carry! I think I would like it better if it had more gradual development. I think it has potential, it just needs to happen more organically.

-WHY DID YOU SKIP THE SCENE WITH AVENTURINE AND BOOTHILL STANDOFF AT THE END OF 2.2??? Like how did they reach an agreement? Since when did the marketing dept have beef with the SID? Did everyone know this and that’s why Boothill approaches Aventurine in the first place? WHY DIDN’T YOU SHOW US THEIR CONVO HOYO??? You did both my boys so dirty this patch. They’d better give them an epic buddy cop showdown against Oswaldo in a companion mission or the interlude. Also: show us Boothill’s backstory in game so I can properly sob like a baby and we give him a proper character arc. Also also: make Nihility = depression so we can finally have the Aventurine depression arc we deserve and maybe get that boy some happiness and will to live at some point.

-Speaking of the IPC: wtf is up with Jade??? Topaz looked gay AF when she first showed up, and Jade kept infantilizing her, calling her “little Jelena” and such. And when she went to more harsher “negotiations” with the family she ended up being more manipulative and cutthroat like we saw when she first met Aventurine. She’s clearly manipulative and I think she groomed Topaz and acts like a different person around her. That would also explain Topaz’s brainwashing that the IPC is great and all. God I hate them so much. LET BOOTHILL SHUT THEM DOWN I’M BEGGING YOU 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 🙏🏾

-Speaking of the family, WHERE WAS MY BOY SUNDAY??? We know he’s on trial but he only shows up at the end, and Jade is just like, “explore different paths.” So like what is the future for Sunday now? Are they just letting him go? What’s going to happen to him? And why didn’t we get to properly explore Robin’s grief over her brother’s actions and subsequent imprisonment? Again WE WERE ROBBED

-Ngl I started crying like a baby inside when the Express said their goodbyes to the Nameless. That story makes me so sad 😭 and March’s question about morality AHH I LOVE THE EXPRESS CREW FOUND FAMILY SO MUCH

-And going off of that, I love how the Stellaron Hunters are like found family. It’s so sweet, like how Firefly told Jade Silver Wolf would fuck the IPC up if they messed with her. We love our criminal found family in this house (also love how Kafka asked Firefly to buy her some stuff.)

-Why the fuck did Elio hire Sparkle? I don’t understand that. I don’t understand the point of her or any of the masked fools tbh. Sometimes I imagine Elio is just writing things in the script for shits and giggles and it kinda makes me laugh but also scratch my head 😂

I think that’s all for now but I reserve the right to add to this. I did enjoy 2.3 overall, but they left way too many loose ends imo (and I wanted more fan service for my faves, ngl). I do hope they resolve them in the interlude and/or companion missions. Penacony has sooo many interesting storylines that it would be a shame if they didn’t wrap them all up.

Where did your inspo for her character come from? Does she represent anything about yourself?

I really love your fic. I think it’s an interesting approach to Arthur’s character to explore the parental guilt he has for what happened to Eliza and Isaac. And I love the way you do that by introducing a character that’s pretty much a mirror of himself, but under different circumstances. And she has broken the cycle already. Her backstory literally gave me chills when I read it. You have a great way of adding so much detail in such a short amount of words! I really look forward to each chapter :)))

I’m so ready to dive into the Kate McCanon lore, I’m sorry if I get carried away:

I can’t really take any credit for her name. It’s from a Colter Wall song called “Kate McCanon”, but her character is nothing like the woman he’s singing about. I just really loved the name tbh. (And I’m a big fan of his music)

As far as my inspo for her character traits, they kinda just developed over time. I began forming ideas of her as I played rdr2 for the first time, at first I kinda pictured myself in the time period and how I would respond/react to certain events. Then as the story progressed I was like hm, I would definitely be dead by now if this was me. So i made someone stronger but also kept certain aspects like her humor, sarcasm, honesty, intelligence and kindness that I think are sorta reflection of myself.

In a nutshell, the Kate we see with Arthur and the gang is a free spirited tomboy who fully embraces the freedom and possibilities of life in the west and she also defies the gender stereotypes of that time period.

However, the lack of description of Kates appearance was entirely on purpose. I dropped little snippets of her looks at the beginning such as her height and size. (She’s a big woman) But tbh i didn’t want the focus of the story to be on what she looked like or what she was wearing. I purposely mentioned she is half Italian on her mothers side, (bc that will come up again later in the story for the plot) but I also wanted you guys to picture her however you felt was right. In my mind, she is a woman who appears intimidating but once you get to know her she’s a total sweetheart (much like Arthur hehe)

One of the reasons why I choose to keep Kate out of most missions is because she genuinely wants to be done with hurting people. She gave that life up and vowed to do better. Only when she’s pushed and survival is at stake do we see her break that promise. It’s almost ironic considering she is with a gang of outlaws, but like the girls, and Arthur too, she sees them as just people trying to get by. When she meets Jack and Abigail she sees a future dangling on a thread, and decides that if there’s something good she can do here. Then it’s going to be helping that family escape this life. Falling in love with Arthur just happens to be a bonus ;)

I had always intended to give Kate a traumatic backstory (sorry girlie). It started with her family, I wrote out an entire detailed timeline of her life. With names and dates and even random life events that will never make it in the story. But it helped me so much with building her background. It made her feel more real to me. I did so much research on the time period and what Boston was like in the 1800s. Even though I didn’t go into grave detail about her childhood or the death of her family members. But by doing so, it made it easier for me to write about that hopelessness and vulnerability she felt when she finally lost everything.

I chose to open the story with her burying her husband and child because (spoiler alert, but not really if you’ve been actively reading) that is the tie that links her soul with Arthur’s. Even though she does not blame herself for their deaths, it’s something that is engraved into the very being of her identity. And it pretty much dictates the person she becomes throughout the story.

When Kate is captured and taken to a military fort, that is where her “rock bottom” hits its “peak” so to speak. She has nothing left to lose at this point but herself. And in a way, she does lose herself. River is a character I hold very dear to me. And i might write a small spin off about him and Kate in the future. He was a reflection of what Kate would have become if she did not make a change. At first, he was her hope. But when his family met the same fate as hers, he became consumed by the darkness and rage. And unfortunately, she was in a state where Rivers anger nurtured her own. (I want to make it clear River is not a villain, he’s a victim)

I do kinda regret not exploring their relationship more in the chapter. But tbh it probably wouldn’t have added anything. However, I will say the two of them pretty much trauma bonded. They loved each other deeply, but not really in a romantic sense. River offered to marry her, but it was more out of “you are the only one i have left” kind of way. He was never going to give up that life and settle down again, getting married to Kate would just be a way to seal their relationship and vow to stand by each other till the very end. (Does this kinda mirror Arthur/Mary? That might be a reach idk)

All in all, I wanted to give Arthur someone who already understands him, but doesn’t know it yet. Someone that he doesn’t need to explain himself to because Kate has already been there. Arthur knows he’s a bad man, and he knows Kate has been a bad woman. He believes he is beyond saving, beyond redemption. But Kate sees someone who can be saved, he just need the support to do it.

I’ve been trying to plant the seeds over time that Kate truly misses being a mother, and feels robbed of the life she should be living. Raising her daughter. Jacks character has helped me manifest that in the story a lot. Especially that first kiss scene. Kate longs for a family. But she’s pretty much convinced herself that she will never have one again. So by helping the Marstons it alleviates some of that yearning. Arthur believes he has failed as a father, but what Kate sees is the potential for him to be a very loving parent. And it makes her head dizzy with adoration. (There will be many more tender moments with Jack/Arthur/Kate in the future btw)

I hope you guys don’t think my Arthur is too out-of-character. In the game, his son really isn’t mentioned a whole lot, and we know the reason he gives John such a hard time is because he doesn’t want to see him make the same mistakes. But I honestly believe Arthur would have made a wonderful father. The motivation behind this whole fanfic is really just exploring grief and parenthood. Which is ironic because i don’t have children lmao.

TLDR: Kate McCanon domesticates the wild outlaw known as Arthur Morgan 😂

I can’t believe I rambled so much on this. I hope I didn’t overwhelm you. But I guess it just goes to show how much I appreciate your question, and the fact that you’ve taken time out of your day to read my story.

Cal Lucia plays Fire Emblem Path of Radiance: Chapter 9

Hah, so there's yet another gameplay mechanic that is being turned into an in-universe thing with the statistics. I think that's the most I've ever seen a game in the series does this. . . I like it. It's always nice when games do this sort of thing

Got Ike and Soren's C support unlocked! And hah, Soren even notices little tells with Ike like his left eye twitching when he's tired. And Ike calling him a softie, too. . . no wonder people ship them.

Got Titania's and Rhys' support as well. I like the little backstory there, which involves Shinon and Gatrie, too

Something I still don't get with these "info" things (not even sure if they're called that in English) is why they have a star ranking, but I guess I'll figure that out eventually (and this has since been resolved since someone just told me)

Have to say though, I really like the mechanic overall! Reminds me a bit of the things that each character has to say in the monastery exploration phase of Three Houses, in the sense that I take that those are time-specific interactions that have various characters weigh in on things that just happened. Except that unlike Three Houses, you don't have to run all over the place to talk to people, and that they're actual conversations, and not actual characters bouncing off of a mute protagonist. (. . .I say that, but I should still point out that I did like Three Houses, even if it has its shortcomings)

Ike was in Gallia before. Probably as a kid, I guess?

And a nother battle. It's almost like this is a strategy RPG!

Lethe continues to be a hater. Perfectly valid mind you, but I hope that when inevitably she changes her mind, it is well-handled and doesn't feel like it came out of nowhere

Mist and Rolf finally join! I know this isn't really anything I can convey here, but I love Boyd's dialogue during that whole interaction. It's funny. Anyway, I did wonder when the two were finally gonna join, so good to see that that's finally here

Ahh, Laguz tutorials! And. . . huh. I hope they're worth from a gameplay perspective

Took some maneuvering of Lethe and Mordecai, but I did manage to stop the initial pirate, and then managed to get to both houses with Marcia. That got me two turns over the maximum bonus exp that I could have gotten, but it's better than nothing

Huff, Soren really is suggesting that they join Daein in case a war breaks out that involves Gallia. Seems to me like this guy has some baggage that will need exploring.

Another CG illustration! These are all very pretty.

Caineghis. . . goodness, now there's a beefy guy. Reminds me a bit of Hyrule Warriors Ganondorf, if only for his mass and hairstyle. And judging by his role and design, I'm getting the feeling that he's either gonna be killed off at some point, or he'll become playable. One or the other.

Giffca. That's definitely a way to introduce a character - "Oh yeah he's here but don't mind him".

Ohh, more juicy backstory! Ike and Mist were born in Gallia, their mother was killed, Greil had a secret that he didn't tell anyone, even here. . . interesting stuff!

Ah, and Elincia's not getting any Gallian troops for support. Gotta keep the protagonist side the underdogs, after all.

A sea trip to Begnion is next? Sounds like ship maps. Let's just hope it's not gonna be as many as in Gaiden/Shadows of Valentia.

Rhythmtober Day 31 prompt - Free Space

Well here's the rest of the vocaloid squad! Featuring Ann as Len, Kouhai as Kaito, Senpai as Meiko, Pitcher as Rin, and Reporter as Miku!!

Oh yeah the backstory if you guys want it

“You want US to dress up for Halloween?”

Our usual gang of 4 were in a booth in the cafe, looking at Reporter’s laptop. She had just brought up a rather… interesting proposal to them. 

“Yup! We basically did ALLLL the typical friend group activities, except for dressing up for Halloween for some reason!”

“And you want us to dress up as these… anime things?” Kouhai confusingly looked at the screen.

“I think that’s called cosplay, and I don’t want to partake in something as cringe as that ever.” Pitcher huffed. 

“Well, it’s not really cosplay if you aren’t dressing up to go to a con or something.” Reporter switched to the next slide, showing those 6 “anime things” again, but in different poses. “Plus, they’re not even from an anime! They’re called vocaloids and they’re more like different voices that people use to sing their songs.”

Senpai sat there silently, head presumably full of thoughts. Meanwhile, Pitcher was messing around with the laptop. “I mean, I recognize this girl,” she moved the cursor in circles around the girl with the light blue twintails. “But who the fuck is this???” She moved the cursor around another girl with short blonde hair.

“That’s Rin, and I think you’ll really fit her!” Reporter replied gleefully. 

“Her goofy 10 year old lookin ahh???”

“Yeah! You guys have a similar hairstyle and a snappy, go-getter attitude!”

“Does this also have to do with how similar in height they are?” Senpai finally quipped. 

“YOU- SH-SHUT IT!!” 

“Oh, maybe that’s why I also thought of Pitcher when I saw her.” Kouhai added, much to Pitcher’s chagrin. This made him laugh a bit as Pitcher made a fist towards him.

Senpai herself giggled, then pointed to another character. “What about her?” She hovered the cursor over to a girl in red with short brown hair.

“Oh, that’s Meiko. She’s the mom of the group and has a really cool voice!”

“Hmm…” Senpai put her hand up to her chin. “I can see her being really easy going and down to hang out just about any time. She looks like she would give really good advice too- Why is everyone staring at me?”

Everyone then turned to look at each other, slowly nodding. The nodding got faster, and eventually culminated into a slew of “Ayyy’s” and “yeah’s” from the other three. 

“I guess this makes me Meiko then.” She smiled softly. 

“Then that makes Kouhai Kaito!” Reporter pointed to the blue haired man so everyone knew who she was talking about. 

“Wait, why? He doesn’t really look like me…” “Cause you’re our boy!” Pitcher playfully pinched him on the cheek. 

“W-Wait! There’s another boy there too! I-I think…? I mean, I heard of anime people’s genders being really hard to tell, so…” 

“Yeah, Len’s also a guy. But I think Kaito suits you better! He’s a pretty carefree dude!”

“W-Well, if you say so. You know, you’re pretty good at assigning people anime characters to dress up as, Reporter.” 

Reporter chuckled a bit. “Awww, really? I just go off vibes to be honest.”

“Hmmm… Then who are you going to dress up as?” Senpai asked.

Reporter winked and copied the pose that the blue haired girl was making. “I’m gonna be Miku! I already got a costume of her at home!”

The gang went silent for a second, and everyone’s eyes eventually went over to Pitcher, who was looking out the window, trying to look like she didn’t care. 

“What.” She stated adamantly when she noticed everyone looking.

“Everyone else already chose their outfits, Pitcher. Who are you gonna be?” 

Pitcher was slightly taken aback by this but not surprised Senpai asked that. Her hand waved down as she said, “Nah, you guys got this. I don’t wanna be…” Her eyes drifted over to Reporter and Kouhai, whose eyes resembled those of a certain creature that went “Yippee!”. “Well… fine then. I’m NOT wearing the bow though. That just looks stupid.”

“Yay!” Reporter lifted her hands in the air. “Yay!” Kouhai mimicked her as Barista came over with his sandwich. Barista then proceeded to throw his hands in the air as well. 

“Hold on.” Pitcher leaned over closer to the laptop. “There’s only 4 of us and there’s 6 of them. Who’s gonna be the pink lady and this kid right here?”

“Oh, you’re right!” Reporter clapped her hands together. “We can’t have a Rin without a Len!”

“I’ll be your Len, Pitcher.” Ann Glerr leaned it’s head across the separator from the booth behind them. 

“GAH-” This caused Pitcher to jump back into Reporter’s arms. “Bro, did ya just listen to our conversation this whole time?!” 

“Well, yeah.” She popped another fry into her mouth and continued. “Anyways, can I join you guys?”

“S-Sure…” Kouhai looked at the rest of the group to see if they would let it join. 

“I don’t see why not.”

“Of course!”

“Why are you my Len… But if everyone else says ok, then sure.”

Reporter pumped her fists in the air again, excited that her idea was going to work.

"Now all we need is a Luka!"

Today was quite hectic. This year, I indulged in some childhood dreams of mine and dressed up as one of my inspirations, Megurine Luka. I thought this day would be like usual, going out and taking pictures, but I happened to spot them.

They happened to have the same idea as me and dressed up as the rest of the vocaloids. My instincts kicked in and I quickly went to a spot where they couldn't see me. I noticed that Ann was holding a bucket of candy, meaning that they were going to parade around the neighborhood.

My mind went to making plans on how to avoid them. Don't want them accusing me of copying them, of course.

As I avoided them, I couldn't help but feel a little twinge in my heart telling me to join them. Of course I didn't, I had a reputation to uphold, as you know. But it's weird...

If I went up to them, what would've they said?

Soo I hope you're ready for this, because it's gonna be a doozy. I have so many emotions over this story, I cannot tell you. Thank you so much for writing Trouvaille, I feel like it's been something I've been missing all my life. From the very first chapter, you've been able to create a world where anything and everything is possible with our favourite boys. My heart cannot handle it.   I do have a few questions though. Let's go by each member. 

For Joonie: how could you do this to me? This is my favourite depiction of Namjoon. Especially wolfie Namjoon. Everything is right, it just fits.  From the attitude, how he was trying to flex on everyone from the first day, to him loving sweets and being a complete bookworm, it's all so good. I can definitely see this version of Namjoon living in a trailer in the middle of a national park and being obsessed with Bigfoot lol. I also enjoyed how you were able to show how he can be uncomfortable with his emotions. After the incident, when he was trying to apologize to Y/N and he seemed lost and awkward, I really felt that. He's been a lone wolf for so long, it's really not surprising he may be a tad bit emotionally constipated. I definitely know the feeling lol. 

Taehyung: I can't. I cannot with this version of Tae. I love how he is, and his backstory. It's so interesting! How did you come up with it? I've read quite a few hybrid stories, and I can honestly say I've never read a backstory like his before. Poor Tae Bear. I just want to wrap him up in a blanket and cuddle him. He is too good for this world. I love how he was so quick to warm up to Y/N, it's so cute. How he came running when he heard her scream from her bathroom, and went all inspector mode to see if anyone was in there attempting any harm. Ahh.. my heart.

Seokjin: What a backstory for Jin. I was at the edge of my seat reading the last chapter. Why am I not surprised his previous owners would dump him at a shelter when they have no more use for him. He put his heart and soul into performing, and they just discarded him like he was nothing. I would definitely have a few choice words for them, I'd start throwing hands. >:(  The last chapter was amazing. How he felt safe enough to tell Y/N his backstory, his fears, and talk about Hannah. Please tell me we will get a chance to meet Hannah. Please tell me she didn't perish in the accident. Pretty please 

Yoongi: My favourite relationship in this story so far is between Y/N and Yoongi. From the very beginning, it's like they had an understanding. They definitely knew each other in another life, I love how you added that to the story! How he looks after her, doesn't mind cooking and even lets her get away with all that she does, she has him wrapped around her little finger. And he lets her!! Yes. Yes to everything.  I love how protective he is over her- I almost combusted reading the drabble for my boys - yes Yoongi, feel jealous and overprotective of your girl! He gave her the biggest cinnamon roll with the most icing... I squealed. Also, that scenting scene was hot. I hope they have more scenes together in the future.

Hoseok: Ahh Hobi.. the sunshine of the group. Yes to being a cheeky boy. It's like he's been on Y/N's side from the very beginning. He is the one that I've been wondering about the most in this story. Is he going to be able to get over his fear of wolves? Is he ever going to get Y/N to do yoga with him? Are we ever going to meet Keaon, and if so, will a certain foxy be jealous?  So many questions! Also, in the last chapter, when he was whistling his tune and she asked him about it, was that a sort of mating call? I tried looking it up, but I didn't get anywhere with it lol.

Jimin: Ahh Jiminie.. yes. His whole aesthetic - hair slicked back, jean wearing cowboy with the Clark Kent hairstyle. Yes. It's kind of embarrassing how many times I went back to read the chapter where everyone got their hair cut. Out of all the cuts, this one is top notch. I must admit, I did not expect Jimin's backstory in this. Are we going to find out more about why he left home? Does it have anything to do with his family? He has a sister, are we going to meet her as well? Will she like Y/N? So many questions!! 

Jeongguk: Last but cerainly not least, Kookie. My spooky gothic angel. I love his aesthetic in this as well. When you said you were going for a Constantine vibe with him.. I can assure you, you did it. Very very well lol. His attitude with the other guys and with Y/N has me feeling a certain type of way. Poor guy seems like he's been through quite a bit. But I like how he's had his troubles and tribulations with everyone, and he's slowly opening up. His birthday chapter was so cute, he seemed so distrusting of Y/N at the beginning, but he came through at the end. Can we get a drabble of the party as well? I'd love to see how he felt.  Anyways, this post is too long so this is the end of it lol. I cannot wait for October 7th. It cannot come fast enough. Thank you for all you do Dana! 

Hi hello how are you my love!!! 🥰 Thank you so so much for sending me in this lovely feedback! I hope you don't mind a late response, I wanted to answer each of your questions to the best of my ability since you have sent me so much love. Thank you for loving and supporting Trouvaille so much, I'm so grateful and happy that I get to share the story and these boys with you! You're too kind, and I really appreciate you and your love! So I, too, will go member by member for you as well;

Joon: HEHE AHHH It makes me super happy and excited that you love this version of Joonie!! He is my main bias in BTS (I'm hyung line biased, I wonder if it's obvious...) But I loved giving him a little attitude and edge. I feel like it fits his Virgo energy, as well as going hand in hand with being a wolf hybrid. Still though, him being bookish and very into eating sweets are some qualities IRL Namjoon has, and I definitely wanted to keep some of their real personality traits in this story as well. I love Namjoon's past in Trouvaille, it will be revealed piece by piece as the story goes on since he's pretty private (and we'll see even more of it in the eventual release of his prequel!) Namjoon is based loosely off of Fox Mulder from the X-Files, so that's where the Bigfoot/cryptid/paranormal interest comes from. Namjoon has a "lone wolf" complex that we'll see him struggle with throughout the plot, so a lot of human emotions are difficult for him to process and express. I love the term you used-- "emotionally constipated" 💀, that's TOTALLY what he is... I doubt he has ever had to apologize to someone like that. It was definitely new to him!

Taehyung: Kodiak Tae is my baby, my boyfriend... He's a sweet boy!! I'm glad that you like his backstory and find it interesting. It was kind of a risk to incorporate something like a murder within a backstory of one of the boys, but I think that it's added some interest and mystery to his character-- he's not all rainbows and sunshine, he's got darker origins. Most of the boys I have based off of characters from my favorite books/films/shows. As for Tae, I based his backstory off of the TV show Twin Peaks, and a slew of characters from that show, primarily Josie Packard, Big Ed and Audrey Horne. There is a large part of that show that takes place in a logging plant (that's where Tae was working prior to his adoption), so that's where that part of his backstory came from. Other than that, I wanted him to have a sort of Seattle grunge rock vibe, and some skeletons in his closet to counteract his shy and sweet nature. He is such a love though, he really warmed up to Y/N and her personality. And that scene where he ran into the bathroom... he was checking for intruders, ready to beat them up if they dared to break into Y/N's bathroom!! 👹

Seokjin: I love a good dark circus aesthetic! I think that it fits Seokjin in Trouvaille well. He has that pretty face, athletic build, and such a stage presence. It is horrible that in the Trouvaille universe, many companies and people discard hybrids once deemed "damaged" or "useless". Seokjin likely put his all into performing, and was easily damaged-- no wonder he, too, is clingy like Tae. Y/N, like you, is ready to burn the whole circus down for him!!! I'm so happy you liked the last chapter and the focus on some of Seokjin's backstory. It was really fun to finally reveal some of his past to the readers. He definitely feels safe with Y/N, especially because she treats him so gently and doesn't have outrageous expectations for him. As for Hannah- we'll find out a little more about her in the next chapter, and in the future as well! She will definitely be touched upon again, so don't worry! 😉

Yoongi: I could cry!!! 🥺 Yoongi and Y/N's relationship is my favorite so far, as well. I love nothing more than Yoongi's gentle, doting, and selfless personality, and it totally reflects in his character in Trouvaille. The two of them have this almost unspoken connection, and it is very mysterious. I am such a fan of past-life lover stories, so I had to incorporate it at least a little bit in Trouvaille. I classify Yoongi as a househusband in this story, which is a dream of many. Whether Y/N knows it or not, she has Yoongi eating out of the palm of her hand (she's too enamored with him to notice). His love language seems to be acts of service. Anything he can do to make her life easier, he does-- and he definitely gets affection in return. Their piano lessons together... UGH! I'm so jealous, I want that relationship LOL. He is certainly one of the more possessive and jealous ones (Joon and Tae, too) but it's almost like he wants to steal her away for himself! He indulges her so much.. the cinnamon roll AH all she had to do was flirt with him a little! And his scenting scene was my FAVORITE too, so I'm happy you liked it as well. There is certainly more of that coming.

Hoseok: Hobi is just so! I love him so so much. Like Y/N, foxes are my favorite animal. I think the cleverness and quickness of a fox fits Hoseok's personality and vibe well. He is one of the hybrids more shrouded in mystery, and has a tough time opening up, perhaps because he had been waiting so long to be adopted and many of his previous adoptions had fell through. He and Y/N have like a bestie connection, and she feels totally at ease with him. Often, he's the one to break up tension, and he is most similar to Y/N, personality wise (extroverted, optimistic). Y/N is going to try her best to help him get over his wolf phobia, but he likely has a long road ahead of him to sort that out-- I don't see him becoming super chummy with Namjoon right away. Keon may make a comeback in the future, I'm excited that you remembered him! I think not only will Hoseok be jealous, but the rest of them as well... A hybrid from her past? Drama! The whistle: like the others, Hoseok is based off of a film character, his being Mr. Fox from Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox. In the film, Mr. Fox has a "signature" or "trademark" whistle/click noise he makes, and that is what Hoseok does.

Jimin: Hnnnnggg I adore blonde Jimin, it's one of his best looks. I have such a clear image in my mind of his really classic looking haircut (suitable for a cowboy, LOL) with the piece of hair in his face... woof. I loved the haircut chapter, it was self indulgent and gave me the opportunity to give them all my favorite looks on them LMAO. His backstory is one of the more "out there" ones, but it's different than the others and I hope you'll find it interesting when we hear more about it in the future! We'll find out why he wanted to leave home, especially when it seems like it is one of the more comfortable ways for a hybrid to live. I will say, it has more to do with Jimin's dreams and ambitions, rather than any quarrels with his family. There is a definite possibility that we'll meet his sister in the future, as well--Y/N will likely want to reunite them even for a few days, if she can. Y/N seems to be pretty happy go lucky and likable, so I'm sure Jimin's sister would approve, especially when she sees how much Y/N cares for her brother.

Jeongguk: The Constantine movie with Keanu Reeves has to be one of my favorite movies, like ever. I'm stoked that you think I've accomplished the aesthetic with Jeongguk! He happens to be one of the more self indulgent characters that I wrote into Trouvaille. I love a gothic sort of bad boy, and the paranormal investigator vibe fits him super well. Even IRL, Jeongguk has expressed interest in paranormal topics before, so I think it is true to him. He has quite an abrasive and temperamental personality in Trouvaille, which I think is refreshing for Jeongguk in fics. There is a reason for the way he acts and his prickliness, and when he feels like he can open up more and doesn't have to be so distrustful and defensive, he will. He is slowly becoming more comfortable in his environment, sharing it with the other hybrids, and with Y/N's presence, as well. I think he realizes now that she isn't there to betray him. His birthday was so so so fun to write, and allowed us to not only see a softer side of him, but get some of his backstory as well. I will jot down that drabble idea, I really think that would be a blast to write!

I agree, Sir Alec, the author sure has a way with writing. It's very immersive and keeps you wanting to flip page after page, seeking answers and the truth.

I think that was the author's intention. Even if we have to view it from Theo's plaintive standpoint, it gives us insight on two similar characters. Yes, Alicia and Theo are two different people but in a sense they are kindred souls; despite their varying backstories. It would be very different if it were from the perspective of another, that much I'm certain.

Indeed, Sir Alec. I can't wait to see where, or rather, how their relationships unravel throughout the book.

I present to you my notes for part 2:

It's come to my attention that Alicia started writing her 'nothing', as she calls it, on July 16th; the day of the murder was the 25th of August, a bit over a month it seems. I have a feeling that her entries will show how she had spiraled through that timespan.

There's a deep sense of foreboding in most of her entries. it's as if she was fighting an urge. One she refused to write or commit to reality. Similar to a premonition, I suppose.

I think Alicia was madly infatuated with Gabriel, in a way her love for him probably was suffocating her, so in a overflow of emotions, she killed him. That much I can piece together with how she views him as her savior in a way.

I am at a loss for words, but what was Kathy's motive? Why? Theo will never see the lilies she liked the same. Their smell would only bring up memories of them together, but does he still love her?

As I suspected, he does.

More and more of this mystery is starting to unfold.

I strongly dislike Max, he's a very bad person.

Most of the people involved in Alicia's past seem to have hidden intentions, while they didn't all utilize her for their own benefit. I have an inkling that they used her in some way.

Sir Alec, she smiled. A reaction at last.

For some time now, I've had the suspicion that Alicia's journal is yet to be found or perhaps it's been hidden.

Alicia has this...child-like wonder despite her not being innocent like one. It's very intriguing given her troubled background/childhood.

Just as things were progressing something had to intervene, but at least Alicia was the one who had possession of the journal. It seems she's grown to trust Theo, even if only a sliver.

I'm delighted to hear that you're doing better, Sir Alec. May it continue having days free of worries and overwhelming stress, I hope you've had the opportunity to indulge yourself in activities you find pleasant and alleviating.

And I absolutely love how we share the same thoughts about Alicia sure she did love him a lot but that love might’ve drove her insane but for her to do such thing is very interesting not just because she loved her husband sm but bc she doesn’t seem capable of doing so? Like you said she has this childlike wonder that not only we have notice but a lot of ppl in her every day life have done so as well because like you’ve said they’ve all in one way or another taken advantage of that childlike innocence

Also lord I rmr how much max went on my nerves when I was reading it I wanted to punch him in the face because each and every thing he said was so obnoxious or downright cruel but as to not spoil too much I’m going to keep my mouth sealed

Also you know what’s interesting this obsession that lies both within Alicia and Theo because Alicia was obsessed with her husband while Theo becomes obsessed with Kathy and her actions and such and I think it’s another super interesting parallel genuinely can’t wait for you to get to the meat of the book bc it’ll get interesting 👀

we finally get arlecchino backstory! and her real name?!?! peruere is such a cute name omg. seeing her as a child was so adorable!! and her crush AHEM friend clervie!!!!!! i love them being friends, i love them being so happy and innocent together before… yeah…

the parallels between crucabena being a kind and sweet ‘mother’ on the outside while truly cold and cruel towards her children, while arle is unfeeling and strict on the outside but a caring ‘father’…. holy shit. arlecchino’s character is so fascinating. i want to write a proper analysis on her soon, but i’m gonna wait until i get more from her actual character details to post it.

i want to know more about arle’s curse… i am hoping there is more explained in her stories because what theyve shown so far is so interesting?????? i need to know more!?????

AND FREMINET OH MY GOD I ALMOST FORGOT HIM (that was freminet right???) arlecchino promising to raise him as her child… being a ‘strict and unfeeling father’ as opposed to crucabena’s false sweetness…

other little details i loved were scara’s coat being slightly too big for him, THE SYMBOLISM WITH THE FLOWERS, the entire fight scene is so well animated—actually scratch that. the animation in general is so incredible, if we see more like these im going to go feral. (i say, as if i am not already going feral over this one AHDHJSGSKA)

Also, I binged your zombie au a few days, and much like w/ the campervan au I was so impressed about how you incorporated the show’s dialogue, especially in regards to the climactic meeting between Theo and Koschei. Also also, I was so excited when Jericho showed up - what a tenseful way to introduce him to the reader, too. If you’re comfortable w/ answering: 1 and 2 for this au?

Ahh hello! :D Thanks for the ask - and ahhh I'm so glad that you enjoyed zombie au!! It's one that I'm actually pretty proud of, I have a massive soft spot for it. One of my favourite things to do with aus is take lines/ideas from the original content and weave them into the new story - I mean, you've seen that in campervan au, but for me one of the most interesting things about writing zombie au was taking lines that I'd also used in campervan and putting them in a new context and shedding a different light on them, but also taking lines and ideas that I haven't even touched in campervan and exploring them here instead! And augh, man, I'm still SO proud of that part where Theo finds Koschei in the corridor during the attack - everything just came together, and I could just see it in my brain but I feel like I actually managed to get what I could see onto the paper in a way that really captured it. I'm so happy that you enjoyed it!!

But hmmmmm let me see...I'm gonna put this under the cut because it's long, but:

5 - What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

Oooh this is kind of tricky. I think one of the biggest problems with both of anterograde and ziptie is that they're so interlinked with the main au - I can't really write them or post them until I've finished the entirety of campervan. Anterograde is also quite large and nebulous - it spans over several years after the initial train crash, and so I'd really have to figure out how to structure it if I wanted to do it properly. It's much more 'slice of life' than the other ones, which are much more plot driven. The other problem with both of them is just sitting down and writing them, yknow? They're both BIG stories! Ziptie in particular also has a lot of logistics going on that I'd need to actual sit down and figure out if I wanted to write it properly, but at the moment the main draw is thoschei being feral

9 - What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?

With anterograde au - I feel like it's the slower, domestic version of the main au, but with bucketloads of angst to make up for the general softness. I think it's also just the premise of it too? Like memory and identity are SUCH interesting themes to me (see: I write about them all the time), but I think holding up campervan and anterograde next to each other is what makes them both so fascinating because in one you've got the Doctor with retrograde amnesia, cut off from her past but still ending up defined by it; with anterograde, the ONLY THING SHE HAS is her past, and everything else is thrown into confusion and uncertainty. And then, you've got Koschei, who is suddenly having to deal with a very different situation to the one he was originally envisioning for himself (and for the Doctor) and it's just......really cool to see how the same characters, with the same backstory, end up in completely different places (emotionally and literally) because of the Doctor's brain injury being different depending on the verse. Also just the inherent....trust that comes with them living together and Koschei fundamentally ending up as the Doctor's carer. And not just the trust between the pair of them, but also with other people too (like Graham and Grace, Jack, etc.). I think anterograde reaaaally makes it clear that Koschei is, at heart, still the terrified 15yo that he was in 1999, and that he's never had anyone to actually help him. Anterograde kind of gives Kosch this chance to actually have a support network and help himself, which does allow him to heal (to some degree) from a lot of his stuff. The inherent tragedy here is that the Doctor, on the other hand, has suddenly lost her sense of time and so can't tangibly heal in the same way, because she can't remember it. However, there is a lot of healing going on under the surface - which is takes a while for both of them to notice and understand, but it is definitely there.

With ziptie - I think the premise of 'spydoc ziptied together' is the main draw HAHAHAHA but serious answer, ziptie spydoc are just...so painfully co-dependent in the worst way ever. And they hate it! Because they get thrown into this working AGAINST each other, and then are suddenly in a truly awful situation for weeks where they're suddenly the only person that the other can trust. And then by the time they get out of that, everything is worse and they're also messing with each other's heads in a very literal way (because in ziptie, they both have the kasaavin on their necks and can't get them off) and it causes a lot of interesting issues.

10 - What are your hopes for your wip?

This is interesting, because I have thought a lot about this - because, truth be told, I'm almost certain that anterograde and ziptie and the other aus will never be written in full. However, when (and it IS a when, I am determined) campervan is finished and fully posted, there's a reasonable chance that I'll post some excerpts from the other aus, if people are interested! It might also be fun to like, write an explanation or summary of the au? Or maybe make a video or something explaining everything? That would probably take ages to make but I feel like that would be the best format. I would definitely like to share them somehow, someday, because they offer such an interesting insight into each other.

And then - for zombie au!!

1 - What was the first part of your wip that you created?

I'm genuinely not sure with this one!! I'm pretty sure I just opened a document and started writing haha! I feel like that's right - the opening of zombie is very much just me going 'uhhhhhhHHHH LET'S JUST START IN A RANDOM PLACE' ahahaha, you can kind of tell that I just threw Theo into the set and told her to improvise. Which, to be clear, is something I do WAY too much. Even when I plan fics, I have no idea what's going on, so I have a tendency to just coast on vibes and see what happens as the story unfolds. Especially when I'm starting a story. Usually by a few chapters in, I've started to get a sense of things.

2 - If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Hahah well the fic title is take from a song off the album Future Dust by The Amazons, so no one is surprised that I would probably pick a song by that band. Either In My Mind or Mother. As a fun sidenote though, the theme song for Theo and Koschei before Gallex gets released is Junk Food Forever.
