Darth Vader pretty much murdered his fucking wife after struggling with his inner turmoil and manipulation, and Kylo Ren, after significant turmoil, succumbed to the manipulation of Shookie or who what ever the fuck his name is, and stabbed his dad. They are the same. Literally the same. One just happened to fucking attack his pregnant wife (and that wasn't Kylo Ren)

ALso lets not forget when Vader tortured Luke's friends just to draw him to Cloud City. Then he proceeded to cut off his own son's hand. Lets not forget how Vader let Alderan be destroyed. Lets not forget it was Vader who suggested they torture Princess Leia. Vader is just as evil as Kylo Ren, yet some how he deserves the redemption arc, not his grandson. Sounds like you have nostalgia goggles.

Okay, okay,  I figure I should actually acknowledge you rather than just make fun of you arguement.

Yeah, Vader did some really fucked up shit, I never said he was redeemed though. Just because a character is sympathetic, doesn’t mean they are a redeemed character. A character can do some terrible, god-awful shit and you can feel for them, but that doesn’t mean they’ve made up for what they’ve done just because you see where they’re coming from or acknowledge their situation is shitty.

HOWEVER, at this point in time, Kylo has done basically nothing to earn any real sympathy. The only thing even playing in his favor right now is that he didn’t ONE HUNDRED PERCENT want to kill his dad (which like, pretty weak) and the implication that he was targeted by Snoke from childhood.

Anakin Skywalker, however, was born into slavery, met the Jedi who outright told him “we’re not here for you” until her turned out to be Very Special, then they freed him but not his mom, and he was forced into an extremely strict religious organization that already viewed him with controversy because he was entering at an age older than Literally Just Born and had formed attachments with his mom, but he still trained there anyway, then a fucking WAR started and he was forced to fight in that conflict AND his mom was killed at the start of it. That lasted for a couple of year, during which time he broke his organization’s strict rules and got married. Also during the war, he picked up his own student, but their student was then ostracized and eventually put in a position where she couldn’t stay with the order in good faith. At the tail end of the war, when he was under the most stress, the organization that he’d tried to please as much as he could showed signs of distrust in him. To make things worse, he started being haunted by visions of his wife dying just after she announces to him that she’s pregnant, putting him in a position that he’ll do ANYTHING to save. Taking advantage of all his mistreatment and grief, Palps then comes right in like “yo im evil but i can help save ur gurl” which leads down to the path that we all know, he works with Palps, fights Obi, gets lit the fuck up, Padme dies (and the kids with her, as far as he knows), and he becomes Vader.

Like honestly if you don’t want to read that, you can basically sum it all up with: Darth Vader’s life fucking sucked.

Also, before I cap this off, a few counterpoints:

Anakin didn’t actually kill Padme, that was the stupid fucking heartbreak thing

Also, that was in a fit of emotion while Kylo’s murder of his father was completely calculated

Kylo let several major planets, including the capital of the Republic, be destroyed

Kylo tortured both Rey and Poe for informaton

Kylo crossed a line that even Vader didn’t cross by killing his father, something that even Vader didn’t want to do unless his hand was forced, and even then ultimately refused to do.

Like, sorry, Kylo isn’t your good boy, dude. If you think he’s hot or something then that’s cool, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s an evil character.
