GENDER, PRONOUNS, and SEXUALITY:  George identifies as a cis-man and uses he/him pronouns. He is fairly comfortable with these. George is hetero-romantic and asexual, although I would not say this is a term he understands or would use for himself. Whenever his friends would talk about their partners sexually, George would play along with the others, but definitely would look to change the subject as soon as humanly possible. It is simply not something he can comprehend about himself and he does best ignoring feelings that he may not yet understand. The only person he has ever even mildly revealed this to would be Fred, but George was not comfortable going into any major detail in regards to how he felt. At most it was an offhand comment here or there.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND

POSTBELLUM

They say there are five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. They also say that time heals all wounds. George has found out that hard way that this is all a load of rubbish. What they don’t tell you about losing the most important person in your life is that you never fully stop grieving. You can’t heal. Because healing involves forgetting. A bouquet of flowers from his great aunt was nice, but it’s not going to make George forget and it’s not going to bring Fred back. And George has no idea how to keep plants alive, anyway.

It seems like most others have been able to move on; start families, or careers, but George can’t seem to get past it, and he forces himself to deal with his loss head on every day by working day in and day out at that store that haunts him. He sees Fred in everything; from the letterhead on his desk that still reads “Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, Proprieters Fred and George Weasley”; to the kids who come in and test the screaming yo-yo’s in front of him; or the mirror in the bathroom that is for employees only. He has buried himself in his work post the war, and quite literally expects to be buried in it.

While George will never fully get over the loss of his twin, he has since stopped having panic attacks in the bathroom and got a haircut, which he considers major progress. It has also helped that he has finally taken Ron up on his offer to help run the shop, which he realized he needed a long time ago, as the bills have piled up from all his discounts. [Happy to redact if Ron’s mun decides they don’t want to follow this plot!] He still snaps at his family more than he would like, but they know how suffocating they can be.

The news of the Returned may have been the happiest anyone had seen George in years. He cracked a joke and even went out of his way to visit his siblings, instead of making them come to him. To Hell with adjusting to his new life, he was ready. It seemed clear to him that those who died valiantly in the Battle of Hogwarts were returning—After all, if people like Professor Lupin and Lavender Brown were coming back, it was only a matter of time until Fred did too, right?

PERSONALITY: What are they good at? What do they struggle with? What are their strengths and weaknesses? 

Boys as loud as their hair, is what George heard Filch say about him and his brother once, and it lit up his face with a wide bright grin before he tapped Fred excitedly on the shoulder to share the good news. It was this unbridled optimism, this impractical belief that he could do anything that gave him the confidence and courage to follow his dreams. That, and having a partner by his side.

George was easy to get along with, because for most of his life his decisions had been made for him and all he had to do was saddle up and play along. Fred was always the one setting the wheels in motion, and George was grateful for that. He wasn’t shy by any means, but people just flocked to Fred, and by association George. They were known to light up any room they were in, and were always the first to enliven a crowd if it was too dreary for their liking. He liked having the same friends as his brother. He liked being a package deal. He knew Fred would always have his back so when he felt like he wanted to retreat, he knew Fred could carry a conversation or sort something in the shop without him.

Perhaps that’s why it’s been so hard for George to adjust to life on his own. Now all of that pressure falls on him and it feels overwhelming. He was never the business-savvy brother, leaving Fred to come up with price points while he worked on ideas for new products.

Now, it feels like half of himself is gone. Sometimes he feels like a body walking around and smiling because that’s what people are supposed to do, but the joy just isn’t there. The smiles are artificial now. He is trying, but few things can bring back that spark that his twin so easily transferred over to him.

BRIEF OVERVIEW OF FAMILY: What was being part of their family like? How did they grow up? What values did their parents/family instill in them?

His parents instilled in him and all his siblings a love and joy greater than most, and George was grateful for that. The Weasley’s weren’t well off by any means, but that only bubbled the creativity in the twins, especially when it came to ways to cure their boredom. He remembers fond birthdays he shared with Fred where they made their own cake scream or spent an entire afternoon perfecting exploding snaps in their bedroom, much to the dismay of their parents. The Burrow was unkempt and chaotic, but George loved it, squeaky floorboards and all.

He hasn’t been back in years, purposefully choosing to close himself off from that space. He knows his mother isn’t happy with his choice and that guilt eats him up inside, but that shrinking feeling in his heart is better than the burning feeling he would get of seeing his brother’s hand on that clock. Still, George loves his family endlessly, even if he hasn’t done a very good job of showing it these last couple of years.

HISTORY: What was their life before the end of the war in ‘98 or before their death? What was important and formative for them?

There was a time when George thought that the worst thing that could happen to him was having to de-gnome the garden after flying a car underage. Then there was a time he thought the worst thing that could happen to him was losing an ear. George and his siblings grew up in a loving, but shabby home. He loved his siblings and knew they loved him, even if he and his twin brother were always pranking them. They were carefree, and they had each other.

Fred was the one who first suggested the two go into business, and George was always the first to agree with his big brother. It felt like a dream, leaving the drudges of school behind and spending all day doing what he loved with the person he cared about most. They never fought. They had been a well-oiled machine since birth, so it only made sense that their business ran smoothly. The one knew where the others’ strengths and weaknesses lied. Fred was better at bargaining and he didn’t care what color the walls were, like George did. Growing up did not seem like growing up, because he had a partner by his side.

George was the one who first brought up going back to Hogwarts. Given their proximity to the Order of the Phoenix and Harry, fighting alongside them was their only option. Additionally, George felt they owed Harry for helping them start their business in the first place. He will always believe that the cause they fought for was noble and right, but he sometimes wonders if the victory was worth the loss. He doesn’t spend much time with folks of his past. George doesn’t want to, but a piece of him resents Harry. He would never tell anyone, but he wonders if they hadn’t gotten so close, felt it was necessary to fight alongside him, if Fred would still be here. He wonders If he wouldn’t fall asleep alone at his desk every night curled into a ball; he wonders if he would ever make a new product instead of staring, detached at the efforts that just remind him of his brother.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO? I feel like finding a post-war trio era rp with a unique plot that is also para-based is me asking for too much, and yet here you are!! I have never explored Post-War George and I think his trauma is so fascinating and it could affect his life in so many different ways, as it already has. The addition of the Returned is asking for more ~angst~ and boy am I here for it :) In particular, I am interested in exploring the dynamics George has with his siblings especially, as I am sure some of them have very different reactions to him kind of closing himself off for a bit, and his guilt is obviously through the roof because of it. But also all characters tbh!!! I love for plotting out entirely too much backstory haha.

George has a hard time sleeping (he always has) but he actually enjoys sleeping in his office. The papers piled high, the Pygmy Puffs that squeak at night–the clutter and chaos actually feel like the most stable thing he has had in a long time. Immediately following the war, George stayed at the Burrow for a few weeks to be closer to his family, using it as an excuse to get any leftover stock that might still be in his childhood bedroom. But it was too troubling to sleep in that room. It was bare-boned, not only because he had taken most of his belongings, but because one of the beds was empty. After the first night, he slept on the couch in the living room instead.

While he barely feels the loss of his left ear these days, occasionally there is a ringing sound that fills his head and gives him migraines from the pain, major enough that he needs to lie down. This only happens occasionally, and he usually chooses to push through it by clasping his hand to his ear for a few minutes.

George actually used to care quite deeply about his appearance, however, that has definitely gone downhill in recent years. Some could say he is going to a “rugged” look, but it’s really just because he can’t be bothered to wash his hair. In the last couple of weeks, however, he has donned the old suit that he used to wear to work everyday. He can’t fill it out like he used to, but it gives him some semblance of hope.

IC questions:

1.   When you look in the mirror, what do you see? I see..a man who’s sometimes more human than anything else. Someone who makes and has made mistakes, done some shit that he really regrets and hurt people along the way. But I also see a man who tries. Who loves and protects fiercely, atones for his mistakes, and does the fucking best that he can. I may not like what I see every day, but shit..who does? At least I’m finally seeing someone that does deserve to be happy and loved.

2.   Do you believe it’s okay to tell a lie and under what circumstances? I’m trying to be a lot more open and honest. In the past, I’ve kept things from the people that I love, and it wasn’t right or fair. So yeah, truth is always the best policy, when possible. Little white lies though, they are sometimes needed. Like..I may tell the Administration that I’m gonna punish a mouthy slave, but everyone knows that’s bullocks. Sometimes you do gotta just tell people what they wanna hear.

3.   Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I think I’m a fair mix of both. I am a social person, you gotta be if you’re in the line of work that I’ve been in for decades. Plus I just like people, if they ain’t assholes. But when I want my solitude and a little peace and quiet, you best let me have it.

4.   If you could describe yourself in one sentence, what would you say? I’m a man who hasn’t always had an easy life and sometimes makes mistakes, but through it all I always try to be a good, just, and..fucking hilarious man.

5.   If you went to Hogwarts, which House would you be sorted into? Ah..I would say Gryffindor. I like to think that I’m strong, and brave. And I’ve had my share of incidents that started with ‘hold my beer’.

6.   What lie are you most likely to tell? Around here? That I’m gonna be a bigger asshole than I actually am, if it means that I’m getting to protect someone, somehow. Back in the real world? I don’t really know. But it would likely be something meant to protect someone as well.

7.   Which do you find more appealing: to be loved, to be admired, or to be feared? Why? To be loved. I don’t give a shit about being admired, or feared. But love..it really does give you a purpose. And at the risk of sounding sappy as shit, it does give life meaning.

8.   Do you have any pet peeves? Uh..embarrasingly enough I could list a bunch. I try to be a tolerant man, but there’s just some shit that gets under my skin, you know? Gum smacking, people who don’t take care of their pets or pick up their shit when walking. Drivers who have no fucking clue where their turn signal is or how to get out of first fucking gear. During the time of Blockbuster, assholes who never rewound the tape before returning it. Drunk people who think they know fucking everything, including how to walk when they clearly can’t. I could go on but I won’t bore you.

9.   If you could go back in time and undo one of your own actions, which would it be? Why? What I did to Atticus. I hurt him so badly, I completely broke his trust. And that’s something that I will regret for the rest of my days. If I could take it back I would, just so I could spare him that hurt. He did nothing to deserve it. ( @voulez-vousatticus )

10.What kind of people do you value more: those who are loyal to you or those who are useful to you? Why? Loyal. I like to think that I don’t use people, that’s crap. And it ain’t like I expect anyone to be loyal to me and no one else, or any shit like that. But aye, I do value loyalty.

11.Be honest… are you easily influenced by others? I try not to be. I’m a packless wolf, who’s always owned his own business and answered to pretty much only himself. So in lots of situations in my life, I ain’t ever really had anyone to influence me. But..I think it can happen to anyone, in certain situations. I’m sure I ain’t immune to it happening to me.

1.   What kind of anonymous questions are your favorite? I like ones that are actually related to some kind of character development, or are more about Ciaran as a person than ‘ship/gossipy stuff.

2.   Are you prone to go a few days without responding due to life/personal reasons/lack of inspiration? Absolutely! I’m a mom with two boys, and things can get busy sometimes. Summer is an especially crazy time for me, but there are also a lot of weekends when I’m not able to get on.

3.   Have you ever deleted/abandoned a muse before? Sure have. It can be really hard, but that’s just how things work out sometimes.

4.   Do you listen to music while your write? I do, or I watch TV/movies, or YouTube videos with my kids. I’ve had to become a master of multitasking, or I would never get anything done.

5.   Are there any languages besides English in which you think you could comfortably roleplay? I’ve never tried but with the right resources I may be able to. There’s really no particular language that I think would be easier than another.

6.   How many drafts is a paralyzing amount? That’s a hard question because I’m used to a lot. Sometimes I can have between ten and twenty per character. So I guess anything more than that?

7.   What aspect of your muse’s personality is most important to you? What aspect of your muse’s personality do you think is most important to them? Is it the same? Why or why not? His strength of character and protectiveness. And Ciaran would say the same. He’s certainly not a perfect man, he’s made his share of mistakes in his life. But one of the things that’s always held strong is that he is a good man and that he tries to do right. And if he loves you, he will lay down his life for you.

8.   Do you enjoy putting your muse through angst? What do you think would break their heart the most? I wouldn’t say that I particularly enjoy it all the time? But I think that it’s good for character arc/development, and it is needed to keep things realistic. Nothing is perfect and happy all the time! The thing that would break his heart the most though would be hurting/losing Kai, or hurting anyone that he cared about. ( @lvstwxtch )

9.   Is there ever been a time when you’ve had to drop a roleplaying partner because you’ve found their writing style exhausting? No, luckily I’ve never really experienced that. I consider myself to be a very patient and tolerant person, maybe to a fault at times, but I always try to be open and give people a chance, and to try and talk out any issues instead of just flat out dropping.

10.How much do you proof-read as you are writing vs. proof-read at the end? It’s a little of both. If spell check catches something, I do tend to correct it as I’m going. But then at the end, I do try to read things over as well unless I’m really pressed for time.

11.Is there something that you’d never be okay with writing? Anything that has to do with child/animal abuse are really hard limits for me.

We’re almost half-way through this year, and I realized that I hadn’t done a new one of these in nine months! My plan was to post them quarterly (or every three months) so the list wouldn’t get too long. I may or may not stick to that plan, now that I see I can probably go longer than three months on these. Other than this, continue to bear the following in mind for the below-mentioned role playing tasks:

THIS POST IS THIS BLOG’S ONE AND ONLY RP THREADTRACKER.  Items created after today’s date (including, but not limited to, any new replies/role plays sent to us - feel free to tag us too), I will list here to reply to in due time. They are added to this post, as it serves to continue keeping track of any future tasks until the next mun announcement post is created. It is strongly, STRONGLY advised that you continue checking back to this post as it gets updated once a week.

Any task which has a reply added to and posted from my blog, will have a checkmark (✔) next to that item; these should also appear as responded to under your individual tags (if you can’t find it there, may I suggest also checking your tag in the Other Blogs page linked on my blog’s sidebar). Note that just because the task has a checkmark, does not mean you are not welcome to continue it or reply to the reply. Speaking of tags, four different ones are usually seen at the bottom of each of my role play posts. The first is the URL/username of the role player/muse/blog that post is directed to. The second is the verse tag, which is currently a variation of either arai prime (Raylan Gray’s ‘one-life’ verse), one of the sub-verses (for example future imperfect) listed on the AUs and Threads page, or verse tbd if a verse is yet to be decided at the time the post is published. All sub-verse titles are preceded by v; to identify them as sub-verses in the tags for role play. The only one not preceded by v; is arai prime because this is the main verse in which all sub-verses are under. The third is the chapter tag, which is currently a variation of kill your double. All chapter titles are preceded by ch; to identify them as being within one or more of the aforementioned sub-verses, in the tags for role play. The fourth tag usually seen at the bottom of each of my role play posts is the thread’s title: one that I’ve assigned for purposes of identifying that individual thread/story. This fourth tag is the one you usually find blue-linked on the AUs and Threads page, linked on my blog’s sidebar. That’s how you can identify your particular thread/role play with me, if you ever need to refer back to it.

Any other task that doesn’t have a checkmark has the letter ‘H’ with a circle around it (Ⓗ) next to that item. This signifies that said specific thread is on hiatus (NOT dropped) because one or more of the blogs it includes are on hiatus as well. As such, it also signifies that said specific thread will be responded to, once the blog(s) in question is(are) off-hiatus.

For easier access, this post is temporarily linked as Role Plays In Progress… on my blog’s sidebar, until the next mun announcement is posted and linked in this post’s place.

These role plays are responded to on Thursdays through Saturdays (dates/times/days of the week are subject to change), depending on how busy Mun is IRL away from this blog. Rest assured that any role play I do receive (whether that’s a random starter, a reply to the same, a submission, or anything else), I do track for purposes of responding to later (as you can see from this mun announcement); in other words, if it’s listed in this post, it will be replied to. There’s obviously been exceptions to this rule (as in I’ve responded to some role plays at the time I received them, because I might have had the ideas readily available to flesh out those threads/plots at that particular time; I believe some of you call that “having muse for it”). But I usually try to get to everyone’s by going down the list and alternating between RP types. There is no deadline or time by which I respond, as I usually do when the time and Muse become available.
