#(non-jews pls dont reblog)#they arent even a real thing!#and theyre sure as hell not any sort of monument to inclusivity or openmindedness#theyre basically a marker of 'these are the gentiles we hate least and who will survive the apocalypse to serve as our slaves#not literally but that is the attitude behind it#critically important to note that theyre formulated in rabbinic texts in a community of people who had not held any sort of power#in a millennium and who had been an oppressed minority everywhere they lived for the last half millennium#but they ARE fantasizing about what they will do when they get that power and how they will enforce their society onto others#the jews of the rabbinic period were very much jewish supremacists. they had no power to do anything with that ideology but. still#(also had strict ideas of hierarchies among jews ie rabbinic observant jews esp rabbis themselves as supreme)#it is NOT healthy and it is NOT something we should interact with without close criticism and self-reflection#idk ive spent a while with rabbinic texts now and some of them have amazing ideas!#but the rabbis themselves as people with ideologies? i dont like them and i dont trust them#i owe them a vast debt for the past millennium and a half of the development of judaism and i love them for that but i do kind of hate them#also wtf is up with people wanting to 'halfway' convert to judaism if you know you dont want to convert then just. dont.#not really comfortable with people wanting to observe jewish laws or incorporate judaism into their lives AS NON-JEWS#and with the intent to remain that way... rubs me the wrong way#i very rarely actually respond to this stuff but rest assured i am thinking about it#mine#judaism tag
