If you bring Indra to parties, he will have an internal meltdown. He overthinks everything he and just about everyone else says. He wondered if he was too deadpan when he asked where the bathroom was. If he was too awkward meeting your estranged high-school best friend, who gave him a thorough up-and-down with a scowl on her face. If he wasn’t talking enough — if he was talking too much (which was highly unlikely). He wonders if holding your hand is too much PDA for right now, even though he’s praying either you’ll hold it or announce your departure. Of course, he isn’t so lucky as to leave as early as he wants, but you do manage to get him to wind down enough to where — believe it or not — he starts to enjoy himself despite his anxiety.

When you finally leave, though, the relief on his face and the release of the weight on his chest makes it that much easier to make up for his awkwardness when you get home.

So far it's only been one, and that's Inaiya with Yua (@petiteamores) I would add Gaia but she was a muse first before she just became an NPC. I've never really thought about that with my npcs at all, but like, Inaiya was stupid loud about it so *shrug*

THE PRINCESS DIARIES - coming into your power.

Astrological analysis with nakshatras

The princess diaries, 1 and 2, are forever on the list of my favorite movies. Girls all over the world feel for Mia and I'm no exception, I almost always cry during certain scenes and I'm amazed again and again by how relatable and real she is, by how those movies speak to young girls.

I've decided to break down the main themes in the two movies by analyzing nakshatras of the people involved.

A quick recap of what the story is about: Mia is a 15 year old teenager living in San Francisco with her mother. She's clumsy, awkward and has no self esteem. One day, her estranged grandmother comes to visit her from Europe to tell her that she's the only legitimate heir to rule a small country- Genovia.

Director of the movies, Garry Marshall has Ketu in Magha. Magha is about ancestors, bloodlines and it's also associated with royalty (Magha begins the signs of Leo). Ketu in a chart represents a person's primal creative energy. This explains why he was drawn to a story about royalty. One interesting fact to note is that Gary Marshall made two very iconic movies (Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride) starring Julia Roberts who has been a kind of muse to him and who has Magha moon. This is also a pattern with directors and actors, one example I can think of is Kirsten Dunst (Ashlesha moon, Purva Ashadha Ketu) being a muse to Sofia Coppola (Purva Ashadha moon, Ashlesha Ketu).

Anyways, let's get back to The Princess Diaries and analyze the heart of the two movies- the relationship between Mia and her grandmother, queen Clarisse.

Anne Hathaway - Hasta moon, Vishakha sun, Jyeshta rising

Julie Andrews - Vishakha moon, Hasta sun, Uttara Phalguni rising

SPOILER ALERT

Part 1

Hasta- strong females

The second movie's main theme is about female empowerment and independence. When the parliament refuses to let Mia rule without a husband, she has 30 days to arrange a marriage and she's willing to do it, just because she wants to rule so much that's she's ready to make such a sacrifice. At the last second she breaks down at her wedding, unable to be betray herself and finds courage inside her to make the parliament change their minds. She succeds and becomes queen without a husband.

Hasta is all about female empowerment but unlike Bharani, it's in a non-sexual, celibate way. Hasta, as a woman, completely rejects almost all male influence and is capable of being self-reliant, only opening up to rare men who she deems worthy. Hasta is the female that does not need a man and in that way, is a safe and empowering place for women.

There's a scene in the second movie where Mia stops the parade to defend a small girl from boys who were bullying her. She tells her how to be a princess and empowers her, letting her and the other kids join the parade. During the monologue at the end, when Mia is talking to the parliament at her wedding, we see women accross the country intently listening to her on the television, shushing the men . 😆

Part 2

Vishakha - joining opposites

Like Hasta, both Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews have Vishakha in their luminaries. Vishakha nakshatra is about joining opposites. It begins in the sign of Libra (partnerships, agreements, relationships, compromise) with its last quarter being in Scorpio (death, transformation, occult). Vishakha is ruled by the gods Indra and Agni- the lightning and fire gods. It's about energized ebthuasiasm, cultivating something over time, about using the pent up energy or anger. It's another name is Radha ("the gift", hence the next nakshatra being Anuradha- "after the gift".)

"The gift" is not just good, it can also be unwelcome, like in Mia's case, when she was angered by the revelation that she's a princess. Queen Clarisse and Mia are very different from each other, but neither had a choice but to compromise and agree to a bargain. They learn to appreciate their differences and embrace their similarities, thus, joining opposite forces.

They do have misunderstandings, but that's part of all relationships and eventually they bond deeply as they realize they have the same goal. Vishakha is also connected to anger and the little outbursts they both have definitely show that. One great example is when Mia ruins Lana's (her bully's) outfit and calls her a jerk in front of everyone after always just silently ignoring her remarks.

Joining opposites in this movie is not just about Mia and the Queen, it's also about the two cultures, also about the first movie being a high school drama as well as a fairytale for young girls.

Part 3

Jyeshta - from underdog to the ruler

"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear."

To me, Jyeshta is connected to the underdog who succeeds despite all odds. Jyeshta 's power is to "rise, conquer and gain courage in battle". It's the stage of intense competition. Its deity is Indra- lightning god and the king of the gods, like Vishakha. We see other kids bully Mia in the first film but she slowly places herself above it, making her point (by taking her little revenge on Lana) and then not engaging with them anymore, as she realizes her own self- worth.

A major point in the movie is when she decides not to run away despite being scared to speak to the public, showing her true courage.

Besides Indra- the king of the gods, another deity associated with Jyeshta is Dhumavati- the hag goddess who is eternally hungry. Because of this, I think Jyeshta is associated with grandmothers and our relationship to them. I personally have exalted Ketu in Jyeshta and I was practically raised by my father's late mother (unlike my sibling, mind you. I'm the eldest) and I still have a close relationship with my mother's mother. Mia, played by Jyeshta ascendant Anne Hathaway, also has a very special relationship with her grandmother.

So, in the end, the bullied underdog became a princess and eventually- a queen.

Some bonuses:

Uttara Phalguni is associated with gaining wealth and privileges from partnerships. Uttara Phalguni ascendant Julie Andrews playing queen Clarisse, who became a royal by marriage, confirms that.

Heather Mattarazo (Lily) and Anne Hathaway were born only a few days apart, hence their charts being similar and them playing best friends.

It started with acacia blossoms, vibrant pink flowers that he found hidden around his apartment. His only houseplant (well, the only one he managed to keep alive) was an aloe vera plant — Frank found it extremely pretty and was dedicated to its care. But the flowers…? The aloe had grown a tall stalk, but it hadn’t bloomed. Anyway, the flowers were a totally different colour than they should be!

“What’s this?” He mused, turning over the petals to inspect them. They were in pristine condition… likely only picked in the last day or so.

He hadn’t had anyone over, had he? Surely, he’d remember something like that…

The only people to whom he had granted automatic entry were Indra and Dim, but Indra was visiting the Pacifica Tower, and Dim was out by Uranus, so that left a break in or—

“Oh my god…” a grin was plastered on his face, and Frank shook himself for not thinking of the obvious culprit first. Who else could enter his home undetected? Who else would leave him flowers?

He continued with his day, the blossoms tucked safely in his pocket, but found nothing more.

“I don’t get it,” he said. “It’s been a few months since we’ve spoken, and yet three days ago I found these flowers in my room.”

“Are you certain it’s-?” Indra began. Frank cut her off.

“-Who else could it be?

“I guess if nothing was stolen…”

“Not a thing!”

They were meeting for Sunday breakfast in a little cafe halfway down Africa Tower. The view out the window was marvellous, and Frank spent the conversation staring outside, only occasionally glancing over to his friend at the other side of the table.

“Are you going to say anything?” She asked.

Frank took a bite of his food before answering, turning over the options in his head.

“No, I don’t think so.”

It was usually better for him to wait things out, rather than jump to conclusions. An admission would come; he just had to be ready.

The next morning, Frank woke to find more flowers. This time, they were pale pink carnations intertwined with little blue forget-me-nots, tied together and standing in a crystal vase on his side table. He drubbed the sleep out of his eyes and looked around. Everything else was untouched.

“Sneaky,” he yawned. “How long’s this going to go on for?”

There was no response.

“Alright, have it your way.”

Frank got up, made himself presentable, and headed straight for the botanical gardens.

Urban fantasy, magical realism, science-fantasy

Horror/suspense, thriller, mystery, paranormal, body horror etc.

Dark fiction and light fluffy fiction are equally acceptable to me, including dark romance or books which deal with difficult or heavy topics

Romance elements, LGBT characters, gender fuckery is my bread and butter also

Well-written erotica is fine as well, esp if queer

Totally fine w/ werewolves and vampires and stuff like that

Interesting, compelling characters, regardless of whether it is character-driven or plot-driven. Messy, angry, complex, fascinating, dissectable characters (and/or plots)

Thoughtful deconstructions, genre blends, etc. are also great, including fairy tales and spec bio, experimental fiction, etc.

Period fiction is cool; historical fiction about real historical figures is less interesting to me. I prefer fictional characters in my fiction stories... (as funny as it is to talk to Karl Marx in Assassin's Creed)

Adult fiction, YA — Prose fiction mostly, poetic prose is great, some poetry is fine, and I have no problem with flowery language

I like well-crafted prose and am fine with pretentiousness or big words and literary fiction-esque stylings.

Not super interested in ~coming of age~ stories per se. Am however often interested in stories w/ protags who feel unmoored or lost, do not know what their goals in life are, etc. or exploring sense of self, identity, and so on.

Also not interested in middle grade or very pop cultural or meme-y fiction. I am fine with camp or some comedy or silliness but, man. I'm 30 and too picky to read the next RP1.

Mostly prefer fiction

Really enjoyed The Devourers (Indra Das), unfortunately bounced off of The All-Consuming World (Cassandra Khaw) mostly due to prose style (I liked the concepts and characters, not so much the execution). Also really enjoyed Mayhem in Manhattan (Wein + Wolfman) and the Lethal Protector novelization, lest you think I'm too good for superhero novels.

I also like Clive Barker fwiw and enjoy most of Vonnegut's works. I liked House of Leaves when I read it in college.

some of my fave comics include a lot of prose-poetry narration, evocative scenes, emotional musings and similar, and this can also apply to books etc. I like to write and read poetically influenced prose.

as an amusing comparison, as a teen I enjoyed Yolen's Dragon's Blood (and related books) and disliked Pern a lot, so that probably says something about my tastes. I was also obsessed with Eragon but I was 14 so. Also enjoyed The Hunger Games series in college, dislike most of John Green's work. Liked Uglies in middle school.

Neka was rather capable of handling himself in a fight, but he wasn't especially familiar with the layout of Sumeru's rainforests, so having both a guide and another source of muscle was much appreciated. Money wasn't much of an issue for him, so the increased chances of survival was well worth the pittance of a cost.

She was injured, so Neka wasn't about to let her go off alone after a few scuffles, so he elected to follow her, only to find her completely naked standing in the river, causing him to stop in his tracks. He took a deep breath once she accosted him, coming up with a coherent response in between looking her up and down.

Having been a doctor for a time back home, he knew his way around wounds, but he was also very cognizant not to force any amount of treatment on an unwilling recipient, whether out of trust issues, personal preference, or pride.

His words might be calm and professional, but the red tinge on his face betrayed Neka's true feelings on the sight before him.

There's so many Transformers I want to play as, especially Optimus Prime and Knockout, but my issue is I prefer the Transformers: Prime variations of them and I can't find any icons of them to save my life.

Allow me to introduce to you, Kane.

From the Command and Conquer series, Kane was one of my many NPC's who I have as part of a criminal underground underneath what was Lastation, now Indra. He was once one of Black Heart's advisors, but now he works with Arfoire and company in order to basically be a nuisance in the eyes of the Goddesses.

And I'm thinking of actually musing C&C here because the franchise is awesome.

Another day another funky Arknights collab, this time right now it’s Muse Dash! Steam showed me it just before a non-Arknights friend showed me it but it’s been a while since I last played and collabs here are all quality stuff. That talent is based more on her S2 with the Stun status icon hovering over her after Fever Modes.

8 tracks (Renegade; Boiling Blood; Operation Blade; Radiant; Dossoles Holiday; Autumn Moods; ManiFesto; Speed of Light) plus this Lungmen-themed stage with nods to the L.G.D. Trio up there, pretty nice selection. Amiya is also super adorable here just having a better time than on Terra, playing her violin and sometimes borrowing a bass. Guard mode is also snuck in during the fight animations which is cool to see. It’s been super fun to get back into MD like this at any rate. Though ManiFesto feels the most different since it’s extra-shortened by cutting the Indra verse to fit stage length presumably.

Aww that’s neat, the character level up reward (as I have been reminded the trinkets are) is…her, rings. Hmmmm. Why do we have them Doctor? Is this like, Kal’tsit cannot tell either of us off here? >_>
