It makes me sad to say this, but as I examine both Axiom Verge games, even though Trace is my favorite character so far and was the protagonist of the first game, I don't think he's the actual "main character," or that we will get to play as Trace again. I think the overarching story will end up being about humanity defeating the Rusalki, the Lamassu, all that kind of technology, and/or defeating the civilization that created it (the Udug, if I've understood the notes correctly).

I'm kind of hoping the next game is about Hammond. We've heard enough about her, and if we're gonna play as different characters, she's the next most logical choice.
