Prequel Star Wars (Head-canons): Dealing with a sick reader
A/N: After the request for these head canons for the original trio I kind of got inspired for the other trios too... oops?
Masterlist:
Anakin:
Ok. There’s only one word for Anakin when you’re sick: worrier.
Yep. This man is on red alert real quick the minute you mention even thinking you feel a bit under the weather. In fact, he’d have you back in your chambers and buried under a pile of blankets before you can even try to tell him it isn’t necessary.
“You can’t be too careful, and you do feel rather warm. You may have a fever-”
“Anakin! Say that once you’ve felt my forehead again, but with your non-robotic hand this time.”
“Oh.”
It’s rather sweet actually, watching the way Anakin scurries about getting anything and everything you could possibly need.
It’s also ironic considering this is the man who always insists he is fine, even when he has blaster wounds all over him. He may have been adversed to letting people take care of him, but he’s only too eager to take care of you.
After all, since his mother died, you are all he really has in the way of family. He’s not about to let something as simple as a cold kill you.
So, you let him fuss, knowing it’s just as good for him as it is for you, to let him play nurse maid for a while.
“Do you need more pillows? I also can get Obi-wan to get some more of that tea you like from the market too if you want.”
“I’m fine, Ani.”
“Are you sure? You still look pale-“
“Just come cuddle with me, ok? Just a for a while?”
Needless to say, he’s only too happy to cradle you in his arms and let you drift off to sleep against him, softly humming under his breath as he brushes the hair off of you face.
This is how it stays for the next few days or so, until you’re finally strong enough to get back up and move around the temple.
Even then, Anakin is like a shadow, following you around incase you’re wrong and it turns out you’re not strong enough yet to be up and about.
“Ani, honey, I’m fine. I promise. I’m not made of glass, you don’t have to always worry something’s going to break me.”
He knows you’re right, even if he’s reluctant to admit it. So, he settles for a kiss and a compromise that you at least let Ahsoka keep an eye on you while you work. It has been nearly a week since either of you left your quarters and people were going to start getting suspicious soon if he didn’t let you be by yourself.
However, he doesn’t need to worry.
It’s only a day later he starts coughing and feeling sick himself.
It’s hard not to laugh at the irony as you take his arm and start hauling him back to bed, ready to return the favour. What was one more week of seclusion, just the two of you? At least this time you’d get to play nurse maid.
Obi-Wan:
Unlike Anakin, Obi-wan is rather calm when it comes to handling any kind of problem. So, when he finds you slumped over, face down, in the text you’d been trying to read in the archives, he merely chuckles.
“Darling, wake up. You fell asleep again.”
“Obi?” You blink, groaning as you try to sit up without falling over from the sudden dizziness you feel rushing through you.
Of course, one look at you is enough to tell him something is definitely wrong with you.
“Oh dear, you look dreadful.”
“Wow. Such a charmer.”
“I try,” he teases, helping you up and wrapping an arm around you as he starts to escort you back to your rooms. You need some rest, clearly, if you’ve become rundown enough to catch some kind of bug. It’s probably the same one that’s been going around the younglings recently.
“Here we are. Let’s get you changed and settled in to bed, alright?”
His voice is so soft and soothing as he mothers you, seeing to your every need with barely a complaint. He has you out of your robes and into something comfy in the blink of an eye. He also makes you some tea and retrieves some medication from his bathroom cabinet, insisting you take some before sleeping.
Obi-wan is also a patient man. Being Master to Anakin for the last ten years has ensured that, meaning he is more than prepared for your whining and moaning.
He simply smiles, laughing at the rather adorable pout you wear whenever he tries to get you to take some more medication or agree to stay in bed for another day.
“But I have a report due tomorrow for Master Fisto-“
“I’ve already explained the situation to him. He has someone else finishing it for him.”
“Well, I also have that class with the younglings-”
“Which Master Yoda has also agreed to cover, so you have nothing to worry about except recovering, alright?”
It is alright, despite you pretending otherwise. When else do you get to spend so much time along together? In fact, despite feeling like death warmed up, you rather like letting him take care of you and entertaining you with whatever book he’s been reading lately.
He always looks happiest when he has you nestled under his arm, and a book in his free hand. Needless to say, he has no problems reading you off to sleep every night, watching as you drift off by the time he’s finished another chapter.
“Sleep well, my love.”
And you do. You sleep remarkably well with Obi-wan next to you which is why, even after you’re better, you’re quick to invite him to sleep in your bed as many nights as you can.
You’re also eager to return the favour and read to him instead, as he eventually falls asleep to the sound of your voice night after night.
Who knew the great General Kenobi was so adorable when asleep?
Padme:
Now, Padme may be royalty, but she is a public servant first and foremost. Her entire life is dedicated to the service of others, so when she sees you struggling to keep yourself upright at your desk, she is all over you.
“Y/N? What is it? Are you feeling alright?”
“I’m fine, Padme. It’s just stress.”
“Sure you are. Why else have you been staring at that page for the last hour and a half?”
She pauses, frowning at you and trying not to roll her eyes at your stoic nature. On one hand, it’s rather ironic for her to scold you when she herself has been known to burn the candle at both ends. However, there comes a point when it was impossible to ignore your body’s obviously worsening condition.
So, she swiftly orders you to bed and instructs a physician to check nothing is terribly wrong with you - even if you insist it isn’t necessary.
“Well, it is to me, alright?”
And of course, how can you say no to that sweet face when she pouts and bats her eyelids?
“Ugh! Fine!”
One annoyingly tedious check up later, you’ve been diagnosed with a mild stomach bug and told to rest for the remainder of the week.
“Here. I have some juice for you. You need fluids if you’re going to recover quicker.”
You smirk at the idea that a queen is serving you as she bursts into your room the following day, carrying a tray laden with fruit and a pitcher of your favourite juice.
You’re quick to thank her, downing the glass within seconds, much to her amusement.
“Thirsty are we?”
“And bored,” you whine, grinning as Padme passes you a data pad with a knowing wink. “You angel!”
“Hardly. You get one hour to work, ok? Then I’m taking it back and you’re having a nap? Understood?”
It seems like a fair enough compromise as you sit up and read the briefings she’s downloaded for you. In fact, by the time your hour is up, your eyes are drooping and you’re struggling to sit up by yourself.
“No protests? I am surprised.”
She clearly isn’t, but she’s too kind to say so as she kisses your forehead and clambers in to bed next to you as you nestle in close.
The soft scent of her perfume and the sound of her heartbeat is all the lullaby you need as you let yourself grab a few more hours of sleep.
A few days of this routine, and of Padme’s diligent care, and you’re back to your old self in no time.
In fact, a small part of you rather looks forward to the next time either one of you are sick given how nice it is to have the time to spend together.
So, you still insist on taking a nap together every afternoon despite being off bed rest. “Merely as a precaution” - or so you insist as you steal Padme from her office every day without fail for a small escape. “Wouldn’t want our favourite Senator to fall sick now, would we?”

Children Fall AU
Padawan Anakin with a group of initiates all ‘Falling’ at the same time
Maybe a Gathering gone wrong or something. Everyone is captured. Pirates or bounty hunters or just awful people.
No knights or the knights are killed.
Anakin is trying to protect the younglings.
Sacrificing himself if he can.
Falls in the process.
The kids are too young. They're not supposed to be in the field yet. There's a reason you're supposed to be a certain age before field missions. Before being chosen as a Padawan.
They can't handle their emotions.
They try to save Anakin right back but Fall, too.
Maybe they get overwhelmed by Anakin's Falling, since he is a supernova? And their shields aren't enough to protect them?
They survive and everyone is dead or dying but Anakin stands among a group of children, all with eyes of gold and he doesn't know what to do.
I want there to be like a noble reason for it?
Maybe but that definitely doesn't help the situation.
Maybe he remembers the tales of the Sith and executions.
He takes the kids and runs.
He doesn't know what he'll do, he just wants to protect them.
Maybe he Falls because he can't defeat the pirates/bounty hunters otherwise
They are kids, they can't be that dark, could they Fall by a Coruscanti Jedi point of view? Not so much Dark as too much attached, multiple Force Bonds attached? The question is more along the lines of Anakin knowing that, though.
They are holding each other together so closely that they would break if you tried to separate them? The pieces make a coherent whole together, but otherwise they would just be broken?
What if the younglings fell first and Anakin fell so that they wouldn't be alone.
Like the idea that the younglings would be hunted or at the very least isolated and he couldn't let that happen (Bariss and Ahsoka could be part of that group, they are in the right age range, right?)
He promised to protect them and he kept them alive but ultimately failed in the way that matters most to the Jedi.
It also could be about healing and building far away from what you used to know and considered home.
So the situation is too much too soon and they all fall. And Anakin with his too big heart and shields that still don't block emotions as much as they should is overwhelmed and he could fight it but…
But these kids need him. They're scared and terrified and he knows that they aren't going to risk heading back to the Jedi, not with the horror stories told about Sith and Dark Side users.
He can't leave them. They need someone, anyone. Even if that's probably him.
You could have them pick up other Force Sensitives kids in bad situations as they flee and protect each other. Like a travelling clan of Forces Sensitives.
The use of the word clan makes me wonder if this version of Anakin would look into alternative Jedi philosophies, like Vizla.
And the Jedi mourning Anakin plus the Initiates because they think they're dead.
The Jedi eventually track down the pirates, but the base has so much blood and darkside surrounding it that they assume that the pirates were blindsided by a dark force user/sith and the children were taken. The Jedi finding the building and feeling the overwhelming about of dark side energy that was used there.
Privately the Council almost hope they're dead because they think that it would be a kinder fate than to be tortured and broken by the Sith.
Quinlan not being able to get a read on anything because it's so heavy with pain and dark side energy.
All he sees is gold eyes and screaming.
He doesn't notice that it's more than one pair. Doesn't realise that they're each filled with tears and oh so young.
Obi-Wan is convinced that Anakin is still alive because the bond didn't snap but it might as well have because it's never been so solidly closed to him.
Anakin was always leaking emotions and thoughts through the bond and now all that meets Obi-Wan is a durasteel wall.
Also, Anakin becoming a bounty hunter to make sure the kids get enough food
If he looks into the Mandalorian Jedi, as a way to teach the Fallen kids, he could become Mando and do the bounty hunting as a way to take care of them. Just an idea, though.
What if they all become bounty hunters and no one realises that they're Sith or Dark Side users? Until a fight ends in a helmet being knocked off.
I like the thought of the kids forming a new Order of nomadic Force Users, you could fit so much Force worldbuilding here as they figure things out away from Coruscant.
What if dar jettii Ani and his gaggle of kids has a run in with Jango Fett. Depends on canon or fanon interpretation really.
I would imagine that Jango would absolutely adopt this smol child (teenager) and his band of even more smol children.
Wouldn't that be hilarious? Jango with 8 new kids?
One sullen teenager that refuses to trust. And then he plops Boba in Anakin's arms and Anakin just freaking melts and it's all over from there.
So, this Jango has his hatred of Jedi balanced by his love of children?
Or is it part of his plan against the Jedi to encourage Force users to create an alternative that won't make the same mistakes the Jedi did that led to the slaughter of his people?
I don't know since Anakin & Co. here aren't exactly Jedi. Though I think this Jango would have his hatred of Jedi balanced by his love of his 8 foundlings.
Jango as the Mand'alor.
Anakin pitches a fit when he finds out about the clones and Jango doing right by them
And all eight new kids have lightsabers, but they're not Jedi, so..........Boba/Jango might get the Darksaber in this!!!
Anakin finds out that Vizla has a Jedi artifact and just gets it back.
Hands it to Jango: “Like what? You needed this, right?”
Jango is a tired new dad. So Anakin is just like running around doing whatever and causing his dad stress.
What if Jango adopted them and didn't tell them?
Like, he said the words and Anakin didn't understand. The others did too, because they had that class, but Anakin didn’t
I mean Anakin would jokingly call him "buir" or "dad" at one point or another and Anakin is like "why do you even care".
He gets it eventually.
When he sits the fuck down and stops running around trying to protect everyone and puts the time in to sort his shit.
Read: When Jango gets the kids to sit on him when he starts looking like complete shit.
Yeah, Jango absolutely enlists his siblings' fellow former-Jedi to get him to slow down and relax.
They have it out at some point that Jango adopted him probably when he's gotten himself injured and doesn't understand why Jango won't leave him
and Jango's like "You kriffing di'kut, you're my son" and Anakin's like "?!?!?!? What?!?!"
Anakin can speak several languages but not mandoa. Jango tries to teach him, but his accent is atrocious.
Anakin can understand Mando'a and he sometimes uses some words, but he can't speak it.
Plus, he sometimes crosses Mando'a with another language or several and it just becomes an incomprehensible mess unless you understand all the languages he's crossed Mando'a with.
how about Mando'a's too close to something else he knows.
He keeps getting it super confused with another language.
Like french and spanish, but there's no cross meanings, so it might sound the same, the meanings AREN'T.
At this point, everyone just goes "you need a translator droid if you want to speak with Anakin"
However, he will offhandedly speak in another language or start writing in one language and end in another no matter how fluent he is.
And his accent is still atrocious. The closest comparison is the bastard compromise between Texan and Yorkshire.
Anakin is that one person who will use words from whatever languages are the best to speak about any given subjects.
Or whichever language he associates with a given subject. That's why he learned how to speak binary in the first place.
Boba becomes fluent in binary before speaking fluently in Mando'a.
I wonder how the discovery of Kamino would pan out in this.
Anakin accidentally starts a clone rebellion, and oops, it looks like there might be a Revolution on Kamino.
Slave rebellions are always very very good.
Dex: Ah yes Kamino, or how the Mand’alor got his groove back. Outer Rim politics got wild a while back let’s just say. Long story short, the Mand'alor adopted eight new children, one of them pitched a fit about clones, and things devolved from there.”
The Clone Wars are going to be a wreck.
There’s an army missing!
Sheev running around his office like: “Now, where did I put that”
He is furious because there's an army missing, his future apprentice is missing, his future apprentice has a stable support system
basically, his plan just collapses.
Obi-Wan starts to cry because oh thank the fucking force they’re alive but Anakin and the kids misinterpret it.
Anakin's just like "I'm sorry, I wasn't going to let them be hurt anymore! I wasn't going to let anything else happen to them!" Obi-Wan: "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!"

read chapter 4 here
“took a minute, but I figured it out. The problem with me is you.” - Problem With You by Sabrina Claudio
You practically bolted out of the ship once Anakin landed it, not wanting to face the consequences of your actions. It was stupid really, pining after someone you couldn’t have. I shouldn’t have reciprocated his kiss. The thought of it alone was selfish, stealing away the husband and soon-to-be father from Padme. Your task was to save the universe, by any means necessary. Well, Fury did suggest that I get close to him. But he also said to not do anything to drastically change their timeline. But it just doesn’t make sense. How was I supposed to befriend him without changing the timeline? For all I know, my arrival here has already severely altered their timeline.
You went to your room while Obi wan and Yoda went to a meeting, Anakin was nowhere to be found. You sat yourself on the edge of your bed, hands roughly combing through your hair. All you wanted for Anakin was from him to be happy. Of course, you could accept the fact that maybe it wouldn’t have anything to do with you, if only that were true. In the short time you’ve been on Coruscant, you’ve noticed something change in him. But you didn’t know him, the real him. The only version of him that you knew was the one that existed on screen; The one who loved his wife so much, that he turned his back on the ones he loved the most to save her. Only to ultimately lead her to her demise.
The Anakin you were getting to know was different, in a good way, yet he was still so complicated. After training, you would eat together, whether it was in the cantina or at Dex’s, it was always the two of you. Some nights, he would come to your room to talk. And you let him. You let him rant about how unfair the council was, the pressure of being the chosen one- whatever he had to say, you listened to him. He did his best to express his emotions to you, but still got overwhelmed by them. At times, neither of you knew what to do. So you both sat in a comfortable silence, the mere presence of each other was enough for the both of you. Sometimes the two of you sat outside of the temple, watching the sunset as the nightlife emerged. Other times you would sit outside in the garden, meditating together. You’ve gotten to see the side of Anakin that no one really knew. Well besides Obi wan, Ahsoka, and Padme. You have yet to meet Padme., only hearing whispers of her from the other Jedi.
While you did train under Obi wan and Anakin, you rarely got to see Ahsoka. After coming to Coruscant, she became Plo Koon’s temporary padawan so that Anakin didn’t have to train the two of you at the same time. Although it wasn’t the same as completely leaving the Jedi Order, you could tell how much it affected Anakin. As you sat on your bed you couldn’t help the question that came to your mind. When it comes down to it, will I be the reason he falls?
-
Anakin is already in the room when you show up for training. There are no remarks or comebacks made as the two of you prep, just pure silence. Silence, was something that you hated. It was different from the sunset-watching silence you always shared. This was tense, heavy, and just straight up unbearable. Your movements were awkward as you took out your lightsaber and got into a fighting stance.
“So who talks first? You talk first? I talk first?” You said, breaking the silence, not realizing you had just quoted Poe.
Anakin glares at you before responding, “There’s nothing to talk about.” He ignites his lightsaber and stalks towards you.
“Oh come on, don’t pretend like yesterday didn’t happen.” You replied, gripping your lightsaber in both hands as you ignited it.
“I’d rather not think about it. Now be quiet and focus.” He said, swinging his saber only for you to block his attack. You complied and trained with him in silence, save for the occasional grunt that you let out.
As the minutes passed, you grew more tired as Anakin’s actions became assertive. He began swinging his saber more aggressively, the pace so fast you almost couldn’t keep up. He was going to back you into the corner if he didn’t stop.
“Anakin, stop!” You pleaded. Your words seemed to have no effect on him as he continued, his eyebrows scrunching together as he knocked your saber out of your hand. He raises his lightsaber, ready to strike you down. With no weapon in hand and no way out, you use the force to push him back.
“WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?” You screamed at him once he was a good feet away from you.
Anakin wanted to tell you the truth. That loving you was his problem. That with each passing day, the feelings he had felt so many years for Padme, had nearly diminished. With your arrival, it felt like he had been reborn. He began to see life in a new light, maybe even cherished it more. And deep down, he knew that you were always meant to be his, and he was always meant to be yours. At night he would lie awake thinking of you, of what your lives could’ve been like together. Oh, how he would curse and scream at the stars for this twisted fate. But Anakin knew that he couldn’t be with you, no matter how much he wanted you.
He hated himself for being unfaithful to Padme, and in return he directed his internalized anger towards you, the source of his problems.
“You. Are. My. Problem.” He said, accusingly pointing his finger at you whilst stepping closer with each word he said.
“ME? I’m your problem?”
“Yes, you!.” He replied, pausing while trying to think of something to say. “I know what you’re trying to do, and it isn’t going to work. You’re trying to stray me away from my path. I will not indulge in your activities. I am loyal to the Jedi Order and my duties.” Anakin felt bad, he truly did. He didn’t want to lead you on, but it seemed like it was already too late.
“You're the one who kissed me!” How ironic, he’s only loyal to the Jedi, but apparently not to his wife.
“Because you seduced me!” He countered.
“I did no such thing.” You replied. “It wasn’t my fault that you saw me swinging my saber and got turned on. That’s on you Anakin. Also, if you have so many problems with training me, why don’t you ask the Council to swap you out for someone else?”
He opens his mouth, as if he’s going to reply, but it quickly shuts.
“Yeah, that’s what I thought.” You pick up your saber and exit the training room.
Now alone, he lays on the floor, with his limbs sprawled out while mindlessly staring at the ceiling. He knows that he’s just ruined every chance, no matter how small or big, of being with you in the future. Anakin could only beg the makers that one day, some very distant day, or possibly in another life, that the two of you would’ve been together.
-
You waste no time calling Fury when you return to your room. The device takes a while trying to connect with FRIDAY back on Earth, but she alerts Fury, along with Tony and Peter, that they had an incoming call from you.
Three faces pop up onto the hologram, Peter was basically screaming at you. You quickly greeted him back before telling them what just happened, or well the shortened version of what happened.
“I fucked up.”
“What do you mean fucked up?” Tony asks.
“Okay, so Fury, you know how like you told me to get close to Anakin-- but not really that close. Just close enough so that he could y’know, slaughter his fellow Jedi and the younglings but not me. And then he would eventually become big bad Daddy- oops hehe, sorry I meant Darth. Darth Vader. And kill all of these people with his extremely cool but extremely dangerous weapon. But not close enough that it would alter their timeline. Which doesn’t really make sense if you think about it. Like how do I get close to him without getting close to him, y’know? Also how am I supposed to know where Thanos-'' Your rambling gets cut off by Fury.
“Get to the point.” He says.
“Right…. so…. like I said, I did something and I fucked up. He basically wants nothing to do with me now.” You replied.
“I don’t care. Do whatever you need to do to get back on his good side. Use one of those mind tricks you learned if you need to.”
“Those won’t work on him.” You sighed, your body hunched over as you tried to think of possible solutions.
“Then do what you need to, or else I’ll be forced to take you off the mission. I don’t want to repeat myself again” Fury hands the device to Tony, “I’ll give you some time to speak with her. But I expect a plan the next time you call.” He says before leaving the room.
“So, how’s life over there treating you, Star?” Tony asks. “What happened between you and.. what do you call him? Flyguy? No, umm-”
“Listen, I don’t really want to talk about it. But besides that, it’s been okay. Not really different from back home. I wake up, eat, train, eat, explore, eat again, then go to sleep. Basically the same routine. The food here is alright, nothing compared to what I was eating back at home. But I’m grateful that they're giving me food and shelter.” The rest of your night was filled with chatter and laughter, the previous events from the grueling day slowly drifting away from your mind.
-
It’s been two weeks since Anakin had confronted you, and almost nothing had changed. Well except for those couple of days where you thought he had taken up on your suggestion, only for him to show up for a day of training then leave again. The first day he was gone, you thought nothing of it. Only that he might’ve needed some space. But another day passed and there was still no contact from him. Of course you could’ve taken this issue up to the Jedi Council, but what were they going to do? Offer to switch out Anakin for a Jedi Master? No, you wouldn't allow that to happen. Instead you tried to reach out to him using the bond you two shared, only to find yourself blocked off from the connection.
Without Anakin by your side, it felt as though you became vulnerable to your emotions and the dark side. More specifically, you could feel someone lingering in your head. It certainly wasn’t Anakin. This person, the force around them was dark. They commanded respect, power, and fear. The day they intruded your head was the very day you began having nightmares.
Your body was sprawled on the ground, as if someone had pushed you back. The ground is hardened, it makes you let out a groan. Propping yourself up on your elbows, you noticed the two figures in the distance. You could only see them below their collarbones, their faces were blurred.
One of them wore a dark robe while the other was wearing ordinary civilian clothing. It seemed like the two of them were arguing, particularly, they were arguing about you.
“You will not take her from me!” The man in the robe declared.
“She was never yours.” The other man calmly replied, his hands held up showing he did not want to fight, hoping the robed man would comply. He doesn’t, instead he stretches out his hand, using the force to bring the man into his grasp. He turns around the civilian, so that they are both facing you, and forces him to his knees.
“If I can’t have her, then you can’t either.” It was like time began to slow as he said those words. You could hear yourself sharply intake air as the man takes out his saber. All life around you goes to a standstill as you see a red light illuminate your surroundings, a blade protruding from the man's lower stomach. The sound of your own blood pumping is loud, but not as loud as the gasps emitting from the wounded man.
“KAZ!” You screamed, calling out for the man. It was then you realized that this person wasn’t you. You certainly didn’t know anyone with that name. Or perhaps this was someone you had yet to meet.
The robed figure retracts his saber, Kaz’s body falling in front of him. If you acted quickly, you could retrieve his body and save him.
“You see, Kaz. My intention from the beginning was to kill you. However, I think I’d like to watch you suffer instead.” That voice, it sounded so familiar, yet you couldn’t place your finger on who it was.
“What do you mean?” Kaz uttered weakly.
The man gave no response, only a glance towards Kaz before he began making his way towards you.
“No, stay away from her!” He pleaded.
The glow of his red saber became more clear then closer he got to you. The last thing you see is his saber coming your way before everything fades to black.
That night, you woke up drenched in sweat and panting as if you had just ran a marathon. If there was one thing that you understood, it was the fact that the force didn’t want you here. Your destiny was supposed to be fulfilled on Earth. Only time could tell you the consequences for trying to interfere. But you didn’t care, you were going to do whatever you could to save your friends.

Did some writing today so here's a Six Several Sentence Sunday post before bed.
Working on the next chapter of My Old Friend for a friend's birthday which was today but I have terrible time management skills and low key forgot until like last night that the chapter wasn't ready oops
Anyways, context: My Old Friend, the fem!Anakin AU in which I made everything Literally The Worst in the prequel, Hello Darkness, and my friend demanded I try and make things better. So I gave Anakin a baby Grogu to cope, and now she's scootin' around the galaxy picking up lost Jedi in the aftermath of the very short-lived Empire.
She's found a little precious child on Bracca and he is Traumatized, so she's gotta try and work around that. Plus bonus guest appearance, because I do all the cameos for gift fic.
I know, there are probably 1000 typos I haven't proofread this section yet.
Eyes wild and desperation and fear pouring off him, the padawan whirled around and held aloft a lightsaber. “Who are you? What do you want with me?”
Anakin approached slowly, holding out her empty hands. This wasn’t how she wanted things to go. Most lost Jedi she’d come across over the last couple years had been happy to see another Force user, but this padawan was too frightened to trust her on sight. Still she reached out carefully in the Force, brushing up against his shields with peace.
“I’m here to help you. I want to speak to you. Take you back to the Jedi, if you want.”
The padawan raised his saber. His grip was awkward on the hilt, it was a little too big for him, not built to fit his hands. Closer inspection showed it had been two-bladed at one point but was broken now. So not the padawan’s own saber, probably his master’s.
“Jedi don’t work with clones anymore! The Jedi are gone!”
Anakin took a step forward. He took a step back.
“Some Jedi survived. I know what you’re thinking. I know what you went through. Things have changed.” She reached out again in the Force, letting him see she meant no harm.
The blade wavered. “W-what are you?”
Anakin winced, she’d shown a little too much of her true self in the Force. She withdrew a half step. “I used to be a Jedi. I was Anakin Skywalker.”
“And what are you now?”
“I’m still her.”
“You’re Dark Side?”
“No. I am of the Force. I’m just… intense. Sorry about that.” Anakin dropped her hands to her sides slowly. The padawan lowered his lightsaber. “What’s your name?”
His eyes jumped warily around behind her. Anakin could sense the others had caught up. The clones’ presence had scared him, but he didn’t light his saber again. After a long moment, he offered, “I’m Cal. Cal Kestis.”
“Cal Kestis…” Anakin wracked her brain, remembering what information she had about Bracca. “You were Jaro Tapal’s padawan, weren’t you? You and your Master were protecting Bracca at the end of the war.”
Cal bowed his head. “Our clones, they—”
“I know, Cal. It happened everywhere, to everyone. But these clones, they’re different. They weren’t effected like the others.”
“All of the Jedi – I felt them all die like Master Tapal!” Cal sobbed.
Anakin approached slowly. “I know, Cal, I know exactly what you went through. They killed my Master too. I felt it all. But some Jedi survived. Some of them are like you, others were lucky, even some younglings escaped, like Grogu, look.” She was close enough now to touch Cal, but she didn’t. The Force warned her against touching the boy, he had that special aura around him that spoke of psychometry. Touch would be a terrible idea with her own memories of the Purge playing in her mind. So Anakin pointed to where Omega was holding Grogu on the skiff. The girl waved when Cal lifted his gaze.
“Jedi survived?” His lip quivered as he put together the new information. “B-but I never sensed anything. Why didn’t the Force tell me? I never got a message.”
Anakin looked at the padawan in the Force, his connection to the Force was ragged, torn and broken and hastily walled off in places – sloppy shields and blocks put up by an inexperienced padawan in the midst of the greatest trauma of his life. Rediscovering his connection would have to be a personal journey for the boy. There was nothing she could do for him.
“The Force brought me to you, Cal. That’s what I’ve been doing since the end of the Empire. I’ve been bringing Jedi back home. The Temple was destroyed, we weren’t able to contact everyone and call you home, but the Jedi have a new home. I can take you there, if you want.”

8, 34, 39, 58 for the Star Wars asks
8. Favourite Star Wars book?
In Legends, probably The Last Command. The Thrawn trilogy as a whole, tends to be the only one I recommend to non-super fans, it’s frequently the first one I recommended to people who were interested in books, and while pieces of it haven’t aged spectacularly (clone wars, prequels, etc), other pieces are quintessentially Star Wars to me, and it doesn’t feel right to not have them. I love Mara Jade’s storyline particularly in this final chapter. The journey and bickering, but slow gradual respect, her taking her life into her own hands and making her own decisions, and that final rooftop scene on Coruscant, hello, happiness. Runner up might be Conquest, just because I really, really love Anakin in that one or possibly Balance Point cause I am here for Solo family drama. I have super fond memories of the Corellian trilogy, but it’s been ages since I read them, so we’ll see how they hold up when I reread them. The last time I wandered in to fact check something I kept being distracted by how Anakin acts a LOT younger than he is supposed to be. Sometimes people can’t write kids. So.
In Canon, probably Bloodline. I don’t love that Han and Luke are kind of non-entities throughout it, but I do really love Claudia Gray’s characterization of Leia. I really like the story, and a number of the characters written into the story, so I think it gets pushed to the top for those reasons.
34. Who would your best friend be?
Well, in RL my husband has a lot of Luke Skywalker in him. So there is that. But otherwise give me a nice circle of fabulous legendary and canon ladies to chill and drink caf with. Mara, and Leia, and Mirax, and Winter, and Evaan, and Greer, and Jyn and I will all go for throwing punches, flying fast things, and spa days.
39. 1 lightsaber, 2 lightsabers, double lightsaber, or 2 double lightsabers?
2 (purple bladed) lightsabers. Ahsoka can do it, Anakin Solo can do it, that’s what I want out of life.
58. Top 5 saddest Star Wars deaths?
Anakin fucking Solo. 10/10 levels of cruelty. Leia breaking down across the galaxy. Jaina and Jacen getting gut punched. Tahiri ;-; I will never be over it. Just kill me now.
Order 66. It gets me in the stomach ever time, I can’t deal with it. All the Jedi and the younglings and the emotions, and I know this is a LOT of deaths not just one, but I still can’t do.
Han Solo. I guessed it was coming because Harrison Ford and he walked out on that bridge so of course but I was still all tears because I have a lot of Solo feels, and Leia’s reaction from forever away, and she’s all by herself now, and her son is a messed up mess, and just brb crying forever.
Rogue One everyone. Like. I really don’t remember at what point I realized that none of them was getting out, but then I did, and then I was crying. Oops.
Mara Jade is at the end, because, my anger about the choices made with her character interferes with my sadness. But that damn line about her brushing Luke’s face and then being gone or whatever it is gets me despite my overall anger about that entire Fridging Plot Line. ARGH.
Honorable mentions, Uncle Owen & Aunt Beru, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Jacen Solo. And I have a lot of feels about Alderaan too.
Thanks for the ask!
