Note
Metaverse teleports into Artem’s house, obviously frazzled.
“You have no idea how much of a life saver you are.” They say, picking themself off the ground. “I did NOT want to talk to that guy.” With the way they say “that guys,” you would think they were talking about a rogue or the Joker himself, not Timothy Drake-Wayne.
He lands in the foyer of the Manson Manor. Startling Artem a bit.
“Oh! Hi Metaverse, of course. You’re welcome here anytime, let me take you to the kitchen it can be easy to get lost”

You'll also learn about SEO, including how organic and paid searches work, how to set up Google analytics, and how to optimise your website for search engines, in addition to these basic web design skills. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
Once you've mastered the basics, you can move on to more advanced topics such as creating complex animations and interactions, as well as a variety of other lessons that will help you stand out in your design work. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
Webflow puts everything you'll need to build responsive websites in front of you, even if you don't know anything about HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. The Webflow University courses break down the fundamentals and include step-by-step guidance to help you become the designer you've always wanted to be. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
2. Creating a Clean & Simple Website with Webflow
With Creating a Clean & Simple Website with Webflow, Jan Losert, a talented Czech designer, has put together a detailed online web design course. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
He demonstrates the fundamentals by demonstrating how to design and create a startup community website step by step. Jan seems to be truly enthusiastic about architecture, and his upbeat demeanour makes all of these lessons inspiring to watch. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
He not only walks you through every step of the process, but he also makes the whole website free to clone. This allows you to see how the different elements fit together and how the whole page design works together. Understanding these principles is much simpler when you work on this simplified, real-world example rather than beginning with something too ambitious. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
These lessons go into the main design concepts that everybody should be aware of. A few of the topics covered include navigation, calls to action, div blocks, SEO, and responsive web design. This free online course has a lot to offer, and even if you have little experience, you'll find something useful.
If you want to learn how to build websites, you shouldn't start with anything too difficult. Jan's Creating a Clean & Simple Website with Webflow is a great place to start because it's a simple project with a lot of features.
3. The Webflow Masterclass WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
Flux Academy's creator, Ran Segall, epitomises what it means to be a self-employed web designer. He brings both experience and skills as someone who understands graphic design, what it takes to work with customers, and how to run a company. His premium Webflow Masterclass combines all of his knowledge into a course that is both educational and inspirational for any aspiring web developer. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
The underlying thread that runs through this coursework is an entrepreneurial spirit. Learning how to build personalised websites not only makes you a better designer, but it also allows you to charge more for your services. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
Along with tutorials in learning about web design and Webflow, there's other materials to help you out in your career. One of the hardest things when you're blazing the trail as a freelance designer is figuring out how much to charge. There’s a discussion dedicated to pricing your own work. This mix of teaching design skills, and navigating other aspects of the job, makes this a well rounded
This online course is a celebration of the no-code movement as well as a way to expand your skills. Ran's philosophy is to use Webflow to open new doors to innovation and sales by moving beyond the bounds of templates. This is a positive message for any web designer, regardless of where they are in their career. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
4. Memorisely
It's like working in building and not knowing architecture if you're a web designer and don't know anything about UX or UI design. You can put something together that has a structure, but it's difficult to know if it'll be a functional space that people would enjoy traversing
The emotional experience of a website is formed by UX, while the controls and pathways to navigate through it are created by UI. Both disciplines take the raw materials of a page design and bring them together in such a way that working through it is enjoyable for the user.
Also for those with a lot of experience, it's easy to get the terms UI and UX mixed up. You should be aware that UX (user experience) refers to how the user flow and information layout of a website affects anyone scrolling through it.
You should also be aware that UI (user interface) is concerned with the accessibility of menus and buttons, as well as their visual styling. Being able to speak about UI and UX without sounding like a fool increases people's confidence in you as a web designer.
Memorisely provides training in both to better educate you and extend your knowledge of these web design disciplines.
Memorisely provides 6-week part-time bootcamps as well as monthly ebooks that cover different aspects of user interface and user experience design. These ebooks are particularly useful for those who want to stay up to date on new technologies and ideas, and they provide models (some of which are Webflow) to demonstrate these concepts. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
5. Design + Code
Wow, that was incredible. On Design+Code, there are plenty of interesting courses to choose from. If you want to learn React, Vue, After Effects, or Webflow, there are plenty of resources available. WebsiteDesignCourseInDelhi
Other subjects appealing to creatives include sound design, video editing, software design, and game production, which can be found in their list of courses. It's like going to a warehouse store for design geeks and techies, with racks stacked with goodies to help you learn new skills.
Their free Webflow course walks you through the process of creating a functional website. This isn't a bare-bones, uninteresting website created solely for the purpose of learning, but a fully functional website with multiple pages containing interactions, CMS info, and payment processing. Webflow assets are given, making it simple to follow along with and experiment with the template on your own.
Conversions are emphasised in this online course. It explains how to improve the user experience by using content, calls to action, and integrating customer input. It's all too tempting for new web designers to get caught up in the visual aspect of things and forget these design concepts that aid conversions.
6. Design. Build. Launch.
Caler Edwards' Design. Build. Launch has a lot to recommend it. Designing with Webflow is the subject of a YouTube collection. One of the best aspects of this online course is that you can receive your own portfolio page upon completion. You will not only learn about the web design process, but you will also take home something useful. Another fantastic feature of this web series is that it starts the design process with the free Adobe XD app. Caler demonstrates how to wireframe as well as some of the fundamentals of UX and UI design.
This is a good place to start because it gives you some practical theory before you start designing. Keeping these principles in mind when you start creating a page template with Webflow will help you understand what you're doing better.
The course then walks you through the process of creating a web design step by step. You'll learn how to add linked navigation, practise responsive web design, and bring together elements to build your layout.
The series' final video discusses SEO, which is critical for organic scope. This is one of the most enigmatic aspects of web design, but Caler makes these principles simple to grasp.
He goes into how to use Webflow to add title tags, meta descriptions, and how social media's open graph systems operate. This is an easy step to overlook when creating the first website.
  7. Learn UI/UX
Learnux.io has a number of web design courses available. When you first visit their website, you'll be greeted with fresh and enjoyable scroll activated animations, interactions, and smart page design, all of which make a strong first impression. You know you've found the right place to learn about these aspects of web design because the UI and UX are so well thought out.
New designers who want to understand how CSS and HTML work will benefit from the HTML/CSS lessons in particular. Knowing how to understand the nuances of cascading style sheets will help you understand how they function when you're using them in places like Webflow.
From the fundamentals of UX and usability to prototyping and handoff, these video courses cover every aspect of the design process, ensuring that beginners have the skills they need to create their first website.
Begin with web design courses and end up a designer
When you first decide to learn how to be a web designer, the path ahead of you can seem intimidating. Essential concepts like UI and UX design, graphic design, CSS, HTML5, responsive web design, and design guidelines to follow are all laid out in front of you. If you've ever wanted to be a designer, there are a plethora of classes and design platforms available, including Figma, Adobe XD, and Webflow.
If you’ve ever wanted to be a designer, there are so many classes and design platforms like Figma, Adobe XD, and Webflow that can help you on your way.
Let us know in the comments below if there are any other web design courses you think aspiring web designers should know about!

Zerhys prompt: dinner party
(Okay so just a heads up, this prompt request will be split into parts!  I was writing the dinner party out and it was just getting much to long, so here is part 1!)
(Slight AU in which Zer0 and Rhys’ friends have no idea they are dating each other.)
Rhys had been trying to keep his relationship with his current datefriend a secret from his friends.  It wasn’t that he was ashamed of Zer0 or anything like that, he just knew his friends could be very judgemental.  Vaughn and Yvette were overprotective and Sasha and Fiona were skeptical of just about anything.  He wouldn’t be surprised if they somehow thought Zer0 was just using him for free weapons or whatever.
On the other hand, Zer0 had also kept their relationship a secret from their friends.  Okay, secret was a strong word, they just never told them.  When Rhys had asked out of sheer curiosity Zer0 shrugged and stated “They have not asked me.”  Which in Zer0 terms was a pretty valid argument.  Rhys also had no right to judge since he had been actively avoiding telling his own friends.
Rhys would have honestly been content with just keeping quiet for another year, maybe two, but he got too comfortable.
You see, Zer0 was still one of the best assassins out there, so Rhys often hired them for missions.  He strictly forbade all romantic interactions when on Atlas property.  Rhys excuse was that he had an ‘image to maintain.’  Zer0 had for some reason found that hilarious, but respected his wishes.
Then Rhys got greedy.
He figured a little flirting was fine as long as he was in the office.  He wanted to blame Zer0, since they had originally instigated with heart emojis and suggestive banter but it was really his own fault.  Rhys had to admit that he was a huge sap and that ended up being his downfall.  After giving Zer0 another assignment, Rhys had leaned over and quickly kissed their helmet.  It was something so simple, just a quick peck, but of course Yvette had to open the door at that EXACT moment.
Before Rhys could explain, Yvette briefly apologized, left some papers on his desk and left.  Rhys silently hoped that she wouldn’t mention it once Zer0 left, and she didn’t.  However an hour later he got many angry texts and voicemails from Sasha and Fiona and also Vaughn coming into his office screaming about “Making out with a highly trained assassin who could kill you in seconds!”
They didn’t take the news well.  Overall, they seemed more upset that he didn’t say anything and assumed the reason was because Zer0 was secretly holding him hostage. (“Blink twice if you’re in trouble.” Sasha had joked at one point).  They were all very adamant about meeting his new partner so they could “size them up” as they put it, whatever that means.
Okay so that was fine.  He knew he had to go through this at some point.  He hadn’t expected to keep their relationship a secret forever after all.  Also, he could handle his friends.  He knew that at the end of the day they just wanted the best for him and even if for some reason they didn’t approve of Zer0, he would tell them that it wasn’t their choice to make.
No, what really threw him off guard was when after he returned home and received a knock on his door.  Opening it revealed Zer0 covered in blood.
“Are you okay?” Rhys asked on reflex.  It was a silly question really, the blood on their suit was clearly not theirs.  Still, Rhys felt the need to make sure.
“We have a problem.” Zer0 said walking in.
“Zer0…” Rhys scolded as blood dripped onto the floor.  Thank goodness the apartment was hard wood.
“Sorry, I’ll help clean later.”  They promised.
“Okay good you know how squeamish I get.” Rhys said with a smile, but it fell from his face when Zer0 didn’t follow up with a witty comment.  “What’s wrong?”
“Do not freak out Rhys.”
That was not the right thing to say, as Rhys was already pre freaking out. “What? What happened?”
Zer0 shifted from one leg to another, a habit Rhys noticed they had whenever dealing with awkward or uncomfortable conversation. “My friends are aware / we are dating. Meeting is / inevitable. “
Rhys paused as he processed the information.  And then the panic began to set in. “So you’re telling me that not only do my friends want to meet you but now your friends want to meet me?” Rhys groaned. “This is the worst case scenario.  What if your friends don’t like me? What if they think I’m lame? What if they help you realize how lame I really am and you break up with me because I am so lame.”
“I’m fully aware / of how lame you currently / are. I still like you.” [ :) ]
Rhys raised an eyebrow. “Is that suppose to make me feel better?”  Zer0 nodded. “It doesn’t.” [ :( ] “Okay… it does but just a little!” [:D]
“My comrades often / spend time at Moxxi’s.  I can / accompany you.”
“No no no.” Rhys groaned. “Sanctuary is basically there turf.  They know the layout the best.  No, we should all meet at least on equal ground. Oh, better yet let’s meet up in a place they’ve never been!  It’ll throw them off guard.  Unfamiliar territory, that’s a thing right?”
“They’re not enemies.” [:/]
“I know that! I just feel it would be easier for everyone to meet each other somewhere I’m comfortable in. It’ll help me be less nervous.  Oh! We could get everything out of the way and invite my friends too!  Most of them already know who you are after the traveler mission but they don’t KNOW know you.  And then our friends could meet each other! Hopefully keep each other busy and keep some attention off us, the perfect strategy.”
[?] “You’re overthinking again.”
Rhys shook his head. “Zer0 this is your first time around the relationship rodeo isn’t it? You have no idea how big of a deal this moment is!  I mean our friends meeting us and also each other is like, it’s like in movies when the couples family meet each other.  If for whatever reason they hate each other or the other’s partner that’s it!  Wacky Shenanigans that lead to complete turmoil and potential ending of relationships!”
Zer0 was almost positive that Rhys was blowing things out of proportion.  Rhys was known for being a bit dramatic.  Still, they had spend many nights in watching movies and TV shows with Rhys.  Plus, Zer0 still didn’t fully understand human relationship customs.  Maybe Rhys had a point…  “It’s that serious?”
“Yes! That is what I’ve been trying to tell you.”
Zer0 nodded in understanding.  “Then we should come up with a / strategy.  Ideas?”
Rhys grinned.  “Now you’re talking!  As I was saying, if we have everyone meet at the same time not only would it get both awkward encounters out the way, but also draw some attention off us.  But we need to set up a place to meet where you and I are both comfortable.  That will throw both of our friend groups off guard.  That’s going to be pretty tough though…”
Zer0 tried to think of a place that would be new to both parties, make them slightly uncomfortable, and give the two of them the advantage.  The struggle was Zer0’s friends were vastly different from Rhys’ so it didn’t leave a lot of options.  Zer0 turned to look around the apartment.  “Have any of your / friends visited this place yet?”  Zer0 asked.  Rhys had recently got a new apartment with his new Atlas money.
Rhys shook his head no. “Only Vaughn, he helped me move in.  No one else has seen it yet.  Why?”  [:D] “Oh my gosh Zer0 you are absolutely brilliant, I could kiss the beautiful mask of yours.”
“Later.” [;)] “First we must /  think of a way to /  convince them to come without  / raising suspicion.”
“Okay let me think, what can I offer here that can simultaneously  convince a bunch of vault hunters and former Hyperion now Atlas employees to come over to my apartment?” Rhys questioned.
“Something in common?” [?]
Rhys bit his lip. “Something they all have in common? Uh they’re all human?” Rhys joked. [:/]   “Yeah sorry that wasn’t funny.  Alright um-”  Rhys glanced over at his unused kitchen and snapped his fingers. “Food! That’s what they have in common they all love food! Right?”  He turned towards Zer0 for confirmation and was reinvigorated when Zer0 nodded.  “Alright I have the perfect idea! A dinner party! It can be semi formal.  You know, not too formal but formal enough to make everyone uncomfortable.”
Zer0 didn’t looked impressed.  “Rhys, you cannot cook.  At all.”
Rhys scoffed. “I can cook alright?  I can make basic stuff.”
“You will need food for / at the very least / ten people.  I am unsure / if it’s possible.”
“Yvette is great at cooking so I’ll just ask for some of her recipes.  How hard is it to follow a recipe.” [ … ] “Come on Ze, have a little faith in me? Please?”  With that Rhys batted his eyes at the assassin.
Zer0 still seemed unconvinced, but they showed their support with a heart emoji. [  “I will assist in / anyway I can.  When should / We host the event?”
“Can you see if your friends will be free this Saturday night?  It’ll give us time to get the ingredients and do any prepping.  It’ll also give everyone time to find something formal to wear.”
Zer0 pulled up their Echo and began to send messages to everyone in the vault hunter squad.  “I’ve notified them / I should hear back shortly.  Are / you sure about this?”  Zer0 asked.  It was more of a formality since they had already sent the invitations.
Rhys laughed nervously.  “As sure as I’ll ever be.  Operation dinner party is a go.  Don’t worry, we are going to nail this.”
They weren’t going to nail this.
(That’s it for part 1! I am definitely going to continue this so keep a lookout!

Hey, gang! Could you give us an idea of what the schedule/timeline looks like? :D
Hi! Yeah, I can try to do that!
A lot of it is pretty flexible and tentative right now, partly because we might extend sign-ups (depending on how many people we get by April 10th), and partly because I genuinely can’t say how long it’s all going to take. I’ve got some experience in running this kind of project from Seasons, but this is on a completely different scale with different people and content and requirements, so I can’t say for sure how well that’ll transfer.
But anyways- I can give some rough estimates based on what I’m imagining right now. All of it is up for discussion/suggestions, though, if it seems too long/short in any places, so definitely let me know!
After sign-ups are done, it’ll probably take a week or so to go through them all and figure out which people are going to be involved, and then to contact them after that. From there, the timeline kind of depends on what role you’re playing, since some will be dependant on other content being finished.
Anybody writing any kind of fic, poetry, or article will probably have about two months to do so, and ditto for fan art (I’m not an artist and know very little about the whole art-ing process, so if that’s too restrictive, then please let me know). For articles involving outside sources- this’ll mostly apply to convention stuff and maybe episode coverage, too- the timelines will be similar, but probably a bit more flexible in the case of waiting on content from other people, or waiting for events (such as cons) to happen before actually being able to write about them. We’ll have check-ins and the like along the way to make sure that everybody’s on track, probably at 2-3 week intervals.
For actually putting together the zine- this largely applies to anybody who wants to help with layout, as well as any beta-reading or similar jobs- that two-month period will also be available for them to work, if they’re able, but since a layout needs content before it can be fully finished, they’ll probably have 2-4 weeks after those two months to finish up the designing and any editing needed. After that, it’ll just be a matter of tying everything together and making sure everything is as it should be for the finished zine.
So overall, we’re looking at (tentatively, hopefully, maybe) a three-month working time for the one issue. That’s my goal, anyways, and as I said, I’m definitely open to suggestions/criticisms. There are going to be a lot of different working parts for this project, so figuring out how to manage them all and making sure that everybody has enough time to get their job done is going to be an ongoing thing- I’m less worried about getting this out by a specific date, and more worried about making sure that it’s as good as it can be, and that people have the time they need to provide the best content possible.

Jeff Skinner-Not Her (Part 1)
HEY!!! This is gonna be series so I’m hoping it’ll be pretty long!!! I’m really looking forward to this, and I hope you all like Jeff too.
Requested: Nope
Warnings: Lmao probably swearing this entire series
Up Next: Part two until I have ideas for the few requests I have
Summary: Main character is the daughter of the coach and she and Jeff have crushes on each other. However there are two problems; She isn’t allowed to date team members and he has a girlfriend.
Tumblr media
I sat in the passenger seat, absentmindedly tapping my foot to the music. My father, Bill Peters, is driving me to the arena to watch the players for my first time. I’ve wanted to go for ages but he never let me, not even after I graduated college. But he’s letting me go now because I can work with Carolina with their media.
“Next time we go to morning skate, you’ll be driving yourself.” My dad says to me when we pull into his parking spot.
“Alright, I’m assuming that you aren’t going to show me around. Right?” I ask him when we start walking in the arena.
“Sorry Y/N. I’ll see if one of the players want to since you’ll have to get to know them eventually.” I nod and look around. It’s a big arena and I know that I’ll end up getting lost.
“Hey coach. Who’s this?” I turn and see a player walk up to my dad and gesture to me.
“Hey Skinner, this is my daughter. She is going to be working here from now on for Media purposes. Actually, do you think that you could show her around?” My dad asks while pulling me up and in front of Jeff.
“Sure thing,” Once my dad walks away we fully introduce ourselves.”I’m Jeff Skinner. It’s nice to meet you.” He reaches his hand out and I shake it.
“I’m Y/N, it’s nice to meet you too.” I smile at him and he smiles back. Wow he has a nice smile.
“Well this is the main area of the arena. Follow me and I’ll show you the offices upstairs.” He keeps smiling and walks ahead up the stairs and down a hall that no one else is allowed. ( I have no idea what the layout is omg I’m sorry)
“This place is huge, I know for a fact that I’ll be lost here later.” I say to him while I walk beside him.
“Nah, you’ll get the hang of it pretty quickly. And if you ever need help then ask me.”
“Thank you.” Jeff is still smiling.
“I believe that this is going to be your office.” I whirl around and look at him in shock.
“My office? I wasn’t aware that I was going to get one.”
“Well the last media person we had, had this office and I’m assuming that you’ll be taking it.” Damn, I’ll have to remember that.
“Thank you so much for showing me around so far. What’s next?”
“It’s no problem, next is the locker room.” I feel my face drain as that’s the exact place I was dreading to go to.
We walk back downstairs and past a door that leads to the viewing areas and into another door that’s closed and says employees only. There are stairs that Jeff goes down that lead to yet another door. He opens the second door, pokes his head in and then opens it the rest of the way. I walk in before him and see the team standing in front of their belongings and looking at me.
“Hey Jeff, this your girlfriend?” One of the players ask smirking. I look at Jeff with a blush on my cheeks just to see that he’s blushing too.
“No, Jordan. This is the coaches daughter.” He explains and I hear a chorus of ohs.
“Uhm, I’m Y/N. I’ll be working here with media or more specifically the social media portion.” I give a small wave and some of the players walk up to me.
“Jordan Staal.”
“Justin Faulk.”
“Noah Hanifin.”
“Sebastian Aho.”
“Elias Lindholm.”
“Scott Darling.”
“Teuvo Teravainen”
“Marcus Kruger.”
“Trevor Van Riemsdyk.”
I shake all of their hands and smile shyly. About half of the team doesn’t even bother introducing themselves.
“Y/N, come here I have something to tell you.” I hear my dad say from across the room. I walk over to him and see him smiling.
“Hey dad. What is it?”
“Come out here first,” He leads me into the nearly empty hallway. “You are going to get your own office and this pass for games and other events.”I smile widely and hug him.
Maybe this job won’t be as scary as I thought.
Sorry it’s so short and bad. Tell me if I should keep going!!!

Grow lights complete review!
If you're looking for the Greatest LED Grow Lights and full spectrum grow lights to your grow room, let us help you select one. We know that it's a significant investment so we've hand-picked the very best LED grow lights available on the marketplace. Whatever your growing needs, you can locate a light here to match.
Below, you'll find award winners, bestsellers, budget options, supplemental lights, lighting for smaller spaces or large grow rooms, as well as the lights most preferred by our readers--in other words, the lights other manufacturers like you're already utilizing to get results.
You may get more information about the best way to get started growing cannabis indoors from our totally free e-book (get it in the sidebar on the right), and from our routine reviews of this best Grow tents, finest nutrientsalong with other top tools and equipment for your growing operation.
Get bigger, better buds faster!
Why is the best LED grow light for inside growing success?
Choosing the best lighting for your grow room depends on a few factors. You will need a light strong enough to cover the region where you grow, which may vary based on if you've got a dedicated space for seedlings and clones, or if your weed grows to adulthood in one area.
Another factor is whether you want an all-purpose light, or if you plan to supplement it with other lamps for veg and flowering.
If you're especially searching for low running costs or stealth climbing, then LED grow lights are extremely much your friends.
At length, at least with LED grow lights you do not have to think about replacing bulbs, dealing with ballast, or running too hot. All those things were issues with HID HPS lights but they are not an issue with LEDs.
Let's take a better look at the very best LED grow lightsand to help you opt for the best lighting for the grow space we'll be certain to include details of policy area. And if you want to inspect coverage regions at a glimpse, just have a peek at the table over.
How to choose the best LED grow light
Here are a Few of the most important things to Remember when choosing an LED grow light to increase cannabis:
The area you need to pay: The first thing you should remember is the area which has to be coated. By knowing this, you can choose how many LED lighting you will need, and which kind of LEDs will supply you the best coverage. In order to cover more room, more lights can be placed next to one another. The stages of the plant expansion: If you need a full growth cycle, you can pick a full-spectrum LED grow light to help in all stages. Or several lights have switches and/or dimmers for each grow phase. Angle of the LED lens: Also look for the angle of dispersion within the LED bulbs. The greater angles imply more protection while the lesser angles mean less dispersion and more direct light. Your budget: Factor in the qualities that are necessary for you and the total amount of money you're ready to invest--both up front and on working costs. An LED grow light can be costly up front, but can save you money long term thanks to the much lower running costs. Select lights grow?
The reason is straightforward.
Complete spectrum LED grow lights are a relatively new product on the market and many growers aren't really that comfortable with these brand new lighting systems. Many men and women think the giant fluorescent lamps or HPS and Metal Halide lamps are the best grow lights to utilize over a indoor growing marijuana garden, but they aren't. Full spectrum light systems have the advantage, as:
Yes, we are serious. You wear them outside, right? Remember, these lights are powerful!
Nutrients, even plants need their own vegetables and minerals. The nutrients you provide them do not just have an effect on yield, they affect taste. Don't have poop-flavored bud. Choose your plants' nutrients wisely.
Grow Airplane. Yes, it is a fantastic idea even if you're currently growing into a closet or enclosed area. It's easier to control the climate for your weed with a tent. You can protect them from stray light sources when they're supposed to be in the dark and you protect yourself out of their light when you're supposed to be sleeping. Additionally, it retains humidity under control and smells, too.
Perhaps you think only advanced growers use them, but you may use a single, also. Then when you're advanced, you'll already know how.
Obviously that you wish to be aware of the neighboring states in your grow tent. We picked the most up-to-date version on the market to show you. It'll last you for several years.
Here are the Top LED Grow Lights for the Money: Our Editors' Choices for 2018
We picked our listing of LED grow lights depending on the results they revealed and attributes they provide.
We also have taken into account variables like consumer reviews, industry awards and a good look at which lighting have proven most popular with our readers.
Finally, below our Top 10 Recommendations, you'll find some great budget options too, some supplementary lights for flowering, and a collection of mature lights for small spaces.
Advanced LED Diamond Series XML 350 -- Editor's Choice 2018 Check Latest Prices on Amazon
Last year our Editor's Choice went to PlatinumLED's Platinum Series P900. We still love it, it is a fantastic light. However, for 2018 we are going together with all the Advanced LED Diamond Series XML 350 instead. For two reasons:
The brand new Diamond Series is much better! No question. You still will not go wrong with PlatinumLED's P-Series lights, but using all the Diamond Series Advanced have surpassed themselves. We've noticed a vast majority of our subscribers favor relatively smaller lights (600W HID equivalents and under), so we're following suit with our recommendations. But don't worry, most of the lights we've selected--including this one--are also available in larger models. OK then.
These are the Large update vs. PlatinumLED's Platinum Collection. We are talking super-bright, reliable, top manufacturer LEDs.
As a result of its collection of processors, the full spectrum Diamond Series now boasts a 14+ wavelength spectrum (including UV and IR), to give your cannabis every kind of light it requires for large yields and dense, potent, flavorful buds. It is possible to use it at each stage of this grow.
Moreover, the XML 350 can replace a 600 into 800W HID light for an average draw of just 330W. Meaning over 50 percent less heating, no requirement for extra cooling and big savings on your electric bill.
Other attributes:
Daisy-chain around four units on a single cord Patented heat sinks, whisper quiet fans, dust filter and air flow vents--to keep LEDs working perfectly for longer Clone, veg and flower manners--colour pick dimmable switches Modular layout--sure faults can be corrected without sending the whole unit away for fix 3-Year Warranty, 90-day Money Back Guarantee, hassle-free returns US Sales and Support team Finally, let's talk policy: The 10W CREE LEDs boast precision 90-degree XML Collimator lenses for optimum coverage. This device can comfortably cover a maximum grow distance of 4.5′ x 4.5′, with core coverage of 4′ x 4′--or 16 to 20 plants. Which is more than sufficient for home growers in many U.S. states, as an example. PAR when hung at 18″ is a exceptional 1395 and 987 at 24″ for a 4′ x 4′ space.
In case the XML350 isn't the cost point or coverage you're searching for, no problem. The XML lights are Advanced's flagship lights, but the Diamond Series has lots of different alternatives available in its range.
The slightly cheaper Diamond collection XTE lights unite Osram LEDs and 5W CREEs. While standard entry-level Diamond Series lights use Bridgelux LEDs only. You'll notice, however, that in all three instances all of the LED chips nonetheless come from reputable manufacturers and are American-made.
VIPARSPECTRA Reflector-Series 300W -- Our Readers' Favorite Check Latest Prices on Amazon
The VIPARSPECTRA V300 continues to be pleasing a great deal of customers since it strikes the ideal balance of features for the money--in fact, among our subscribers it's the Number 1 seller!
What we believe Viparspectra lights do this well is being cheap without too much compromise.
Plus it feels like you guys agree. In fact, VIPARSPECTRA has completely five lights among our Top 10 vendors!
In summary: Viparspectra is doing something right.
As for the V300 especially, this is a cheap full spectrum (12 wavelengths, such as IR) light which can replace a 250W HID lighting while drawing just 136W.
The LEDs are good quality, high-intensity 5W Bridgelux and Epileds chips, using a lifespan of 100,000 hours. A 90° lens angle assists cover a grow area of 2′ x two′ suspended at 24″ and 1.5′ x 1.5′ at 18″ with no hotspots. And PAR when hung in 24″ is 300 in the center of the footprint.
Other characteristics include daisy-chaining, a 3-year guarantee and a 30-day satisfaction or return guarantee.
Finally, if you would like an integrated timer, dimmable veg and bloom channels, a remote control to program your lighting, marginally lower average draw at the wall and an extra half-foot of policy, the VT300 only costs a small amount extra. It's ultra-convenient and gives you that extra little customizability to fully optimize your growing.
Read our entire review here.
Check Latest Prices on Amazon
Second biggest seller among our subscribers, the VIPARSPECTRA V600 is the larger brother of the v300. It comes with all the same features, in addition to the addition of separate veg and bloom switches.
Replacing a 600W HID light and drawing only 269W on average, the V600 may pay an increase region of 3′ x 3′ suspended at 32″ and 2.5′ x 2.5′ in 22″. At the center of this light's footprint, PAR in 24″ is 530, 275 at 36″ and 784 in 18″.
Again you can upgrade for remote management programmability, built-in timer and even superior coverage--in this case, to the bar-shaped VT600.
Or the VT600-S has the same square shape and the same coverage as the V600, but the very best PAR values of 3 V600 choices.
Check Latest Prices on Amazon
I guess you would need to call this one the middle kid, size-wise.
It provides you protection of 2.5′ x 2.5′ hung at 24″ and 2′ x 2′ at 18″, and also the various PAR values are 415 and 655.
Again, it's separate veg and blossom buttons. And there's a VT version, the VT450, a thinner longer light which gives coverage of 3.5′ x 2.5′ in 28″ and two′ x two′ at 20″ and PAR in 24″ of 396.
In our opinion, PlatinumLED's Platinum Series of grow lights was surpassed by Advanced LED's Diamond Series (see above), but the Platinums remain outstanding lights, have been consistently popular with our readers and are widely accessible. So we are very happy to highlight them also.
As if we believe the Diamond Series currently has the edge, PlatinumLED is a reliable, established company making excellent lights. They always uses high quality parts and build from the USA. But, with the Diamond collection Advanced have simply taken the high component quality up still another two or three.
Like Advanced LED, their lights are not the cheapest. Nonetheless that additional quality and reliability makes them well worthwhile. And they're often more affordable than the Diamond Series.
Check Latest Prices on Amazon
All of the grow lights in the Platinum Series use radical full-spectrum technology to maintain your grow room and plants trendy while fulfilling all their light needs.
The P900 includes 12 bands of light wavelengths such as ultraviolet and infrared, the parts you can't see with the naked eye. This panel, and many others like it in the multiplier lineup, is about as near sun since you can get indoors. However, this isn't a one-trick pony. This panel is fantastic for every stage of developing cannabis.
Shifting included You are able to keep it low-key for sprouting by hitting the "Veg" change, or kick up the intensity by turning the switch to "Bloom." The 90-degree angle of the LED working lenses pushes down the light to the canopy of the plants. This encourages massive growth.
It may replace a 1000 watt HPS lighting at full intensity and still just use 515 levels of power. The average cost of electricity in the united states is approximately 12 cents per kilowatt-hour. Running a 1000 watt HPS costs you 12 cents every hour and what you will cover to cool it. However, conducting the P900 provides the same or better light quality and durability at half that cost.
After the P900 is suspended at 18-inches over the plants, its core policy reaches 3 ft. Its maximum protection is 4 by 6 feet. You could be asking what those numbers really mean to you. At different stages of development, you are going to be raising or lowering the light according to what your plants need. For instance, you are able to cover up to 4 feet. But at more intensive phases like flowering, you'll cover less place because you want more intense light. An adult cannabis plant takes up at least 1 square foot of space in a 3-gallon pot, so the P900 can blossom between 12 to a maximum of 24 at one time.
This definitely isn't a budget light system. But we like that the P1200 LED drivers work anywhere in the world. PlatinumLED provides among the better warranties on the current market, using a 90-day money-back guarantee and 5-year total warranty.
Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
For among the most advanced grow lights we have ever used, think about the Platinum Series P600. This grow light is a hefty investment, but many growers will concur that premium outcomes are worth a premium price tag. The build on this really is durable and simple to establish. It is one of the greatest LED grow lights to purchase (see also: "Best LED Grow Lights 2018 & Reviews in the LED Grow Lights Pros" on Big Buds Guide), if you have the money to invest on your plants. The core policy area is about 2 feet by 5 ft, so you can hit the "Bloom" switch for about 5 to 10 plants, max.
The Platinum Series combines extreme light and strong fans so your plants don't burn off. The light is intense enough you could physically see it penetrate the crops -- an impressive feat. Further, these lights include something completely unheard of: A 5-year guarantee and exceptional customer service provided by the company directly. Together with the energy savings against an 800W HPS alone, this unit will pay for itself before the warranty runs out.
PlatinumLED Platinum Series P300 -- Readers' Choice 4th Place For people who love the P600 but don't have that large of a budget or dimensions of a rise tent, the Platinum Series P300 is a fantastic runner-up--and currently the 4th greatest seller one of our readers!
This is certainly a cheaper LED grow light that offers many of the same advantages as the P600, but at around half the price.
Its policy is roughly 4.5 ft by 3.8 ft at an 18-inch elevation, ideal for compact grow areas, or if used in combination with additional lamps for bigger regions. This mild panel effectively replaces a 400W HPS light, while just actually using 180 watts of electricity--making it an energy efficient alternative to your traditional light. It's just perfect for your small home grower. Just as the P600 signifies the higher end of the market, this is still a serious piece of gear--almost a steal for the amazing coverage you get.
PAR values This is a system that has a great high PAR output. What exactly does that mean? Well it means the panel provides off about 2-3 days the intensity of additional mature lights.
What's more, it has an 11 band spectrum which gives your marijuana plants the maximum nutritional value for example those needed from UV and IR. The light chips are 3W LEDs, and as I've mentioned before, the finest 3-watt panels have an additional lens to concentrate the light a bit more. This panel comes with a 60-degree lens and secondary 90-degree working lens to provide more intensity for plant development.
The processors in this lamp are also replaceable and another reason for the slightly higher price tag. As a consequence, that you may always maintain that 400-watt output, even when a chip blows. Just order the 1 chip and replace it when it comes from the manufacturer. With a 5-year guarantee, Advanced LED offers security to their clients.

Rounding out our Top 5 vendors is MarsHydro's 300W offering. MarsHydro have 8 years in the business and a growing reputation.
The MarsHydro 300W is quite much one of the fundamental, entry-level full spectrum lights--but a good budget choice.
Firstly, the high-intensity 5W Epistar LEDs are far better than you'll get in a few similarly priced lights.
Secondly, policy is respectable: two′ x two′ enough for two big plants.
Power draw is solely around 132W.
Suitable for the entire grow--lots of both blue and red wavelengths from the spectrum.
Ultimately, although those are created in China there's a service center in California and US and European warehouses to ensure quick shipping.
The downsides:
No UV or IR wavelengths from the spectrum No veg/bloom change or dimmers Hanger not adjustable--however you Can Purchase the adjustable one here This light remains a popular option, however, our recommendation would be to consider one of MarsHydro's newer versions in the Reflector Series or Pro II Series. You will receive brighter, more even coverage and separate veg and blossom sticks, but still in a really affordable price.
Want to know more? We have reviewed exactly the same but slightly larger MarsHydro Mars600 here.
MarsHydro Reflector 960 Watt LED Grow Light Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
The MarsHydro Reflector 960W matches better in a small square 4' by 4' grow tent compared to many of the rectangular panels we've reviewed. We noticed some small singeing once we used the "blossom" setting, but there were no such issues with the "veg" setting--just one of the perks of an adjustable spectrum. People who have other lights in consideration will likely prefer to use this one as a back-up light, but it surely excels when compared to less costly options.
It was not at our Top 10 sellers. However, among our readers that this was one of the most popular lights of its own size.
Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
The G8LED 600W MEGA LED Grow Light from DormGrow is well worth the price for the quality of everything you get. High Times Magazine named versions of the light a winner at its 2016 and2014 STASH Awards (along with the bloom-only variant was called "Greatest LED Light" in 2017). It offers 8-band wavelength plus IR plus UV so it's there to cover the whole growth cycle of your weed and be sure it's potent and yummy.
So, basically, this replaces an 800-1000W HID light, but draws only 380W in the wall. For maximum yields however, DormGrow suggests adding a couple of those 90W all red bulbs at the flowering phase. They assert that operating a light at full capacity and intensity, but adding some additional red wavelengths at flowering, is a cheaper and effective approach to utilize LED technology, when compared with the normal approach where one lighting is used and some of the red LEDs are dimmed or turned off during veg. Evidently High Time agrees!
These lights stay cool enough to touch when they have been operating for a full 24 hours. The company backs up their product with a two-year warranty serviced entirely by these, and they even reach out to their customers to ensure everything is going smoothly.
Read our complete, comprehensive review here. (Need something more powerful? Have a look at our overview of this G8-900 here.)
Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
This is another manufacturer that has won over one High Times STASH award. In 2016, Kind LED won "Greatest LED Innovation" because of its GH Series of supplemental bar lights.
This is a real 1000 Watt HID replacement. It calmly and professionally covers a footprint of 5′ x 5′while drawing just 630W, to provide you outstanding bud quality and yield a watt, plus significant electricity savings.
As you'd expect, it runs really cool--without noisy inner fans or the need for additional cooling on your grow room.
Programmable However, the significant invention comes with all the fully-customizable and programmable 12 band spectrum and in-built timer. And we imply "fully" customizable. You can precisely mimic the seasons and the sun's passage through the sky during the daytime--the XL1000's LEDs are truly dimmable. It is going to gradually "rise" and intensify and gradually "set". You can optimize for various strains of cannabis. And all this can be set up and controlled with a small remote control. In fact, you are able to control up to 100 lights once with one remote!
Kind back all of this up with lifetime customer service and a 90-day money-back guarantee.
We think that is pretty much the gold standard of LED grow lights right now. And if you want something this strong, it's more than likely the mild for you.
Read a complete review here.
A few of the lights are no-frills however bright and actually do the job, while others pack in a great deal of features for a comparatively tiny cost.
The thing with budget options is that there's always a trade-off somewhere, but we believe these lights hit the best balance between doing and features at least one important thing brilliantly.
Ledgle Grow Light 300W -- 420 Beginner Top 10 Seller Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
Even though this is a comparatively inexpensive full spectrum light, it has got a great deal of value for the money--and it is one of our Top 10 sellers.
For starters, the LEDs are huge! They are 6-watts each and there are 50 of these, therefore this an intensely glowing light that works particularly well for compact plants. The panel covers around two by 1.5 ft when the plants are flowering.
The customization options are much like those on more costly panels. They comprise two switches, one for the vegetative stage, and one for flowering. The two built-in cooling enthusiasts have a backup system to keep running even if one of the chips fails.

What makes the top LED grow light for indoors growing success
Deciding on the ideal light for your grow room depends on a few things. You need a light powerful enough to cover the region where you grow, and that may vary based on whether you have a dedicated area for seedlings and clones, or if your marijuana grows to adulthood in one area.
Another variable is whether you desire an all-purpose light, or when you plan to supplement it with other lamps for veg and flowering.
If you are especially looking for low running costs or stealth growing, then LED grow lights are extremely much your friends.
All those things were problems with HID HPS lights but they are not an issue with LEDs.
Let's take a closer look at the best LED grow lights --and also to help you opt for the right light for your grow space we will be certain to include details of policy area. And should you want to inspect coverage areas at a glance, just take a look at the table above.
The Way to choose the best LED grow light
Here are some of the most important items to Remember when choosing an LED grow light:
The place you need to cover: The first thing you ought to remember is that the region that needs to be coated. By understanding this, you can decide how many LED lighting you will need, and which type of LEDs will provide you the best coverage. To be able to cover more space, more lighting can be placed next to each other. The stages of the plant growth: If you need a full growth cycle, then you can pick a full-spectrum LED grow light to assist in all phases. Or several lights have buttons and/or dimmers for each grow phase. Angle of the LED lens: Also look for the angle of dispersion within the LED bulbs. The larger angles imply more protection while the lesser angles mean less dispersion and more direct light. Your budget: Factor in the qualities that are essential for you and the amount of money you're willing to spend--both up front and on working costs. An LED grow light could be expensive up front, but can help save you money long term as a result of the much lower operating costs. Why choose full-spectrum LED grow lights
The motive is simple
Complete spectrum LED grow lights are a relatively new product on the market and several growers are not all that comfortable with these brand new lighting systems. Many people believe the giant fluorescent lamps or HPS and Metal Halide lamps are the best grow lights to use over an indoor climbing marijuana backyard, but they aren't. Total spectrum lighting systems have the benefit, because:
They mimic real sun Encourage high yields Can increase potency and taste Cost less to run over time Run cool and don't need extra fans Don't flicker or want ballast Their ducks do not need replacing for 50,000 hours or even more--that's years of trouble-free service They are safer and much more environmentally friendly Consider updating an outdated system to a full-spectrum LED panel today. If you go with a few of those picks below, we're certain you won't look back.
Put together your grow area kit

Nutrients, even plants need their own veggies and minerals. The nourishment you provide them don't just have an effect on yield, they impact flavor. Do not have poop-flavored bud. Choose your plants' nourishment sensibly.
Grow tent. Yes, it is a good idea even if you're currently growing in a closet or enclosed space. It's easier to control the weather for your weed with a cane. It's possible to protect them from stray light sources when they are supposed to be in the dark and you protect yourself from their mild when you're supposed to be sleeping. Additionally, it keeps humidity under control and scents, too.

Advanced LED Diamond Series XML 350 -- Editor's Choice 2018 Check Latest Bargains on Amazon
Our Editor's Choice went to the Advanced LED Platinum Series P900. We still love it, it's a fantastic light. But for 2018 we're going together with all the Diamond Series XML 350 instead. For 2 reasons:
The brand new Diamond Series is even better! No question. You still will not fail with Advanced's Platinum Collection lighting, but using all the Diamond collection Advanced have surpassed themselves. We have noticed a majority of our subscribers favor relatively smaller lighting (600W HID equivalents and under), so we're following suit with our recommendations. But don't worry, the majority of the lights we have selected--like this one--are also available in larger versions. OK then.
These are the Major update on the Platinum Collection. We are talking super-bright, dependable, top brand LEDs.
As a result of its selection of processors, the complete spectrum Diamond Series currently boasts a 14+ wavelength spectrum (like UV and IR), to give your cannabis every sort of light it requires for big yields and dense, potent, yummy buds. It is possible to use it in each stage of this increase.
In addition, the XML 350 can replace a 600 to 800W HID lighting for an average draw of just 330W. Which means over 50 percent less heat, no need for extra cooling and large savings on your electric bill.
Other features:
Daisy-chain up to four units on one cord Patented heat sinks, whisper quiet fans, dust filter and air flow vents--to keep LEDs working flawlessly for longer Clone, veg and flower modes--color select dimmable switches Modular layout--sure faults could be fixed without sending the Entire device away for fix 3-Year Guarantee, 90-day Money Back Guarantee, hassle-free returns US Sales and Support staff Finally, let us talk policy: Which is more than enough for home growers in most U.S. states, for instance. PAR when hung at 18″ is a exceptional 1395 and 987 in 24″ to get a 4′ x 4′ space.
If the XML350 is not the cost point or coverage you're searching for, no problem.
The marginally cheaper Diamond collection XTE lights unite Osram LEDs and 5W CREEs. While standard entry-level Diamond Series lights utilize Bridgelux LEDs only. You'll notice, however, that in all 3 cases all the LED chips come from reputable producers and are American-made.

Advanced LED Platinum Series Advanced LED's Platinum Series of grow lighting has recently been surpassed by its brand new Diamond Series (see above), but the Platinums remain excellent lights, are always popular with our readers and are still widely available. So we're very pleased to highlight them here for a while longer.
Because whichever creation of the lights you may be looking at, Advanced LED Lights is a dependable, established company. They always uses high quality parts and assemble from the USA. Together with the Diamond Series they've simply taken the already large component quality up yet another two or three.
While their lights aren't the cheapest, it's nonetheless that additional reliability and quality that make them worth it. And as the year continues on and the Diamond Series starts to take off, we are guessing you might begin to obtain a number of these Platinums at some appealing prices.
So in the Event That You can't quite afford any of the Diamond Series lights, Here Is What we thought of this Platinum Series P900, P600 and P300 (our 4th highest selling light):
Check Latest Prices on Amazon
All of the grow lights in the Advanced Platinum Series use revolutionary full-spectrum technology to maintain your grow plants and room trendy while fulfilling all of their lighting needs. The P900provides Advanced's trademark "3x intensity" lights that provide three times the brightness of many competing LED grow lights.
The P900 has 12 bands of light wavelengths such as infrared and ultraviolet, the parts you can not see with the naked eye. This weapon, and others like it in the Advanced Platinum lineup, is about as close to sun as it is possible to get indoors. But this isn't a one-trick pony. This panel is fantastic for every single stage of developing cannabis.
Switching included You are able to maintain it low-key for sprouting by hitting the "Veg" change, or kick up the intensity by simply turning the switch to "Bloom." The 90-degree angle of the LED focusing lenses sends the light down to the canopy of the plants. This promotes massive growth.
It may replace a 1000-watt HPS light at full intensity and just use 515 levels of power. The average price of electricity in the united states is around 12 cents per kilowatt-hour. Running a 1000-watt HPS costs you 12 cents every hour, plus what you will cover to cool it. But conducting the P900 provides the same or better lighting quality and intensity at half that cost.
When the P900 is frozen at 18-inches above the plants, its heart coverage reaches 3 by 5 feet. Its maximum protection is 4 by 6 feet. You may be asking exactly what those numbers actually mean to you. At various phases of growth, you are going to be raising or lowering the mild according to what your plants need. For instance, you are able to pay up to 4 by 6 feet. However, at more intensive phases like flowering, you're pay less place because you want more intense light.
This definitely isn't a budget light system. But we like that the P1200 LED drivers work anywhere in the world. They take 110V or 220V input (or namely, 85V to 260V). PlatinumLED offers one of the better guarantees on the market, with a 90-day money-back guarantee and 5-year total guarantee.

{DIY} PALLET BENCH WITH HIDDEN STORAGE!
Tumblr media
Way back when I started planning the conservatory I decided we needed another pallet seating area in  our life. Yep, you may remember the one I built in the garden way back in 2015 (jeez has it really been that long?!) well this time I'm building something a bit different, but at the same time, very similar (makes sense right?!) and this time, it's going in the conservatory.
Having learnt from my experience the first time around, I knew exactly what I wanted to do different and how I could improve on my initial design. This time around I wanted to make use of the space underneath the seating - that is to say, I wanted to include some storage space. And I also decided I wanted to tone down the full rustic look too. Instead of just using pallet wood and nothing else - this time, I wanted to use some panelling as well. This way it would be less rustic and a bit more refined and bespoke looking. So if you're interested in making your own - than stick with me, because I'm going to do a full tutorial to show you just how easy this is going to be.
Things You Will Need:
Pallets of the same size
Thin Strip Wood
Skirting
Panelling
Corner/Angle beading
Paint
Screws
Nails
Caulk
Adhesive
Flush Hinges
Fabric
Tools Required:
Crowbar (or lifting bar)
Hammer
Nail Punch
Regular Saw (Or Jigsaw)
Mitre Saw (Or Mitre Box)
Pencil
Tape Measure
Step 1 - Remove Slats from Pallets
In order to make the wood you have go further, you'll want to remove almost all the top slats of the pallet. Depending on how your pallet is built, you will probably find the two end ones (and maybe the middle one) are integral to the structure of the pallet and these can't easily be removed. The others however will pop right off. You can do this with a crow bar but if you're struggling I highly recommend getting yourself a lifting bar. It's basically a giant crowbar but it enables you to have a much greater leverage and it pops the slats right off without any of the hassle. Removing all these slats is also vital if you want your bench to include some storage space as well. We removed all the slats, apart from the two end ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 2 - Position Pallets And Screw Together Now we're getting to the fun bit! So you want to position your pallets as you intend the seating to be. Once this is all built it's going to be pretty heavy, so it's easiest to build it in position rather than trying to move it at a later date. The idea is that it's going to appear as a "built in" piece of furniture anyway - so you really do need to think about its positioning before you begin because it may not even fit elsewhere later on. The layout I'm going for is an L-shape, however you can of course just have it as a single straight length of pallets instead, if you want. If you're going for built-in storage too, you need to leave a small gap between the back of the pallets and the wall. This is so that the lid wont hit the wall and prevent it from being fully opened. My gap is around 2cm. You may also find some pallets are a little lower in height than others - you can use a plastic or wooden wedge to prop up any pallets if needs be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You may also want to chop some pallets in half to get the exact size you want. We actually have a vent between that needs to be kept clear (for the log burner) so I've cut a pallet in half to ensure it's not blocking it.
Tumblr media
Once the pallets are all in position, you then want to take the time to ensure they're all flush with one another at the front and the side. Pallets are never perfectly matching to one another in how they're built, but generally speaking they're usually close enough. A giant spirit level or straight piece of wood helps well in achieving this. It's a little fiddly, but a super important step because this will affect how you attach the panelling later.
Tumblr media
You may find that not all the wood matches up against one another perfectly and as I said, this is perfectly normal when it comes to pallets - they're not made exact. You can see below in this image the top slats on the pallet all line up and match well, but the bottom slats don't. That's totally OK. As long as none are sticking further out and at least half are flush and in line then you're winning.
Tumblr media
After everything has been perfectly positioned, you can then screw the pallets together. To do this, you want to screw through the bottom slat of one pallet, into the top slat of the pallet into beneath it. You'll need to make sure you use screws that are long enough to go through the top wood and into the second, and you want to do this across every slat possible. In my case, that's 3 slats on each pallet. This is going to pinch the pallets together, essentially so they're all connected and become one giant stack of pallets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hopefully you're still with me and I'm still making sense. The next step is then to connect each stack of pallets to one another, side by side. In order to do this, you'll need some very large screws to go between the larger chocks of wood from one pallet to another. These bits.
Tumblr media
I've had to go through the sides of these at an angle because my screws weren't quite long enough (major rookie error and I couldn't get out to buy more!) but ideally you'd just want to go in straight from the side. If you do have to go in at an angle, you can drill out a bit of a hole to get the screw in deeper, as I've done here.
Tumblr media
Now you can see there's a gap between these chocks of wood (which yes, isn't ideal!) but even with the gap, it's most definitely enough to hold the pallets firmly together. If you can though, I would cut some pieces of wood to size to fit into the gap. This will just ensure the screws are pulling the blocks together nice and tight, which obviously isn't happening with a gap. I however didn't have enough wood for that and decided that since there was virtually no movement anyway, to just roll with it. You can also add some cable ties around these if you want to ensure it's even more extra secure, which I also did instead.
Tumblr media
Step 3 - Attach Top Trim Now that the bench is all built and connected together, you can begin to make it look pretty. So as I said before, I'm using panelling to make it look a little more refined and it's also really cheap too. But to make it look even more professional, I'm also adding both a top and bottom trim to just "finish it off" so to speak. As a quick guide, this is basically the look I'm going for..
Tumblr media
The top trim is just using a very thin piece of timber, which is around the same thickness as the panelling (mine is slightly thicker - but that's OK). I've used a mitre saw to cut it to size, making sure to give the corners a 45degree angle for a more professional finish.
Tumblr media
I've then used some loose head nails to nail it into place, lining it up to match in height to the top of the slats (the seating bit).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 4 - Attach Panelling The next job is to attach the panelling. The one I'm using is this one from B&Q which is just £3.15 a pack (seriously, bargain!!) and they're tongue and groove made, so each one slots into the next one which makes it so easy to fit. I've cut the panelling to size using a mitre saw (always!) and since the panelling I've bought is 89cm in length, I've managed to get two bits from each plank. I absolutely love this stuff and we've also used it in our bathroom too. So cheap, so good!
Tumblr media
It's important that the first bit of panelling you affix is spirit level straight (both horizontally and vertically), otherwise you'll end up going off at an angle and have a huge gap between it and the top trim. Once the first piece is perfect though, you can't really go wrong with the rest as long as you make sure the panelling is properly pushed together each time. I've used panel pins to affix the panelling and these are just nailed into the wood on the side of the pallets, which you'll remember we aligned to be flush at the beginning.
Tumblr media
Starting to see how it'll look? My top tip for using super small panel pins is to hold them between your fingers like the photo beneath, rather than pinching them. It helps massively when nailing them into position! I've used four pins per each slat of panelling, which seemed to be enough.
Tumblr media
When it comes to the corner bits, I personally leave these till last. You can measure up the cut you need and I've used a jigsaw to cut these to size. It doesn't matter if the cut isn't perfect because we're going to use some corner beading over it anyway. This is the last step, but you'll see what I mean in a bit!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 5 - Add Skirting and Corner Beads
Once the panelling is nailed into position you can then add some skirting. I've gone for a very basic 'D-finish' skirting (because from the side it looks like a 'D'), which is quite short in height, so it doesn't swamp the panelling. Again I've used a mitre saw to cut to size and affixed with yet more nails into the larger chocks of wood on the bottom pallet. Can you see how easy this DIY is?!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the skirting is done, you can then add the corner beads, which will butt up onto the top of the skirting and beneath the top trip. These will hide any imperfect corner cuts and they'll just make the inner and outer corners look a bit more 'finished' and sleek. Since these are quite thin, I didn't want to chance nails splitting the wood, so I've simply glued them into place instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 6 - Recess all Nails If you haven't already, you'll want to go back over each nail and recess them into the wood. This will enable the nails to be hidden so that you can fill over it before painting and they'll become completely invisible. To do this, you'll need a nail punch set. Simply line it up over the nail and hammer into it, until the nail is completely sunken into the wood. It's kinda therapeutic, I think!
Tumblr media
Step 7 - Caulk & Fill So you might find you have some little gaps here and there - which is no problem at all. Since we're painting this (or at least, I am!) you can just caulk any gaps up, because once it's painted you'll literally never know.
Tumblr media
You'll also want to put some filler over all the nails (yep, there's going to be a lot of them!) and once it's dry, sand it back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 8 - Paint! Onto the good stuff - painting! I know some people hate painting, but personally it's my favourite bit. I'm using Valspar's wood paint in an eggshell finish, colour-matched to 'Downpipe'. I haven't bothered priming and I'm not even sure you even need to with this paint. I have however given it a quick sand between coats and with this Valspar paint, I only needed two coats to get a full coverage finish. I think the dark grey it looks awesome against the pink wall (also Valspar, read about that here) and it's made the seating look all the more quality-finished and expensive looking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 9 - Make Hinged Lids You might have noticed we haven't got any actual seats yet - well this is the very last major bit of DIY and we're almost done, I promise! If you removed all those slats at the beginning, now is when they'll be put back to use. If you're not having storage, you can simply put the slats into position and nail them on the top. But, if you're going for storage like us, then instead of nailing them on, we'll be attaching them together so that they're all connected together to open as one. To do this, you'll want to cut a piece of timber to size that will cover all the required slats and then screw it into the slats. Kinda hard to explain, but like so...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then used a combination of a belt sander and a hand sander (actually a multi-tool with sanding attachment!) to sand back all the slats so they looked a little less rustic. I do quite like a little bit of a rough rustic look though, so I haven't over-sanded mine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then used flush hinges to attach the lid to the seat. This was pretty difficult to do alone, considering you need about four hands to hold the lid into place whilst screwing the hinge into position, so you might want to find someone to help! You want to make sure you're using flush hinges if you don't want to have to chisel out any wood.
Tumblr media
I then lined the inside storage area with some fabric, just to give it a bit more of a finished look. I have to admit, I'm not the best when it comes to fabric related DIYs (oh so fiddly!) so mine is a little rough and ready. But hopefully you get the idea and you can potentially improve on it, if you can. I've just used stapled to hold the fabric into place.
Tumblr media
As for the handles, I've just used a little bit of a ribbon-type material folded in half and stapled to the end of the slats, to use as a kind of tab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Step 10 - Sit back and Admire
Aaaaand you're done. Throw in some pillows, cushions and maybe a blanket for good measure. AND CHILL.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took me a few days to build, although obviously being a blogger and taking photographs, I could only work during daylight hours aaaaand taking photos took up a huge part of my time. Yes, all these photos have been taken via tripod and timer which is quite a large faff to deal with on-top of the DIY. This room is most definitely still a *working progress* and you'll know all about my plans if you follow me over on Instagram. But it's definitely now a useable space, rather than just four walls and my vision for the room is coming together more and more every week. So I would love to know what you think, and I hope this inspires you guys to build something similar! And if you do, please do tag me in your pics - I would love to see! XB2001 - Reflective Blog Post
Project Overview:
Project Goal:
The game that we developed has the player roaming around a city as a Kaiju, and the goal is to destroy as much as possible and gain the highest score in the given time limit. To achieve this goal, the player can walk over small objects, such as fences, streetlights, billboards, cars, and so on to gain points, but they can also punch small and large buildings to gain even more points. The buildings shatter and collapse once they’re destroyed and give plenty of visual feedback to the player.
As this was a group assignment, we needed to be able to work together and communicate frequently to make sure that our work was always up-to-date in regards to the asset list and the core mechanics. We also needed to be able to work without interrupting one another, so setting up source control was something I suggested from the very start – before we even began brainstorming ideas, in fact.
My Chosen Role & Process:
This is the first time in a group assignment where I haven’t had to focus on technical design, but rather explore my skills in level design. As the level designer, it’s my responsibility to ensure that the level not only looks good, but plays well in terms of both performance and how well it takes advantage of the game’s mechanics.
To do this, I would need to block out a level based around the mechanic ideas and desired aesthetic, once satisfied I would make any changes that were necessary after self-evaluation and team discussion. Once the blockout was complete, I would start to build the world using the ‘mesh complete’ assets (simply just assets whose models were complete) so that the scale of the world could be decided. Any modifications to art assets were made afterwards.
As the assets were completed, I put them into the world and continuously tested them alongside the mechanics to make sure that the player would always have something to do. Not only that, but I wanted the player to be able to see everything in the world from the start so that they could get an idea of where to go, what to do, and how to do it.
Additional Responsibilities:
Some unofficial responsibilities included project management alongside Harris. We set up the asset list together based on hundreds of research images and ideas that the team came up with, as well as assets I’d need in order to build a landscape that would meet the low-poly requirement – something I couldn’t achieve by using the landscape tools provided in Unreal Engine.
I also set up and managed the Github repository, which is the service we used for source control. I helped the team learn how to use it effectively, and it’ll hopefully help out with their future projects whether they be with another team or solo.
Challenges & Research:
Level Research:
The primary source of my research wasn’t from games where you destroyed cities, but rather built them. Cities Skylines allows players to create whatever cities they want, whether they’re realistic looking or exaggerated looking. I built numerous quick towns to see what sort of look would be best for the game depending on the style of buildings and the density of the buildings and settled on a grid layout, influenced by the American theme, but the city is by the coast, influenced by the Mediterranean theme.
I also looked at real cities. As was mentioned above, the road layout is more grid-like as is seen in American cities as opposed to twisty and curved as is often seen in European cities. The primary reason for this is because the dominant building style is American, but asides from it complimenting the buildings, it also helps achieve the low poly goal of the art style as the curved roads are instead hard right angles. It also helps with building the scene quickly, as it’s easier to build blocks of template buildings and duplicate them around the level before modifying them all to look unique and vary in minor details.
Design Challenges:
This project came with its fair share of design challenges and issues. Because of some difficulties with the early production in the project, we fell off-track and ended up being behind schedule. This had a direct effect on my work as it was in regards to the mechanics, and without the mechanics I couldn’t build a level that would take full advantage of them. I continued to design a level anyway, as I believed that if we couldn’t get a fully working prototype then we could at least have a proof of concept and explain how the mechanics would work in the provided level. However, we overcame said difficulties and this allowed me to develop a refined version of the level.
Another challenge was the scale. All of the buildings are drastically different from one another, and so are some of the assets. This is partially an artistic decision and a design decision – we wanted to ensure that every asset could be seen by the player, otherwise there’d be no point in them being placed in the game as it’s a waste of geometry and memory that could be better allocated to something else. Furthermore, scaling the world with the buildings and the Kaiju itself was challenging. The landscape itself went through more iterations than anything else in the scene, it originally started off as quite large as the blockout I made assumed that polish assets would be created. After a few weeks of iteration and testing, we ended up with the scene we have now that’s about 5 times smaller but with more of a focus on smaller details, such as parking lots, parks, and small street assets.
The final challenge was more of a technical one than a design one, but it took some design to solve. The performance of the scene was suffering thanks to thousands and thousands of minor assets being in the scene at once. Rather than remove them all and lose detail – one of the reason why I opted for a smaller scene as opposed to a larger one – I instead went back to the static meshes of those objects and re-worked their level of detail meshes so that they would either not render at certain distances, or they would reduce themselves to only 5% of the original polygon count. This increased the average FPS exponentially.
Summary & Final Reflection:
Summary:
Overall, the game turned out quite well. We caught up after numerous delays and issues quite quickly and there was a lot of communication and collaboration towards the end of the project. Everybody helped each other with their roles if they were having issues or if we find an area to optimise or improve. Asides from the skill of each individual member of the team, I feel like this collaboration is the reason why the game turned out as well as it did, it prevented members from making decisions that would potentially be detrimental to the game’s design or performance and we would always find compromises if we couldn’t get something into the game which was usually down to a lack of time.
Final Reflection & Potential Improvements:
There are lots of ways that I could improve my level. The main ways relate to the use of assets in the scene, I feel as though there was a lot more that I could do if I was provided with more assets to work with. If I had to continue working with the current meshes, numerous variations in textures and materials would really help make the scene look different and unique despite the models being the same. Creating more of a variation in the distant landscape would give a better sense of a world existing around the player, too, such as having boats in the water, aircraft higher in the sky, distant mountains and buildings and so on.
After the presentation, the tutors suggested having multiplayer in the game. I feel like this would add a whole new level of fun to the game as it builds on an already competitive goal. When there are two players competing directly with one another it adds a greater sense of achievement when one comes out victorious. We could add ways for players to sabotage one another, such as the ability to attack each other or – if we had different monsters to choose from – a monster-specific ability that players could activate to gain an advantage over the other. The competitive element that exists already only challenges players to take turns in beating one another’s high scores.
Finally, having the military and police as AI in the game to hinder the player’s progress would add another gameplay challenge. The player wouldn’t be able to die from these attacks, but instead would be slowed down or even stopped in their tracks temporarily as they become stunned from attacks from helicopters, tanks, and jets.
