was an ad for Gemini AI at the cinema and it really was like "hip young things who are cool like having verbal conversations with ai" "ask ai how you should fix a problem in your car" "ask ai about peoples star signs so you can base your relationships on its advice" "ask ai how to do your job" "ask ai how to have a conversation" "ask ai to think for you" "why would you ever connect with another human being again when you can just connect with ai" "who are you talking with? oh, it's just Gemini. say hi, Gemini, who is basically like a person and not a water-guzzling theft-driven algorithmic data cruncher"

and i simply thought that it looked and sounded like about a dozen famous "don't invent the torment nexus" dystopian science fictions but maybe i should ask ai how it "feels" about it

#truly it was a Choice ad #no it didn't say *ask ai to think for you*#yes it had *get relationship advice from your ai* and yes that relationship advice was based on astrology #yes it included that last sentence #and do all your professional-sounding stuff via ai #and yes it heavily heavily suggested in the imagery that you should just. chat with ai. because you want to chat with someone #also yes it said ask ai about how to fix your car...#anti ai #and yes the majority of the actors shown onscreen were using hip youth language and were DiverseTM #(in the sense of all being traditionally hot but hey this person may be trans or is black or a lesbian *gasp*)#so so so insidious #i never see filmed ads unless in the cinema #so i was shocked at the idea that these are just blasted out there
