this is a loaded question, but..

is there...any actual proof that jekyll isn't insane?

sure, he's logical and all, and can tell right from wrong, but we all know that hid mental state isnt exactly..good. who's to say he's not already somewhat deranged, even outside of hyde's identity? or is it just something he's too afraid of considering?

We’ve always been a bit crazy, even before the potion. I don’t think ‘normal’ people would want to risk their future to go live in the woods, getting taught about the supernatural by a werewolf.

Jekyll knows this, that’s why he works so hard to keep up the facade that he’s a respectable gentleman. He’s a liar, through and through.
