am i the only one that thinks that the girls work better as a group? yes there is an insane amount of toxic solo fans in the fandom and all their solos did well although imo all their solos were really mid.. solo (the song lol) is still my fave. also i don't remember lisa getting the most promo?? i was actually shocked how little promo she got. money became a hit through tiktok and not bc yg promoted it. i thought rosé got the most promo bc i remember she had several interviews in the us, even the kelly clarkson show and she promoted way more on korean music shows. ultimately it doesn't matter bc yg promoted all of them poorly, especially jisoo. i personally would love for the girls to leave yg but still remain a group but as you already pointed out idk how realistic that is. yg did it with ikon but they obviously didn't bring in as much profit as bp and idt yg is just gonna let their most popular/successful group continue promoting if they don't get any profit from it. i definitely will be sad if bp disbands bc imo they shine the most as a group they just have so much synergy together and it would be a shame to see them disband now when i know they have soooooo much more to offer. but staying with yg they'll never live up to their full potential tbh. maybe if they actually do leave and pursue solo careers their solo music will be better as well if they finally get to work with other producers but so far none of their solo endeavors (under yg) has really impressed me (would LOVE to hear more from jennie like one of the girls) i know a lot of people make fun of bp's "lackluster" performances and their repetitive sound but there is a reason they're the most successful/popular kpop girl group rn and it's bc the girls just work sooooooo well together i'm really gonna be upset if they disband... and a lot of people assume that lisa didn't resign but what does that mean for bp if the other girls stay with yg???

oh i disagree!! i (obviously) love them as a group but i always thought that one of the main strengths of bp is that all the girls can actually hold their weight as individual artists! i like all their solo stuff (some more than others ofc) and im sure that if they get to have more control over their own solo work it will get even better, so im 100% okay with them parting ways :) and hey! even if they go solo im sure they’ll still be close so they could always collab 🤷🏻‍♀️

and yg is *always* gonna profit from bp as a group bcs they own rights to various things (group name and trademark, masters, sync rights, etc) unless they decide to sell them, but that is veeeery unlikely bcs bp will always bring in a lot of profit for the company.

(also not that it matters but flower actually got more promo than solo lol)

i'm so glad i got caught up to v24 but no further, having all the buildup but not knowing what was going to happen was great!!!

i did not know this was gonna be miyagi's movie!!! reading online posts now ig it's movie original, i was wondering whether it was from the manga or not (since we've only rly gotten tiny snippets of backstory - like that tiny devastating scene with sakuragi's father, but i can't recall anything else).

ig thinking of other sports manga/anime i've read/watched the backstory is usually very related to the sport so it's not that slam dunk is unusual in that regard. i've only really read hq (in terms of sports manga and in last few years) and it feels like in comparison slam dunk is reaaally focused on the sport and matches, i feel like i know more abt the haikyu characters outside of their games

i wasn't sure about the animation from the trailer but it looked incredible actually and REALLY captures takehiko inoue's style in a 3d action way? what's always cool about animation also is that it's also easier for me, a very non sports person, to grasp what is happening lol

the music during the intense bits was SOO GOOOD i listened to some of the tracks on the subway ride home... SO GOOOOD so hypeeee I LOVE

that said i do feel like the flashback/match interleaving was almost too much by the end? like in the start it really helped you get absorbed into the characters but in the last 30min or so i was like pls i just want to see the match

the last 10min of the march (in anime game time) were SOOO INTENSE i had no idea what was gonna happen!!!!!

one thing i do not enjoy as is the fighting through injury themes in slam dunk... again i'm not a sports person but it just upsets me to think of characters possibly getting permanently injured or smthn due to powering through an injury during a match. idt this would happen in manga but my anxiety decrees that i worry about it. so.

beside legitimate disagreement, i think both you and that commenter kind of misinterpreted what the other meant/intended.... i wouldn't comment on that post about wee john/frenchie myself but when i read it i got that pang of sadness that's kinda not here not there. and i don't think that's anyone's fault. i'll probably engage in shipping them myself, because i'm a multishipper. just the idea of all characters from an ensemble being "paired up", the idea that everyone falls neatly into one on one pairings. once again, i'm not expecting anyone else to do anything with that information i guess. just, there's a way to interpret that makes me feel out of place

i just jdjddjjd really don't want to engage in ace discourse bc i think it's silly but like?? i think it's just rude to come onto any post talking abt a ship to say it makes you sad. like if it was a post about a random m/f ship and someone popped up to complain about heteronormativity that'd still be rude and unnecessary. either way, i just don't really... get why this is a Thing that needs to be presented to me. i understand that this is just trying to explain another perspective, but i don't feel as if it's necessary to make sure i get why someone could dislike a ship i like.

and feelings are feelings of course, but honestly it is kinda whack to see a gay ship and be like "wow wish they weren't gay!" because it's not like i made a whole post explaining why frenchie/wee john are dripping with romance and sex. just that i think their relationship is slept on. which is also a post i made way back in may when this ship, that is already not particularly popular, was even less popular because a good portion of fandom didn't pick up on their friendship the first watch.

also... it's a romcom. like people can have whatever feelings they want, but it is kinda whack to complain about there being romance and people being interested in seeing more romance in their romance media. we do not have enough gay representation in the world to justify a boredom with gay ships so large that it needs to be vocalized to strangers. there was also nothing in my post that suggested that they couldn't be ace, or even that they couldn't be aro, where if you open the notes every other tag or comment is talking about liking them as qpp's. i mean dnsndndn it would be positive representation if they were qpp's because it'd be showing forms of relationships outside of the allo norm.

idk! i just think it's kinda rude and i don't feel like that's me having an egregious misunderstanding of intent or logic behind it, i just think it's rude to tell people you don't like their ships on their posts. and idt anyone is obligated to care about the pairing, but it is just... kinda whack to say that you feel sad that it's a thing bc there really just isn't such an over abundance of black men and fat men gay relationships to justify being upset at seeing another one. feelings on romance aside, i think it's just shitty to be annoyed at a form of representation because it doesn't hit the specific representation you're looking for, especially when there's no reason why they can't be aro/ace as well (and that seems to actually be the preferred headcanon)

Hey I apologise because you'll prob grt multiple asks on this. I was impartial to raf v michael, but I'm mad after that ep! Raf was a bastard to Jane. Excuse my language. He didn't show any empathy towards her with her mixed feelings considering the love of her life is back from the dead. Having champagne ready after he think she posted the divorce papers 😖 he makes it like jane is the bad guy especially when michael just wants jane to be happy and tbh I feel he would have more right to be 1/2

2/2 pissed considering he got attacked and presumed dead and his wife is with someone else. I really don't get jennie tho! With raf at the end talking about being 2nd choice it's clear he's gonna be 1st this time, but why don't they write him as a good suitor for Jane? I understand being upset as he's scared Jane isn't going to choose him, but he's so selfish. I saw people stanning him and saying Jane is selfish. He literally chucker her out the house and used Mateo against her! 😵

so I MEAN. okay. this ask is pretty loaded, my answer might get a lil long lmfao so. here we go.

first. re: people saying jane is selfish. because i’ve been seeing this too and it’s the one huge thing that’s been annoying me to no end and here’s why: jane and michael never broke up. michael DIED. “died” whatever. the way you get over someone you broke up with for normal reasons is different from the way you “get over” someone who died. that’s just... i feel like that’s kind of a given. so i don’t know why anyone expects jane’s feelings for michael to be completely erased because realistically? it makes sense that she still does. let me put it this way. now that alba has feelings for jorge, does that mean there won’t be a part of her that’ll always love (her dead husband) mateo? that there won’t be a part of her heart that’ll always belong to him? having that part of her that’ll always love mateo doesn’t mean that she loves jorge less, or that her love for jorge is of less value than her love for mateo or anything like that. it’s just different, and each has it’s own value. and i feel like that’s just how it is when people lose people to death? you don’t just forget about them, you don’t just stop loving them. you move on, you learn to live without them, you learn to find a new normal without them, and maybe even find new happiness but that doesn’t mean the value of the person lost is gone just because they’re gone. the only difference is, michael turned out to not be dead, and so those feelings are getting rehashed. i feel like that’s expected, and idk. all shipping aside i just feel like it makes more sense for jane to be confused than for her to not be confused? 

which leads me to: two. rafael’s reaction. i mean listen, i feel like his feelings are understandable. being scared he’ll lose jane, wanting to protect himself from being hurt, etc etc. but i really feel like it could’ve been written better in a way that doesn’t make rafael come across as an asshole. i’ve already said this but: when rafael found out michael’s memories were back, this could’ve happened instead: raf asks jane if this changes things, jane says i don’t know. raf is visibly disappointed but doesn’t say anything about that and gives her a few days to let it sink in and process her feelings and he tells her they can talk about this again then. the few days pass by, jane and rafael have a huge talk. jane says she’s still confused, and rafael is sad and nods, and says he understands that this is difficult for her and he wishes he could sit and wait for her to decide, but that he’s so sorry because he can’t, that as much as he wants, it’s just really hard for him. and then maybe offer to sleep on the couch for the night and not make jane leave immediately...? idk i feel like that’ll still have given people all the feels without raf coming across like a pos who kicked jane out after her mom was just hospitalized. idK MAN BUT I FEEL LIKE I COULD WRITE RAF BETTER THAN JENNIE. lOL. her choices when it comes to raf are just .. idek. 

anyway, idt he ‘used’ mateo against jane or anything like that, and tbh i don’t think rafael actually believes jane will choose him (i wanna throw up even saying the word choose like jfc im so sick of this damn triangle and all the choosing)... i mean listen. this is rafael. he was insecure about CHUCK when he was dating petra. chuck. anyone who can be insecure of a trashcan of chuck’s level like that has some seriously wild insecurity issues. raf has always been insecure. but i still wish they’d addressed those insecurities in a different manner. not like this. it looks bad. and this is coming from a person who has always rooted for rafael’s growth... but like. the writing is making it so hard, damn. i stand by this: character growth would be rafael realizing his worth on his own, and that he doesn’t need to compare himself to anyone. character growth isn’t bringing back jane’s dead husband so that jane can choose raf over michael in the end. that’s not the way to address insecurity. like. that’s... ?? it’s not. like i’m sorry i’m just really not about this whole comparing yourself to the dead guy storyline nonsense. 

but yeah. idt rafael wanting to protect himself is selfish. it’s the way his feelings were translated into action that’s the problem for me. the feelings are valid. the way he went about expressing those feelings, on the other hand, was a lil cringe-y for me, personally, and like i said, could’ve been written way better.
