Introducing Dr James Luff!

(I swear he has personality and isn't Mary sue I just don't have the energy to delve into that)

Dr Luff is a soft spoken, nervous psychologist who currently is interning. Hes sleepy and soft looking, long and lanky, heterochromic (one green one blue) with fluffy/curly dirty blonde hair.

He likes iced coffee and camomile tea, and his favorite food is spaghetti with butter (hes picky as fuck)

He talks like a fairy tale narrator

Hes got a constant 'do better impress ____ at any cost' and martyr complex bc I said so

Hes on the spectrum, but he doesn't know it. Sensory issues and social cues are his big things.

Hes easily spooked by people with weapons (Trauma??? Idk I haven't gotten that far yet lmao) so obviously Clef scares the shit out of him.

Speaking of which, his opinions on each Dr are below:

Dr Bright/963: He doesn't hate Bright, per se, but the man makes him extremely nervous, and exhausts him since Jack likes to tease the poor man.

Dr Kondraki: Kondraki makes Luff super nervous, his sword and rough demeanor put him on edge

Dr Clef: Luff avoids Clef at all costs because of his loudness/shotgun

Dr Glass: James ADORES Dr Glass, Glass is his hero and role model

Dr Gears: Since Gears is well... Gears, he stresses Luff out since he can't read him

Bug Dewi (Mining Bee)

Many people have asked what Dewi, from the HK comic, would look like as a BUG. (The design is very loosely inspired by the Mining Bee). Here's a lil bit more art. And here's Dewi's dad as a bug.

I have also learned too much about this bee and will now infodump about why this is a cute bee for Dewi.

Mining Bees are solitary, but they commonly nest close by one another in "bee cities". I thought this would fit since Dewi is a Human, a social creature, but not a hive mind.

As a rule, Mining Bees are non-aggressive and their stingers are too fragile to sting humans. Much like Dewi, these bees do not want to fight.

Male Mining Bees are covered with shaggy patches of hair, which I thought would fit Dewi's signature fuzzy head.

Chilchuck is such a fascinating character, because every time you learn something new about him, it’s like you’re being punched in the gut. Like, the first time you see him, you’re all “Aww, look at this lil’ guy. Isn’t he cute? Aw, he hates being treated like a kid. He’s probably already in his late teens or early twenties or something. One of those Older Than They Look type characters right?”

And then you find out that he’s almost thirty. He’s older than Laios. And you’re like, okaaaaay, that’s a little older than I expected, but that definitely explains why he hates being treated like a kid so much.

And then much, much later you find out that he has a wife and kids. And you’re just sitting there like, huh, okay. Okaaaaay. Well, this really, really, really explains why he doesn’t like being treated like a kid. He’s a dad. He’s experienced the ups and downs of parenthood. He’s the only character in the group that’s canonically had sex. Okay. Yeah. Wowza.

And then shortly after you find out that he’s his race’s equivalent of a middle-aged man, and it’s like, okaaaaay. That recontextualizes a lot of things. He’s a middle-aged man trapped in a twelve-year-old’s body. Okay. Yeah. Wowee. Gee willickers.

And you think that’s it. You think that nothing else could top that. And then the bicorn chapter comes rolling in with a steel chair and you find out that his wife left him and all three (count that, three) of his daughters are fully grown adults. And as you’re reeling back from all of this new information, they deliver one last final slap to your face.

Chilchuck was a teen parent.

But what makes this all so funny, so fascinating, is that Chilchuck arguably has the most normal backstory out of anyone in the group. And if he was literally any other race, tallman, elf, dwarf, whatever, this information would still be surprising, sure, but it wouldn’t hit the same way it does when he’s a half-foot. Ryoko Kui really said, You know what would be funny? If I made the party’s token grumpy middle-aged man, father of three, look like this:

In the VERY hypothetical situation where dev is taken to fairy world would his hair change from orange to purple?

Very likely it'd be as green as Peri's father, Cosmo!!! Something something dominate traits...

The Pixies would love him no matter the color of hair he has. Although knowing Dev, he'd just dye it black or blue to match the rest of them.
