I better be the patron saint of smutty f/f fanfiction (with a special preference for animated characters) or I'm not passing your prayers along to God
Thinking about people associating a saint with something they didn't care about at all in life, but so many people keep asking then to pray for then in relation to that one thing that, from the afterlife, they really do start to care about it.
#bc technically you don't pray TO saints you ask saints to pray FOR you#christianity#the temptation to go on a thread on the different concepts of sainthood between the Roman Catholic church and like.#a bunch of mainline Protestant churches (including mine--Episcopal)#okay fuck it: the RCC has a loooong-ass process for sainthood that includes documented miracles#and meanwhile Protestant churches that do the saints thing tend to go with the idea of 'any faithful Christian who has died'#which means I can call my great-aunt Stella a saint (and I do sometimes ask her to pray for me)#and the irony is that she was Roman Catholic so in her own church she's NOT a saint#but she is in mine!!#one of my fave parts of this: Mr. Rogers is a saint by the rules of his own denomination iirc#(he was an ordained minister in the big mainline Presbyterian denom)#and the icon-maker Kelly Latimore has an icon of Mr. Rogers :D#(there's a lot more that goes into different denoms definitions of saints and/or how they honor them if at all#but that's enough for this set of tags pfft)
