Harry Bechtel liked to think of himself as adaptable, but really he'd just never had a choice. You'd have to be adaptable to handle never living in the same city for more than two years, with his younger sister and loving-but-absent father as the only constants in his life. It wasn't bad, though. He had friends at school – or at least he did until Logan got himself expelled, taking Finn and Colin with him and moving on to yet another boarding school. He had Tori, whom he loved more than anyone or anything else in the world. He had Lottie, the closest thing he'd ever had to a proper mother, far away as she was. And he had Troy. Across an ocean in Connecticut, yes, but still there. Only a phone call or a transatlantic flight away at any given moment, he was Harry's best friend, and just knowing he was there was more than enough. Until his dad sat he and Tori down with some news. He'd gotten a promotion at work, one he'd coveted for years, but it would involve even more travel than he was already doing; Harry hadn't known that was possible. Too much travelling for two teenagers still enrolled in school. So while Harry would stay in London, in boarding school, Tori would be in Connecticut with the mother she'd never met. Harry had always prided himself in his ability to handle change but really, he isn't convinced that there's enough adaptability in the world to get him through the last six months of high school before he can finally start at Yale and maybe, hopefully, start his life.
