Maybe it's a 'study finds water is wet' type of thought, but

considering it's an action movie whose overall plot is "immortal warriors Fuck Shit Up™️", I think it's significant that in The Old Guard the thing that makes Copley pull red strings through his Murder Conspiracy Board and say "[Merrick] doesn't care what [Andy]'s done with [her immortality]" is the people they save, not the ones they kill

Most of the Conspiracy Board is him circling random newspaper headlines and faces on old photographs to (more or less realistically) follow the immortals' treck through the world and big historical events. Which is, in-canon, not much different than putting portraits from different centuries next to a picture of Keanu Reeves and saying "they look the same, clearly Reeves is an immortal!"

But then there are the connections. A little girl holding Joe's hand in WW1 becoming the youngest (and first) woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Medicine (suck it, Kozak). Or the grandchild of a family that Andy saved from [something] helping people escape from the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.

They are warriors. They have fought and been in the midst of countless wars, major or minor, throughout history. They must have killed as many people as they saved... and yet.

It's not them taking out a random warlord or dictator or rabidly hateful politician that has tangible repercussions in history. It's the children and families they get out of war zones, save from accidents, protect from natural disasters. People to whom they give a second chance at life, and grow to change the world (or even just their own world), like a mysterious stranger once changed theirs just by holding out a hand or patching a wound.

I don't know I just think it's particularly neat

How they’ll explore the present first as a trio for a couple more weeks/months, have Grovyle and Celebi reunite with the two whilst also giving a Big Heads Up regarding Dusknoir; where they’d then go on to see whether or not they truly want him there, and take the necessary action based on their decision. (Whether it’s a unanimous ‘fuck no we don’t want him back’, 50/50, or completely okay with starting over.) Nodding in agreement towards the plan and stepping into the portal together.

They then proceed to immediately get spotted by Hero and Partner just relaxing on the beach.

Now that the main GSNK ships are finally seeing some progress (Waka knows Seo is Lorelei, Kashima and Hori Kiss, Nozaki realizing his feelings, Ryousuke and Miyako are together, etc), does anyone think Mayu and Mikorin have a shot at being canon??? I mean they’re relationship is absolutely set up in a way that is COULD happen plot wise, and the Manga is fruitier than a Jamba Juice, but they’ve been given so much less attention than the other ships ( that could also be because Mayu isn’t like a member of the main cast tho???) idk my hopes aren’t HIGH per se, but I feel like there’s a non zero chance! Like I’m sitting at a solid 7%

i am definitely the only person who cares about this but I was re-reading parts of Sea of Monsters (irrelevent as to why) and. in the chariot race. well, a.) The Ares cabin has skeleton horses. where did they get skeleton horses? and then, actually more confusingly, b.) almost all the other chariots besides Hephaestus cabin (they have automatons) have normal horses. not pegasi. Percy actually specifically identifies the Apollo chariot’s horses by breed which is very funny to me because Of Course He Would but like. We never see CHB have normal horses at any other point in time? Where did they get the horses?

also i hate the tendency deangirls have to go ‘it’s not that deep!!!’ about the show 24/7. it’s not that deep FOR YOU bc you’re taking a very odd approach to the show where you appear to watch 80% of it with your eyes shut. it’s like (comparison that i use 24/7 incoming) if there was a whole subset of bojack horseman fans dedicated to woobifying bojack horseman and saying he was secretly bisexual and transgender and oppressed and the worlds specialest little boy. and they were 90% of voices in fandom. and as soon as anyone complained about this they were making it too deep and hating people for their preferences on fictional characters

some people in this fandom are going to be really disappointed when winds of winter comes out.

you guys. you cannot treat the POV characters as stepping stones for other characters/other POV characters.

the POV characters must have a fitting end according to their character arcs, themes, foreshadowing, etc.

to clarify, the POV characters chapters are about THEM. their storylines are about THEIR journey. you cannot use their hundreds of pages of character development as a brick to build the castle your fav will live in.

this is especially true for the key 5 and for the other younger POV characters. their endings have everything to do with them, they do not revolve around your fav.

us readers out-of-universe reasons for wanting x or y characters deaths does not matter. what actually matters is if you can support your theories with textual evidence from the chapters of the POV character that you want dead.
