Tumblr media
^_^ hi
Actually wait ok i'm not done. i'm actually so serious abt this. I think that a large part of the reason i got attached to metroid when i was younger is because it was the first media i discovered where the main female character was allowed to look like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and like. people thought she was cool. BOYS thought she was cool and I had never seen boys think a female character was cool before, much less want to be like one. she had all these interesting traits that I had only ever seen in male characters (person of few words, calm and ruthless bounty hunter persona, highly respected for skill, her appearance isn't mentioned Ever, etc etc). and that was formative for me and my relationship to gender i think

Not leaving this one behind
Slasher!Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley X F!Reader
summary: Simon moved to America after retiring and had taken up serial killing and stuff and you caught his eye. Simons been realizing some things about himself and he's sure your just what he needs.
warning: murder, gore, smut, pnv, kidnapping, more to be added as i go
Author's notes: so I've not been writing for like ever, but this i just couldn't stop writing. here a little snippet of the set up and what's to come. chapter one is written and ill be revising it tomorrow then it will be posted!
Also happy Halloween for those who care! This is my contribution this season 💜
Full chapter one
prologue
Simon felt a little incomplete. Like his hunt wasn't finished, or it just hadn’t satisfied him enough. Lately he’s been feeling lonely, like killing isn't enough anymore and he's coming to realize that that loneliness is the reason he’s been leaving survivors every once in a while.
He seems to be developing a ‘type’ some would say as well. When he encounters them he likes the thought of them staying alive to remember him, like he will remember them. Their adorable faces when they cried to him and begged for their lives. Hearing their sweet shaky little voices while their bodies shook in his hold. Seeing how devastated they are when he leaves them alive surrounded by the horrors of their dead friends.
This last group was just a bunch of highschool football players drunk and being idiots. Not very inspiring.
The universe must be twisted however.
Here Simon is, on his long drive home from a weekend of hunting and killing only to come across another group at a small dingy rest step. Your group pulled in a few minutes after him while he was filling his tank up and caught his attention the moment he saw a couple dumb guys hopped out of the Rv and two giggling girls followed behind.
Overall the group looked like your usual unimpressive lot. At least that's what he was about to conclude with, until one of the other girls turned back and called out for someone.
“Y/N? What are you waiting for, don't you want some snacks?” She asks.
“Yeah! Sorry, I just wanted to finish this chapter, I'm coming!” Simon's interest then peaked once his eyes were on you. Your knee length skirt swayed around you and you looked cozy in your oversized cardigan. You glanced around a little and in doing so you caught Simon's gaze. He didn't flinch or look away, instead he gave you a short nod. You returned the gesture with a small sweet smile and a little nod of your own before heading after your friends.
He figured you'd wouldn't be as welcoming at the sight of as you were. He had a good amount of height against you and body mass. Half his face being covered by a mask is what really always gets people though. Big and scary described him perfectly.
This was not a group you seemed to fit into based on looks alone he noticed. You just seemed too sweet and nice to hang around a group like this. Or maybe they just looked worse then they all were, maybe Simons had been hunting these kinds of people for so long he was stereotyping them as such a group.
Either way it doesn't matter, it was because of you the outcome had been decided. The moment Simon's eyes landed on you and saw that sweet little smile of yours he knew. He will follow you to whatever cabin or campsite or whatever and make sure to give you a night you’ll never forget.
With his mind made up he quickly checked his duffle bag for a tracker, if you weren’t staying in a cabin and got off grid it would be able to track you no matter what. The way the RV was parked it wasn’t hard to just place it under the front bumper without being noticed, then he was hopping back in his truck. Simon waits for just one more glance of you as you exit the rest stop, snacks and drinks in your arms and a bright adorable smile on your face.
He followed a few miles behind the whole drive and parked his truck five miles out. You ended up going pretty far off the normal map to an almost completely secluded area of the woods. Thing was it was also fall in the northern america and it's not always that populated this time of year so you happen to be the only people camping out this far currently.
Simon couldn't believe how perfect these conditions seemed to have ended up for him. These things after all are always done best in the dead of night, and in these woods? Simon couldn't think of a better hunting ground. Now all he had to do was wait.
~thanks for reading~

Somebody Else
Pairing: Peter Parker x fem!Reader
Synopsis: Peter can't stand to see you dance like that with somebody else.
CW: Fluff, angst, protective! peter, drinking, uhh reader has hair?
Author's Note: This is my first fic! So please leave me some feedback and requests! Also, I'm sorry if the grammar is trash, I'm working on it.
Tumblr media
The bass from the speakers radiates in your chest as you chug another cup of whatever your best friend handed you.
"Babe, slow down!" She chuckles, watching you cringe at the taste and shake your head.
"No! I want to get so wasted I don't even remember his name," you hold her shoulders and say in her face excitedly. She laughs and wraps her arms around your waist before moving to the rhythm with you.
With every lyric you scream and move to on the dance floor, you can feel memories of Peter Parker leaving your mind.
It had only been three days since you'd broken up. Three days, and you saw him laughing with some girl from Biochemistry. A girl he told you not to worry about. Asshole. You should have seen it coming; it was so obvious. Peter had been hiding something from you. You had always been the cool girlfriend; you didn't care if he had female friends or went out with his friends. So when he started hiding something from you, you knew it was bad. You can't even count the number of times he'd lied to you about where he was or what he was doing. The final straw was three days ago when you'd entered his room and saw him throw some clothes out on his fire escape as he stood there in his boxers and a guilty expression.
"…Peter?" you questioned, standing in his doorway. He quickly slammed the window shut and came over to you, pressing a kiss to your cheek.
"Hey baby," he said sweetly, going over to his clothes that were lying on the floor.
You furrowed your eyebrows.
"Was someone just here?" You asked quietly, frozen in place. He looked back at you as he pulled his sweatpants on. He looked over to the window and then back at you, shaking his head nervously. "No, no, of course not. I knew you were coming over."
"Are you sure?" you crossed your arms over your chest. His eyes fell to your chest then back to your face. "Yeah?" He said, confused. You nodded your head and placed your bag against his desk.
"So you wouldn't mind if I took a look at your fire escape then," You said, heart thudding in your chest, walking over to said fire escape. Before you could reach it, Peter slid himself in between you and the window. You looked up at him and tilted your head.
"What?" He said, shifting his brown eyes away from yours. His face was inches away from yours now; usually, this position would make you want to reach up and kiss him, but what you currently feel is far from affection.
"I'm going to ask you again, one more time," You said steadily, trying not to let your voice crack as you asked the question you seem to have asked about a dozen times these last two weeks.
You tilted your head upwards, forcing him to keep eye contact with you despite the fact that you felt tears welling up in yours.
"What are you hiding from me?" You said slowly, the words feeling heavy in your mind.
"N-" He goes to reply before you interrupt him.
"I suggest you think about what you're about to say, Peter, because if you lie to me again, I'm done. We're done," You whispered to him, not breaking any eye contact. He opens his mouth to speak and then closes it before bowing his head in thought.
"Just tell me," You begged, lifting your hands to hold his face.
"Please baby, just tell me the truth," you whispered to him. He put his forehead against yours and went to speak. You held your breath in anticipation.
"I…I can't," his voice goes hoarse as he shakes his head, his nose brushing against yours. You inhaled sharply before pulling away.
You took a few steps back before looking at him, his head hung in shame. "I can't do this anymore, Pete. I just can't," you said, grabbing your bag from his desk and slinging it over your shoulder in a rush. You heard his voice call out to you as you ran down the stairs, out on the street, and away from him.
The memories of all of the hurt and the tears falling into nothing the more your hips moved with the beat. Nicki Minaj blasted from the speakers as you twirled around before screaming the lyrics and flipping your hair. You felt two hands wrap around your waist, holding you closer to them. You looked back over your shoulder and saw Caleb. Caleb was on your college basketball team; you tutored him last year in Psychology and became friends. You'd always suspected he had a bit of a thing for you, but you never really spoke to him out of respect for Peter. You smiled up at Caleb and turned to hug him, wrapping your arms around his neck and greeting him.
"Hey gorgeous, how are you?" He chuckled, leaning into your ear. You pulled away from him.
"I'm single and fantastic," you screamed over the music. He nodded, a wide smile spread across his face.
"Soo, that means I can dance with you, doesn't it?" You bit your lip as he said this and looked back at your best friend, who was now dancing with her partner. They both nodded at you encouragingly.
Looking back to Caleb, you nodded and started moving to the music with him. Just glancing at him, you could tell that he was attractive, with a short buzz cut and a sharp jawline, but he had nothing on Peter. As the Nicki song faded into the next, and the colored lights flashed in front of your eyes, you remembered how much you loved parties.
Peter hates parties. He's convinced this was the last thing he needed this week. He can't possibly stand here and be expected to have fun. Not three days after he had lost the love of his life. He felt like an idiot. The girl thought he was cheating on her as if any other woman in the world could compete with those eyes and that smile, he thought to himself. He was pulled into reality when a random guy ran past him to the kitchen sink before vomiting into it. He grimaced, deciding it's time to move to another room.
One hour. He just has to stay one hour, and Aunt May can't get mad. It's stupid to think that he still listened to his aunt at this age, but she insisted that going out would make him feel better, and he thought maybe she was right (and also there was a chance he'd finally get to see you, talk to you even). As he watched people covered in body glitter grind against each other, however, he questioned the validity of her solution. He weaved past as many people as he could, moving closer and closer to where he felt the music was coming from. There was only one place you'd be if you truly were here.
He stood next to the large archway leading to the dance floor, the steps allowing him the height to look over people's heads. The crowd screamed as the intro to the song "Gasolina" came on. He took a sip of his coke, scanning the crowd before he reached a familiar head of hair.
Fucking. Hell.
There was no possible way you had gotten ten times hotter in the past three days, was there? He watched as you lifted your arm to flip your
hair, a lock of it sticking to your lips. A bright smile graced your face as you circled your hips in the air.
Peter had seen you in all of your forms, sick, sleepy, tired, naked, yet he didn't think he'd ever seen you look sexier than when you moved your hair from your mouth and bit your lip looking at someone. The soft smirk and loving eyes immediately vanished from his face when he realized who you were looking at.
You're not mine. He remembered suddenly, feeling anger bloom and ache in his chest. He couldn't stand you looking at Caleb that way. You were his… even when you weren't.
As if sensing his presence in the room, you suddenly snapped your head over to him. Your eyes locked as your chest heaved slightly, damp from sweat. You wished you could ignore him. You wished you could see him and have no trouble turning away. You almost had the urge to smile at him.
Peter held the eye contact. Even from across the room, he could feel the string that tethered you together pulling him from his chest toward you. He didn't fight it. His jaw clenched, and eyes sharp, he walked almost seamlessly through the crowd of people on the dance floor and straight to you. When he stood about a foot away from you, you froze in place, not knowing what was coming next. He looked over at Caleb.
Caleb had his hand hooked around your body, way too close to your chest. Way too close to you. There were not many things Peter felt possessive over, but one of those things was you.
"Hey Pete! What's up, man?" Caleb said mockingly. Peter clenched his jaw, not even looking at you. He knew if he did, he would become a mess of tears, any and all confidence falling away.
"Get your hands off of her." He demanded at Caleb, acting way ruder than he’s ever been. Caleb removed his hand from your waist, squaring up to Peter.
"She ain't your bitch anymore, Parker, she's free game now,"
Feeling insulted, you took a step back, drawing the attention of your best friend and a few other people in the crowd.
"Don't fucking talk about her like that," Peter gritted his teeth. Just looking at him now, you were scared. Not of him, but for Caleb. In your months of dating, you'd never seen Peter this angry, and though he didn't look it, you knew he was much stronger than he led people to believe.
"You're just fucking mad because you know I'm going to have her bent over my desk tonight, not you." Caleb sneered at Peter, egging him on. Your jaw dropped at his words.
"Excu-" Before you could even get a word out, Peter's fist came crashing into Caleb's face. The music suddenly halted, and Caleb landed on the grimy floor. Suddenly, Caleb was on his feet and stalking towards Peter. Caleb's friends grabbed him from behind and stopped him from coming any closer. Instinctively, Peter's arm came in front of you, pushing you behind him so he could act as a shield. Caleb screamed and spat at Peter. Peter went forward to continue to fight when you grabbed his arm.
"Peter! No!" At the sound of your voice saying his name, he turned toward you, seeing the pleading look in your eye.
"Let's just go. Please. Let's go." He looked at you hesitantly before looking back at Caleb. Knowing you were more important than his pride, he held onto your hand tightly and dragged you away from the chaos of the dance floor, away from the frat house, and onto the front yard.
It's only when you're both standing in the driveway, the music cranking up again inside, that you finally get a good look at him. He's wearing a loose t-shirt, a flannel, and his regular black jeans. You stare at each other in silence, feeling protective of yourself you hug your body.
"Were you really gonna go home with him?" Peter mutters.
A completely cold laugh comes out of your mouth, putting your palms over your eyes.
"I can't fucking believe you,"
He frowns at your words, "What?"
"What if I went home with him, Peter! We're done! Go back to fucking Lyla or whoever the fuck she is," you say, referring to the girl you'd seen him hanging around with, the one he'd probably been cheating on you with.
"What?" He says again, this time slightly angrier. "Who the fuck is Lyla?!"
Your eyes widen as you spread your arms out, "Fucking Lily or whoever she is you're sleeping with, Peter! I don't give a fuck!"
He runs his hand through his hair, turning around before looking at you again.
"I'm not fucking anyone." He says calmly, hands in a prayer motion at his mouth.
You roll your eyes, "Peter, it's over, you don't have to lie anymore. I know you were cheating on me. It's fine, whatever, just fuck off please!"
"Ch- Cheating? What are you talking about?" He asks, confused. You go to respond but get interrupted by your friend running up to you, putting her arm on your shoulder. She asks if you're okay, you nod at her and tell her not to worry. Peter interjects and says he'll get you home safe and she should enjoy her night. She looks over at you for confirmation, and you nod, not wanting to ruin her night as well.
"Call me when you get home, please!" You yell after her as she runs into the arms of her partner on the porch. You and Peter walk down the street, away from your college campus and into the city streets. Neither of you say a word apart from muttering a small thank you when he drapes his jacket.
"I wasn't cheating on you,” He says suddenly when you turn onto a quieter street.
“I would never, ever." He continued strongly. You swallow and shrug under the weight of his jacket.
"What was I supposed to think, Peter? You don't answer your phone, you disappear in the middle of the day, you lie to me…" You say, much calmer than before, but looking at the ground instead of him.
“I know, I know, I’m sorry. I just- If I could tell you I would, but if something happened to you and it was my fault? If you got hurt and I couldn’t save you that would be on me and I can’t see you hurt. I can’t.” He cries desperately.
You furrow your eyebrows in confusion, “Got hurt? Peter, what are you talking about?” He walks towards you slowly, testing to see if you would move away. You don’t. Peter moves forward to wrap his arm around your torso, “Peter, what are you-?”
“Do you trust me?”
“Yes.” You say, hesitating, despite everything.
He tightens his grip around you before moving your hands around his neck.
“Peter if you want me to hug you or something I-” You’re cut off by your own screams as you soar through the air. You bury your face into Peter's neck and hold onto him tighter, terrified and confused. Your stomach rises and drops as you soar through the city. So terrified of falling that you can't think or speak. In a flash, you feel your feet hit concrete, and you notice you're on the terrace of your apartment building.
Peter releases you and is about to say something when you run to the ledge and throw up. He cusses behind before lifting all of your hair away from your face and lifting his jacket so he can rub your back soothingly. You stand up straight when you’re done, probably reeking of sweat and vomit.
You both stare at each other unmoving.
"What the fuck?!" You yelp as you hit his chest. Angrily you growled at him.
"What was that? Why did you just fling me across-" and then realization hit you.
"Oh my god. Oh my god, you're Spid-. Oh my god, this isn't happening. I am not that drunk," you say laughing sarcastically and putting a hand against your forehead.
“Even if you were drunk I think you got it all out now.” Peter chuckles awkwardly, gesturing to the throw-up on the ground.
You snap your gaze to him, reprimanding him, and he smiles softly. That smile. That smile that you're sure could heal the world if he tried.
“I wasn’t cheating on you, y/n. I’m Spiderman, that's why I disappear, that's why I’m late, that's why I lie. And I’m not going to apologize for being him because it’s the second greatest thing to ever happen to me, but I will say I’m sorry for lying. I’m so so sorry for lying to you, bug. I really am. I got scared and nervous that something would happen to you, I couldn’t take that risk but I can't lose you either.” He professed sincerely.
You nod your head slowly. “I get it,” you whisper. Tears pricking at your eyes, all the feelings you’ve been trying to suppress bubbling over with how much you love the man in front of you. You take quick paces to him and wrap your arms around him, holding him so tight you’re not sure he can breathe. Sniffling through your tears, “I get it, I’m so sorry I got mad. I love you,” you say into his chest. You feel his arms wrap around you making you cry even harder.
“I love you,” He says back, placing a kiss on your head.
“And I’m sure you have questions,” He whispers.
“So many questions,” You laugh into him, refusing to let go. But he pulls away from you and holds your head in his hands.
“How about we shower and get ready for bed and you can ask me anything you want,” He asks while stroking your hair. You nod at his words. He takes your hand and leads you to the stairwell into the building.
As you walk through the door you ask, “So where else do the webs come out from?”

Nobody as Weak as I Feel
Tumblr media
pairing; Finn Wolfhard x singer!gn!reader
synopsis; the reader is a musician who is performing in front a large audience for the first time, but finn isn’t there to support them :(
authors note; every time I see a clip of Olivia Rodrigo and Louis Partridge I gain a year of life (Louis at Olivia's concerts inspired this fic thx yall) , also this feels so clunky i’m sorry if the chunks of text are difficult to read 😭
lowercase intended , not proof-read , 667 words , originally was an x character
Tumblr media
Y/n threw off the hoodie they were wearing, before pulling out their phone to call their boyfriend, Finn. They were preforming for the first time, in front of an audience of at least 9,000 people which obviously had them on edge, and left without comfort.
Finn was supposed to be coming but, he was busy doing interviews and events for his new movie. And honestly he had plenty of time to get there after, but jumping back into the spotlight had him busy and out of time for personal affairs. Finn always came to y/n's concerts, but usually they were smaller, way smaller.
"You're coming over later though, right?"
Y/n asked through the phone to Finn.
Of course, make sure to get Millie or Caleb to send me a video, okay?
"I'll tell them,"
Y/n sighed.
I love you so much, I'm so sorry I can't make it
"It's fine. I'll be fine— as long as you come over later!"
Y/n felt a lump arise in their throat. Something about Finn seeming so close but being so far away, made y/n almost angry.
You know I will! And we can do whatever you want when I get there
"Thanks Finn, love you. Okay, I gotta go get ready, my designer is here, bye."
Bye, I love you, and I'm so proud of you
"Yeah, I love you too, and thanks."
Y/n hung up and held their head in their hands, until the kind designer offered their comfort— then got started on getting y/n ready.
After about 40 minutes of the stage being occupied with other artists preparing the crowd for y/n, it was finally their turn to perform.
Y/n walked onto the stage, hearing their heart bounding in their ears along with the multitude of applause— sure they were going to fuck something up somehow.
"Hello everyone, holy shit I'm so nervous,"
Y/n giggles into the mic, making everyone else in the audience laugh. They scanned the audience for anyone they knew, before finding Millie and Caleb in the middle of the venue— which gave them an ounce of peace.
"Should I tell you the song or, you know what you'll figure it out,"
Y/n stops themselves from speaking any further, worried about embarrassing themselves anymore than they already felt and started to play their most popular single. Once they heard the crowd singing along, they started to feel more at ease.
The concert had ended about an hour later, y/n went to go find Millie and Caleb, to thank them for coming and to ask if they got any good videos.
As y/n was leaving the venue, they were stopped by a multitude of people asking for pictures and acknowledgment. They took as many as they could before trying to run away, though they couldn't get far before they felt a hand slip into theirs.
They looked up to see who the hell had suddenly grabbed their hand, until they noticed a familiar head of dark hair and big brown eyes.
"you were great! the set list was so fucking good,"
Finn spoke into y/n's ear while y/n tried their hardest to engulf finn in the biggest hug they could while still walking to the exit.
"when the hell did you get here?"
y/n asked pure excitement shining through their words.
"i got here basically the second you started, although i saw a bit of TV Girl when i came,"
y/n smiled and continued to walk with finn holding their hand out of the venue, and finally getting to their car while finn showed y/n all the badass videos he took of them on stage.

Many of you write such interesting theories about Gilbert.
I want to participate too... (Lol, the route will be out in less than 24 hours.)
But my theories usually don't come true and I pay attention to unnecessary things.🤣😅
Here are some thoughts on Gilbert's route.
Childhood.
1. I don't get the feeling that Gilbert was born in the palace and lived there originally.
It seems to me that his situation is the same as Jin's. Lived somewhere far away until father found out/remembered he had a son. Perhaps Gil lived in an orphanage or a place with lots of kids. Maybe the foster parents had a lot of children.
Why?
He's good with kids (communicating with little Luke as well as the kids from the Christmas event), the kids trust him, he knows tricks, how to entertain the kids and how to communicate with them.
Yes it is manipulative, but a man who grew up in the cold and cruel court of the emperor could hardly have found common ground with such ease.
2. (I get a sense of deja vu, as if I read this in someone else's post a long time ago.)
He is not the emperor's son at all.
Gil is from a captured kingdom. And the emperor adopted him.
国王 - kokuou - king.
This title, for example, was used by Silvio's father.
"王" (ou) means "king".
But Obsidian is an empire.
皇帝 - That's what Gilbert calls his father.
皇子 - ouji - imperial prince.
But "王子" is used to describe Gilbert.
A traumatic accident.
The implication is that Gilbert used to be ordinary, perhaps somewhat like Emma in his kindness.
1. What happened to the prince? The answer in the "More Love with the Beast" event.
In "More Love with the Beast," Chapter 2, there was an episode when Gilbert saw a book with a "sinister black cover" in the bookstore where Emma worked. The girl does not know what country it is from, but it is written by a promising author.
The darkness of the imperial court was depicted in detail, a very realistic description of the darkness of the human heart.
But she liked the main character.
Gilbert was interested. (Even the heroine paid attention to it.)
What did she like about the character? She liked his unwavering conviction, and whatever intrigue he faces, he insists on his innocence.
Even in the face of great evil, the hero never gives up, sticks to his convictions.
Emma wants to emulate this hero. Gilbert remarks that this character is like a girl. "Honesty and purity." And he asks her never to change.
2. In the recent event, (The Prince is a bodyguard.)
I think we will meet this character again.
Tumblr media
???: Listen, Gil. I'm on your side no matter what.
???: I promise. I won't leave you alone. So... okay?
It's a male.
Because he used 俺 - ore. For women, that's rude.
3. In Clavis' dramatic ending, Gilbert notes that he and the 3rd prince are similar.
Both don't trust people. People are tedious until they "break".
So, my guess:
It doesn't take a genius of deduction to figure out that the book describes the court of Obsidian.
А) The main character in this novel is Gilbert.
This man, who told Gilbert that he would be at his side, ended up betraying the prince.
From that moment on, Gil's behavior changed.
There used to be "honesty and purity" in him, but not anymore.
B) And you know, while I was writing, I remembered something else... Clavis' dramatic ending again. (Chapter 24)
Gilbert: People can be controlled by fear, and there's no fear more effective than love.
Perhaps the main character was this unknown man who promised not to leave the prince, but the fear of losing this man made Gilbert give up on him and everything good about himself.
Current Situation.
Again, thanks to the story of Clavis and a bit of Silvio, we know that there are two factions in Obsidian: the Imperial faction and Gilbert's faction.
The Imperial faction is brutal, corrupt, and "rotten".
The emperor and his men spare no one.
Again the story of Clavis, and again the Dramatic ending: Liden, the head of the area where Emma and Clavis ended up, was the Emperor's man brutally suppressing the resistance (I don't remember very well what he was killing people over).
Thoughts about what happens next.
1. Why is the prince in such a hurry? Maybe he found out that his father wants to go to war again with Rodolite, Benitoite, and Jade?
He doesn't want to let that happen. And he needs to take the throne. Why then is he hanging around in another country? He wants to get to know a future ally and then maybe an enemy.
2. It's not a violent game after all. It is unlikely to show or tell that Gilbert killed his father. More likely to send him off somewhere and take the throne (second CG.)
I think the art where we are shown a "gothic" Emma, and where Gilbert said that "bad guys don't care if they're loved or not" (sorry, I don't remember his exact words, and I'm too lazy to look) is the dramatic ending. The prince hasn't changed. He remains a sinner, will "repaint" the heroine in darker shades, but will be happy with her. Here he became an emperor, perhaps a slightly better version of his father.
3. The prince sometimes (though in events) calls himself a sinner, and he kills people very easily, but does not repent of it. Perhaps even for him, killing his father (even his adopted father) is a sin.
4. Does Gil have a second eye?
I wish... And a different color. 😍😅 But most likely the eye is lost. Perhaps it was a punishment from the emperor. Maybe it has something to do with that unknown man.
5. Yves & Gil
This is where I looked. Because I didn't really remember the plot.
The only thing I found.
Willow's mother was a princess (English version) and 王族 - Royalty (Japanese version).
What does that give us?
Tumblr media
Imperial family - royalty
Tumblr media
Difference between 皇族/王族.
皇族: Emperor's (天皇's) family
王族: King's family
Yves' mother may have been a member of the royal family of the fallen kingdom.
It is unlikely that Yves is the son of the emperor. But he could be related to Gil.

But when she actually got accepted into her new school, she didn't realise how much of a mistake it would actually be.
The first year was going quite well, nothing seemed to be foreshadowing the nightmare that her school days would become. But as YN's best friend - only true friend in class she had - changed schools. Gradually, YN has dropped her grades, and started closing up from others.
Going into second year, her life became an absolute nightmare. Scared of talking to people, teachers, ditching school, getting authorities over her head - it seemed like NOTHING was going well anymore.
Her cousin enraged her, also. She never had perfect relationship with her, but what made her most furious was their conversation weeks ago.
°°°
Why do you even want to switch schools?? With your attitude, you're always going to complain about anything. Everything's going to be the same whatever you do. <
YN gazed at the message, her mind flaring with anger.
The next messages her cousin sent were just self-centered yapping about how she struggled with her own work, her colleagues, her situation, her mood, her feelings - her, her, her, her. Not even once has she thought of YN's feelings. The fact she may not be in total control of the things going on in her life.
> Go fuck yourself
YN texted back, seething the same words trough her gritted teeth.
Since then, she understood that she doesn't want to have anything to do with that bitch.
°°°
YN was scrolling trough Instagram - once again ignoring the fact she should study - and noticed a quite pretty post. A cosplay of her favorite character.
Oh, right! Because there was an obsession YN had. It was Sanemi Shinazugawa - a character of her all time favorite anime.
- Fucking hot.. it would be lucky to have someone cosplay him for me.. -
She stared at the pic for a moment with a blank expression on her face. And then she blinked, because then it clicked.
Usually YN overthinked everything she did - but not this time. She texted the man without hesitation.
> I've got a deal for you???
And then she waited.
Regretted her decision.
Then waited, waited, waited.
It was agonizing, almost. The hope of the man texting back was slowly fading, replaced by a shame caused by her doing. She was so taken over by this revelation that she dreamed of it, until one day, finally, she woke up to a reply.
What kind of deal?? <
Oh now THAT was the moment for action.
Seeing he was active, she carefully chose a reply.
> I'll pay you to cosplay Sanemi for me
Oh now that's new. If you want a pic with me, i won't make you pay. I suppose you live nearby??? <
The girl's face heated up at his words. From embarrassment, but also because he would be willing to take a picture with her for free. But that wasn't what she wanted.
> No, i don't want a picture. I'll pay you, for pretending to be my boyfriend.
He read that. He's seen that.
Silence.
And do I get to be a lil touchy 😏 <
> I'll cut your salary in half
Worth it <
> Is that a yes??
Let's say so. Where do i meet you up, princess? <
> In front of my school tomorrow, 7.50. I'll send you the adress later
YN felt like she needed a cold shower to take that news. And so, she went to the bathroom and spend nearly an hour there, nearly dying from excitement.
Then it was time to tuck herself to bed, to the thoughts of having a.. new boyfriend???
°°°
The next day, YN was waiting for her "boyfriend" in front of the school. And just when she was about to give up to her anxiousness and get inside the building, somebody grabbed her by the hips and she was pulled against a firm chest.
- Hey, princess~! Not like i stalked your profile, but i did stalk your profile. You're looking even cuter in real life than those silly pictures -
- W-WHAT?!! -
YN was so startled, she almost pushed her elbow into the guy's face.
- Are you insane?? Stop attacking, immediately! -
Just in case not to get murdered, the guy let go of her and stepped aside.
And when YN looked up she was even more startled than before. The guy was towering above her, at least a head taller than her. His hair were white, and he had this makeup indicating those iconic scars on his face. He was wearing a simple white button up shirt - with a few top buttons left undone - and black pants that were tight around his waist.
- I-is that a wig..? -
The guy's face expression softened as a chuckle left his lips. She didn't miss the fact that he had purple contacts.
- Oh? No, i dyed them this way. -
He put a hand over her shoulder, bringing her a tiny bit closer to himself.
- You wanted me to be your boyfriend, why so silent now?? Do you not love me?? -
He pouted, enjoying the teasing. YN huffed, grabbing a fistful of his shirt and pulling him after her.
- Let's just get inside -
They didn't exchange a word while walking, but he changed their position, so that now their hands were entwined together.
As they walked down the hallway, some people who knew YN were eyeing her - and she, deep down, swelled with pride.
°°°
YN had to be honest. Having a man like that walking around with her for the whole day, like a puppy, was satisfying. Her lovely "Sanemi" was all smiley - a little out of character - and his acting skills were perfect. He had no problems with playing pretend, as if he and YN knew themselves for a longer time than just those few hours.
- Wait. What even is your name? -
YN spoke about that matter after the first lesson, when she realised she never asked him this - and there were no informations about it on his profile.
- Oh fuck, right, i never told you. I'm loosing my head here with you, see? -
He let our a chuckle and brushed a hand trough his white hair.
- My name's Aiden. But you can just call me Sanemi, you know. That's what i just am for you, right? -
YN raised her eyebrow questionably.
- You sound pretentious -
- Huh?? No offense. You're just oversensitive -
The girl didn't like his response at all, but decided to just wave it off.
For the rest of the day, she had a loyal puppet running around her like he was over the moon with her.
Maybe he was?
Or what's more possible, he just wanted to be worth the money.
What YN noticed, and wasn't against, was for sure, how touchy he was getting. Seems like his message wasn't just a joke and he really was taking the opportunity. Though they knew each other for like... Max 9 hours, YN didn't complain. It would probably be the only time a man would be touching her anyways.
After school, it was time to pay him off. Aiden got dragged out of the school by his "girlfriend" - while he talked with the friends he apparently made - and when YN made sure they were far enough from familiar people, stuck a bunch of bills into his hand.
- Isn't it too much? -
His purple contacts pierced trough her as his confused face expression almost made her giggle.
- I'm paying in advance -
Her explanation was fairly brief, but Aiden didn't comment it. The thing that surprised him was how she just chose to ignore him as she quickly walked down the street.
The girl jolted in surprise as she felt her hand being grabbed.
- Why are you running away from me? Let me just walk you home -
The white haired man spoke, taking YN's silence as an agreement. When they stood in the door to her house, he did so much as to lean down, kiss her cheek and smile before walking away with a little wave.
- See you tomorrow! -
YN was too stunned to answer to his words, as she stared at him before he disappeared around the corner.
°°°
When she laid in bed, the only thing she could think about were his hands over her, the WHOLE day. She knew she shouldn't, but she felt a tiny squeeze in her heart anytime she recalled how his hands would squeeze her waist or hold onto her own.
And so, even though he wasn't hers, it seemed that YN's "boyfriend" would be what pulls her out of the cage of her own misery.

Mushroom and puzzle piece for the ask game :3
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
see that’s the thing about obsessing over niche rare pair ships with no canon basis. because literally every thought I have relating to them as ships is a headcanon LOL.
BUT. okay. this is for the kazolai shippers in the audience. I think Kaz doesn't like music. and if he were in a modern AU he would be one of those people that just doesn't really listen to music. doesn't have an answer when someone asks what his favorite song is. and if someone said he hates music he would be like “no I don't” but he would never listen to music if someone else wasn't playing it. but nikolai is a huge music enjoyer. he has 200 Spotify playlists. but kaz gets in his car and turns off the radio immediately which always has nikolai like 😑
🧩 ⇢ what will make you click away from a fanfiction immediately?
okay this is going to make me look picky and insane. huge blocks of text are a no, lots of spelling/grammar mistakes in the first chapter (and not stylistic things), OCs (I still respect people who write OCs!! I have several!! but when I'm reading fanfiction it's not what I'm looking for at all), if the author mentions in the authors note that they haven't read/watched the source material, if it's for a fandom where canon and fanon are pretty far removed and I can tell in the first chapter that it's resting heavily on fanon characterization I don't make it past the first chapter, if the chapters are longer than like….20k words per chapter I'm out of there (with some exceptions if it's REALLLY good but usually I just know it won't hold my attention and you can't bookmark halfway through a chapter….and 50k word chapters gives me ‘author needs to work on pacing’ vibes because girl that is a whole ass novel. but that's just a personal preference).
^^again NOT saying any of this is bad, just that it's not for me.
tbh though I don't read any fanfiction for the fandom I write in anymore because I want to keep my characterization untouched and in-line with canon. and whatever fandom I’m writing for is usually the fandom I would have brainworms enough to read for, so as a result I just…don't read that much fanfiction anymore?? unless I'm rereading things I write. sometimes I read fandom blind for the tags. but if I'm reading fic I don't have a lot of time to WRITE fic and I prefer to write these days. also I read a shit ton of books these days.
all of that does go out the window though if i'm scouring niche tags or rare pair tags, if it's a rare pair you'll find I get MUUCCCHHHH less picky lol.

Fast Times at Family Video
Tumblr media
Pairing: Robin Buckley x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3,112
Warnings: Brief mention of period typical homophobia (not directed at Robin, this is very fluffy!)
Summary: There's this girl that comes in once a week to rent Fast Times at Ridgemont High. She always peruses the shelves, sometimes grabbing other films, but Fast Times is always in the stack.
In other words, Robin has a crush, Steve plays wingman, and the pretty girl in the fruit themed sundresses might pick up something more than a cheesy high school movie.
Author's Note: Sorry to Vickie, but it had to be done.
Part Two: Lemonheads
Despite it being early March, a sudden heat wave has spread its iron grip over the town of Hawkins, Indiana. The AC inside the Family Video is on its last leg, and both Robin and Steve are counting down the seconds until their shift ends. It's Sunday, and barely any customers have come in. It looks like the video store is gonna be deserted for the rest of the evening. But, Robin is patiently waiting for someone. Someone who always comes in on Sunday, every week like clockwork.
"I think it's going to be kiwi this time." Steve announces from one of the isles, slowly stacking the shelves to kill time.
"What?" She had no idea how long Steve had been talking to her, too preoccupied with staring at the front door. It's only three hours till closing time, so it's too early to be worried she wont show up. But she usually comes in the mornings, her She-Ra thermos in hand. Always tea, never coffee. Robin has spent way too much time trying to read the impossibly small font on the tag each times she comes in. On the rare occasion she makes an afternoon visit, it's usually a can of soda in her hand. Pepsi, never Coke.
"Kiwi, I think she's gonna be in a Kiwi get up this time." He responds for a second time.
"Who are you talking about?" Steve rolls his eyes and lazily walks towards the front desk, clearly fed up with Robin's lack of attention on him.
"As if you don't know, you've been staring at the front door for the past 30 minutes. I think you've blinked only 7 times, you're gonna need eye drops if you keep that up." Robin rolls her eyes, noticing they were dryer than usual. She'd never admit Steve was right though. Suffering with dry eyes it is.
"I have not be staring-"
"Yes you have don't lie. You and I both know that Y/N comes in every Sunday in her fruit salad dress to rent Fast Times at Ridgemont High. You stare at her like a weirdo-"
"Hey!"
"Don't interrupt." Robin huffs, not liking the taste of her own medicine she gave Steve back at Scoops Ahoy. "Anyway, you stare at her like some weirdo and then she comes by to check out, you either A: don't say a word and let this awkward silence drag on or B: you have word vomit and talk the girls ear off."
"What does that have anything to do with Kiwis?" She doesn't give Steve enough credit sometimes, how much he notices. Robin spent most of her youth doing everything within her power to not be too noticed. Popular enough to not be lonely, isolated enough to not draw attention to herself. It's a careful balance that she has crafted over the years, and Steve always manages to throw a wrench into things in her life.
"That's what I'm guessing she's gonna come in with this week. Last week you went on and on over her strawberry sundress, and the week before it was lemon, and before that it was blueberry-"
"Fruit salad dresses. Yes. Got it. Noted." She barks out, cheeks growing uncomfortably red.
"Yea and she always matches it with a necklace-"
"Earrings. She matches the earrings not necklace."
"Earrings, whatever. Quite honestly I don't understand how one person can have so much fruity themed attire... unless-" She knows where this is going, and doesn't like it at all.
"Don't even start Steve." Robin walks to the backroom, not wanting to listen to his theories anymore. Keith left some paperwork they've been procrastinating on. No better time than the present to get it done.
"Maybe she's more into cherries than bananas, or likes both cherries and bananas. I know for a fact she likes cherries, no girl who rents Fast Times at Ridgemont High every week and returns it at 53 minutes and 5 seconds doesn't like cherries!" Steve quickly follows behind Robin, abandoning the front desk all together.
"What are you even talking about Steve? Cherries?"
"It's code Robin. Cherries are boobies"
"Ugh don't say boobies." Robin rolls her eyes, grabbing paperwork from the back and walking towards the front desk. A much needed distraction from Steve.
"But it's true! You like boobies, I like boobies, Y/N likes boobies!"
"Y/N does NOT like boobies Steve. You're out of your mind." Robin is reshuffling the same stack of paper over and over again. Trying to look busy, maybe Steve will drop it now. She can't focus on updating inventory if he's talking her ear off.
"Ugh yea, she does. The pause times don't lie Robin. I don't know why you don't just ask her out." Robin knows he means well, but he just doesn't understand. If it wasn't for that Russian truth serum she never would have told Steve that she was gay, especially after he admitted his crush on her. She was lucky that Steve is such a great guy, because if he were anybody else, she could have been outed to all of Hawkins. Being gay in Indiana is not all sunshine and rainbows, and her life would be living hell if anybody knew. If she asked Y/N out, best case scenario she turns her down gently, and keeps her secret. Worst case, Y/N tells everyone and Robin waltzes into Hawkins High with carpet muncher spray painted over her locker.
There were rumors that Terry Johnson, a senior when Robin was a freshman, was gay. Apparently she was caught with some cashier girl behind the gas station near the outskirts of town. Everyday her locker was covered with sharpie, a variety of slurs and graphic depictions of genitals graffitied the space. She ended up dropping out of school and getting her GED, couldn't handle constantly getting harassed by all the Reaganites of Hawkins. Robin couldn't live with that, she can't take the risk.
"No Steve, I will not ask her out"
“But,”
“Drop it Steve.” She knew he was frustrated with her. To him asking out a girl is no big deal, if she says no then he only has a bruised ego to heal. If Robin asks the wrong girl out, she could have bruises more painful than that.
Steve paced around the store, clearly not wanting to drop the conversation. He sighed and slowly dragged himself behind the front desk, wrapping his arm around Robin's shoulder for comfort.
“Look Robin I’m sorry. I’ll let it go, but can you really blame me? I just want my best friend to be happy that’s all.” Robin leaned against his collar bone, allowing herself to sink into him. Despite all of the trauma from last summer, she couldn’t imagine her life without him. It was nice to have at least one person she didn’t have to hide herself from.
The two stayed like that for a moment, before the chime of the front door bell rang. Steve quickly removed his arm from Robin, but not before the girl at the door saw how close they were. Y/N L/N was standing there, in a short white dress with small cherries patterned throughout. She had large cherry earrings on, and some sparkly clips in her hair. Her pouty lips painted red, and blunt nails manicured with bright green nail polish. She had a contemplative look on her face, eyebrows furrowed and eyes quickly switching focus between Steve and Robin.
"Are you guys busy?" Y/N asked, arms crossed against her chest, she gave a pointed to look to Steve before shifting to a shy smile to Robin.
"Not at all, Welcome to Family Video, my name's Steve. How can I help you today?" The rehearsed lines flowing easily out like muscle memory.
"I'm alright, just looking around for now." Y/N headed to the Comedy section of the store, not so subtly eyeing Steve and Robin together. Once she was out of earshot Steve turned to Robin, a big cheesy smile on his face.
"Y/N likes cherries."
"No shit, she's wearing a cherry dress." Steve was shaking his head, hair flopping around like an over excited golden retriever.
"No, Y/N likes cherries." Steve winked. Robin rolled her eyes, not this again.
"Steve-"
"No listen. Did you see the look on her face? She was jealous!" Robin scoffed, but her heart started to beat a bit faster in her chest.
"If she was jealous, and I'm not saying she was, it was probably about you." She really wished he would just drop it, let her yearn in silence. She didn't want to hope he could be right. Hope was a dangerous thing.
"No Robs. She wasn't jealous of you, she was jealous of me. You didn't see the stink eye she gave me?"
"You're imagining things."
"And you're in denial, smooth sailing the S.S. Robin to Cabo."
"Cabo?" Robin asked, not sure where he was going with this.
"The city in Egypt? You know the Nile River? Denial, The Nile?"
"That's Cairo, dingus" Steve rolled his eyes. Steve scoffed, he graduated from high school already, didn't need a geography lesson. He suddenly jumped over the counter, eyes alight like he was about to charge into battle.
"You know what, I'm gonna prove it to you!" Steve jogged over to where Y/N was, giving Robin a thumbs up as he left.
"Steve! Steve! Shit." He either didn't hear her or just completely ignored Robin's protests. With Steve it could go either way. Robin pretended to reorganize the stack of paper as she looked at Steve talking to Y/N. She couldn't hear what they were talking about, but by Steve's body language she could tell he was laying it on thick. Robin was gonna kill him. She began furiously shuffling the paperwork, not paying attention to her surroundings. She didn't notice that someone had walked to the front of the desk.
"Um, excuse me?" Robin whipped her head up and promptly dropped the stack she was holding. One of the papers slicing into her pointer finger.
"Ow, god I hate paper cuts." Blood started to pool at the top of her finger, pain radiating down the length of it. Robin may have fought inter-dimensional monsters last summer, but paper cuts were her one true enemy.
"Oh no! Are you okay?" Y/N asked in concern, her cherry lips pulled into a frown.
"Me? Oh yea I'm good. Totally fine. It's just a small cut. I don't have like, sickle cell anemia or anything. So I won't like, bleed to death because my blood can't coagulate. My blood coagulates just right. My pediatrician says I have excellent blood pressure." Y/N giggled at Robin's rambling, and she just begged her mouth to just. stop. talking.
"Would you like a bandaid?" Y/N asked, eyes glittering under the fluorescent lights. She was so nice, and pretty, and Robin was just standing there bumbling like a fool.
"Um, yea, if you have one to spare, I guess." Y/N nodded and started searching her wicker bag. Robin saw Steve waving his arms at the corner her eye. She turned her head to look at him to see him mouthing something.
"What?" Robin couldn't understand what he was saying.
"She. Wants. Nothing. To. Do. With. Me." He says, as if that's any indicator that Y/N bats for the same team. His game wasn't as good as it used to be when he wore the title of King Steve.
"So?" Steves eyes were bugging out of his head. Like him and Robin were speaking two different languages.
"Found one! Some cleaning spray too" Y/N cheered and Robin turned back to face her. "May I?" Robin nodded, her mouth deciding to finally listen to her brain and shut up. Y/N smiled and sprayed some disinfectant on the cut, then opened up the bandage to wrap around her finger.
"There you go! All better... Ya know my mom always said that kissing a paper cut makes you heal faster, maybe you can ask your boyfriend to do that?" Robin couldn't understand the look on Y/N's face. Like she was searching for something.
"Boyfriend? Me? Ha! No. No boyfriend for me. Noooope." Y/N smiled then, pleased with her answer.
"So you're not with that Steve guy?" Robin laughed, if she got a dollar for every time someone thought she was dating Steve she could finally afford to buy a new bike.
"No, we're friends. Totally platonic, with a capital P!" Y/N's smile got bigger and Robin was totally not dying a bit inside. Totally.
"Cool um, can you check me out? I mean, check these out. The movies, not me. You know what I mean." Y/N stammered out.
"Yeah, uh can do." Steve was hiding behind a cutout of Molly Ringwald, silently begging Robin to keep the conversation going.
"Fast times?" Robin asked, noticing the movie was on the top of stack as usual.
"Ugh yea it's my favorite I rent it all the time."
"Every Sunday!" Robin blurted out, instantly regretting it. It sounded less creepy in her head.
"What?" Y/N's head tilted to the side, and Robin wished the mind flayer would come back and go all Invasion of the Body Snatchers on her. At least then she might have some cool left in her.
"Ugh, Sunday. You come in every Sunday to rent it. I ugh, noticed it. Um, you never finish it all the way through though. It's always stopped at 53 minutes and 5 seconds when you bring it in. Did you not like the ending? I do that sometimes. With movies. I always stop the Rocky Horror Picture show right before Dr. Frank N. Furter gets shot with the laser gun. He was my favorite character, and there's only so many times you can watch your favorite character die before you get sick of it. Shit, I totally just spoiled the ending for you didn't I!" Robin was drowning, she could feel the pressure in her chest. She was absolutely blowing it. Now Y/N probably thinks she's a loser. She's definitely never coming back to Family Video again.
To Robin's major surprise, Y/N laughed. It wasn't the I'm totally making fun of you right now kind of laugh, it was a genuine laugh, like she thinks Robin is actually funny.
"No worries, I've seen Rocky Horror. Funny enough, I actually play Janet Weiss at the live show every Halloween." Robin was flabbergasted. She's been to that show before, but she didn't recognize her.
"Really? I've seen it, last Halloween actually. I had no clue that was you." Y/N giggled, twirling the strap of her bag around her finger.
"Yea, you probably wouldn't recognize me with the wig and makeup I have to put on. Did you like the performance?" Robin did like the performance. A lot.
"Yea you were excellent! Definitely deserved a Tony for Touch-A Touch-A Touch-A Touch Me." Y/N ducked her head down for a moment, covering her face with her hand. Robin hoped she didn't embarrass her, she really meant it. That performance alone was the highlight of her Halloween, for a number of reasons.
When Y/N looked up again, her smile was gone. A nervous look replacing it on her face, Robin couldn't help but miss it.
"I know this might be weird, but I ugh, was wondering if you wanted to hang out sometime, maybe? Pretty in Pink is showing at the theatre, and I don't know about you but I'm a big fan of Molly Ringwald. I really liked her in Sixteen Candles... almost as much as I like Phoebe Cates..." Y/N wasn't making eye contact now, the graceful twirling of her purse strap replaced with an iron tight grip. Robin was speechless. Holy shit Steve might have actually been right.
The silence was stretching for too long, she knew that. But Robin couldn't move a muscle, her mind racing with all of the possibilities this could lead.
"You know what, um, forget I said anything haha. I think I totally read this wrong..."
"Nope! You didn't! Not at all! She'd love to go! Wouldn't you Robin?" Steve rushed over, knocking over the Molly Ringwald cutout he was hiding behind.
"What?" Robin finally spoke. Her brain deciding to function normally again.
"You. Y/N. Pretty in Pink. Does Friday work for you? Robin has off that day." Steve suggested. She didn't have off that day, but with the amount of times she's had to cover for Steve for his dates, it looks like he's finally paying her back for it.
"Ugh yea, Friday is perfect. Um is that okay with you?" Y/N speaking to Robin now, her pearly smile finally finding its way back.
"Yes! Yes Friday! Friday is great! I um, don't have a car or even a license so I would have to ride my bike there. I don't think it'll rain, if it does I can just bring a jacket or-"
"I can pick you up?" This couldn't be happening. Any second now Robin's alarm was gonna go off and she'd wake up from whatever dream she was in.
"Yea. If it's no trouble..."
"It's no trouble at all! Um, do you have a pen?" Robin raced over to the register, knocking over the pen case that permanently had its place there. She handed Y/N the red marker they used for documenting fees.
"Thank you, may I?" She held out her hand and Robin placed her palm in hers, hoping it wasn't too clammy. Y/N hands were soft, she probably has some fancy hand cream she uses all of the time. No ones hands are naturally that soft. Y/N flipped over Robins wrist and pulled up her sleeve, giving her space to write. Steve grabbed the stack of films Y/N had left, finally cashing her out.
"This is my phone number, I have my own line so you don't have to worry about asking for me. Call me when you get out so I can have your address." She finished the final digit and added a little heart on the end.
"Here are your movies, that'll be $9.50 today." Steve handed Y/N the plastic bag as she searched for her wallet.
"Yea, will do. I'll um- I'll see you on Friday?" Robin stuttered out. Steve handed Y/N her change, and as she walked away she back turned to the two of them, cherry dress twirling around her figure.
"It's a date." The chimes of the front door rang as she walked out, bag in hand and a pep to her step.
"Y/N likes cherries." Steve said, in an i-told-you-so kind of way. Robin laughed, allowing him the win.
"Y/N likes cherries."
A/N 2: If you guys liked this I'll make a part two! As always let me know if you wanna be tagged in any fics. I'm writing for Eddie, Robin, and Steve currently. Will probably add Nancy at some point.

notoriously yours | jay park
Tumblr media
✰ summary: jay park is a rich kid. it’s safe to say he has everything every broke college student on his campus could dream of and more. but the one thing he doesn’t have, which money definitely can’t buy, is a girlfriend. and his friends won’t see of it. literally.
so what happens when his friends bet him to date someone for more than three months? what happens when jay decides that fake-dating someone would be easier than actual dating (because god forbid Jay–the campus’ notoriously known fuckboy–decides to commit to something once in his life)?
and what happens when that someone is you, his childhood best friend he hasn’t spoken to in years..who has absolutely no interest in being in his life anymore?
✰ pairing: jay park x y/n [ft. members of enha]
✰ genre: fluff, comedy, angst | fakedating!au, college!au, childhoodbestfriends!au, (kinda) e2l!au
✰ warnings: cursing, nothing suggestive but jay's a fuckboy so slightly suggestive themes, mentions of parental neglect/leaving, it's hella long (and i thought my last fic was long)
✰ wc: 14.7k (how did i get it this long oh lord)
✰ author's note: picture creds go to original owners/editors! peep that edit of jay that lowkey inspired this entire fic 👀also this took me so, so long bc i lost motivation half way thru and bc college is a thing,,,so i honestly don't know how to feel abt it so pls bare with me :')))) ALSO the dividers are weird bc idk how to add more than 10 pics for the dividers so pls excuse those ٩(× ×)۶i hope u guys enjoy!! <333
⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺
Jay Park is a rich kid.
Jay Park has enough to buy every textbook he needs for his courses without having to look up the free versions online. Jay Park has enough to bribe his professors to let him pass every class with a perfect 4.0 GPA (but because the boy has morals, he doesn't). Jay Park has enough to afford a car to drive to his furthest class from his dorm building instead of walk or bike like every other college student, meaning he also has enough to afford a parking spot on campus (those things aren't cheap!).
Jay Park walks around your school's campus like he owns the place (and considering the amount of money his family has donated to the school, he practically does), looking like he just walked out of your local coffee shop's newest fashion magazine. His blonde hair is never seen untouched, his attire usually consisting of an undoubtedly high-end all-black fit, accessorized with multiple earrings and rings that probably cost more than all the overpriced textbooks you had to rent out this semester. It's safe to say that everyone knows Jay Park.
Bottom line is, Jay Park has everything.
Well, his friends beg to differ.
In their eyes, Jay Park has everything but a simple factor in the equation of love (or whatever love is to the minds of a couple of 19 year olds): commitment.
So yes, it's safe to say that everyone knows Jay Park. Because everyone knows he's the campus' rich fuckboy. (What's a college fanfic campus without one anyways?)
Jay doesn't go unreminded of this by his friends, to the boy's annoyance.
Jay is aware of this on a Sunday afternoon, in his dorm building's first floor lounge, where he and his said friends are having a study session.
They're doing anything but studying.
In fact, no one has any books out or anything. Not a single laptop in site.
"You don't think it's the slightly bit concerning?" Jake's words are muffled as he continues munching on the fried chicken that he spent majority of this study session debating if he should have it delivered through UberEats or not.
"I really don't, no," Jay shrugs as he continues mindlessly scrolling through his Instagram feed. They're having the same argument conversation that they've revisited multiple times over the course of their friendship, one that Jay has been lectured on too many times for his own good. He thinks his friends could become his new parents if they really tried.
"Look at it this way, okay. You're about to graduate college in a couple of years, into the big world. Like the actual, adult world. And that means you'll have to settle down. Which you can't do when you. have. no. commitment!" Jake punctuates each word with a single clap of his hands, desperate to get his point across.
Jay simply rolls his eyes. He looks over to Sunghoon, who's minding his own business, not bothered by the same topic he's heard over and over again. His eyes tell Jay you're on your own, in response to his blonde-haired friend's look of despair.
Jay thinks that maybe he should get new friends. Yes, that's the only solution here.
"My love life," Jay reaches across the table for a drumstick from the greasy tub seated in Jake's lap until Jake swats his hand away, "is none of your business. Also, ouch."
"Uh, it kinda is. Because of you and your reputation around campus, it kinda affects us, your best friends. How do you think we look, hanging out with the guy who's known to ghost every girl in existence after one night with them? No offense to you," Jake deadpans to him. Jay mentally reconsiders the term best friends.
Tough love. Jay tells himself it's tough love.
"Yes, because every girl totally hates Jake Sim, the teacher assistant of a physics class who volunteers at the pet shelter every Sunday and brings their pet golden retriever to campus every two weeks," Jay rolls his eyes at his Australian friend.
Jake sighs. "Okay, then I'm coming from a place of worry for you."
Jay groans. "Again, none of your business!" This doesn't stop Jake. He comes from good intentions, really, but Jay wants nothing more than to stuff the kid's mouth with some of that chicken to shut him up.
"What are you gonna do if one day you meet someone you like, genuinely like, and you screw yourself over because you've never been in an actual relationship before? A real, committed one. Like one that lasts at least three months."
"You don't think I can last three months in a relationship?" Jay questions the boy currently taunting him.
"Honestly? No. What's the longest relationship you've been in?" Jake cocks an eyebrow at his friend across from him.
One month and two weeks. But Jay's smart enough to not say that out loud.
"I can so last over three months," Jay mutters more to himself than Jake.
Jake laughs at that, pausing to take another bite of the drumstick in his hand. "Jay, I am willing to actually bet you. Bet that you wouldn't be able to." He leans back on the couch, the ball now in Jay's court.
Jay freezes, looking up from his phone, narrowing his eyes at Jake.
"Forget it, Jake. He's not gonna agree even if you offered him money," Sunghoon finally perches from beside him. Well he's not wrong. It's not like Jay is exactly in need of more money, per say.
"What kind of bet are we talking here?"
Sunghoon's right. Jay doesn't need the money, but he does hate being wrong. Even if it's over something as stupid as this matter.
Caught off guard by the blonde's answer, Jake blinks blankly at him and takes a second to think.
"Hmm..what about...what about if you can date someone for at least three months, and I mean an actual, committed relationship, then I'll do all of your physics homework next semester."
Jay's eyes sparkle at that. If there's anything he despises more than commitment, it's physics.
"And if I win, you have to buy all of my textbooks," Jake sits back from the edge of his seat with a smirk lying on his face.
Jay pauses to think about it. I mean, what does he have to lose? A couple hundred dollars over college textbooks? No. Because he just simply won't lose.
And maybe he'll learn what it'll be like to actually be in a committed relationship for once. Maybe he'll finally learn what it's like to actually devote yourself to someone, open up to them. He shivers at the thought. Never mind. He'll warm up to it. Baby steps.
Nonetheless, what could go wrong? Even if he does lose, at least his money would be going somewhere productive––towards his friend's education. Jay was probably gonna use that money on something useless like a blanket that resembles a tortilla (a burrito blanket, he calls it)––something he doesn't necessarily need, but must have, he would argue.
"Fine. Whatever, okay. Deal," he grabs Jake's extended hand in front of him and shakes on it.
Jake's impressively smiling at the boy as Sunghoon lets out a sigh, in disbelief with the two guys he calls his best friends.
Jay concludes that this will be easier than his Introduction to Photography 101 course he took his freshman year. How hard is it to find someone to date the Jay Park? Surely, everyone will be lining up once Jay switches his FaceBook relationship status from "it's complicated" to "single".
Tumblr media
Turns out, it's not as easy as his class where all Jay had to do was take pictures of a pretty sunset, slap a VSCO filter on, and call it a day.
He comes to this realization on a Wednesday evening, as he's seated at one of the many study tables lined in the middle of the campus' library, staring down at his phone's dry iMessage app, with his laptop and blank sheets of scratch paper scrambled across the entire table, as an attempt to look half as studious as the other students studying in the facility.
Turns out, being known as the campus' fuckboy who ghosts every girl on campus isn't a good thing when it comes to wanting to find a real relationship.
He comes to this realization after failing to receive a single text back to the many ones he sent out throughout the first half of his day. The ghoster gets ghosted. Oh how the turn tables.
Jay groans dramatically as he tosses his phone on the hard surface of the table, earning himself a harsh shush from the librarian filing books in the aisle beside him.
He sheepishly smiles back as an apology, directing his attention back to his open laptop screen, where his untouched calculus homework stares back at him––his mind preoccupied with the looming threat of Jake's bet. Not that it was threatening in any way, per say, but Jay just hates losing. And from the looks of things, it's safe to say that Jay won't be celebrating any victories anytime soon.
Jay thinks he should just change his identity and just transfer to some boarding school in Switzerland. Yes, that's a much better solution than admitting defeat to Jake.
Jay sighs as he lies his head on the table, figuring he might as well just write the check for Jake's textbooks now. He wonders how he got here in the first place. Not how he got into the bet, and definitely not how he's sitting in the middle of the library, having yet to start his calculus homework due at 11:59PM tonight (he should really start that).
But no, he wonders how he gained the reputation as the campus' playboy. To be fair, his friends (mainly Jake), are constantly reminding him of his notorious habits. But how did they come a habit in the first place?
The idea of being in a relationship is nice, sure, but the commitment that comes with it? The idea of being dependent on someone? It's scary, vulnerable, and one that Jay can't picture for himself.
Maybe some people just aren't meant to be paired. Maybe some people, like Jay, like being independent and are meant to stay that way.
But Jay also likes affection. He likes the fleeting, warm feeling he gets every time he finds himself under someone's sheets. He likes the short-lived comfort he receives from someone else's touch, even though he knows it's going to cease to exist the second he steps out of those bedroom's doors. He just likes affection, simple as that.
That and he's a 19 year old teenage boy with needs, what did you expect?
And so what if he likes the idea of affection minus commitment? Is that so bad? Apparently it is, to people like his friends and the entirety of his school's campus, at least.
At this rate, he might as well pay someone to date him.
Wait. Jay lifts his head off the table's surface in realization.
He might as well pay someone to date him.
There's no harm in that, is there?
He wouldn't have to endure through an endless amount of dates to find someone he clicks with, then continue going on dates with said clicked person, all while trying to develop an actual, serious relationship.
He'll win the bet, get his physics homework done for an entire semester, and some lucky girl out there will be making profit for the small price of hanging out with Jay Park for three months.
And lucky for him, Jay knows the perfect candidate for this scheme.
Simple as that.
Just as long as said perfect candidate says yes.
And as long as Jake and Sunghoon don't find out. Or else Jay might really have to move to Switzerland after all.
Tumblr media
You love your friends, you do.
Hana and Heeseung have been there for you when others haven't––they were by your side when you knew no one entering high school, and they were still by your side when you were all graduating said high school. Needless to say, you're eternally grateful for friends like them.
But right now, in this moment––with you seated in the middle of the campus' library, trying to write your essay, as your two friends blabber on and on about the most recent gossip across from you––your two friends could be your villain origin story.
But again, you love your friends, you do. So you don't have the heart to tell them to leave. You've managed to naturally tune out most of the conversation, anyways, for this––your friends coming to hang out while you're trying to study––is no rare occurrence by any means.
"Oh yeah, Jay Park texted me last night."
You hate how your brain's filter suddenly turns off at Hana's words.
You hate how your ears catch the sudden mention of Jay Park's name.
You hate how the thought of Jay Park gets to even occupy a single brain cell of yours.
You hate how you even know who Jay Park is. Well, knew.
Past tense. Because up until eighth grade––when Jay decided to just suddenly pretend you didn't exist––he was attached to you like a koala to a eucalyptus tree.
And if you had asked past Y/N, ideally, Jay would've never left your side. Ideally, he would've never left you to fend for yourself when entering high school. Ideally, he would've stayed your best friend through out all four years of high school and ideally, you would've eventually told him how you really felt about him after growing up with him all your life. And maybe it would've lead to a completely different story. But for the sake of this fic, we don't live in an ideal world.
So yes, if it wasn't for his attendance at the very same university as you, you would've forgotten about the boy who brought you the painful memories of your childhood.
And since the universe clearly doesn't work in your favor, avoiding Jay Park's existence like he's the plague would have to suffice. And it works.
For the most part.
Until some people, bring him up uninvited into your conversation. Like now, for example.
"When was the last time you guys talked anyways?" Heeseung mindlessly asks as he reaches across the table to grab one of the many snacks you usually bring to your study sessions.
"Uh..like a few weeks ago. Give or take. Whenever you threw your house party. Can't say there was much talking involved however," she teasingly says with a giggle and wiggle of her brows.
Heeseung's rolling his eyes as you scoff and chuck a nearby crumpled piece of paper that was once one of your many essay drafts at her.
She bats it away right as it's about to hit her face as she laughs. "Doesn't matter anyways. He ghosted me the next morning, as he does with everyone else. Telling you this now," she extends a finger right at you, "stay away from Jay Park. That kid's just bad news."
You nod in response, mentally telling her she has nothing to worry about.
Been there, done that.
Tumblr media
College. Ah yes, the very concept of spending four years of your life imprisoned on a campus where you'll be tearing your hair out from stress and spending all your life's savings just for a laminated sheet of paper with a golden stamp at the end of it all. We live in a society.
Because of said college, and all the weight that comes along with it, you had adapted a strict daily schedule in order to not completely lose your mind. It's a simple schedule really, one of a typical college student who's just trying to get by everyday with as little mental breakdowns as possible.
Wake up, get ready, go to class, go to the library to do your homework, walk all the way across campus to get back to your dorm, shower, then sleep. Oh and eat, of course. And maybe if time permits, be an actual social being and socialize.
It's gotten you this far into the college life without dropping out so, you conclude, you must be doing something right.
Sometimes, if you're feeling nice to yourself, you'll tweak the schedule a bit to fit in some exceptions. Maybe squeeze in a little trip to the bubble tea shop that's on the other side of campus, or maybe get dinner at that one dining hall that you don't usually go to because of the unncessarily long lines (but because they serve ice cream, you go anyways). It doesn't matter what the exception is, you still plan it out to fit into your schedule somehow. Everything is planned out.
Sometimes, however, the universe disagrees with your schedule, to your demise. Such as today, for example.
Because what you didn't expect for today was for a particular blonde-haired boy who you haven't spoken to in almost six years (but who's counting?) to approach your table in the library––a table you were sure no one could find you at, as it was quietly tucked away in the back corner, right next to the Astrophysics shelves. Because who browses the Astrophysics aisle for fun? Actually, maybe Jake Sim would. Anyways.
You definitely didn't anticipate a visit from the boy you've been actively avoiding, so you definitely didn't expect the first words coming out of his mouth when he sees you for the first time in six years to be:
"Fake date me."
You blink up at him.
Yeah, definitely not expected.
But you only let it phase you for a split second, until you feel a slight annoyance beginning to bubble up deep inside of you.
"Wow, hello to you too Jay! It's been what––half a decade? Yeah I've been pretty good, thanks for asking!" The sarcasm is practically dripping off your tongue.
You don't know what runs through Jay's mind, but apparently it isn't common sense––or the ability to read the room. Because next thing you know, he's sliding the chair across from you out from underneath the table and making himself at home.
And he's smiling right at you.
Curse him and his smile.
But no, you're not giving into it.
Not yet, at least.
"What do you want?" You deadpan at him when he makes no sign of making the next move.
"A girlfriend," he deadpans right back at you, as if he was casually telling you what he wanted for dinner. As if you two were close-knit friends that could approach one another without any proper greeting. As if you two had kept your friendship all these years. As if you two even had a role in each other's lives.
"Can't help you there," you scoff, deciding to not even question his lack of manners on top of his uninvited presence.
"Aren't you gonna ask me why?"
"Well gee, seeing that the first few words you decided to say to my face for the first time in forever were a demand, a demand to date you no less, then....no," your monotone voice says as you keep your eyes focused on your laptop screen, not daring to look at the boy across from you.
In the Introduction to Sociology course you took your freshmen year, you had learned of one important term: interactional vandalism. Textbook definition being: "ignoring signals of disinterest in a conversation, leading it to an offense."
Your definition being: "are you oblivious or just plan dumb, read the room!"
This was interactional vandalism, alright. Whether Jay's truly oblivious or just trying to annoy you until your head explodes (it's really the former, but you're convinced it's the latter), he takes your signals of disinterest and tosses it right out of his head to continue the conversation.
"I'm stuck in this stupid bet with Jake--do you remember him? He bet me that I couldn't date someone for more than three months and I figured having someone fake date me would be easier than actually dating someone, right? That's where you come into the equation," he proposes as he leans back in his chair, as if he had just finished a sales pitch to a prospective customer looking to buy a car.
You couldn't believe this. You're 98% sure this has got to be a prank. You're mentally preparing for a camera crew to jump out from in-between the library's aisles any moment now and scream into your ears that you've just been punk'd!
The remaining 2% of you, however, wouldn't put it past the two boys to get themselves in such a situation. The last memory you had of Jay and his friends were pretty much their childish selves back in middle school. And by looking at the current scene unfolding in front of you...it's needless to say they haven't changed much.
"Again, can't help you there. Ask one of the many girlfriends I thought you had." Ouch.
"But Y/N, you've known me all your life--"
"Up until you dropped me a few years ago but sure, let's call it that."
"--and convincing other people is gonna make me look--"
"--desperate? Yeah."
"C'mon, Y/N. What do you have to lose anyways?"
"Uh..my dignity? Pride? Self-respect? Sorry Jay, not happening," you turn your attention back to your unwritten essay in front of you, mentally checking out of this conversation. This would be a good time for that camera crew to jump out now.
"Look, no one else is gonna do it, Y/N." Jay has always been stubborn, you suppose. But so are you.
"Yeah, because you've managed to push every being of the opposite gender away from you. You gave yourself this reputation in the first place," you give it to him straight. It's not like you had a relationship with him to uphold anyways––Jay himself broke that friendship years ago.
Jay hates that you're right.
You're always right. He remembers how he used to always go to you for advice and clarity on the world's biggest problems. Granted, the world's biggest problems to him at the time equated to what he should dress up as for the fifth grade Halloween party, but still. A tough decision, for the mind of a ten-year-old.
You abruptly stop typing and begin putting your laptop and textbooks away as you huff in frustration. There's no point in trying to get your work done now. The longer you stay arguing with Jay, the bigger your headache gets. The longer he continues to occupy any part of your brain, the bigger your headache gets.
Getting up from your seat, packed and ready to slam your head into your pillow, you turn to the blonde one last time.
"Look Jay. We went on our separate ways years ago. If you weren't so notoriously known around campus and my friends would stop talking about you, I would've long forgotten you. I'm sorry you're in this situation, really. If I were you, I'd just tell Jake I can't do it. Or don't, I can't tell you what to do. Just don't get some innocent girl involved in whatever stunt of yours this is."
Jay stares at you, mouth agape, as you find your way out of the library and through the main doors. By the time he comes back to his senses, he realizes how he looks plain stupid––standing in the middle of the library, the look on his face screaming befuddlement, to say the least. Jay quickly makes his way out of the building, in hopes of convincing you one last time.
Jay catches sight of your figure already half-way down the walkway that connects the library to the main quad of your school's campus. Geez, you walk fast.
Not fast enough to outrun Jay's legs, however. If Jay running after you through the middle of campus in order to convince you to fake date him doesn't show how desperate he is to win this bet, I don't know what will.
"Wait, Y/N!"
You groan to yourself before turning to face the boy who can't seem to take a hint and leave you alone. You stare at his out-of-breath state as he heaves up and down from the slight jog he had to endure to get to where you are. If you're humored by him chasing after you, you do a good job of hiding it.
He meets your unimpressed state before stating his final proposition: "I'll pay you. Five hundred dollars."
You nearly stop breathing.
Now this catches your attention––after all, you're but a broke college student who's just trying to survive. And preferably not by feeding yourself instant ramen cups every night.
And so, naturally, you begin rethinking about the opportunity presented in front of you. You narrow your eyes at the boy as you weigh your options.
The first problem being, it's Jay Park––the bane of your very existence. You spent the last few years of your life pretending he didn't exist...for good reason. Not only did he do you dirty when you were merely a couple of 13-year-olds, but you just didn't want to be involved with someone like him. Someone known for his nature, someone who left your own current best friend ghosted. And not that Hana herself would care, for she has called herself the "female Jay Park", but you're sure this would be breaking some rule in the girl code handbook. Plus, if you agree to this, you'd be betraying 13-year-old Y/N, the one who decided to never speak to nor think of Jay Park again––which by now you've failed, but you get the gist.
Second problem being, three months is a long time. Three months is practically the rest of this semester, and did you really want to spend the rest of the semester tied down to the label of being Jay Park's girlfriend? There would have to be some negative connotations that came along with that title, right? No offense to Jay, but being his first girlfriend since, what, high school could make you come off as..naive, for lack of a better term. As if the only person you could settle for was Jay Park. As if you barely had any standards for yourself. Again, no offense to Jay.
Needless to say, if your school's debate club had to argue on why you shouldn't be doing this, you're sure the negating side could win with these two reasons alone.
But before you're rejecting the boy currently standing in front of you one last time, you find yourself mentally listing rebuttals.
First of all, you'd be getting paid. And again, you're merely but a college student living the stereotypical broke college student life––burdened by the costs of tuition, textbooks, and midnight McDonalds runs for when you're out of aforementioned instant ramen cups. Five hundred dollars could provide you with more than enough chicken McNuggets to last you the semester, and maybe some more to treat yourself to an online shopping spree.
Second of all, it's not like you were going to do anything better with your next three months anyways. It's safe to say you were too busy being a diligent student to actually look for anyone to date, per say. And if anything, having a fake boyfriend might actually be helpful in your case. Your mom would be off your ass about how you're still single, for one. And two, your friends (though it's really just Heeseung) would stop trying to hook you up on blind dates with guys that you would choose Jay Park over any day (and that really says something).
Third of all, it's Jay Park. As much as you despise the kid, you still know him. He's not a complete stranger to you, no matter how much you try to deny it. It could be worse, it could be a complete rando asking you to date him. At least you two have some sort of history, which would take care of the typical small talk and getting to know each other bit of this equation. And truth be told, you'd be lying to yourself if you said you weren't a tad bit satisfied by the fact that Jay chose you, of all people, to pull off this stunt with him. You don't know if it's the nostalgia of your childhood memories rushing back to you, but it reminds you of the endless schemes you two used to plan behind your parents' backs all the time. Granted, your childhood schemes––such as the both of you faking sickness so you could skip school together––don't even fall close to being in a fake relationship with one another, but still. It's the thought that counts.
All of those reasons plus, Jay isn't the worst to look at. He may have a spoiled reputation, but at least he has his looks going for him, you'll give him that (you're still secretly wondering when and how did he get his glow up, but don't tell him that).
And so by the guidelines of a college student's logic that states the pros outweigh the cons, you come to the overarching conclusion that maybe, this won't be so awful after all.
"Five hundred?" You ask, just for clarification. Jay's immediately nodding at your words. You continue to ponder on your thoughts as he stares at you hopefully.
The silent atmosphere of your campus heightens the tension so much, you swear you're in one of those overdramatic pausing scenes that occur too many times in k-dramas.
You sigh, then nod.
"Okay," you're internally praying that you won't regret this decision. "I'm in."
Tumblr media
The next time you see Jay is at 12:17PM on a Friday afternoon, as you're exiting the doors of the lecture building that's home to your awfully long Capitalism in the Western World class.
You're going down the steps of the building, mentally deciding where and what you're going to treat yourself to for lunch––as the three hour lecture you had just attended drained all the life and energy out of you––when you hear the slight call of your name.
Turning to the source, you're met with a waving Jay, leaning against the passenger's side of his car, parked in front of the lecture hall building you were currently leaving.
Great.
You walk over to where he's casually waiting––he's unaware of all the stares he's attracted from fellow students leaving the same lecture as you. Can you blame them? It's not everyday you see a sleek, black BMW that probably cost more than your tuition pull up in front of your Friday afternoon lecture. It's not everyday you see Jay Park waiting for anyone outside of his said sleek, black BMW that probably cost more than your tuition.
"Hi," you simply let out as you plant yourself in front of him, not sure whether or not to question him why are you here? Surely, he wasn't waiting for you?
"Hi," he smiles down at you. There's a beat of silence. "I was waiting for you."
Bingo.
"Oh. What are you, my chauffeur?" You raise an eyebrow, unimpressed.
"Maybe. I am your boyfriend, after all," he says into the air, loud and clear, as if he wanted people to hear. Well that is the point, you suppose.
But still, all you want to do is smack the smirk right off his face.
Before you have time to put your next question into words, he answers it for you.
"I'm taking you out for lunch," he declares as if you have nothing else planned for the day. Well, to be fair, you didn't have anything else planned for the day. Except for your usual library run. But you figure the library could wait.
"Oh, like on a date?" You raise your eyebrows teasingly at him as you get into the car, Jay holding the door wide open for you. "Is Jay Park treating me to lunch as a date?"
Jay fights the scowl (or is that a smile?) growing on his face as he bends down to meet your eye level from inside the car. "Don't flatter yourself, princess. We've got fake lives to live."
"Call me princess one more time and you won't have a real life to live," you flash him a sarcastic smile and slam the door in his face.
Jay meets his own shocked reflection on the passenger's side window.
Cute.

"When you said you were taking me out to lunch, I expected like...I don't know...the diner on campus. Not whatever this is," you mutter to Jay as the two of you are brought to your table by a waitress at an upscale sushi restaurant, one that is undoubtedly out of your usual budget, but for sure an upgrade from your dining hall's pizza you were planning to have. You should've figured as much, the drive here was a little more than out of the way from campus, and who are you kidding, it's Jay Park you're eating with.
You stare down at your current outfit, which consisted of a hoodie you've owned since your junior year of high school and leggings that you threw on without second thought this morning––because you didn't exactly wake up and decide I'm going to go to a fancy sushi bar for lunch today!
"Why are we here anyways?" You ask him when you're both settled in your seats and the waitress walks away after listing the chef's specials for the day.
"Oh, they have killer dragon rolls here, you have to try it," Jay tells you nonchalantly as his eyes rake the menu in front of him, blocking your view of him.
How dense can one be? Your hand snatches his menu as you stare into his unamused eyes.
"No, Jay. I mean, why are we here? It's not like anyone's around to see us put on a show anyways."
"Oh. I figured," Jay's quick to grab the menu back from out of your hands as he continues, "that we should sit down and establish how exactly we're going to deliver this performance. After all, you're stuck with me for the next three months."
Again, smacking the smirk currently resting on his face would satisfy you beyond relief. Just once.
"If I drop out halfway through, do I still get $250?" You tease, leaning back.
"Ha ha. Funny. No," he narrows his eyes at you from across the table. "It's all or nothing."
You dramatically huff to make a show just for his annoyance.
"Worth a try. But sure, let's solidify this. What's the game plan?" You sit up in your seat, leaning over the table as if the two of you were hosting a secret meeting.
"It's simple really," Jay mirrors your actions, face leaning in close to where yours is hovering over the table. "Just pretend to be deeply in love with me for three months, and try not to actually be charmed by my cunning looks."
If someone gave you five dollars for every time you've already rolled your eyes at him today, you wouldn't even need to be in this deal for the five hundred dollars.
"Wow, smooth. Can I just remind you you're the one paying a girl to be in a fake relationship with you because you're just not competent enough to find an actual girlfriend?" You lean back, arms crossing over your figure.
Jay, unfazed, laughs, tongue briefly hitting the inside of his cheek. "Touché."
Your eyes go back to the menu in front of you as a silence falls over the table. Because you're not a loaded trust fund baby who comes to fancy five-star sushi restaurants for lunch on a daily, you don't recognize half of the entree names on the menu. You spot the dragon roll Jay suggested, but seeing that a basic California roll is less expensive, your natural broke-college-student-instincts figure the California roll shall do.
"Okay, in all seriousness," Jay begins as he puts his menu down. "It's simple really. We'll just go on weekly dates and post cute pictures of each other once in a while and a little after three months, I'll just say it didn't work out. I'll give you the five hundo and boom, we move on with our lives."
It's clear Jay's put some thought into this. Safe to say he's put more effort planning this out than the amount of work he's been putting into his classes. Someone's got their priorities straight.
You're impressed to say the least––you figured Jay would just be the kind to go with the flow and wait for the situation to unfold on its own and maybe blow up into flames. But seeing as he was just as serious about winning this bet as you were with making five hundred dollars, your doubts about this entire situation were slowly withering away.
Don't get it wrong, though, you still despise him. To an extent, at least.
"And don't worry about the dates. I'll pay on your behalf, as the loving, doting boyfriend I am," Jay finishes with a wide, cheesy smile you can't help but return a growing smile back at.
"Well then, as the loving, doting girlfriend I am, I shall gift you coffee, breakfast, all that fun couple stuff, whenever you please. Or maybe unannounced, if I'm feeling nice," you figure you should pitch in as much if he's paying for all your dates. And deep down, you find the idea kinda cute. But don't tell anyone that.
"Wow, look at us. We should become Dispatch's couple of the year already!" Jay exclaims, earning himself a small giggle from you, which pleases him to say the least. He thinks that maybe when this is all over, he'll hopefully make a good friend (well, for the second time) out of it.
And you're thinking that maybe the next three months won't be as bad as you initially had thought.
As the two of you delve deep into a debate about who would be the better significant other to each other, the waitress comes over to take your orders.
And because you're laughing and Jay's brightly smiling at you from across the table, you order the dragon roll.
Tumblr media
The second time Jay takes you out––this time he gives you a heads up to get ready––it's at a, once again, high-class steakhouse.
The third time, you insist on the on-campus diner that's popular amongst the student population. Partially because you feel bad for the amount of money he's spent on you (even though he couldn't care less), but mostly because if you have to put on another fancy dress to just eat an overpriced meal that doesn't even fully satisfy your hunger, you might lose your mind.
And by this third time, Jake is aware of this newly blossomed relationship.
"Three dates! I didn't know you had it in you, going on three dates with the same girl!" Jake excitedly exclaims as he jumps into the empty spot on Jay's dorm bed and shoves his phone's screen into Jay's face.
The smaller screen displays Jay's most recent Instagram post: an image of you sitting behind your too-small-to-be-this-expensive-steak and smiling right into Jay's camera––a memory that brings a smile to his face:
~ ~ ~
"C'mon! We said Instagram posts would be a part of the deal! How else can we convince people we're dating?" A pout rests on Jay's face as he stares at you from across the table in the middle of the extravagantly decorated restaurant he picked out for your second date. You remember your eyes bulging out of their own sockets when you saw the "$$$$$" rating Yelp gave the place when you searched it up earlier.
"Okay, okay! One picture," you give in, already slightly annoyed that you were here instead of the comfort of your own bed, where you could be rewatching your favorite Netflix show for the third time. But because you made a deal and because you're desperate for money, you had to follow through––so here you were.
You flash an unconvincing smile to Jay's camera, which doesn't satisfy him, to say the least. "At least pretend you're somewhat enjoying this date," he frowns at you.
You sigh, until a thought crosses your mind and a smile grows on your face. "Only if you get me boba afterwards."
He narrows his eyes at you, but then meets your smile. "Sure, whatever you want. But only because I've been craving some mango milk tea lately."
"You're a fruit milk tea kind of guy? Sorry, but I might have to fake break-up with you," you tease as you take a sip of your overpriced drink to go with your overpriced meal.
Jay scoffs, feigning hurt by placing his hand over his heart. "Ouch. But before you break up with me, let me get this Instagram post in."
"Wow. Your priorities are so straight," you roll your eyes at him, eliciting a cheeky smile from him as he watches you through his held up phone screen.
"3,2,1."
"Hey, I wasn't ready! That was like mid-laugh!" You reach over the table to grab the phone, but not quick enough for him to put his phone back into his pants' pocket.
"Nope, nuh uh," he laughs as you quickly sit back down into your seat, not wanting to cause a scene in an establishment as proper as this one.
"It's fine. It's a good picture, you look cute," he casually lets out, unaware of the blush rising to the surface of your cheeks, thanks to the fact that you were suddenly interested in playing with the left-over food on your plate.
"Jay! Delete it, I'll let you take another one," you whine from your seat, imagining just how bad a candid picture of you could be.
"Ugh, fine. Ever so picky." He playfully rolls his eyes at you as he takes his phone out and opens the camera app as you prepare yourself.
"Okay, how's this?" Jay turns the phone screen to you after he takes a few snaps on his phone.
"I approve," you grin at him as he goes through the pictures himself, unaware of the smile growing on his face.
"Okay now delete the first one," you point your finger at him, narrowing your eyes at him.
"Okay, okay! Bossy," he laughs as he raises in hands in surrender.
When Jay gets home that night, he recovers the image from his Recently Deleted folder, telling himself it's for the sake of the memory.
Obviously.
~ ~ ~
"It's not that big of a deal," Jay mutters from his spot as his eyes go from the Instagram post to his Exile and Belonging in Modern Literature reading that's due tomorrow, bright yellow highlighter in hand. Typically, you'd find the reading buried deep at the bottom of his school backpack. But because Jay ran into you this morning and because he complained to you about the amount of work he's fallen behind on and because you had threatened him to do his work or else you're not going on another date––a fake date that is––with him, he figured he should at least get one reading done and annotated, despite his strong dislike for highlighters (they hurt his eyes, okay?)
What he doesn't know, however, is how your threat was completely full of bluff––but don't tell him that.
"It is so a big deal, for you at least!" Jake hops off the bed and lands on the wooden floors of Jay's dorm room so hard, Jay winces and sends a mental apology to the poor person who lives below him.
Jake suddenly gasps. "I have to meet her, Jay! As your best friend, it's practically mandatory that I meet her."
Jay opens his mouth to protest, but not before Jake interrupts him once again. "Oh! We can bring Sunghoon too, it'll be so fun! The best friends meet the girlfriend."
Jay can't think of anything worst. Jay imagines that bringing you to meet his best friends would just intimidate you out of dating him––fake dating him, that is. Obviously.
He stares at his friend in agony then back at the reading in front of him––the one Jake said he'd come over to help annotate, but the intention completely left Jake's head the second he heard about Jay's recent dating life.
"You don't have to meet her," Jay says pointedly. "Plus, you already know her."
Jake frowns at his friend's excuse. "Yeah, but that was in middle school! This is different."
Jay's hands shuffle through the reading's pages in front of him as he realizes there's no way the two of them are going to finish the assignment at this point. He supposes he'll have to save death by blindness from highlighters for another day and hope you still agree to go out with him.
Jake suddenly gasps in realization.
"Oh my gosh! Childhood best friends turned college sweethearts," Jake says so dreamily, he might as well plaster heart eyes on. Hopeless romantic, this one.
Before Jay can argue, the piercing sound of three loud knocks echo through the small room, followed with a:
"Jay, are you in? It's me!"
Jay stills at the sound of your sweet voice. He whips his head to Jake, who is also frozen in place.
But the widened-eye boy is quick to come to his senses––unfortunately quicker than Jay himself––because the next thing Jay knows, Jake's eyes are lighting up and he's running to the door, ignoring Jay's screaming whispers through this seething teeth that were somewhere along the lines of Jake––stop, I swear to god if you open that door I'm gonna fucking--
"Y/N!" Jake swings the door wide open, revealing an overly excited him and a frozen Jay half-way to the door, as if he was about to grab the very boy welcoming you in. It's as if we're living in a Sims game and the player clicked pause on this very moment.
Jake's eyes are wildly going back and forth between you and your supposed boyfriend, as if he was waiting for Jay to run over and smother you in hugs and kisses...or something couple-y like that. Jay wouldn't know.
"Uh––hi," you're awkwardly standing inside the room now, a relatively large paper brown bag resting in your palms as you look around for a surface to place it on. Jay makes his way to you without a second thought, quickly taking the bag out of your hold.
"You seemed stressed out earlier, so I figured I could bring you some food as a little pick me up. I didn't know what you liked, so I kinda just got a little of everything from the dining hall. Nothing fancy," you're rambling, but smiling so excitedly at him, Jay doesn't know what to say.
Instead, his mouth slightly drops open as he stares at you in awe, mostly because he's not used to being on the receiving end of such spontaneously generous actions––all while Jake's still excitedly looking back and forth between the two of you, as if he was expecting a marriage proposal to come next.
"Oh wow. Thank you. Really," Jay, still touched by your simple act of kindness, softly says as he places the bag on the limited amount of empty space on his desk surface––the rest of it is covered with his untouched textbooks and unfinished assignments. He wonders if you did this out of playing your role or just because you wanted to. He internally hopes it's the latter. "Seriously, you didn't have to do."
"Nah, don't worry. I wanted to," you shrug with such a genuine smile that Jay realizes he actually missed your smile.
Despite having seen you during your brief run-in this morning when you were fetching your morning coffee, Jay realizes he missed you. The two of you haven't been seeing each other recently because of your busy schedule and if Jay didn't realize it before, he's now sure he missed your company and presence around.
Weird.
"Well, you two have fun! Sunghoon needs me for something," Jake suddenly chirps from his place near the front door, halfway through with putting his shoes on already, breaking the comforting silence that fell between the two of you.
Jay frowns. "But you said you were free all da––"
"SUNGHOON IS CALLING BYE!" And before Jay can even register what's happening, Jake's out the door without another word.
"Er..sorry about him, he's...weird," Jay scratches the back of his neck as he returns to his spot on his bed, mentally setting a reminder to yell at Jake later for leaving the two of you alone. Jay doesn't know exactly why, but he's nervous at the fact that you're here in his room. It's not like you two are complete strangers––or whatever you guys were before––anymore. "Good job on your part, though. How'd you know Jake was here?"
"Oh uh, I didn't"," you let out an awkward laugh. "I just felt like doing it."
Heat rushes to Jay's cheeks and he's not sure 1) what this newfound feeling is and 2) how to respond, yet again.
Having expecting you to leave after dropping the food off, Jay's taken by surprise when you take your shoes off and come over to his bed to look at the pile of work he's spread out.
"Is this everything you have to do?" You question the stressed-out boy as you flip through the various assignments, readings, and essays he put off in the past week.
"More or less," he groans. This is no rare occurrence by any means––Jay being behind in his work––but this time, Jay realizes he may actually be in deep shit, considering he has no idea where to begin.
Right as Jay's expecting a scolding from you, he looks up to meet a look of sympathy on your face. "Well, I mean, I'm pretty much done with my day. I can try to help, I recognize some of these readings from last semester."
Jay thinks to himself that the universe has sent him an angel through the form of you.
"Really? Wow, you were't kidding when you said you'd be a good girlfriend," he sends you a surprised look.
"I'm just being nice, Jay. A concept I'm sure you're not familiar with," you remark back at him, causing his forming smile to grow into a laugh.
"I can too be nice! Need I remind you of who's paying you $500, covering all of our dates AND giving you rides to class everyday?" He remarks pointedly at you, a teasing look resting in his eyes as you're reminded of the first of many times he's come to pick you up before class:
~ ~ ~
You're late.
This never happens.
But then again, your life's been a series of unexpected occurrences lately. Such as the fact that you're currently known as Jay Park's girlfriend, for one.
You're scrambling out of bed once you take one look at your phone and realize shit, you're already late for class. Throwing on whatever articles of clothing your eyes land on first, you're already mentally groaning at the fact that you'll have to skip breakfast and run across your campus to get to said class.
Curse your professor for hosting her lecture at the furthest possible building away from your dorm. Curse the architect who decided to make your campus so large.
You're running down the steps outside of your dorm building's doors when you're abruptly stopped by a familiar sounding cough. You look up from trying to gather all your belongings together at once to meet the gaze of the source of the sound––Jay.
"Wow, you're a mess," he smirks as he gets up from the spot on his car he was leaning against to make his way over to you.
"Gee, thanks! Good morning to you too," you flash him a sarcastic smile before your default frown quickly makes it way back onto your face.
"Aren't you gonna ask me why I'm here?" He grins as he grabs hold of your backpack to sling it across his own back as the two of you walk towards his car.
"Why are you here, Jay?" you sigh, your sarcastic tone hard to miss.
"To give you a ride to class, of course!" He's beaming at you, as if he's a pre-pubescent teen who just won their first girlfriend a prize from the arcade's claw machine.
Oh. That explains the car, you figure. Deep down inside, you're relieved that you'll no longer be bursting through the lecture hall's doors as a sweaty mess––a result of having to run across campus to get to class.
Determined to not let your satisfaction completely show, you resort with a little smile directed towards Jay as he opens the passenger door for you.
The second your enter Jay's car, the strong scent of coffee hits you, and your attention is targeted at the two small cups of coffee sitting in the cupholders of the car.
"Breakfast?" Jay asks as he enters through the driver's side and reaches into the backseat to whip out a small pastry bag. A small, deliciously smelling, pastry bag.
Okay, well. You suppose you could drop the annoyed act now.
Your eyes widen with joy as you grab the bag from him and open it to reveal your favorite breakfast sandwich. He's been taking notes, you'll give him that point.
"Okay, you win. Thank you," you grace him with a soft smile before taking a bite into the glorious gift in your hands.
"Of course, I was just feeling nice," he grins at you as he starts his car. "But don't get used to it." His tone is serious, but his smile directed towards you says differently.
And the fact that he still showed up to drive you to class the next morning.
And the next.
~ ~ ~
"And need I remind you who has to date your dumb ass for the $500 in question?" Your eyes narrow at the boy who can't seem to get that damn smile off his face.
Jay sticks his tongue out at you, ending the conversation. Really Jay? What are you, five? Well, mentally––probably.
You're looking around his minuscule dorm room for a place to sit down, and Jay can't help but feel embarrassed now that you're here, in his messy single studio room that pretty much reflects how Jay treats every other responsibility of his oh so hard life: neglected.
"Uh...here, you can sit on my bed," Jay immediately offers as he moves to the side to make room for your presence––and it isn't much, considering the university only provided him a twin XL bed which is definitely not built for two grown college-aged kids.
If you told yourself a few weeks ago that you'd be shoulder to shoulder on a bed belonging to the guy you cringed at the very thought of, you wouldn't have believed yourself. You wouldn't have believed yourself if you said you were actually glad Jay let you stay instead of kicking you out after delivering the food. Huh.
Weird.
"You know, this kinda reminds me of when we were kids. I always carried us through those horrible multiplication tests in the fifth grade," you wink at him as you settle in the spot next to him, hands grabbing hold of the papers in his lap.
Jay let out a laugh, nudging your shoulder with his. "Hey! The twelve times table is hard, okay?"
You roll your eyes at him––a habit of yours he's noticed whenever the two of you are together, but more recently, he thinks it's been more out of fun than annoyance.
He wonders why.

When Jay had first brought up the idea of bringing you as his date to his father's company dinner, you had expected a fairly fancy five-star restaurant with a formal dress code––for you've become accustomed to Jay's lifestyle. Turns out, your expectations can continue to be exceeded. Because what you had expected to be a simple dinner with a few other business men and women turned out to be an entire party, hosted in a hotel whose interior resembled something close to a castle (Or what you assume a castle looks like, as you've never personally been into a castle yourself, but this hotel is close enough).
Your eyes sparkle at the extravagant columns and diamond chandeliers hanging high above you, and Jay smiles at the expression on your face; like a little girl being brought to the amusement park for the first time ever.
"Wow, this is...wow," you mutter as you drink in the scene in front of you: people dressed in formal attire likewise to yours and Jay's, mingling and drinking what you imagine to be beverages that cost more than your entire life's worth.
Jay laughs from behind you, "Yeah the company goes a little...extra when it comes to these company dinners."
You scoff as you look up at him. "Oh really, you don't say?" You look around and you're suddenly aware of the many people surrounding the two of you and the attention you've acquired ever since entering the building.
"Jay, people are staring." You shuffle closer to him, your voice lowering down to a whisper.
"Well, it's not everyday the son of the company's CEO brings his girlfriend with him, so...looks like we'll be the talk of the party tonight. Smiles on," he winks at you, and you just know he's loving the attention the two of you are receiving right now.
"Jay Park? Is that you?" You hear a warm voice call out from behind the two of you.
The two of you turn around to meet the owner of the voice, a middle-aged woman dressed in an evening gown that matches the pattern of high-end brands you've been recognizing ever since arriving.
"Mrs. Lee! It's so nice seeing you again," Jay cheerily addresses the woman as the two of you bow in greeting.
You internally giggle at the thought of your Jay being so picture-perfect in the eyes of his father's co-workers.
"This is Y/N," he continues, his hand finding its way to your back, protectively resting it there as you go to introduce yourself. "My girlfriend."
You swear you feel goosebumps rise from where he's lightly touching you, and more so when he introduces you as his girlfriend.
You tell yourself it's just your nerves. Yes, that's it, you're just nervous. I mean, you're in a room filled with people who could easily pay off all your college loans with just a snap of their fingers, who wouldn't be nervous? Right? Right.
"Y/N! It's a pleasure to finally meet you, I've heard so much about you!" Mrs. Lee excitedly exclaims as you turn to Jay with a slightly confused look plastered on your face. He mirrors your expression as he shrugs, moving to stand behind you completely, bringing his hands to rest lowly at your hips.
His hands feel like feathers on the thin fabric of your evening gown, so light, so delicate, as if he's unsure if he's crossing a line. It leaves you wanting more, wanting to naturally lean against him and his warmth. You quick to shake the thought of your head as Mrs. Lee chirps up again.
"Jay's father is always talking about how you've been keeping Jay pleasantly busy nowadays! Good thing too, about time this poor boy settle down for someone as beautiful as you," the woman rambles on as you feel a blush creep up on your cheeks at the thought of Jay talking about you to his dad. If only they knew.
"We should probably go find our seats, I think the dinner is beginning soon," Jay says from behind you, saving the two of you from having to listen to Mrs. Lee's story of how she's known Jay ever since he was five years old and seeing him grow into this mature, loving, young man is so amazing. Oh look! I have baby pictures.
Yeah, he was more so saving himself from embarrassment.
The two of you bid your goodbyes before Jay gently uses the hand on your back to maneuver you through the crowd of socializing business moguls.
"She's not wrong, you know," you feel Jay dip his head so he's speaking near your ear, his warm breath tickling your earlobe, as the two of you make your way through the large foyer room.
"Hm?" You hum in question, turning your head up just enough to be able to make eye contact with him as he responds to your look of confusion.
"You look beautiful tonight," he says, eye contact not breaking once. You freeze in your steps.
You stare back at him in silence. Oh.
Your mind is panicking as it flips through your mental book of responses, unsure of what to say back. But because your mind is cloudy from staring at a put-together Jay in a dark navy suit to match your dress (mixed with the nervous butterflies in your stomach––have they always been there?), the only sound that's able to leave your lips is the small stutter of a:
"Huh?"
Wow Y/N, you had one job. A simple "thank you" could've sufficed! And you went with "Huh"?
You felt like a fifth grader who just learned from a friend of a friend of a friend that their crush likes them back.
"U-um. Mrs. Lee. What she said about you. You look good, really," somehow your nervousness made its way over to Jay now––his eyes flickering from yours to anywhere, anything, else in the room––the awkward tension growing tenfold each second.
Goddamnit Y/N, this is just Jay you're talking to, get a grip.
You're knocked back into reality when he slightly nudges your back to continue making your way to the main ball room, where the dinner is being held.
"Is that a compliment from the Jay Park?" Your smirk can't be seen by Jay, since he's still trailing behind you, but he can definitely hear it through your tone.
"Don't make me take it back," he chuckles, his words felt against your neck, leaving behind a tingly sensation you're not sure why you're feeling. You're glad he's behind you, so he isn't able to see the blush creeping onto your face for the second time tonight.
Jay gives a small nod to the people behind the check-in desk stationed at the entrance as the two of you waltz right into a large ball room lined with countless circular dining tables. So much for a small business dinner.
As the two of you approach one of the tables placed at the front of the room, you notice a familiar figure seated next to the seats reserved for you and Jay.
"Y/N!" Jake exclaims as he gets up from his seat to greet the both of you. "I'm so glad you made it, Jay was so excited to bring you tonight. Deadass would not stop talking about it."
Jay lets out a noise that falls somewhere between a cough and a goose being strangled, his widened eyes warning his talkative friend to just shut up. He's silently cursing the company for always seating his and Jake's family at the same table for these events.
"Aw, is that so? He's lucky he's cute or else I wouldn't have agreed," you grin, winking at your assumed boyfriend sitting next to you.
"Hey, YOU were the one excited to come! I recall a certain someone's face lighting up when I suggested we go shopping for tonight," Jay immediately retorts.
"Only because you were buying," you giggle, causing Jake to laugh as well.
"Damn, Jay. Tough," Jake jokingly adds as you laugh alongside him. The scowl sitting on Jay's face expresses the opposite of what he's feeling right now: warmth filling him up from the sound of your laughter and the image of you getting along so well with his best friend.
"I'm gonna get us some drinks, you two have fun making fun of me," Jay narrows his eyes at the two of you as he gets up from his seat. You bid him off with a smile before turning back to Jake.
"No but really though, this boy would not stop talking about you coming tonight. Then again, he doesn't really ever stop talking about you," Jake nonchalantly says, not knowing how much he was exposing his friend to you right now.
You raise an eyebrow up in response, "Oh really?"
"Seriously! I don't know what you did to him, Y/N, but this Jay I've been seeing recently is new. He complains a lot less about life nowadays, especially on the days he sees you," he leans back in his chair as his comment brings a smile to your face. Little does he know.
You stretch your neck up to find the boy in question and spot him right as he's returning to your shared table, two drinks in hand. You lock eyes with him from across the room and without a second thought, you're giving him a genuine smile that he's immediately returning.
Your heart beats faster at the view.
You wonder why.

It's 3:07AM when you hear the first ding.
You're not 100% sure as of why you're awake at this hour on a Tuesday night––perhaps a combination of your restless thoughts and feelings not letting you sleep plus the typical stress that comes hand-in-hand with the life of a college student.
It's 3:09AM when you hear the second ding, and you brush it off, assuming it was just Heeseung spamming you with memes again––something he does often when he also can't sleep (you found this out the hard way).
It's still 3:09AM when you hear the third ding, and at 3:10AM , you finally reach over and decide to acknowledge the being who's bothering you at this godforsaken hour.
Jay [3:07AM]: Y/N
Jay [3:09AM]: hi
Jay [3:09AM]: r u awake rn
Y/N [3:10AM]: unfortunately so
Y/N [3:11AM]: why are you up
Jay [3:11AM]: come outside
Y/N [3:13AM: jay it's 3am
Jay [3:13AM]: ye and? don't tell me ur a college student with a curfew
Jay [3:14AM]: plus im alrdy waiting for u outside so u have no choice
Jay [3:15AM]: :)
You groan at your bright phone screen currently illuminating your dark dorm room.
You ponder the consequences you may have to suffer tomorrow if you stay up any later than you already have. But considering the fact that you're probably just going to stay awake lying in bed for god knows how long anyways, why not?
(And you would like to point out that this decision has nothing to do with the fact that you haven't seen Jay in a few days and that maybe a tiny, tiny, tiny, part of you may have missed his presence. Nothing.)
And since that logic is obviously valid (you really gotta work on justifying your life choices), you're suddenly grabbing a hoodie from your closet and hoping it'll be enough to keep you, who's merely in an old band t-shirt from high-school and pajama shorts, warm.
The breeze hits your skin the second you open the doors to your dorm's building, and you're met with the view of Jay's sleek, black BMW that probably costs more than your tuition. He waves at you from the driver's seat, motioning for you to get in.
"To what do I owe you the pleasure at this hour," you deadpan at him with a stone-cold voice as you enter through the passenger's side door, hoping your tone was enough to hide the fact that you're giddy at the fact he invited you out at 3AM in the morning. Like a high-school girl sneaking out of her house to meet up with her bad-boy boyfriend that her parents dislike.
The second you enter his car, you're instantly comforted by the warm air blasting through his vents and his playlist softly playing in the background. Jay's pajama pants and messy hair give you more than enough information to know that he probably just rolled out of his own bed as well. You don't know why, but your view: Jay in his oversized hoodie with his unkept hair in front of your dorm building at 3AM on a Tuesday night, gives you comfort in weird ways you can't explain even if you tried.
But it's obviously just your cloudy, 3AM mind not thinking straight. Obviously.
"When I can't sleep, I go on drives around campus. It helps clear my mind," he says, looking over at you to give you a quick smile before starting his car. "Plus, SnapMap said you were still awake, so...figured you'd wanna join."
"Oh so what, you're my stalker now? You're not driving to the woods to kill me now, are you?" You tease, an eyebrow brought up. Jay lets out a laugh from beside you as he begins to drive further into your campus.
"Guess you'll just have to wait and see," he throws you a wink before reverting his gaze back to the road, mindlessly driving to wherever the road decides to take him.
A comfortable silence falls in between the two of you as Jay continues to drive endless routes around your campus. You look over to the boy driving next to you and take in his features––you don't know what changed, but you no longer feel the same anger or annoyance bubbling within you when you're around him. You're not sure when this changed, but you figure it's just the effect of desensitization. After all, you've been spending so much time with him, you're bound to get used to it. Right?
"Why were you up?" Jay finally asks after a few minutes of just the two of you silently basking in each other's presences.
"Ah, you know. The usual. Endless thoughts running through my mind, stress from school, nothing new," you sign, giving him a soft smile followed with a shrug.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
You answer him with silence as you search your head for the answer.
"I don't know. This is kinda weird, isn't it?" You don't know why you get a sudden surge of confidence, but before you can stop yourself, you find yourself rambling on. "If you had told me a month ago that I'd be here driving around with you when it's nearly 4AM, I would've laughed in your face."
Jay doesn't know whether to laugh or scoff. "Is the idea of hanging out with me that unappealing to you?"
You give him a serious look back. "I mean, up until a month ago when you needed me for whatever this game is, you literally pretended I didn't exist."
Oh. Awkward.
You freeze at your own words, mentally screaming at yourself for letting the words leave your mouth. Why, why, why.
"Y/N..." Jay says after clearing his throat after a few seconds of silence.
"No it's fine, it was a joke," you awkwardly cough and direct your attention to anything else around you right now. The view of your campus' buildings zooming by. The clicking of Jay's blinker when he switches lanes. The quiet roaring of his car's engine. The nervous tapping of his fingers against the steering wheel.
The rest of the ride is excruciatingly silent as he exits the main road and into an empty parking lot of some administration building made out of glass that has too many floors for you to count.
You don't know why you feel your heart beating in your throat as Jay puts the car into park––why you feel uneasy. You slightly turn towards him in your seat, hoping to pick up any sign of well...anything from him.
You don't know why you feel a twinge of guilt––it's not like what you said was necessarily wrong. If you were being honest, you were slightly bothered by how the two of you seemed to silently agree not to mention your past all this time. You were always one to seek answers, to seek closure. You couldn't help but bring it up––Jay was your best friend during those years. For him to just wake up one day and pretend you were nothing to him hurt you, and you couldn't help but still wonder what in the world you did to initiate his actions.
"I'm sor–" You're interrupted with his timid voice, as if he was almost afraid to speak.
"I'm not good with people." He's nibbling on his bottom lip, fingers nervously picking at a spot on the steering wheel.
You're opening and closing your mouth, unsure how to respond. You're 100% positive you look like a fish right now. Good for you.
"I don't know why. Jake calls it commitment issues but in order to have commitment, people have to stay in my life. And people just...don't. They're all bound to leave at some point. So what's the point of putting in effort into relationships if they're just going to leave you at the end?"
You're stunned by his sudden confession, not having been prepared for such a heavy topic to arise between the two of you. Up until tonight, your interactions had always been light-hearted and easy––you guys got along well. You didn't know this is how he felt all along.
But you knew where he was coming from.
You knew what Jay had gone through as a child––his mother having left him and his dad when he was young. You remember when your parents had told you the news at the young age of 13, and you remember the pain and sorrow you felt for your then friend. All you wanted to do was go to him and comfort him, but he had already cut you out from his life by then.
"Or maybe I'm the problem. My dad barely acknowledges my existence because he thinks giving me an allowance is all the parenting I need, my friends probably only stick around because they feel bad for me, you wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the bet, and, fuck, I'm literally known as the campus' fuckboy," Jay continues, falling deeper and deeper into the hole he dug himself.
He hates this, he hates opening up and feeling vulnerable, so he doesn't know why he's doing it now. He doesn't know why he feels comfortable voicing out his fears and worries when he's around you. But he does know it's a new feeling––one he doesn't know how to deal with.
"Jay," you lace your voice with as much comfort as you can provide. None of this is his fault, you want to tell him. "I'm sorry."
"Why are you sorry? You didn't do anything," he says with a hint of bitterness and you can't tell if it's directed towards you or the topic at hand.
You're completely turned in your seat now to face him––despite the fact that he refuses to meet your gaze, afraid that looking at you is gonna bring out the most vulnerable in him. "You can talk to me. Talking about it makes it a lot easier. I'll always be here for you, as a friend."
Jay doesn't know what it is or why, but something in him snaps at the sound of a certain word falling out of your lips. Friend. Friend.
Friends don't make his heart beat nervously whenever he's around them. Friends don't keep him up at 3AM in the morning, pondering about his feelings for them. Friends don't provide him with this new, warm comfort he's become accustomed to whenever he's around you.
Deep down, Jay knows you didn't mean to add fuel to the fire. But because he's strong-headed, stubborn, and hates how vulnerable he feels next to you, he unleashes his emotions without thinking about the destruction coming along.
"It's none of your business, Y/N. Forget I said anything. You're just a toy for this stupid game and when it's all over we can go back to our own lives and forget this ever happened."
His sudden words cut deep, but they hurt him more than you. The second the words tumble out of his mouth, he's hit with the feeling of instant regret washing over him, and the lump forming in his throat restricts him from finding the right words to take them back.
The silence that falls between the two of you this time is different. It's a cold silence. A loud silence.
Jay feels his walls coming back up around him––the ones you managed to get through––and all he wants to do is apologize but he's terrified. Terrified of seeing your reaction, terrified of losing you again. For the second time.
You tell yourself he doesn't mean it. You tell yourself that he's just enduring more pain that one should ever receive.
But you also tell yourself that this wouldn't be the first time Jay leaves you in the dust.
You tell yourself that you're foolish for ever believing a friendship, or more, could come out of this act at the end. That you're so naive for feeling those stupid, stupid butterflies you've started to notice in your stomach whenever you see, or even think of, him.
"Okay," you begin with a firm tone. You're hurt, but you refuse to show it. You won't let him hurt you for a second time. Not again.
"Just...find me when you need me. As your fake girlfriend or just...me. I'm still here for you," is the last thing you say before un-clicking your seatbelt and leaving his car, beginning your walk back to your dorm hall.
Jay is unsure about many things in life. He's unsure about what he wants to do in the future, he's unsure of where he's going to settle in life, heck, he's unsure about what to have for lunch tomorrow. But he's sure about one thing.
That he's wearing his heart on his sleeve right now, and it's all because of you.
That you've become this new lifeline and he has to choose between holding onto you or drowning.
Tumblr media
When Jay wakes up the next morning, his first gut instinct is to get ready to pick you up for class. But today's different. Jay doesn't know where the two of you stand now, especially after last night.
Jay doesn't know how to deal with this combination of unknown emotions he's been feeling lately. They didn't come out of no where, by any means, he realizes. They've been slowly growing over the past month of seeing you so often––like a plant he's been watering overtime, not expecting it to bloom into a flower so suddenly––but he figured it was nothing more than just enjoying the company of a friend.
Until he realizes that the term friend just doesn't suite you anymore––not to him, at least. And that scares him. It scares him that you've made him genuinely smile more in this past month than he ever has in his 19 years of living. It scares him that when he's around you he can't comprehend his own thoughts, his feelings. It scares him that you make him vulnerable, that you've changed him. That you've managed to make the walls that he's spent so long building and polishing to crumble with a simple tap of your finger.
In a perfect world, Jay would have already told you all this––he would be unafraid of how you would react, unafraid of your rejection, unafraid of losing this growing relationship with you. But alas, we don't live in a perfect world. And so when Jay drives to class that day, he drives right past your dorm building.
"Where's Y/N?" is the first thing Jake questions when he enters Jay's car that morning, confused by your absence, having been used to you being in the front seat every morning when Jay goes to give Jake rides to class as well.
"I don't know," Jay mutters, unemotional eyes focused on the road in front of him, not interested in continuing a conversation that involves thinking about you.
Jake hesitates as curiosity gets the best of him. "Did you guys get into a fight or something?"
Jay's hands tighten around the steering wheel of his car. "Or something. Let's just leave it at that."
There are a few beats of silence before Jake speaks up again.
"Well, I guess this works out because I wanted to talk to you about something."
Jay continues to stare straight ahead of him, focusing on just trying to get by without mentally beating himself up at the simple thought of you.
The simple thought of you and your smile. Your witty remarks. Your stupid eye rolls. Your laughter. Your kindness. So much for not thinking about you.
"I'm calling it off," Jake's words catch Jay off guard.
"Huh? Calling what off?"
"The bet. I'm calling it off. I don't care about the textbook fees I'll have to pay next semester. Look, fight or not, you and Y/N are good for each other, everyone can see it. And I really don't want this to end up being one of those messed up teen TV shows where the girlfriend finds out the entire relationship was based off of a stupid game and then they break up and the boyfriend falls into eternal sadness and regret. And I don't wanna see you sad, dude. So yeah! Congrats," although he's admitting defeat, Jake's beaming widely, just content with the fact that his best friend has finally found happiness through the form of you. "You win."
But Jay feels like the opposite of a winner. Because even though his only intention coming into this was simply winning the bet, his life isn't as simple as it was a month ago. Because he discovered something much more valuable than some stupid textbook fees or five hundred dollars or getting his physics homework done for an entire semester.
Something he's scared he's already lost.
You.
⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺
The next time you see Jay is at the same time and place as when he first ever appeared to pick you up––at 12:17PM on a Friday afternoon, as you're exiting the doors of the lecture building home to your awfully long Capitalism in World History class. This time, however it's different.
Because this time, it's one month later, and Jay Park is no longer a forgotten side character in the story of your life. This time, you're frustrated because it's been three days since you've last heard from Jay. And because it's been three days since you've last heard from him, you can't focus on anything else, and because you can't focus on anything else, you're falling behind on every other aspect in your life. Jay's somehow managed to become the center of your life without even having to be present.
Well, up until now. Up until you go down the steps of your lecture hall's entrance and look up to be met with a figure leaning on a car you're far too familiar with. You freeze in your steps as you make eye contact with the boy you've been thinking about non-stop for the past month three days.
Your mind tells you to walk away, to just follow your flight instinct instead of fight, to just go back to your normal life. But here's the thing. Ever since Jay's made his way back to your life, it's been far from normal.
And if you're being honest, you had no interest in going back to your normal life. Normal's overrated anyways. You find your legs bringing yourself over to him, your heart leading the way.
"Hi," you simply say, planting yourself right in front of him.
"Hi."
"What are you doing here?" You already know the answer, but you want to hear him say it.
"Waiting for you," Jay doesn't hesitate in answering you. This time will be different, he tells himself.
"I can walk myself home, thanks," you state, but your actions tell differently, as you make no sign of moving from your spot in front of him.
Jay's mind contemplates telling you everything. About how he regrets that friendship-breaking decision he made that one fateful day in the eighth grade, about his true feelings, about how he first suspected these feelings when he was 11 years old and saw you in your fancy get-up for the sixth grade dance but put it off as a little crush, and about how the same feelings grew into something so, so much more in the present. But seeing that putting all these thoughts into words would involve more than one functioning brain cell (which is all he's convinced he has in the moment, for the view of you staring up at him, looking like that, has his brain short-circuiting), he settles with:
"He called it off. It's over. The bet."
"Oh."
Silence.
Okay, Jay. This is your chance. Say it.
"Is that it?" You lift an eyebrow, awaiting for more explanation. When it doesn't come, you slightly nod and start backing away. "I'll see you around then."
Is that it? Do the two of you just go back to your respective lives now? How can Jay do that, when he doesn't even recall what his life was like before you entered it––and especially when he has absolutely no interest in going back to that life?
Fuck it.
"Y/N!" He stands up straight, a newfound confidence taking over. This time will be different, he tells himself. Because now, he knows what he wants. For sure.
You turn towards him, to see him already making his way towards you, stopping in his steps when he finds himself close enough to you that he can't concentrate anymore.
"I'm sorry for ditching you in the eighth grade. I'm sorry for ignoring you since then. I'm sorry for dragging you into this stupid mess and for pushing you away and I'm sorry for calling you a toy. Because it's far from truth. I like you. A lot. And––and I'm scared. I'm scared of what this means for us, because I just keep messing things up and all I know is that I don't wanna wake up tomorrow and realize you're not in my life anymore and––"
"Woah, woah, Jay. Slow down," you look up at him, the corners of your lips threatening to curve up into a smile. "You're an idiot, you know."
Jay's never really confessed his feelings to anyone before, per say, so he doesn't really know what to expect. But he's watched enough Netflix rom-coms in this lifetime (which is still not that many) to know that hearing the words "you're an idiot" isn't what you're supposed to hear after pouring your heart and soul out. Surely not, right?
"I––I'm not sure how to respond to that," he quietly says, searching your eyes for a sign, for anything. You giggle at his sudden shyness as you grab both his arms and look at him right in the eyes.
"It's okay. I get it, if anything, I'm also scared. But you somehow got me wrapped around your stupid finger, and I hate it," you smirk at him, your hands slowly making their way up his arms to circle around his neck.
Jay's hands naturally fall at your waist as he lets out a breathe he didn't even know he was holding as he returns your smirk. "Well, I could say the same about you. And I also hate it, for your information."
"Hmm, is that so? I guess it cancels out then, right?" You smile at him as he's pulling you in so close, your head turns cloudy.
Jay grins at you, his eyes holding so much joy and endearment as they quickly flicker down to your lips before returning to your own eyes. "I guess this only means one thing then."
"Mm, and what's that?"
And before Jay can answer––and because your life's been anything but normal lately––you make the first move this time, moving your head up to close the small gap between the two of you.
His arms instinctively tighten around you as you capture his lips with your very own, and Jay swears he's about to lift off into space right now. He's on cloud nine, and he makes no plans to touch the ground ever again.
The kiss quickly becomes fervent, all the pent-up tension that the two of you had for one another finally finding its way out, all the words that were previously left unsaid finally expressing themselves. You don't even care if you're being judged by the conservative faculty members of your school right now, or by the looks of fellow students walking past the two of you.
You try your best to keep yourself from smiling as he continues to press his lips against yours, his hand moving to hold your chin, guiding your mouth with his.
Before you find yourself getting carried away, you step back to take a breath, resting your forehead against his chest as his hands rest against your back. He smiles at the sound of you giggling against him.
Jay takes a step back to take one look at you and realizes, in this moment, that change can be good. And he's willing to undergo this change. As long as it's with you.
⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺ ⸺
The next morning, you bounce down the steps of your dorm building's entrance to meet the wide, bright smile of your ex-childhood-bestfriend-turned-fake-boyfriend-turned-real-boyfriend waiting for you in front of his car, small pastry bag in hand. You smile back at him.
Jay drives you to class that day.
And everyday after that.

𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐈𝐝𝐥𝐞 — chapter 1
vi x reader
words — around 2500
summary — vi and y/n are both stuck in pretty uncomfortable situations. while one can't move on with her love life, the other is forced in un unhealthy friend group. they are also both really into love stories and fake dating seems the best way to turn their life in to a romcom. and possibly to get rid of their all problems all at once.
author's note — i finally posted this and i'm kinda proud of how it turned out. just keep in mind i'm dyslexic and english is not my first language so you might find some mistakes. thank you for being patient ♡
sometimes love is not enough.
violet and caitlyn broke up after six months of dating and four months before the beginning of september. the reason for their separation can be found under the "mutual agreement" section of reasons to break up and from there they had decided to remain friends. nothing would ever have erased the fact they cared about each other even if they were not in love with each other anymore. unfortunately, the rumor didn't go around. they ofter were asked if everything was fine between them the few times they weren't having lunch together or why they started coming in separate cars but nobody believed them when were told they were not together as a couple anymore.
even when they were sitting in class together, next to each other, scrolling through their Instagram feeds and sending each other memes while waiting for the professor, they heard their colleagues whispering. some comented about them enter the classroom together. caitlyn used to ignore their conversations until some mentioned how she was probably going to have that redhead following her around out of pity. she must have put her hand on vi's shoulder several times to keep her from getting up and creating problems.
violet's bad temper was never a secret, but that situation brought out her worst self. she would often bite the inside of her cheeks or tap the surface of the desk to distract herself from the nonsense she was forced to hear. sometimes she would see you in the back of the class, sitting at your desk with your laptop open and a cup of coffee in your hand. you were trying to seem interested in what your friend said, which was usually about exams, courses, grades,... college life in general. she was talking about how she was gonna take her dad's law firm once she graduated, but you really didn't care.
"i've never seen her"
"that is sophia murphy. she is the type of person who thinks the world owes them something." caitlyn observed while checking the hour and putting her phone away. lesson was going to start soon. she closed her bag, placed it next to her and looked at the girls chatting in the back of the classroom. she could recognize some of them. "i've seen the girl with the leather jacket with them a couple of times, but i don't personally know her."
sophia wasn't a bad friend, but she wasn't a good person, either. she had that false sense of moral superiority that she was desperately trying to grab onto to feel good about herself. wanted to feel important, special, loved. wanted to feel like she was worthy of the position she held — the queen bee. Yet, whenever you had a problem she was always the first to try to resolve the situation. too bad she was the issue this time.
you were trying to focus on whatever he was saying, even though you couldn't care less about his test next week. you didn't really care about her as a person, either. she sat next to you once, pulling out her parents' names, and from there you became the sixth member of her exclusive group of friends. at that point you had thought of every possible way to escape from them, but every excuse was never enough.
"are those two still together?" it was sophia's best friend who focused on the girls sitting in the third row from the chair. violet had her head on the desk and hidden between her forearms. the neon pink hair was scattered across the sleeves of the jacket. caitlyn kept looking at the clock over the blackboard and you could see her impatience from the back rows. you were pretty sure this wasn't even her class to attend but she was still there, sitting next to her friend or girlfriend or whatever.
"thank god not anymore. i mean, i have nothing against gay people, it's just caitlyn is way out of her league... i'm almost sorry for her" sophie started. she was sitting in the row in front of you, three-quarters turned towards you and you could see the pink lip gloss glowing a little under the classroom lighting. "she is probably going to have that ginger around for a long time, poor thing. i'm pretty sure that one will not get over cait, she is way more then she was supposed to get. she'll end up a crazy cat lady or something"
•♡•
after the last class of the day, violet just wanted to go home. caitlyn had left an hour earlier and they had greeted each other fast before she could be late. it was four in the afternoon, she was tired and when she felt the car seat under her and the familiar vanilla scent she knew the day was almost over. she was tempted to stop by the cafeteria, but the desire to leave held her back. she took a deep breath, put her hands on the steering wheel and then carried her left one in her pocket.
violet didn't have time to take her car keys out of her pocket and the passenger seat door opened. you came in, with two cups of coffee in your hand. you handed the first to the girl and then drank a sip of yours. the car was clean, neat, flawless. you didn't expect all this care from a person like her, whose bandages were often worn out. there was a car freshener hanging from the mirror.
you were calm, as if you were doing the most natural thing in the world. it seemed like you have done it for years while vi couldn't realize what was happening. it almost seemed like she was watching the scene from the outside and grabbed the coffee cup without thinking about it. she held it in his hands for a moment, feeling the warm on her hands and then put it in the cup holder in the middle of the seats. you turned to her and giggled and took another sip.
"this is a really nice car! i love how you decorated, you must really care about it!" you said, looking around. you noticed the pastel green sweater, her teal backpack on the backseat and the neon colored doodles on the sun visor. it was probably unscrewed since it was dangling. you looked at her straight into her bright, blue eyes. "anyway, i want you to date me".
"come again?" she asked immediatly.
"you know daphne simmons? the redhead in the art history course? apparently, she has been into your ex girlfriend for a while now but she doesn't want to ask her out because she thinks you two are still together" you said. you had your body facing the pink-haired girl, you leaned your elbow against the seat and moved yourself a little forward in her direction and your free hand dropped on your thighs.
"how do you know?" vi asks. she couldn't quite believe it since she has been trying to figure out if that redhead was into girls for a while at this point even before caitlyn admitted she had a crush on her. purely in the name of friendship, of course! she was trying so hard to find hints to the point she thought her itintuition was not as good as she though and you not only knew, but you also told her she had a crush on her friend. she was in total disbelief at your words.
she still had her hands on the steering whreel, keys still in her pocket. she tried to find a logical explenation for your speech and, in general, for that situation. she didn't understand why one of the prettiest girls in her year was in her dad's car talking to her how she knew daphne simmons had a crush on her ex girlfriend. she snorted and tried to assume the most confident expression she could do.
"i love drama, but that's beside the point" you giggled "my friend group is kinda conservative, but you must know that. my parents want me to be their friend but if i happened to date a girl they wouldn't want to have anything to do with me" she could see a sparkle of joy in your eyes. you had a grin of your face, the type of smile of someone who had something unbelievably stupid in mind. violet laughed, leaning her head on the steering wheel to hide her face.
"so.. you want me to date you so my friend can date her crush, i can move on and you can find a decent group of friends sto spend your time with?" she asked once she calmed a bit. she lifted her face trying to not laugh again and her blue eyes found yours. that conversation from unusual became absurd at least but she couldn't expect any better. your smile didn't fade.
"pretty much. let's start driving me home, how does that sound?" and violet turned the car on. you fastened your seatbelt and started tapping the coffee cup with your index finger. you put your bag on the mat, leaning against the car door. you were holding your phone against your thighs. you waited for her to leave the parking lot before continuing the conversation. vi didn't say anything beside asking were she was supposed to leave you.
"okay, let's say we are doing this. what's your plan?" vi asked once left the parking lot. she was trying to focus on the traffic and possibly not kill both of you before your plan could start. you could notice the various ear piercings she had: two helix and the industrial bar. you also noticed she had a nostril piercing, a scar on her lip and the bandages or her hand were slightly yellowish. you tried to stay focused on the fake dating thing.
"most people are not going to believe us if we just show up tomorrow saying we are dating because they either think i'm a homophobe or you are still dating your ex. or both." your eyes started to sparkle. you turned three-quarters to her again with your hands on your knees and dropped your head on the back of the seat. "so, we are going to follow my super strategic and romantic plan in order to make things more believable and that includes recreating my favourite romantic tropes every once in a while. or everytime, it depends."
violet giggled. the fact that she was a romantic comedies lover had never been a mystery, but she never expected to end up in the lead role. especially if the co-protagonist had presented herself as a stowaway in her car without having spoken to her once before. you didn't attend the same classes or the same group of friends, but in the meantime you were in her passenger seat suggesting what seemed to be the plot of one of her young-adult books.
"we aren't coming out. we'll let people speak about us, we'll be the elephant in the room everybody knows but nobody dares to address. things will be clear, but not official" you continued, playing with the edge of your t-shirt. you could feel your heart beating even faster. you never expected her to agree to be a part of your nonsensical plan, but it turns out you underestimated how much she cared about caitlyn. or it was just a lot more impulsive than you thought.
"i don't drive, so you are picking me up tomorrow. i'll walk you to your class and then we won't see each other for the rest of the day. on monday we'll do the same except we are going to have breakfast together. deal?" at this point, you didn’t think she’d agree. she seemed like a simple person and you came up with a super complicated plan to make everyone believe that you were together when you never even really talked properly. you heard violet giggle and she passed a hand in her hair. then she answered.
"deal"
your plan was pretty simple, but it was maybe a little... cheesy. you talked about the details more carefully on the way and also why you couldn’t walk home like normal people. you said it was the price to pay for the coffee cup she left in the cup holder. you agreed on how many photos and stories to post on instagram, even if you were sure you would be the only one posting in the beginning since you were the most active on social media.
you arranged for a breakfast photo on a saturday morning, made at your house, bought croissants from the baker and arranged the table as if it had been prepared for two people. no faces or actual people in the photo, just the photo of the table ready for two people. you took a picture of vi driving to post in the stories the day after while coming home to make it clear that you were spending time together outside the university. you started following her on Instagram.
it was thursday when he made the deal, and you were pretty sure that the few students left in the parking lot saw you get in the car and leave with caitlyn’s ex-girlfriend. this wasn’t enough to start rumors about you, but seeing you coming together the next day and walk together to the classroom will get the work done. you thought you caught a glimpse of one of sophia’s friends, but you weren’t sure. they would see you two coming together next day anyway.
she left you near grafton street shortly after. you went home.

"How on earth did he even manage to get there?" you mumble, drilling into the suspect with your eyes. The only thing that was currently keeping him from dropping 100 feet to his death were the ropes and the firefighter next to him that was making sure he got down as graciously as possible. Even though he did not deserve it whatsoever.
Wallace Boden glanced back at you, pulling his hands into the air. "Don't ask me officer."
You shook your head with a sigh, clutching the ends of your vest tighter with your hands if that was even possible. Your eyes came together as you squinted them to look past the sun, wanting now more than ever to have a pair of sunglasses on your face. Your partner, Jay Halstead, was leaning against a black SUV, arms crossed over his chest and a pair of sunglasses on his handsome face. He watched the scene unfold before him and unlike you, the sun didn’t seem to faze him.
The street has been closed off, as expected in a case like this one. The unit had come heavily prepared 10 minutes ago, only to find the suspect hanging from a broken window being held up by nothing but his own pants. But he did look surprisingly peaceful as the Captain of truck 81 carried him down to the ground.
Creating order was your job and so you stepped outside the human shield of officers to help the Captain. "I'm here to take him off your shoulders, Cap."
Matt visibly smiled, chucking the man in front of him to take off his ropes. "By all means detective."
The next few seconds passed in a blur, barely even giving you time to assess the situation properly. Somehow somewhere, a gun was pulled out in the man's quick haste to escape. Pointing it to the unarmed Captain was his shot out of there.
Or so he thought.
It wasn't that you were thinking, more so that the amount of experience you had was what kicked in and brought you to action. The speed with which you had jumped in with to disarm the man only came from familiarity, and not from the rank. You grabbed the slide of the gun, clutching it tightly and obstructing the slide from cycling into a shot. The peacefulness he had carried with him was now long gone as he started to trash around, attempting to remove your grip and have full control of the gun again.
You didn't have it and instead pulled your elbow into his face until you heard, rather than felt, a sickening snap of bones. Your leg flew in right after, sending him hurling to the ground.
With the gun now in your possession, you allowed yourself to breathe. Tossing the gun from one hand to another like it was a toy, you turned to the stunned Captain. With a swift move of your hand, the magazine flew out and the gun was officially rendered useless.
"You aright, Cap?" You asked with a smirk, glancing at his chest that was raising and falling rapidly as puffs of air escaped his lugs.
Matt gave you a thumbs up, letting out the last panicked breath. "I don't know how you guys deal with this every day. You-"
"I have experience. But it was still a risky thing for me to do, I apologize."
Matt's eyes widened, "No, no it's alright. You definitely looked like you knew what you were doing."
You smiled, flattered in a way. "The military does that to you."
By now, the man was swarmed with detectives, and you didn't feel the need to interject, instead choosing the moment to walk the Captain to his truck. "You were in the military?"
"Mhmm," you mused, “That's where I learned how to do that."
You didn't even really know what name to call your little stunt. "Although I'm not anymore…in the military. Obviously. I mean, I -"
A heavy silence settled over you when you finally decided to stop rambling, thicker than the one surrounding the mass of police.
You felt incredibly awkward at that moment. Never knowing how to start a conversation with men, especially ones as handsome as Matt wasn't fairly uncommon for you. You scratched the back of your neck awkwardly, showing him just how real you were without even knowing it.
People whistled when they saw what you did, expected you to be bold and confident because of it.
You weren't.
It intrigued him, and so he smiled, showing you his gleaming teeth. "Well, I think what you did back there was mind-blowing."
"Really? You really think so?"
Somehow getting a compliment from him was more than enough. Not even Voight's words will fill you up with pride like Matt's did just now. For whatever reason unfamiliar to you.
"I guess I owe you now," said Matt suddenly. Just as you were about to shake your head dismissively did, he stopped in his tracks, making you do the same too. "How about I return the favor with a drink?"
You pretended to think about it for a second, your toes curling in your combat boots as you did so, "Yeah sure. I'd like that."
The two of you exchanged details, scheduling your meet to be the following Saturday at Molly's.
You joined your unit with a skip in your steps and heart that was threatening to jump out. "What's with the smile?"
It was Jay who sneakily joined you by the car, looking at you with a knowing gaze in his blue eyes. The sunglasses hung on his dark red shirt, now forgotten due to the shade from the building. "I have a date!"
"With whom?" He asked, eyes just a bit wider than usual.
"Captain Casey."
Jay wiggled his eyebrows at, whistling proudly and bringing out his fist for you. You placed your own fist against his victoriously. "Atta girl."
"I know right?" You agreed dreamily, "All because I risked my life to get that gun away from him."
"I don't wanna be that person," Kevin Atwater came up to you with a frown, "But I think being ex-military has something to with all this."
"What do you mean?" You asked him.
"Oh, you know what I mean."
Kevin turned on his heels and stalked away after that, leaving you dazed and confused. "I seriously don't. What's he on about?"
Jay chuckled, slapping your shoulder teasingly. "Atwater thinks being ex-military helps you get noticed."
"Does it?"
"I don't know. You tell me."
Realization shook you a little to late. Jay had already walked away by the time it happened, although his broad shoulders were still very much visibly to you. You glared at them and exclaimed after him, "There was chemistry before I did anything! I felt it!"
You did feel it, and so did the captain.

Strong - Mariam x fem reader
Tumblr media
summary: (f/n) brushes all attempts of Mariam and Dina to befriend her off. But there's a bigger reason behind her cold, apathetic behavior.
warnings: (past) bullying
word count: 1.229
Author's note: Feel free to check out my Masterlists and make requests. No reposting please! Reblogging, comments and requests are always appreciated <3 If you like the story/my writing, please don't be shy to say it via comments or asks! It takes you a few seconds and might make my day. It's the best appreciation you can show to a writer you like.
----------
„Hey, (f/n). Do you want to join our group?“, Dina offered as she was sitting in front of me.
Miss Abeer had just announced our next group project and I dreaded it already.
My gaze wandered through the classroom. Everyone else had decided for a group. So I did not really have any choice but to join Dina and Mariam. Why them out of all people?
“I guess it can't be helped”, I agreed with a sigh.
“You know you could at least pretend to be happy about working with us”, Mariam considered while placing her chair next to my table.
I scoffed and concentrated on the task instead, ignoring the irritated looks of the two girls.
“How about each one of us works on two pages and then we explain it to each other”, Dina suggested.
“I take the first two pages”, I mumbled.
“Okay”, Dina agreed happily. How could anyone be in such a great mood all the time?
After explaining everything to each other we started to work on the poster.
I pushed it toward Mariam.
“I want to write”, Dina declared.
“No way in hell”, I shot back.
“Why not?”, she protested.
“Because you'll decorate it with drawings and use pink and glitter or whatever”, I claimed. “Mariam. It's your turn”, I decided.
“What if I don't want to”, said person alluded.
“Stop that shit”, I growled.
Mariam sighed and fulfilled the task anyway.
Unfortunately we did not manage to finish the poster during the lesson. So we would have to work on it in our leisure time. Group projects were definitely the worst. Now we were supposed to meet up without really having a choice.
“Do you have time today? We can meet up at my place”, Mariam assumed.
“You can finish it without me. My information is already on the poster anyway”, I pointed out.
“But it's a group project. It's not fair if we have to work more on it than you”, she considered.
“So what? Are you gonna sell me out if I don't show up at your house? I'm not exactly rejoiced to work with you and I bet you aren't either by now. So if you don't mind just fuck off”, I proclaimed.
“Whatever. Then do what you want. You're right. We won't sell you out”, Mariam concluded, her voice sharp and dripping with disgust.
After the group project Mariam and Dina did not try to approach me again. I did not know whether I should feel relieved or sad. But what I did know was that it was my fault for pushing them away. Had it been the right decision?
I observed them getting bullied by Layan and co. without interfering.
How could Mariam still stand up for herself? She was incredibly strong. Mariam and Dina were apparently able to be happy despite other people's opinions and actions. I wished I could do the same, but it was not that easy.
Breaks at the corner of school grounds, unanswered questions in class, alone all the time. I could not risk to draw any attention to me. Whenever someone approached me I scared them away.
When I saw that Mariam had been severely injured I was shocked.
Of course she had always been bullied by Layan and her friends, but it had usually been emotional and not physical bullying.
And when Layan lied at the assembly to settle the truth of what had happened to Mariam I could not retreat anymore. Layan had gone too far and I could not just take that silently.
“Miss Faten. Layan is lying”, I proclaimed drawing all the attention toward me.
The look of my mom was torn between anxious and proud. I could not blame her. I did not want to be in my position either, but I could not let Layan manipulate everybody and lead the amazingly strong Mariam into misery.
“Mariam never touched Layan. Actually Layan's the one tormenting Mariam and manipulating and scaring the other students all the time. Mariam is the victim. Don't let Layan fool you”, I declared.
My appearance did not falter. I was wearing a poker face and on the outside no one could tell how much Layan's stares actually scared me, or the oppressing silence that had captured the room.
The discussion about the truth continued for a short while and in the end Miss Faten decided to give both girls an equal amount of suspension. Obviously Layan's dad was even more powerful than I had thought. Great …
“Hey (f/n)! Wait!” Mariam's voice made me stop in my track as my mom and I had been on the way to our car.
Our moms were considerate enough to give us some privacy.
“What?” My voice was apathetic.
It was either all or no emotions. I definitely preferred the latter.
“Thanks for standing up for me. Honestly I didn't expect that”, she stated with a smile.
“I just told the truth. It's no big deal”, I brushed it off.
“Yes, it is. Obviously I judged you too quickly. Maybe you wanna hang out once after all?”, she suggested.
When our eyes met my mask fell. I could not keep up my act anymore and the tears started flowing.
“Oh sorry! Did I say something wrong?”, Mariam worried.
I immediately wiped the tears away with my sleeve and shook my head. “Just forget it”, I mumbled.
“Sorry, but what's up with you? That you supported me is a big deal. Then you start crying and now you pretend to be the mean one again?!”
“It's nothing personal, Mariam”, I attempted to reassure her, but my plan backfired.
“What is it then if it's not personal?”, she questioned.
“I just know how it feels, okay?” I averted my eyes.
“What do you mean?”, she continued her little interrogation.
A sigh of frustration left my lips. “I've been bullied myself. That's why I switched schools and why I tried to stay alone and don't arise any unwanted attention”, I explained. “I especially can't stand you. Seeing you defending yourself against Layan reminds me how weak I actually am”, I ranted.
“I don't think that you're weak”, Mariam proposed. “Layan's going to target you now. You know that, don't you?”
I shrugged my shoulders. “Whatever.”
“But you could have two amazing allies if you want to”, Mariam offered grinning slightly.
Doubts started filling me. Would this really work out? I did want to spend time with Mariam. She truly was stunning in many ways, but was it alright to grand myself that?
“I don't know what happened at your old school. But at least you wouldn't have to fight on your own anymore”, Mariam suggested.
“Fine then”, I agreed reluctantly.
She took a piece of paper and a pen out of her backpack, wrote something onto it and handed it over. “Just call or text me”, she assumed.
She sent another smile my way while approaching her mom who was talking to mine. “And thanks again”, she called out before leaving together with her mom.
I could not help the smile that was adorning my face. Maybe school was not that bad after all.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The best way to keep whatever problems one has out of their mind was to do something they liked. That was the only way Cassian kept from spiraling. Since sending the woman to her own house, Cassian had more than a few moments when he wanted to repeatedly slam his head against a wall. That’s why he spent most of his time sparring with Azriel. He won’t admit he was simping for that woman in his free time too. Or maybe that was always.
Now, sprawled on a couch in front of the TV, with nothing to do but stare at a blank screen, Cassian led his thoughts to the box he kept all unwanted thoughts locked in. He thought about Tomas, her ex-boyfriend. Funny, he thought. I know her ex's name but not hers.
It took him a little too long the other day to realise they didn't exchange names. Again. He once thought that maybe she was purposely not giving him her name. That maybe, for her, he was just a random stranger who happened to save her life. He snorted. Surely anyone would know the name of the person they saved or was saved by— stranger or not. He supposed he'll have to make do with pronouns for now.
After she left his home, it took every scrap of self-restraint not to beat this Tomas dude to pulp and let him rot in the same alley he had the misfortune of meeting him in. He may or may not have been the cause for some extra injuries. Cassian appreciated the woman’s attempt at mercy. He, however, didn’t trust Tomas at all. He was dubious about just handing him over to the police. Who’s to know he won’t frame him and the woman for absurd things? Anyway, he left a note in Tomas’s house saying something like “Step out of line, lose your favourite part of anatomy. Name it and have it for your meal.” He made sure he printed so that no one would recognise his writing. Yet, all this didn’t calm his nerves one bit. He presumed he’ll have to stay on guard for some time now.
Now, back to the girl. He sighed. He didn’t dare change the sheets in his guest bedroom. He didn’t even let Mor use the room when she came over last weekend— which he could bet created suspicion. No, that room was only open when he craved her scent. He even realised one of his shirts was missing. He shrugged it off thinking he would've left it somewhere and just couldn't find it. Once she came to his house, he was constantly thinking about her. So much that now he started pinching himself often. It was the only way he could stop thinking about her— by creating physical pain.
Cassian glanced at the clock on the wall. 2.30 in the afternoon. He walked to the refrigerator and checked his freezer compartment. Huh. No ice-cream. He sighed, grabbed his jacket and keys and headed to the mall to get an ice-cream with a pout. He’ll have to leave for Rhys and Feyre’s first anniversary only around 5.30 to prepare everything. He has enough time to get an ice-cream and probably hang out for some time. Good enough to stop thinking about her. Or so he thought.
***
Nesta wasn’t sore anymore. Her headache was gone almost a week after the incident. Her nose didn’t hurt anymore. Okay, maybe a little bit. It didn’t hurt unless she bumped her nose against something. Today, her nose was dully throbbing because she hit her nose against a pillow yesterday. A very, very soft pillow and yet it hurt this much.
The man’s first-aid and medicines were really helpful.
It really wasn’t fair that he excelled at basic first aid too. It wasn’t fair that he looked so good. With black tattoos swirling over generously muscled arms and shoulder-length dark hair curling at the edges and gloriously tanned skin and hazel eyes with minute flecks of green and brown when taken a closer look at and dimples and—
A quiet “Who is it?” snapped Nesta out of her moping. She looked up to see Gwyn walking to her.
“Who is what?” she asked, feigning nonchalance. Gwyn's pursed lips and glare conveyed that her act wasn't enough.
“Who are you thinking about?” Gwyn clarified.
“What makes you think I'm thinking about someone?” Nesta retorted.
Gwyn sat on the chair next to her and started assisting with classifying the unceremonious heap of books on the table to be kept back in its correct positions on its own rack.
“Nesta,” Gwyn sighed, “Clotho assigned you this stack almost an hour ago. And you've barely finished a third of the stack. Normally, you'd finish stacks bigger than this in an hour. So there's clearly something.”
“It wasn't anyone,” Nesta mumbled.
As usual, Gwyn saw through her lie. “You were twirling your hair,” she said flatly.
Heat inched up her neck. “I was not!”
Gwyn murmured a “uh-huh” and they lapsed into an easy silence till they were almost over.
Gwyn's eyes lit up as it normally did whenever she got an idea. “Is it him? The guy you came with that day?”
Nesta scowled, “How do you know…” she broke off when she realised which 'that day' Gwyn was talking about. Nesta fought back a blush. “No, no, this isn't about him. We don't know each other. Much. Like, we've seen each other a number of times? That's it. Nothing else.” Cauldron, the first part was a complete lie. But at least the rest are true. Will Gwyn happen to know his name? Maybe I ought to ask her. Or maybe I shouldn't.
She should, she decided. She cleared her throat. “Uh, Gwyn? Do you happen to know his name?”
Gwyn frowned and asked, “He hasn't told you yet?”
Nesta shook her head and answered, “No, we, uh, forgot. I guess. We haven't really exchanged names.”
Gwyn nodded and smiled. “Well, he is—”
“Gwyn!” a voice called. “You can't expect me to come over to you and beg for you to help me. Help me only if you want to or don't work under me.”
Gwyn’s eyes widened. She abruptly stood up and mouthed, “Merrill. I gotta go. I’m so sorry.” She all but ran to Merrill, the very strict librarian Gwyn was working under.
Nesta sighed and continued her work. There wasn’t much left so she was able to finish fast. She picked her things and left the library with a word to Clotho, heading to the mall.
***
The best way to keep whatever problems one has out of their mind was to also eat something they liked. So, ice-cream it was. After having his ice-cream, Cassian was aimlessly walking around the mall. Here, not more than a month ago, he met her for the first time. Almost a month ago. He huffed out a breath. The fact that he was pining for her this long blew his mind off. He—
“This is your fault— not mine. I’m not taking the blame for this,” he told her. They bumped into each other. Again.
Her lips quirked up. “It is kind of my fault. But blame this—,” she poked his chest, “— for making my nose hurt again.”
Just like that, his mood sobered. “How are you?” he asked.
She pointed at the cafe to her left. “Coffee?”
He nodded. Who was he to say no to her?
So they ordered coffee and talked about everything and nothing. He grinned and she laughed. He laughed and she smirked. He wouldn’t say he knew her well but he’d never seen her so carefree. Her laugh was like nectar for a starving man. Her eyes bright and welling up with tears from laughing.
“I don’t think I’ve laughed this much,” she said.
Cassian put a hand on his heart dramatically and said, “I know, I know. I’m very funny.”
Her lips kicked up a notch. She straightened as if she just realised something. He was about to ask when she drawled, “So I just realised that we still haven’t exchanged names.”
Oh. Right. Of course. “Yeah,” he nodded. “Usually, when people meet, they start with introductions but in our case we’ve literally bumped into each other three times and still we don’t know each other.” He shook his head and extended his hand. “Well, hello there. I’m—”
His phone rang in his pocket. Fuck. He was going to kill whoever was calling him now. He was so close to knowing her name. He pulled out his phone to see an incoming call from Azriel. He apologetically looked up at her and said, “I’m sorry. I wish I could choose not to take this call and instead kill this idiot but I can’t. Just give me a moment, okay?”
She nodded and he picked up his call.
“What do you want?” he hissed.
“It’s 5.30 already, you idiot. We’ve got to get the things ready for the party. Mor already went to get the cake and you’re not even at home. Where on all earth and hell are you?” came Az’s faint voice.
“15 minutes only? Mother above, I’m coming.” he said.
Az’s “make it fast” was the last thing he heard before hanging up. “I wish we could stay here and talk forever,” he said to her, “but I have something up in a short while and I totally didn’t realise time was passing this fast. I’m so sorry. It was nice talking to you. Really. And I wish we could meet again. Though without the bumping part.”
He grinned when she smiled and said, “Bye. Have a nice day.”
“You too,” he called back. He didn’t want to think he imagined the subtle look of disappointment on her face because hell, he was a walking epitome of disappointment right now.
“Is this about me leaving Rhino on Midtown’s front porch?” Vernon demanded. “Because if it is, I’ll have you know that I left him in good hands—”
 "Calm down, Wonder Kid," Fury said. He didn't look amused like Vernon had hoped, which meant that whatever he'd come here to talk about was serious. Well, what else should he have expected from the head of S.H.I.E.L.D.? "It's not about that. Well—not entirely. It's about the good hands you mentioned."
Vernon narrowed his eyes. He'd met Fury a few times before, and never during favorable conditions. The last time he's seen the guy, Spider-Man had almost been pummeled to death by none other than the Goblin himself. "They said something about bringing him to S.H.I.E.L.D.," he muttered. "I should have guessed."
Fury didn't respond, instead reaching inside his jacket to bring out an envelope. He threw the open envelope onto the table in front of Vernon, making a few pictures half spill out from inside. "You know what that is?"
Vernon glanced at him suspiciously before slowly picking up the pictures and going through them. Each of them was a glossy shot of various locations in New York, and all of them had a major recurring theme—the places were completely trashed. Overturned cars, building walls with holes in them, bent lampposts. Wearily, he set the pictures down face-up on the table, then looked up at the man, who stared back with an unreadable expression on his face.
A beat passed. "Was that a rhetorical question?"
"Jesus, kid," Fury muttered. "All of those pictures were taken moments after a fight between you and one of your fanclub members. Now, I'm not saying I don't appreciate you taking care of a couple of minor criminals in the city—"
"Minor criminals?"
"—but I can't let you treat the place like it's your neighborhood playpen," he finished. Next to him, the pretty agent-slash-counselor sat with her legs folded, her surprisingly stern gaze fixed on Vernon. The attention made him squirm. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is a global defense organization, for god's sake. We don't have the time to clean up after kids who don't know even know their three Rs."
"Let me guess," Vernon said, "rock, roll, ramble?"
"Even your wisecracks aren't funny anymore, kid." Fury shook his head.
Ouch. "That hurt my feelings."
The man glared at him out of his one good eye. "You can't keep going like this forever," he said. "You're on your way to be one of the greats—don't look at me like that, hell if I'm gonna repeat that—but the big guys take care of their messes. They don't leave poor innocent civilians behind to get new paint jobs on their Kias. All that damage your careless fighting left behind, who's gonna take care of that?"
"Insurance?" Vernon suggested. Agent Fox cracked a smile, warming his insides. Her sitting aside in silence as Fury chewed him out was a little unnerving. He wondered if looking on silently while high-rankers lectured kids was something she had to do regularly. You gotta have a heart of ice to sit through that.
"You are," Fury said grimly, and Vernon blinked. "And you're gonna start today."
"What was it that you really wanted?" Vernon asked, crossing his arms over his chest, making his t-shirt stretch tight over his biceps. He really needed to go shopping. "You can't tell me the world's best spy came all the way to some backwater high school just to lecture a kid about cleanliness being next to godliness."
"You're a special case, Parker," Fury said, and Vernon placed a hand over his heart, mockingly going aw. "And you're right. I'm not here just to lecture you about your repeated careless mistakes, I'm here to help you fix them."
Vernon looked at him suspiciously, already wary of what was to come next. "And how do you propose I do that?"
"You've already shown me multiple times you can't do it yourself," Fury said. "Look, kid, here's the thing: you have a problem, and I have a problem. I also happen to have a joint solution to both."
Vernon slumped in his chair. Here it comes. "What problem could you possibly have? Nuclear warheads threatening to destroy civilians' Kias in Manhattan?"
"You really gotta work on those one-liners." Fury sighed. "There's a group of kids in the Helicarrier like you—up-and-coming superheroes in need of some real-world experience. They've got the training you need to handle jobs with efficiency, and you have the practical experience. They've got the goods—just like you—but nowhere real to practice them."
"You mean those guys," Vernon said, sitting up and recalling the three who had helped him in the fight against Rhino. "You mean—you want me to teach them?"
"I want you to work with them," Fury said. "Train with them, fight with them, lead what could be the next greatest team of post-humans."
"So basically, your solution is to sic a bunch of newbies on me as some kind of damage control," Vernon said angrily. "And what if I refuse?"
"Nothing," the spy answered simply. "You're not under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s official jurisdiction yet, so I can't do anything to you even if I want to—unless, of course, I absolutely have to. You're allowed to walk out of here right now, but I can't guarantee that that's gonna work out for you."
Vernon considered this. He knew a threat when he heard one, even when it wasn't a yell of SPIDER-MAN, I'M GONNA KILL YOU, but he also knew that Nick Fury's threats weren't always real threats. However, he did not like his chances.
"As long as they stay out of my business," he muttered, knowing that was the one thing they were least likely to do. He knew how closely teams operated, and it didn't take his spider sense to figure out that this team was going to be much nosier than that. He recalled the annoyed scowl on that Nova guy's face, and internally shuddered.
"It's a deal," Fury said pleasantly, as if Vernon had any choice but to accept the so-called 'deal'. "I'll be checking in regularly, so bear in mind that I'll know if you ever kill one of your teammates and throw their body into the East River."
"I would never go to that much trouble," he replied equally pleasantly, getting up. Then he glanced at the clock, and scowled. "I can't believe you made me skip my biology quiz for five minutes of parental guidance."
"Oh, I'd never lie to a teacher, kid," Fury said, patting his shoulder as he passed him. "A counseling session I promised, and a counseling session you will get."
Vernon glanced at the other agent in dismay, but she only smiled—whether in amusement or reassurance, he couldn't tell. She clicked her pen, picking up the pad, her eyes twinkling. "Settle down, Spider-Man," she said. "This will only take forty minutes."
Tumblr media
Vernon almost considered opting out of eating in the cafeteria, but changed his mind at the last moment, knowing it was the only time other than first period biology he got to see Joshua on Mondays. He desperately needed to vent, and his bespectacled friend was the only one who even came close to understanding to the layers of his identity, one of which was a deep-rooted hatred for the universal authority on superheroes.
So he stalked right into lunch, barely noticing the gunk of whatever-it-was thwacking into his plastic tray, and headed for their usual table in the corner of the cafeteria. He didn't need to go that far to get to Joshua, however, as the blue-haired boy almost walked smack into him as he made his way there.
"Woah, woah, steady," Joshua said, grabbing his bicep to prevent them from colliding. "Why are you making like a steamroller towards that innocent little table? And what the hell were you during biology? What was that about?"
Vernon cast a careful glance around the cafeteria, at the crowd of people, one of which could easily overhear them in the close range. "I'll give you the details later," he murmured. "The cusp of the matter is: Fury blackmailed me into signing up for a team activity."
"Wait, wait, wait, Nick Fury?" Joshua asked in awe as they walked over to the table, gripping his tray tightly and hunching his shoulders, leaning slightly towards Vernon in interest. "You mean he was here, in this school?"
"Not even the first time, Josh."
"Not the—" Joshua shook his head, as if shooing away the thoughts. "Okay. Filing that information away for further perusal later. So you're telling me Nick Fury, super-spy, came to this place—" he spread his arms, indicating the school— "to talk to you. Man, sometimes I forget Spider-Man's supposed to be a household name."
"Shut up," Vernon hissed, casting a furtive glance at a heavily tattooed blonde who passed them by closely. "But yeah. And he asked me to team up with these noobs from the S.H.I.E.L.D. future program or something."
Joshua frowned. "But that's kind of cool, though, right?"
"Not if they're gonna slow me down," he replied. "Spider-Man's always operated alone, and—wait, what the hell?"
He stopped in his tracks right before the table, a stunned expression on his face. Joshua raised his eyebrows, following his gaze to the table, which was, surprisingly enough, already occupied.
She was there, of course, at her usual seat, the third from the left, except she was not alone. There was another girl, with dark hair and piercing eyes, picking at a soggy fry with her lips pursed. Next to her was a brooding blond with freckles that stood out against his shockingly pale skin. Last, but not the least, was the boy with the tanned skin who was making Vernon's best friend laugh so hard she was doubled over, a familiar cocky edge to his smile.
"Ah," Joshua said.
Lucy Langdon was one of Vernon's, and therefore Spider-Man's, biggest pressure points. She was also one of the only ones who had been left virtually untouched by all his superhero shenanigans, and he wanted to keep it that way. Though she was smart enough keep up with a few new trainees, as far as Vernon was concerned, she was strictly off-limits. Even to superheroes who could fly and called themselves Nova.
Vernon stalked over to the table and slammed his tray on the surface so hard he made everyone jump. Then he glared at the boy sitting next to her, the one with the bronzed skin, as Joshua stood by awkwardly. "You're in my seat," he said pointedly.
The boy cocked a lazy eyebrow, gesturing to the unoccupied seats opposite him. "I don't see your name on it."
Vernon ground his teeth, raising his hand (no doubt to petulantly slam it down on the table next to his tray) but Joshua grabbed his wrist, giving him a meaningful look. "Don't start anything that can be easily avoided," he muttered to the boy, and Vernon relented, albeit grudgingly.
"You're late," Lucy said conversationally, though your voice was higher than usual, probably because of the sudden tension that had descended upon the table. Vernon sat down slowly, still glaring at the boy, and she glanced at Joshua, who only shrugged. "These are, uhm, they're new."
"I figured," Vernon muttered.
"Three in one day? And this late into the year?" Joshua wondered aloud, raising his eyebrows. "Now I'm curious."
"Nothing worth your curiosity, I'm afraid," the new girl replied. Her eyes, when they swept over Vernon, were watchful and aware. "Just a coincidence. I was supposed to join earlier but there was a family emergency. As for these two, I can only guess." Her smile was small but sharp. "I'm Yeji."
"Felix," said the blond. He looked gloomy, but maybe it was just because of the unhealthy-looking pallor of his skin.
"And I'm Yangyang," the last boy said, with an impish grin that rubbed Vernon the wrong way. He already knew who these three were supposed to be—actually, everyone was supposed to know Felix, since Iceman was already a pretty famous member of the X-Men. Surely dyed hair couldn't be the only change needed to disguise that face? "Me and Felix are cousins, actually."
"Felix and I," Vernon mumbled under his breath, and Lucy gave him a look which he ignored. "Since when did you start taking people in for charity?"
She raised her eyebrows. "Be nice," she said. "They were in my Home Economics class, and if it hadn't been for Yeji here, I might have blown up the marble cake I was supposed to be making."
Joshua frowned. "How?"
"A story for another day." She smiled an unreadable smile, dark eyes sparkling. "Now—"
"No," Vernon said.
She glanced at him. "Excuse me?"
"No," he repeated. Then, as jerkily as he had sat down, he got up, and jabbed a finger at the new arrivals in turn, before pointing over his shoulder. "You three," he said venomously, "to the corridor. Now."
Tumblr media
"Aw, man, I can't believe you're being so sensitive about this," Yangyang—Nova—complained loudly, though there was a shit-eating grin on his face as he followed Vernon into the hallway. "So Fury transferred us into your school without checking with you first. Big deal. What are you supposed to be, the queen of England?"
Vernon gave him a spiteful look, but otherwise ignored his remark. Instead, he focused on Yeji, who was watching him patiently, because she looked like the most sensible member of the group. He stared at her for a long moment, struggling to find the words that would convey the exact measure of his indignance. "Why?" he asked finally, giving up.
She shrugged helplessly. "Look, we didn't ask for this, either," she answered. "We're under orders, so it's not like we can just up and leave. Huddling in the hallway isn't a smart decision, either—we already have all eyes on us because of being the three new kids who randomly joined on the same day, and this is only making us look even more suspicious."
Vernon glared at her, trying to think of a good argument, then gave up. He turned on Felix, who was standing off to the side with folded arms, still looking uninterested in the conversation. "You," he said, narrowing his eyes, "you're Iceman."
Felix looked at him neutrally. "Yes."
"You're not under S.H.I.E.L.D.," Vernon said, pointing an accusatory finger. "And you have enough real-world experience, so there's no reason for you to be here instead of with the X-Men—"
"Dude," Felix said frostily; no pun intended. "Drop it."
Yeji nodded, giving Vernon a meaningful look he could not decipher.
"Aw, come on, web-head," Yangyang interjected. "We saved your life and you didn't even thank us, but I'll let that go since your manners aren't exactly polished. But this is just boring."
"It is not," Vernon seethed. "I'll talk to Fury—"
Yangyang snorted. "Good luck with that."
"—or the principal—"
"The new principal," Yeji muttered. "Agent Coulson."
Vernon made an exasperated noise. "The only reason I even agreed to Fury's stupid offer was because I thought it would get him off my case!" he yelled. "School is the only part of my life that's separate from all the wacky crap I have to deal with otherwise, and now even that—" He clenched his teeth. "If I'd known it meant having you people barge into my life like this—"
"Then you couldn't have done anything about it, even knowing," Yeji said, gently cutting him off. "Face it, hero. You're stuck with us as much as we're stuck with you—whether any of us like it or not."
whumpbby 😭 commiserate with meeee. Idk if you've seen this post that's kind of blowing up about how fandoms are racist in general because they always focus on white characters and ships over the POC ones and to be real, it's not that I disagree. I do agree, very much so, though I think the issue is way more nuanced. But I figure hey it's still a relevant post and I go to reblog and then I realise it's written by a goddamn anti 😭😭😭 now I have hIVES gdi the op is in the notes screeching at people for being kylo ren fans and telling them to die and I'm just So Over This, we can't have anything nice
The worst part is that this post got onto my dash from the blog writingwithcolour who gives really good and multi-cultural advice on writing POC and while I see why they'd reblog it, my automatic EWW UGH reaction to finding an anti's post unfiltered on my dash is now putting serious sus on that blog :((( I'm just here to whine at you dats all but yeah antis are ruining so many good things about Fandom I can't even feel good about a relevant post anymore
*commiserating*
I feel ya, the fandom that is supposed to be the place of fun and unwinding being overridden with self-congratulory bullshit is a pet peeve of mine too.
It is hard to find a balance between ‘ yeah, these issues exist’ and a ‘no, I am not here for that’ and not end up on this or that pitchfork, because we seem to be living in the time and social sphere where daring not to be concerned about the current issue of the week for even one second of the day marks one as a degenerate/racist/sexist/take your pick. It’s the wart marking the witch. And you are expected to prove your creed constantly, to preform to someone’s satisfaction until they deem to absolve you.
If she floats, she’s a witch. If she drowns, she’s not, but well, the point is moot.
It’s tiring, god, it’s exhausting - when already so many things are exhausting in the real life we have outside of these fandom spaces. And it gets doubly exhausting once you realise that - it doesn’t matter. None of it matters. No graph showing how many poc characters are NOT being shipped, no list of authors who ship ‘problematic’ ships, not one anon message trying to shame someone into not doing something - NONE OF IT MATTERS.
NONE. Not one grain of good has come out of it.
People see a problem and get invested and sometimes the problem is real and needs solution - and very often we are so small and have no resources and we can’t help in any realistic way. So, brain comes up with ways of helping us feel less shitty about out own helplessness and we invest ourselves so deeply into them, because what else can we do? That post, that blog, that call to arms, that callout, that anon message - we are doping something! We are helping!
We are doing something, right? Right???
It’s so hard to admit that not one child was saved by the witch hunt on Ao3, not one minor was saved form grooming by attacking fanfic writers on whatever platform, not one person was saved form abuse by attacking trans people, not one person was helped by the war on the “Q-word”, not one goddamn soul was helped by the anti-bullshit. All it results in is misery and pain and harassment, but hey, at least someone is reacting! - and, hey, these are ‘effects’, right? And we’re after ‘effects’ because at least we are doing something if it has effects, right??
These movements, these tactics, these people - they are nothing else than kids stomping their feet in their respective kiddy pools and thinking the waves they create change the currents of the real ocean. They imagine they are stopping a tsunami hitting some foreign land when all they do is splash on the people who just want to wet their feet in the same pool.
Listen. A story.
In my town there's this guy who will randomly appear in the market square and shout about God and Salvation and how everyone sucks. This recent Christmas he positioned himself right opposite of the charity orchestra and was a nuisance to anyone who wanted to stop for a moment and listen to them playing Christmas carols - to have in this depressing and cold, and busy end of a crap year we have all survived, a moment of respite, of Christmas cheer, a crumb of relief. Usually the orchestra is surrounded by people and kids throwing coins into their box, by folk recording on their phones, etc. No, this this year no one could enjoy a moment of peace, because a nutcase behind tried to overshout the orchestra, so people kept walking, intimidated and annoyed.
Out of frustration and, I admit, curiosity, I walked up to him and asked why won’t he move over to let the orchestra play - what I got was more shouting. Because listening to Christmas carols was hypocritical without the sprinkling of despair over the state of humanity and Our Sins.
He wouldn’t engage, he wouldn't speak to me like a person - I was standing two feet form the guy and he was yelling at the top of his lungs so everyone heard him. I was raised Catholic in one of the most Catholic damn countries in Europe, I know what God is about. But, you see, it didn’t matter to the guy, what mattered was that he needed to be heard yelling. This was his attempt at converting people - by yelling in their faces. He was doing something and feeling better for it!
This  guy was the anti-movement in a real, compact, one-dude pill. Any anti-movement you can think of that picks a flag and then starts to screech in its shadow, because it makes them feel better about themselves.
As for Kylo...
The hilarious hate towards Kylo fucking Ren of all people? Towards people who ship him? All that misplaced anger at the crappy treatment of the poc actors by Disney and predominantly male ‘fans’ of Star Wars?? Let that sink in - white dudes with money made decisions, white dudes on the internet ganged up on an actress - but nah, dude, the women who write fanfic are the culprit!  We can’t gang up on Disney and we are too afraid of the dudes on Reddit and 4chan, but these girls writing Reylo porn are there and accessible and not scary and not male! We can take them on!
How is it not hilarious? How?? This level of misdirection and confusion, being so intimidated by the insurmountable task of being angry at a corporation that makes their merch (that they are still buying, because hey, a fan is a fan, who doesn’t want a baby Yoda t-shirt?) that all they can do is to spin around and bite the ankles of the person standing behind them? How is this not hilariously morally bankrupt and so pitifully, tragically human?
Let the block button become your shield, another good blog will come, don't regret blocking ones you are not sure about. You’re here to relax, you don’t deserve this kind of stress. They will keep screeching, but you keep walking, friend, the orchestra is still there playing your tune, enjoy it.
Summary: Leon and Y/N want to explore new things 😏
Warnings: daddy kink, spanking, choking, lap dance, filthy stuff ( whichever Leon you want)
Words: 1977
Author's note: it was pretty late when I wrote this so pls dont mind the typos 😪
Tumblr media
So, Leon and I wanted to explore new sexual experiences, but we were both afraid of what each other would decide.
Leon is my soon-to-be-husband and after all of this, our quote was: "Sex only after the marriage." But our sexual desires only grow. I'm always horny, I think I'm the horniest from this relationship. I laugh with all this thinking.
Leon had to go to work today to help Hunnigan. I was pretty sad because I was looking forward to spend the day with him. But well, duty calls.
While I'm watching TV - nothing important is showing at the moment - I think what I could do to make our desires better in bed, don't get me wrong, Leon is very good in bed, he has this dominant personality on bed but I wanted to do this for him, to cheer him up.
An idea passed through my mind, I guess all those times that I spent on my bed only reading fanfics was worth it.
I go to our room and dress myself: jeans, a black t-shirt, white jacket and sneakers.
Guess I'm going shopping.
When I arrive home, Leon is not there yet.
Thank God.
It's still 19p.m, he usually comes home at 20p.m, so I still have time. I put the shopping bags on my bed and then i jump into the shower.
I'm really hoping that Leon likes it, it would be totally awkward if he doesn't like it. Crap, now I'm nervous. That's not good.
"Okay, breath Y/N, breath." I prepare for the big night, I get out of the shower, I put my body cream and then I put this:
Tumblr media
I stop in front of the mirror, staring at myself.
"Y/N you're looking great." I smile to the mirror.
I hear keys clicking, so I quickly take my robe and wear it.
"Y/N babe, where are you?" Leon's voice is muffled by the room closed door - yeah, I closed the door before I got out of the shower, I knew he would show up -
We live in a apartment, with 2 bedrooms but we only use one of them, so I thought in finally using the other one for my plan.
"Wait for me, on the other room."
"Why? Did something happened?"
"No, nothing just wait me there." I hear footsteps far away, then I know he went to the other room.
I tie my hair into a bun, then I put the mine's and his favorite perfume and some make up, not too much, not too heavy, heels too.
What? A girl has to be prepared
Oh God, it's happening. I'm finally doing it. It's not my first time with Leon but I'm afraid of his reaction, will he love it, be awkward about it, hate it? I don't know but I have to give it a shot.
I even prepared a song for it: (whatever song you like)
I get out of the room, nervous. I bet Leon can hear my heels clicking on the floor.
"Y/N is that you?" He asks.
"Yeah, it's me."
Now I'm standing at the door, hesitating to take the knob. A few minutes I opened it.
On the room, there's only a chair and a music player, that I put it there, I guess Leon bite the bait, because he's sat on the chair.
Reminder: I'm still wearing a robe.
I walk towards him, all of my feelings mixed but not showing. Leon's expression it's just confusion.
Leon can smell my scent from awar.
"Is there any event you're going today?" Leon asks while I go behind the chair to play the song, I shrug.
I can feel him, getting up from the chair, faster than the light I turn around and mention to the chair.
"Sit." My dominant part has come. I give him a hard, serious look, that makes him oblige.
I then go back to play the song.
"What are you doing?" Poor Leon, doesn't know what's gonna happen. I want to tell him, but no, it's only about him today.
I take the black towel that was beside the music player and tie his hands, to keep him in place.
"Y/N what are you doing?"
I walk to be in front of him, and give him a smile, I see his face relaxing.
"Just trust me, do you?" He nods.
After that the song starts playing and I go to the bathroom to take off the rope.
The bathroom is beside the chair that Leon is on.
The song starts in a slow and sexy lyrics and I open the door, to start leaning on the doorframe, I start to hear every single word that the music is saying, while I swing my hips slowly for him to watch.
His eyes are shining with desire and his lips and cheeks are red. I like that feeling, of being wanted.
I arch myself on the doorframe, my ass rubbing on the wall.
I give him a devilish smirk.
I'm loving it and he's loving it.
I start to walk towards the chair, without losing the charm.
I start to swing my hips while playing with myself, my breasts, all of my body.
"Babe, please, let me touch you." He pleads, suprising me but I don't show.
I shake my finger as a 'no'. He throws his head back, in frustration.
"Eyes up here, big boy."
I saw him biting his lip and I do the same, that drives him crazy, every single time.
I can already see his bulge, and I'm already horny.
My pussy is on fire, and probably a pool already but I cant and won't stop.
I turn around, him only facing my behind. I sit on lap and start to tease him but grinding my ass on his dick.
He starts to make small growls. I'm rolling and grinding back and forth in slow movements.
"Baby girl." He growls in my ear. I put my head in the crook of his neck. The song is still going.
He's enjoying this as much as I am.
"Please, untie me babe. I can take care of you." He bucks his hips up in my ass.
Ugh, I want him to touch me so bad.
I face him now, I put my legs on each side of his legs and look at his full of lust and blue eyes.
"You like what you see... Sir?" I ask innocently, while he stares at me and gives a smirk.
"I do, actually. You look so hot in that." The music starts to go sexier and I don't know what to do anymore. This man is driving me crazy.
I start grinding myself on his bulge, that's getting bigger and harder by the time.
"Fuck, babe." Leon moans. I noticed that he's eating me with his eyes, enjoying every single part of my body, the way my breasts are so big, the way I grind my hips, everything.
I put my hands on his neck and attack his lips, biting and sucking his bottom lip. Then I start kissing his neck, giving it a hickey, Leon's breath starts to get louder.
I'm loving it.
I pull on his hair, and all I see it's lust on his eyes.
I put my fingers under his shirt and feel his hard muscles.
Leon is whimpering right now.
I stop grinding and go lower to take his cock. Leon throws his head backwards again. I give a smirk. I love doing that to him.
His cock is so soft and tasty. "You're so big, sir." I moan as I start to rub my hands up and down his cock.
"Don't stop, babe." I start to grind myself again to ease a little the aching on my cunt, while I work on his cock.
The song is already finished, you can just hear our moans and breaths.
I decided that it was teasing enough, but I know that when I untie his hands, he's gonna be the dominant one.
I stop working on his cock, and go to his lips, I give entrance to his tongue, while he's kissing me with full desire. I raise my hands behind him to untie him.
Without stopping to kiss him, I feel big hands on my waist and I let out a relived breath.
"You liked that right? Teasing me. I bet your cunt is begging to be fucked right now." I'm wet. His dirty talk always drive me crazy.
He takes me to our bedroom, put me on the bed. Next there it goes his shirt and pants. I stay there, at his mercy. He can do whatever he wants with me.
He hovers me.
"You know you look pretty sexy in that lingerie. But I bet is gonna be sexier when you're cumming on my cock." He gives a smirk, then he starts grinding his bulge to my cunt.
I start moaning, loud. I cant take it anymore.
"Sir, fuck me already, please. No teasing." He kisses my upper lip.
"You're right no more teasing." He finally takes off my lingerie and his boxers.
He sighs when he started to tug on his cock. God, that was a sight.
Next, he hovers me again. I can feel him putting his cock in my cunt, it feels amazing. He starts to play with my nipples. Biting and sucking.
His thrusts are deep but slow.
"Fuck, Leon. Always fucking me so good!" I moan, while he's kissing my neck.
"This cunt is so tight and good, baby. When you got out of the bathroom with that outfit, I just wanted to fuck the life out of you." He says on my ear.
He starts going faster, the bed is cracking and my moans are getting louder.
"You want to be my little whore, right baby? You want me to fuck you all day and night so you cant walk on the next day?"
"Fuck, daddy. You're so good. I love your cock in my cunt." I'm desperate now, I need more, I'm so horny.
"I need more, daddy, please." He grabs my waist and turn me around.
"Ass up." He spanks my ass, I moan louder.
"Yes, scream for them to hear who's fucking so good." He spanks again.
He plugs my ass. "Fuck, your ass is even tighter. Your little whore." He spanks harder, my ass is red already.
"Fuck, daddy. I love when you spank. Do it, I'm a bad girl." Ugh, I'm so dirty. He's started to fasten his pace, I can feel my stomach about to explode.
He puts my face into the mattress, pounding my cunt. "Kitten, likes that right? Yeah, I know she does."
"Harder, please." He trusts harder and pulls my hair making my back to meet his chest.
My pussy is on fire, it's pulsing so much.
"Are you close for daddy? Huh?" He starts to circle my clit and going faster in his pace, while he puts his other hand on my throat.
"Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!" I scream, ready to explode.
"Cum, my whore. Cum for daddy." He says with a last pull of my hair and thrusting in my ass and I let go on his cock. He didn't come yet, so he keeps thrusting into me, while I'm rolling my eyes, enjoying the moment.
"Fuck, Y/N!" He growls while he lets go inside of me.
I fall beside him, and he takes the covers. I start shaking and he envelops his arms around me.
"All of that for this amazing thing that happened." He laughs.
"Yeah I wanted to do something different." I say while playing with his fingers.
"I love you." I say looking at him.
"I love you lots." He kisses my lips gently
