thinking about how at comicexpo mackay told me that there were “deep cuts” coming in issue 24/25 and thinking about how they all played out… this man literally name dropped crawey and gena to me only to have them appear in once singular panel lmao

#ljs life #moon knight #moon knight comics #it’s also so fascinating bc so much of this run and this issue specifically is deconstructing what makes moon knight moon knight #one of the best parts of MK for me has always been the way that he has a team of ‘ordinary’ people who know who he is #and can help him #which makes the appearances of like - needa and samuels in Steven’s dream really interesting #bc they knew about moon knight right from the start & yet marc assumes that Steven’s dream is a life ‘without him’#and I don’t know that that’s particularly accurate lmao #anyway back on topic the way this issue examines like…the way that the system *needs* people around them #none of them were alone at all and Jake outright says that he just wants to help everyone #but also acknowledges the very real hurt that MK can cause to those people. the loss of them in his life #(whether through death or distance)#and the ‘the happiness I have is earned’ is SO GOOD bc it’s true!! throughout this run he has made huge strides to be happy and #to hold onto that happiness in a way that’s unlike anything he’s done before #he’s GROWING #(and yes ik that this is comics and characters are always a little stagnant/revert back to old patterns but for now!! real actual character #development!!)#he has people around him. he has happiness. he doesn’t need these dreams of the past or these echoes of desire #he has real people in his real life and that’s GOOD #I do think Marc’s interactions with Dylan last issue are contributing to why he was seeing Diatrice #and this whole examination makes me really especially curious about how Layla will play into things next issue #anyway I just have 50 million thoughts about this issue #maybe once the run is over I’ll actually make the video essay that has been halfway brewing in my mind for nearly a year
