i just…. still cannot believe that they had frank quote oscar wilde and wear purple and have a whole arc surrounding closeted gay men and expected me not to notice!!!
#frank castle#the punisher#the punisher s2#(like i understand that billy reading the picture of dorian gray was bc ben barnes plays him in the movie)#(and the themes of beauty + morality + social class that r within it)#(but they could have used stardust just as easily for love + loyalty and a fourth wall break for BB and charlie cox!)#(i just think it’s an interesting choice considering how these r not the only instances of queercoding but the biggest that come to mind)#(oscar wilde’s works are undeniably gay and frank chooses to quote him to billy who he calls pretty later on)#(and the purple shirt specifically with micro is another choice because of how their relationship is portrayed in the comics)#(and comics!frank has such gay behavior it makes u wonder if he ((not ncmu)) was in a lavender marriage)#(i really cannot understate the amount of queercoding and subtext surrounding frank and his clear attraction to men)#(there is very much a deliberate choice with the storylines frank has involving gay men and punisher 2004 did it too)#(and i understand why people assume homophobia based on his character at a quick glance but the source material is soooo gay)#(anyways rant over)#subtext#comics inspired#punisher 2017#punisher 2004
