Digimon Adventure 2020 Ep 13 Reaction
A strange blend of “things that feel wonderfully nostalgic” and “suddenly, Star Wars (with bees).”
Man, Toei is having a field day with taking inspiration from other franchises lately! One moment I’m grinning at the nostalgic “hey Koushiro, I’ll hit your tablet to make it work!” jokes and the traditional Digital World jungle setting. The next, I’m like...
Giant... bee... space... ship? Captured natives? Disposing of the heroes in the garbage compactor? I can’t decide if this is amazing and fun, or if I’m more in the “wait, wut” camp!
But first of all, THESE KIDS ARE GIVING ME HEART ATTACKS FLYING ON BIRDRAMON WITH A LOG SEAT. Like, of course someone fell! Good god, how are these children surviving this stuff? Are they made of steel?!
ANYWHO, we see more of Sora’s compassion in this ep. She insists on helping the (really freaking cute) Funbeemon, even after they’ve saved Jyou-
Speaking of Jyou for a sec- Jesus, kid. First, he’s air sick. Then, he falls from waaaaay up high. THEN, he gets captured... THEN! He’s thrown in the garbage compactor. THEN!!!! He doesn’t have the sense to move out from under the chute?!?!?! THEN HE CRIES TO GOMAMON (WHO IS! NOT THERE!!!!) FOR A HUG BECAUSE HE IS COLD! THEN HE DOESN’T MOVE WHEN SORA WARNS HIM TO AND ALMOST GETS CRUMBLED WITH A WALL. THEN GOMAMON SURFS IN ON A WAVE OF FISH, AND I AM DEAD, AND THEN THEY HUG AND I CRY, and I swear they gave the pair’s likability entirely to Gomamon, like Gomamon is overflowing with the goodness and lovability of at least three characters. AND THEN JYOU IS PANICKING BECAUSE THEY ARE SURROUNDED! AND THEN JYOU FALLS AGAIN, AND GOMAMON LANDS ON HIS TUM AND HE GOES OOOOF! AND THEN THEY BACK SORA UP AGAIN AS SHE TRIES TO HELP DIGIMON BECAUSE HE! IS! A GOOD DISASTER CHILD!
I’d say something like, “Are you okay, Jyou?” But we all know the answer. What a mess! Like, THIS ISN’T EVEN YOUR EPISODE, GET IT TOGETHER!
Ahem.
ANYWAY, this ep showcases Sora’s compassion a second time, and we have it direct from Sora that she is personally choosing to take up responsibility for not only saving earth, but the digimon, too. She’s doing it out of compassion, but... Kiddo, please be careful. That’s a lot on anyone’s shoulders. I wonder if we’ll see the fatigue that loving that much tends to cause in the reboot, like we did in Adventure? I’m definitely interested in how the series handles this as time goes on. Sora was so good in this ep, but I’m also hoping these are seeds to explore the downside of having such a huge heart and the willpower to carry through!
(Hopefully I don’t sound like I’m complaining! I thought this was a great episode for Sora, soooo much better than her intro episode. I’m just personally interested in this topic, and I always hope for more character exploration.)
And I found the mutual respect between Sora and Yamato so, so interesting. You know... We all know that Taichi and Yamato simultaneously respect each other and butt heads throughout all of the original Adventure material. Over time, we see that Yamato actually respects Taichi so damned much that he gets personally offended when Taichi is “faltering,” from Yamato’s perspective.
But Yamato has always treated Sora respectfully, and we are seeing that in this ep in such a huge way. He was able to foresee what Sora would want to do, based on the Neamon incident. This time, instead of fighting it... He offers his own plan (get captured on purpose to rescue Jyou and Gomamon) and follows her... slap-dash two step plan without question to rescue the remaining captives. And after he does his part, he just... Just waits for her to get her end done, knowing that the power balance is all off (adult vs perfect form). This indicates how much he respects Sora, but also how he’s stepped up since trying to go his own way a few times already in the Reboot.
And I’m just saying, if someone was going to inspire this level of trust in me, personally... Well, I’d go with Sora, too. Good choice, Yams.
(Yamato I think is the closest we have to a fully-fleshed character so far, with both good points, bad points, and a ton to respect about him despite everything. Although Gomamon is the only one who is somehow getting away with being a pure, flawless ball of perfection).
AND THE NEXT EP IS KOU-CHAN! HOW WILL I MAKE IT TO NEXT SUNDAY! I’M SO, SO READY! I wonder why Koushiro has “an older model tablet,” according to Mimi (who would certainly know!). Ugh, I loved Mimi leaning over to see Koushiro’s tablet, KOUSHIRO SO SO SMOL. And another note, Taichi and Agumon’s in-sync hive mind bit at the end? God, I love it.
It kind of makes me assume that there’s sentimental value to Koushiro’s tablet! Or maybe he’s so attached to it because he’s placing so much of his self worth in his abilities, which he can’t utilize without the tablet? Ie, without the tablet, I’m worthless... But then, in that case, it would make sense for him to use the latest tech! Hmm... Maybe he just can’t afford it? Or is there something else here...
WE SHALL SEE!!!!!

We got episode 3 “Into the Digital World”! And the good news is we are still Very Much at it with the Taishiro lol
This pic pretty much sums up the whole episode for me:
❤️!
Spoilers under the cut...
So let’s knock the most important thing off right away, at the end of the ep they DO go to a real digital world!
And it looks like a child’s fantasy... a beautiful natural world full of amazing creatures. I have no idea how similar it’s gonna be to the world we know, though! So far everything’s different, even things that seem the same. Keeps me guessing.
The landscape is pretty intriguing. Looks like a planet/moon on the horizon? And I’m sure that interesting island’s gotta mean something...
But back to the beginning.
So last week, I was all boggled because they introduced Omegamon and Jogress so early. It was easy to think that since they’d started this hype wave, they were gonna keep riding it out, especially with Hikari and Takeru seeming to receive magic feathers and all. Well, that’s not really how it goes down.
The battle is very quiet, with few words - none at all from Taichi or Yamato until Koushirou gets their attention. I am not 100% sure about this, but from the way Taichi looks to the side when an attack comes his way and Omegamon then takes it out, I think it might mean Taichi and Yamato have some mental work of their own to do to help Omegamon fight and that’s why they’re so quiet. But that’s just a thought. I do love the idea that the kids’ ties to their Digimon have more of an affect on their ability to battle than just their evolutions.
One thing a Jogress does is make you glow. Yeah yeah, we glowed before too. No, I mean GLOW.
Like, nonstop.
Also, I have figured out that Taichi and Yamato must have suction cups on their shoes and that’s how they don’t fall off Omegamon while he’s hurtling all over the place
Cue awesome rock version of the theme song battle music!! Omegamon kills nu!Diaboromon the same way he kills him in Our War Game, with a STAB. But that doesn’t stop the missile. Here I thought would be Koushirou’s turn to shine, but aside from continuing to keep tabs on things, he doesn’t get to join in the fight this time.
Omegamon is somehow able to detect missiles, I guess?
And lock on to the infected one, which conveniently shows an actual lock, is red, and even has the monster’s eyeball symbol. We also see a bunch of Digi code before this.
He absorbs the powers of all the Crests into his sword (!!) ...
(notice they’re still glowing!)
... and stabs it. Because in Digimon, stabbing is always the answer.
BOOM shakalaka
People of Tokyo: Wow that’s bright! I should probably avert my eyes or put on sunglasses. But first, to Instagram!
Thanks, Kouushirou’s computer.
The missle blows up way up high and no one gets hurt. They also don’t seem to care all that much about what this is either! Seconds later everyone’s devices lose power, including Koushirou’s computer. He is very distressed, but the outage doesn’t last long.
Yamato and Taichi’s suction cups finally lose their grip and they fall away into a bright light...
Omegamon became a butterfly!!
It is now certain, Taichi didn’t pull a Kouichi xD He’s perfectly fine. That’s the RIGHT way to get in and out of the digital world at a train station. Take notes, kids.
OK before we move on I must take a second to appreciate these text messages Koushirou receives from someone named Mr.Unknown (gee I’m sure we’ll never hear from him again!)
OMG my life is
WHAT KIND OF REACTION IS THAT TO YOUR IMMINENT DEATH!?!?
“Someone stop it!” Suddenly Japanese (also from Mr.Unkown)
Twenty bucks says this guy is Gennai? Ryou? Wallace? KEN?!
no don’t bet against me please, I have no money.
Have an adorable Hikari, who didn’t get to do anything with the feather in the end. Who knows if she even really has it. She DOES seem to totally know what happened with her brother though. Takeru might know also? But Hikari definitely does. Our little oracle is back.
So Taichi is fine, Koushirou is fine, Yamato is fine. They all get back to the human world safely. Taichi and Koushirou head home, wondering if all that really happened, talking about what could happen next. More importantly, the Taishiro power returns at full throttle.
Koushirou: Do you know about this? This? This?
Taichi: Hmm... hmmm... hmmm.. thinking makes my head hurt...
(Like I rag on Taichi for not thinking but tbh he’s quite the thinker and planner... maybe more so in this season than in the original.)
Gloves returned to pocket. Goggles still at the ready.
Then Taichi reaches out his hand... Koushirou stares at it like he’s not quite sure what to do with it. And Taichi’s like, “Thank you so much, for everything, you were a huge help!”
Koushirou: “But I didn’t do anything.”
Taichi: “You helped so much by doing all that research! You’re awesome!”
Koushirou: :D “Y-Yeah!!”
He agrees that he’s awesome!! My baby!!
They shake hands! They’re such good friends now!
... Then Taichi walks backwards out of the elevator with his hand still outstretched, staring at Koushirou
WHAT
WHAT THE HECK IS THIS!?!?
This show producers aren’t even TRYING to hide their bias hahaha okay that’s the Taishiro fan in me but HOW ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO READ THIS SCENE CMON LIKE!?
So Taichi’s about to go home, and at this point I’m thinking “I guess Koushirou’s never gonna ask that question about camp...!”
Then Taichi is like, “Oh yeah, didn’t you have a question about camp?”
Fricking. TAICHI.
I am absolutely stunned that it’s him who brings up Koushirou’s original errand xD Koushirou himself has completely forgotten about it! (Too busy basking in the glow of being called awesome about twenty times in what this episode establishes is less than an hour!)
Seriously Taichi is SUCH A DAD!? His mom comes home and tells him about her day. Hikari comes over and he pats her on the head and tells her she was brave and did a good job. All he needs is a newspaper and a tie to reach peak Dad-ness.
Hikari: “Thanks big brother!”
Taichi: “...? For?”
So about Yamato... on the elevator Taichi realizes he never found out where Yamato lives...
... It’s Shimane. Grandma’s house in Shimane! Well I mean, they could make it somewhere else, but the point is it’s super inaka countryside. Yamato has a call with Takeru which makes it seem like they indeed don’t live together, as Takeru shyly asks Yamato if he’ll come visit since it’s summer break, and Yamato says he does intend to go to Tokyo and see him. Not sure yet who Yamato’s living with, if it’s still his dad or he lives with his grandparents in this version, or there’s some other reason he’s not in Tokyo...
Yamato also asks if Takeru’s okay, and Takeru replies he was inside all day so he’s fine. That’s what makes me think Takeru knows about Yamato going to the digital world. He might not, but I like the idea that he does. My guess would be he knows because he’s seen Yamato do it or something, whereas Hikari just knows because she’s psychic :P
Then guess what! WE GO TO CAMP!
Only for like, two minutes, though. That was a bummer for me. Camp is just a vehicle to introduce a couple other characters, then they go home. Well, we don’t need two of the exact same show I guess... I’ll just appreciate this as a nod to the original.
First we see Jou! He’s hancho again and trying to tell other kids how to use a knife. He immediately cuts his finger. Good ole Jou I can’t wait to have him back.
Taichi and Koushirou are walking around camp and Koushirou trips due to Jou yelling and basically throws his laptop straight into the air
Laptop: “FREEEEEDOM!”
Mr Superior Reflexes AKA Taichi quickly grabs Koushirou and prevents him from smashing face first into the dirt. GOSH THEY JUST WILL NOT STOP WITH THE TAISHIRO. I CANNOT.
Koushirou: “H-H-Human c-c-contact?!?!?! Is this SKINSHIP”
Like y’all know this isnt my fault right? I wouldn’t have to say these things if the show didn’t make it so durn easy. Bahahahaha.
Guess who catches the laptop! Soooooraaaaa!
My girl is back! She’s got butterflies!
Koushirou says he knows who she is because the girls in his class always talk about how she’s so cooooool!
This episode establishes that Sora is 1) popular 2) well-liked 3) responsible 4) quick-thinking 5) athletic 6) Taichi’s old friend 7) coooooool in like, thirty seconds.
Taichi and Koushirou continue to spend aaaaaall their time together. My one complaint here is that all they do is talk about the digital world. And while I know it’s no surprise, the one thing I always loved about old Adventure was that to a certain extent, the kids got to act like kids. Of course they had uncanny adult wisdom and ability to sit still, lol. I understand that. So far in this show, they’re not really acting like children even a little bit. It’s all superheroing. That’s how I feel at the moment though - the only one I expect to really act like a child is Takeru, and probably Mimi, I’d guess. I do hope we get to see a larger range of personality from all of them in the future. It is only episode three.
Koushirou’s icon is a pineapple <3
So there’s a new threat but it’s not as obvious as the old one. Another power outage happens but they don’t know how important it is right away. Then both Taichi and Koushirou’s digivices start to glow! Taichi runs out, and here we finally got some new personality from him, something beyond friendliness and bravery: He really, really wants to see Agumon again. He’s already feeling the depth of that bond and it’s really been weighing on him that they parted so abruptly. He has so many questions. I would say, Koushirou talked about the digital world non stop because he finds it interesting, but Taichi talked about it because he misses Agumon. (Koushirou after all hasn’t met Tentomon yet.)
Before he can run out, Taichi runs into Hikari in the living room. She’s worried, and she clearly knows what he’s up to, but all she says is “Itterasshai.” I super appreciate that the set up and lighting is the same as these scenes between the two of them in original Adventure! It’s a total throwback to that hallmark ep of Adventure, episode 21.
Unable to think about anything but seeing Agumon again, Taichi runs outside to the train station where Koushirou is (I wonder if the train station is going to become like their base point or something). He doesn’t even notice Sora, but she notices him...
... and in true Sora fashion, immediately turns around and starts chasing after Taichi without a word xD
ugh I will always hate how PINK she is in this
Sora: “Taichi’s running somewhere awful fast... he has that look on his face... he’s going to get into trouble ugh I just know it”
The digivices glow and both Taichi and Koushirou disappear into the digital world. As they go through the vortex, we see a bunch of colored lights...
So this one is clearly Taichi and Koushirou, and Sora as well. My guess is she gets swallowed up as a result of following Taichi.
However, over here we have Yamato, Jou, and Mimi, but why would they all be together? Yamato’s fine, but how are the other two getting in?
It doesn’t seem like Takeru’s joining this time, which is interesting. But I might be wrong - only episode 4 will tell.
Taichi wakes up in the real Digital World and is finally reunited with Agumon. End episode 3 <3
I’m really curious about what’s coming next! I’m still pretty shocked that a Jogress happened so early, but I’m gonna guess now that we might not see it again for a good long while. My prediction is that Yamato’s gonna be more like the lone wolves of other seasons (Ken, Ruki, Kouji, etc) who don’t want to join the main team right away, then suddenly just do. Everyone loves a rogue hero. I am super excited for the whole team to be together though so we can see all those personality dynamics grow! I really want them to not go home for a while and have to live by their wits, but I don’t think that’s the way this show wants to go, it wants the drama of going back and forth between lives... OTOH, we now know for sure that it IS summer break, so I suppose they don’t really have a NEED to go home. Maybe we’ll get a bit of both - they usually go home after, but sometimes end up on a longer stay?
I think what I need most from this show is the rest of the team before it will really feel like Digimon Adventure to me. So looking forward to episode 4!
eta: I totally forgot about the pics I took of the trailer for next week!
Look how awesome this is! This is exactly what I am hoping sticks around for a good long time! We need the partners to bond and we need to live up to the name of “Adventure”!
Since the trailer only shows Taichi and Sora, I wonder if that means everyone’s split up. Koushirou’s light seemed a bit distant from the other two in that screencap up there, so maybe he lands somewhere else and they all have to find each other. Makes sense, really. I’d expected that for the other three but figured Koushirou would be with Taichi... but it’ll be awesome if he has to try to get by on his own in the beginning. Also, so excited for Birdramon!
Bonus: I found a vid on youtube that claimed to have English subs and I clicked out of curiosity... this is what it wrote when Taichi says “Koushirou”:
X’D Koushirou has so many nicknames now. DJ Wiseman, Kou the Bro, Awesome, Taichi’s New God, Godzilla... I love Youtube.

Hikari’s Role in Digimon Adventure Tri Part 5: Kyousei
Because someone has to talk about this! I just finished rewatching Kyousei, and guess what I noticed? She is not shafted at ALL! She had a great deal of good moments from her, she’s never spoken as much in previous movies as she is here, and like I’ve said already, her role is far from over! Now let’s start looking at her moments in here! Super, super long post ahead, with tons of spoilers, so i’m gonna use a cut! If you haven’t seen Kyousei yet, enter the cut content at your own risk!
Hikari being able to sense Digital World detesting them
We know very well from Adventure and 02 that Hikari’s always been a very sensitive person, and that she’s always had this weird connection to Digital World. It’s affecting her a great deal here, it can be heard from her voice. There’s this sort of pessimist sound in this dialogue, and from someone who’s quite a closed-up but honest person? It’s quite heavy. It’s hard for me to explain what I feel about this dialogue, but it just feels so her. Takeru asks her next what she means by all this, but we’re then skipped to Daigo and Hackmon. We’ll return to this later in the movie thou, so keep on reading!
Hikari’s dialogue at the fire with Meiko
You know what? A lot of people seem to think this scene is meant for Meiko, and partly it is. But honestly, this is where we see the optimistic side of Hikari, and I love her dialogue here a great, great deal. Her dialogue is so pure, and it’s why I love Hikari so so much. And it doesn’t end here, it continues.
I love Hikari a great deal guys. She’s so pure. She’s such a good person. All of that above is said by Hikari! She’s shining here so much! And the music, oh god I want to buy this movie series OST the minute it comes for sale, if it ever does. It’s that good. And look how everyone is smiling at Hikari’s pep-talk to Meiko at this moment.
But y’know, this only just now occured to me, but she could be refering to her own experience with the Dark Ocean in 02. Don’t give in to a weak heart, friends by your side... this is something she herself learned when she was drawn to Dark Ocean, and managed to get herself out of there with the help of Takeru and Miyako. With the help of her friends.
Hikari’s talk about the Digital World desesting them when Takeru asks her again
There’s quite a long pause here before Hikari says the following:
Takeru’s face. It was sort of my face too.
During this dialogue I was feeling really sad for Hikari. How would you feel when you’re able to sense the world around you telling you to “get out, we don’t want you here”. I love how Tailmon reacts to it thou.
The Digimons may have been rebooted and don’t remember the experience they had before current events, but they still have learned to care a great great deal of our chosen children. Other digimons join her here too, hugging and nuzzling their own partners.
Takeru’s look here is definitely a worried one. He if anyone knows when Hikari is trying to hide something. Taichi doesn’t seem too convinced in that screenshot either, thou after this everyone is smiling with Hikari.
But ohmygod the dialogue doesn’t end here! There’s a moment with Koushiro talking about how Hikari’s feelings aren’t wrong, and that there’s definitely something wrong with the Digital World they’re in right now.
Everyone is looking at Hikari with surprised faces, not really understanding what Hikari is saying. Or they do, but don’t want to face it.
Seriously, being such a sensitive person must be hard for Hikari. There’s another pause on dialogue when Takeru finally opens up.
Then Taichi steps in. Darn it, Taichi has such great dialogue in this movie as well.
And y’know, it makes sense for Taichi to have these dialogues, since he means so much to Hikari (I may talk about it later unless someone beats me to it). But this bothers me. Why are they a nuisance now. Because they’re a group of grown-up kids that can think for themselves? Were it Homestasis or Yggdrasil who threw them out of there soon after this, just... god damn it.
Hikari with Jou when they’re at the school
This moment is very small, but I love it still.
Jou dear, that’s not something you’re supposed to say-
I don’t know if Hikari used the -san instead of -senpai on purpose, but she’s the one who told him to shut it. It’s small, but I love it. Jou keeps on being amazing in Tri as well, haha!
Hikari cares about Meiko!
When Meiko learns that Homestasis has ordered Meicoomon to be eliminated, she sort of goes on depressed-mode.
Hikari is the first to react, and this actually happens a lot in the movie. Next up is Taichi telling Meiko that Meicoomon needs her right now. Meicoomon desires Meiko with her. After that, Hikari’s line is something I find so sweet.
This becomes the theme of the movie itself. Meiko starts trying to be Meicoomon’s hope from this moment on. Tries to find out what the hope is. And Hikari is the one that helped her to get there.
As a side note, this all happened in the first half of the movie. All of this dialogue. And we’re far from done.
The Dialogue between Sora, Mimi and Hikari
Just look at what Hikari says next.
Somehow I feel like she’s referencing some past event. Maybe the Vamdemon saga in Adventure, or Oikawa Arc in 02. I’m not entirely sure yet. But this is such a big line from her.
Even Takeru notices that Hikari is feeling down. And this is where he does what @50cyg pointed out in this post. Takeru is such an awesome kid in Tri, cheering on Hikari and trolling on his brother. My Takari Shipper ass is happy.
The Spooky Story scene is one of my favourite scenes in the whole series so far, but since this post is about Hikari, I’ll skip talking about it for now. I’ll just mention that Takeru so did that to cheer Hikari up, and I adore him for that.
Taichi’s talk with his mother on the phone
Wait what? Taichi? Wasn’t this supposed to focus on Hikari? Well, this scene may be focused on Taichi, but I feel it’s very important for Hikari as well.
This whole conversation hurts when you start thinking about what happens at the end. That’s why I’m including it. It holds a great importance to Hikari’s scene at the end. She was there next to Taichi to hear this conversation. Or, I think she heard. I know I’m sometimes able to hear someone speak from phone to someone else clearly from Hikari’s distance. Anyway.
Meiko’s dialogue about Meicoomon’s rampaging
I honestly don’t know what to call this scene. But just, it may be Meiko-focused scene, but just look!
Meiko tells Meicoomon to blame her, and then!
Hikari turns to her after she said that! She’s genuinily worried for Meiko. I’m not sure if she feels she’s relating to her pain, or what is, but like, she’s reacting to it.
She’s feeling something. She reacted same way when Taichi talked about not being able to do anything in Soushitsu.
Hikari fighting againsts Homeostasis
The absolute highlight! I freaking love this scene, because it’s the first time Hikari’s shown to resist a digimon god!
That’s Homeostasis’ line. Next up comes our badass Hikari.
How is she doing this? Is she finally resisting Homeostasis because she’s not feeling the same way with the digimon god anymore?
Why do I see people pointing out there being sacrifices in past series on this line here? That is not the point here! She doesn’t want to see any more sacrifices.
I... I have a feeling this is where Hikari’s conflict actually begins! This is where this gets god damn creepy as well!
What in the flying pluckmons is Not-Gennai doing inside Hikari’s mind? What the hell is going on??? And he’s smiling in creepy way!? Did he want this conflict between Hikari and Homeostasis to happen? Someone, get him out of there!
Bonus scene:
Good Taichi, take care of her! Sora too. Takeru as well <333 My Takari shipper ass please stay still. Also sibling relationship lover is happy.
“Please, kill Mei-chan“
I didn’t really know how to call this scene, but Hikari’s reactions are important! Very!
Hikari is telling Meicoomon to stop! She wants Meiko to stop suffering, that’s how she is feeling here! And when Meiko tells the chosen children to kill Meicoomon instead, guess who reacts first.
Yes, Hikari does. She’s bound on not letting there be any more deaths, and when Meiko says that, she’s not happy. She doesn’t want to do it.
Remember how Hikari said earlier that she believes each side of partners being each others hope? Well...
Looks like Meiko’s answer of hope is killing Meicoomon. I’m dead certain it’s not the answer Hikari was looking for when she said that line.
Then Taichi drops the line. He’s willing to help Meiko do her answer of hope. It’s huge for Taichi. Hikari reacts to this too, She’s clearly not feeling it. Her voice doesn’t want to accept what she just heard. And the next scene!
Screenshots don’t do any justice because Hikari reacts by body language! She’s squeezing Nyaromon after hearing her brother say that. She’s not accepting her brother say that! Remember how she was hesitant on killing digimon back in 02 as well? That talk between Taichi and Hikari? She’s never been ok with sacrifices nor killing Digimon.
Taichi’s supposed death
This is big. This is absolutely big. If you’re here still reading this, congratz! And wow :D But here we go. Remember, whenever the subtitle says Taichi with Hikari, she actually says Onii-chan, Big brother.
There’s a weird spark happening to Hikari’s feet at this scene.
She’s slowly walking towards the scene where Taichi supposedly died.
This is the line from the PV. You can hear her slowly breaking.
What does she mean? I was thinking that maybe this is related to her mom telling Taichi to take care of her. Does she feel lost without Taichi? Remember how in 02 episode 13, Hikari told Takeru that Taichi was by her side whenever Dark Ocean was calling her. Maybe that’s what she’s saying? Or something similar, I don’t know what so say I’m too shocked at this till.
Then it begins. Her Crest of light lights up on her forehead. I’m not sure why it’s in the forehead. But I believe it’s a sign of evolution. Her crest has always been the symbol of the light happening while evolution with digimon happen.
...There’s a spark on Nyaromon ohmygod no god please no.
I still don’t know what to call that... thing surronding her. Is it the infection? Koushiro’s laptop seems to imply so, but... what the hell is going on?
Yamato’s reaction is important! So very important! I don’t know why but it reminds me of Vamdemon saga when he was taking care of Hikari when Taichi was heading to the base. It’s not a reference to it, but I’m sure Yamato feels like he should be protecting Hikari now as well, with Taichi gone. But let’s continue.
She’s getting it all over her body.
Takeru is dead worried.
It’s now on her face! This is so creepy!
This right here seems to imply this being the infection but... is it? Or... I’ll come back to this later, because it’s hella creepy.
Anyway, Takeru runs towards Hikari. Then this happens.
The infection starts flying out of her...
Takeru is startled.
Nyaromon collapses on this, and then...
She’s loosing conciousness.
All of that weird stuff is gathering on Nyaromon. Takeru is definitely spooked. After some spooky animation...
Enter Ophanimon: Falldown Mode. She looks quite scary and beautiful at the same time.
And then! Here’s the creepy stuff again!
GET THE HELL OUT OF HER YOU CREEPER! Is he inside Hikari? Was that code whatever this Not-Gennai is entering Hikari and then releasing the hatred inside Hikari to dark-evolve Nyaromon? They are in the Digital World at that moment after all.
We then have everyone running towards Hikari, Takeru talking these lines. Then we have more creepy stuff when Ophanimon and Raguelmon are... well, I’ll call it airdancing.
Hikari... are you ok? Of course she’s not, her brother just died in front of her and she just unleashed a dark-evolution. Althou...
Does unleashing this compare to anything we’ve seen before in Digimon? This thing creeps the hell out of me. And the creepiness continues.
Is Not-Gennai talking through Hikari? What is happening? You guys have no idea how much I screamed and gasped when I rewatched this scene.
Quick side note, after that creepy Ophanicrackmon goes to human world, is this the Dark Ocean appearing in Human World as well?? It looks like it to me, but I’m not entirely certain.
...I haven’t seen Digimon Savers for years but, didn’t Yggdrasil try destroying the human world there as well? It was with Royal Knights. Hikari, look what you’ve unleashed! Is this that cruel fate the summary was talking about?
Of course, Hikari right now is in full-on emotional lockdown, not reacting to anything. Takeru is holding her, and she’s definitely not using her body at that moment. Something snapped inside her when Taichi died.
And that’s all of her moments!
God damn it, writing this took me 4 hours. And if you made it this far, I’m amazed. And I’m sorry for such a long, long rambling! But, as I said before, I adore Hikari dearly, and I felt the need to write this because seriously, she shined, and she wasn’t shafted aside at all.
On top of that, because she sort of unleashed this, this is what I believe being her conflict that she needs to face. She unleashed a dark creature. She no longer represents the light. She needs to have a role in next movie of some kind, otherwise he conflict stays undone.
...I hope I didn’t forget anything. But, thank you for reading. This was Aleira, signing off! ♥

I got fanfic questions! So... if the Chosen did not know Eimi (or Amy) previously, what would their first impressions of her be upon meeting her for the first time? (Up to you when they'd meet her--as kids, teens, adults, old folk, lol.) Second, what is one thing you wrote in one of your fanfics that you wish you didn't write and why?
I think the Chosen’s impressions of Eimi would vary a lot depending on the circumstances, so let me just pick one...
The Chosen meeting Eimi for the first time in the Digital World:
Taichi:
Beginning of Adventure: She’s quiet and sticks to the rear of the pack. I’d better make sure we don’t lose her.
End of Adventure: Eimi’s reliable and has good instincts. She’s a good mediator, too. Why the hell won’t she believe in herself?!
Yamato:
Beginning of Adventure: She doesn’t make much of an impression. She had better learn to keep up.
End of Adventure: She’s both too soft and too strong for her own good. I can count on her good judgement and and dependability, but only if her emotions aren’t running out of control.
Sora:
Beginning of Adventure: I know we’re in a lot of danger, but Eimi flinches when we approach her, too. Is she alright?
End of Adventure: Eimi is tender and strong, a dear friend I can count on. I hope she’ll come to see that soon.
Koushiro:
Beginning of Adventure: (He’s too busy asking questions and exploring to notice her, other than to note that she’s quiet and respectful).
End of Adventure: I admire her depth of caring and ability to read the emotions of people around her. She’s intelligent, easy to talk to, kind, and reliable. I wish she saw herself the way I see her.
Mimi:
Beginning of Adventure: I don’t think she likes me. I wonder why? It’s not my fault!!!! What’s her problem?!
End of Adventure: Eimi-chan is wound too tight and works too hard! I’ll stick with her to make sure she takes it easy sometimes! I know I can count on her if I need help! If anyone makes her sad, I’ll go after them!!!!!
Jyou:
Beginning of Adventure: Her kicked puppy attitude is kind of annoying, but... She always seems to be listening to everyone, and she’s never rude.
End of Adventure: Eimi is smart, dependable, and good with people. We get along really well, but sometimes, we make each other more anxious.
Takeru:
Beginning of Adventure: Eimi-san is quiet, but nice! She tells good stories and can sing really pretty!
End of Adventure: Eimi-san, Eimi-san, tell me a story! Eimi-san! Sing me a song! Eimi-san, did I tell you about the time Onii-chan did this? Eimi-san! Let’s play! Eimi-san!!!
Hikari:
Beginning of Adventure: She’s quiet and kind. It’s easy to be around her, but she seems stressed.
End of Adventure: Eimi-san is mature, smart, and nice. We both maybe bottle things up too much, though.
To be honest, I would love to write a short fic (probably about five chapters) where everything is canon, and it starts when the Chosen are starting their careers after graduating. In this scenario, Koushiro would meet Eimi through work, and they’d hit it off. Part of me reaaallly wants to write a story that isn’t so DRAMATIC and EMOTIONAL, but I also wonder if it would be interesting, lol!
I guess a lot of the appeal would come from seeing the Chosen as (mostly) well-adjusted adults following their adventures, and everyone teasing Koushiro and/or being impressed by his first serious, real-life, actual-factual girlfriend. I love the thought of everyone being so curious about the mystery girlfriend that they demand a get-together, and Eimi is shoved into a crowd of strangers (the Chosen) who are super curious to meet her. Can you imagine being accepted into this weird pseudo family, lol?!?!?! Meanwhile, everyone is trolling Koushiro about his sweet-voiced girlfriend with, ah, American proportions while Mimi flirts shamelessly with Eimi (also “Did you know Koushiro-kun and I briefly dated in high school? It’s true! Let’s all meet up some time~~~ *wink*” And Eimi actually dies and also possibly Koushiro).
Ohmygod, lol!
Although in this case, I think the most common reaction would be, “Holy shit, she’s real!” XD XD XD
OH MAN THERE’S A WHOLE ‘NOTHER QUESTION! Hmm...
There’s honestly a lot I would change about my fics if I could do it easily.
1.) I would go through GUWY and fix the ages/honorifics/name choices/etc. I made so many mistakes, lol!
2.) I wrote Voices on the fly, updating every week for a year. Because of the demanding pace, I ended up utilizing a lot of tropes. And poor Taichi got the short end of the stick when it came to material! So basically, I would think more about it beforehand XD
3.) There’s some stuff in Four Years that I would change... Mostly how Sora is lightly... fetishized for her race. I wasn’t too bad about it, but I made a few unfortunate word choices that I would love to go back and tweak x_x Also, sometimes with Mimi I was trying to portray her as playful and carefree, and I went too far with the sexual stuff, I think? I’d like to rethink the exact note I’m trying to hit there. Same thing with Tai’s aggression and Matt’s ego. Like, I can see what I was trying to do, and I wasn’t way far off, but... It calls for more careful handling than I gave it the first time around, I think. And poor Hana ends up looking like a bad guy sometimes, when really she was in the wrong place and Izzy was an idiot. I think I was pretty clear that it’s never intentional on her part, but I feel bad that I put her in that position, lol!!!! (Thanks for your patience XD)
4.) In general, I’m still struggling with repetition, especially emotional repetition. I’m seeing this a lot in Seeking Resonance lately. I can’t wait until it’s finished so I can tear it apart and make it more streamlined.
Ahh, that was fun to think about! Thank you
Anyway, I really appreciate your asks! It’s a fun thing to think about, and I could really use that right now
