#unless it’s in an RP#please do not make your characters overpowered to the point where they can oneshot bad guys#or where no one else can lift a finger against them#making them powerful to an extent is fine of course depending on how the game works#but don’t make it so your character is the Best at Everything to the point where it’s not fun for anyone else#also don’t demand everyone else’s characters be friends with yours#I just think of one kid I met when I was younger#who jumped into my chat and demanded everyone else at all the canon characters#who all loved and adored her character#(she did not stay long)#don’t do this#like if a friend wants to do it that’s fine#but don’t demand a chatroom of strangers bend to your will
I think OP was referring to when OCs are made solo. In that situation, whatever world the kid creates for their Mary-Sue is most likely created after them and literally built around them and tailored to that one character.
By nature, a collaborative work like a roleplay is gonna be different, yeah. Because there’s a difference between making a character and using a character to make a story. If any characters bring their own rulesets to the roleplay, the other characters have to abide by those rules too. (For example: if one RPer has a rule that close encounters with their character must always end in either murder or mind-control, the kid shouldn’t try to force such an interaction between their OC and that character toward any other outcome.)
I am actually so serious I think it really messes with a childs creativity and joy to tell them to never make a mary sue OC. Like that unbridaled form of joy where you make a self insert OC who super cool and everyone loves them and they have every superpower in the world SHOULD be something a kid makes, it nourishes their ability to create things for fun and not be stifled by "oh but what if my character is too overpowered and cringey...". whatever
