There's something really strange and creepy about the self-appointed diaspora police who fixate on the exact breakdowns of strangers' ethnic backgrounds.

Yeah, I get the "I'm 1/32nd Cherokee princess" thing but "is your blood puuuuuure" is super gross as well, especially if the person doing it has nothing to do with the community in question.

#it's especially awful when it's about how someone is engaging with the culture of their own grandparents whom they know and love #and whose community they have been personally part of because this is in fact their actual family #and equating 'insufficiently pure according to me god emperor of all diasporas' with the cherokee princess thing... c'mon #anghraine rants #discourse hell #us american blogging #(adding the usa tag bc this kind of discourse does seem extremely us - like you even get it #from us fans for things like tolkien where the us american flavor is very strange)
