BIOGRAPHY
TRIGGER WARNING: n/a but if you need one added pls let me know!!
Lydia’s childhood is a complex mix of having the silver spoon but an empty bowl. Her family had money and status but with that came the social expectation she would follow in her parents footsteps. In her teens, this proved complicated when all she wanted to do was dance but her parents prioritized STEM classes. Lydia often had strange occurrences in her childhood. Voices only she could hear, seeing things that others couldn’t, being able to sense any bad event, and she swore she brought a frog back to life. Hushed arguments at night, her grandmothers stern tone, Lydia would listen to her family argue from the stairs beneath her. Words she didn’t understand and one phrase in particular that she did ‘Don’t encourage her anymore.’
And that became the theme of her life. Grandma Reagan wasn’t around as much after that. Recitals became less important, praise was only for pushing herself to the limit, and while she understood her parents motives as she got older, as a kid she resented them and the pressure.
College was nothing but a blur of classes, crying, and the pit in the bottom of her stomach she couldn’t force down. Eventually, the pit grew so strong and so dark, the voices became so loud and so deafening, the next thing she knew she was in the woods and screaming. She felt better once she did. A mysterious loss of foliage happened for months after.
The more she suppressed all the things in her head the more they seemed to go away. At least for the most part. Sometimes she swore she could still make plants grow. Or that she saw or heard something no one else could. But years of science classes taught her the tired brain can make you think a lot of things. She just needed sleep. She needed medication. She needed stress management. She told herself these things and practiced these things and eventually it went away altogether. And then her grandmother passed.
Grandma Reagan left her house in Raven’s Peak to Lydia in her will. Much to the annoyance of other family members, but Lydia had always been the closest with the old woman. Even after all the years, Lydia found comfort in her grandmother, always calling to chat or seeing her during the holidays. The woman was eccentric and believed in all the deemed nonsense of the world, Lydia figures that adds to the houses weird vibes.
The house gave her the creeps and still does now that she lives in it. But it’s old. It just needs love. The woods scare her at night, and memories of her childhood being told to stay out of the woods and all the stories don’t help.
She’s chalking it up to the stress of renovations and homeownership and moving and a new job, but the voices are back and they’re louder. She swears she burst a lightbulb the other night and she keeps waking up standing at the edge of the woods. Lydia wants to keep the house since it’s generational, but she isn’t sure she can stay in the house much longer. She isn’t sure she can handle the weird vibes of Ravens Peak either, but she’s here now.
Extra facts:
Lydia is divorced. A long term relationship and a short term marriage they were kind of doomed from the start. While she misses her grandmother, the inheritance of the house came at a good time.
Lydia’s parents divorced in her teens, she isn’t sure what sparked the fight and neither of her parents will say why. She’s not particularly close with her parents, but she still keeps regular contact.
She has two Dobermans named Goose and Cake. They are lazy.
She still dances and actually converted one of the rooms in the house into a studio.
Lydia's grandmother was a specialist in necromancy, dark magic, and mediumship. These are gifts Lydia should have inherited and did but she is not trained in. In fact, her gifts are now rampant and unchecked which could prove interesting for everyone involved.
