Seriously, Ahn-senpai can be such an impatient nag sometimes. I would know, I can be like that too when I’m in a bad mood! Thankfully, my current state of living a small power trip boosted me well enough that I could enjoy some positivity in my mind.

Now, let’s see. Hoodie is firm in my head. A bit of sunlight hits my hands, but that shouldn’t be enough to make me lose my mind. Above me, some festival lanterns hung up, filled with coins, as one would expect.

...When you stop to think about it, the whole premise of this ‘treasure hunt’ event is kind of dumb. Surely the royal estate would have control over the manufacture of these lanterns and, consequently, of the coins put inside of them. Couldn’t they just ask for whoever made the coins to directly provide those to the Light mage?

“Not necessarily. If what makes these coins special is that they were previously imbued with Light magic, then it’d be impossible for Light aligned magic users to create more of these right now, as they have been weakened. Thus, it’s a matter of retrieving these small pockets of Light magical energy in big enough amounts that Lumen can be restored to normal.”

Hmmmm, that does make sense ‘in verse’. Of course, you and I both know that the whole point of this event is simply to have ‘characters’ like us to go on a goose chase around the city while being bothered by an external force. It is the exact same premise as the first ‘event’ that we dealt with back in that other world with Masters and Servants.

Anyway, I’d better do my show already for Ahn-senpai’s sake. The balloons are way too high for me to reach by jumping, but I have come up with a way to overcome that issue. It’s 21:00, meaning that the street lights are turned on, as it would normally be time for them to lighten the night streets. Thus... they are easy ‘food’ for me to grab.

“Lightning Rod.”

By activating the boon, the lights’ electrical energy wastes no time in surging from them towards my body. I quickly feel the way that my magical energy increases at a steady pace, as it manifests in red electricity crackles and black snakes around me. ...I think I might even be generating enough static energy to hover a few centimeters.

Nice.

But well, I’m not here just to absorb electricity. I’ve gotta release it. And I know just what spell to use next.

“Divine Trident!”

In an instant, three tridents made out of red electricity manifest by my side. Usually, they would be at a reasonable size for one to handle in the same fashion as one would do with a physical weapon, but with all the energy that I managed to gather before? These bad boys have been beefed up to be like, 2 meters long!

With a swing of my arms, the tridents shoot up, piercing several lanterns before they dematerialize. Just a few second later, I can feel several coins falling by my side. Success.
