Hey there
I’m sooo obsessed with everything you write .. You’re so talented it’s insane
Might I request something really really angsty like heart crushing angst where the reader is suffering alone and pining over Joel while he goes on dates in Jackson (bc he never thought that reader is interested because of age gap) but Ellie notices and tries to bring them together
AN | Okay but imagine also some jealous!reader. All I will say is that there is a happy ending 🥰
Pairing | Joel Miller x Fem!Reader
Warnings | Language
Word Count | 2.7k
Masterlist | Joel, Main

Another evening, which meant another disappointment.
You sighed heavily as you watched him walk down the street, a pretty blonde woman happily blabbering away next to him. Your heart clenched and stomach flipped at the sight. You hated it, even though you were in position to have any sort of opinion on the subject. Almost as if he sensed your unease and prying eyes, he turned around and caught your eyes. He offered you a small smile that you didn’t have the energy to return. Instead you turned around and walked away, trying to blink back the tears that threatened to give you away. He was left confused, but his attention was quickly stolen again by the woman at his side.
You hated that you had feelings for him; you hated the fact that you could never have him even more.
But - let’s rewind. It hadn’t always been like this. At one point you were sure you had a shot with Joel Miller. He’d been sweet on you since you moved to Jackson a few years back. At first you thought this was how he acted with everyone; Ellie had informed that it was most definitely not how treated just anyone.
And you let yourself get your hopes up. Maybe, just maybe, he felt even a verisimilitude of the ocean of feelings you held for him in return. But the times you allowed yourself to put your feelings on display, he either did not realize what you were doing or he ignored your affections. The first time you chalked it up to a fluke - that maybe you weren’t being clear or direct enough. After the next few times you were almost positive that he didn’t reciprocate your feelings. He was probably just putting up with you….the girl that pined over him and loved him the way the moon loves the ocean.
Over time you pulled back from him, spent less time around him, maybe yourself scarce when he was around. A little bit more every day you allowed the divide to grow. At first Joel had chalked up to you actually being busy, or just being in a mood, but eventually he knew what was going on. That this was intentional. You didn’t bother to explain yourself, didn’t even give him the opportunity to ask why.
You hid yourself away while he put himself out there. Yeah, feelings really sucked sometimes.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You had been trying to enjoy a drink. One drink with a friend at the end of a long week; it was innocent and honest enough.
But you couldn’t help the way your eyes gravitated to the door each time it opened. It was like the masochist part of you was wanting to see him and allow yourself to get hurt.
This evening it hurt. You watched as Joel held the door open, a saccharine little smile on his face, as a gorgeous woman walked in. She was beaming at him, and her hand reached for his almost instantly. This had to be the third or fourth woman you’d seen him out with in recent memory.
“You’re staring,” Daisy hissed as you tore your gaze from the door and turned back to your finger, “could you be any more obvious?”
“What do you mean?” you tried to keep your voice as calm as possible, painting a sweet smile on your features.
“Joel,” she started, completely seeing through your bullshit, “it’s so clear to anymore with eyes, and probably without eyes, that you’re in love with him.”
“Daisy!” you clamped your hand over her mouth and looked around to make sure that no one else heard her, “shut up!”
“Why?’ she pried your hand away with a huge smirk, “because it’s true?”
“It is not,” you sounded like you were pleading with her more than anything else, “he’s just…another man. Besides…I’ve tried to make a move before - don’t laugh at me - and he all but rejected me. I’m not looking for any more humiliation.”
“That’s impossible,” she scoffed and raised her eyebrow, “he likes you! If you’re not looking at him, he’s always looking at you.”
“No,” shaking your head fervently, a small part of your heart couldn’t help but wonder if what she was saying was true, “you’re wrong.”
“Babes,” she patted your knee, “I can see him right now and he looks bored out of his mind. He’s totally not even paying attention to what she’s saying and - oh. Oh. He’s totally looking at you.”
“Stop,” you sighed softly, fighting the urge to turn around and see for yourself, “it’s not anything and it’s never going to be anything. So.”
“So,” she teased back, “he’s coming over so be on your best behavior.”
Panic set in immediately as you wondered if you had enough time to run away - but he made up your mind for you.
“Daisy,” Joel gave her a nod as she grinned at him before saying your name and turning to look at you, “hi.”
“Hey,” you allowed yourself the briefest of glances before turning back to stare at your drink as though it was the most interesting thing in the world.
“Everything alright?” he asked, gently pushing for answers, “haven’t seen you around much.”
“‘m fine,” you waved him off, “better get back to your date.”
He remained silent for a moment, his brow setting into a hard line before turning to walk away, “see y’all around.”
Daisy’s mouth dropped open as she looked between you and his retreating back, “that was harsh.”
“Daisy, he’s on a date,” she sighed heavily, “he can go and be happy with her.”
“You do care about him,” after a few moments, you nodded slightly, “well then.”
“Can we just drop it?” you asked softly, “please?”
“Okay,” she promised, “okay.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Almost a week had passed since you’d last seen Joel. It had served as short of a blessing and curse at the same time. It made it easier to separate yourself from him, but served to make your heart yearn and ache for him. Over time, you figured, that too would pass and you’d be able to move on from him.
But Joel Miller, a stubborn and steadfast man, was not about to make your life that easy.
He found you walking home and practically sprinted to catch up with you. Part of you was tempted to ignore him, but then you felt him put his hand on your arm, “hey, stop. “
“Joel.”
“You’ve been ignorin’ me for long enough,” and yeah…he wasn’t afraid in the slightest to call you out. You stopped and turned to him, crossing your arms over your chest, “I think you owe me at least an explanation.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about-”
“Don’t lie to me,” he scrubbed a hand over his tired face as you shrugged innocently, “I know something is wrong, and I wish…I thought we were friends. You can tell me anything.”
“There’s nothing to tell. You didn’t do anything,” you wanted to tell him the truth, wanted to tell him that his only fault was not feeling the same way about you, “I’ve just been busy and stuff. It’s not that deep.”
“Quit lying to me.”
“Fuck!” you threw up your hands in frustration, “fine - Joel, I don’t want to be your friend. We can’t be friends. I don’t want…you.”
He recoiled like you’d slapped him across the face. In some ways, he would have that - it would have hurt less. You felt like crying at the look of surprise and disappointment that crossed his features. You hadn’t meant for it to be so harsh and brutal, “oh.”
“I should go,” go and crawl into your bed and cry yourself to sleep because you’d hurt yourself and him.
“Why?” his question was simple but pointed, “tell me why and you’ll never have to be again. You owe me an explanation at least because before all of this - I thought we were okay.”
“Joel-”
“Please.”
“Because I’m in love with you.” you weren't sure if you’d really meant to say the words out loud but as soon as they tumbled out, both of you stared at each other in shock. Well…there was no going back now, “because I’m in love with you and you don’t feel the same and I can’t handle that. And maybe it’s stupid and selfish, but I can’t just be your friend, Joel. It kills me a little bit every time I see you out with someone else, and I’m just here being pathetic and pining. And I’m sorry to do this, but the only way I can see myself getting over any of it is by not being your friend.”
“You…you’re in love with me?” was all he managed to choke out, eyes soft and wide.
“I’m sorry,” you stared at the ground, kicking at a rock, “I didn’t mean for this to happen. But you wanted the truth and there is it.”
“Oh,” you already knew that he didn’t reciprocate your feelings, but his response didn’t make you feel any better.
“I’m going to…go,” you didn’t wait for him to say anything else, turning on your heel and practically running the rest of the way home. You felt tears pearl up and run down your cheeks, but didn’t bother to wipe them away, instead running inside and slamming the door shut.
That might have been the most painful and humiliating moment of your life. But at least it was all over now.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
But Joel…no. It was far from over for him because he had just experienced about a million revelations at once.
The most prevalent of which was that you were in love with him. He had no clue…not even a sliver of hope. But now he knew. He knew.
He'd thought about following you home that night but had decided against it, figuring it was best to give you some space.
Joel even let a few days pass before he couldn't take it anymore. He had to see you, had to talk to you before he completely lost his mind.
And yes, he probably shouldn't have come to your work, but he couldn't stop him. You hadn't even noticed it was him when you heard the bell over the door to the coffee shop twinkled but didn't bother to see who it was. People normally just seated themselves; but this time someone walked towards you behind the counter.
You turned around and gasped when you saw it was Joel on the other side of the counter. You thought about ducking under the counter but it was much too late for that. Instead you stood there wordlessly while he tried to find the right words.
"Sorry for ugh, showing up like this," he scratched at the back of neck nervously, "I just really had to talk to you."
"A-about what?" Your voice sounded so small and squeaky that you cringed internally. You did want to seem like a pathetic little mouse on top of everything.
"The other night," he cleared his throat as your face burned. Fuck.
"Look I'm sorry about all of that," you sighed, cheeks way too warm, "I shouldn't have said anything and I'm sorry if I made things…awkward."
"I'm the one that should be sorry," he whispered after a few beats of silence, "I should have just said what I wanted to. But I got scared."
"Scared? You?" You raised an eyebrow as he met your eye and nodded, "of what?"
"Of telling you how I really feel."
"Oh," you waved a hand dismissively, "I already know that you just want to be my friend. Look, Joel, I don't think I'll be able to do that. I can't just change my own feelings."
"That's not…no," and he sighed softly, taking a moment to gather himself, "that's not exactly what I meant."
"W-what do you mean then?" Your eyes widened but you found yourself leaning closer to him. He'd approached the counter now and was very close to you. Your heart was hammering against your ribcage and your mind was reeling with the possibilities of what he could say or do, "Joel?"
Joel hesitated for a moment before reaching up and holding out a hand towards your face. You stood still and when you didn't try to brush him off, he put his hand on your face and brushed his thumb over your cheek. If you had felt warm before, you felt like you were on fire now. His touch was a juxtaposition of soft and rough and had you preening into his touch.
"Can I kiss you?" He whispered his question, almost so quiet that you weren't really sure he'd actually said anything. But then a look of shock crossed your features. Joel wondered for a moment if he'd completely messed up but then the smallest hint of a smile crossed your features.
"Uh huh," you left dumbfounded as you blinked at him, "yes."
He ghosted his fingers along your jaw before slowly pressing his lips to yours. And you almost fell apart from even the simplest of touches. It felt so right, so perfect that you wondered why you hadn't done this a lot sooner. Kissing Joel Miller was everything.
Joel pulled back and gave you a questioning look, trying to gauge your reaction. Your mouth opened and closed a few times before settling into a small pout, "why did you kiss me?"
He laughed - nervous - before turning back to you, "isn't it obvious, sweetheart?"
"Isn't what obvious?" You exhaled sharply, "oh. So, you don't like me as just a friend?"
"No, I don't," he nodded.
"You like me…" you trailed off and waved your hand around, "as more than a friend."
"Bingo."
"You never said anything."
"Neither did you," he had you there as you shrugged sheepishly, "why didn't you?"
"I didn't think you'd ever want someone like me. Me," you wanted to curl up into a small ball and die at how pathetic the confession sounded out loud, "why didn't you?"
"Same reason," he was close to your lips and you could have just about kissed him, "why would you want me?"
"That's a silly question," you huffed slightly but nonetheless found yourself giving him a beaming smile.
"I could say the same to you," and with that, you couldn't stop yourself and kissed him again, "there's a million things to say but I'd like to tell them some other time. Like maybe over dinner…"
"Are you asking me on a date?" Your eyes went huge as he nodded, "what about all those…other girls?"
"Admittedly…they were a vain attempt to get over you," he chewed the inside of his cheek as he chanced a look at you, "and nothing ever happened with any of them. Nothing more than dinner or a beer. So."
"So," and yeah, by this time you were beaming. Your smile was brighter than the sun and prettier than the lushest flowers. And Joel Miller was a sucker for you, "nothing?"
"Nada," he promised, "but I'll let you decide…you don't have to give me an answer right now."
"I already know the answer - yes," Joel was over the moon already, "when are you free?"
"Any time for you," he insisted and you knew that was true. He'd always been like that for you, and you only.
"Tonight?" You blurted out eagerly before stopping yourself.
"Tonight," he agreed, "do you want to come over? I'll make dinner and dessert."
"That sounds…lovely," trying to keep your mind in check was already a challenge. You knew exactly what you had in mind for dessert, "I'm off at seven if that's okay."
"Of course," he reached for your hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, "tonight. Seven."
"Okay," your response was a dreamy sigh that had him yearning hard for you already - more than he already had which had seemed impossible, "see you tonight, Joel."
"See you tonight, sweetheart."

11/13/1997- Log date.
27 years ago the earth stopped spinning all the planets drew closer including the sun and moon affecting not only the gravitational pull but the oceans level and earths temperature right before a meteor crashed so hard into the earth it split the ground open into hell like lilo and stitch and that was the day i spawned onto earth.
happy birthday to me♏️🥳

Okay but consider: ASTRONOMY LESBIANS
This specific post is going to be me gushing over the astronomy potential Touka and Nemu have with each other and why it makes me feral, it's more me pointing out some things than any actual analysis. Still, here you go, have fun!
So, this is the thesis: Touka is the sun/day and Nemu is the moon/night.
First of all, night and day are intrinsically connected. The sun's light gives the moon its glow during the night and the moon remains present and visible during the day, if a little harder to see in the full light of the sun. The former sounds an awful lot like how Touka gave Nemu visibility to the general public through the website for her books and continues to do so on the regular, dutifully, and the latter is to me the same effect as any scene they're in together; everyone in-universe and outside of it always pays more attention to Touka, because she's the more boisterous one, louder, etc. The radiant sun, too bright to ignore compared to the soft glow of the moon.
Now, I love the moon's effect on the oceans on Earth. Its control over the tides is due to its gravity being strong enough that the tide is pulled slightly closer to it. If you look at when the tides are highest, you'll see that tides are always highest when the moon is directly overhead, but there's also another high tide on the opposite side of the planet. If you mapped it out, you'd get this oval shape of the tides, where a "tip" of the oval is always pointing at the moon. Well guess what, the SUN also does this! It's just less noticeable, but it's why low tide doesn't always happen when you think it would. And since they both do this, their effects can be combined! This is why the highest of tides always occur around full and new moons, with the effects being even stronger during lunar eclipses, and with solar eclipses being the strongest of them all, which probably added to the effect of ancient civilizations freaking out during them cause the tide was so high, it just added to the chaos of the sun being blocked out too. Tides are highest about the full and new moons because that is when the moon and the sun are lined up. Gee doesn't that sound familiar and like it could apply to a certain pair of idiots who work really well together (as per Ui's words).
Here's a helpful visual gif for the tide thing and some quotes from the National Ocean Service:
Together, the gravitational pull of the moon and the sun affect the Earth’s tides on a monthly basis. When the sun, moon, and Earth are in alignment (at the time of the new or full moon), the solar tide has an additive effect on the lunar tide, creating extra-high high tides, and very low, low tides — both commonly called spring tides. One week later, when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other, the solar tide partially cancels out the lunar tide and produces moderate tides known as neap tides.
And as a fun extra:
Once a month, at perigee, when the moon is closest to the Earth, tide-generating forces are higher than usual, producing above average ranges in the tides. About two weeks later, at apogee, when the moon is farthest from the Earth, the lunar tide-raising force is smaller, and the tidal ranges are less than average. When the Earth is closest to the sun (perihelion), around January 2 of the calendar year, tidal ranges are enhanced. At aphelion, when the Earth is furthest from the sun, around July 2, tidal ranges are reduced
So like. I don't think I need to point out the moon's distance from the sun and its effects here. Now let me go to something else: Touka and Nemu have a dual unit, the attribute of which is darkness. Here's a tidbit about it that I yoinked from another post:
Your pupils contract in response to visible light, but not all of the sun’s light is visible. During an eclipse, your pupils widen because it’s dark, but there’s an outer layer around the sun that mostly only puts out light that’s not visible to us, but that can still damage your retinas. Thus, looking at an eclipse makes your pupils open up like it’s dark, which lets more of the invisible damage beams in. The sun doesn’t get a critical multiplier on its damage when HP is low. Equipping the moon gives the sun a bonus to backstab.
And then I pointed out the dual unit and its attribute, like an eclipse. Such an apt metaphor. Now, this isn't all, though the astronomy rant is far less connected and organized than the other more essay-ish posts, but I just wanted to cover at least some of the bond things before I yell about why each of them fits their assigned astral body/time so well. Actually... Let's consider the solar wind for a second.
So, for those with less astronomy knowledge, here are the basics. The sun releases a continuous outflow of particles and radiation that we call the solar wind. The solar wind washes over the planets, moons and other bodies in our solar system, and every object, planet or person traveling through space has to contend with this. Our moon in particular has the scars (or bad tan) to prove it. Ever wondered what gives the moon that distinctive pattern of darker and lighter swirls? That would be the sun over there. Or, well, research suggests that the solar wind and the moon’s crustal magnetic fields (bubbles of "sunscreen") work together to give that pattern. See, here on Earth, we’re largely protected from the damaging effects of the solar wind, because it's magnetized, therefore Earth’s natural magnetic field deflects the solar wind particles around our planet so that only a small fraction of them reach our planet’s atmosphere. The moon however has no global magnetic field. It's magnetized rocks near the lunar surface that create those small, localized spots of magnetic field that I referred to as "bubbles of sunscreen" up there, because they kinda are acting like sunscreen by deflecting solar wind particles on a much smaller scale than Earth’s magnetic field. The surface of the moon isn't really made of "just rock" (it's called regolith, actually), and so as those particles flow toward the moon, they are deflected to the areas just around the magnetic bubbles, where chemical reactions with the regolith darken the surface. And there is Something To Be Said about this, something intimate about it... Something something accepting every part of someone else, something something being permanently marked and irreversibly changed by another (I've called them twin flames before)...
Here are some points to consider, particularly for Nemu:
They spend more time under the light of day (Touka, early riser, "rise with the sun" is very likely literal for her since she gets up long enough before school time to have more than enough time to do Things as per her quotes) vs awake at night (Nemu habitually staying up late to read and write, we have many lines about it particularly from the quotes, and a visual from the anime).
Nemu has been depicted dramatically in front of the moon twice, once in her intro in Arc 1 Chapter 7 and once in the anime, I believe final season's first episode? The flashback, right after they put Ui in Mokyu and have the whole exchange about it on the roof of the hospital.
In relation to the phases of the moon: as the moon goes around the Earth, different parts of it are illuminated by the sun, and we see a different amount of light reflected back at us, and I have decided that relates to how Nemu adapts seamlessly to whatever Touka's mood is because she just knows her that well (gestures vaguely at that sunset scene in Touka's MGS or any of the other times when Nemu knows it's not the right time to take a jab at Touka and so on and so forth), but honestly there's a huge number of gay interpretations of it. AND it's accurate to the way Nemu acts as a Magius, kind of, when it comes to the Feathers at least. People normally remember her as the Magius who was kindest to the Feathers (full moon, brightest guiding light), but she was also the one doing the brainwashing, giving the massacre orders, and delighting over her suggestion of using the Feathers as a shield (new moon, known as the dark side).
Feelings of being neglected/ignored/not noticed by passersby or people around her could be related to how the new moon is, literally Not Visible™️ to the naked eye except when it is silhouetted against the sun during a solar eclipse (COUGH). Plus, you could argue the fact that people love Nemu most when she's giving them something (light, full moon).
In terms of giving, let's hop over to Touka for a second:
The sun is constantly giving off energy. Light, heat, life. It's quite impossible to forget the sun is there, unlike the moon (or well it's more like you always sort of actively notice the sun, but not the moon due to its subtler presence). Aligns pretty well with Touka's.......... everything. Including the compulsion to take center stage. There is nothing else in the sky besides the sun during the day, it is alone in the heavens save for the subtle presence of the moon, which nobody else notices.
Then there's this post which I will quote here:
Big fan of sun motifs in characters not necessarily being about positivity and happiness and how they're so "bright and warm" but instead being about fucking brutal they are. Radiant. A FORCE of nature that will turn you to ash. That warmth that burns so hot it feels like ice. Piercing yellow and red and white. A character being a Sun because you cannot challenge a Sun without burning alive or taking everything down with them if victorious.
ALIGNS PRETTY WELL WITH TOUKA DOESN'T IT. Almost a little bit too literal in some senses! Being bright and warm does apply to her as well, mind you, she's bright in the intelligent sense and to some extent the temperament sense (though she is a lot less bright than she pretends to be with the very eerie cheerful mask she likes to wear), and she's warm and nurturing towards the people she cares about. Speaking of warm and nurturing, the sunlight makes plants grow, Nemu is a forest attribute in-game and has forest magic, nurtured by the fire of the sun (Touka, a flame attribute magical girl with the corresponding fire magic).
I've compared these two to binary stars in a fic before, but I really love their sun/day and moon/night possibilities! You can even interpret a few things like this:
Under a scorching sun, you are blinded, and in deserts caused by its rays you are likely to experience hallucinations, mirages. I can relate this to Touka's mask-wearing habits, for example. The sun is unyielding and you will never escape its effects completely no matter how hard you try. It's what allows life to exist and simultaneously also a force of destruction, much like fire itself. I could go on a related rant about how TouNemu's attributes really really fit them- I will stop myself before I do however.
Back to Nemu's side of things again. The night is often considered the most dangerous time of day pretty much everywhere around the world, but that's not quite right. It's because the night is obscured in darkness, quiet, secretive. You cannot know the night. It's fully possible that something will jump out at you at any point (assuming you're out and about), and you can never be 100% sure that nothing will. You have a higher chance of slipping, and good god if you've ever been outside in bumfuck nowhere with no lights around in the mountains or something on a new moon, you know very well how difficult navigation becomes without the moon's guidance
But, the night, especially in the East, is often considered shelter as well (from what I've gathered). The quietness aspect is retained over there, but it's seen in a more positive light, and the different attributes of the nighttime are more appreciated and respected compared to the West, in my experience digging into stuff at least. The night can easily be what soothes people after enduring the flames of the day. Whether literally because of the heat or just because for most people, daytime is work time, it's Getting Things Done time. Nighttime has always been more… for the self, to relax and to think. More intimate. Humans don't really work according to nature these days, but pieces of it are still present in how the night remains much quieter than the day, in how a teenager might feel safer, more raw and more connected with their true self in the dead of night on their phone under the covers than at any other time of the day, etc. It's a time of rest for a majority of living beings. Slower and less hectic than the daytime.
"What about those who are up at ungodly hours of the night still having hours-long conversations?" That's meaningful. It's necessary for the human mind, for our hearts. That's rest. It constitutes a "shelter" for the people in question. Those convos I'd bet are not about work or about stressors in their lives, but rather about things they find genuinely interesting and/or things they love. Or, alternatively, venting, yes, but even that counts as "unwinding" and reaching something closer to peace.
There's also something to be said about how Touka relies on Nemu so often (she says as much in her regular Tap 8 quote), and looks to her for guidance like the sailors of old looked up at the night sky for directions. Nemu is drawn to Touka like the moon is affected by the sun's gravity, and Touka loves her and studies her (she REALLY pays attention to Nemu, as I've pointed out before) like humans have always studied and observed the night sky.
AND also Touka = lantern, light. Nemu = sleep. Just saying.
COUGH. Yes. So. This has been my series of thoughts on TouNemu astronomy lesbianism. I'm pretty sure you can see how each point relates to the characters pretty clearly.

Ocean Tides: The Moon's gravitational pull causes the ocean waters to bulge, creating tides. This leads to the regular rise and fall of sea levels in coastal areas.
Ecosystem Effects: Tides influence the life cycles of marine organisms and coastal ecosystems. Many fish and shellfish species rely on tides for their breeding and feeding processes.
Earth's Rotation: The Moon's gravity gradually slows down Earth's rotation. Over time, this results in slightly longer days.
Coastal Erosion and Sediment Transport: Tides play a crucial role in shaping coastlines and transporting sediments. This affects the natural structure of coastal areas.
The Moon's tidal forces are vital to both environmental and geological processes on Earth.

Tides
The gravitational pull of the moon and sun, like magnets, affects the sea level. In Minecraft, the moon remains constant, so there's no change in the sea level. However, I wonder if the exposure of the heart of the ocean would make a difference.

archie and kyogre are obviously an iconic duo, but I thought of another legendary pokemon that fits him: lunala! I'm not just saying this because it's my favorite legendary, but considering the links with the moons and the oceans (with tides and stuff), I feel like lunala would be great with him!
Omg ur right!! The ocean is very affected by the moon because of its gravitational pull affecting the tides, great observation! And there's a lot of folklore/stories about the moon and sea too 🥺
Imagine sygna suit archie with lunala...
#i wonder what corresponds to maxie then#solgaleo isn't exactly connected to land#unless you draw connection between land=earth-sun but that's a stretch#asks#pokemon#archie

Goodbye to the moon
I was the sun and you were the moon,
I was in pursuit to reach for you
but the more I ran after you
the further we are from each other.
So I’ll leave you where you belonged,
be in your own space to shine with the stars
and just admire you from there
let you shine your light from there.
You brought light to the darkness in my heart
but then as beautiful and admirable as you are,
no matter how much I aim for you
you’re just so distant and unreachable.
Just like the moon affects the tide of the oceans,
you have power over the highs and lows of my emotions.
Like the moon exerts gravitational forces,
you are so far away, yet your energy reaches through me, pulling me towards the very center of your heart.
-Roxanne

i'm proud i understood all the words you used without having to look them up lol the childhood obsession pays of.
thank you very much for the facts, i loved hearing them, especially about black holes!! in my opinion, they're one of the most interesting things in space :D i also really love wormholes and i hope we'll get to know if they actually exist one day lol
and please, tell me more about titan!! personally, my favorite moon is callisto, might be a bit basic but it's just so pretty.
anyway, enough space rambles from me, now it's your turn again :D
I’m glad you liked my space facts :D
omg black holes are sooooo cool!!!! asjlcjsjsvwlbskwvsjs they’re actually one of my favorite celestial objects (I think I’m just biased towards stars in all of their phases lol). Probably one of the reasons why interstellar is one of my favorite movies.
wormholes are also super cool to think about!! I hope that, even if it turns out they don’t exist naturally occurring in space, that’d it be possible to make an artificial wormhole. Arguably, it would be even more significant to find out they exist by finding an artificially made one vs a naturally occurring one bc that would mean someone had to have built it, but I digress. I think it’d just be cool to know if they can exist at all.
Callisto’s a really cool moon!! I love everything abt space so much! I don’t think you could find smth out there that’d I’d dislike lol.
As for Titan, there are a few really cool things about it. For one, if there’s any other life in the solar system that’s not on Earth, it’d most likely be either on Ganymede or Titan. (Which, I think the chances of alien life in our solar system are pretty low astronomically speaking, but it’s not impossible and I think that’s amazing!!)
Titan is the only known place in our solar system other than Earth to have liquid on it’s surface!! Which is so cool!!!! Because we know Mars, for example, used to have liquid oceans, but it doesn’t anymore. And, we know that all known life in the universe (aka life on Earth) started in the ocean. Titan has lakes and rivers (not so much oceans), but that’s still so cool!!However, Titan’s surface liquid is not made of water. It’s liquid methane which I think is sick. Like, stepping away from astrobiology for a moment and looking more at astrochemistry, the fact that Titan has liquid methane on it’s surface, and it rains liquid methane is so cool to me.
I just think Titan is neat, and NASA has some fun missions planned for sending rovers out to Titan to collect samples, so I highly suggest looking at that if it’s smth that would interest you :3
Quick note about Ganymede (one of Jupiter’s four major moons, which are the moons Galileo saw centuries ago through a telescope)!! There are most likely oceans on Ganymede. Not on the surface, but there nonetheless. The thing about Ganymede is that it’s all ice. However, the gravitational pull from Jupiter affects its moons in the same way that our moon affects the tides. It’s causing movement and friction inside the planets (which is why Io, another one of Jupiter’s moons, is so volcanically active—Io’s another fun moon to talk abt, but I think this post is getting long enough).
So, this gravitational means that there are most likely liquid oceans about 150 kilometers under the surface ice on Ganymede. It is possible that it could just be slush, but it’s most likely liquid. Which is so cool!!! Because life on Earth started in the oceans!!!!! And this means there could be life on Ganymede. Especially because there’s evidence that it’s a water ocean! Specifically a salt water ocean!!!! Oh! Another thing! The ocean on Ganymede would be at least 3 times larger than all of the water on Earth’s surface. Like, this would be a massive ocean. Which means if there was life, it would have the potential to get incredibly large.
Ganymede is also the only satellite/moon in the solar system to have its own magnetic field!!! Overall an incredibly interesting place in our solar system.
Anyway, I’m gonna wrap up here. Sky, there is never too much space rambling, so please ramble about space as much as you want!!!! :)
#thank you so much for these asks sky <3#space is one of my favorite things to talk abt it makes me so happy#astronomy#space#stella answers#sky cdreambur

Ateez's Full Storyline Explained
Masterlist
UPDATE TO THE HALAZIA POST:
I realized I never actually added my take on the name "Halazia" so here is the excerpt of the new section I just added to the OG post:
First: the name "Halazia" - it's just a combination of "Hala" from Hala Hala (which can be translated from Sanskrit to 'black mass' or 'time puzzle') and "zia" which refers to the sun -> "Be the light, oh Halazia"
looking it up, you'll find some information about the Pueblo of Zia where a very specific symbol has been used for hundreds of years among the indiginous people to represent the sun that looks like this:
You'll now also find this symbol on the flag of New Mexico but the actual indiginous people whose ancestors created and passed it down didn't consent to this and now there's a lot of (very justified) debate regarding intellectual property - this part has nothing to do with the Ateez lore, I just thought it was interesting and important to share in case anyone was thinking of getting this symbol tattooed or sth
Addressing the responses to the Halazia post:
Side-note: lmao I just got to the last reply and realized I did them from the bottom up for some reason - I'm so dumb sometimes...
Important parts/new theories are in green!
I have seen footage of the concerts where they're raising a fake moon inside the concert venues so I definitely do get where you're coming from! It would also give a nice contrast between Halazia/the sun and this orb/the moon but I can't think of a way to fit this into the general storyline.
I don't think the orb is necessarily actually an artificial moon since I wouldn't be able to explain why someone would want to create that. I mean, the only reason the moon affects the oceans is due to its general gravitational pull and water just so happens to be partially made up of Hydrogen which only has one electron and is thus more lightweight than our Carbon rich land masses so the moon's influence on the oceans is just more noticable, yada yada
What I mean by that is that raising a fake moon from within a building would really only put a ball with its own field of gravity up into the sky. Other than that, it wouldn't really help the central government control the masses or anything.
However, I do think maybe the idea is to completely put the city under a giant sunshield and disguise what is actually a giant transmitter for their propaganda-spiel as the moon, thus creating an eternal night for the masses. It would certainly be a big "fuck you" to the revolutionists who took down the previous window coverings to return sunlight to the people. And it would also make it far harder for them to hijack the transmission again.
I don't think the Black Pirates have died - we know they were working with Ateez last we've seen them, however, it currently only seems to be Ateez who are performing in the streets while the Black Pirates stick to working from inside the underground hideout. But to the population, it should be the same difference since they look identical and perform the same function.
It's also not just Wooyoung who burnt their clothes - the entire group did:
Because of that, I still think these guys might just feel abandoned, betrayed or disillusioned by the Black Pirates somehow and that this is their way of saying "Fuck you and your movement - we're doing our own thing now."
Hongjoong specifically said we'll understand the theme of "Thunder" come The World Episode 2 which will be released this year so I guess I'll be waiting for the Diary version of that album before I think about it too hard.
But I mean, we already know how Ateez and the Black Pirates can travel between dimensions. They use the Cromer - an ancient Mayan relic containing very unique energy that's been used for this exact purpose for centuries. In general, scientists already have theories about how time travel could be possible so it's not exactly an unnatural concept - it goes more into the realm of science fiction right now.
Since Hongjoong also specifically corrected the question from "Lightning" to "Thunder", we can't really draw parallels to Frankenstein as the Monster was specifically brought to life with the electricity of a lightning strike. The book also goes more into the depths of philosophy about what it means to be human, the ethics of science, the dangers of self-gratification and ignorance and such so I don't necessarily think I can reference it for my theorizing - at least not at this point in the story.
I can see that being the case since we know they're clearly highly aware of the Black Pirates' existence.
Though it could also be Mingi talking to himself since he's no longer being controlled by the chip and finally able to figure out who he himself is.
Either way, the line "Where do I stand among the next and future generations" really strikes a chord, doesn't it? It's a really weighted question.
There was certainly a hunt going on for the Black Pirates, yes. And I can definitely see the Central Government pulling a Vlad the Impaler to scare off others.
While I still don't think the Black Pirates have died, they did get captured for a while and I could see the government plastering that everywhere to show they can squash any attempts at a rebellion. In which case any newly awakened civilians who found signs of this and saw Ateez would either assume the Black Pirates have escaped, the government had lied about imprisoning them in the first place or they have been replaced by identical lookalikes.
It would really help if we knew more about who this group is since I'm still stuck between "they're regular civilians" and "they're from another dimension" or even "they're some failed attempts at creating Android Guardians".
The main reason why I think they might not be human is these moments in the MV:
This glow/sheen in Jongho's iris looks like it was added in post-production in two separate shots at different parts of the video so there must be some meaning to it.
Seonghwa is glitching and I think the reason for that could be any of the following:
he's a hologram in this shot
he's somehow experiencing some Into the Spider-Verse side-effects from traveling between dimensions. However, if that were the case, we'd have seen Ateez deal with the same thing. That is, unless these guys used a different method of travel or have lived in this universe for far longer and side-effects only become noticable later.
this dimension is starting to reject them as there are now three alternate versions of the same eight people moving around in it
the anti-gravity orb can detect dimension-travelers and its purpose is to send them back or otherwise eliminate them
The orb disappeared as it struck San at the end as if his existence somehow cancelled out the orb's. Though this is very likely to be a creative decision since no one wants to see this human embodiment of sunshine get crushed to death, it could also be that this group of people has some abilities that go beyond a regular human's.
In conclusion: I really hope we get to see more of these guys - be that in the Diary Version of a future album or in another music video.

Astrology and Gardening: Planting by the Moon
Introduction
Planting by the Moon is based on the idea that different lunar phases affect plant growth in various ways. Each of the four major Moon phases—New Moon, Waxing Moon, Full Moon, and Waning Moon—provides a unique energy that can be harnessed for specific gardening tasks. The gravitational pull of the Moon not only affects the oceans but also influences water movement in the earth, meaning that the moisture levels in the soil and plants are highest during certain phases.
Astrologers have long believed that the Moon also carries an energetic influence based on its position in the zodiac. This combination of lunar phases and the Moon’s astrological sign is said to give gardeners an advantage when it comes to sowing, planting, fertilizing, and pruning. Let’s look at how you can incorporate these cycles into your gardening practice.

Gardening by the Lunar Phases
New Moon (Start of the Waxing Phase):
The New Moon marks the beginning of the lunar cycle, and it is the best time to plant crops that bear fruit above the ground. During this phase, the soil retains more moisture, which encourages seeds to swell and sprout. Crops like lettuce, spinach, and beans benefit from being planted during the New Moon. It's also a great time to start new projects, including gardens.
Waxing Moon (First Quarter to Full Moon):
As the Moon waxes, or grows toward fullness, its energy encourages strong leaf growth. Plants with leafy tops, such as cabbage, herbs, and broccoli, thrive when planted during this phase. The waxing Moon is also an excellent time for transplanting seedlings because plants take root more easily when the lunar energy is rising.

Full Moon:
The Full Moon is a period of peak energy and is perfect for harvesting crops. It’s also a good time to fertilize your garden, as plants absorb nutrients more efficiently during this phase. This is also the phase when pruning is most beneficial for trees and shrubs, as it promotes healthy growth.
Waning Moon (Last Quarter to New Moon):
After the Full Moon, as the lunar energy wanes, it is time to focus on below-ground crops like carrots, potatoes, and beets. This phase is ideal for root crops because the gravitational pull of the Moon draws energy downward, encouraging strong root development. The waning Moon is also a good time for weeding, as plants are less likely to regrow during this phase.
The Moon in the Zodiac
Beyond the phases, the Moon's position in the zodiac plays a role in lunar gardening. When the Moon passes through certain signs, it enhances specific gardening activities:
Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): Best for planting and nurturing, especially for water-loving plants.
Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn): Ideal for planting root crops, transplanting, and tending to the soil.
Fire signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): Focus on harvesting and controlling pests.
Air signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): Good for pruning and weeding.
Conclusion
Planting by the Moon is a time-honored tradition that combines astrology’s wisdom with the natural cycles of the Earth. By aligning your gardening tasks with the Moon’s phases and its journey through the zodiac, you can promote better plant health, growth, and abundance. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just beginning, lunar gardening can deepen your connection to nature and bring you closer to the rhythms of the universe. So next time you pick up your gardening tools, take a glance at the Moon—it might just guide you to a more flourishing garden!

What are the Applications and Limitations of Newton’s Law of Gravitation?
Gravitational force is the attractive force that exists between any two objects with mass. Whether it’s the moon orbiting the Earth or a pen lying on a table, gravitational force is at work. The force depends on two factors: the mass of the objects and the distance between them. Simply put, the more massive an object, the stronger its gravitational pull. The farther apart two objects are, the weaker the pull becomes.
Gravitational force plays a vital role in keeping celestial bodies in motion. It is the force that binds galaxies, causes planets to orbit stars, and pulls objects toward the Earth. The force of gravity ensures that we remain grounded on the Earth’s surface.
Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation
Sir Isaac Newton, in the 17th century, formulated a groundbreaking theory known as Newton’s law of universal gravitation. According to this law, every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This was a major milestone in the history of gravitational theory as it applied universally, from objects on Earth to distant stars and planets.
In simpler terms, Newton’s law explains that the gravitational force between two bodies becomes stronger as their masses increase and weaker as they move farther apart. This concept revolutionized our understanding of gravity and became the foundation of classical mechanics.
Factors Affecting Gravitational Force
Two key factors affect gravitational force:
Mass of the objects: The greater the mass, the stronger the gravitational pull.
Distance between objects: The farther apart two objects are, the weaker the gravitational attraction.
Interestingly, the gravitational force between two small objects is practically unnoticeable. However, when large celestial bodies like planets are involved, this force becomes significant. That’s why we feel the Earth’s gravity much more strongly than we do that of a nearby object, such as a book.
Applications of Newton’s Law of Gravitation
The importance of Newton’s law of gravitation cannot be overstated. It has wide-ranging applications in science and everyday life:
Orbital Mechanics: Newton’s law explains how planets orbit the Sun, how moons orbit planets, and how artificial satellites stay in orbit around the Earth.
Tidal Forces: The gravitational attraction between the Earth and the Moon causes ocean tides. Newton’s law helps explain this phenomenon by calculating the force between celestial bodies.
Engineering and Construction: Gravitational force calculations are crucial in the construction of bridges, towers, and other large structures to ensure they are stable and safe.
Astronomy: From calculating the orbits of stars to predicting the motion of galaxies, Newton’s law provides the backbone of modern astronomy.
These applications of gravity formula help us not only understand the natural world but also innovate in fields like engineering, technology, and space exploration.
Limitations of Newton’s Law of Gravitation
While Newton’s law of gravitation revolutionized our understanding of gravity, it is not without its limitations:
Accuracy at High Speeds and Large Distances: Newton’s law does not hold in scenarios involving very high speeds or massive gravitational fields, such as black holes.
General Relativity: Einstein’s theory of relativity has refined our understanding of gravity, particularly at the extremes of the universe, where Newton’s law falls short.
Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity and Gravitation
Albert Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity, proposed in the early 20th century, offered a new perspective on gravity. According to Einstein, gravity is not a force in the traditional sense, but rather the result of the curvature of spacetime caused by massive objects. In this view, objects follow curved paths in spacetime due to the presence of mass.
Einstein’s theory has been tested and proven in many situations, including the bending of light around stars and the precise movement of planets. It provides a more comprehensive explanation of gravitation, especially in extreme conditions like those near black holes.
Gravitation is a fundamental force of nature, governing everything from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies. The concept of gravitational force and Newton’s law of gravitation laid the foundation for classical physics, enabling us to understand the movements of celestial bodies and the forces acting on objects here on Earth. Though Newton’s law has its limitations, it remains an essential tool in modern science, guiding everything from space exploration to structural engineering. And as we continue to push the boundaries of our understanding with theories like Einstein’s, gravity remains one of the most awe-inspiring forces in the universe.

Coastal storm and King Tides create hazardous beach conditions and flooding along the Eastern Seaboard.
At least two abandoned homes along North Carolina’s Cape Hatteras National Seashore have collapsed into the ocean due to strong winds, high waves, and rising tides. In Massachusetts, on Cape Cod, authorities rescued a boater after a 35-foot sailboat broke free from its mooring and crashed onto a local beach.
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 32603 - Gainesville FL
The combination of King Tides, a storm system off the Northeast, a strong onshore flow, and the remnants of Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight are creating significant coastal challenges from New England to Florida, with effects expected to persist into the first week of astronomical fall.
National Weather Service offices in the area have issued numerous alerts affecting over 50 million people, warning coastal residents, boaters, and beachgoers about the potential threats and impacts.
Tidal flooding is anticipated in the nation's capital through early Tuesday along the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., and Alexandria, Virginia. A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the mid-Atlantic region, where tides are projected to rise up to 2 feet above normal.

Waves Claim More Homes on North Carolina Coast
Rough surf conditions have led to significant damage along the East Coast, with boats tossed from their moorings in Massachusetts, at least two homes collapsing in North Carolina, submerged roadways in the Carolinas, and one swimmer reported missing at Jacksonville Beach, Florida.
"The northeast flow, combined with the effects of the Harvest Moon, has caused havoc for parts of the East Coast from Downeast Maine to Florida," stated the NWS office in Boston.
The affected area includes abandoned homes near Cape Hatteras National Seashore, where two structures fell into the ocean within 24 hours. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, but debris in the water has rendered the beach off-limits to swimmers.
"Due to potentially dangerous debris in the water and along the beach north and south of the collapse site, temporary beach closures may be necessary for public safety. National Park Service staff will be on-site today to help move debris above the high tide line," the National Park Service reported.
Since 2020, at least nine homes in the area have collapsed as storms and natural processes continue to reclaim the beach.
In Pawleys Island, South Carolina, significant flooding during high tides prompted authorities to advise visitors to temporarily avoid certain roadways.
youtube
“It’s a beautiful day here on Pawleys Island! However, we urge all visitors to exercise caution during today’s high tide. We are experiencing a King Tide cycle, which has caused flooding on many roadways this week. Please be aware that this tidal water is not ideal for your vehicle. If you must drive through a flooded area, proceed very slowly to minimize impacts to surrounding areas,” the town posted on Facebook.
Heightened water levels and rough seas are expected to persist as storm systems move through the Atlantic and the Moon approaches perigee, its closest point to Earth. This increased gravitational pull results in higher-than-normal water levels, known as King Tides.
Two Supermoon cycles remain this year: the Hunter’s Moon in October and the Beaver Moon on November 15.
The FOX Forecast Center predicts that over the next two months, beaches and coastal communities—particularly along the Eastern Seaboard—will continue to face intermittent challenges from high tides, including flooding, erosion, and an increased risk of rip currents.
Rip current dangers are expected to remain high on Sunday for beaches from Jacksonville, Florida, to North Carolina and New York.

June fishing Calendar
i personally have being using the method and find it to be 100%, so i am sharing this way of catching fish. Have a beautiful day from Gardening with kirk
For thousands of years, cultures worldwide have harnessed the moon cycle calendar for fishing, understanding its profound influence on marine life. Ancient civilizations, from Polynesians to Native Americans, noted that lunar phases affect ocean tides and fish behavior. The moon’s gravitational pull generates tidal currents, which in turn impact feeding patterns and migration routes of various…
