💐 " Sonia-chan, was it? I heard you are dating my son. As such, I'm interested to know how things are progressing between you two. Have you started discussing marriage yet? Do you have any plans together after graduation? More importantly, is he expected to be king of your country? If at all possible, I would like to make the proper, necessary adjustments so I could continue remaining by his side and tending to his needs long after he stops attending Hope's Peak. Sonia sat for a moment, simply staring at the message upon the screen. Since their faux-date to Sea Paradaiso, Sonia had assumed Kensuke’s mother to be graceful in all walks of life, not simply on the stage. But her words proved otherwise. She was brave, certainly, to insinuate such a future not only with their relationship being so new but addressing the Princess of Novoselic with such requests.
But to be fair, Sonia was not unfamiliar with meddling mothers. Queen Valentina of Novoselic was the gentle, secretive force behind her husband, the ruling king of one of the world’s last absolute monarchies. While her husband handled all affairs of state, it was Valentina’s duty to see to charities, memorials, holidays, events, and orchestrating the duties of the rest of the extended Royal Family, including her own daughter. It had been her mother’s request for background information first on Sonia’s classmates, and then anyone she spent considerable time with in Japan otherwise. To say that the Novoselic Royal Family had performed a background check on Kensuke’s family had been an understatement. Sonia had sequestered herself on the cruise around Sea Paradaiso that fateful day when she’d received word that, based on a photograph taken of their apparent liaison, the Queen had insisted on launching an immediate investigation while insisting no official word regarding Princess Sonia’s extracurriculars would be released by Novoselic Castle until further approval from the King, Queen, and PR staff.
Taking a deep breath behind her tablet, Sonia smiled before beginning to write. At least she could exude optimism on her end, even if Kensuke’s mother seemed to be trying to intimidate her.
“Hibiki-sama, it is a pleasure to meet you in this format, though I do wish we may have first conversed in person. It is only proper to do so. Hibiki-san do enjoy each other’s company as we have become close while at Hope’s Peak Academy. It is the policy of Novoselic Castle not to provide commentary regarding the friendships and relationships of the Royal Family unless released in an official statement. In terms of the line of succession in Novoselic, those who marry a monarch are often bestowed titles by the monarch themselves or by their King or Queen, if their parent is alive and they currently hold the rank of Prince or Princess. In the past, women marrying the King or future King are given the title of Duchess or Queen Consort. As there has not been a female monarch in 500 years, no official decision has been made regarding my future betrothed. Possibilities include titles of Duke or Prince Consort, though the final decision will come from myself, the Royal Council, and my father, if he is in power at the time of my marriage.”
Sonia thought it best not to explain further, at least in such an informal method as a website. If their relationship did progress to such an intimate bond, Kazuna could try to follow her son to Novoselic, but the Council, her parents, and the country’s security teams would certainly object. In the long run, Sonia worried far more about her own family, professional relationships, and personal acquaintances by means of aristocracy and newfound wealth than Kensuke’s mother. Her parents and country alike adored the Princess, but the same sort of love did not necessarily apply to each other.
