❝This Sesshomaru has fared well. Some outcasts have been taken for the sake of this experiment.❞
The Daiyoukai nods his head and the twin-headed dragon steed approaches Shishiwakamaru to allow him to board its back so it could follow alongside Sesshomaru. The imp takes to clinging onto Sesshomaru’s fur and they take to the skies.
“Which is to say that any outlandish humans who were ousted by their own kind were prime targets. Those who dared to speak to Mi’lord instead of groveling at his feet aren’t fit for life.”
It was what modern day humans would later term ‘natural selection’. IF they couldn’t understand when they were severely outclassed, they weren’t meant to pass on their faulty cognitive skills to their offspring.
Sesshomaru lead them to an open clearing where a couple of humans were tied up. “There are more humans that were prepared. They are currently housed elsewhere,” Jaken explains. Would be a shame if all the humans within the area were to perish and render their experiment a short one. There were many things to look into, after all.

❝Perhaps starting with allowing the souls to be consumed first should be a worthwhile endeavor. It would be fascinating to see if the Tenseiga can revive a body without its soul.❞

✧ Riding atop someone's fur sounded rather unseemly. Both of them taking great pride in their appearance. The meeting they planned, this meeting, it wasn't for anything but a curiosity between the two of them. And his sword was ready to be drawn.
"Oh I have been quite well and I hope you have also been well since last time we spoke."
He looked down at Jaken. "What's more you should clear the area shouldn't you?" Poor thing. Truly, did that imp have no energy to make a human form such as himself? Was he not trying is best to get stronger or was he just shadowing someone much stronger than him like a leech. He almost felt bad.
A sword that could heal vs a sword that stole the soul of anyone too weak to resist it, which one would prevail over whatever victim they found. "I would be honored to ride with you, Lord Sesshomaru. Your fur is too nice to be stepped on." And while he did pride himself on how clean and neat he was, he'd offer this well deserved compliment toward the demon.

✧  “That doesn’t surprise me, you carry yourself with such…. “  There were words he could use but he was really too stunned. This Sesshomaru was something to behold.  If only he saw more demons that looked as such more often, why he wouldn’t ever leave the demon world at all. The imp cared little for his differences with other demons.
“About me? Why thank you, i work hard to maintain this perfect form~”  Shishiwakamaru smiled at him. It took a lot of energy to keep the form and he was still such a good fighter as well- he was impressive and he wasn’t afraid to say that either.
Tumblr media
✧  “Green skin…? I’ve never heard of an imp with such skin..” How unsightly indeed.  “Ah but I see you carry a sword, surely it’s as impressive as you are? I also have a sword.  We are both in beauty and strength it would seem.”
Tumblr media
Many a time had Sesshomaru left people breathless, both in the literal and figurative sense. Though loathe as he may seem in connecting with others, he was surprisingly quite open to the idea should their company be the very minimum: not irksome.
At the mentioning of his sword, his vision casts to the side at his two blades. One, bequeathed to him, and one forged from himself.
❝The one, Tenseiga is a memento of this Sesshomaru’s Father. It has the power to revive 100 fallen soldiers in a single swing.❞
It’s might in saving lives was like Tessaiga’s might in taking lives with a single swing. While he still felt the blade was useless at best (as it held very little in the ways of protecting the living), it was useful in rare instances.
❝Bakusaiga, was forged from myself. Quite the destructive sword, this one. It disintegrates whoever it cuts, nullifying regenerative abilities, making it quite useful for culling rats.❞
Of course, Naraku and his many incarnations being the supposed ‘rats’.
❝Might your blade also have a name to share?❞

At the appointed time, Sesshomaru had arrived with Jaken in tow riding atop a twin-headed dragon steed. The had descended from the skies. “Greetings again, we have prepared the necessary materials for the experiment elsewhere. If you would, riding atop of A-un here, we can traverse to the testing site.” Jaken hops off the steeds back before he walks next to his Lord’s side.
“The other option would be to ride atop Mi’lord’s fur.” It didn’t offer much of a regal nor aesthetic image. Jaken had the impression that Shishiwakamaru cared much for appearances, so riding atop a noble twin-headed dragon steed would much better suit his tastes than clinging onto Sesshomaru’s fur.
❝This Sesshomaru takes it that you’ve been well since we’ve last met.❞
That was the Daiyoukai’s casual but well-meant greeting. He could see that Shishiwakamaru didn’t loo much different from the last time, meaning that he hadn’t gotten into an altercation that left the other maimed nor disfigured- a common occurrence for the weaker Demons—not to imply that the latter was weak by any means.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ It was absolutely true that demons and humans had outcasts.
And so Shishiwakamaru would bide his time until he once again stood where they were supposed to meet up. His hand on the hilt of sword. this experiment might seem a bit unhinged for him but he decided it was so interesting.
The imp demon wondered just where his new.. acquaintance would take him for this as well. Admittedly he had gotten there early, showing up before the other one. Part of him felt bad for that little imp he met, stuck in that unsightly form and unable to weasel out of this..
Too late though.
Remembering he had told his partner about what he was doing, he was scolded but decided to do it anyway. "Maybe.. I got here just a bit too early..." He would muse to a passing butterfly.

It’s been decided, and there was no longer any chance for Jaken to weasel his way out of this, as Sesshomaru was one to see things through once he accepts a plan. It wouldn’t behoove him to plan for arrangements and to simply not arrive as proposed.
❝Humans and Demons a like have castaways they would rather do away with, it shan’t be difficult.❞
On the topic of meeting elsewhere, Sesshomaru had an idea up in the skies where they could conduct their experiment, but it wasn’t a place he could bring a guest to without explicit permission from the owner of the domain.
❝We shall meet here at the appointed time, and then this Sesshomaru can escort us to an appropriate area up in the skies.❞
If they were to conduct experiments that could very well cull the locals, it would require him to give notice to his benevolent mother so she too could make any necessary arrangements to reduce the possible damage.
❝This Sesshomaru shall see you then.❞
With a courteous head nod, Sesshomaru takes to the skies to alert his mother first and foremost to gain her permission before looking for castaways to experiment with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "7 sunsets, it is settled then, I will meet you again then, in this very spot-" Shishiwakamaru agreed to this quite easily.
And while he couldn't say he felt bad for the small imp that was very much opposite of him, there was a bit of pity. Poor thing, forced to always look like that and live in fear of dying. He had pondered for a short time why the other couldn't produce a bigger form.
It took a lot of energy to maintain a human-like appearance.
"Simply taking one of their own castaways is a perfect plan, I hope you have nothing but good luck in finding what is needed for this little experiment.." While the imp demon could go with him, he had some other matters to attend to for himself as well.
This would give him time to do that. "Oh, if you do not wish to meet in this exact spot, do you know of a bigger open clearing we could possible meet at?"

Woe is the tiny green imp whose name is Jaken. He couldn’t help but feel perturbed by the conversation at hand, especially while knowing that his very life would be at risk. He’d already been revived through the use of Tenseiga once, so if he were to perish, that would be the end of a loyal retainer of Lord Sesshomaru.
❝Humans make it abundantly clear who they consider outcasts within their own society. Simply take one of their castaways and use them for our own use.❞
It was better to be useful to a Demon than to waste away shunned by your own kind, surely. For those who were to be put to death, they could simply help them expedite the process.
❝Jaken, surely you can be of use here.❞
“Y-yes mi’lord. I, your loyal servant can have it arranged.” The imp nervously retreats, in search of the twin headed dragon stead so they could fly off and get to completing the task assigned. Over time Sesshomaru had taken on more retainers, so it shouldn’t be that difficult to procure the ‘materials’.
❝What say you to meeting again after 7 sunsets to allow ample time to gather an sizable crowd of humans?❞
The larger the sample size, the more experiments that can be administered. It would be a shame to simply stop after one test, was it not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "An open plain sounds perfect, actually. Although I'm not sure how to lure anyone- do you have experience in doing that?" Shishiwakamaru had no interest in interfering with the petty battles that humans engaged in. That would be too easy, the sword would consume far too many souls.
The imp demon had no doubt that this lord would not fall victim to the banshee sword, he was far too strong. "Should we also pick a day, or is today suited enough for you?"
He was getting more excited about the idea. Feeling as though he didn't get to draw his weapon as often as he liked, it was quite a flashy weapon indeed. "I have no opinion on honor, one way or another." Humans and their honor, none of his business.
"And we also need to get that one..." He pointed at the shorter imp, whose name had already left his mind. "Out of the area."

Sesshomaru thought about it, moreso considering the logistics of how easy it would be to determine the effectiveness of his blade against Shishiwakamaru’s without any uncertainties. Morality was barely a thought in the Daiyoukai’s mind. At large, he still mostly thought of humans as useless aside from the select few that he deemed worthy of his consideration- which was still quite small in number.
As some would say, ‘baby steps,’ but as he would say that it was waste of his time to hold every living thing to the same pedestal. Prioritization was a useful life-skill.
Knowing that the blade could steal souls from a distance, the blade need not physically make contact with its victims to work, much like his own Tenseiga.
❝Perhaps finding an open plain and luring a victim would suffice. These times are turbulent for the humans, so interjecting between their fight would be convenient, but a mockery of their honor.❞
Though much weaker than he, he honored their bravado in fighting to the death. Not only that, it would be a mockery to his own roots to impede an army’s battle when his own Father was a general.
Then again, if both sides equally perished, did it matter the outcome of the battle? It may, but he could overlook it should any humans were to grate on his ears again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "Hm, let's hope he keeps a good distance up there then." Shishiwakamaru didn't want to accidentally his new friends ward, after all. The little imp wouldn't stand a chance against his sword after all.
Then there was the matter of finding a target to test their swords against each other on. It seemed cruel but to the both of them, this was nothing. "That might be a bit more troublesome, but we're both capable..."
Would the thing they take it out on, a human? A lower demon? Most likely a lower demon, they just had to find one in the area. "The second issue lies with.. it'll steal the soul of anyone weak in it's radius, so our target won't be the only victim."
Suppose, it would be a sacrifice many would have to endure, and suffer. Oh well if they were dead, they couldn't very well complain.

Sesshomaru’s line of vision takes to the skies above, wordlessly explaining that Jaken could bare witness the result of their curiosities if he took to the skies.
The mere imagery of Jaken being tossed to the skies drew a tiny chuckle from the Daiyoukai himself, which left Jaken feeling slighted (A normal occurrence).
❝Jaken can take to the skies with my steed.❞
Though he also had the ability to fly, there were times that riding atop a noble steed was beneficial, especially for imagery’s sake. Jaken and Rin have utilized A-un’s flying to take them out of harms way many a time.
Taking to the clouds would be fine for the imp as they’d certainly gone much further when visiting his venerable mother.
❝That can be arranged. The question now would be to find targets.❞
In these warring times of Japan, how difficult could it be to search for humans itching for bloodshed and death? It would be no issue for these Demons to offer a helping hand in expediting their deaths should things go wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ Shishiwakamaru hadn't expected them to not know what miles were. Maybe it was something he was taught that others weren't- how strange. "Ah it's a great distance but, wait what do you mean an aerial view?"
The imp was surprised, wide eyed, blinking.
"Do not tell me you intend to throw him into the sky- surely he would fall to his death?"
No, that didn't seem right. Did the other imp have a way to stay in the sky without falling? Shishi didn't see any wings on him. "Well how high up... I'd say nearing the clouds, just to be on the safer side. " Things could go very wrong if his sword acted too quickly and snatched away Jaken's soul.

Jaken swallows nervously and glances at his Lord, worried about the lethalness of Shishiwakamaru’s blade, while Sesshomaru was curiously wondering about what sort of metric was ‘miles’. He’d never heard of such a thing.
❝What distance is ‘miles’? This Sesshomaru hasn’t heard of such a metric.❞
He could only reason it must be a considerable distance away if he’d state Jaken could not observe from ‘miles away’.
❝Whatever the distance may be, does the same apply for an aerial view?❞
If those in the sky were safe from harm, then Jaken could observe from high in the sky. A-un was the ever loyal and useful twin-headed dragon steed. It was currently off searching for feed for itself, but it would come running should Sesshomaru summon it. At this point, Jaken would much rather take off with the steed to safety and await for his Lord’s eventual return.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ So the sword could only save someone once, that was also very interesting information. The speed at which both of them could draw their swords and activate them would determine everything.
Shishiwakamaru looked down at Jaken. "You would need to be several miles away to avoid the shriek." He explained with a nod. "It'd be in your best interest if we do this to find somewhere far away to hide..." It seemed he and the demon lord both were very curious about how the two swords would interact.
Of course he'd never found a person with a sword such as that, and he couldn't stop trying to figure out the possibilities. He knew Sesshomaru was too strong to fall victim to the banshee shriek sword so he wouldn't be in danger, who would they use this experiment on at their risk of death.
"Actually you might not be able to observe at all considering the distance the shriek can reach."

If the problem was speed-based, then Sesshomaru was quite confident in his speed of draw, but he wouldn’t know just how he stacks in comparison to the swordsman before him. Neither had seen the other’s swordsmanship to know who would win in a battle of speed.
Sesshomaru looks down at Jaken, to see the imp was already quite perturbed by the sword. “I-I’m a loyal retainer of mi’lord! How could I simply leave his side when he could possibly face danger?” Sesshomaru vaguely questions the validity of this considering he’d no problems with leaving his side when Naraku was involved. Though, he was normally given the task of keeping Rin safe.
❝You’ve already been revived once by Tenseiga. You wouldn’t be revived a second time.❞
He helpfully reminds Jaken that should anything go wrong, Jaken’s life was one that could not return. Jaken deflates some as he recalls that he and Rin both have been revived through the use of Tenseiga before, so their ‘extra life-line’ was already used up. “For the sake of serving by your side for a long time to come, I would observe from a safe distance away.”
The real issue would be finding an individual to test this theory on. Neither swordsman should reach out to a friend on the off chance the Tenseiga cannot revive them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "Perhaps, if it was faster than my sword.."
Shishiwakamaru had never seen such a thing happen, further more he'd never seen a sword that could heal instead of harm. It was a strange blade. For those willing to cause harm, it was practically useless in battle, wasn't it? But he wouldn't criticize something that wasn't his to begin with.
Lethal to the underworld? What a strange blade, it just kept getting more strange the more he learned about it. What kind of father would bequeath a sword like that to a son? It didn't matter, he'd never understand.
Eyes glanced down to the other imp, who seemed to be cowering for some reason. It would seem the banshee sword had intimidated the smaller imp- he hadn't meant to do that. "Apologies, if we do such a thing, we'll make sure you aren't in the area."
It wasn't like he was cruel enough to make another imp his experiment between two swords.

❝Perhaps the victims could be revived if the blade had yet to consume the soul in its entirety.❞
If it were a matter of timing, it would sound as though there would be some counter to the blade, but why would Sesshomaru bother to save the lives of the general masses that meant nothing to him? He may care if the target was the village that Rin had lived in, however. She’d already lived and died by her village being attacked before, orphaning her, so she didn’t need to have a repeat traumatic event.
Sesshomaru had glossed over the question about the teaching moment to instead focus on Tenseiga. Though it was unwise to disclose information about one’s abilities or gear, the Tenseiga was famous, so there was little point in withholding information about it.
❝Ah, this blade poses no harm to the living. This Sesshomaru could attempt to cut you down and you’d feel naught even a tickle. This blade, however, is lethal to the underworld. It revives the deceased by slashing the pallbearers who escort the dead to Hell.❞
Jaken who had been keeping quiet this entire time, hidden behind Sesshomaru’s leg, he felt indignant about him being considered ‘weak,’ but he shut his mouth in the face of the menacing sword. It was also quite embarrassing to be in the presence of another imp when their aesthetics were strikingly different. How unfair, Kami-sama.
❝Perhaps on another day the opportunity will present itself for demonstrations.❞
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "Thank you" The compliment about his blade was well received. "I"m not sure if that would be the case, as it traps the soul inside it and destroys it." As he understood it- he'd never seen anything that was able to retrieve the souls from the blade. Suzuki knew him well, to give him this sword, even if it did not match his typical aesthetic.
Sesshomaru's blades were also beautiful, and for one of them to be made by the demon himself, once again, incredible. To boast such an ability, such a devastating power- as elegant as the one who wielded it.
"A teaching moment?" While Shishiwakamaru had no idea, and no grasp of what he was talking about, he'd had his fair share of teaching moments. "I am glad you seem to have made peace with it, even if it heals instead of causing damage.." Honestly if he were in Sesshomaru's shoes, he would've forged a proper blade as well.
The imp demon smiled. "I'd love to demonstrate how my blade works but I worry for your...." Eyes glanced down at Jaken. "I'm not sure he'd be strong enough to withstand its' call."

Indeed, his swords did have impressive names fitting of their abilities. Only when he’d come to immense power and experience was he able to forge his own sword from himself, so Shishiwakamaru’s words weren’t erroneous. The Daiyoukai takes his words gracefully, not bothering to fake any humbling words, as no one could deny that Sesshomaru was indeed talented and possessing of immense power.
The sword of Shishiwakamaru’s was a beautiful blade. Perhaps grotesque by some standards, but from the sheer energy it possessed, it was a blade fit for one talented with the sword and open to the act of killing.
❝Your sword as well, is impressive. I wonder if Tenseiga could return the stolen souls. The sword does have the ability to revive the fallen.❞
An open-ended thought, with no real intent behind it. If those weak to the screech would have their soul stolen, thereby killing them, in theory the Tenseiga should be able to revive them. However, it would perhaps be dependent on what the sword does with the stolen souls. Does it eat them right away or does it simply house them for later usage?
❝Your partner understood what blade was suitable for your side. The Tenseiga was a gift from my honorable Father. At a point, I deemed he hadn’t understood me at all, but now, this Sesshomaru understands it was a teaching moment.❞
That said, Sesshomaru would still hold a grudge over the way that Toga had used him even after death for the sake of Inuyasha. While it wasn’t unheard of for siblings to aid each other, the way the siblings came to be left much to be desired for either party to form a ‘sibling bond’.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ "The tenseiga and the bakusaiga?" He inquired, repeating the names that they may remain in his memory. "Those are.. quite impressive!" Truthfully he'd only taken up the sword and fighting to attract a more male audience but he'd grown to really appreciate the art of it all. "You must be really talented to forge your own sword, with such immense power as well. "
Perhaps someday he'd have the honor of seeing such a sword being put to use against a foe. He didn't really know what to say about a sword that could heal, did that not defeat the purpose of a blade?
Tumblr media
✧ Shishiwakamaru lifted his sword out of it's sheath, it went from a normal looking sword to what it truly was. A twisted face , demonic energy. "Indeed it has a name, this is the banshee shriek sword. Those too weak to resist it's screech will have their soul stolen away." He explained. It could also do other things but that was it's main feature.
"My partner gave it to me, isn't he sweet~" The imp mused with a smile, sheathing the sword once again. It wasn't exactly a thing of beauty like himself but it was a gift and it was a powerful gift at that. He'd grown to be attached to the banshee sword and became quite skilled with it in the process.

✧  This wasn’t something he had anticipated. Such a huge and remarkable form! Truly, this person was not only beautiful but extremely powerful as well. A inu-youkai. He hadn’t seen one before but the first one he meet seemed to be so impressive, and he didn’t even compare next to him. The imp demon staggered back a bit, mostly in awe.  If his friends could see what he was seeing, he wondered what they would say.
Surely they’d be as amazed as he was. “You’re not just any demon are you..” There was no doubt about it, he held some kind of high rank or status. “How come I have never heard of you before.. how strange.”  If someone like this existed, would word not reach far into Makai? Then again, was this person even from Makai? Probably not.
Tumblr media
✧ “Incredible!”
Shishiwakamaru approached him. “It’s … I’m sorry I don’t have a lot of words for what I’m feeling right now. “
He cleared his throat. “You haven’t? Who is Jaken? I mean.. I am used to amazing people, not be amazed myself, you’re really something.”  Why were his hands shaking.
Tumblr media
Sesshomaru could see how stuck in awe Shishiwakamaru was by his true form. He himself could understand the marvel that was his real self, an exemplary specimen of beauty. His fur that could be seen in both humanoid and canine form were sources of pride for the Daiyoukai. His meticulously well-kept fur was a symbol of his high stature.
❝This Sesshomaru is something akin to nobility among the Demon kind.❞
His esteemed Mother was a high ranking Demonness who oversees a flying mansion and his respectable Father a General. Being the son of these two Demons, he was what you could consider pedigree, born from two great Demon dogs.
❝Same can be said about yourself. This Sesshomaru has never heard of you until today.❞
An imp who can transform into the guise of a beautiful human man? That certainly should be marvel enough for the humans to have spread the news by word of mouth at least. Though Sesshomaru was the Lord of the Western lands, it was understood by the Demon-folk, as he saw no need to assert governance over humanity. Even over Demonkind, he didn’t Lord over them in the sense that he was their leader. These were the lands that were under his protection and other powerful Demons would heed carefully before intruding his territory.
❝He is my loyal yet insolent retainer. A green skinned imp who normally follows around at my heel.❞

✧  There was a silence and then a pop noise, Shishiwakamaru reverting to his true from, a small imp demon with horns and wide eyes. “You’re speaking to an imp demon, naturally! I use a lot of energy maintaining my human form and appearance but I’m still a good fighter!” He replied. This guy had a good eye, knowing he wasn’t human right away.
But then demons were often very keen about those things, knowing when another isn’t human as well. The aura this guy gave off- it was powerful too. Some kind of dog maybe? He’d never met one before.
Then another pop noise and he reverted once again to his human form.
Tumblr media
✧ “Thank you - it is nice to find good company.”  Shishiwakamaru made a point to surround himself with capable individuals. Either in looks or strength, it felt like this Sesshomaru had both. “And you, you’re some kind of dog demon right? If I’m wrong please feel free to correct me.”
The fluff, that he could only assume was attached to him looked so elegant. The man looked very regal and held himself tall he could appreciate that. “I think you and I are going to get along wonderfully.”
Tumblr media
Fascinating. The other imps he knew were far different from Shishiwakamaru as they were green and not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The similarity Shishiwakamaru and Jaken had was in small stature. His green imp aide wasn’t weak by human standards, but most couldn’t be considered skilled when compared to the likes of Sesshomaru.
Jaken’s prowess was more suited for strategy or problem solving. He was also a professional in the realm of watching over children. Though mouthy, he was reliable. Seeing as how the other had revealed his true form, he’d be remiss to not return the favor. The process was far from beautiful as he was directly morphing his humanoid form into that of a canid, so it was needless to say that his face had seen better days during the transformation.
Tumblr media
The massive canine towers over all else around him. He shook his body to relieve some of the discomfort of returning to this form after so long before he returned to his humanoid form.
❝That we can. Can’t say I’ve seen an imp like you before. Jaken, my imp retainer would be amazed.❞
Perhaps jealous would be the better word. If he too could grow, he would no longer be mocked by Rin or the others. All that said, Myoga was the smallest of all his acquaintances, so Jaken could boast about that at least. However, bragging about being taller than a flea Demon did seem lackluster.

Sesshomaru was one to look at things objectively, and he understood by human standards, he was attractive. Strong features, tall, and noble. It was no fault of the humans to marvel at an excellent specimen such as himself when he compared himself to the lowly humans he’s come across during his travels.
Though, there were a number that were up to par, admittedly. A rare lot, however. This Sishiwakamaru held himself with poise and dignity, introducing himself before confirming Sesshomaru’s identity, showing his knowledge of etiquette.
Tumblr media
❝A pleasure to meet your acquaintance. This Sesshomaru can gauge you are no human, perhaps you are a demon? Will you enlighten me, Sesshomaru, Lord of the Western lands?❞
He properly introduced himself, curious about what exactly Shishiwakamaru was. He didn’t sport the same sorts of attributes Demons he knew sported. He seemed different, though Sesshomaru couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧  “Oh? Well thank you kindly for the compliment. And those many people were right. I also have quite a few people telling me that as well- it’s so refreshing to meet someone else who is also good looking and confident.”  Shishiwakamaru replied with a smile. This person seemed to be a dog demon of some kind, judging by the fluffy extension he had. A regal one at that. “My name is Shishiwakamaru, and I assume that yours is Sesshomaru? What a nice name.”
