Ok so I guess I didn't think Gon would be so absent in this arc. But I still enjoyed it. Seeing Gon and Killua go their separate ways was sad. But like in a good way. So, yes, it was bittersweet like everyone said it would be.

It seems like the codependent stage of their relationship is over. They are becoming independent. But that means they (aka I) need to grieve that codependency. They were super close and can't keep being that way. They need to be two separate people.

(If I see their relationship through a queer lens, it feels like Killua is queer and didn't realize he had such deep feelings for Gon. But Gon just has platonic feelings for Killua. Killua still loves Gon and wanted to save him but had to accept that they needed to go separate ways because Gon cannot reciprocate Killua's feelings the way Killua wants him to. Or maybe Gon just doesn't show his love for Killua in the same way/we aren't as privy to Gon's feelings as we are Killua's.)

It's so weird to be done with this series. I started in a month and a half ago and needed to finish it in that time before my sister's Hulu subscription ended (lol). So I was very focused on finishing it in this amount of time. I put a lot of thought into it and stayed focused while watching. It was so hard not to look at spoilers, but I'm glad I didn't so I could record my unbiased thoughts.

I've since looked up meta and analysis and it's very interesting to see what people think of Gon and Killua's relationship and where they think it'll go (if at all). I'll save my thoughts on that for another post. Until then, this silly lil anime is going to running around my head for a while.

I'm watching Hunter x Hunter for the first time and am almost done with season 1 and I really love it. Like Gon is such a ball of sunshine. He's really just like hey I'm gonna pass the Hunter test. I'm gonna see Killua. Even though I may not be able to do it now, I can. I will eventually. Small progess is still progress. And Kurapika and Leorio are like yep, exactly and we're here with you along the way. Idk it's just really beautiful.
