What things make you smile and all warm-fuzzy inside? CATS no seriously, i can have the worst day, but when i walk home and get to pet a cat on the way, i instantly better. i remember coming home after my last final exam all upset and a cat meowing at me and purring and wanting to cuddle with me and i couldn’t help but smile!
What things make you feel a bit sad (don’t push yourself to answer this one)? my current family situation, there’s a bit of drama and fights going on.
What things inspire you to grow? anything and everything, to be honest. there’s new things you experience and learn every single day. things you conquer and master just fine and mistakes you make and all of them shape you into knowing what to do next time a bit more.
The last song(s) that you couldn’t stop listening to? i can’t really think of anything right now, uhhhh, i’ve been listening to the trust me durarara!! ending lately again haha
5. Are you an introvert/extrovert/ambivert? What kind (are you a shy extrovert, super confident introvert, or perhaps a really confused ambivert :0)?: i’m an introvert through and through. i wouldn’t say i’m exceptionally shy nor super confident. i’m somewhere in between. it really depends, around my friends i’m outgoing and cheering and with certain strangers, especially if i know i have to talk with them for literally no longer than 3 minutes right now (i.e. a cashier or someone you walk past) then i’m polite and rather talkative. i just feel exhausted even after spending a lot of time with friends, though the time was enjoyable, but i need my alone time for sure.
What calms you down? the triangle breath! it’s my favorite method to use whenever i feel anxious, upset, angry, or just need to stop and pause for a few minutes. you picture a triangle in your mind (you can even trace it with your finger, or if you can draw it on a piece of paper). you take a breath in through your nose, tracing one side of the triangle. then you breathe out through your mouth, tracing the second and third side of it. other than that, listening to music, taking a nap, petting a cat, watching videos of cats or other cute stuff, sometimes playing a video game.
A character that you really relate to (perhaps you have similar personalities, or maybe you came from similar backgrounds)?: this is gonna sound trashy, but saeyoung choi from mystic messenger and there’s a story behind it too. my friends were playing it way before me and told me “there’s this character that looks just like you, you know nerd glasses, messy red hair, always wearing a baggy black hoodie. he even acts like you, making puns and using memes ALL THE TIME!” and it’s true lmao. also, kaneki ken to some extent? like i really resonate with his personality, the choices he makes, his thoughts speak to me, he’s pretty harsh on himself and goes through ways that are self destructive if he can help others with it.
One thing you love learning? language, it’s just fascinating to me.
Angst or fluff? ANGST, I AM THE ANGST QUEEN, COME ON
If you punch yourself, does that mean you’re strong or does that mean you’re weak? neither and a little bit of both at the same time. let’s go deep in on this one and take the “punch” as emotional self loathing. bashing yourself down definitely doesn’t mean you’re strong, it doesn’t make you tough at all, it only means you’re harsh on yourself. it doesn’t make you weak either. you’re making yourself believe you are weak, but the fact that you endure that and still have the power to do so, means you’re tougher than you’re think.
MY QUESTIONS:
Now that spring’s here, what’s your favorite thing about this season and what do you not like about it?
What’s your spirit animal? Literally. Which animal do you think resembles your inner self and why? (maybe your Patronus, if you know it?
What’s your go-to order at a café?
Do you consider yourself to be creative?
If you could go back in time and change something, would you? If so, what? If not, why?
Where do you see yourself in 20 years from now?
Home sweet home, what makes you feel comfortable in your own home? What’s the overall aesthetic of your room, any colors, textures, an atmosphere, do you maybe keep many stuffed animals or posters or plants?
What do you think is most important when it comes to friendship?
What’s something you improved in since last year?
Werewolves or Vampires, which are cooler?

E3 2017: A Personal Summary
So all of the E3 press conferences are dead and gone. And well... It was OK. Nothing particularly, groundbreaking, but enough to get me mildly excited for what’s new for gaming.
So I figured to go through my personal positives and negatives of E3, announcements, updates, anything. We’ll start off with the good, and end with the bad.
The Good:
Despite my initially cynical view of the expected showings in almost all of the press showings, I actually had a lot of positives. We’ll start of with my biggest positives and work down. So if you’ll excuse me...
MONSTER HUNTER WORLD IS RAD AND I WANT IT NOW
But seriously, Monster Hunter World is the sort of evolution I wanted from my beloved series. The grappling hook (or whatever that was) looks like a surprisingly interesting addition. Also the environmental interactions was a surprise. Coming from a series that featured very little interaction with the environment, including such a drastic change is a big possible draw to new fans.
Now that we’ve moved from my biggest game of the E3, we can quickly rush through some minor positives. Starting with the new Legend of Zelda DLC, as someone who doesn’t own a Switch or the Wii U copy of BOTW, I do think that this DLC could be a big addition, but I don’t know enough to really put my bet on it bringing any major changes. The other biggest draw from Nintendo was, surprising everyone, a new Metroid Prime I am interested, but I will save any opinions for when it is actually shown game-play wise. Similar to LOZ, the new God of War looks great, if only from a appearance perspective, I’m not a big fan of the series (a little too bloody, even for me) I can appreciate it not tonign anything down. Another Shadow of the Colossus remaster after the PS3′s supposedly dodgy port is fantastic (and riding a horse like a skateboard gives it potential comedy, for a game so dreary). The new DBZ fighter from Arc System gives me good vibes, as Guilty Gear is a favourite of mine in the fighting game genre and DBZ really needed a good 2D fighter. Wolfenstein 2 being announced was possibly my one good point from the Bethesda conference (because we really needed more Skyrim, we’ll get to that) KH3 getting a trailer was appreciated, giving a closer look into the combat system, and Hercules's world (and the plot, what is the black box Malificent is talking about?) and finally, the biggest surprise for everyone, Beyond Good and Evil being announced with a cinematic trailer. The trailer was fun, but having not played the first, I might have to read up before I buy this sequel.
Well that was the good. A decent amount of exciting stuff. But sadly, not all of it is particularly great. Let’s get to the bad.
SKYRIM, SKYRIM. SKYRIM ON SWITCH, SKYRIM ON XBOX, SKYRIM VR, SKYRIM ON MY TOASTER. TOO MUCH SKYRIM. Aside from that oversaturation of a game that I won’t name, E3 wasn’t a playground of greatness. David Cage was there, great I guess (not really) Fallout 4 on VR, wasn’t exactly a desired product, nobody was throwing themselves at Bethesda’s door to have VR for anything (Doom, why?) FF15 Fishing (no) The New Assassin's Creed (please no more) Rabbids (AAAAAGH) and finally, the biggest kick in the pants, PAID MODS. What the fuck. Why. Nobody is going to buy mods for a 6 year old game. No.
ANYway, E3 did manage to bring out a few good things, so hopefully nothing will absolutely crash and burn. (PLEASE BE GOOD MHW, I NEED THIS)
Hopefully next years E3 will be just as (or more, luckily) alright as this year.

Thoughts so far on Breath of the Wild.
So having played the game for the past few days, and since I have both versions of it, I decided to take down my thoughts I had whilst playing them, and of course put them in one handy little post at a time per area (rather than one thought at once; for convenience). Admittedly, I did spoil a few things ahead of time, so my interpretation of events is a little different here, and of course, this’ll contain a ton of spoilers for both this area and things ahead of the plot.
In this, and future posts, thoughts are gonna be indicated by this handy little picture of River Song for any spoilerific elements before the read more, so y’all can avoid them at your own will, and also will be tagged as #botwspoilers for your own backlisting needs.
With that out of the way, and, of course, spoilers ahoy, let’s take a journey to the ruined land of BotW!
(These thoughts are also going to be arranged in bullet points to make my life that much easier; as well as by game version.)
Wii U:
Aside from the first hurdle of disk space issues and updating, the beginning almost seems to throw you in like a good movie. Gameplay-wise, it seems like a refresh of typical LoZ elements. If HW was an example of sucessfully fusing LoZ with hack-and-slash action, BotW is taking the open-world elements of Dark Souls and Metal Gear Solid 3, and throwing them out the window to make their own (truly amazing) game.
The game itself is a lot like MGS3, with the foraging elements and emphasis on survival. Hopefully I won’t suck so bad at if/any stealth elements like there tho, haha.
There’s also, personally, a lot of Doctor Who vibes for me (series 4-9). The beginning especially gives vibes of Heaven Sent, since we have a Link who’s suddenly woken up with no memory of what happened and why he’s and what he has to do, and in terms of emotional storytelling, they’re quite similar, with a mystery to solve and the emotional pains Link and Zelda endure.
The Great Plateau, as the “birthplace of Hyrule”, and the existence of the Statue of Hylia in the Temple of Time link it back to the ending of Skyward Sword, as well as the Old Man saying it was used for ceremonies; which might mean the Royal Family of Hyrule could’ve followed some of the events of the game as royal traditions? Moving ahead a little, there’s talk of Zelda having to “awaken” her powers via a pilgrimage, so would that mean they had to follow Zelda’s path as a rite of passage for the Crown Princesses (as descendants of Hylia/SS!Zelda)?
The Sheikah technology, when downloading maps and Runes onto the Slate, drops into a tear shape on the Slate, as in the Sheikah symbol, which is awesome.
The Sheikah are also said to be “technologically advanced” in this game, and the Shrines are a lot like the trials/Sage Barriers at the end of Ocarina of Time in Ganon’s Tower.
With the Sheikah, there are a number of references to Mahayana Buddhism, such as the Monks in the shrines (influenced, I believe, by the Ascetic practice of Sokushinbutsu). As a religious studies student, it’s interesting to look at, considering how religions influence culture; in this case, how Japanese forms of Mahayana Buddhism (as well as Shinto, on a related note) have influenced the series in general.
Some of the sound effects in the game give that ‘feel’ of recovering memories, like sort of a whoosh or clink sound effect.
In fact, a lot of its emphasis on memories reminds me of Mother 3, in the sense we have a ruined world, amnesia (and of course, heartbreaking emotional sequences, lol). The emphasis on flora, fauna and exploration in this game also reminds me of Pikmin 3, as well as the map screen and plot exposition.
However, there are times when the exposition has its problems. The explanation by King Rhoam, aka, the Old Man, on the fate of Hyrule, is rather ‘telling’ than ‘showing’, much like some of the parts in Metal Gear Solid 2.
His explanation too gives off vibes of King Daphnes in Wind Waker; the guilt and regret of the events that transpired (as well as possible guilt over the way he scolded his daughter later on?).
He also talks of the ‘legend’ of the ‘Princess and the Knight’, with parallels to Hylia and the First Hero in SS, maybe? His imploring of Link to save his daughter (Zelda) also reminds me of Headmaster Gaebora’s plea to save Zelda, and Rauru in OoT, also.
Praying to the Statue of Hylia also allows you to extend your life/stamina in exchange for Orbs; which may be more SS parallels maybe?
Getting to the Owa Daim Shrine across Mount Hylia (which, by the way, is amazing) without any woolies: difficult. Died a number of times from enemies, drowning, falling off the cliff and the cold. The Woollen Doublet quest (involving having to hunt and fish for food items)? Even more annoying when you suck at hunting boar, so you have to wait for more birds to fly over, and just how big the area is. Worth it? Yes.
Amiibo-wise, Wolf Link saves a lot of time hunting, but seems to run stupidly head-on into danger, which ended up in him getting killed by the one of the Guardians. Toon Link comically rains down fish, which is hilarious, and Toon Zelda rains down flowers, which may be a reference to her character in this game (being a biology nerd and imparting her wisdom of flora and fauna to Link in the game later on).
That may also be why Link could know of the flora and fauna in this too; he can’t remember much, but he can remember what a Silent Mushroom is, lol.
The royal family, Rhoam and Zelda included, tend to speak in English accents. If the VAs aren’t British, then they, personally, actually did a pretty good job of it, speaking as a Brit, haha.
Getting even more DW vibes, and after spoiling things for myself, I just know that the Zelink in this game is giving me RiverxEleven vibes, what with this ‘spoilers’ theme going on and the whole ‘memory’ thing. It’s certainly giving me vibes of Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead; in other words, if there’s a reunion scene between the two, it’s gonna kill me with feels like with rewatching the episodes a second time post-series 6, haha.
Switch
The Switch version is very similar to the Wii U, only without the install (thank God), and crisper graphics in comparison. I’ll be playing the Wii U version first, and comparing later, so I won’t be saying as much now.
That being said, it’s an interesting experience to compare. Knowing about most of the items beforehand allows one to get certain items earlier, and allows for one to take different paths to experience things.
King Rhoam, in this context too, reminds me of the Curator in The Day of The Doctor. Basically this entire game(s) keep giving me DW vibes, haha.
And that’s about it for now. I might write down more as I go along, or I might save it all to the end, depending.

All the numbers coward
Oh goody, I was beginning to think no one was going to ask me to do any :)
1. First game you played obsessively?I think the first game I played obsessively was Pokemon Ruby. This was before I actually new anything about strategy (like 3rd/4th grade) or even how to swap out pokemon, but I remember running through the whole game with just my trusty Swampert, up until the Elite Four beat my unbalanced ass ; u ;
2. A game that has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc.I don’t draw or write much now, but I do remember really liking the boxart of LoZ: Link to the Past enough to try doodling it and a few items.
3. What did you play as a kid?As a child I was like exclusively nintendo. Pokemon Ruby and Emerald, Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, like every single Pokemon Mystery Dungeons Game, and LoZ: A link to the past

Rarest/Most expensive game in your collection?I still have my original Pokemon Emerald cartridge, and a link to the past gba cartridge9. Most regrettable purchase?oof. Probably Splatoon 2. Great game, wonderful aesthetic, but I realized I spent $60 for a game that held my interest for like a week because of my friends.10. Ever go to a midnight game release or stand in line for hours?Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire release. It was just a really good time with friends and then a bunch of nerds playing pokemon together after.11. Have you ever made new friends from playing video games?Video games is like the reason I have any friends today.12. If it was a requirement to get a game related tattoo, what would you pick?probably some kind of arcana card from persona. yeah, that sounds neat.16. Ever play in a tournament?I played in like one smash tournament and got bm’d so I stopped going.29. What is your gaming set up?I have a dual monitor pc setup, but one of the monitors is bigger than the other, so it also doubles as the screen I use for my xbox, switch, and ps430. A sequel that you would die for them to make?eh don’t really have any, if they remaster modern warfare 2 and 3, that would be pretty neat.40. What to you think of virtual reality headsets or motion controls?sounds like fun, but I don’t think I’d ever buy any until I have my own place and a lot more room.41. A genre that you just can’t get into?sports games that involve real sports teams (not including tennis)42. Maybe it wasn’t your first game, but what was the game that started you on your path to nerdiness?Pokemon Mystery dungeons series was like the first games that actually made me feel anything emotionally.43. You feel?45. How are you at Mario Kart?I’m decent. definitely not the best.46. Do you like relaxing games like Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon?I need to be in the mood for it.
