I love how Babymetal’s music and theme is about like empowering young girls and women or whatever but then the way their agency interacts with fans is like “if you’re not a 28yo man with a job in tech and a fuckton of disposable income we hope you die”
#I mean it's not like I got into Babymetal having any illusions that they were some sort of underground feminist group#They've been basically an idol group run by an idol agency since the very beginning#(Though I don't think the individual members are like. The Bourgeoise™ or whatever I have nothing against them)#(Or the Kami Band or the Avengers for that matter)#But jesus christ the dissonance has been getting worse and worse in recent years#Like idk I don't think the 15yo girl they sing about in Headbanger is out here buying NFTs#Anyway yes this is about the fact that they announced a US tour literally hours before tickets go on sale#Thus making it inaccessible to anyone who needs a little time to save up for things instead of dropping a ton of money on a whim

So I read a recent BM interview (new noise magazine) and the new "interview format" by not even including which member answered which question feels... idk weird? I'm getting such a bad vibe that their management's decision after the Yui mess is not to address things better, but more vaguely until everyone is interchangeable. I understand that for the Kami band and Avenger, but not for Su and Moa. Do you think this is just caution for foreign media (cause their JPN ones are so personal)?
...............honestly i think you’re overreacting; the interview is literally over email.....eMAIL....there is no way the girls were present, the company/management just typed out their usual scripted answers and sent them over, neither girl was there so neither is credited as saying it. i really truly do not think it was meant as ~it doesn’t matter which girl said it~ because, quite frankly, as i said, neither of them did anyway. the interviewer goes full overreaction mode too talking about how it’s telling the quotes aren’t attributed to anyone like....come on.......the girls didn’t say it, it’s literally the same as always, their in person interviews are just the company’s words coming from them too.Â
i think it’s a combination of cultural difference (in terms of how jpop is run with management and so forth), as well as a language barrier. i really really honestly truly don’t think it’s worth worrying overÂ
(the interview for those who want to read it)
#it's genuinely their same old same old??? i don't get the panic#they're always like this but this one is just through email#waningmoontides#replies
