The One Piece World Timezones [Fixed]

Okay, so I did a big WHOOPS. I thought the Grand Line is the equator. Someone in the notes pointed out that no, the Grand Line is not the equator and honestly, yeah, my fault for not going a bit deeper into my research.

Here is how the globe is and how the Grand Line goes. The blue thingy is I suspect the actual equator.

The reasons I thought the Grand Line is on the equator is:

1) weather

2) natural occurences

3) map on the One Piece Wiki

Crazy shit happens in the equator in our world.

2) now that you have UTC 0, you put another minus, this one from Dressrosa's UTC, which is UTC -7, so it goes

9 am - 7 = 2 am

So it's 2 am in Dressrosa, while it's 5 pm in Marineford!

From West to East

Say it's 22:00 (10 pm) on Saturday in Dressrosa, what time is it in Holy Land? Here are the steps.

1) (Dressrosa current time) + (Dressrosa's Timezone Number) = time at UTC 0

So that's:

10 pm + 7 = 5 am Sunday (UTC 0)

2) UTC 0 time + Holy Land Time Number

So: 5 am + 8 = 13:00 (1 pm) Sunday

So while it's 10 pm Saturday in Dressrosa and Doflamingo is conducting business with the Paradise part of the Grand Line, in the Holy Land, the ugly Celestials are eating lunch on Sunday or napping bcs they are freeloading cu- (censored) unlike Doflamingo who's actually working!

I don't read the manga, but I'm caught up with the anime and if the manga does reveal a map, actual map like that curved one in the picture with Law or Oda finally makes one, I give the manga readers full permission to send it to me in an ask and I will update the posts again. Heresy Report: Hunter Edition

- Arc is crazy now. Running Conviction with both Tempest Strike and Ascension is great fun. Especially now that Ascension works like an actual dodge and refunds my melee. You have x4 Resist pretty much at all times. Especially when paired with….

- Lodestar. It’s insane how powerful it is. ADS switches to a burst fire mode with increased precision damage but if you play mnk you’ll just be hip-firing the whole time. It’s like an arc flavored baby Ager’s. I use baby loosely because it feels like its doing just as much damage as a special trace.

- Reworks: Sealed Ahamkara Grasps are a lot of fun. Especially with double primary. Get a powered melee kill and the just start constantly hot-swapping. The bonus damage is nice but negligible. Definitely awards aggression. Radiant Dance Machines were a pleasant surprise. The buffed hip fire for all primary weapons is crazy. It’s not quite DMT or BXR but it’s damn close. And it’s so much fun. The extra dodge charges on multi kills is just a bonus.

- I adore this new activity. The location does a lot of the carrying but exploration is rewarded and solo play is completely viable. You’ll definitely want a 3 man if you’re speed running tho. Haven’t tried the hard mode yet. The health changes are welcome imo and they knocked it out of the park with the roguelite elements; even with meta progression! It feels unique and new without losing any “destiny-ness”

Quick question, but when did you start using or why did the fandom start using Blake as the name for Black ⭐ Star in their modern Soul eater Au fics.

hi there! ooh, thanks for giving me the chance to chat about fandom lore haha. I got the idea from @marshofsleep (sleepmarshes on ao3), whose fics you may have read (and if you haven't, you totally should!!!). there's literally not a bad one in the bunch, and marsh is largely regarded as a SE fandom (particularly SoMa) leader/pioneer and for good freakin' reason <33 they've done some really incredible writing and are just a very lovely human tbh

EDIT re: sing's reply - 'Blake' has actually been around for quite a bit longer than I remembered: marsh first used it in Lodestar (published in 2012 on FFN! yowza). but yeah! marsh was indeed the first xD (I had originally named it as being used in Quantum Entanglement but this is incorrect - still a great fic tho, so I'll leave it linked! the existence of FFN messed up my timeline 🙃)

there was a popular slew of Black*Star equivalents in the years that followed (Blaine and Blaise come to mind, and there were definitely others also) but Blake has definitely become the mainstay in the 2020s. i do feel like this particular name encapsulates his personality quite well xD

as for the why: I personally find (and I think this is most people's philosophy also) that it just keeps the modern AU illusion a bit stronger for me. i had to go back and look to see the first time i actually used it, and i think it was in Found it Once, which lines up pretty well with the timeline hahaha (written in late 2018). i've seen people do this with certain characters in other fandoms also!

“Alastor Doucet,” The voice to his left is all smoke, gravel, and unmistakable gravitas. Alastor straightens as much as his already impeccable posture will allow when he addresses his better.

“How do you do, Mr. Zestial,” Alastor inclines his head respectfully at the owner and proprietor of his radio network.

“Well, my good man, quite well,” he chuckles from deep within his chest. “We’re entering something of a golden age at Lodestar, and you’re one of the leading acts helping to usher it in. Why don’t you allow me to thank you properly,” he suggests, already making for the bar. Naturally, Alastor hastens to keep pace.

The bar has a real brass rail and a huge mirror lines the shelves where the dozens of bottles stand on proud display- cordials and liquors of all sorts that ease the flow of laughter and innuendo throughout the room. Zestial orders a Sazerac for Alastor, already well aware of his employee’s tastes.

“It’s not often that you make an appearance. It’s a shame," Zestial said as he turned to Alastor. "It’s never a dull night when you join the game table.”

“Well, I’m happy to amuse and delight when I can.”

The two men raise their glasses to one another and drink deeply, for the night is young and there’s much fun to be had yet.

I'm back in revisions. //dead-eyed stare// I know, I know, just when I thought I was out! Not long after I began querying, I received some insightful, I-can't-tell-you-how-encouraging feedback I simply couldn't ignore. So I've been back at the grindstone. Not a complete overhaul, but not a touch-up either, a softly transformative readjustment let's say. At this point I'm an old hand at revisions, but this latest round has been a mindfuck. I'm so close! And yet, and yet. I second-guess myself a lot. Sometimes there are third and fourth-guesses. It's a little like Hannibal and Wolf Trap: I've replayed this story so many times I don't know what's real. But sometimes I catch a glimmer, I can feel my own electrifying proximity to the final form, this surefooted propulsive BEAST of a book if only I can push a little harder, think a little clearer, make that last set of fateful decisions that lead me from this maze. ...But what if those decisions are wrong?

I can't tell you how nostalgic I feel for fic-writing right now. Back then I thought I was a perfectionist, but I was still just hitting 'publish' and letting it fly. The freedom, the elation, the regular reminders that I wasn't alone--I had that. I am lucky and grateful to have had that. My experiences in fandom have been great bolsters when I'm overwhelmed by writerly uncertainty. My fics and their readers have become my lodestars. ILU all, seriously.

I didn't want to include this in my answer to the question asking for recommendations about books on North Korea, but can't help sharing this incredible book with everyone: Kim Jong Il: The Lodestar of the 21st Century. When I say it is "incredible", I don't mean that it's a really good, fair, balanced biography about North Korea's dearly-departed "Dear Leader". I mean "incredible" in the literal definition of that word.

I don't remember if I found this book in a used bookstore in Los Angeles or in Sacramento, but I bought it immediately because it's an English-language edition of the pure, ridiculous web of propaganda that North Korea builds around its leaders. When you open the book, you find painfully-posed photos of Kim Jong Il giving "on-the-spot guidance" to people who are doing various jobs. Then, before you even reach the table of contents, there are several pages featuring songs that Kim Jong Il, of course, supposedly wrote the lyrics and music for. Of course, that would just be child's play for Kim considering he wrote over 1,500 books and six full-length operas while he was in college, according to North Korea. I'm not sure if he did that on the same day that he supposedly made 11 holes-in-one while playing a round of golf, but it seems likely.

It's impossible to relate all of the amazing things that Kim Jong Il did that made him "The Lodestar of the 21st Century," so I'll just share some of the chapter titles in this totally accurate biography: "A Man of Loyalty and Filial Piety, A Master of Pen and Sword"; "Uncommon Ideological and Theoretical Intellect"; "A Master of the Juche Idea"; "The Quintessence of the Thought of Our Time"; "A Paragon of Present-Day Statesman"; "The General Leader of Socialist Construction".

That's just a quick peek into his greatness -- and this is only the first volume of this biography, so I can only imagine what else we could learn about -- and from -- such a paragon of present-day statesmen! I feel improvement just from having the book on my shelf.
