The full Donkey Kong Country cast! Except the ones I couldn't be bothered to draw! Let's get on with them. (DK and Candy were in the second batch)
Diddy and Dixie remain mainly the same, though Diddy I based off his movie design solely because I couldn't get the crop top to look right. Still a couple as indicated by their matching nail polish.
Cranky has a vest and sweatpants under the red shawl he has in the movie, while Wrinkly I gave a similar setup but in green and with a sundress. She's still dead in my 'verse, but her ghost appears in this design instead of a nightgown.
Chunky and Kiddy! Since in my 'verse everyone's a little older Kiddy goes from a toddler to a kindergarten/first-grade aged kid, who is still just huge for no reason. Chunky is his big brother around Diddy's age and since the movie portrayed Chunky as having some peach fuzz I gave him a bit of scruff on his chin. He ended up pretty cute I must say!
I'VE ALWAYS HATED TINY KONG'S HAT. IT'S SO UGLY. So I fully removed it from my design lol. I kept the same general idea of her teen design but aged it down just a smidge so you can easily tell Dixie's the older one of the 2, while also making her blonde hair dyed for some extra variety. instead of a crop tank top and sweatpants she has an off-the-shoulders top and a skort for some extra variation.
As for Lanky Kong I leaned into his namesake, and if he looks just a SMIDGE evil that's because I had TheMentok's video on the Kongs in the background as I drew and that might've influenced me just a tad lol.
Funky my beloved! I went full into his original full-surfer design, to get something different since Funky canonically hates going adventuring. I gave him a belly gained from just chilling on the beach most days lol. Also he has hair now! With him I set out to not just make him a clone of DK that wears clothes.
Lastly, King K. Rool and Lord Fredrik! With K.Rool I mixed his regular design with his Super Mario Sluggers design and also gave him a LOOOOOONG tail because crocodile. He wears a cuirass over his chest and gut. As for Fredrik all I did was give him some boots his design was strong enough already.
Now for extra 'verse lore: K.Rool rules Kremling Island, Fredrik rules the nearby Snowmad Island. these two alongside the Kong Isles form the Jungle Archipelago Kingdom. All three nations have beef with each other but since the recent Peace Treaty between the Mushroom and Koopa Kingdoms they've moved to a "cold war" sort of status where no one is openly hostile to one another but they still hate each other lol.

So a while ago I was tagged by the wonderful @stolligaseptember to answer these 10 questions and then come up with 10 new ones. 1. What’s the worst household chore? Vacuuming, I think, it’s tiresome and most importantly, it scares my cats. Oh, and the sound is terribly disturbing to listen to when someone else does it.
2. Three books you think everyone should read? Oh no, this is tough! People have so different taste, the books I enjoy wouldn’t fit everyone. So I think three books I think everyone should read would be quite scientific ones about things I find important. Although I have at least one such book in mind, lets not go there…
So, instead, here’s three books I think everyone who has a similar taste in books as I should give a go (they’re all very lovely): ”Time stops for no mouse” by Michael Hoeye, the first book in The Hermux Tantamoq Adventures about Hermux, a watchmaker mouse who becomes a detective (it’s for children, but it’s really, really lovely), ”The Hobbit” (J.R.R Tolkien) and ”Britt-Marie was here” (Fredrik Backman). (Or, pretty much any book by Astrid Lindgren, I can’t really pick).
3. Even if you’re a terrible baker, what’s your go-to baking choice? Well, if I’ve got plenty of time for baking it’s buns! When there’s less time, then maybe pie (summer and autumn), chocolate balls or kladdkaka (sticky chocolate cake). But mostly I just ask my sister or mother if there’s anything special they want, honestly. If I didn’t save it for special occations, cake might have been my go-to choice, because I think planning out, preparing and putting together a cake is my favourite kind of baking.
4. Any favorite candy? Not really actually, not a clear favourite at least. What I’m craving really changes from day to day, and sometimes depends on mood, weather and situation. But chocolate is almost always right.
5. What’s the first thing you do in the morning? Drink water. Or turn of my alarms if I wake up before all of them has gone off.
6. Is there a story behind your name? If not, what does your name mean? I don’t know if it counts as a story, but what I know is that my mom wanted me and my siblings to have more "international" names, rather than common swedish names. Other than that, I guess she just liked it.
7. Favorite song right now? I don’t have one right now, haven’t for quite some time. But considering the fact that pretty much the entire thing is sung, may I say the musical ”Ingvar!”? (thanks for the suggestion, SVT Play, I love it!). That’s pretty much what I’ve been listening to the past days (together with a bit of Kristina från Duvemåla and other musicals).
On a side note: Ingvar! will be avaible on SVT Play (x) for some months, watch it peeps, it’s amazing! It’s in swedish though. Who could have guessed that a musical about Ingvar Kamprad and IKEA would be so very catchy. And just look at this:
I love the shelf, dynamite and meatball costumes. I only knew of Anders Ekborg and Daniel Engman before watching this, but all the performers are amazing. 8. Best compliment that you’ve ever received? This isn’t the best one, I know that much, but I don’t remember anything else right now, so: last year I worked with pulled sugar for the first (and so far only) time to do a bow for a cake to a friend’s birthday party, and for a split-second someone though it was real, that was fun!
9. If you could spend the day with any historical person of your choice, who would it be? Someone important to the field of conservation biology and/or ecology and/or environmental science I think. Probably Rachel Carson, I mean Silent Spring was revolutionary and so, so important, both considering the use of pesticides but also for raising awareness about nature’s vulnerability to human intervention.
10. Are you a prisoner of planet earth? I’d say it sometimes feels like planet earth is a prisoner of the human race. (I didn’t get the reference so I googled it and I’ve never heard of the ”prison earth” idea before, if that’s even what you’re after. But no, I don’t think I am). Here’s my questions: 1. Favourite mineral or rock, if you have one, if not: birthstone? 2. What was the last movie or tv show/series you watched and what did you think about it? 3. Favourite jam? 4. Do you prefer deciduous or coniferous forests? Or another kind of forest? 5. Is there any song/movie/tv show that reminds you of a time in your life that you miss sometimes? 6. Do you prefer restaurants or cafés, and why? 7. What would be the perfect picture (for you) for your birth month in a calendar? 8. Favourite instrument to listen to? 9. Have you got any favourite motivational quote(s) or lyrics? If not, any other quote(s) you like? 10. A language you wish you were fluent in?
I tag: @aprilskyforever @triplestaff @liljakonvalj and anyone who want to do it (oh and you, if you wanna do it again September) :)

Replies to Mary Sue for Mayor
Below the cut, replies to replies on Mary Sue’s interview and campaign
nimitwinklesims replied to your post “thirty. Chapter 11, part 1. Spring 1996, Pleasantview”
Nice characterisation and development of the premades! I sort of fell into this story, not having seen any of the other installments, so I have a question: why did you set it in 1996? Perhaps arbitrary, but I'm wondering. ^^
Thank you! The answer to the question is of course that it’s not set in 1996, it started in 1990, and 1996 is far as the story has come so far, which was chosen for a few reasons. First of all, I wanted time to be able to progress without catching up to “today” too soon. Second, I wanted it far enough back to give myself a little bit of nostalgia when looking up what music, movies, events, technology etc was relevant to that time, but not so far back that I would have to get a whole bunch of time-relative cc.

"Well, Ajay, I would say he's a sexist pig and I feel sorry for his poor wife."
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “It’s… a bit more high class area too.” He didn’t pose it as...”
HAH! I was gonna say pretty much exactly what Holley said...
That’s a really good answer, but not one super-politician Mary Sue would use :)
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “I think my opponent will find that sort of talk will backfire on him....”
*points at floating heads* And I saw 'em even before I read the tag. *is proud*
Good :) I was worried they wouldn’t be seen well enough.
holleyberry replied to your post “Are you really that interested?” Lilith asked Angela who kept peeking...”
Your loss, Lilith.
jaydesims replied to your post “Are you really that interested?” Lilith asked Angela who kept peeking...”
Cassie's got some competition lol...
Lilith has Dirk, she doesn’t need Ajay :) And Ajay has Cassandra, he doesn’t need a college student :)
pleasant-lives replied to your post “I’m afraid I have to bring up some, perhaps sensitive, subjects now,”...”
Still, I know Daniel is to blame, but it takes two to dance a tango... kaylynn knew the situation...
Indeed she did, and she is definitely partly responsible for causing heart ache, but the difference between her and Daniel is that Kaylynn never promised to be faithful, nor did she betray over fifteen years of marriage.
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “I’m afraid I have to bring up some, perhaps sensitive, subjects now,”...”
*smirks at the kids* But I also have to say that I like Mary Sue's attitude here...assuming that she's not just "being a politician." Misplaced anger is just bad. Be mad at the person who really deserves it, not anyone else. And that includes being angry at yourself when it's not warranted. That's a life lesson that took me a while to learn.
I think Mary Sue is part honest / part politician here. She knows what would sound good in an interview, but that doesn’t mean she’s lying when she says it.
katatty-main replied to your post “Is your daughter Lilith in a relationship with her step-brother?”...”
i think mary sue is coming out of this interview looking good!
Enough to win the election? I guess time will tell. And by time, I mean the time I will need to film the rest of the chapter...
pleasant-lives replied to your post “Daniel sat down and crossed his arms over his chest. “Angela already...”
I love her
Me too. Can you tell?
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “And why is that?” “Three reasons. First of all, you know as well as I...”
You go, girl. :) And yes, hockey is far, far, FAR superior to (American) football. And possibly to real football, too, although I don't know that sport as well.
Daniel of course plays real football. The one where you use your feet. And yes, it’s super boring, and not nearly as fun as hockey. However, Daniel’s reasoning that Hockey needs expensive equipment, and football doesn’t, is absolutely worth thinking about, and something I stole from Swedish writer Fredrik Backman.
swedishjazz replied to your post “And why is that?” “Three reasons. First of all, you know as well as I...”
LILITH BRINGING OUT THE BIG GUNS
It’s the only way Lilith knows how to communicate.
holleyberry replied to your post “And why is that?” “Three reasons. First of all, you know as well as I...”
You know, for Angela being "the favorite" she sure doesn't know her dad very well.
Does anyone ever really know their parents?
pleasant-lives replied to your post “And your mother?” “She will give money to sports of course, because...”
Awwwww
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “And your mother?” “She will give money to sports of course, because...”
Aw. <3
holleyberry replied to your post “And your mother?” “She will give money to sports of course, because...”
omg...*wipe tears*
katatty-main replied to your post “Oh.” Lilith remembered now. She tried to remember if she had told him...”
awww <3
vampireprincessmaria replied to your post “Oh.” Lilith remembered now. She tried to remember if she had told him...”
Aww, they're cute!
holleyberry replied to your post “Oh.” Lilith remembered now. She tried to remember if she had told him...”
Shut up! I'm not crying. You're crying! *wipes tears*
*desired reader response ACHIEVED*
swedishjazz replied to your post “I don’t know, Dirk,” Dustin said. “I don’t really care about...”
Now that's one way to get votes.
Dirk should’ve just baked him cookies.
dramallamadingdang replied to your post “I don’t know, Dirk,” Dustin said. “I don’t really care about...”
Yep, Dustin sounds like an American. *sigh* *eye roll*
He’s not, he’s from Sim Nation ;) and sadly I think apathy when it comes to voting is universal, especially in local elections.
treason-and-plot replied to your post “I don’t know, Dirk,” Dustin said. “I don’t really care about...”
I love how natural and realistic your character's conversations are
*swoons at praise*
tamtam-go92 replied to your post “On the street corner, Angela was waiting for him. “That took a long...”
I really liked this update! Here in Germany we are gonna have elections in 10 days so your update is really everything about what I hear those days too, so great work, really realistic!
We had our national church election yesterday (but I’m not allowed to vote in it because reasons), so I was really inspired by that. I hope the German election turns out well this year, the rest of Europe needs you too.
holleyberry replied to your post “On the street corner, Angela was waiting for him. “That took a long...”
Great update Ias!
