Any other queer-but-doesnt-know-it-yet babies avoid queer-themed media around their parents and friends like the plague?? The amnt of times I said I didn't want to watch something with mum during our movie nights bc I'd heard it had even just an inkling of queer smh. She wasnt even homophobic that I knew of I just couldn't bare it. Just the thought of her reaction felt like I was being stripped bare for all the world to see.

#we watched anime together a lot #and I actively refused to watch certain things #bc I'd heard it had a queer element #(I was often wrong bc I didnt understand the difference between the media and fanart lol)#so missed out on a lot in those early days #but then as a teen I watched more and more anime alone #Gravitation was my first Gay anime #or was it Kyou Kara Maoh??#which i watched w mum!#the horror I felt #wanted to curl into a ball and die #i dont think mum even noticed it #the gay scenes i mean #bc they were played for laughs and not a main plotpoint #Gravitation on the other hand......#i told mum the pink haired boy was just a girl w short hair lmao #she wasnt even homophobic #but all I knew abt being queer was that u got bullied #girls schools r rough 😮‍💨#so ofc I thought that would be everyones reaction #and mum did have some...misconceptions....#which we have worked through #so it wasnt completely misplaced fear #I also didnt understand why I liked it bc surely since I likef boys i couldnt like girls too?!#then I heard the term bisexuality and a light bulb went off #ding ding ding YOU r gay #well queer bc all the other labels dont really fit #anyway yeah....anyone else?#my rambles #queer
