#I love It when you find little bits and pieces of people in really old manuscripts#like a fingerprint from an 18th century lawyer#(I nerded out so hard today. because I was examining and photographing his casebook for extraction and transcription. and he actually#created his own index for it. in the 1730s. with an internal numbering system. which meant I could find exactly what I wanted.#without spending ages trying to decipher every bit of paleography).#my favorite thing I’ve ever found like that#was an apology letter from a Russian poet in the 1920s to his lover#where he cut off a few little pieces of his hair#and glued them to a cat he’d drawn for her as whiskers#not the stones#me stuff#london#I should be done at the BL tomorrow so from here on out#much more going around the city
