I think your blog is the only safe space of UtaPri fandom on Tumblr. There are so many toxic people in this hell site that I wonder what they would think if other fans bashed their favorite character or group in the same daily basis they do with Heavens. It's not even funny being a fan that loves everything about the series when you found their hate speech spamming comment against them in almost every popular blog. Thanks for your appreciation blog. Keep up with your good job. I love your memes.

I was part of a very popular blog in an unnamed very popular otome fandom. I left due to concern for my own mental/physical health, because hot damn you’re right. Fandom culture can be toxic. The internet was a mistake. Half the things said on this website would never be said by those people when faced with it IRL.

I really can’t wrap my brain around why people need to spread hate. Spread positivity. Spread what you like/love about things. Are you allowed to dislike/hate things? Yes. Share opinions? Yes. But there’s a difference between sharing an opinion which makes you open to discussion, and sharing a hate-fueled thought because you need validation from others to back it up…which is what the majority of these things are tbh. But before you make that “this character is bad because” or “if you like this character you’re horrible because”…ask yourself this question:

What are you trying to accomplish with that post? Does it make you enjoy “The Thing” more? Does it make others want to enjoy “The Thing” more? Are you wanting to show others how great “The Thing” is so more people will also love “The Thing?”

If not, then why the hell are you posting it? Stop spreading hate. There’s enough of that in the real world. Let fandoms be positive places where we can enjoy things and forget about the hate that happens every damn day, if only for a little bit.

Again. This isn’t to say you can’t state your opinion. People are free to have their own. But having an opinion doesn’t give you any sort of right to be some be all, end all of the fandom in question. Which I feel like some blogs may feel like if they scream loud enough about something, they’ll be seen as an authority. That doesn’t work. That just makes you look mean and hateful, and in no way do you have the right to determine who/what anyone likes/dislikes, nor do you have the right to judge the person behind a blog based on that. I realize I may sound hypocritical right there, but again, it stems from how you’re sharing your opinion. It’s pretty easy to tell if you’re sharing it from a place of stirring discontent versus just sharing an opinion.

We don’t spread hate of any kind on this blog. We share our opinions, which are of course open to discussion. We never expect everyone to agree with us. We love discussing/debating with you guys. However, we have been approached with more fiery opposition from time to time. So expect an equally fiery defense. That’s how debates work.

Anon, I am pleased to hear you think our blog is a safe space! We, Vanguard and I, have tried and are trying to make it so and it’s nice to hear that positive feedback. So, thank you!!Now, as to my opinions on the matter… I understand disliking a character and having reasons for it, but what I don’t understand is hating and hurting a REAL person because they happen to like a certain character or fandom.It’s completely fine if you don’t like a character or a fandom. You have your reasons, they have theirs. You can ask nicely why they like something and express nicely why you don’t. Don’t make general judgments about someone just because they like a certain character. For example, I have already made it clear in a previous post that I like Raging Otori….As. A. Character. That does not mean I don’t find his behavior towards his children and idols reprehensible. It does not mean I condone his type of behavior in real life. It doesn’t mean I think he can do no wrong. I KNOW he’s not the best parent and that his role in Uta Pri is being the antagonist. What I like about this character is trying to understand how they are and why they are this way. What makes them think the way they do and is there any way they can change and develop throughout the course of the story.Those are my reasons. Everyone has their own and the only way to get to know them and possibly understand something in a different way is to have those civil, if not friendly, conversations and remember that it’s alright to agree to disagree, but in no way should one attack the very much real person on the other side that like you, has very real feelings and reasons of their own.Let’s just all have fun and enjoy our shows and respect each other. Gekidan Shining from Utano☆Prince-sama♪ Presents Polaris Interview! "I've broadened my horizons," says Ryunosuke Matsumura (EnterStage)

"Gekidan Shining" is a stage performance project for the otome series "Utano☆Prince-sama♪" (more commonly known as Uta☆Pri) developed in order to delve into the theater scene. June of last year saw the debut of its first show "Tenka Muteki no Shinobi-do", followed by "Masquerade Mirage" in September and "JOKER TRAP" earlier this year. A revue performance, "SHINING REVUE", featuring all three productions was held due to astonishing fan feedback. This fall, the "Gekidan Shining" project will tackle the "Theater Shining" series, focusing on the theme of "movies".

The first installment in this series and the fourth major performance for the company will be "Polaris", a science fiction tale of a distant future where three young men must work together to protect the Earth from impending crisis while each exploring their own humanity along the way. Expectations are high for how this grand of a story will be portrayed on the stage. We talked to Ryunosuke Matsumura, the role of Tokiya Ichinose, about the shift from the "JOKER TRAP" performance and his own thoughts on "Polaris".

--To start with, can you tell us about your impressions from working on "Gekidan Shining from Utano☆Prince-sama♪ Presents JOKER TRAP"? It was only a few months ago, but it already feels like its been years since it happened. (laughs) Since there was so much that happened during that short period of time, I was actually a little sad once it had run its course... I needed some time before I could really tell myself "alright, this is really over".

--Were you particularly invested in "JOKER TRAP"? It was a truly fulfilling experience from the first day of practice all the way to the last day of performances. I was able to work with a wonderful group of people - Takamoto-kun in the role of REN, Kohatsu Allen-kun in the role of RAN, and Kikuchi Shuji-kun as CAMUS - that I would love to have the chance to perform alongside again in the future. It was a project I won't forget for the rest of my life.

--Did you have to change much about yourself to get into the role of TOKI during "JOKER TRAP"? To get into the role of TOKI I had to first learn how to act as Ichinose Tokiya and it's a pretty conscious shift I go through. Ever since I decided to turn acting into a career, I knew I had to be strict with myself. Ichinose Tokiya is also very strict with himself, the kind of person who strives to do everything perfectly. It was inspiring and sort of felt like I was getting a look at myself from a different perspective. As a result, I became more in tune with what I'm currently capable of and what I still need to improve on. The whole experience gave me a chance to grow as a person as well as an actor.

--I saw your performance and thought you were an amazing TOKI. I wouldn't necessarily say amazing, but thank you nonetheless. I think the quality of my acting will differ among viewers, but so long as I was able to grow from the performance I'll be pleased with myself. I can't extend my thanks enough to all the fans who cheered us on and gave me strength. As the audience's excitement grew we found ourselves thinking "I want them to have even more fun! I want them to feel even more fulfilled!" and that really drove us from one performance to the next. I'm proud to say that I was part of a performance that brought the audience together as a whole.

--After the "JOKER TRAP" performances were over, you were also involved in a revue show showcasing songs from "Gekidan Shining from Utano☆Prince-sama♪ Presents Tenka Muteki no Shinobi-michi, Masquerade Mirage, and JOKER TRAP" under the name "SHINING REVUE". Every single performance we did was really fun! All of my co-stars had the same mentality of not wanting to lose and to keep raising the bar for themselves. It was definitely refreshing to collaborate with the actors from separate shows during the variety corner.

--That was also where you first met Shojiro Yokoi, your co-star in "Polaris". That's right. Yokkoi-san (Yokoi's nickname) and I have even started hanging out in our free time. Once "JOKER TRAP" was over, it was nice to have someone who could put up with me. We don't have a senpai/kouhai relationship either which is a plus. (laughs) We haven't known each other for long but I already feel like he's been my best friend for years.

--You've previously said that you're rather shy when it comes to meeting new people. Does this mean you're starting to overcome your shyness? I think Yokkoi-san is a special case. Yokkoi-san seems to be pretty shy himself and that was just sort of an immediate connection between us. (laughs) The more I get to know his bright personality, his smile, and his friendly nature, the more I find myself liking him.

--What's your impression of your other co-star who plays the role of Natsuki Shinomiya, Soichiro Yamakawa? If I had to describe Yamakawa-san in a nutshell, I'd say that he's the definition of "good youth". He was very friendly when we met despite that he's a good few years older than I am and I'm honestly excited to mess around with him backstage as we become better friends. (laughs) It's not stressful being around him so practice is something I look forward to.

--Gekidan Shining from Utano☆Prince-sama♪ Presents Polaris is the first of four in the "Theater Shining" series to make it to the stage. Expectations are high but what sort of work do you think this will be? We don't even have that much information yet on how the science fiction genre will be portrayed on stage but as an "Utano☆Prince-sama♪" fan myself, I'm looking forward to finding out even though I'm a part of it. I trust our director, Hosakayou, to handle the screenplay and production side of things well. I can't wait to jump into the world of "Polaris" once practice starts so that we can truly create something that will satisfy everyone!

--During the visual shoot, you had photographs taken of many different unique costumes. The pilot suit is my favorite! I've always loved space and robots so I'm excited just to be able to wear it.

--While on the topic, what are some of your favorite science fiction movies and anime? For movies, definitely Star Wars. As for anime, I'm fond of the Mobile Suit Gundam series, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Basically I like anything where the characters get to control the robots from inside them.

--Do you have anything you'd like to say to everyone who's looking forward to the performance? I'll do my best to give you a satisfying performance that exceeds your expectations! My goal is to have people correlate Ryunosuke Matsumura with Tokiya Ichinose... The least I can do for everyone who's a fan of the original work is fully engulf myself in the world of "Polaris" this time as well.

--The original "Polaris" from Theater Shining had the catchphrase "What is true strength?" What do you think "true strength" is? I know it's cliche but I'd say the answer is love. I think a truly strong person is someone who would sacrifice themselves for someones else. It's not something as simple as "the strength to get back up again no matter how many times you fall" or "the desire to repay someone" or even "the passion to become something greater than you already are". For instance, even if my acting career starts to overwhelm me in the future, I wouldn't be discouraged because I love what I do and cherish where I am already. Although things may get tough, as long as you can love something for what it is then I think that is enough to qualify as growth. I think that's what "true strength" is.

Don't Ever Change - Uta

$3.49 That was the cost of the tiny object that rested comfortably in your palm.  It was shiny but otherwise unimpressive.  A single rose shape decorated the center of the metallic semicircle; the detailing was simple but appealing.  You had perused the entire website for an hour searching for something that piqued your interest.  A simple hoop was too boring, the psychedelic ones were too loud.  You considered purchasing a pack of three but to be honest you were skeptical about the whole thing. 'Cyber Monday, ladies and gentlemen...' You sighed loudly and drug your eyes upward to your bathroom mirror.  Tiny specks of toothpaste and soap dotted it, but you were too lazy to clean it.  Tilting your head slightly, you flared your nostrils.  Would it even stay in?

FLASHBACK~

"And then I thought maybe we could check out that new store that just opened up." "Mmhmm..." "They have awesome jackets, men's and women's." "Mmhmm..." Your eyebrow twitched irritably as you glanced at your companion.  He was as distracted as ever, his hand darting across a sketch pad and his eyes lazily appraising his work.  You cleared your throat loudly. "There's water in the back." "Are you even listening to me?"  You growled flatly. "......" No response. 'That's it,' you inhaled deeply.  "I'M GETTING A PIERCING!" His hand stopped.  You felt a bit dizzy, a mixture of frustration and anxiety fogging your brain.  Finally, Uta turned his sketchpad to you, revealing a new mask design.  "Does this look like it needs something to you?"

END FLASHBACK~

You felt a sudden heat wash over your body as weeks of built-up anger and frustration came flooding in.  All hesitation was gone.  You lifted the faux septum ring to your nose and adjusted it so that it was securely in place.  After a moment of preparing yourself, you allowed your eyes to scan your entire face in the mirror.

A small smile tugged at your lips.

CHING! 

A loud chime alerted Uta to your presence.  Not that he needed it.  Your scent was noticeable from a mile away.  Subtle and sweet and oh so different.  It was his favorite perfume.  The ghoul expected your voice to follow soon after the chime, but was surprised by an unusual silence.  Still, he didn't dare look up from his work.

"Umm..."  You lingered near the door, hands clasped nervously behind your back.

  'This is stupid,'

you mentally chastised yourself. 

'What's the worse that can happen?'

"Everything alright?"  Uta hummed disinterestedly.  His crimson eyes were locked on his current sketch.  He seemed even more fixated than usual.

"Fine, fine..."  You strolled past all of the mask displays, eyeing each of them with mild interest.  Uta really was talented.  "How are you today?"

"......" No response.

You could feel your frustration starting to flare once more but stifled it.  He'd have to look up eventually.

"Whatcha drawing?"

"......"  Silence.

"Is it another mask design?"

A series of rapid pencil scratches was the only response you received.  You could feel your heart drumming in your chest as you approached the ghoul.  He was handsome but unconventionally so.  His raven hair contrasted beautifully with his alabaster skin.  Every once in a while the light would catch one of his piercings and cause a tiny shimmer.  As you grew closer, you noticed just how detailed each of his tattoos were and how well they seemed to suit the structure of his muscles.  Perhaps handsome wasn't the correct word.

Uta was beautiful.

"Hey,"  Your index finger pressed down on his sketchbook, causing his crimson eyes to meet with your (eye color) ones.  You had never seen Uta's face so animated.  His eyes widened and his lips formed a pale line.  A pleasant heat crawled up your neck and colored your cheeks a rosy hue.

Uta said nothing.

Finally, after a long moment of staring, your fingers wrapped around his sketchpad and pried it from his fingers.  Uta didn't attempt to stop you, but you could tell by his lack of expression that he wasn't happy that you were intruding upon his work.  With a nervous smile, you allowed your eyes to scan over the textured piece of paper.

"Wow..."  You bit your lip, trying to keep the small blush from blossoming into a scarlet rash across your face.  The girl staring back at you from the sketchpad looked painfully familiar.  She was smiling and laughing nervously.  You remembered

"That was the first time I saw you," Uta shrugged.  He crossed his arms lazily and began swiveling back and forth on his seat.  You didn't dare glance up at him. 

"When I entered your shop for the first time.

  You tried to scare me..."

"And you laughed."  The swiveling stopped suddenly and Uta snatched the sketchpad from between your hands.  You opened your mouth to speak but closed it as he flicked your faux piercing.  "Looks like I'm gonna have to make some additions to any modern sketches, though."  You laughed awkwardly, causing a small grin to stretch Uta's thin lips.  His fingertips brushed your jawline gently.  "So beautiful..." 

You stiffened as his knuckles brushed against your collarbone.  Uta was so close now that you could feel the heat radiating off of his chest.  You had to force your brain to form a coherent sentence.  "You've drawn more pictures of me?"

Uta smirked, sending a chill down your spine.  He began flipping through his sketchpad, careful not to rip any of the pages.  In between every other mask design there was a different drawing of you in various moods.  You laughed as your eyes fell upon one that had to have been based upon your last visit.  "Oh, goodness...do I really look like that when I'm mad?"

"Mmhmm~," Uta hummed.  He pressed his lips against your hair.  "So adorable."

A small squeak escaped your mouth as you felt Uta snake one arm around your waist, pulling you even closer.  His scent overwhelmed your senses.  It was sharp and clean, but also very natural.  Trying to seem as calm as possible, you let out a strained giggle.  "I guess I should have gotten a piercing sooner."

Uta lifted his head and gave you a flat look.  His right brow quirked.  "Don't even try it."

"What--"  There was a slight pinch as your faux septum ring was snatched our of your nose.  You were about to protest when Uta smashed his lips into yours, his hands cupping your face and tangling in your hair.  It was so sudden that you nearly forgot how to breathe.  All thoughts slipped out of your mind except for the heat of his breath against your tongue and the feel of his skin pressing against yours.

"______," Uta rested his cheek against yours, his breath tickling the shell of your ear.  You felt dizzy and a bit lightheaded; his voice barely registered.  "Don't ever change."

I lost the game XD

I promised my friends that I would post an Uta Pri car wash fanfic if they guess my music riddle correctly.  Well here it is @astraltactician and @elysianlacuna. XD

Quartet Night and STARISH were standing in a parking vacant parking lot on an early afternoon. They all wore white T-Shirts and shorts that had their respective colors on them. At their feet were signs, sponges, towels, buckets of soapy water and a watering hose.

A young lady, wearing a red shirt and a black skirt with a match beret walked across the line of confused males, this was Mai’s substitute choreographer Daiya and right now she was not happy. “Alright…since no one was going to confess about what happened to my dance gear. You are going to pay me back, 56365 yen worth of equipment, with hard work.”

“When is Mai-Chan coming back from her mother’s?” Reiji whispered to Ai as the lecture continued.

“In one day, five hours, ten minutes, and seven seconds,” Ai said after looking into his time data. It helps him keep track of schedules.

“We wouldn’t be in this mess if you just told the truth, Kotobuki-senpai,” Tokiya whispered harshly to him.

 “And risk paying the price by myself? No way!”

“Silence!” Daiya yelled. “All of you except Aijima-san and Mikaze-san will be washing cars till you reach the goal amount. Aijima-san and Mikaze-san will be in charge of sign waving. 

“Yes!” Cecil cheered and picked up a sign before leaving with Ai. He was happy to be far away from water. Ai was secretly relieved that he wouldn’t have to deal with Reiji’s antics during this punishment.

“As for the rest of you, figure out a system. Shinning-san said I have you for the whole day, so I’ll be back to collect at 6 o’clock.” Daiya said before leaving to go shopping with Tomochika and Haruka.

The guys stood there in silence and looked at each other before the silence was disturbed when a car honked at them. With a sigh Tokiya bent down and grabbed a towel, “I’m drying.”

“I got washing!” Otoya said cheerfully and grabbed a bucket and a sponge before running up to the car to greet the driver.

 “Well well well looks like I’m in charge of the water hose” Before Reiji could even pick up the object; Ranmaru got a hold of it.

“Oh no you don’t, we all want to try and stay dry today,” Ranmaru narrowed his eyes at his band mate. “You’re on washing duty.”

“Ugh fine…but I don’t do windows!” Reiji said before picking up a sponge.

 Hours passed and business was booming. When word got out that STARISH and Quartet Night was doing a car wash, anyone that had a vehicle came by. Even though some people already had their car washed yesterday, they dirtied it today just for the occasion. Otoya, Ren, Syo, and Reiji were on suds duty, while Tokiya Ranmaru, Natsuki, and Camus were on drying duty. Since Masato seemed the most responsible Ranmaru put him in charge of rinsing, meaning he had full control of the water hose. Nothing bad can happen…right?

“I can’t believe you dirtied my car under a minute,” Sarah said as they waited in line for the car wash.

“It was on accident,” Gemma said with a shrug from the passenger seat.

“At least we get to that popular car wash everyone is talking about,” Chi said from the back seat.

 After paying and staring at Ai like a stalker, Sarah parked the car in the first station and waited. Meanwhile, Reiji decided to cause some mischief. He eyed Masato then the hose. Now how was he going to get his hands on it? Over time he noticed that Ren and Masato fight a lot over small thing so maybe he can use that to his advantage. The senior walked over to the bluenett and whispered in his ear. Masato’s eyes widen and then he narrowed them at Ren’s back. “Here I’ll cover for you while you go take care of business,” Reiji said with an innocent smile as he took the watering hose from Masato.

Ren was busy washing the window of Sarah’s car when Masato approached him angrily. “ So you told Kotobuki-san that I’m too soft for manual labor?” Masato turned Ren around to face him when his asked.

 “Hm? I didn’t say that,” Ren always thought Masato was a hard worker, so why would he say something so contradicting? “I don’t think you’re soft maybe you need to cut back on the melon bread a bit, but you’re not soft.”

 “Did you just call me fat?!”

“No I was just saying-“ Ren was cut off when Masato shoved him into the car.

 On the inside Gemma, Chi, and Sarah were freaking out when they saw Ren’s soapy butt pressed against the glass.

 “This is not what I wanted!” Gemma yelled

 “My car!” Sarah was worried that the ruckus outside will damage her window.

 “Hey you two need to cool down,” Reiji said before pressing the trigger of the hose attachment and spraying the two juniors in cold water. The senior couldn’t help but snicker at this joke.

“Great job Hijirikawa you fell for his trick and gave him the hose…” Ren said pushed his wet hair back and out of his eyes.

Masato said nothing just clenched his fists and used his wet blue hair to hide his eyes.

“Hm who else should I get now?” Reiji said to him self and glanced over at the drying station. “Oh RanRan!”

Ranmaru groaned in annoyance when he heard that voice. He stopped what he was doing and turned around to face Reiji, “What do you want now-“ He was cut off when he took a strong splash of water to the face.

“I thought you might wanted some water…you looked pretty thirsty,” Reiji laughed and watch Ranmau stand there like a soaked cat.

“Reiji you son of a-“ Ranmaru was sprayed in the face again. He didn’t see Reiji run off to bring more havoc on his fellow idols.

“According to my calculations , we made enough money to pay back Daiya-san with interest,” Ai said as he waved the last car in and announced the car wash closed.

 “That’s good news we can finally stop,” Cecil said as he carried the signs in. “And I didn’t get wet.” Cecil spoke too soon. As soon as they two were in the vicinity, Reiji sprayed them with cold water. “Waaaah!”

S3 Uta Pri Thoughts

So my thoughts on S3 of UtaPri (sorry it took so long): I thought it was actually really interesting to see them work together. I really liked the idea of the cross units and it was nice to see Quartet Night develop as characters. But while I am warming up to them, Starish is still higher for me. I do find myself wishing there was more interaction between the Quartet members and the Starish ones. I did like the idea of the cross-units to show each of them interacting in new ways and getting challenged, though I thought certain characters benefited more from it than others.

I think the most successful cross unit for me was Code TVU (Syo, Ren, and Cecil) in terms of characters. While I adore Tokiya and Masato’s Original Resonance and thought the reversal drama with Natsuki and Otoya was really innovative, I think TVU was the most successful. For me, it was the fact that the episode showed the boys acting like actual people in a group that got me. Very rarely do we actually see the boys fighting on screen or get frustrated with their work. Usually if they fight, it’s due to opposing personalities rather than creative directions. I think Code TVU felt the most real out of all of them (barring the sort of weird resolution). People with different personalities who have different ideas and can’t really seem to articulate why their ideas should be seen as better to other group members who are stubborn about their idea and can’t really communicate/collaborate until they hit rock bottom? That’s something I’m glad they touched on.

Relationship-wise, I think that the dynamic between Cecil and Camus is interesting, though I personally find the scenes with Camus hard to watch. It’s interesting to watch their push and pull relationship. But yeah, the whole thing with Tokiya-Otoya-Reiji is something I wish was developed a little more. There’s little hints of how Reiji feels about Tokiya and Otoya in the episode with the three of them, but it’s not really concrete so to speak, which is odd considering how open Reiji is when it comes to his charges. I do kinda wish in S3 though before Heavens got reintroduced, the series showed the boys interacting with people other than their senpais, maybe at like a party or something. They kinda hint at it, but I think it’d round out the growth of both groups well if they did. I agree with Ren and Ai gamer buddies and even athetic Syo and Otoya as a relationship. It’d help develop a ton of characters outside their “established” trope, reinforce the relationship between each of the characters, and make for cute moments and conversations. Since S4 is all about Starish and Heavens primarily, I feel like there’s a lot of missed opportunities to strengthen the Quartet Night/Starish bond before the whole rivalry-thing.

But yeah, look out for asks regarding S4 comments. I’m starting to watch those episodes.

QN definitely gets sidelined a lot for character growth, and tbh s3 is the last time you see them grow. I mean, sure, their s4 episode showed a true conflict and the resolution was kinda meh, but like. After that/???? bye QN it was nice seeing you hope to meet you again for the movie.

I kind of agree on the Code TVU [I like the song, though it falls flat in some parts], and that it showed actual conflicting ideas, etc, but I don’t think it got resolved well enough. the writing for the resolution was kind of.... rushed??? 

I’m curious to know why Camus scenes are hard for you to watch? Like, I think theirs was one of the more beneficial relationships, or at least felt the most like mentor/mentee (esp since Camus had to crash course Cecil). I do wish we got to see them interacting more too! I mean, we saw Otoya interact with the orphanage that he grew up at, and interact with kids, though if he supposedly regularly volunteers there, then why would he suddenly freeze up when a kid on set starts crying??? was it because it was being recorded and he didn’t know if they needed to pause???? like, I figured he would have known how to resolve that. I guess this is the downfall of them doing 12-13 episode seasons instead of 24/26, because while these episodes certainly don’t feel like they’d be expandable with their writing, if they were given more time to develop the characters, I think they could have filled out 24/26 episodes nicely and explained/showed some things better!

also agree on missing out on a lot of opportunities to show a bond between QN and Starish. Granted, the mobile game starts out with them all like, “wow so nice to perform together!! we have some stuff we can learn from each other” and they’r treated like respected entities, with QN being the obvious senior role, it’s just like....

you want us to like the characters and buy their merch? give us more stuff of them!!!
