Quincy Horst Headcanons (New Year Edition 🐉🇦🇺)
Hello. Happy 2024! 🎇
I still struggle to articulate my thoughts at the moment, but I want to thank everyone for the support during this 2023. 💞 I'm genuinely grateful that even if this blog remains small, there's people out there that want to listen to the silly stories I give these characters. There's so much to share yet, like the Euro B coaches and the Toro Blanco, but I have confidence I will be able to do it soon. Thank you for waiting, and on the meantime, let's talk about something else today.
Back on my main blog @/brucemarlin I remember reblogging a drawing with THE Bruce Marlin for the first post of the year 2023. Why not doing the same for here, too? Given I don't post much about Quincy Horst despite my URL, I guess this is a good way to fix it.
To clarify, this is a summarized outline. So unlike Gareth -which I divided in detailed parts-, this is a bullet point with smaller pieces, but that do explain my overall ideas with Quincy at least until the FFI. This is also a very rushed post, so forgive me for any mistakes.
Quincy was born in Kalgoorlie, the so-called aussie city of gold. However due to issues his family had to move out to Esperance later on.
Overall, the Horst family had been operating a mining company since their arrival to Australia, but lately the business has been struggling with many things, such as past controversies and their main goldmine starting to dry out.
This is where Quincy's profile comes out, he desires as to find a goldmine mainly as economical support (and a quick way to gain fame for himself). Ironically he does get into the geological aspects later on in life.
He is the 5th child in a family of 7, mostly composed of girls. The other boy in the family went already to study at Canberra, so he's absent most of the time. This led for Quincy to interact with his sisters more, obviously with the consequence of him getting mannerisms, atitude and interests that can be seen as """girly""". Not a bad thing at all, but it did gave him a hard time at school; specially from the other boys.
But unlike similar situations, Quincy did the risky thing of actually fighting his own bullies back. It didn’t end up well, and while it helped his parents realize the gravity of the situation, by that point Quincy had gotten tried.
For the rest of his adolesnce, he developed the radical choice of hating anything girly (Be interests or even just the color pink), at the same time trying to find ways to look "cooler" or "macho". Until he grew up from it, this did strain the relationship with most of his sisters; specially those he once used to play with.
But not everything was bad, at least. Around the end of Primary School, turns out Quincy's aunt started to date a man of surname Marlin, who also had a son. The boy named Bruce was quick to befriend Quincy due to their similar age and interests, so at least Quin finally had another boy to rely on. Hell, he does consider Bruce to be more of an older brother figure than his actual bro.
Thanks to him Quincy also got onto soccer, though by getting accidentally hit by one of his show-off shots. The sudden incident at least made Quincy develop interest into becoming a goalkeeper. While researching aboit the sport he soon stumbled upon Jean Baker, the keeper from Sydney whose fame was slowly growing. Finding him badass, Quin started to use him as a role-model on his training. But soon the sentiment grew from "I want to be like him" to "I will be BETTER than him C:<"
I guess that's the most essential info for now; there's still quite lots of things to talk about Quincy and his family on detail, but this is a good outline of what I have.
But, here's a little add-on, since we are on the Year of the Dragon: Since their origins, the Horst family has kept for generations the very exclusive belief of the Horst Dragon, a mythical draconic creature that has been protecting them for centuries, even when the family moved from Germany to Australia. Even to this day Mr. Horst is a firm believer of this creature, and he was succesful to pass this enthusiasm on his son. Quincy is the most passionate child about the Horst Dragon, even more than his other -skeptical- siblings. He even claims at times that the Horst Dragon helps him to guard the goal. Huh.

Reflecting my time as a student
Hello everybody Good morning/Good Afternoon/ Good Evening/ Good Night whatever is your time zone. This is my first blog on my current blog account. Frankly, I am really nervous while writing so I am really sorry if this blog is not very good. But anyways let us talk about the topic of today s' blog without wasting a second.                  Reflecting on my time as a student is today s' topic well I am a student so I decided to share my experiences as a student so all students reading my blog can avoid the same mistakes I did. I have decided to write this blog a younger crowd basically for students who completed their primary schooling and are in their first year or in the second year of secondary schooling.                  The schooling years do get tough to manage especially if you do not have a guide other than your teacher like you fall behind the projects, assignments, grades, to be honest, you also fall behind your childhood like to play just in order to complete your projects and assignments and the point where you complete all of your assignments and finally are like ''Yes I finally can enjoy'' the next day you again get more assignments and again the cycle is repeated. Look in these cases you do need a guide how can like just help you to manage your time but I know just like me many do not have a guide besides your teacher I also faced the same situation I did not have any siblings and my both the parents were working. So to help you to go through your school years smoothly here are a few tips -: Time management: Time management is a very crucial component if you are willing to have a productive lifestyle. To be honest, I have always had issues with managing my time efficiently. This problem had become a huge obstacle once I got into school. Thus, attending a lecture that focuses on time management helped me a lot with this problem by introducing me to different aspects related to time management: planning, SMART goals, and important/urgent matrix. We can use to-do lists or a set timetable I personally strictly recommend a to-do list as timetable does not work most of the times as we do get bored from them as it makes our life monotonous easily We can even use leaflets to study I am sure many of us know what leaflets are or even have a few leaflets but the main point is only a few of us know how to really use them correctly so here is a format of how to use a leaflet correctly:-
Aims of the leaflet
 • Start thinking about your own time management skills and issues • Help you start reflecting on your existing responsibilities and commitments
• Suggest effective ideas and strategies for building study into your life This leaflet is divided into the following sections:
1. Experience and reflection
2. Where to study
3. Useful tools and materials
4. Planning a term or semester
5. Planning a week
6. Making best use of study time This section will help you reflect on how you manage time, your priorities, and how to build in a study schedule that works for you. :- Think generally about the things you manage/juggle in your life at the moment. Think about how much you fit into your average day, including time spent on routine tasks, travel, TV, sleep, etc. Identify times in a week when you might fit in time to study Reflect on previous study habits: • What did you enjoy? Find useful? • What was hard/boring/an effort? • What helped?   The following reflective exercises are useful for the first week of your course. It takes a while to adapt to new routines and work out how to make study a priority in your life, and reflecting on your life and commitments, in general, is important. It means you can make realistic changes, based on self-knowledge about what works best for you. Keep a record, for a week of your course, of how you spend your time – it’s worth putting in all the details, truthfully. Make sure you note down:- • Course activities
• Your own study time
• Paid or unpaid employment
• Relaxing/socialising/TV time
• Exercise/recreation/shopping
• Domestic chores/family activities
• Travel
• Sleeping/eating You know at the end of the day it's all about you many people like a cold environment to study so they will recommend that but for you, you need a warm environment to study so the cold environment will not work for you and again you search for perfect tips to study and again you will not like a particular tip or it's just not your need for the timing and the cycle is repeated. To get perfect tips to study from you will need to search a lot and while doing it sometimes you will spend more time on searching for the tips than actually studying because everyone is different and so are your needs for everything are different from others. But you can make your own tips. So listen up clear all tips you have collected and take a break from everything like chores studying ect for a few hours and observe yourself and after observing yourself answer the following questions:- • What times of day/week do I study best?
• Was this a heavy week for study? Why?
• Did I work more effectively at home? In the library? Why?
• Did I relax when I needed to?
• Any particular pressures this week? How did I deal with them?
• What distracts me most? When?
• Do I need quiet? Music? Warm/cool room? Food?
• How often do I need breaks? (Probably more often than you think..)
• Do I work better with others or alone?
• When do I feel energetic/alert? When not?
• Anything I need to change/do differently next week? How?   After answering all the questions the answers you get THAT'S IT! they are your tips to study and they fit you perfectly It really is worth taking time over this. The better your awareness of your own study/time preferences, the easier it is to identify the best times/places in the week to slot in different types of study activity….and when not. Now think about: • Things you want to change or do differently • How effectively you used your study time • How to cut back on any other involvements which use time • Any change in priorities – and how to keep time for things you enjoy   THIS IS IT FOR THIS BLOG. If you think the blog was really useful then do follow for more blogs in the future 😄

Top 10 SEO Trends In 2021 That You must know
Tumblr media
The trend of most organizations worldwide adopting the online mode of business can be seen to be accelerating. There has been a major change in buying behavior and customer preferences for ten years as this fraternity also happened online. The combination of these two conditions makes the Internet the most extensive market currently operating in the world.
There are sellers, buyers, websites, social media platforms, blog sites, and e-commerce platforms. SEO is the most widely adopted strategy to make these buyer-seller interfaces available between competitors and the vast ocean of other open-source enterprises. The most popular practice of increasing traffic for e-commerce websites and portals is search engine optimization, both qualitatively and quantitatively, providing a high brand awareness level.
With the advancement of technology and IT trends, SEO marketers’ volume and preferences are also increasing significantly. The following few figures for 2020 may demonstrate that search engine optimization has become widespread and hence, is currently one of the most reliable tools for marketers.
53.3% of site traffic came from organic search. A small proportion of 53.3% of the 4.66 billion Internet users makes an excellent foundation for any startup or even mid-size business discovery during the development phase.
This year 92.96% of the world’s web traffic came from Google Search, Google Images, and Google Maps. This is a trend of google for netizens, which can also be beneficial for your business.
60% of marketers said that inbound approaches like SEO are the best source of quality leads with a 14.6% close rate. This is much more than any traditional marketing approach.
28% of searches by local businesses resulted in sales.
The above numbers demonstrate that the SEO aspect dominates very effectively in the industry, and hence it will continue in the coming years.
Top SEO trends in 2021
1. Increasing dependence on artificial intelligence
The AI-powered SEO tool algorithm will improve accuracy and precision in keyword research, competitor analysis, analytics, and other aspects, helping marketers accelerate the process.
AI is changing the way people interact with online content. The Google AI algorithm deserves special attention. An algorithm, called RankBrain, was introduced a few years ago that played a significant role in Google’s ranking factors for search engine result pages (SERPs).
So the biggest question is, how do you optimize SEO for RankBrain? Although the search engine giant has not disclosed details, experts believe user interaction signals are the primary determining factor. These can be factors ranging from click-through rate to time spent on the page. You need to engage your readers with useful, well-organized content. AN on-page SEO checker can help you reduce a page’s reliability on metrics such as readability, backlinks, and more.
2. Voice search technology will lead
People will rely more on Alexa and Siri than entering text in the Google search box. As a result, it will be essential to focus on the spoken keyword and create a FAQ page.
With innovations like Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri, and Amazon’s Alexa, voice search technology has come a long way. As technology has improved, it has become more and more popular. In fact, the percentage of households predicting to own a smart speaker by 2022 is 55%.
To optimize your voice search, consider your keywords. Recognize the phrases that people use in everyday conversations. Voice search is generally preferable to longer, more natural phrases when people type; they usually shorten. For example, a person may voice the query: “What are the new SEO trends for 2021?” But enter the word “new SEO trends in 2021”.
3. Search engines would prefer mobile-oriented indexing.
Your website must be mobile-friendly or mobile as Google will use the mobile version of your content to index and rank your website. Initially, desktop content was used for indexing, but the increasing dependence and use of mobile phones and search templates have changed this practice.
In 2019, Google introduced mobile-centric indexing, meaning that a search engine primarily looks at the mobile version of a website, treating it as the “core” version, not the desktop version. This change makes sense that by 2025, approximately 73% of Internet users will be accessing the Internet from mobile devices only. Test your mobile site performance with Google’s free mobile trial. Then have a look at the Mobile Usability Report in Google Search Console.
For your page to be user friendly, you need to make sure that Google can crawl your URL, so make sure you don’t have any disapproved instructions. Also, keep in mind that Googlebot will not download content that requires user interaction, such as clicking or swiping. You have to make sure that Google can see this so-called lazy content. Finally, make sure that you use the same meta robot tag on desktop and mobile sites.
4. Content should follow the Google EAT principle.
Experience, authoritativeness, trustworthiness, and reliability are the principle of Google EAT that will be tested for every content, whether on websites, blogs, or social media. If you do not follow this principle, you may not build the branding process according to your expectations.
There are many ways to provide quality content:
Create customer portraits that allow you to understand what your customers value.
Do search intent research to help you map the consumer journey.
Use this information to create content that follows the format your users prefer.
For example, if you are serving teenagers, the video may be better. If you are targeting older audiences, the video may be less appealing.
Finally, keep the EAT in mind when creating content. Support claims with statistics and facts—links to official sites such as “.edu” and “.gov” URLs. Having reciprocal links to reputable sites is another way to prove that you meet the EAT criteria.
5. Detailed content will improve search results.
Backlinks will become the preferred method in digital marketing practice and may not be sufficient to support this concise or original content. Therefore, for optimal use of backlinking practice, descriptive or lengthy content would be beneficial for ranking well in SERPs.
6. Selected parts will get prominence.
Research by HubSpot found that the CTR for their high-volume keywords rose more than 114% when the results appeared as printed snippets. The featured snippet is an annotation of a copy of the content you share that appears when the user searches for something. Instead of hyperlinks, snippets are much more attractive and can therefore gain prominence.
7. Smart Search will increase
As technology accelerates the life model, so should search options. Smart search matches search queries with the intent of the user. It is an AI implementation in which the algorithm continues to record searches performed by the device user and suggests relevant searches after the user enters a word or two.
8. Will lead image and video optimization.
Image or video search was already a trend in 2020, and it will go viral in 2021 as people will want to get more information with less typing. As a result, they can take snapshots of articles they need to feed or know to search. Therefore, your website should comply with such requests.
9. Zero – Click Search
This is known as the zero-click search but can also be called the zero-sum search, where one player wins, and all others lose.
Zero-click search is a search where Google answers appear at the top of search engine result pages (SERPs) so that users no longer need to click on a website. The only site presented was that provided an official answer.
What difference does it make? Are people not being targeted to click on your site for more information? Why would Google record your content in a way that does not attract visitors to your site?
Well, this is important for two reasons. First, it has reduced search engine traffic for many websites. This is not good. Second, it opened up an opportunity for small businesses to get traffic if they were not the first search result for a given query. Even after getting the answer in SERP itself, many people will still click on the reference. They will click to read additional information from the website in a featured snippet instead of the top search results page.
Additionally, these select snippets serve as free promotion for your company. You build brand awareness, and even better, you can do it for free, creating useful content using your industry knowledge.
10. Google passage rating
Although Google announced a new conversion rate in October, it is scheduled to be released in 2021. With zero-click search, the goal here is to help users find the exact information they need.
The idea is that a page is dedicated exclusively to the topic you are looking for and is not valuable as a separate page. If you want to install a dimmer, the best instructions page may also contain instructions from an electrician for many other DIY electrical projects. Instead of deciding that this page doesn’t really matter because it covers a wide range of topics, it ranks higher in SERPs.
It is anticipated that this change will primarily target long-tail searches, so traffic may not be high. However, these can help search term conversions.
Core Web Vitals
Core Web Vitals is probably one of the most significant updates we can expect in 2021. Everything that Google has told you over the years is essential to the user experience that will become the official ranking signal.
11. If you want to stay ahead of the rankings, data and analytics should be your priority.
Data science enables you to understand shoppers, visualize campaigns and create targeted messages. Analytics can help you check which URLs are being crawled, identify referral sources, check page load time, indexing, redirects, bounce rates, response errors, and more. You can also use data science to identify pages that you do not want to crawl indexing and expose unusual traffic sources such as potential spam sites (which will reduce your EAT reliability).
You have to keep an eye on SEO current trends and adjust your strategies to the new challenges, pretty much always. That’s the only way you can give valuable content to users that keep them coming back and also keep your ranking. My Dream Is Yours (1949)
Decades come and go, but Hollywood will never stop churning out films where the protagonists become stars in show biz. Often, these films are musicals – and so it is with Michael Curtiz’s My Dream Is Yours, starring Jack Carson, Doris Day, and Lee Bowman. Doris Day, to most who are superficially knowledgeable about her acting career, conjures up images of a virginal blonde with an incredible singing voice. That reputation – ignoring the saucy comedies she made in the late’50s and 1960s – was created largely from the musicals she made while contracted to Warner Bros., including the subject of this review. In what seems to be a by-the-numbers musical of an aspiring singer seeking a radio and recording career, My Dream Is Yours is surprisingly unimpressed with Hollywood glamor. The film prefers to concentrate on professional jealousy and infighting over artistic taste to an extent unimaginable if made by another other Hollywood studio at that time.
In Los Angeles, Gary Mitchell (Lee Bowman) is a popular radio singer, a regular on Hour of Enchantment. Financial and personal disagreements lead Gary to break with his native talent agency led by Felix Hofer (S.Z. Sakall) and his right-hand man Thomas Hutchins (Adolphe Menjou). In this surprise turn of events, Gary will also fire his manager, Doug Blake (Jack Carson), who reports to Thomas. Out of desperation, Doug hops on a plane to New York City to find a replacement act. After what is looking like a futile search, Doug is about to capitulate when he hears the voice of jukebox factory employee and war widow Martha Gibson (Day). Martha agrees to pursue her dreams to be a radio singer and is forced to leave her son back in New York under the care her brother. The plot becomes convoluted from here.
Though the plot, after a certain point, is not worth straining one’s mind over, My Dream Is Yours presents the radio/recording industry comically – consumed with profits and using a predictable jargon and tone of voice to sell products. The film’s three leads are beholden to this Hollywood capitalism. Gary and Doug are particularly impacted, as the latter contends with the former’s outsized and flirtatious ego. For Doris Day’s Martha, she is presented as the debutant and must conform to what the audience and the industry expect of a female singer. Accompanying Martha in many radio performances is a proper and prim all-female orchestra conducted by a gruff woman – a surprise to viewers then (when watching musical ensemble performances of the early and mid-twentieth century, female instrumentalists are rare unless they are harpists) and now. Nevertheless, My Dream Is Yours was written only by one woman (Laura Kerr; 1947’s The Farmer’s Daughter and 1953’s Battle Circus) from a screenwriting team of several, and the film almost commits to tell a woman’s story. But other than Martha’s conflicted emotions of leaving her only child in New York City with a relative, the film never truly follows through. The cynicism of My Dream Is Yours remains intact, in comedic elements, but this is a story messily told.
Considering her reputation, it may surprise viewers that Day is credited second behind Jack Carson. This is Day’s second feature film after her debut Romance on the High Seas (1948). In the span of ten months between her first two films, Warner Bros. could not have imagined how instantly popular Day would become (even with her successful radio career, which her character’s trajectory mirrors at times) – hence her second billing behind Carson. Caron and Day’s performances are acceptable; the film’s collection of character actors keep the film watchable. Veteran actor Edgar Kennedy, in a brief role as Uncle Charlie, appears in his final film. Warner Bros. mainstay S.Z. Sakall, a Hungarian-American actor who could dependably be found in the studio’s comedies and musicals (usually as some sort of giddy impresario, although “giddy” does not describe his character in My Dream Is Yours), plays up his Eastern European accent for this movie. As Felix Hofer, Sakall’s thicker accent and communicative style makes Martha’s ambitions of breaking through as a music recording star less attainable than they seem. Stardom in My Dream Is Yours is not achieved simply by a jaunty musical number or farcical humor as one might find in a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) or 20th Century Fox musical of the same era (even though there is a hilarious bit of farce when Doug attempts to meet Martha in New York City for the first time).
youtube
My Dream Is Yours is best remembered today for a peculiar musical number featuring Bugs Bunny and a cameo by Tweety Bird. This Friz Freleng-directed number, “Freddie, Get Ready”, is Warner Bros.’ response to MGM’s dancing duet of Gene Kelly and Jerry Mouse in Anchors Aweigh (1945). Featuring Bugs Bunny, the song plays in a dream sequence as Martha’s son, Freddie, dozes off for the night before Easter. There is not much context or lead-up to Bugs’ appearance, other than the fact that Doug reads Freddie a bedtime story to sleep from a Bugs Bunny book. The novelty lyrics, so divorced from the film’s plot (the fact that Easter is upcoming does not factor largely in this movie), are sung by Doris Day, Jack Carson, and Bugs (voiced by Mel Blanc); the melody is based on Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. I personally am not a fan of novelty songs – prevalent in numerous ‘40s musicals, including this one for reasons integral to the story – so I wish that composer/arranger Harry Warren and lyricist Ralph Blane had crafted a song that could hold its own outside the film’s bounds.
But that is where Warren and Blane’s title song, “My Dream Is Yours” comes in. The film’s title song provides both Doris Day and Lee Bowman (dubbed by Hal Derwin) a decent love ballad to exemplify their artistry and a moment where the film outlines its primary themes. Day’s voice, the epitome of gently confident grace, is suited to all of Warren and Blane’s songs – novelty and otherwise. Day, as the self-sacrificing decisions Martha, must make – familial, financial, artistic – are probed by Curtiz and the screenplay, with no definitive answers or resolutions provided for any of the film’s characters. My Dream Is Yours contains a template that may have been influenced by the dynamics of United Artists’ original version of A Star Is Born (1937) – and Curtiz’s film may also have later influenced the 1954 Warner Bros. A Star Is Born remake with Judy Garland. Curtiz’s film certainly resonates, and we know this because director Martin Scorsese has admitted as much. My Dream Is Yours was a major influence on Scorsese’s lesser-known musical New York, New York (1977) – an homage to the mid-century Hollywood musical combined with Scorsese’s mid-‘70s Gotham grit.
The bitterness that simmers beneath the surface of My Dream Is Yours is unusual for a 1940s musical, making the film far from your typical Doris Day star vehicle. Professional and personal relationships are strained, familial duties are neglected, and one can only buck audience expectations so much without risking the ire of the public or one’s bosses. The separation of daughter and mother intentionally refers to Day’s personal life – when she first became a radio star, she was forced to leave her son, Terry, to the care of his grandmother; Day seldom saw her son in these early years and would only begin to bridge this chasm after signing a lucrative contract with Warner Bros by having Terry move to Burbank with her.
My Dream Is Yours is not a top flight Warner Bros. musical by any means. But its focus on a professional woman struggling with the artistic and personal dilemmas of being a public musical figure – without the unbelievably convenient contrivances that a lesser musical might feature – is commendable. Received warmly by audiences but without too much fanfare, My Dream Is Yours was a modest success in Doris Day’s early film career and – given the standard he had set for himself with Dodge City (1939) and Casablanca (1942) – the continuation of Michael Curtiz’s late-career decline. By the end of the of the decade, Doris Day would become one of the most bankable actresses in Hollywood and demonstrate her dramatic, comedic, and musical acumen for a notoriously fickle industry.
My rating: 6.5/10

Want Traffic For Your Website? Use These Seo Tiips
A lot of people have an idea of what search engine optimization is but aren't sure what to do and how to be successful with search engine optimization. The thing about search engine optimization is that the more you know, the better chance you have at being successful with search engine optimization. Take note from this article and see what you can learn that can help you with your search engine optimization goals.
When you are trying to achieve Search Engine Optimization, do not forget the importance of the description meta-tag. This means you must have excellent grammar and no typo's in the meta-tag. It should include at least two of your key-phrases. While the title of your site is critical in search results, an internet searcher will read the description to make their final decision on which site to click on.
To improve search engine optimization, consider repeating the primary keyword or keywords for your web page, in all of the page titles. For example, if you are a running coach, you may want to title your pages "Running Form," "Running Therapy," "Running Tips," "Running Groups" or something similar. Repeating your primary keyword, indicates to search engines that this keyword is very important.
To help your SEO, always provide a 301 redirect for any URLs you retire or change. Search engines respond to messages sent from the servers of no-longer-existing sites, and 404 page errors hurt your ranking the most. Using a 301 redirect ensures search engines note the URL change and use the page ranking results associated with the old URL.
Do not duplicate content within your site to try to get more pages into the search rankings. This is considered spamming by the search engines and can get you banned. Keep making unique content for your keywords on different pages to add more of your site to the index of the search engines.
Getting your website to come up in search results is a science. One way to acheive this is to use content marketing. Fill your site with free information that is relevant to your product or service and the traffic you want to attract. Remember to keep it relevant and current.
There are two coding strategies that can really improve your search engine results: the NoFollow tag and the robots.txt file. Both of these features tell search engines not to index parts of your site. This might seem counter-productive, but using them to block off the areas that contain few links and little content you can force search engines to concentrate on the most important parts of your website.
Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, might sound confusing but with a little practice it can become something that is more than easy! SEO involves writing articles with keywords in the proper place and with the right amount of keyword density. Search engine optimization can be accelerated with backlinks, tags and even social networking. You have to pay more attention to how your articles and content are being written!
Search engine optimization is important for online success. It helps you rank highly on search engines and if anybody it going to buy your product, click your ads or even give you a donation they absolutely have to be able to find your website in the first place. Most people do go beyond the first search results page and rarely beyond the second page. Do yourself a favor and make your webpage more available to potential readers with SEO.
Pay attention to where you links go and where your homepage is. If you have a suffix appended to the URL for your homepage, such as "index.html", you could be harming your search engine rankings. best link building will most likely not include the suffix, while internal links will, which causes the spiders to see fewer links to both locations.
You should make sure to have a site map if your site is very large. This should be linked to from each and every page of your site. This will assist the search engine bots in finding any page from your site in only two clicks.
While it is normally not a good idea to write an article that most people would consider to be much too wordy, that will actually be something that it is in your favor when it comes to SEO. The fact is that the longer the article is the better in this situation.
Research your keywords before you begin your search engine optimization project. There are free programs that you can find online to use, but if you have the funds, consider using a paid program. They provide a better quality of results. Look to see the how the keywords compare to each other.
Keep your website fresh by adding new content on a regular basis. Remember that a website is not static like a print ad. You need to keep adding new knowledge and information that will benefit your visitors and make them feel that there is always something new to learn by visiting your site.
Interlinking within your own site can help to ensure proper search engine optimization. You can link certain keyword phrases to related pages, and this will help improve your site rankings. Don't use generic keywords for this. Try and make them unique.
A great search engine optimization tip that everyone would be wise to use is to make sure that any keywords or keyword phrases that you use in your title, are also in the body of your webpage. Search engines penalize websites whose title keywords do not match up with the content of the copy.
Tumblr media
Having a wide array of links on your website is crucial in the SEO world. You want your links to be as diverse as possible; such as sets of links to all kinds of different sites like social media sites, blogs, and message forums. Also be careful of going overboard with reciprocal links.
Hopefully, now that you have a better idea of what to do when it comes to search engine optimization, you have an idea of what strategies you want to implement towards your success. Apply all that you learned about search engine optimization from this article and success should follow before you know it.

“Ultimates Play” (a.k.a. Let’s Player AU)
Hey, Mod Snake here! So I realize that I’ve been sort of lax on my part in the 2K celebration. This has been mostly to the fact that I’ve been working on my senior thesis, and it’s been absolute hell trying to motivate myself to do anything with that nightmare hanging over my head. But now the thesis is officially over and I can finally get around to posting something I’ve been meaning to post for a while: an AU concept called “Ultimates Play!” The idea of this AU is similar to the Talent Development Plan ‘verse, except that the DR1, SDR2, and NDRV3 characters share a gaming channel on YouTube called ‘Ultimates Play’. Over the years since it started, the channel has evolved into sort of a Rooster Teeth-style project, with dozens of different series done by many different hosts. There’s a lot to unpack here, so let’s just jump right in!
General Concepts:
As you can imagine, Chiaki was the one to set up the channel; in fact, the channel was originally called “Chiaki’s Gaming Corner”, and the channel URL still reflects this. Hajime quickly became involved in the editing process, since Chiaki would frequently fall asleep before uploading the videos. Chiaki then gradually began introducing her fellow classmates, who had become interested in the games during Class 77’s meet-up times (everyone involved refuses to call them “classes”), as hosts of their own series; before long, this spread to other classes entirely. And thus, Ultimates Play was born.
Junko in this AU is still technically in despair, but the passion for video games she developed after spending some time with Chiaki helps keep her Ultimate Analyst abilities occupied, preventing her from becoming bored enough to lash out at the world. She is still extremely competitive and aggressive, particularly towards Mukuro, but in general it is typically safe to be in the same building as her.
This AU uses the “Class 79” canon for the V3 kids, similar to the Ultimate Talent Development Plan, since the Tragedy doesn’t happen in this AU.
As the channel started to get big, the group decides they need a headquarters in which to stay; they end up building it a few blocks away from Hope’s Peak. Very few of them live in the building full-time, but the building is equipped with dozens of beds anyway just in case they all happen to crash there overnight at the same time. There are also multiple TVs, so that different students can record series at the same time.
The channel is one of the top 10 most subscribed channels on YouTube, due in part to the variety of content. Of the series, Chiaki’s and Ibuki’s typically have the most views, while Celeste’s and Hajime’s have the least views.
Even though Komaru isn’t technically an Ultimate, Makoto and Toko both begged Chiaki until she was allowed to join the channel.
Individual Series:
Makoto and Kyoko have “Detective Training,” in which they play mystery games together; typically these consist of point-and-click adventure games, although sometimes they’ll do other genres if there is a sufficient mystery element. Kyoko almost always figures out the entire mystery from the start, so she basically spends the whole time trying not to spoil the twists and puzzles for Makoto. Shuichi occasionally guest stars, but he’s too self-conscious around Kyoko to make regular appearances.
Sakaya and Kaede share a series where they play rhythm games like DDR, as well as general music-themed games like Rockband; they alternate off randomly between which one is the host, never appearing in the same episode.
Toko’s primary series is “Toko’s Shovelware Spectacular”, in which she plays the worst of the worst games on the iPhone and Android app stores. Komaru makes an appearance every time there’s a multiplayer game, or whenever Toko is so genuinely shocked by a game’s shittiness that she needs a second person to confirm she’s not imagining things.
Neither Togami nor the Ultimate Imposter have a consistent theme for their series (although they tend towards real-time strategy games); however, there is something of a running joke between them. Every time Togami uploads a video on a game, Twogami will then upload a video on the same game, starting off from the same place Togami left off and claiming to be the next installment. Togami is consistently infuriated by this, but he can’t figure out how to stop it. There’s a running debate in the comments about whether the ‘second Togami’ is actually a distinct entity or just Togami playing an elaborate practical joke; this, for Togami, is the worst part of the whole thing.
Ishimaru has a series called “Upholders of Justice”, in which he plays crime-themed games (GTA, Saint’s Row, etc.) while breaking as few laws as the game will allow him to. If you’ve ever seen the Saints Row the Third episode of Monster Factory, it’s sort of like that.
Hifumi and Kazuichi have a shared series called “Love Quest 3000”, in which they play dating sims together; this is ostensibly for the purpose of figuring out how to get better at real romance, but they have yet to achieve any success in this field.
Celeste has a recurring series on gambling games, such as video poker and virtual slot machines. To her eternal fury, they are by far the least-viewed videos on the entire channel; this may be because she always wins, or because her commentary consists almost entirely of A) ‘advice’ on how to win at gambling (which boils down to “be lucky and don’t panic”), and B) reiterations of how successful she is.
While Junko doesn’t actually have a standalone series, there is a playlist named “With Junko” on the channel. This is because, rather than star in her own series, Junko will occasionally crash episodes of other series and serve as a guest commentator for the episode, typically without the approval or knowledge of the players in question. HOWEVER, Junko does co-star in a regular series called “Rose and Thorns”, in which she and Mukuro play co-op games like Portal 2 and New Super Mario Bros. You can probably imagine how well their interactions go.
Hajime did an Undertale LP.
In her continuing effort to be the most meta human being in the universe, Ibuki has only a single ongoing series: “Ibuki Plays Danganronpa”. At no point in the series does she comment on the fact that her fellow Ultimates- and indeed herself- appear in the games; the closest she comes is her DR2 LP, in which she off-handedly remarks on the similarities between herself and Ibuki in the game. There is only one exception: every time game-Ibuki’s corpse is on-screen in Chapter 3, real-Ibuki goes absolutely silent until the scene changes or she turns away. None of the other Ultimates can figure out where the hell she got these games, and she refuses to provide a straight answer.
Hiyoko and Mikan, of all people, have a shared series entitled “Super Bestest Friends Play!”; it consists pretty much entirely of Hiyoko forcing Mikan to play the weird Flash games you find on various “gaming” websites (i.e. bootleg Frozen games and the like). Hiyoko uploaded the first episode without permission from the others, and promptly found herself being threatened with stabbing by Maki, who is always on watch to make sure things don’t get too upsetting for Mikan; every once in a while you’ll hear a soft click in the background of the episodes, at which point Hiyoko will immediately and urgently apologize to Mikan and suggest a tamer game. Also, every once in a while the situation gets shaken up a bit: on at least a couple of occasions Mikan very visibly starts getting aroused by the games in question, which freaks Hiyoko out more than anything else the other Ultimates have ever seen (this is the main reason they allow the series to persist).
Gundham and Sonia have an ongoing series in which they play horror games together. Gundham constantly pretends not to be freaked out by the jumpscares, even though he is. Sonia constantly pretends to be freaked out by the atmosphere, even though she’s not. They are exactly as adorable together as you can imagine.
Gundham also has a recurring Pokémon series, covering at least one game from every Generation. He makes a dedicated effort to capture one of every Pokémon, and at the end of each playthrough he hacks in any that he can’t obtain legitimately that Gen. His videos are each at least an hour long because he can’t make himself stop playing with his Pokémon. He also cites Pokémon-Amie as the single greatest innovation in the history of the franchise.
As more and more shows started appearing on the channel, Chiaki started putting out less and less content- which suits her just fine, since it gives her more chances to play games with herself and her friends, without having to worry about making entertaining commentary. Her only ongoing series at the time of the AU is a gaming news show, where she reports on announcements about games she’s interested in, as well as discussions about what she’d like out of future games. Hajime is a recurring guest star on the series.
Komaru has a series where she plays whatever games she happens to like at the time; most of these are Nintendo games, and almost all of them are on the casual end of the spectrum. Toko regularly drops in without warning.
Mitarai has an ongoing visual novel review series, which frequently devolves into tips about drawing and commentary on anime he likes or dislikes.
Himiko has a series of RPG playthroughs, many of them unfinished. The only playthroughs she will consistently finish are Final Fantasy games, since they’re Tenko’s favorites. She also did exactly three episodes of a Kingdom Hearts LP before abandoning it, citing the story being too confusing.
Maki has a recurring series in which she plays first-person shooters in order to test their accuracy. To the hastily-suppressed delight of Kokichi (and the well-disguised amusement of everyone else in the building), Maki usually turns out to be absolutely terrible at these games, being so used to real combat situations that she can’t adapt to the artistic license of most FPS’s.
Kokichi Oma has only one series, which is entitled “Kokichi Plays Minecraft”. The series is well over a hundred episodes long, and not a single damn second of that is from Minecraft. Instead, every episode is taken from a different game, with no apparent pattern; each episode has Kokichi acting as if he’s been playing this game for several episodes, as well as alluding to various incidents that happened previously in the game (which, of course, the audience doesn’t get to see).
Tsumugi’s series is literally just makeup tutorials for cosplayers. She doesn’t seem to realize that it’s otherwise pretty much exclusively a gaming channel, and no one else has bothered to tell her.
There are plenty of other series not listed here, including some that pop up without warning and only air one or two episodes before ending. In general, every character from the games has at least one recurring series, each with wildly different schedules.
One series in particular doesn’t have a single consistent host; it’s called “Ultimate Date Night”, and the commentary role shifts between various couples within the group- Akane and Nekomaru, Himiko and Tenko, Sonia and Gundham, Kokichi and Shuichi- as they play various cooperative and competitive games together. There is also a spin-off series called “Double Date”, in which two such couples square off in team-based competitive games.
Other Headcanons:
At one point, Hifumi and Kazuichi definitely played Doki Doki Literature Club, and spent the second half of the series alternately screaming and crying. They were not ready.
For one April Fools’ Day, everyone on the channel traded series for the day; Makoto and Kyoko hosted “Love Quest 3000”, Celeste and Ishimaru hosted “Super Bestest Friends Play!”, Hiyoko and Mikan hosted the horror game series, Maki hosted “Detective Training” (with special guests Kaito and Maki), and so on. The only exception to this was Kokichi; the thumbnail for his video showed Mukuro as the host, but Kokichi introduces himself as usual at the start of the video and does his usual thing. Also, Junko cameoed on multiple series that day.
Makoto and Kyoko definitely played through Ghost Trick together, and Makoto cried multiple times throughout the game, particularly near the ending.
The only time anyone in the group has ever seen Junko legitimately cry is that one time when Mukuro beat her at Mario Kart 8. Mukuro has never let her forget that day.
Maki was banned from “Double Date” after her first and only appearance ended with extensive property damage and Fuyuhiko (who was on the other team with Peko) being rushed to the hospital with multiple broken bones.
Games Komaru has played include Super Mario Galaxy (finished, though not 100%), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (unfinished), Thomas Was Alone, and Miitopia.
Chisa regularly visits the Ultimates Play headquarters, bringing snacks and encouragement. Everyone is happy to see her, even Togami and Kokichi.
Himiko was the first non-Class 77 member of the channel; no one is quite sure how she ended up joining, least of all Himiko.
Let us know if you like this idea, and if you have other headcanons regarding this AU! Maybe you’ll get featured in a follow-up post or something; who knows? Anyway, hope you enjoyed whatever this was!

Evaluation:
Your grade is based out of 130 points. To keep things simple, any 1 point that you receive on assignments will be exactly equal to 1 point on your final grade.
Points are rewarded for completing the following tasks:
A)        Attendance: 11 points
This class meets 11 times during summer session I. Each time you virtually attend a seminar you will receive 1 point.
Log in on time! The fact that the course is online does not remove the punctuality norms of a standard university class.
Missed broadcasts: If you have a legitimate reason for missing a seminar, you must contact me before class and arrange how to make it up.
B)          Watching Educational Youtube Videos: 11 points
Throughout the course, I will be posting videos from a variety of science youtubers. I will also be posting tutorials I have made about how to complete specific assignments. You are required to watch all of these videos. Think of this as your textbook for the class.
There is much more excellent content on youtube that I could ever provide you links to. You are strongly encouraged to explore on your own. Watching many videos, from many genera and styles, is one of the best ways to improve your content and develop a unique video voice. You are also required to watch the videos your classmates make.
At the end of the class you will be asked to submit a word document enumerating a list of all the videos you watched during summer session 1. Here is a video tutorial about how to generate a list of watched videos from your youtube history.
Points will be rewarded based on the number of videos you watch. You will be rewarded between 1 and 11 points for this video list assignment. The more videos you watch, the higher this portion of your grade will be. If there are videos in your history you would prefer I do not know you have watched, simply remove them from the list before submitting it.
This is not meant to be tricky or invasive. I won’t be closely scrutinizing your watching decisions closely – I’m just going to skim the list at the end of the semester to make sure that you engaged with the content of the class.
C)        Educational Videos: 72 points
You will be submitting 9 videos this semester, 7 of which will be graded by your peers. A video is due each lecture. Each peer reviewed video is worth 9 points, except your final video which is worth 18. Your final grade for each video will be the average of the grades your peers assign.
You will be provided with much more information in the coming days about what is expected from these videos. For now, here is an abbreviated rubric to give you a sense of how your videos will be evaluated.
Video grading rubric:
Your videos will be graded on a 9 point scale. Grades are based on the following qualities:
Clarity(1-3 points): Your communication should be clear and accurate. Use simple language. Focus on brevity. A video in this class should not be longer than 4 minutes unless absolutely necessary. Your communication should be quick, with no time wasted. Videos which are longer are usually boring. Make sure you have an explicitly stated focus. Your video should have an overall thesis, and every second of the video should be in service to that thesis.
Creativity(1-3 points): Your video should have aesthetic quality, and use novel techniques to keep the viewers’ attention. Use animations, props, and other secondary visual cues to make your point twice, once with words, once with visuals. Unusual titling, effective animation, illustrations, novel props, and innovative cinematography are some of the many ways to make your video unique.
Technical skill(1-3 points): Your videos should utilize basic editing and cinematography techniques to ensure your content is tight and easy to watch. Cuts should be clean, with no pauses in between shots. Speakers should be framed using the rule of thirds. Titles and other post production content should be well timed.
Descriptions of videos receiving various grades:
9: A video which receives the full 9 points will be promoted and published on the class youtube channel. A 9 point video is short, accurate, and has a clear thesis. The editing is clean, and it uses creative visual methods to reinforce the points made by the narrator. The video has an engaging thumbnail and title.
8: A 8 point video is accurate and clear, but may be slightly too long. The editing is clean, and efficient, but not necessarily innovative. Narration is reinforced by secondary visual cues effectively, but minimally. The video has an engaging thumbnail and title.
6: A 6 point video is mostly accurate and fairly easy to follow, but there may be small factual errors or ambiguities. Editing is clean, but could be better reinforced by more elaborate secondary visual cues. The video could be improved if it were shortened.
4: A 4 point video gets the job done, but there may be factual errors which undermine it. Or, while the details of the video may be accurate, it may be rather simple, and not explain very much. The video may lack a clear thesis or a sense of focus. Editing could be tightened, and the narration could be significantly improved by secondary visual cues.
3: A 3 point video needs improvement. It has factual errors and does not synthesize the subject into a cohesive story. If the video has a thesis, or much of the video is tangential and does not argue the thesis well. The pace of the video is slow, with little done during editing to hold the viewers’ attention.
0: A 0 point video is incomplete or never uploaded.
E)          Effort and Improvement: 36 points
A critical note about grades: Grades do not represent your worth as a human being.
Grades exist for institutional reasons, not human reasons. Grades exist so that institutions can communicate about their educational caliber. Grades do not reflect how much you know, they reflect how well you were able to adapt your scholastic efforts to the university system.
I do not appreciate student concerns about low grades. I think worrying about your grade misses the point. Grades are there motivate you, not to measure you. If you receive a low grade, interpret the grade as a message to try harder, not a message that you are inadequate in some way. This point bears repeating: Grades in this class are a motivational tool, not a measurement.
The 36 points dedicated to effort and improvement are there to make the motivational purpose of grades explicit. These are points I will award to you at the end of the semester holistically, based on how hard you tried, and how much your videos improved over the course of the semester. In grading this section, I will pay particular attention to your first and last videos as an indication of your passion for the course material and your improvement over time.
I don’t care if your grades are high or low. I care that you are learning, and that you can do something at the end of this class that you could not do at the beginning. 36 points is the difference between a C and an A. As long as you demonstrate to me that you are trying your best, and that you are learning, then you will receive most of these 36 points.
So do not be concerned about low grades. The grading structure is built so that any student who is working hard will do well. If you do not work hard, you will not do well, and if you try your best, your final grade will reflect it. It’s really that simple.
Grade Summary:
11 (Attendance) + 11 (Video Watch History) + 72 (Videos) + 36 (Effort) = 130 points
 A+ 126-130, A 121-125, A- 116-120, B+ 111-115, B 106-110, B- 101-105, C+  96-100, C 91-95 C- 86-90, D+ 81-85
A note on writing:
The deliverables of this class come in video form, but this means that your writing actually needs to be of higher quality. The fact that you will be speaking your words doesn’t let you off the hook, it constrains what kind of things you can write so that they are clear and easily vocalizable. Script writing is hard. I recommend that you read everything aloud that you write, to make sure it sounds good. I am available for extra help on script writing by appointment.

Gradblr Challenge Intro/Day 1/2 Challenges
Since I was on vacation this weekend, I’m combining my intro and Day 1 post for the @gradblrchallenge. I’m sorry for being late; it seems to be part of my SOP right now and hopefully participating in this challenge helps me with that!
Introduction:
Name: Laura
Location: US
Area/Level of Study: Biomedical Science PhD (6th and final year!)
Subject Area: Novel regulators of skeletal muscle growth and metabolism
What do you hope to accomplish with this challenge: I’d like to restore some motivation and get over some recent inertia both in the lab and in my writing. By the end of the challenge, I’d like to have a solid first draft of my 2nd first-author paper that’s more or less ready to submit, and to have started the series of studies that will make up the backbone of my 3rd first-author paper. There’s a lot of pilot study-type work and model development that needs to be done there, so you’ll see a lot of animal breeding-related goals and a variety of goals related to developing these alternative systems to study this growth phenomenon in my animal model, as well as writing deadlines that I’ll be setting for myself. I’ll also include personal goals along the way, because while work-life balance for me tends to be a little unbalanced, I’ve got some personal projects I’d like to keep up with and personal relationships that I’ve neglected that I’d like to get back to maintaining.
Is this your first #gradblrchallenge: No, I did one in 2017 which really helped me motivate myself to get out of what appears to be a seasonal slump for me.
Places you wish to visit in a near future: Less wish, more just excited about. In November, I’ll finally get to see the Grand Canyon. I’ve been to over half the states and within 100 miles of it before and just never got around to it, so I’m pretty excited. On a more distant-but-still-exciting list is visiting France, where one of my close friends from undergrad is moving in September and one of my close friends from lab is returning in December.
Where do you see you self in five years: Working toward establishing my career in academia, either as a senior postdoc or junior faculty. I know it’s competitive, underpaid, and includes a lot of external pressure and because of that it’s become an unpopular career choice at least among my cohort, but I really enjoy mentoring undergraduates and I enjoy the creative freedom that academia allows in setting your own research goals.
Meaning behind your url: It seemed funny in 2010, and now it’s just my tumblr identity.
A random fact about you: One of my favorite ridiculous hobbies is midnight gardening, and my tomatoes are a source of personal pride.
Day 1/2/Weekly Challenge(s):
On to the challenges I’m setting for tomorrow, which I’m counting as my Day 1 because today was just coming back from vacation:
Read the reviews my PI sent me today and pick out specific studies to read more deeply
Draft new figures for the paper that incorporate data from a different cell line
Set up 7 breedings and update breeding sheet
Compile list of equipment necessary for primary cell isolations
Draft experimental plan/rationale for each and their goals for incorporation into the next paper (to be completed by Friday, partially  based on papers chosen above)
Personal Life: Move large furniture back to house from garage (recent renovations meant everything was moved out of the house for a while, and we can finally move it back in!)
Anyway, here we go, and thanks to @gradblrchallenge for organizing this again!

Improve Your Website's Branding with New Domain Extensions
Guest post by Alisha Shibli Radix Content Marketing Specialist
In today’s business world, few terms or concepts are as pervasive—even sacred—as your brand.  So, what is a brand, really? It’s not a logo or a slogan or the colors you choose. Your brand is the sum of others’ experiences with you. It’s all the emotions people conjure when they think of you.
How your brand feels to others is not completely in your control. But you can take steps to influence how your brand is perceived and deliver an experience that matches the audience’s positive perception to create brand resonance. Lately most of this experience is happening in the online world. So the question arises: Where is your brand in the digital space?
The short answer is that it’s everywhere.
The longer answer is that when it comes to the online world, your brand is anywhere people engage with you or talk about you. Usually, your website will be the main source of all conversations because it’s where customers come to learn about your company. This is one of the reasons why your web address has to be spectacular -- it’s creating  the first impression of your business.
As a consequence, brands are investing heavily in building a strong digital persona, with each new marketing campaign having its own website, microsite or a landing page. Amidst all this noise, it becomes more and more difficult to be effectively heard.
Tumblr media
How Do You Brand Your Website?
The first step to website branding is getting the right domain name, more specifically, the right domain extension.
Over the last couple of decades, a multitude of businesses have claimed some really good domain names; forcing newcomers to scramble for a consolation web address. While this not-so-great web address might look like a reasonable solution on paper; in reality, it winds up being long, unwieldy, difficult to say or spell, and hard to print on business cards.
Luckily, where there used to be scarcity in online naming options, there are now more than 1,200 new domain extensions available. Options such as .TECH, .STORE, .FUN, .SPACE, .PRESS, .WEBSITE, and .ONLINE are doing an incredible job of making business web addresses look brandable, cool and functional.
It’s disheartening when the name you want isn’t available. That’s where these new options come to play. They are not just a last resort—they’re a primary choice for businesses as large as Emirates (www.emirates.store) and Google (www.abc.xyz).
New Domain Extensions are Branding Magic
“If a phrase is easy to say and spell, it can be as memorable—or more memorable—than single-word names,” says Margaret Wolfson, founder and creative director at River + Wolf, a verbal and visual branding firm based in New York City. “Using the final word of the phrase makes the name kinder on typing fingers, an important factor to consider in today’s world of digital media.”
One of the ways to make your name kinder and your branding more effective is to have domain extensions that define your core competence. That’s what makes your brand name more meaningful, memorable and searchable. Additionally, one of the biggest benefits of new domain extensions is that the most desirable names are likely to be available on relevant extensions such as .TECH, .STORE and .FUN.
New Domains for Branding Links or Shortened URLs
A branded link is simply a short link – a shorter version of a URL you want to share online (especially on platforms like Twitter with limited character limits) - built around a brand name or related term.
URL shorteners are a part of link management that should be considered for every business that is interested in establishing their brand and building a positive image. Branded links help to:
Direct your readers and visitors to updated, relevant content they are looking for
Avoid looking spammy and instead come across as someone who is ahead of the curve
Stand out on social media -- to say more in less characters
With URL shortening services, brands now have the option to use a shortened link that not only highlights their brand name, but also the content that they share; reinforcing brand awareness and enhancing their brand recognition.
New Domains for Branding Email Addresses
Your email address conveys a lot about your brand. It may seem like a tiny detail in the larger branding picture, but it’s supremely important. Having one of the new domain extensions as your website URL can help your brand stand out from the crowd. Your email addresses will start incorporating that domain extension, making your email look intriguing, reliable and trustworthy. In these times of information overload, anything that stands out will facilitate a better engagement rate.
New Domains for Branding Products or Services
If you’re selling products or services, particularly if you’re promoting them individually, then it’s a worthwhile investment to secure those names as domains in relevant domain extensions. These can be specialized landing pages for those products and guide your customers into a sales funnel, either on a separate site or your primary website. You can also redirect the domains to specific pages or sections of your website.
Amazon did this with the Kindle. The www.kindle.store redirects you to the relevant page on their main website.
In these innovative ways, brands are investing heavily in tools and resources that help them build a strong digital brand. For example, a motor brand launching a “fun” new car could choose carname.FUN and promote it heavily to hammer the positioning well in the consumer’s mind. On the other hand, a co-working space could choose a .SPACE domain to make the website address keyword rich, yet short and memorable.
The bottom line is: Your domain name communicates an integral message about your brand and influences your audience’s perceptions. New web addresses are flexible and meant to accommodate a wide range of uses. As the registrant, it’s in your power to register and use them as you see fit. So make the most of it!
Alisha is a Content Marketing Specialist at Radix, the registry behind some of the most successful new domain extensions available now through Yahoo Small Business, including .STORE and .TECH. You can connect with her on LinkedIn.

The facility allowed me to practice until I was great at what I was doing which is music and audio engineering. After being done with school they work with the students to offer jobs and internships.”

For technical SEO practitioners and site developers, news from Google I/O
The announcements made by the Chrome team on the availability of technologies and extensions to their current products in the “What’s new for The Web Platform” presentation have a lot of value for technical SEO practitioners and site developers alike.
The Google Chrome Team made announcements on the availability of technologies in a session titled. “What’s new for The Web Platform” at Google I/O last week. It’s no surprise that the session’s two main speakers, Ben Galbraith and Dion Almaer, co-wrote an early book about AJAX and Web 2.0.
The Web Platform is made up of open web technologies that allow the web to act as a virtual operating system enabling browsers to deliver application-like experiences. As users have grown to expect from Google and others. Other key seminars, such as the “What’s new in Web Vitals” session, have been covered. We’ll go through key aspects from any session that pertains to SEO development.
Tumblr media
Chromium
As a top Web browser, Google’s Chromium is more powerful than Chrome alone. It also runs Microsoft Edge and other programmes. Chrome’s browser market share lead over competitors is now comparable to Google Search’s lead over competitors. Internet Explorer is being phased out by Microsoft. Chrome has become the primary browser for which developers write code, with a fallback for unsupported features or a focus on technologies that are also supported by Safari and Firefox.
Safari is the only rival browser that isn’t in the single digits in terms of user market share, thanks to WebKit, which powers iOS’s in-app WebView. It’s worth noting that Google’s most recent development achievements, which were disclosed at Google I/O, coincide with unparalleled rises in browsing activity.
Coronavirus multi-market study (GlobalWebIndex) predicts strong growth in July 2020, a key milestone.
Time spent on cell phones has increased by 70%.
Laptop users spend 47% more time on them.
On average, people spend 33% more time on their computers or desktops.
New security features
Security.
The first announcement from the Chrome team is a new security sandbox feature that isolates inline frame instances. That is, cross-site iframe> material embedded within a website, such as a YouTube widget, now operates as a distinct process from the process that handles the embedding page itself. Through V8 to Chrome, the isolation security architecture is meant to prevent data leakage from heart bleed and malicious JavaScript.
Cookies.
Google also announced that the previously disclosed change to its default cookie handling behaviour for third-party website access is now available in Firefox. After previously being available only in Chrome and Edge. Unless you don’t access third-party cookies or provide third-party websites access to your own site’s cookies. If you haven’t heard about SameSite cookie requirements for operational third-party cookie access. Now is the time to find out. The browser handling behaviour is governed by SameSite directives.
APIs.
Given the widespread usage of third-party cookies, the Chrome Team unveiled a new “family of APIs” including federated login, tailored advertisements, and conversion tracking that can enable alternative paths for use cases that previously required the usage of a third-party cookie. For example, the “Attribution Reporting” API proposal would shift conversion monitoring from cookies monitoring visitors across websites to the browser itself.
Tracking prevention.
Transmissions from the Attribution Reporting API contain time delays and noise to prevent trackers from linking together personally identifying data with conversion event timing. Making it difficult for anyone to successfully trace specific users and conversions that way. The API, along with a few other APIs, are accessible in origin trials. Which you may use to test with your own website before they go live.
New progressive web app features
Context menu and badges.
Progressive web apps now allow you to develop “shortcuts” that expose “fast actions” as context menu items (right-click or two-finger tap) with supporting operating systems such as Android, Chrome OS, Windows, and macOS once they’ve been installed with an icon on home screens and desktops. A new Badging API also allows you to add a notification number to your app’s icon.
Declarative Link Capturing.
The origin trial version of a proposed “Decorative Link Capturing” API will be available soon. The proposed API allows links from outside the PWA context to open the PWA. Similar to how clicking a link to a YouTube video URL opens an installed YouTube app. Rather than a browser tab with the YouTube website. This is similar to deep-linking but in an app context.
The manifest file.
Chrome on desktop and Android web app installation user interfaces are receiving snazzy new dialogues and information panels to provide users more information and guidance to make the process go more smoothly. Custom text and graphics can be specified in the manifest file of a web app by developers.
Multi-Screen Window Placement API.
This new API allows progressive web programmes to find and adjust the location of the window on all connected monitors. This functionality is said to be useful for web-based presentations and video conferencing. These trends, once again, are in line with the substantial increases in browsing activity that will begin in 2020.
File System Access API.
Finally, online programmes now have access to the user’s file system. What could possibly go wrong? You’ll be able to deal with existing files and save state to disc using your app. A new File Handling API allows you to register your web app as a file type handler. Allowing users to open files and have them handled by your web app, exactly like a native app. Later this year, an experimental release will be available.
At least theoretically, the Web Platform is quickly becoming the “web as operating system,” with application-like experiences as envisioned. Expect early encounters to be a little strange, with a steep developer learning curve and a lot of effort to put in place. However, these are exciting times for web developers who want to experiment with cutting-edge web technologies.
Web Assembly news
Web Assembly (Wasm) promises to compile code into binary executables that can be run in JavaScript engines. Performance difficulties, one of the most common concerns, maybe improved now that V8 supports contemporary CPUs with SIMD instructions for better multimedia performance.
Wasm’s best feature is that it allows you to develop web apps in nearly any language, not just JavaScript, by compiling down to the binary specification. There are some notable Rust projects, for example. It builds to JavaScript binaries that can be run in current browsers. Knowing what you’re limited to when using a language like Rust. On the other hand, is crucial for staying within the Wasm standard.
Core Web Vitals
The most significant Core Web Vitals announcement is that performance gains from enhancing web vitals will benefit both mobile and desktop rankings later this year. It was always strange to believe that damaged rankings would simply apply to mobile searches, given that PC users often surf under sporadic network conditions.
Rankings.
We’ve gotten some clarification on lab test results. The rankings will be adjusted based on the data collected in the field. Lighthouse is “calibrated to be indicative of a user in your high percentiles,” which is good news. That means that if you get good lab results, users in the field will, nine times out of ten, send Google even better results for your User Experience ranking factor adjustment.
Background images.
It’s been difficult to figure out what your Largest Contentful Paint element is. Lighthouse will soon give you a thumbnail and will be updated for better accuracy. When dealing with backgrounds and carousel pictures, thankfully.
Layout shifting.
Changes to how Cumulative Layout Shift is calculated are another nagging issue that is being addressed. It was the case that the shifting accumulated during the course of the page browsing session. Because some users load and leave while others explore and scroll up and down. The score did not indicate the level of precision required to account for a change in your rankings as a result. Google now takes a 5-second sample and adds it up to get the highest shift score.
Content visibility.
With the value set to auto, the relatively new content-visibility CSS attribute can now be used to boost performance ratings. This allows the browser to forego rendering the contents of that element if it isn’t currently visible in the user’s display. Resulting in greater performance when compared to the quantity of material in those elements.
Prerendering.
While several browsers have implemented prerendering capabilities, allowing developers to signal URLs in, say, your top navigation to be stored in the browser cache for quick loading on the click, there are some issues with cross-site security, multimedia that may suddenly playback, and even unintentionally logging users out of authentication. Later this year, Google expects to release an updated prerendering API.
Why we care
There are a number of things to look forward to from Google as it expands browser and API support for Web Platform technologies. Many of these technologies are already available, and several of these announcements state that more will be accessible this year. All of the updates discussed here will either help you improve your rankings or give you new methods to engage your site’s visitors.
Don’t forget to join up for our SEO for Developers Workshop at SMX Advanced on June 15th and 16th. As well as our workshops on June 17th and 18th, to stay up with the rapid pace of these changes in website construction, web app authoring, and technical SEO work for rankings!
