third time's a charm, am i right? hi again! i'm erin ( or e ) and here is ahn jinri 3.0 (honestly a 2.5). a few little tweaks but overall still the same. as you will soon see for yourself, i'm actually completing a biography and plots page this time around for easier future plotting lmfao. leave a like if you're interested in plotting with jinri, and i'll pop into your ims throughout the night. i also use discord so if you prefer that, just let me know and i'll be more than happy to add you.
1996-2008
february 15 1996. jinri really doesn't have that complex of a backstory. her life was as normal as it could get. jinri was born as the only child to a set of workaholic parents. while they were very present in her earlier years, she doesn't remember many fond memories including the both of them. she quietly kept to herself and placed her focus in doing well in school. along with any extracurriculars she may have been partaking in at the time.she was basically raised under the care of her grandmother, therefore was heavily influenced by her.
in fact, her love for dancing came from her grandmother, who was a dancer in the past. she took up dancing lessons as a hobby and as a way to connect more with her grandmother. she ends up loving it even more than she expected, and tries out many different genres until she finds the one she likes the most. favored the hiphop genre in dancing, which was up until she became a trainee.
offered to audition, she nearly didn't go because of the implications of leaving her familyand being surrounded by strangers. at the encouragement of her grandmother, she auditioned, passed, and soon signed with everlast.
2008-2014
having been used to the toxic environment she was in with dancing, jinri had assume that this would be no different. accustomed to success in her dance pursuits, jinri was determined to remain at the top, even if it meant resorting to tactics that were less than admirable. she isolated herself, believing that success was an individual achievement. she had gained an infamous reputation amongst trainees due to her cold demeanor at a young age.
by the time the news of a girl group debuting within the company was spreading, jinri thought that she was more than ready to make her debut. Having trained for over five years, the thought of her debut being close brought a glimmer of hope to jinri. however, she soon discovered that the ability to work with others was considered for groups. she wasn’t even considered for the lineup at all because of her lack of ability to connect with the other trainees and just the plain fact that she didn't fit the image in mind for the group.
it was a major blow to her ego and she started to lose hope, fearing that her chance might never come. if she wasn’t good enough after four years, then would she ever be? realizing that her behavior had hindered her chances of debuting in angelic, she was quick to right her wrongs. she had apologized to those she had wronged and started slowly changing for the better, even helping others, rebuilding her reputation amongst trainees. she slowly began to embrace her true self once more, and not the facade she had made to protect herself all of those years ago.
however, her confidence in her chances of debuting did no come back. jinri began considering a different plan to fall back on just in case she had ruined her chances for good. while it would’ve been easier for her to resort to being a choreographer or even just a dancer for the company, she wanted something new to explore. she turned to writing lyrics and jumped into the world of music production and directly her energy towards it.
taking her newfound interest seriously, what started as rough drafts consisting of a few lines slowly evolved into fully fleshed-out songs. however, Jinri was highly critical of her own creations, doubting her abilities and whether her work would ever be good enough by the company for an official release. that didn’t stop her, in fact, it fueled her even more. she continued to write various songs and learn from others around her.
her talents in this field quickly became evident as she was having songs picked up for other artists by the next year, proving to herself that she's an asset outside of dancing.
2015-2020
she secured a spot in the debut lineup of the girl group mirrorworld, and even gets a number of her songs picked for the debut album.
she dove headfirst into refining her skills and creating more music, driven by her desire to continually improve and make an impact with her work.
just her luck that mirrorworld would undergo a hiatus following their debut. it irritated her to see how much traction they were losing with each passing month, and she was just itching to take control of the situation and just make music that satisfied both parties.
that is not exactly what happened as it took months until mirrorworld's comeback was settled, but jinri had been involved with writing five of the songs on that album.
released a portal song a few months after, but went unpromoted and most fans do not know about it. it's one of those releases that you stumble across in your recommended after binging a bunch of mirrorworld releases.
opened a youtube channel the following year, also had her solo debut. her solo debut is something she doesn't like to think back on due to the mass amount of hate she received for it. she does acknowledge how popular the song was/is. 24 hours has not been performed by her since 2017 when it was released and the fans ask for its return.
a lot of rumors about her started circulating around this era, and some were straight up defamation of character. a little sensitive with all of the backlash and false accusations she was getting, she requested the company to take action, which didn't really happen because the rumors weren't big enough to actually hurt the company, but it did tarnish her reputation while it was circulating because of the company's inaction. this continued to be a common cycle throughout the years, making jinri's dissatisfaction with everlast slowly grow with each incident.
released another single the following year, which got her her first music show win as a soloist, along with a few photoshoots for magazines, and the public is a little wary of how many opportunities she's getting as a solo artist. imagine the anger when she released a full length album the year after that.
2019 was a interesting year for her. released her solo album which she didn't have much involvement in. learning choreography and recording four music videos for four different songs was draining. also wrote and produced for a group that she was not in for the first time in years. true north was like a breath of fresh air for her, sparking her interest again. even released a japanese single that is also often forgotten about.
2020 was a year. shooting for two separate calvin klein campaigns opened the door once again for criticism for being too sexual. worked with true noth twice this year, and did her big one with mirrorworld's album. was literally putting her all into that album as a last hurrah because she was going to ask the company for a break and contemplate fully leaving the company. surprise surprise, she goes into a meeting and finds out they want her to have another comeback early next year so she wouldn't be getting that break just yet.
2021-2023
jinri releases her second album near the beginning of 2021, and this was a work that she had her hands all over creatively. instead of feeling happy with its release and the amount of involvement she had, she was just tired. mirrorworld had released and promoted a full length album 2 months prior that she had always worked on, so she really had no chance to rest.
the following months just drained her more, filming an artist of the month video for studio choom and doing a shoot and interview for dazed korea. her final straw was the album repackage that she also had to promote. jinri felt as if she was working herself to the bone again.
she had a number of disagreements with management about numerous things over the years. the recent topics including decreasing her number of activities. the relationship between jinri and everlast was soured by late july which is when she came to the decision she was going to file for a contract termination.
heavily contemplating whether or not to continue being an idol during the year the lawsuit is going on. she had been losing herself and her passion for it over the last two to three years, and this was an opportunity to step away from the limelight.
after the contract lawsuit was announced, jinri was not heard or seen publicly for six months. during this time she was seeing if she truly wanted to step away from the limelight and just utilizing the break she had.
plays around with music a little bit, focuses more on dancing. eventually she started posting dance covers (and a selfmade song) on her youtube again, but still hadn't spoken out publicly. which she wouldn't do until the contract signing with secret garden was announced.
honestly, jinri's just letting each day pass by. currently in one of those phases in life in which she just takes a backseat with writing/producing, focusing on other things instead. as of right now, it looks like she's easing up on the control she felt like she needed to have over the group's discography.
she's more comfortable with just making sure it sounds like one of their songs? this is leaving a lot of room for her to actually not like a mw release at all. (spoiler: she kinda doesn't like omg and ditto despite being a producer on those songs)
PUBLIC IMAGE;
from a public image standpoint, you either love her or you hate her. most love her for her contributions in myworld but cannot stand the sight of her if she's missing the other four members. she's a little controversial for an idol, and it's obvious with the way the public opinion is always divided in anything she does. the #jinrihatetrain is always up and running, and at this point in her career, it has become part of her identity.
well known for her songwriting and producing. in fact, it is one of the very few areas that jinri receives a lot of praise for. although, it seems that she's extremely hard to work with at first glance, as she tends to stick to creating songs for either herself, her group, and her group members. working with true north came as a surprise to many, as they were the first group she wrote for since her debut. her continuous working relationship with the group over several comebacks made her signing with secret garden not a big surprise to fans.
and no matter what she may be criticized for, she cannot called a talentless idol. with performing and dancing being two of her strongest aspects, a few viral moments have sparked from dance covers uploaded to her youtube channel in the past couple of years. jinri always makes sure to show everyone that she deserves her spot on the stage, and shows no signs of slowing down nearly eight years in.
fans would call her an icon (a little much in jinri's eyes), but she just views herself as an ordinary person that has a lot of ideas and uses music as one of many outlets. she's definitely looking to branch herself into different avenues career wise because she simply just does not want to be confined into one little box as an artist.
what you may see in the public eye is an extremely watered down version of her. intended to seem very boring at first glance because that's what keeps the people away! somehow (through talent and genuinely being somewhat likeable and funny) still managed to build a small but strong personal fanbase for herself. may also be due to the fact that she's also very good at making others think that they know more about her than they really do.
she's extremely protective over her personal life because frankly, nobody is entitled to it. it's to the point where she barely has any childhood photos circulating online, and the only predebut photos are from the three-four years leading up to her debut. to give another example, it is known she is very close to her grandmother, but that is it. she has done her best to protect her family from the public eye.
PRIVATE IMAGE;
this time around, jinri's wayyy more friendly and approachable. which isn't much because she's still a hermit at heart. she's willing to talk to people (most of the time others will have to approach her first), and can carry on with small talk like no other if the conversation is not going anywhere interesting. she has the tendency to stick to what's familiar to her because that's is what's predictable and comfortable.
she still accidentally ghosts and leaves people on delivered/read for days at a time. DND warrior, type of person you have to press notify anyway to get her to read it. forbid its a phone call, because if it isn't one of her emergency contacts, she's not picking up. she may not respond quickly but she will get to it eventually! jinri is unfortunately just one of those people you have to catch in person.
takes work way too seriously. still a workaholic unfortunately. jokes that she gets it from her parents but she loathes the fact that she spends so much extra time working seemingly cant step away from whatever she's doing. perfectionist when it comes to music, sometimes spent nights in the studio working on songs, and it's safe to assume it's worse with the amount of songs she's working on for a project. the mirror festival and perfect world im looking at you
[ alcoholism trigger warning ] while she was always liked drinking, that along with other life events had led to it developing into a drinking problem. very few amount of people would pick up on this because she's often drinking in private, which also works best to prevent any more rumors about her character from leaking. gets a little concerning in periods of inactivity, so her little web show was a quick solution that lets her indulge in this vice.
"do not tell me about ur problems if u do not want to hear my thoughts, or at least start ur monologue with the fact u do not want feedback" type of person. she has the desire for everything to be sorted out and on it's way to being fixed, so while she is willing to lend an ear, she cannot handle her own problems + the group + whatever additional problems other may have esp if its unresolved. really doesn't help she can be a little opinionated with little to no filter sometimes
very open and honest. honesty is something that's also shown publicly, as she has been open about her experiences with mental health for a few years now. has been called a comfort person by fans (which confuses her but makes sense). she's kind of like a caring older sister if you get to know her. can get on your nerves occasionally, but no matter what, you know she has your back.
soon will find out she has some flaws that would demote her likeability status, but she has been working on herself and has made humongous progress. still has her moments where the ugliness slips through the cracks, esp if she hasn't been in the best mood, but has learned self-restraint and how to control her tongue from saying the first thing that comes to mind.
basic plots
creative friends, aka people she likely responds to the quickest. whether it's in music, film, fashion, or any other form, jinri always likes to pick the brains of other people and their creative processes. and if a good friendship comes out of that? just a perk of things.
close friends. whether it was her who reached out first or the other, they clicked well enough for jinri to view them as an important figure in her life.
casual friends. seen each other's faces frequently enough to recognize each other and may have had a few conversations. not enough for jinri to truly consider the other a close friend, but enough for her to consider tacking on the title of friend.
people who guested on her little show? she has a web drinking show funnily enough, and it's more on the casual side.
the inspiration behind her songs, good or bad.
relationships, past or future. past relationships were lasted a while or were flings. currently, she's supposedly in a "healing" phase but who knows what she's actually healing from.
people she's a fan of, i'd likely mention this in plotting if stuff ur muse does something up her alley.
those a fan of her, although she might be a little skeptical if u tell her that because who actually listens to her music?
dancers. she loves dancing even if that's overshadowed by her producing / songwriting. maybe those she'd hit up to dance with or even film a cover with???

Shawn & Leon- 2010
Out here posting more drafts, don't mind me.
-----
Leon stares out at the bright lights of the city. His match was over, he was done for the day. And yet something felt...unfulfilled when he got backstage. He rubs his jaw as the sounds of car horns fill his ears.
"Its beautiful isn't it?" A rough voice calls. Leon nods. "Yeah, it is." He admits in a rougher voice. Shawn sits next to him, letting his legs dangle over the edge. "I used to come up here a lot. It was more danger back then" Shawn states. Leon looks at him. "How could it possibly be more unsafe?" Leon asks. "Well I was 80% drugs and 10% drunk with the last percentage being whatever your father fell in love with." Shawn tells him. Leon makes a small ooh noise before looking back at the city. "When did you find this spot? Didn't know any one else knew how to get on top of the arena." Shawn asks.
Leon chuckles. "After Paul slashed my face. Wanted up here for other reasons but when I saw how beautiful the city looked it became a escape for me. Like the hill back home." Leon answers. "It is a good hill" Shawn admits.
The pair sit in silence. Just enjoying the busy city.
"You did good tonight. A handicap match with you and John vs legacy? Went a lot better than I thought it would" Shawn tells him. "Something doesn't feel right. I don't feel fulfilled" Leon tells him. Shawn frowns. "Leon?" Shawn asks. "Yeah?" "Never stop fighting." Shawn tells him. Leon frowns at the older man. "What? I don't think it's that worth it pa." Leon states. "Its worth it. This place can and will be yours, just keep fighting." Shawn tells him. "Whats going on? This is yours. Yours and dad's." Leon states.
Shawn smiles sadly. "Not anymore. After wrestlemania 26, it's all yours" Shawn tells him. Leon's eyes widen. "What? Your retiring? Seriously?" Leon asks. "Im tired Leon. I'm in so much pain every match..if I could, I'd go on for years. But, I don't want to be another hogan or flair. It's your time to shine. Not mine." Shawn tells him. Leon looks down. "Ill still be around. I'll be helping hunter at nxt. I..I just can't do the ring work anymore. Its not worth the pain. I've got nothing left to prove." Shawn explains. "I understand. How's dad taking it?" Leon asks. Shawn stays quiet. Leon finally looks at him. "You haven't told him...he doesn't know" Leon whispers. "Neither does cassie." Shawn adds.
Leon scans his Pas face. He's always been good at that, but today he can't see a thing. "Why? Why me?" Leon asks. "Because you will do what's right. They...they will not." Shawn tells him quietly. Leon looks at the city. "Streak vs career.." Leon whispers, his mind flashing back at the past few months. His Pa never planned on winning. "Dad won't let you lose." Leon speaks up. "Correct." Shawn chuckles. Leon looks at him to see his father staring at him. "What do you need me to do?" Leon asks. Shawn smiles. Of course, Paul's perfect little soldier still lived on in Leon. He always will.
---
Leon walks into the gorilla. "Where have you been?" Cassie asks as her brother stands next to her. "I had a match aswell you know" Leon huffs. "Youve missed most of this. Pa has been trying to upset dad. Why?" Cassie asks. "Why would I know? What's he doing?" Leon asks as hunter walks over. "Mocking him. Pushing him. You know, taking notes from your book" hunter comments. Leon smiles slightly. "Where'd you think I learned it from?" Leon asks. Cassie and hunter look at him before back at the screen. "It doesn't take you long to clean up after a match. What have you been doing all this time?" Hunter asks as shawn grabs at takers legs. "Nothing at all.." Leon mutters, his eyes turning a slight purple as the camera focuses on takers face.
-
Takers vision becomes blurry. "S-stay down!" He yells. He looks at where his husband should be; all he sees is a shadow of a man. This isnt right. He watches as the shadow draws his thumb across his throat. "I will kill them all" the distorted voice growls before slapping taker. Taker growls as a sudden anger takes over him. No one will harm his family.
-
Leon smirks as the purple fades from his eyes. By the time his father is back in reality, he would of pinned Pa.
And Leon and shawn had timed it perfectly. By the time the bell rung, taker was finally waking up.
Leon felt bad about manipulating his father, the same way Paul did to him. But, his Pa is going to suffer if he wins. Leon leans over and turns the tv off. "What did you do?" Cassie asks quietly. "I did what was right. You'll understand that one day." Leon answers her before turning to leave. Cassie grabs his arm. "WHY!" She yells. "Why would you do this?!" She growls. "Its what he wanted" Leon growls pulling his arm free. "And the fact he never came to you about it proves my point" Leon adds. "Not all of us are heartless slaves Leon! I could of helped him!" Cassie barks. Leon just smiles at her. "Of course you could" Leon whispers before walking out.
He leaves just as Taker arrives back. "Where is he?" Taker growls. "Who?" Hunter asks. "Leon. I recognise hallucinations like that a mile away" Taker growls. "Hes not important right now. Shawn and cassie are" hunter snaps. Taker looks to see cassie staring at the exit with teary eyes. "Your right. I'll see to him later." He whispers moving to hug his daughter.
---
Leon stares into the mirror. His eyes shine purple as he examines his scarred face in the mirror. He will always be that monster Paul made him to be. He will...he will never be seen as human. His eyes shift from his face to the figure behind him. Leon let's a small smile grow on his face as the lights turn out.
Leon wouldn't be seen again until a few months later.

Adding Three more muses to the list!
They’re all their own AU kind of. I... I want to adventure more into these characters....
also this gif perfectly describes how I feel about this.
Tumblr media
Just me delving deeper into muses sanity.
Yami-AI
Tumblr media
The AI shaped and formed as Yami (from Dark Side of Dimensions) gets his own body in the form of an android. How and why is unknown, but he believes that he was created in order to protect something. What that is, he doesn’t know. But he has a few ideas. Such as secrets of the Kaiba Corp. Even though he was created to live up to Yami’s King of Games title that Seto has idolized him to be, this AI was given the freedom of creating its own personality, and has become just as teasing and has an almost free spirited nature to him on top of the competitive nature that was already installed within him.  He isn’t too knowledgeable of anything unless Kaiba installed it in him. Some of those data including: Yugi is the top duelist. There were three Egyptian god cards. AND Jonouchi/Joey Wheeler has… little to no data is saved on this name. Examples of people he could protect: if he meets Yugi or even Yami, he will think that is who he must protect, as they are the original King of Games. If he meets Mokuba, he will protect him as he is Seto’s brother, and he is very much aware of how protective Seto is. He will even protect Seto if possible. (he can read when Seto is being too proud to admit it.) What kind of abilities does this android have? It depends on what you’d like to RP with. He could go from super strength to making holograms to possibly even recreating some Duel Monster abilities- based on his deck of course. So he could instantly summon Dark Magician and have him attack. Each monster would last for 3 minutes. Romance? .... not sure. Age? Newborn if you want to be literal but appears the same as Yami did when he was in Battle City.
 Ryou Bakura
Tumblr media
A sweet young man who had a bunch of strange happenstances that caused his friends to either disappear or enter comas. Most of which they are still in. He fears that his family would be next so he leaves to live on his own. He is still on good terms with them and writes to his sister every week, keeping in contact with them. Even though he is quite shy, he does his best in everything he can do. He hopes to make more friends in this new school. Headcanon: He has asthma. Being inside only playing board games without going outside much as a child. There is no Yami Bakura involved with him.  You want to ask him about Romance?: expect a shy and stuttering boy who doesn’t even know how to respond to the girls at school who fawn over him without even knowing much about him. He’s extremely shy around girls. He doesn’t know how to talk to them.
Marik Ishtar
Tumblr media
A young Egyptian man born and raised inside the tomb of an unnamed Pharaoh. Someone who is eager in adventuring the world that had been shut off away from him since he could remember. He is bright eyed and filled with awe at the world around him. He loves learning new things, and especially cultures. His father disappeared without a trace, leaving him only with his siblings, Ishtar and Odion. Who vowed to gain a new life for him outside of the tombs.  Basically a more innocent (and less thirst for vengeance) version of Marik. There is no Yami Marik. There is only a sense of awe and wonder at the world and a protection over his siblings. When it comes to Romance?: He hadn’t thought of ever being in a relationship. Either Panromantic or homoromantic (he can only think of romance and knows nothing except the scriptures. Basically he the most innocent boy)

good eve hibi, i was wondering if you, as an academic queen, have any advice for dissertation writing/planning?? im starting mine this week and am bricking it tbh
also, do you have a ko-fi or similar?? i tried the present at on your blog but i didn't really wanna give your dash crabs lol
ahhh first off please don't worry about ko-fi!! i briefly had tips enabled but i got rid of them since i'm getting paid at my job and am very secure right now Alhamdulillah <3 but thank you so so much for asking!
re: advice......SOOOO much advice. pre-diss writing bricking-it is so fucking real. it's genuinely paralyzing lol. couple of tips to start so you're not overwhelmed:
PREEMPTIVELY take a look at your sources. make sure you're using a good citation manager! i've been using zotero for six years and i would die without it. read your sources before you start writing in earnest! annotate generously and make sure you have a decent organizational system--either color coordinated for argument or section, or otherwise pulling out useful quotes and concepts with page numbers in a separate document. this will save you when you're in the middle of writing and suddenly forget what you're on about/get stuck. tagging your sources will be helpful here too!!
write a skeleton of your paper! think of this as a slightly more fleshed out (hah) version of an outline. i'm actually working on this right now so i'll put that below. but basically, you want to have your arguments, at least your draft arguments, written out either in bullets or in a sentence. This is going to save your LIFE. make sure it's a separate document that you can keep referring back to and, as you review your sources and think things through, that you can add stuff into. It's okay if your arguments change. Just write SOME arguments as a starting point.
create a plan for every day/week working BACKWARDS from your deadline and build in BREAKS. the reason i say work backwards instead of forwards is bc it helps you reverse engineer a perfect progression. building in breaks does two things: 1) literally you need a break from your diss especially if you're pissed off at it you nEED to be able to walk away for a FULL DAY at least otherwise you're going to panic and never want to write ever again lol; 2) if you fall behind on your plans, you have some overflow days that you can tap into so that you don't fall too-too behind. usually the thing about paralysis is that you just don't really know where to start? this tells you exactly where to start and where to end.
don't spin your wheels on one section. you don't HAVE to write your paper in the order that someone would read it. if you don't want to write an introduction, that's fine; start mid-paragraph in a different section. this is especially helpful if you're like working on washing the dishes or brushing your teeth and you have a really good idea all of a sudden and need to put it SOMEWHERE.
DO NOT LEAVE CITING UNTIL THE END DO NOT DO THIS DO NOT DO THIS DO NOT DO THIS you will inevitably do this. to make it slightly less painful, at least put in a [CITE X HERE] rather than just [CITE]. that way you have a rough idea for where to look for your source. if you've done the first tip well, this will be made EVEN less painful.
ok this is enough for now oajglkajg i have so many feelings lol GOOD LUCK LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES!!!

help.
how tf do you write long chapters.
im writing a zukki fic and i need help
great question lol. I never planned to write something as long as retgmt, it just kind of.....turned into what it is. I think the first chapter is like 5.6k words, the last one I put out was almost 35k words (???????) and by the time it's done it's definitely going to surpass 200k words which is just fucking wild
The chapters keep getting longer because the story kind of morphed into something I never expected...i started out with a goal in mind, but as I really got into it, it became clear that there were certain concepts or ideas that I needed to explore more, so I just kind of...kept writing. And I always think of new scene ideas AS I'm writing, so those inevitably get added in too.
It takes a lot of planning and a lot of work, at least for me. But when I'm able to hit that groove where I've finally figured out what I want a chapter to look like, it's fun for me. Until then it's a lot of throwing random ideas into a google doc and crying until it starts to make sense.
(I don't know if it will help you but if you're curious what my actual, boring, practical process is like, here's that...under the cut bc it got kind of long:)
I work out of a few docs when I'm writing:
outline: general for the entire story/the big picture.
scene ideas: for each chapter, i start out brainstorming scene ideas. Any random idea I get that I think might work, I throw it in here (this doc is usually a MESS lol). What I usually do is keep a list of any specific dialogue, phrases, or concepts that I know I want to use or explore in the chapter. For each individual scene idea, I give it a title so that I can easily refer back to it later (ex: "sokka flare up" or "zuko x azula conversation about [x]"). Most of these ideas are just bullet points but sometimes I'll end up writing bigger portions of the scene here too, almost like a rough draft...just depends. Again...it's a mess.
rough chapter outline: using the titles I wrote for the scene ideas, I try to arrange them into an outline. I think about where the characters are at the beginning of the chapter and where I want them to be by the end of it. All of the scenes I cooked up are just the stepping stones to get there, so I try to organize them in a way that flows and makes sense.
rough draft: using the rough outline I made, I work on drafting the scenes. I usually hop around, writing bits here and there for each one as I get inspiration, taking what I wrote down in the scene ideas doc. This is the hardest part of the entire process for me. It's really hard for me to write at all if I don't know where I'm going with a scene, so until I get the outline really nailed down, writing doesn't usually flow for me.
rough draft 2 (or 3 or 4, etc): I go back and see if there are any concepts, moments, or emotions that I need to elaborate on or show better. Sometimes this requires adding in another scene to really showcase it, or maybe just some expanded dialogue or longer description of inner thoughts/feelings. If I get stuck on a scene, I ask myself: what was its original purpose and is it accomplishing that? does it flow with the rest of the chapter where it is? would it work better from a different character's POV or in a different setting? and I change it accordingly.
Another way to add some length to your chapters is to rewrite a scene from another character's POV. it's a fun exercise but also adds more to the word count! (ex: in retgmt, at the end of chapter 1 when zuko shows up late to the group and they meet for the first time, it's in Sokka's POV. at the start of chapter 2, i wrote about zuko reflecting on that night and why he was late in the first place. this directly tied into the next scene when zuko decides to go to the group early, and runs into sokka again).
After all of that it's just....general editing and final drafting once I'm finally happy with what I've written.
TL,DR: MAKE A PLAN. general story outline > scene ideas > chapter outline > drafts. Break it down scene by scene. Move things around, add more scenes, elaborate where needed, or take things out during the writing process depending on where you want the chapter to end up.
Honestly though...all of that being said, my biggest piece of advice when writing a long story is to take breaks when you need to. Every story is different and sometimes your chapters might be shorter, or they might end up being longer than what you planned. It really just depends.
Writing can be really fun but it can also be really hard too, so go easy on yourself. I'm still learning how to do that.

Hiii it's me again, the one who asked about your HDM au, i just wanna ask a few questions. first ever since i read your AU, i immediately fell in love with the concept of DCST characters having Daemons, and was also the sole reason i gave the HBO series a watch (season 1 was great! Season 2 was pretty good) and is now a fan of the show, thanks to you!
Second, because i love the concept so much, I can't help but make my own version of it! But one problem, i have never ever wrote a fic before, im thinking of doing a simple oneshot first, but like i said, i have never wrote a story (at least in English) besides for school work. So where do i start? What should be my priorities? Will people really read this? Does it even HAVE to be a fic? First POV or Character POV? Or third party POV?
I have an idea in mind, where the setting is, the characters that are gonna interact, etc, I'm just really clueless on starting it. Can you help? Like maybe showing the thought process you went through writing the AU? Sorry if I ask to much, first time asking advice on something i normally don't do hehe
Hello again!!
I'm so glad you got into the whole his Dark Materials Universe (i still haven't seen the HBO series bc I promised someone I'd watch with them and we still havent gotten around to it, rip)!!
Second (and I'll preface this by saying, i write as a hobby, I'm def not an authority in the field), I think it's an awesome idea to try writing a fic and/or creating your own au!!
For me, the easiest way to start creating is to focus on what part I like the most. So like for the DCST au, it was thinking about what characters got what daemons and how the universe would change if crossed over with HDM. Or it's a fic with a plot, what scene came to me first. I feel like the hardest part of writing is starting, so it's best to just start with whatever idea is most vivid.
I have a bit of a weird writing process, in that I spend a lot of time just kinda daydreaming about my AUs, then I'll usually write down some very rough notes on them (like for this au, what daemons people had and how the culture would change, or for a fic with an original plot some scenes I want to include), and then I jump straight into writing a rough-draft that's pretty close to the final version.
I know a lot of people like writing kinda of a bullet point list of what scenes and plots they like -> rough draft -> edits -> final version.
Also, I think the priority when creating fan content is just do what makes you happy! Like fandoms have trends, so a fic might get more hits/kudos if it's the fandoms's OTP instead of a rarepair and most people like 3rd person POV best, etc but I always get the most enjoyment from people interacting with the fics that I enjoyed writing the most, even if they aren't as popular (aka all my DCST fics, lol).
So I'd say write whatever type of fic you want! Or don't, and just do some world-building of who has what daemons! Whether your content gets super popular or just a few people read it is kinda just luck of the draw, so don't stress about it.
Also just wanted to add that your English reads as really natural and fluent to me! (sorry I don't have any advice for writing in a second language, I'm a mere monolingual)
Thanks so much for asking, and hope I was able to help some! I for one really look forward to seeing anything you'll create (feel free to drop a link my inbox to whatever you make if you want)!

im dying over y'all's writing i've been fixated for like a week i love it ♥ i dont know if i'll be able to see toshinori the same :o what is y'all's normal process for writing the chapters?
Aww thank you!! (Honestly same, I forget what canon Toshi looks like on occasion.)
Tumblr media
So we’ve been writing this for almost a year now. When @aoimikans and I started, we chatted for two days straight to figure out the base of the story and some key events. The story sort of naturally evolved as we went and we went with the flow.
For more current chapters, we usually pause and ask the important Big Picture questions: What do we want to happen? In what order? What small picture moments need to add up to the Big Picture? Does this scene help build the Big Picture? Does this scene work in general? If not, how do we change it? Do we need it?
We usually outline a full arc around one or two main Big Events and build up to and around them. We write a while and if something doesn’t feel right, we stop, rethink our approach. Sometimes completely scrap scenes or rewrite them around an adjustment. (After hitting 100,000 words it’s a lot easier to just throw out 1000 or so words.)
And two heads are really better than one. Where I may not think a bit of dialogue sounds off, aoimikans may think it needs fixing (and vic versa). And we’ll spend a good 10-20 minutes polishing it. Even just the phrasing of an action sentence changes the image we’re trying to get across.
If we get stuck for more than a couple days, we usually sit back as say, “Okay. There is something in the core of this that is off. What is it? Are we writing out of character? Is this forced? Does this have the impact we need?” If not? Scrap and rework.
Once we’re happy with scene rough draft, we’ll go over it again for simple fixes and continue writing. Once the whole chapter rough draft is finished, we’ll read through it once more as a whole (and this is after each scene has been edited as we see fit). We’ll edit anything that needs it, sometimes spending an evening on just editing.
When we think the chapter is ready to post, we’ll list a few title options and wait for a title to pop out as “exactly right.”
And then we post. That’s kind of our process.
