It was the quieter part of the workday, Ness's nose buried in a non-fiction book on his latest interest. ( This was, of course, distinctly against the rules of the workplace, but, well, it wasn't as though he had anything better to do for the next few minutes. ) Still, the sound of the door opening had him snapping the book closed, slid slyly out of sight as he instinctively began his cheery, "Welcome to Sp—"

Oh. Well, never mind that, then. "Mike!" The cheeriness was still present, if less rehearsed than his customer tone. He couldn't resist the way his smile brightened at the mention of Abby drawing him. "That's sweet—she should show me sometime."

Right, the favor Mike had mentioned. "No problem, I can do that. I get off at five—I can come by as early as you need." He was already turned away, making a grab for a coffee cup. Mike's obvious exhaustion hadn't gone unnoticed. "You don't have to pay me, though. It's a favor—remember?" He glanced over his shoulder as he poured the coffee, then walked back over and set it down in front of Mike. "It's on the house—just don't tell anyone." A wink. Was he joking? It was impossible to tell. "Y'know, I think you might be wearing yourself thin." Takes one to know one.

❝ hey----i need a favor. ❞ were the words that spilled from mike's mouth; pushing through the door to sparky's and settling himself at the counter, this time, instead of the usual booth. ❝ abby likes you. she even drew you, in one of her pictures. ❞ and i like you too, its nice to have something consistent in my life. his thumbs rubbed over each other, with hands clasped together on the counter. mike looked up at @ladyseidr; trying to plaster a smile upon his face while he's trying not to look utterly exhausted--- ❝ ---what i'm asking, is---what time do you get off of work? i---need a sitter, for abby. my job is ramping up---and i would take her, but its--- ❞ too dangerous. don't want her to get hurt again. ❝ ---i'd pay you. and also let you have free reign of the kitchen at my house. ❞
