| concerned and protective starters

Wasn't often Brook, well correction, Liberty. Was teamed up with Captain America during missions. But, seeing how her usual teammate wasn't currently around on the team? She had been partnered up with Steve instead for the time being. At least that was how they were referring to the current situation going on right now. In the sense that this was all just temporary. Nina would come back to the team, the girls would be partnered up again like before. That's was all this was a matter of timing. Nina just needed time and..space. From him. He still recalled how it sounded when she called him Steve, oddly it hurt more than any punch that had been thrown his way. And, that was counting the times before he was beefed up with an experimental forumal.

Now was not the time for all that, he needed to be in the mission instead. As the quinjet touched down and everyone made their way out, Steve needed to pause and wait for Liberty to meet up with him. He was filling in the roll Nina would have. They were using this mission as a chance to do some recon and Brook being small and agile, was often the one picked for converting missions resorting to information gathering. Nina would normally be the one to watch her and such but.. Not the time. Steve had to once more tell himself as he and Liberty took the cover of the night to their advantaged and rushed in now. They lucked out for most of the mission have not run into a single person so far; thanks to other intel they knew the way to get in and hopefully back out as long as nothing went wrong. Until they got lost that is, Steve leading the way well distracted landed the two of them in a hanger where they needed to duck away and hide out till it was clear and safe to leave again. Steve was starting to think he may have a poor sense of direction as he was peering around some crates they were using for thier cover before turning back to look at Brook. Keens were drawn to her chest as she had her chin resting to them nearly curled up like a little ball. Liberty seemed well out of it as well, she had been for some time herself. Nina and she weren't just sister's they were very clearly best friends, it was easy to see Brook was taking the absence of her sister hard. Steve just smiled slightly at her as they finally reached the office they needed to get into. Keeping his voice low as he kept watch on the door. "like old times uh?" that seemed to get Brook's attention she picked up her head and crocked it to the side confused.

"You know, lost in an enemy base, no idea where to go well trying to avoid being seen and back?" Brook just lowered her head slightly agreeing with a sigh soon after. Saying almost because when they went to the tower than Nina was at least there. Well shoot Steve messed up there he was trying to get her mind off of the absence sighing himself as he looked to the ground. They just weren't the same when all three of them were here, and he didn't mean as in together right now. It was like tier family was broken right now when one piece was gone the whole set of them just were not the same.

Steve tipped his head back against the wooden crate letting his head hit it a few times softly as he closed his eyes a moment. This was a mess, not the mission just everything else he needed to fix this somehow. That was his job right as the dad. He needed to make things right again someway, somehow, he just needed to find a way to make that all happen. Eye's opened to find himself face to face with a hostile who picked up on the thuds against the wood of the crate the pair of them were hiding behind.

mmh perfect, Steve thought about to move up to his feet but Brook was the first to move standing up arms spread wide as if she was trying to seem bigger than she was as the hostile attention shifted from Steve to the girl. You could see the confusion on their face when faced to face with Libetery which she seemed to take advantage of as she yelled out to Steve. "stay behind me."

He let his face fall a second, points for the heroism but what exactly did she plan to do here? Steve took the distraction offered as the hostile held thier gun up to Liberty as if she was going to be able to do anything to them. Shield in hand as he jerked his hand up and gave them a hard sharp hit to the chin. He could hear the sound of thier sets of teeth clashing against each other before they stumbled back away from the crate. Steve didn't miss a beat as he moved to his feet. Running towards Brook as he snagged her and tossed her over his shoulder. Handing his shield her way to hold. "Cover us!" he shouted The guy he stunned didn't stay that way long as they started to shoot, luckily Brook held the shield out in time for the bullets to bounce off the vibranium. "Hold it tightly" he warned since the bullets would ricochet off the metal and if not expecting it make your hold loosen. The last thing either of them needed was going back with some bullet holes in them.
