"Callista!" Mariza exclaimed, hugging her maid of honour tightly. She had to admit, she was a bit champagne tipsy but she was also just elated to be married and happy and enjoying this day with all of her loved ones, "Thank you for today. You were the best maid of honour. I couldn't have done it without you."

“Hey Cal,” Mariza walked into the room the other was in with two glasses of water in her hands, “I brought you some water,” she said, placing one glass on a table in front of her. She sat down in an empty space and drank some of her own. She didn’t need it but was doing it so they were doing something together, “How are you feeling?”

"Aren't they sweet?" Mariza asked Callista as she watched their kids play together, "I would in no way force a friendship on them but I have a feeling these guys are gonna be friends for life," she joked gently. She turned to Callista properly, keeping the kids in her peripheral, and smiled, "How are you?" she asked warmly.

Mariza asked the receptionist for Callista’s room number, having checked with Zach that Callista could take visitors. She had Ariadne resting on her hip with a It’s a Girl! balloon tied around her wrist. She stopped at the door frame and smiled, “Knock knock, I thought I’d come by and let Ariadne meet her new best friend,” she joked, looking between her daughter and Callista, “Can I come in?”

“Callista hey!” Mariza said with Ariadne in her arms as she waved down the other, “Look at you with your bump! How far along are you now?” She asked, smiling.

"Cal, you've become like a sister to me over the last couple of years. I mean we went through pregnancy together, we're bonded for life now," Mariza said with a bright smile, "Thank you, I appreciate everything you've done for me and for the wedding."

"There she is," Callista commented, wrapping her arms around Mariza. "I'm just still honoured that you asked me in the first place," she admitted. She never thought she'd be in a place in her life where anyone would want her in their wedding party, let alone in such a special role. "I'm so happy for you."

"But that's good," Mariza said, "That's the only way you can take things really, one day at a time. You should be proud of yourself."

"They are," she said. Marina was almost a year old, and Callista still struggled to wrap her head around it. Watching her baby girl grabbing things on the ground while the other two played with her was precious. "I think you're right," she agreed. "Or at least I hope so." Callista looked up at Mariza and shrugged. "I'm okay, I guess. Just.. taking things a day at a time, y'know?"
