Hunched over a workbench as Green Five, the AI was in a state of focus. Strong fingers bent and curved thin sheets of metal as needed. But mostly they were just screwing things in place and connecting wires. Music played from the speakers of a nearby computer terminal, the rhythm punctuated with steady squeaks and whirrs as the green unit’s leg bounced to the beat. 

Across the workbench were a handful of prototypes - avians of metal and plastic. One of them was a badly dented from a botched flight test. Well, at least they weren’t ‘alive’ yet. 

One torso and a head down. Now all that was left was the part it kept messing up - the wings. Making things from scratch, not simply modifying pre-existing robotic frames, sure was hard. But at least it was having fun.
